[…] At the end of life, this new polymer can be degraded under either mild acidic conditions (near the pH of stomach acid) or relatively low heat treatment (> 410 F). 10. Peekaboo! A baby tree kangaroo debuts at the Bronx Zoo

[… A] Bronx Zoo spokesperson said that the kangaroo's birth was significant for the network of zoos that aims to preserve genetic diversity among endangered animals. i think a consideration worth remaining mindful of is the fact that you do not need to feel guilty about eating, generally, but especially not about failing to eat healthy 100% of the time. that’s not a realistic goal for most and a much larger discussion needs to be had about the quality of products found upon american shelves. it should not be as hard as it is to eat healthy, and this hard truth is where your anger should be directed. you should not be angry with yourself, but instead with those who allow such utter garbage to appear on the shelves of your local grocery store under the guise of the privilege that is choice.

Wieght gain tip number 2: what should i eat 🤷‍♀️
Now that we talked about the best nutritional intakes to gain weight, both healthy and unhealthy, next next question to ask yourself is: what do I eat?
Now, let's start with you unhealthy piggies first. Good news for yall! You get to have all the fatty and delicious food you want 😋. Now, what is a good meal plan that will last you a week and won't hurt your wallet 🤔
Well any American knows the magnificent super store called Walmart 😌. Now what if I told you this bad boy can get you so fucking fat with only 40-50$ a week?
At 35-50$ a week: you can get around 3k calories per day for 1 whole week
Let's get the fun stuff out of the way. For your morning snack should be light compared to your afternoon snack, I recommend getting fritters. You can scarf down 720 calories with 2 fritters. A whole box of 6 fritters is merely 4 dollars, sooooo you should pick up 1-2 boxes. Your breakfast should be your lightest of your meals. If you want to go the extra mile and be lazy, I highly recommend Jimmy Dean Sausage, Egg & Cheese Croissant Sandwiches, each sandwich is 400 calories and one box has 4 sandwiches in it, so once more get 1-2 boxes for the week at this point you've spent between $10-$20 and eaten around 700-1.2k calories so far. It's not bad for a start, but im sure that tummy is still very hungry 😋. So let's move on to some lunch, and I know just the meal that will fill that gut! Starting off with your sides, you should pick up some Great Value Seasoned French Fries. 11 servings per bag with 140 calories per serving and only $3.75. As always, I recommend getting 1-2 bags like usual, of course, the more the merrier 😁. For your main meal, I recommend eating some nice and healthy American made burgers 😋, so grab some patties (recommend 20% fat 80% lean). The All Natural brand sells 12 patties per pack at $10! And if course you can eat a burger without buns, sooooo let's grab some big carb filled buns 😌. Great Value Jumbo Hamburger Buns should be the cheapest and most carb heavy buns you can get at only $2 (although you have to pick up 2 for all 12 patties). So let's have the final snack before bedtime, I think something light like walmart's famous Freshness Guaranteed Frosted Sugar Cookies should do, hehe 😉
In total, this should set you around 2.7-3k calories worth of food, which is more than enough to fatten up anyone under 200lbs

High School Teacher AU
So the results from this poll was to do the AU with both my OCs & the 141, but I want to clarify that while I might do Teacher!141 x Reader if asked, this AU is mainly a Kali x Stone AU. The 141 aren't really the main focus (though that's not to say they'll only appear rarely).
Anyways, I wanted to first to an introduction of all of the characters (because I finally named my newest OC). We're going to talk about what class they're teaching, a little bit about them in this AU.
We're going to do this by grades (because some of them are teaching the same subject ((ie history)) but they're different classes). It's important to note that this is a U.S. high school, not a British/UK one. Also, some of them still have their callsigns because those callsigns could easily be written as a nickname they got from students.
Okay now onto the cast:
Peter Williams, Personal Fitness (Grade 9)- Coach Williams is well-loved by the students and is a former Marine. He's not very strict, very much lenient, hence why the freshmen love him. He has a knife scar that goes through his left eyebrow and all the way through his left eye (but didn't blind him). He is known for gushing about his wife and daughters (though some students and faculty believe that Dr. Greene is actually his "wife").
Arun "Hellstorm" Khatri, Environmental Science (Grade 9)- Mr. Kahtri is a former Naval pilot and is known as "Hellstorm" because he once "rained hell" down on a teacher who humiliated a student by making them stand outside the classroom with a sign detailing how they misbehaved. That being said, he is known for looking like he's perpetually bored due to his face usually being neutral and his voice monotone.
Kyle Garrick, Creative Photography 1 (Grades 9-12)- Mr. Garrick is a former SAS soldier who moved from the UK to teach kids how to get into photography. He teaches Creative Photography 1 only because he primarily works with film instead of digital cameras. Students often gush about how he makes them love photography and how his tips help them become better photographers.
John MacTavish, 2D Studio Art 1 & 2 (Grades 9-12)- Mr. MacTavish is a former SAS soldier and he moved from the UK to help American kids either start their artistic career or better improve their artistic skills. He's very out-going and he's a hit amongst the students. Don't tell the administrative faculty, but he often puts on movies for the kids on slow days.
Fariz "Heartthrob" Shah, Nutrition & Wellness (Grades 9-12)- Mr. Shah is a former Marine and he got his nickname due to being very charismatic. He is said to make all of the faculty swoon and even some students (though he stays away from students, even if they're eighteen). He teaches his students the joys of cooking.
Ashok Kumar, Chorus 1, 2, & 3 (Grades 9-12)- Mr. Kumar is a former Marine and he is extremely tall at 6'6". He walks a fine line of being demanding in terms of choir performance while also having days where his classes are just watching movies to relax. He and his senior chorus class go to Disney every year to perform. His choirs have won more trophies than the football team.
John Price, World History (Grade 10)- Mr. Price is a former SAS soldier and he moved to America as a favor to the principal of the high school whom he had fought alongside with. He is considered to be a rather fair teacher, stern but not too strict. He's vying to be the favorite history teacher among the tenth graders, often clashing with Stone/Mr. Mishra who also teaches tenth graders.
Vasanti Singh, IT Systems and Applications (Grade 10)- Ms. Singh is a former information systems technical and she took this teaching job simply because it was easy enough to let her mind rest. She's known to goof around, being a hit among the students and the other faculty members. Most students take her class because they think it'll be easy, oh how wrong they are.
Simon "Ghost" Riley, Weight Training 1, 2, & 3 (Grades 10-12)- Coach Riley is a former SAS soldier and he is known for being a hard-ass. He's really strict and has made kids cry, but he was the best out of all of the potential candidates so he got hired. His nickname is due to him being able to just disappear without anyone noticing. He lowkey has animosity towards Coach Williams because he doesn't understand why Coach Williams is so easygoing with the students. He pushes his students to be the best they can be. He has declined offers to become the new football coach, despite his leadership potentially being the key to improve the football team.
Nathan Greene, AP Pre-Calculus (Grades 10-12)- Dr. Greene is a former Marine and he has a PHD in mathematics. He could be teaching at a college and be a professor, but he loves to help improve younger students' love for mathematics. He is rumored to be Coach Williams' "actual" wife as he once popped his head in the gym and asked "how their girls were doing" while referring to Coach Williams' daughters. He has a son and most faculty members who believe Coach Williams and Dr. Greene are actually married swear up and down they can see similarities in both Dr. Greene's son and Coach Williams.
Vikram "Stone" Mishra, United States History (Grades 10-12)- Mr. Mishra is a former Corpsman and is a complete mystery to most people. He has managed to hide his first name from most faculty members and all of the students, as the scantrons they take in his class only refer to him as "Stone Mishra". No one knows where the nickname comes from, but every adult refers to him as "Stone". Students are in awe of his countless old battle scars, enough so that they take his class despite knowing how strict he is. He is often told to be the strictest teacher on campus.
Ivan Kohli-Petrov, AP English Literature & Composition (Grades 11-12)- Mr. Kohli-Petrov is a former Marine and is a man of few words. Despite being mostly silent, his teaching has helped the school's overall test scores improve with how much he makes his class seem more fun. Most juniors and seniors say he makes reading more fun than their previous English teachers. He's not known for his friendliness, considering the looks he gives whenever someone asks him how the right side of his body got severely burned.

pam grier, born pamela suzette grier is an american singer and actress who starred in numerous action, blaxploitation and women in prison movies. shes been nominated for an emmy, a golden globe, a screen actor's guild, a satellite award and a saturn award.
pam was born in north carolina, but her family moved due to her father being in the military. during high school she was in stage productions and raised money to go to college by being in beauty pageants. at 18 she moved to los angeles and was hired to work the switchboard. here she was discovered by a director (believed to be jack hill) and cast in women-in prison films, starting in 1971.
from there pam continued to star in numerous blaxploitation and women in prison movies. roger ebert, in a review for her film coffy described pam as having "a beautiful face and astonishing form" and said that she had a 'physical life' that many actresses lacked. pam was also the first black woman to headline an action film, and throughout the 70s she progressively got bigger roles.
she made a thetrical debut in 1985 and in 1994 she was featured in snoop dog's video for 'doggy dog world.' since then she's continued to be in movies and on tv. pam's legacy is marked by the characters she played who were revolutionary not only for their beauty but for their boldness. she's viewed as a sex symbol, but she's also so much more than that. pam also founded the 'pam grier garden and community center' to teach people about gardening, organic eating, nutrition, and other tips!

In America, muted colors were a sign of order, of cleanliness, of sophistication.
The hospital Mirabel worked in was light grey, with an interior of light wood and grey granite only interrupted by light green and blue upholstery. Her scrubs were pastels, just like the nursing program supervisor had recommended when she arrived in Los Angeles, EB-3 visa carefully stuck in her maroon pasaporte.
The fruit truck was bright yellow. Her colleagues thought it was gaudy. They also thought the flowers and birds she had embroidered on her pastel scrubs were gaudy, but were too "polite" to say it out loud - they left that to their eyes.
The sad, middle-aged man who ran the fruit truck and sounded like home, even like the family she'd left behind, brightened every time she approached to collect her perfectly-seasoned mango and rehash the latest episode of what her slovenly roommates called "Mirabel's melodramatic trash TV."
After his friend (neighbor? landlady's shiftless son?) informed her that the man's name was Bruno and that he was currently having a low-grade medical emergency in his apartment, she found someone who needed the colors of home - on his plate, in his apartment… on her.
Whenever Mirabel went to watch her "melodramatic trash TV" with someone who didn't need her to translate the language or the culture, she stopped wearing those dully-colored, almost masculine American jeans and t-shirts that she'd bought to fit in, but instead her brightly-printed skirts and frilly blouses that showed off her collarbones.
Bruno worked hard, had taught himself English, and best she could tell, did not drink to excess or do drugs. Decades of manual labor had kept him fit, and had only refined those beautiful hands, not coarsened them. His manners were oddly prim, more like those of her university-graduate father than those of the construction workers who crudely signaled their appreciation of her backside as she walked from the school gate to the car that whisked her and her sisters home.
Her roommates, who were even worse housekeepers than he was and appeared to be "hooking up" with new guys every week, would mock her for being interested in a man who had to be at least fifty. Her colleagues would turn their noses up at him because he was a fruit truck guy, and not one of the fancy ones that charged way too much for small underripe portions, but the "ethnic" one. Her family… Dios. If she dated while on this placement, anything less than a doctor would be a humiliation for them all - so she shoved what they would think about Bruno out of her mind.
But there was just something irresistible about him. A whole world was hidden in his dark green eyes. So she made the dishes everyone back home loved, using the nutritional knowledge she had picked up in her studies to replace some of the meat with colorful vegetables, and her mother's tips for making convenient, appealing leftovers. She kept wearing those bright skirts and frilly blouses, but started taking them up and in, bit by bit, showing increasing amounts of her warm-colored skin and beginning to despair of him taking her increasingly unsubtle hints.
Until finally, something broke (ironically while she was dressed in the plain t-shirt and jogging pants he had scrounged up after he rescued her from a nervous breakdown in the middle of her shift) and they could no longer deny the need for the home they had found in each other.
Once he had made her his, she felt free to bring the bright, clean colors of home into his sad apartment. New sheets and comforter for the bed they had started sharing most nights, proper curtains, a set of harmoniously-mismatched plates from the secondhand store, and a place where every new piece of her artwork was verbally appreciated. She seriously considered moving away from her slovenly roommates.
Marriage had become even more unfashionable back home than it was in Los Angeles, but she was starting to wonder if he might consider it. He had been in America long enough that he was probably a citizen through The Amnesty. If they married, she could get a real Green Card instead of her restrictive nursing visa and, as he had suggested, find a career she actually liked - maybe try being an art teacher… or even an artist. She could give him a child or two before he was too old to chase them.
And then her mother showed up with her sophisticated, muted-colored suits for a conference and mentioned that the man in the bright yellow fruit truck looked like she imagined her brother Bruno would after all those years away from home.
The color washed out of Mirabel's dreams.

Reading lots of beginner witch tips and one thing that seems to keep coming up is Cultural Appropriation and Closed Practices, and it got me thinking as to why people even feel tempted to get into cultures they're not already involved in.
It seems like it's predominantly a White American problem, which seems similar to how predominantly White Americans were really really into those DNA testing kits a while back, which a lot of those people seemed to be using to try to, once again, connect to cultures ther have to part in otherwise.
Now I know lots of people have (rightfully) compared colonists to invasive species that wreaks absolute destruction on the environments they're introduced to, but if we take that a step further and look at culture itself as a type of environment - in that it provides a very important type of nourishment to its participants and is shaped by those participants - it kinda starts to look like Modern America is more like a cultural desert (i.e. capitalist hellscape) where many of the specimins in that "biome" are severely undernourished and are desperately seeking nutrition elsewhere, and are then becoming invasive to those cultures with a strong tradition and herritage.
Not saying that anyone should be "accomodating" to those people because of that though. Like, I understand why the spotted lantern fly is DECIMATING MY GRAPE VINE but I'm still gonna smack the shit out of it because that one Does Not Belong in this ecosystem. But maybe if America as a whole would be less obsessed with Money and Power we could pour some proverbial compost on the arts and humanities instead. Like, mow down all the kudzu vine and mulch it to feed the food plants. Or something.
And maybe that analogy can be extended to situations like "Person is born into culture A, but they need more Spirit Vitamin B than is provided in culture A, so they are drawn to culture B"
What am I even talking about. I don't know why I wrote this.

Sumo is the best and worst sport there is

I've been playing Street Fighter 6 and maining E. Honda, which is a gateway drug to learning about sumo, which is a gateway drug to watching hours of sumo wrestling on this 24 hour sumo rebroadcast twitch stream.
It's a fun spectator sport but it turns out that sumo is like American football but worse, because in addition to getting their skulls smashed together constantly, they also get all kinds of health problems from the stress, injuries, and diet. The average sumo wrestler lives to be 65 and is likely to get diabetes. It's inhumane. And it's backed by hundreds of years of tradition so they can get away with it.
...but, unfortunately, sumo is cool as shit. Here's why:
You lose a match by being forced out of the ring or getting knocked down. You win by being immovable. How do you become immovable?

By having more mass than your opponent, of course.
Every match starts with both wrestlers rushing together and colliding. All else being equal, the heavier wrestler has an inherent advantage at the start. Strength alone is insufficient; if he doesn't have the mass he'll just bounce off the other guy. If the match isn't decided in the first second, then it becomes a hellish grappling game, as they both try to figure out how to tip over a person who's built like the dog that cannot be tipped over.
So there's this arms race happening behind the scenes as coaches use the power of Dark Nutrition Science to try and make their guys heavier.
Every wrestler is trying to be heavier than average, so the average weight keeps going up. It's been going up since the 60s. Building and sustaining mass, along with doing the accompanying strength training to stay agile, is the challenge that defines a sumo wrestler's career.
This is the real game. The teams (which are called 'stables,' to give you a sense of why there might be a problem here) are competing with each other to win the title of Who Can Put The Most Calories In A Guy.
It's nightmarish, but if I'm being honest, it's also compelling. Like, this is what all pro sports do: relentlessly instrumentalize human beings into honed single-purpose machines. But in sumo the qualities being optimized for are moving fast, hitting hard, and being huge. And it turns out that a person can get really good at all three of those! It's impressive! Inspiring, even! It's just too bad that, you know, it eventually kills them.
Pro sumo is a dangerous, exploitative sport. It probably shouldn't exist. But as long as it does, do yourself a favor: Check out that stream, pull up the wikipedia page on sumo to read along so you can figure out what they're doing, and bear witness to a spectacular and deranged application of human ingenuity and drive.
It does help if you know hiragana so you can read their names. But, cmon, it's 2023. Learn hiragana already. It takes like a couple days on duolingo. The stream chat also has a bot that gives a short bio of any wrestler if you type ![their name]. If channel host sahairah happens to be there, and they often are in the evenings, they will patiently answer questions you have. but don't show up there and ask a ton of dumbass questions, because that would then be my fault.
