How much do you know about the Silver Elves?
... The whats?
I've heard of them but I don't know anything about them.
I know a little bit about them.
I know a decent amount about them.
I know a lot about them through research.
I know a lot about them because I am one.

I'm curious actually. I see a lot of non/alterhumans talk about their experience with tails (and other similar features that their true form has but their human form does not), and the experiences seem to be largely split between two sensations.
There's the sensation of missing something. Like you know you should have a tail, and there's just this frustrating lightness in its place. You automatically try to posture in a way that would make sense with a tail, and then it only results in feeling off balance and having this crushing emptiness.
And then there's the sensation of a sortof phantom tail, that you can damn near feel, and subconsciously make space for when you sit and such, and that frustration arises from when you try to do something that fully requires the tangibility of that tail, and it doesn't work (or even just want that phantom itch to go away via having it actually there).
I'm curious on how common each experience is, since I see a lot of both in the community, so...
For the purpose of the poll, you can treat any additional features (wings, large ears, horns, snouts, etc) as relevant, if you have several of them or don't have a long tail.
I personally typically feel more phantom tail. I automatically swing my hips when I turn a corner so my phantom tail can trail behind, it feels rather uncanny to sit in chairs without holes in the back, and if I concentrate on it, I can feel the sensations of my tail brushing up against stuff or resting on a surface.
I'm interested in hearing others' experiences though!

I am quite curious about what religions make up the nonhuman community. Let this be a place for respectful and educational conversation.

how do you experience nonhumanity?
I thought this would be a fun and interesting thing to do! I've never done a poll before, so let this one be the first. my apologies to any experiences or identities that weren't included, this was just for fun :)

Poll for therians :3
(Definitions below the poll)
Paleotherian: A therian whose theriotype is part of an extinct species.
Theriomythic: a therian whose theriotype comes from fiction, mythology, etc. Some people might want to point out to me that "yes but that's not therian it's otherkin", not really, a therian involuntarily identifies himself as an animalistic being, if it is imaginary, as long as it is animalistic, it is a therian. An otherkin unwittingly identifies as an imaginary creature that has some form of anthropomorphic consciousness (use of speech, for example).

Thinking about making a separate blog for talking about more scary kins. Vultures are seen as scary and gross already, but it's nothing compared to bugs.
Specifically, one of my alters recently found out that she's a black widow spider and I just... See so much hate on bugkins or spiders and other "scary" kins as well. I know she also considered a common European adder and decided to forget about it because it's not a common, cute or fluffy kin...

let’s say you could shapeshift physically between a human form and your ’type(s). What would you want it to look like? None of these transformations will hurt, nor will they have long-lasting negative consequences on your physical or mental health. They do not take energy to perform.
Werewolf-like
Animorphs
Magical Girl Transformation
Old Gacha life mini movie teleportation effect
Minecraft shapeshifting mod transformation
Instantaneous- like switching characters in a rp game
A veil or mist forms around you, and when it clears you’ve changed
Different answers for different ‘types
Other answer not listed here (put in tags)

note: whichever feature is replaced, you also get the sensitivity of that feature. ex: if you chose eyes, you would also receive the kintype’s eyesight.
polykins, choose your main kin if you have one.
“snout” is used as an umbrella term in this context
eyebrows not included lmao

My local conventions start happening in a few months, and I really want to make more non human friendos
But I don't want to be like, HEY YOU, YOU THERE. ARE YOU A THERIAN??? bc i am a coward who's afraid of bullying.
So I was thinking of using those convention signs/plates (y'know, those little cheap writing board signs that come with the stapled handle) to find some!!
The question that I'm thinking on would be:
"Do you support therians?
Yes // no // idk what that is"
Y'all can steal my idea if you want!! Just tell me if you do (so I can be happy and not feel stupid about my idea)

I saw this a lot on therian tiktok:
People naming their gear. Not their theriotypes, or adopting a 'therian name', but naming their gear itself, ie having a wolf mask named Smoke or a cat mask named Ginger.
The main talking point FOR doing this was naming the gear made it easier to differentiate between different gear sets without having to say 'the gray mask' or 'the brown tail' because they could just say 'Cloudpelt' or 'Pine'.
The main talking point AGAINST this was that it made people seem like they were roleplaying instead of actually identifying as a 'real therian', and/or it made your theriotype look like a fursona instead of a theriotype.
I've always been neutral on this because idgaf about what other ppl do but I'm curious to hear more thoughts/opinions on this :3

Btw, obligate carnivores and obligate herbivores eat only meat or only plant material, respectively. For example, dogs and wolves are not obligate carnivores, while cats are because they can’t digest anything other than meat.
Most herbivores are not obligate herbivores, so you might want to check if your -type is before answering.
