    “Everything we love about civilization is a product of intelligence, so             amplifying our human intelligence with artificial intelligence has the             potential of helping civilization flourish like never before – as long as           we manage to keep the technology beneficial.

What is AI ??

Artificial Intelligence or AI is a section of Machine Learning. In novice words, Artificial intelligence refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think, respond, mimic like humans. Technically, may also be defined as the capability of machines to think logically and intelligently.

From SIRI to self-driven cars to the robots with humanly features it has come a long way in making the MNC big notch companies of the generation. 

 Why AI in headline ??

Stephen Hawking, Elon Musk, Steve Wozniak, Bill Gates, and many other big names in science and technology have recently expressed concern in the media and via open letters about the risks posed by AI, joined by many leading AI researchers. 

Because AI has the potential to become more intelligent than any human, we have no surefire way of predicting how it will behave. We can’t use past technological developments as much of a basis because we’ve never created anything that has the ability to, wittingly or unwittingly, outsmart us. The best example of what we could face may be our own evolution. People now control the planet, not because we’re the strongest, fastest or biggest, but because we’re the smartest. 

Applications of Artificial Intelligence

The applications for artificial intelligence are endless. The technology can be applied to many different sectors and industries. AI is being tested and used in the healthcare industry for dosing drugs and different treatment in patients, and for surgical procedures in the operating room.

Other examples of machines with artificial intelligence include computers that play chess and self-driving cars. Each of these machines must weigh the consequences of any action they take, as each action will impact the end result. In chess, the end result is winning the game. For self-driving cars, the computer system must account for all external data and compute it to act in a way that prevents a collision.

Google puts artificial intelligence center stage

If you plugged into Google’s launch event this week, you would have noticed how the ‘hardware’ event was actually all about ‘software’ called Google Assistant. The Assistant is voice-enabled artificial intelligence (AI) software that bundles machine learning, the Google Knowledge Graph, and voice and image recognition natural language processing (NLP) to build a “personal Google for each and every user”

“We’re at a seminal moment in computing,” CEO Sundar Pichai declared at the Made by Google event. The Indian-born stressed how technology development today is shifting from a “mobile-first” world to an “AI-first” world. And Google is making that shift by stuffing artificial intelligence in its built-from-scratch Pixel smartphones and the Google Home smart devices .

The AI revolution

The search giant wants to turn AI into a personal helpdesk agent for you by utilizing over 70 billion facts about people, places and things which are fed into its Knowledge Graph. This database is, of course, powered by years of search queries made by people like you and I.

Google’s vision for the Assistant isn’t limited to a ‘OK Google’ kind of thing. Pichai pointed out that he wants the Assistant to become as integral a part of people’s lives as the Google’s homepage has become. Based on an open-development platform, the company sees the Assistant as a chatbot connected to TVs, speakers etc., capable of holding a “two-way conversation”. Google is offering open SDKs for developers to build conversational AI experiences, like ordering groceries or playing a game .“Ask it for a brief update on your day or to play a video on YouTube, look up traffic on the way home from work, find photos or when the nearest pharmacy closes. The Assistant can also offer help with what’s on-screen in any app. So if your friend texts you to meet up at a new restaurant, you can just say ‘navigate there’,” the company said in a statement.

Google Assistant

Google Assistant is Google’s next generation way of searching with Google. Rather than providing links to websites, Google Assistant is designed to have conversations with you in order to complete tasks.

Google Assistant can come up with answers when you converse with it. For example, ask “how old is Stephen Colbert,” and it will give you his age. Ask then simply “how tall is he,” and it understands you want Colbert’s height, even though you never said his name again. But this isn’t something new or unique to Google Assistant. Google’s acted this way with spoken queries since 2013. Also, Siri is getting smarter about handling these types of conversations, too.

What can Google Assistant do?

Google Assistant offers voice commands, voice searching, and voice-activated device control, letting you complete a number of tasks after you've said the "OK Google" or "Hey Google" wake words. It is designed to give you conversational interactions.

Find information online, from restaurant bookings to directions, weather and news

Control your music

Play content on your Chromecast or other compatible devices

Run timers and reminders

Make appointments and send messages
