So as I mentioned before, Young Justice was interrupted by a whole “Sins of Youth” event where everyone’s ages were screwed up.

Hopefully I can rapid fire these next few segments

Starting with the SUFFERING. If you thought we had seen the last of horny Aquaman you were sorely mistaken because after the Justice League got control of the Watchtower, they started planning.

And what was Aquaman doin?

Good ol’ teenage Arthur Curry is getting an eyeful of Power Girl, That’s either Jade or Fire, and we don’t even who that is in the left screen. And don’t think it’s over, his story is literally next.

I don’t even know how to respond to this.

Are these women also teenagers? Are they full grown adults? Do they know Arthur is a teenager or do they think he’s a short adult?? Does him being an adult trapped in the wrong body make this okay? Is anything okay?

I get what this is about, it’s about displaying an adolescent fantasy, the idea that

“you! yes YOU, young cis heterosexual person reading this comic would love this exact fantasy! To be so cool that conventionally attractive women will just flock to you just for being you!

Aquaman is living your dream right before your eyes!

Yeah, redheads. Like your wife, Arthur.

And here comes Lagoon Boy to save the day! I want to talk about Lagoon Boy for a second. I feel like the main reason why this story is in the Young Justice trade paperback (Other than the fact Klarion the Witch Boy kidnaps Blsck Manta at the end) is because there is some metric that considers Lagoon Boy to be Young Justice.

Which isn’t even tangentially true. He showed up during Young Justice’s crossover with Batman: No Man’s Land because he’s a surface world nerd. And I think he was around for one other thing maybe.

Arrowette was more of a YJ member after she quit than he is. But it almost feels like someone thought he should be there but couldn’t figure out how.

And it’s not like I don’t want Lagoon Boy, I just don’t know if sidekicking for the king of the seas gives him that kind of opportunity.

And then!

I don’t have anything to add about that kiss that wasn’t already said in the series of questions I posed earlier in the post. We know WHY this has happened from a Doyalist perspective .

So, a lot of this series covers is what feelings that are involved when you’re at certain stages of your life. Aquaman feels like the weight of the oceans are no longer on his shoulders. I can’t imagine the pressure he’s been under his whole life. But now he feels free when he’s a teenager. And Lagoon Boy feels that in the other way, that being grown allows you to accomplish more without being looked down or underestimated.

There’s some nice sentiments here. But first we gotta have Lagoon Boy being petty about wanting to be called Lagoon Man, and letting his libido get himself tricked.

I don’t think you’ve earned the “Man” in your name yet, uh.. uh….

Oh wow, he does not even have a name, he’s just “Lagoon Boy.”

Let’s move on. Okay, Batboy and Robin!

Now this is cute. Look at Tim. He’s so nervous about the mask.

I’m amused by Bruce being like “Was this costume always this small, how do to you Robins do this?”

Tim: “Well first of all we didn’t start our 9th year of life hitting the protein to be grow up to become vengeance.”

Alfred is so stressed.

Now that he’s behind the wheel so to speak, Tim’s asking the important questions about himself and his identity.

and honestly, I think he is the best candidate, with a caveat. I think he should co-Batman. I think that as the second best detective, Tim should get to be the brain of Batman and as the best fighter of all of them Cassandra Cain should be the brawn of Batman.

I think between them they can truly live up to the Batman legacy and become the night after he’s gone.

so the story here is that they’re going to Zatanna for help but she gets kidnapped. I already talked about how uncomfortable I felt about how sexually charged her kidnapping scenes were so we’re just gonna get to the funny bits

Like how Tim Drake is a bad Batman on his very first step. Dude didn’t even have time to be wrong and he already reasonably treated Commissioner Gordon like a superior than a friend. Easy mistake to make when you’re so used to a strict and serious Batman you forget that he’s human.

Talking too much, you know, like a Robin.

Man, it’s amazing how being laconic solves all your problems.

So after some uncomfortable scenes, we save Zatanna and hope her magic is exactly what we need. Let’s see what she can do.
