After Danny is crowned Ghost King, Amity Park becomes detached from the mortal realm and is suspended between the two realms, much like Danny is. In an effort to combat this isolation from the rest of the world, Danny opens up his castle to the residents of Amity. (Not his Lair, just the castle he earned via conquest.)
Now the castle is more like a community center, and it’s constantly filled with both humans and ghosts coming and going. The Amity Parkers are already liminal, so visiting the Zone is actually healthy for them! The school takes the kids on regular field trips, ghost vs. human competitions get very heated, and overall everyone bonds over their shared freakiness and comes to terms with the fact they’ll never venture out into their world ever again.
But just because they’re detached from their world, doesn’t mean the residents of Amity can’t visit other worlds. :)
And it just so happens that their new community castle is filled to the brim with magic doors and ancient treasures to help aid on their noble quest of inter-dimensional grocery shopping.

batman: track and field au
author's note: i just miss track and field varsity even though i wasnt even that good... and ive been thinking about batman track and field au for FOREVER. so today i wrote a bit 📝
things u need to know: bruce is not batman. he's a coach at a school where the rest of the justice league teaches. yes, they're still the justice league. and yes, his robins still end up as vigilantes. jason is 15 in this; the joker hasn't gotten to him yet. also i added some characters ahead of the timeline bc i love them :/
Jason stumbles over from the finish line, grinning and sweat-drenched. And then his face screws up in sudden distress, and he promptly wobbles and collapses onto the hot stadium mat.
A half-formed sound of alarm—
Bruce leaps over the bleacher railing and sprints.
A poor, well-meaning race official gets there first, but Bruce shoulders him roughly aside and crouches by Jason. Jason has turned on his side, holding his right knee tight to his chest and making little pained gasps.
It tears at his heart. “Jason,” Bruce says.
Jason’s eyes are screwed shut, and he says nothing, but one of his hands reach blindly in Bruce’s direction and Bruce grasps it tightly.
“You were terrific, chum.” He squeezes, and feels the tremor that goes through his son. “Stretch your leg out for me.”
Jason shakes his head. “Hurts—”
“I know. I know. Please, Jay.”
It’s slow, and excruciating, but between the two of them they manage to get Jason sitting up, his leg extended straight against the ground. One hand of Bruce’s presses down firmly on the knee, and the other pushes his foot to flex, the metal spikes of Jason’s shoes digging hard into the callused flesh of Bruce’s palm. Jason leans back on his hands, spread flat against the ground, head tilted up to open, cloudless sky, exhaling drawn-out, shaky breaths.
The speakers blare out the next events—second call for Male C’s 400-meter hurdles, and third call for Female B’s high jump. The left side of the crowd begins clapping on beat for their star javelin thrower as she rocks back on her feet, once, twice, and begins bounding forward. Bruce makes a displeased noise. He hopes his throwers remember to pay attention.
A mosquito buzzes by Bruce’s ear and he shakes his head sharply to drive it away. The sweat has been beading at his hairline all throughout, and now it rolls torturously slow down his face. As his hands are otherwise occupied, he makes no move to wipe it, and does his best to ignore the unpleasant sensation.
At last, Jason’s breathing evens out. He tugs his leg gingerly away from Bruce’s hold, cheeks flushed with exertion and, doubtless, embarrassment. “Thanks.”
Bruce sits back on his haunches and wipes the sweat off his face. “Ready to stand?”
Jason raises a hand, wincing as he tests the muscles of his leg. “One sec.”
Bruce nods shortly. Jason safe, his attention wanders over to the bleachers. Tim, thank God, is dragging Damian away from the high railing. Dick and Cass are eating lunch with much avidity—Dick’s best event, high jump, had just ended before Jason’s, and Cass seems to have just returned from shot put. Duke and Stephanie are nowhere in sight, and for a moment Bruce is alarmed, but then he spots them at the stage and relaxes. Duke must have won his high jump—he stands on the highest podium, and even from here Bruce can tell he’s grinning—and Stephanie is clicking away on the school camera next to the official photographer.
As he watches Stephanie turn the camera backward and attempt to take a selfie with Duke, there’s a tap on his thigh. Bruce extends his hand without looking and grasps the hand that interlocks with his, pulling Jason up with ease.
Bruce glances at Jason, and notes how he squints against the glaring afternoon. “Remember to reapply your sunscreen when you get back.”
Jason rolls his eyes. “Not everyone is ghost-white like you.”
“You do not have to be ghost-white to get skin cancer.”
Jason grumbles, but when Bruce raises an imperious eyebrow at him, he raises his hands in surrender. “Fine. Whatever you say, boss.”
“Good. And, Jay...” Bruce reaches out, tentative, and puts a hand on his shoulder. “I meant it. You did terrific.”
Jason beams, bright enough to outshine the day, and something in Bruce’s chest uncurls into warmth.
#bruce wayne#jason todd#batman#dc#ALSO THIS IS VAGUELY FILIPINO AU in the sense that . our track meets were alwys SO SO SO HOT like even when u sit on the track u can feel i#BURNINGGGGGG thru ur shorts like owowowoww and also i feel really dizzy when im out there for so long... sun is a deadly lazee#the worst is when i was doing throwinf events cuz thats right out in the field and u have to wait for everyone's turn again and again and#IT WAS SOOOO HOT IT WAS AFTERNOON AROUND 3PM I WAS LITERALLY BURNING UP IN THAT HEAT and there was only one tiny tent for the scorer but TH#SUNLIGHT SLANTED INTO IT SO ACTUALLY THERE WAS BARELY ANY SHADE AJAHWJSGWJDGKEHRKRHFKRBRBEjehwjwhw#also the cramps thing has not happened to me that much since im not a big runner BUT i see it happen a lot to others. ow in sympathy#also the javelin thrower clapping thing. we do this for this one guy from another school bc his throws are simply CRAZY#u start clapping when he bounces in position and then clap along to his bounds forward and then SCREAMM AND CHEER when it's thrown its grea#my fics#batman track and field au

💎 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Starlight’s Reach
Wondrous item, very rare (requires attunement) ___ These long, silken gloves are dotted with silver stars. While wearing them, you can always see the stars in the sky, even in the daytime, and you can’t become lost by nonmagical means as long as you can see them. While wearing the gloves, you can use a bonus action to summon a javelin of starlight. The javelin appears in your space and moves with you, floating alongside you. It sheds bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. When you summon the javelin, and again as a bonus action on each of your subsequent turns, you can make a ranged spell attack with the weapon, with a spell attack bonus of +8. The javelin has a range of 30 feet, but it can be used to attack a target up to 120 feet away: doing so causes you to make the attack with disadvantage. If the javelin hits a target, it deals 1d6 + 4 radiant damage, and a shimmering star appears fixed in space at the point of impact. The star sheds bright and dim light like the javelin, and it remains there for up to 1 minute. Hit or miss, the javelin then winks out and reappears next to you in your space. You can use a bonus action to dismiss the javelin. When you do, the shimmering stars created by the javelin each flare with a celestial light, creating 1-inch-diameter beams of energy between them. A star can have up to two beams of energy connected to it, and each beam must connect to a different star no more than 60 feet away from it (you choose which stars). A creature caught in one or more of the beams must succeed on a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw or take 4d6 radiant damage. The stars then vanish. After the javelin attacks for the fifth time, it disappears, and any stars created by it wink out without creating any beams. ___ ✨ Patrons get huge perks! ✨New item!✨ Coldhand Ring, uncommon (requires attunement)
This iron band is ringed with frost and embedded with milky blue uncut larimar. The hand upon which you wear the ring is pale and ice cold to the touch. The ring has 3 charges, and it regains all expended charges daily at dawn. You can expend 1 charge while wearing the ring to do one of the following options:
Chilling Blow. When you hit a target with an unarmed strike or a melee weapon attack, the target takes an extra 2d6 cold damage and it must make a successful DC 13 Constitution saving throw or it can’t take reactions and its speed is halved until the end of its next turn.
Ice Javelin. When you take the Attack action, if your ring-wearing hand is free, you can replace one of the attacks with a special thrown weapon attack. As part of the attack, you summon a javelin made of ice and throw it at a target that you can see within range. The ice javelin uses the damage die and weapon properties of a typical javelin. Hit or miss, the javelin then explodes. The target of your attack and each creature within 5 feet of it must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or take 2d6 cold damage. If the attack hit, the target has disadvantage on this saving throw.
The cloaked ranger rode into town on a reindeer, and a pall of silence fell upon the villagers. Icicles hung from its antlers and the fringe of the traveler’s mantle was stiff with frost. A young stablehand stepped forth and feebly offered to lodge the beast for the night, but the ranger’s only response was to hold out a frost-blackened fist. The stablehand instinctively responded, and a ring was dropped into his cupped hands… - 🖌🎨 Like our work? One More Sleep pt.1
batboys x reader
(A/N): Happy Holidays all! I was listening to this song and decided to write a blurb series about the batboys getting home early Christmas morning and have actually stuck to it so here's part 1! Part 2 will be out tomorrow but what it contains will depend on what I get written in the next 24 hours so we'll see what happens. [Edit: find pt. 2 here.] Many thanks to Red for brainstorming help. This series wouldn't exist if not for them. Also thanks to my sister who has read these and deemed them "tooth-rotting fluff." She's a Duke fan despite knowing nothing about DC other than what she hears from me.
And I've decided to dedicate these two parts to my lovely mutuals so @citrinesparkles, this one is for you. I hope you enjoy!
And Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!
total wc: ~1800
warnings: non-graphic mentions of injury, exhaustion, specific mentions of Christmas, so. much. fluff.
~~
Dick Grayson
wc: ~700
Dick yawns as he glances up at the screen in the airport. Baggage claim 6 holds the bags for the nonstop Christmas Eve flight from California to Gotham, apparently. He checks his watch: 1:30am. Well, Christmas now. Usually his family doesn't take commercial flights back from missions, but Dick’s cover demanded he take one from San Francisco to Gotham so he could use visiting California as his excuse.
Dick hikes his bag a little higher on his shoulders, wincing a little as his elbow tweaks even with the brace, and heads to the escalator that would lead him to the baggage claim. This early on Christmas morning, the airport is quieter than usual and the everyday Gotham bustle has been replaced with a weird sort of hollowness ringing in the air. Dick stretches his neck out—sore from hours on the javelin then the plane—and stops short. He can feel a smile spreading across his face. It’s nearly 2am on Christmas day and yet there you are: standing by the baggage claim with a thermos in one hand, the other crossed over your chest. He sees the moment you lay eyes on him in real time, when your eyes light up and a smile splits your features, and there’s a beat of warmth in his chest. He gets to have that—no one else.
Dick picks up his pace as you head towards him. And then your arms are around him and the solemnity of an empty airport can’t get to him anymore.
You pull back first, arms around his neck shifting for one hand to cup his face before you pull him to a kiss.
“Merry Christmas, Dickie,” you say, forehead resting against his temple.
“Merry Christmas, babe,” Dick whispers. He pulls back this time, his left hand winding around your free one. “I didn’t know you were coming.”
You smile, handing him the thermos.
“Bruce sent me the flight details—it’s hot chocolate, I made it before I left—Bruce sent me the details and I said I’d pick you up to surprise you.”
Dick squeezes your hand as the two of you walk back towards the baggage claim. It’s moving now, a stilted circling around, though there are no bags yet.
“Best gift I could have asked for.”
“Oh so you don’t want the matching sweaters I bought for us the other day? Okay then.”
Dick hands you the thermos so he can grab his suitcase as it appears around the bend, playing devastated.
“Oh come on babe you know I have a weakness for sweaters,” he teases. You take the suitcase from him as soon as it touches the ground, swapping it with the thermos, and pull your linked hands over your shoulder, guiding him out of the airport and into the cold Gotham air. His energy is flagging now, even as the wind bites at his face, adrenaline from seeing you fading back into the after-mission kind of tired that a half-nap on a plane can’t fix.
Dick blinks his eyes open and he’s standing in front of your car. He opens the passenger door on autopilot, dropping his bag at his feet and placing the thermos into a cup holder in the center console. He climbs in and pulls the door shut before putting on his seatbelt and leaning against the window. Behind him, the trunk slams shut. The driver’s door opens and you turn the key in the ignition, sparking a burst of warm air from the vents. Dick shivers, still leaning against the car window.
Your hand, cold from outside, finds his and squeezes. Dick squeezes back, eyes half lidded now. He wants nothing more than to turn on the radio and sing Christmas songs with you for the 25 minutes it’ll take to get to his childhood home, but he’s quickly losing to his exhaustion.
There’s a nose pressed briefly against his cheekbone and warm lips pressed to his cheek for just a second before they withdraw.
“Take a nap,” you suggest. You selflessly know what’s best for him, always. Making sure you know a million times over will just have to be his new year’s resolution. He’s too tired now. “I’ll wake you when we get to the manor. Everyone’s already expecting us down at noon tomorrow. We’re doing brunch.”
And Dick, warm in adoration and surrounded by pine-scented car air freshener, lets his eyes flutter closed.
Jason Todd:
wc: ~450
The first thing Jason sees when the door opens is the clock above the electric fireplace, 3:02am blinking at him in red. The second is the christmas tree, bathing the living room in a soft glow. The fact that the tree is on tells him you’re not asleep in bed. If you were, you’d have left a lamp on for him. Jason feels his lips quirk up as he strides further into the apartment. There you are, on the couch, like you try to be every night he’s out late. Sometimes you wait him out: finish a book or binge watch a TV show. Sometimes, he gets home to you passed out on the couch.
Tonight, you’re dead to the world, snoring faintly. Jason feels something in his chest squeeze pleasantly. You’re wearing his long-sleeved tee, wrapped in the blanket Alfred made him years ago. He is yours and you are his, and if the fireplace doesn't say that well enough, then the matching apartment keys certainly do.
Jason detangles you from the blanket before pulling you into his arms. He’s done this same song and dance time and time before—you lose the battle to sleep more than you win—but the knowledge that you love him enough to try still sits heavy in his chest. All these years in, and he can’t believe you choose him every night. Guilt settles in his chest as he places you on the bed, red sheets and holiday comforter pulled up over you. It’s Christmas morning now; he’s missed Christmas Eve. Again. And then he turns to the dresser and sees his santa pj pants and a shirt laid out on top and remembers that he’s so much better with you than without you and maybe that’s selfish but it’s Christmas and he’s allowed to be selfish just this once.
A quick face wash, change into pjs, and one teeth brushing later, Jason’s crawling into bed. His hair is mostly dry from the shower he took at the batcave before he headed home, and he’s more grateful now that it’s not dripping down his neck than he was when Dick was needling him about it in the batcave.
Your eyes blink blearily when he pulls the blankets up around him.
“Jay?”
You’re moving towards him before he can respond and Jason’s arms come up automatically to wrap around you.
“Yeah,” he answers. His voice is hoarse, stripped from him by the unadulterated care you show him, even half-asleep.
“Hm. Merry Christmas. I love you,” you say, shifting your head to rest on his chest.
You’re asleep once more before his voice unsticks, and he tightens his grip, pulling you closer against him.
“I love you too.”
Duke Thomas:
wc: ~650
Duke opens the door to his shared apartment at 12:30am on Dec 25. He’s actually earlier than he thought he’d be. The snow that made his trip longer let up enough to let him head home 18 hours ago, which means he gets to wake up Christmas morning with his partner and he’s ecstatic.
The first thing he hears is a rustling of paper and a frantic “Waitwaitwaitwait, close your eyes!”
Duke stops short, one hand over his closed eyes and the other shutting the front door behind him.
“My eyes are closed,” he informs you, a smile crossing his face. He missed you so much. Duke can hear as you stand up and walk over to him, socked feet light on the floor.
“Keep your eyes closed,” you warn as your arms wrap around him. He obeys even as he tips his head onto your shoulder. You smell like laundry detergent and holiday candles and home.
A crushing hug later and you pull away, a hand on his back nudging him towards the bedroom. He nearly trips trying to kick off his shoes and lets you guide him. Once he’s crossed the bedroom doorway, Duke turns around to look at you. You’re in Christmas pajamas and your hair is messy, but your eyes are shining brightly even in the dim light. You pull him down for a quick kiss.
“I’ll let you know when I’m done wrapping, okay? Now take a shower, you smell like a gym locker room.”
Duke laughs and ducks his head down for another kiss.
“I’d argue but I’ve also been smelling me recently so I agree.” You laugh back at him, squeezing his bicep before you turn back to the living room.
“Love you!” Duke calls out as he closes the door.
“Love you too!”
Duke’s halfway through his shower before he realizes that he hasn’t wrapped his gifts. Okay, that’s not exactly fair. He’s wrapped some of them, when you and he wrapped everything for your respective families together before he left. He hasn’t wrapped your gifts. You take great joy in teasing him about it every year. He remembers to shop but always forgets the second step so you usually do it together. Except he can’t wrap your gifts with you there and now it’s Christmas and he still hasn’t done it.
“Hey starlight?” Duke yells from just outside the bedroom door. He’s got a hand over his eyes again even though they’re closed, and is dressed in a t-shirt and pj pants—the pants match yours: dark green with Christmas lights on them.
“Yeah sunshine?” You call back. It’s a little absentminded, and he smiles at the routine call and response. He can’t remember when it started, but you started calling him sunshine at some point and you’re the nighttime to balance his day so he ran through a few and that one stuck.
“Can I have the wrapping paper?” There’s a pause and then a laugh.
“I’ve just got to cut paper for this last present and then I’ll bring it over.” There’s a little bit of shuffling and then scissors cutting paper and then a roll of wrapping paper bumping against his free hand.
“Have fun,” you tell him, and he can hear the smile in your voice. “I’ll knock when I’m done.”
Duke’s working on his second gift when there’s a knock on the bedroom door.
“When you’re done, I’ll be on the couch.”
“Thanks, starlight!” Duke calls back through the door. Two more gifts and he’s finished, and he opens the door to walk back into the living room. Duke leans the present against the ones already at home under the tree then stands up, eyes flicking to the clock before landing on you.
“Bed?” You ask, reaching a hand out.
“Bed,” he agrees, taking your hand. Sure, it’s Christmas already, but the presents are second to eight hours wrapped in each other’s arms.

Bio:
As part of Project CADMUS’ endless attempts for contingency plans and strategies against metahuman heroes and crime fighting vigilantes should they go rouge, The higher brass commission a restart to their highly effective cloning process with some modifications to their original design. In this case, create a clone at a younger age so they can be more easily swayed therefore controllable under their orders when the time arises. Futhermore, with hiring some mystics and magic based metas on their side, CADMUS was able to acquire DNA from Human turned Amazonian Warrior and Veteran Titans Member, Donna Hinckley Troy aka Troia.
After initial gestation which lasts about 5-6 months, the clone had by then developed into a young woman which bears a lot of resemblance to Donna albeit with some alterations due to the incorporation of other Amazonian DNA within her samples. Once she reaches an age resembling that of a 10 year old, by then thanks to the transference of all sorts of knowledge, from the basics about social skills including table manners, the learning of that English and Ancient Greek Languages, all the way up to the most advanced and complex of Amazonian combats techniques on the battlefield, the clone dubbed Subject 66 was finally released from her pod, to officially begin her training under CADMUS’ wing.
However, what the scientists at those hadn’t entirely counted on was Subject 66 exhibiting personality traits which actively questions and speaks against their goals for her, all of which conflict with her extraordinary emotions of free will and self empowerment. While they had managed some of the training they had in mind with positive results, CADMUS was overall unable to exactly control Subject 66, only reason she even cooperated with their training and what passed for their care was because at that time, she had nowhere else to go.
Enter Donna and her ‘sister’ Cassandra ‘Cassie’ Sandsmark aka Wonder Girl. During an extensive battle against routine Titan nemeses The HIVE/Fearsome Five, the secret laboratory CADMUS was operating in that contains Subject 66 was discovered by an errant Donna being tossed right into its walls, crashing though the complex and down to the vault which led to the Subject’s living quarters. She hadn’t found enough to notice her clone though as Donna immediately rushed back into the battle right out of the building. Subject 66 however noticed her ‘bedroom’ vault was wide open, allowing her to fly out of there to delicate her freedom since that the CADMUS personnel had left in a massive hurry. Once finally outside the building complex after so long, Subject 66 saw the battle between the two Wonder Girls and the HIVE/Fearsome Five, so far the battle not going so well for the Wonders. Just Donna was pinned to the street floor and about to receive a nasty looking face punch from Mammoth, suddenly the fist is caught midway through. Donna peaks an eye opening, revealing a lone girl with jet black hair with golden streaks, clad in a grey and black bodysuit with both her hands on Mammoth’s fist, holding it there with immense super strength but delivering an uppercut to the villain, sending him flying to the complete outskirts of the city, shocking much of the HIVE and allowing Cassie and Donna to gain the edge; ultimately winning the battle and saving the day.
Shortly after the HIVE are apprehended by the Bludhaven PD, Subject 66 is immediately taken to Titans Tower, making formal introductions about what she knows about herself to the Titans and their adjacent Young Just Us team. It’s here thanks to DNA testing from Victor Stone aka Cyborg the Subject learns of her genetic progenitor being none other than Donna herself, a decision that no doubt would be a major shock but Donna, being the compassionate and rational woman she is, would take sympathy with this clone of hers, valuing her as her person and understanding her feelings for freedom. This especially gets prominent once Amanda Waller, Head of CADMUS and flanked by her Task Force X, arrives later on that day with the demands to get Subject 66 back under their custody.
Donna and Subject 66 however are insistent and persuasive with Waller; a back and forth that goes for about 1 hour and with the ultimatum that should the Subject being taken by CADMUS, the Titans won’t be afraid to reveal their many dirty secrets of all sorts of misbehavior to the public, Waller eventually backs down and allows Subject 66 to stay with the Titans and Donna in particular. Once the helicopter leaves the roof, Subject 66 gives a major hug to Donna in thankfulness for allowing her to stay with them, a hug Donna gives right back.
Over the course of the next few months, with weekly visits to Themyscira for enhancing and perfecting her training with the Amazons alongside Cassie in particular, forming a sort of mentor and mentee bond between them, forging her own custom made outfit heavily patterned after both Donna and Cassie’s while making it her own and meeting and befriending with the son of Donna’s close friend Nightwing, Jakand’r/Jake Grayson aka Skybird along his best friend Christopher Grayson Kent aka Nightwing Phantom, The clone also develops close bonds and connections with Donna and her birth son Robbie Long aka Darkstar, eventually also gaining a new civilian name once her adoption papers are fully completed: Penelope Haney Troy, ‘Penny’ for a nickname.
With that, she then declares her newfound crime fighting superhero identity of Hoplite, named after the elite warrior classes of many Ancient Greek city states, in particular Sparta. Also a proud de facto apprentice of Wonder Girl who Penelope looks up to as a de facto Aunt.
Occupation: 6th Grade Student of Bludhaven Academy, Amazonian Warrior in Training
Superhero Outfit: A Black and Gold Version of the NTT era Wonder Girl outfit Donna had worn with a skirt in place of pants, and the stars on it being pink and white. Complimenting the outfit is a pair of goggles once belonging to Cassie, given as a gift as a sign of their small yet strong bond growing overtime. When Penny offers said googles back, Cassie tells her not to worry as she’s got plenty of spares
Physical Appearance: Long and Combed Jet Black Hair with Golden Streaks
Bright Ocean Blue Eyes
Medium Frame with a Healthy Muscle Build Around the Arms
No Scars Present
Trivia
- A big fan of the Bratz Dolls, Penny has amassed a sizable and impressive collection with her allowance money and spare change. Despite good efforts to preserve them, she still allows others to play with them. Its one of the many things that she can share in common with Mar’i Grayson aka Nightstar
- Regarding her half brother Robbie, despite being younger than him age wise, she staunchly comes to his defense if any girls start flirting with him or pursue crushes on him. Already into her first year attending school, she’s scared off about three girls who she can sense can break his heart.
- Besides his Bis Sis Mar’i, Chris Kent and Jasper Logan, Penny Troy is the one person Jake can trust above all others and most definitely one of the ones he can both relate and confide to for nearly everything. The bond between Penny and Jake has been routinely compared to the strong platonic bond between their respective parents Donna and Dick Grayson aka Nightwing. It’s a comparison frankly none of them can deny
- Speaking of Jake and Chris, while she hasn’t joined their group Team StarKnights just yet, she’s still considered a proud honorary member. She even has her own bedroom set up at the StarKnights’ base whenever it’s needed.
- Like so many in this generation of heroes, Penny can clearly see the small crushes Jake and one girl from school Meredith Robinson have for each other despite their consistent denial of it. She often is among the many ones who try planning secret dates from those two. Seeing Jake blush every time he gets too to Meredith always being a playful grin to her face.
- A Fan of 70s to 80s Rock n Roll, in particular the band called Fleetwood Mac. Takes inspiration from said band to learn playing piano, harp and most importantly for her, a cowbell. As such is often present for when Chris and Jake reform their own band, The Sidekicks, along with Mar’i and Chris’ brother Jon Kent

Ruidus being tidally locked to Exandria must be wreaking havoc on its ecosystem.
In Bassuras, troops from Vasselheim swarm the streets. They are from various faiths and bastions, not just the Dawnfather's. Orym sees that beyond them, gathering supplies, there are three skyships of Othanzian make, not unlike the one they saw crashed in the Hellcatch.
There are three more skyships moored outside the city's walls. As they watch, one of the skyships is hit with a fiery bolt. It sets it ablaze, but doesn't bring it down, and it lists to one side, knocking into the one next to it, and soldiers start swarming toward it.
From the reaction of the civilian crowd, which seems to be very nonplussed, they gather that this has happened before. The ships have been there for a day or two, and more have come through to head north. There have been a handful of similar "issues" with the skyships and within the town.
Keyleth does some recon, and thinks she might know some people aboard them. She sets of on her own to inquire, and will meet the Bells Hells at noon.
Duct tape exists in Exandria, canon
They get to Imahara Joe's shop, and the door is locked. They open the door, and when Laudna throws her voice in, a figure throws a heavy javelin (or something) at the spot. With detect thoughts, Imogen detects nine additional people inside the shop.
Laudna climbs up to a grate on the roof and looks through. The shop is in slight disarray, and she can see a number of figures inside: three are standing against the front door, others are behind tables or crouching. Two are pushed into a corner in the far back room, under guard -- one is cloaked but has long, fuzzy ears and a rabbit-like face (Morrighan???), and the other is Imahara Joe.
Laudna gets hit with a crossbow bolt through the grate, and we roll initiative.
These are Paragon's Call operatives. The monk is wearing a pendant of the Duskmaven, and the uniform of the Call.
One of my favorite parts about CR combat is the open table thing. Like, it's 100% normal for players to just get up and leave for a while, or to go to the other side of the table to see that part of the map, or even to run behind the GM screen for a second (see: Ashley's entrance in C2E86).
One of the assailants is General Ratanish! He embeds a battleaxe into Chetney's shoulder, and fails his save against FCG's banishment, which completely changes the layout of this battle. It sounds like Ratanish was meant to be the central and most powerful figure in this fight, so getting him out of the way for 10 rounds is major.
(minor) Ashton Rage Build Update: their wormhole strike is a melee attack, not a ranged attack. This is relevant for abilities like the monk's deflect missiles.
Dancer joins the fray. She's an artificer, likely with the magic initiate feat to give her find familiar.
FCG build update: FCG's Changebringer coin is magical! Once per day, they can give themselves advantage on an attack roll. It's unclear whether they can apply this to any d20 roll, or just an attack.
Chetney aesthetic update: When Chetney transforms, his equipment -- including his armor -- stays on them.
One of the assailants hits an ally with their own spell, indicating that the Paragon's Call isn't a particularly close-knit group emotionally. Sounds similar to the Angel of Irons cult, honestly.
A good clarification: concentration save DCs are determined by the damage the caster takes, not the total damage dealt.
Ashton rage build update: When Ashton critically hits a creature, the next attack against that creature has advantage. When the space build is active, there's just a hole where their eyes should be, straight through to the back of their head.
One of the casters -- a druid -- transforms into a giant eagle, grabs Imahara Joe and the unknown figure, and tries to fly away. It's stuck in the doorway, just barely making it through and flying away.
Ashton uses their wormhole strike and knocks the fucker out of the air, and all three plumet down to the spiked wrought-iron fence --
and we go to break.
Ashton rage build update: When Ashton brings a creature to 0 hit points while their space build is active, violent gateway activates. This causes them to be pulled through a gateway they created, adjacent to the creature they reduced to 0, and Ashton decides to grab Imahara Joe and put their back between Imahara and the ground.
Orym jumps off the fence and tries to catch the other individual, using bait and switch to face his back to the ground.
Someone remind me to write another post about Ashton and the way they just willingly fell from the sky for someone they care for, the way they pivoted their own back to the ground to project Imahara, the way they put their own fractured body between Joe and the ground.
And, someone remind me to write a post about Orym in this moment, about how he immediately leaped, grabbed, and pivoted himself underneath a complete fucking stranger, planned to take the terminal velocity impact of a spiked fence to his back rather than let this mystery person get hurt.
Imogen is the MVP of the moment. She uses telekinesis to push the fence flat against the ground, so Orym and Ashton take fall damage instead of impaling damage. Orym, Ashton, the mystery figure, and Imahara all still take damage, but not nearly as much as they would've had the fence been there.
The mystery figure's hood falls back, and the Hells see that they're a lagamore -- a half human, half rabbit figure with floppy ears and brownish fur. (This is 100% Morrighan Ferun from EXU: Kymal, yeah?)
Everyone groups up frantically and forms a circle around the place where Ratanish will reappear. FCG heals Imahara. They all prepare attacks.
FCG drops banishment, and everyone's held actions go off. (Oh, how far Matt has come, from managing the fight in the Invulnerable Vagrant to this one.) 25 damage from Chetney. 38 damage from Laudna. 13 damage from FCG. 24 damage from Fearne and Mister. 24 damage from Imogen, and he's incapacitated until his next turn; she also uses call Ruidus, taking 5 points of damage to deal 6 more points of damage. 16 damage from Orym, he disarms Ratanish, then another 16 points --
Orym gets the HDYWTDT on Ratanish. He slices the weapon from his hand, then sticks his blade into the leg, spins him around, drops him so Ratanish's head falls in front of Ashton, and Ashton makes the final blow -- "you really should've killed me, that time." Ashton sticks the handle of the hammer into his chest, then all the way out. "You pull the soft bread out of the sub."
And combat ends with the death of General Ratanish, the Paragon Call's second-in-command beneath Otohan Thull. The druid bleeds out, failing all their death saves.
They shutter the windows and surveil the streets. There are people taking interest because they know and look up to Imahara Joe; but he himself addresses the crowd. "All good, folks! Just put the wrong connector to the wrong focal point... it's all good, I'm fine, go back to sleep." He slams the door and turns around to the Hells. "I am so happy to see you."
The other figure steps in. "Well, we have suddenly been put to task outside of our preferences..." Joe speaks up. "Everyone, this is Verna the Viper."
Lagamore are rare people in Exandria -- a fey-based people, so Fearne is familiar with them. They're a hare/bunny-folk -- Exandria's version of harengons.
Verna is a part of the Overmind Sect of tinkerers, who specializes in strange esoteric explosives.
Meanwhile, everyone else loots the bodies. They get a very fine battleaxe and set of boots from Ratanish. There is a little over 2300gp on Ratanish and the rest. There are also 7 golden Duskmaven pendants, which they put in the portable hole.
They also notice that on Ratanish, there is a brand of the Duskmaven's symbol -- a raven's skull -- on the inside of his left shoulder.
They present Ludinus' vest to Joe and Verna. Joe explains that after the "moon stuff" went down, Ratanish seized Joe's shop and ordered them to create explosives like the ones that hit the airship. They also had Verna and Joe building a "brumestone nullifier" that would disable brumestone -- which powers skyships -- in a certain radius.
On the vest, Imahara Joe remarks that it is of elven make, containing a mix of magics that should make it unstable but which are somehow in harmony. Whoever designed this was a genius, incredibly gifted. He has a grasp on it, and it seems repairable, but he'll need time.
Both Imahara and Verna start to grab things from throughout the shop that they'll need to repair the harness. They take everything useful from Imahara's shop as guards approach. Laudna projects a ghostly image to scare the guards, and they all escape through the back door and the bent fence.
By this time, they have a number of hours before they need to meet Keyleth, so they head to Hondir's safehouse.
Imahara looks at the vest more closely. "It seems like the device can attach to a powerful magical source, whether it be object, creature, or location, and channel or syphon the energy into the back of the neck of the wearer... mind you, raw energies being infused into an incompatible host will likely destroy the host unless they are inscribed with similar runes or share a similar essence. This one... this one seems specific, but I suppose it could be adjusted by a powerful enough enchanter once repaired."
Two things: this implies that a) Ludinus is a fey entity of some sort, and that b) it could be used on any one of the Bells Hells if its runes are adjusted. Each of the Hells seems to have a material source of their power that the vest could be tuned to (i.e. fey for Fearne, elemental for Ashton, arcana for FCG, etc).
Residuum is apparently an important material used to make or enchant the vest, and Imahara Joe needs some to repair it, so the Bells Hells gives him what they have left.
They discuss sending Imahara, Verna, and Dancer to Whitestone so Percy can help them tinker with the vest, and apparently Imahara knows him as "the Terrible Tinkerer of Tal'dorei."
Ashton and Imogen head toward the Deathwish Run to ask about Pocket. It seems like, given the recent activity, Pocket has gone underground, along with most of Bassuras' criminals.
Plan B is to find Justie at the All Minds Burn. When they arrive, they are greeted by Shady Sally, one of the nobodies. "Well! Pleasant surprise to see you still alive." When Imogen contacts her telepathically, she senses one mind shared among each of the people in the chamber, like background radiation in their thoughts.
Ashton rage build update: As a reaction when someone misses (or possibly hits, since Tal said that Ashton took the hit) them with an attack, Ashton can roll their rage build die and cause an effect based on that. Time causes the target to fall prone.
"I spent so much time indentured to that fucking bitch (Jiana Hexum) to pay off your debts. Now, we're gonna get even." They want Sally to gather up the Nobodies.
Justie swoops down and stares into the hole in Ashton's head. "You haven't been in here yet... it's like a fucking funhouse in there." "Okay... there's someone I'd like you to meet." She hands them a mask to cover their nose and mouth.
All walls here are covered with this crawling black dust, like mold or some kind of fungus. It's the same as the residue at the corner of the eyes of those who connect psychically to the All Minds Burn.
"It asked for you." Justie leads them to a chamber. When Imogen drops her defenses just a little bit, she senses an oppressive mind, and the minute she shows a minute opening, it pushes into her will -- not quite invasively, but scarily. The presence is alien, unlike anything she's experienced -- fractured, but unified. Odd, but not dangerous. Yet.
The smell moves from mustiness to rotten citrus and dry moss. The mold becomes thicker, textured, like puss-colored veins. The stairs grow soft beneath their feet. The chamber is massive, and in the middle, a "mass of organic matter of that same twisted yellowish-green, striations of black. Skeletal remains bound and attached and held within, skulls pushing through, all tied up into it. And there's this faint glow just beneath the skin-like surface of the mass, 20 feet tall."
This is 100% an Elder Brain, right? Just reskinned to be fungus-like?
"How old is this?" At Imogen's question, the mass pulses, and all the skulls turn their eye sockets to her. It doesn't speak with words, but with thought and replicated emotion, like it's learned from watching others. These thoughts are not natural to itself. Justie speaks up. "This is the All Minds Burn... [the skeletons] were those who, at the end of their days, rejoined, when it was time."
Imogen reaches out to it psychically. "How old are you?" There are splashes of memory from the individuals that are part of this mass. Their body is gone, but they still hold a fraction of life connected to it. She sees many lifetimes go by -- hundreds of years, maybe. Not as ancient as other parts of Exandria, expanding slowly. "Where do you come from?" It isn't quite sure, but it wants to meet more, it's just... this is its home, and it's hard for it to go further. But it lives a little bit through the eyes of those that take of it.
As Ashton speaks about the thing in his head, Imogen senses that the All Minds Burn is sort of hesitant to connect to Ashton. It's probing her memories, cross-referencing, and she lets it -- her childhood, riding horses, destroying a city block of Bassuras. Drinking water by the river with her father, her first cry as she was born under the red light of Ruidus -- pulling back to watching Laudna die, being a young girl collecting firebugs, stepping through the dark shadow of this chamber, being above the moon and seeing Exandria in the sky. Then it withdraws.
Imogen gets the sense that it wants to help. "It [Ruidus] will put an end to all of us. To all of you." It acknowledges that. "If we took part of you with us, if we had people inhale, would you be able to see through them or use them?" It might be able to temporarily do so, but its strongest connections take time. However, it recalls again parts of Imogen's memory -- the dust storms, the red, the dry, arid landscapes, and there is a longing, a curiosity. "You wanna see the moon?" A little portion of its central "stalk" seems to split slightly and a hard shell the size of an orange rolls to Imogen's feet.
It's a "brood pit." Justie tells them to take it, and Ashton picks it up. "What do we do with this?" Imogen recalls being in the storm, in the red. "It wants to be seeded... maybe... you have our aid, there are many of us who are a part of it, when you need us, we can be of aid. All that we ask, all that it asks, is that if you go, take it with you and leave it there."
The All Minds Burn pushes into Imogen's mind again, not unkindly but adamant. It will help, and when it offers to help, she gets a glimpse of the many, many minds around the city, in the valley and beyond that it can call upon when the time is right.
As they leave, everyone who had been staring at them cautiously instead bows to them. "We'll be back." "I know -- we know."
Ashton finally feels like they're important, like they matter. "Every hit feels like a hit someone else doesn't have to take... I have spent my entire life taking up and being ignored. And I'm starting to learn that it's the things you ignore that get you in the end, one by one."
The All Minds Burn sounds very much like an Elder Brain, and I honestly can't tell if it wants to go to Ruidus because it's related to it somehow, or just because it's the most appealing environment it found in Imogen's memory. It only being a few hundred years old kind of rules out it being related to Ruidus' creation or early history, but it could be that it fell from Ruidus sometime later and is trying to get home. It being near the Tishtan site makes this more likely, I think, since Ruidus passed directly over it during this solstice.
They meet back up with Keyleth. She did know someone on the ships; she learned that forces from across Exandria -- not just Issylran or religious forces -- have traveled to the Hellcatch and are forming a circle of barricades and battlements around what they're referring to as "the Bloody Bridge." Their orders are to hold and only attack in retaliation. There's a sizeable army surrounding and protecting the Tishtan site, and no one's quite certain what it's capable of; their abilities in the skirmishes that have happened are mysterious and unrecognized. Right now, it's a cold war, but both sides are fearful that this holding pattern is giving the other side more time to execute their plans, so Keyleth predicts that it won't be long before someone has to make a move.
Keyleth also agrees to take Verna, Imahara, and Dancer to Whitestone.
Next episode, they head to the Shattered Teeth to find Jirana and Evan'travir!

RWBY DC AU, Superhero Shenanigans #1
Batwoman/Blake(scolding Ilia): Your recklessness has gone too far!
Batgirl/Ilia(retorting as Blake facepalms and Emerald and Whitley chuckle in amusement): WRONG, IT CAN GO EVEN FURTHER!!!
——
Zoom/Mercury(racing towards Jaune with a smirk): I’m your reverse in every way!
The Flash/Jaune(annoyed): Then why aren’t you a slow, fat girl?!
——
Wonder Woman/Winter(piloting the Justice League’s Javelin aircraft and seeing Pyrrha fly past with Young Justice in her old stealth plane): …
Troia/Pyrrha(seeing her mentor fly past and activate the stealth function, turning the aircraft invisible): !!!
Green Arrow/Sun(seeing the aircraft fade out): Was she just piloting your Invisible Jet?
Wonder Woman(facing forward again): Yes…
Blue Beetle/Weiss(looking at Winter with a raised brow): Without your permission?
Wonder Woman(annoyed look on her face): Yes…
Star Sapphire/Nora(amused): You’re going to chew out for doing it, aren’t you?
Wonder Woman(tightly gripping the controls): Oh definitely…
——
Robin/Whitley(introducing Emerald and Ilia to the rest of Young Justice): These are my “sisters”, they’ll be joining Young Justice.
Kid Flash/Oscar(confused): I thought your sisters were Blue Beetle and Wonder Woman?
Batgirl(smirking): They are…
Orphan/Emerald(testing her chin on top Whitley’s head with a grin): We’re his “Bat-siblings”!
Superboy/Adrien(raising a brow in amusement): “Bat-siblings”?
Orphan(explaining as Robin moves out from under her): That’s what we refer to ourselves. The kids taken into the “Batfamily”.
Robin(sighing): They keep insisting that me and my sisters refer to them as our “siblings”…
——
Kid Flash(running on a treadmill): Why isn’t this treadmill breaking apart under my speed?
The Flash(smirking as his nephew runs): Your Aunt Ruby helped me design and build this one, we call it the “Cosmic Treadmill”.
Green Lantern/Ruby(checking their nephew’s vitals): It’s designed to withstand his speed and allow him to better control the destination he ends up at when he uses the Speedforce.
Aquaman/Neptune(arms crossed): It would get annoying when he accidentally ended up going too far back whenever he tried to time-travel and prevent an explosion from killing all of us…
Green Lantern/Ren: There were also times he would accidentally go FORWARD in time and we would end up with TWO Jaune’s for awhile.
Kid Flash(surprised): WE CAN TIME TRAVEL?!?!?!
Superwoman/Yang(explaining to her son): Yeah, the Speedforce exists everywhere and everyWHEN, you can use it to enter the time stream.
Sage(seeing his son speed up): What are you doing?
Kid Flash(as the treadmill starts letting off sparks): I’m going back and getting the last cup of hot chocolate before Fate does!
Everyone(frightened and trying to stop him): NO, DON’T!!!
Oscar disappears as a portal opens up before him and he runs into it and it closes behind him in a bright flash of light.
Kid Flash(zipping into the room after traveling back to yesterday and back with a cup of hot chocolate in his hands): I GOT…
Kid Flash(seeing everyone wearing different costumes): It?…
The Flash(wearing the Future’s End costume, fully blue with sky blue lightning): We were trying to tell you!
Aquaman(shirtless and with a hook in place of his left hand): Everytime you go back in time and change something…
Blue Lantern/Ruby(wearing blue instead of green with a different emblem): It creates what we call a “Time Boom”!
White Lantern/Ren(wearing a fully white costume): Like a sonic boom, but it can change a lot of unrelated events throughout time.
Superman/Sage(wearing the classic Superman costume, looking at his hands in shock): This is odd…
Yang(dressed like a reporter, admiring her husband’s physique): Speak for yourself…
Green Arrow(wearing the Arrow season 4 costume, and feeling his lower back): My tail’s gone…
Kid Flash(eyes wide): I can fix this!
The Flash(holding his hand up): Let me…
Jaune suddenly races out of the room with a huge burst of blue lightning, causing a bright light to flash as he breaks the time barrier.
The Flash(racing back into the room in his proper costume): There!
The Flash(as everyone looks like they originally did): I countered Oscar’s time boom with my own…
Kid Flash(wearing a yellow and red costume with a simple lightning bolt without a circle/ring around it, Classic Wally West Kid Flash): Umm…
The Flash(waving off his nephew’s concern): Relax, that’s just cosmetic, we can fix it.
