Behind the Scenes of Day of the Doctor (Part 18)
Excerpts from Benjamin Cook’s interview with David Tennant and Matt Smith from DWM #467
DWM: This 50th Anniversary Special is going to air across the world [simulcast in over 75 countries], and be screened in cinemas - in 3D - and at the 50th Celebration at ExCel in front of something like 6,000 people. Are you scared? Matt Smith: That's interesting. I mean, you're always a bit... because that 6,000, it's going to get bigger, isn't it? You can't think, 'It's ten million. No, it's 20 million. No, it's - ' Because it's the anniversary. And there are certain people coming back, and that adds another bit of fairy dust." David Tennant: All these people going to the cinema... does that mean the TV viewing figures are going to be down? That's what I want to know. Matt Smith: But it'll be in the cinema! You know what you can do? I've never been able to do this, but... sneak into your own film. Shall we do it? David Tennant: You and me? Matt Smith: Yeah! Let's! [Laughs] Actually, I don't know why we would, because we'll have seen it like five times by then. But we could, in theory

craftyballoonwinner mentioned you on a post "anna always got to prove to us she still got her…”
I can't wait for @nightgoodomens and @ingravinoveritas takes on today. Something happened and while I'm happy to not have GM around the fact it was MS&DT ALL night makes my eyebrows raise.
@craftyballoonwinner It has taken me the last few days to process everything that happened on Friday, because to say that I am floored by what we got is a tremendous understatement.
We knew that Michael had been in London and had specifically gotten a house in Chiswick close to David's house since November of last year, for his run in Nye at the National Theatre. We knew that the second run in Cardiff ended on June 1st and that as soon as it did, Michael immediately came back to London. We knew that--schedules and work/family commitments allowing--they were likely spending a great deal of time together (despite only seeing three pictures of them over the course of that entire interval: The Macbeth photo, the blurry pic that Anna posted back in November, and the photo from Lapland last December).
The smallest pieces, flashes of something beautiful and bright yet still obscured, ensconced from public view. So much so that I never in a million years expected Michael to come to Pub in the Park--hoped, certainly, but the thought of it actually happening seemed like a distant dream, a dazzling impossibility.
But this past Friday was just...so extraordinary and lovely precisely because it was ordinary. It wasn't a press junket or an interview or Michael and David promoting something...it was just them. The two of them together, basking in the warmth of each other's presence. It was there even in the first picture I saw, and it permeated through every clip, every moment of them at the event:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The smiles. The ease and comfort they have around each other. The effortless love that just exists between Michael and David, and that is tangible in every dimension, as much on a screen as in real life. And when they were on stage together, it wasn't even that they played off each other so well--it was that Michael's last minute appearance didn't cause either of them to lose so much as a step. It was that you just knew that they couldn't have put any other two people up on that stage without prior planning and had that same chemistry, that charm and familiarity. And it was just so damn wonderful to see Michael and David looking so happy and joyful overall.
As for what happened with Georgia, I am just more confused than anything else. For the last month and a half, Georgia heavily promoted PitP, and both she and David billed her as a co-host. Every flyer, every piece of promotion that was shared (both by the PitP social media and Georgia) mentioned her as a co-host, along with David. She even did an interview on the Gaby Roslin podcast with David and Arabella Weir where she was again specifically referred to as a co-host and admitted not knowing her own Instagram handle, as well as saying that she would be active on Insta during the PitP event.
There is a strange irony to the podcast as well, given that David actually said "We're failing our hosting duties right here!" in the above linked clip, and what seemed like a joke at the time actually came to pass. For whatever reason, Georgia failed in her duty, the job that she signed up to do. Had it been because of all the attacks that David was a target of over the past week after the blow-up with Kemi Badenoch, Rishi Sunak, and the entire Tory party, that would have made sense. I would have completely understood if Georgia, who had also been targeted in those attacks, was feeling anxious or worried about her/the kids' safety and elected to stay home instead.
However...Georgia didn't stay home. She actually was at the event, as were several of their kids (Ty and Olive, from what I've seen). She was there, drinking and dancing, and somehow that made her abdication of co-hosting duty even more conspicuous and strange. It also makes it increasingly obvious that Michael's appearance on stage was a last minute occurrence and not part of the original plan of events.
So what actually happened? I don't know. None of us know, and it's likely we won't know until a later time, if ever. But in the real world, if you are given a job to do, if a contract is signed with a written agreement to do that job and you don't do the job, there are consequences. At the very least, it can negatively affect someone's reputation and reduce the likelihood of them receiving offers for future jobs. On the other end, you could be looking at potential lawsuits for things like breach of contract. And none of this even gets into disappointed fans or attendees who might've been hoping to see Georgia host and who could possibly now claim to be victims of false advertising because she didn't.
It also feels like a huge missed opportunity on the part of PitP, who could have potentially raised hundreds or even thousands of pounds more for charity had Michael been booked as a co-host, or even a guest. Regardless of whether Michael was there in an official capacity, though, I am just glad that he was there, and that we got to see the two of them together again.
The night may have lacked the glitz and formal glamour of the NTAs, but it more than made up for it with the relaxed domesticity we got to see between Michael and David. And now that Michael is hanging around London a bit longer, hopefully there will be many more memorable nights like this to come.

Fancasting The Secret History
sharing my vision of who could play these classics students
Tumblr media
i tried to be as realistic as possible, considering their book descriptions and casting actors close in age to each other and their characters. after seeing so many of the same names in these fancasts, i wanted to throw some new ones in the mix!
Tumblr media
henry's a big guy, dark-haired, square-jawed, bespectacled — he basically looks like clark kent/superman. so my thought process went to henry cavill look-alike, jamie flatters (b. 2000). coincidentally, my old fancast was david corenswet, so i guess it all checks out. i only know jamie from avatar: the way of water, but based on his music videos, i think he's got the acting chops to capture henry's more unhinged side that he lets slip idk
Tumblr media
to me, bunny is the most american out of the group because of his family background, it's even described as "an upbringing vitally present in Bunny in every respect, from the way he shook your hand to the way he told a joke." saw this rudy pankow (b. 1998) casting suggestion on mycast and it just made total sense to me. having watched him as jj maybank in outer banks, i know he can capture how obnoxious bunny can be, and he'll do well trying to annoy every character and pushing their buttons.
Tumblr media
admittedly, this was a hard one because i originally had tom glynn-carney in mind but i wanted someone younger, so i didn't go too far and went with ty tennant (b. 2002) who's played the younger version of his characters twice now. i mean if you think about it, aegon ii targaryen and charles have a couple things in common: both are alcoholics and have an incestuous relationship with their sister 😭 since charles and camilla look androgynous and described as angels, i figured ty looks the part. i also believe in ty's acting skills to portray charles' complexity as the story goes on.
Tumblr media
i thought of young actresses who resembled ty and went with thomasin mckenzie (b. 2000), who i loved in jojo rabbit and last night in soho. i know thomasin would look good as a blonde, but more importantly, she's got the face for period dramas. camilla is enigmatic, but i think richard just saw her as like an ingénue, so i figured thomasin can do that layered performance.
Tumblr media
thought and long hard for who to cast as francis because i'm so tired of seeing the same redhead actors or some random redhead model 😭 thank goodness luther ford (b. 1999/2000) has been discovered. his portrayal in the crown sold me because it was very francis of him to just sit around drinking booze and smoking while dressed in modern princely clothing.
Tumblr media
another inspired casting suggestion i saw on mycast — physically, i think dominic sessa (b. 2002) truly fits the bill; i like that he's not your conventionally good-looking guy too. acting-wise, he was incredible in the holdovers. and i believe he could put so much more personality to richard papen's character.
might make a part 2 for other characters like julian morrow and judy poovey :> thanks for checking this out and let me know if you see the vision!
p.s. it's never gonna happen but it'd be interesting to just see this set of actors get together because they seem like a bunch of introverts 😭 they might bond over taking film photos of each other though so that's cool

BBC Ghosts Season 2 : Life references
After months of putting it off, Season 2 is finally finished!
Episode 1 - The Grey Lady
Captain’s “For King and Country” is in reference to George VI
Thomas references Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare
Julian plays ping pong and says it takes him back to the David Lloyd in Chelsea
Julian spoils the World Cup quarterfinals for Pat, implying he watched it when alive
Mary was mostly illiterate
A 14th century grindstone is found in the cellar
Captain unsurprisingly mentions the war again
Julian thinks he can do an impression of Nelson Mandela
Thomas does an impression of an earl, but I couldn’t find anything on them so please excuse my lack of British know how
Fanny appears in photos
Julian didn’t believe in ghosts when he was alive
Pat lists his skills in life: knot-tying, tent-pitching, archery
Julian references Newsnight
Fanny has been to a sideshow
I’m assuming Pat and Julian are referencing Bruce Forsyth, which Julian has before
Not a life thing, but I find it interesting that both Robin and Captain have said ghosts can’t feel the cold, only for Captain to question it
Side note: Thomas’ cheese commercial made me hungry
Fanny’s dress is made of silk
I like to think Captain talking to Dante’s taxidermy means he likes dogs
Pat likes pop quizzes
Captain likes running, a no brainer
Captain remarks that he’s in his prime and that’s he’s still got it, implying that he at least believed he was in good health when alive
Episode 2 - About Last Night
Mick the plague ghost comes back the village they’ll eventually die in
Mick claims to have had an orange, have seen a bear kill a man, and met the king and went fishing
He brought salt and clothes for the other plague ghosts, which led to their deaths
Side note: Mick coughing up the blood was so scary to me, dying from a sickness
Thomas may be able to cook, since he says he wished he could make Alison breakfast - lamb’s kidney and onion- before being cut off. I wonder if Thomas learned or liked to cook
Thomas acknowledges he wasn’t formally invited to the party, a custom he’s used to
None of the surrounding villages were struck with plague
Captain asks to watch a war documentary while Pat wants to watch football
Julian believed that you should drink more alcohol when hung over
Mary offers a remedy: mushrooms soaked in goats milk and vinegar till it’s warm
Pat says that cola is good for a hang over
Side note again: Thomas is really sweet when he informs Alison of Dante’s disappearance, or the multiple times he’s wished to help her with things like cooking and cleaning. We love a helpful king
Fanny loved Dante like her own child according to Thomas, and she once told Julian she loved Dante more anything else in the world. If she did have kids, I wonder if the relationship was strained. Also, it’s such a notable fact that everyone knows it, including ghosts that weren’t around for Fanny’s life
I know he’s easily coerced into not doing it, but the fact that Captain wanted to tell Fanny immediately that Dante was missing is very sweet
Julian has extensive experience in public inquiries, specifically being the one getting asked the questions
Julian describes how it make an alcoholic drink to Alison
Kitty’s heard white wine helps with stains
Fanny is not fond of mice
Mary thinks Veronica, Clive and Annie are nice names. I won’t include Daniel because it was her having a close call with Daniel
Dante used to like sitting by the fire
Episode 3 - Redding Weddy
Captain’s soldiers at Button House were apparently prone to giggling and horseplay
Introduction of Captain’s Lieutenant, Havers
We see Captain being informed that France has surrendered, which occurred in June 1940
Captain requested a service revolver
Lieutenant Havers had an emergency lockdown initiated shortly after
Havers informs Captain he wants to be involved in fighting, and has put in a transfer for the North Africa front
Pat is, unsurprisingly, well versed in activity badges, and everyone else can recite them
Robin knows how to skin a mammoth
Julian, my dear, you are way off. It took Mary more than 300 years to talk about the witch trial if she did indeed die in the 1610s
Pat likes Top Gun
Julian references Chariots of Fire from 1981, Mississippi Burning from 1988 and The Towering Inferno from 1974
Little reference to the next episode when Thomas says he would show Julian his glove if he had one. Also, the wedding guy says the backyard looks like a bomb site, when it literally is one. Stuff like that make the show so much cooler
Julian used to do boxing for Cambridge
Pat says s'il vous plaît
Fanny and Kitty read Lady Chatterley’s Lover by D. H. Lawrence
Julian references the Suez crisis
Thomas references Jack and the Beanstalk
Pat calls the laptop the computer that folds
Pat was with Carol at her parents’ house when the moon landing happened, eating fish and chips and trying a jumbo battered sausage for the first time
Julian was a student at Cambridge when the moon landing happened and having his first threesome
Captain claims that his dog Barry is buried where the bomb is, which is obviously untrue, but he also says that where they buried their pets, plural. I like to think Cap’s soldiers had a few dogs about
Captain has a letter with William written on it, which he tucks into his clothes. Captain says he was just thinking about Havers, which would later link to how they both knew about operation William
Havers gets a new service revolver
Captain has poster in his office about men wanted in the army, and also a wall full of books
Captain and his soldiers played cricket
Julian references 9 1/2 weeks, a 1986 erotic movie
Thomas always chooses pistol
Julian sold 50 crates of AK-47 assault rifles to the Libyans in 1983 to pay for his orangery
Julian uses a grenade and a flamethrower on Thomas, I don’t know if his “I’m melting” line is meant to reference the Wizard of Oz or not
The statue outside, Florence, was one of Kitty’s best friends
Kitty’s sister would pretend to not be able to find her when playing hide and seek
Kitty once hid for a whole day and night, and got so hungry she had to eat a bit of her purse
I mean it’s just meant to look funny and be a reference but Julian can canonically spin a ball on one finger
Nobody has ever found Kitty during hide and seek
Nice canon Cap in a coat, love a bit of that
He also smokes, or at least fiddles the occasional pipe
Oh and he threw that envelope into the hole with the bomb
Captain buried a prototype limpet mine, which was so secret only he and Havers knew about it, along with the blueprints
Captain talks bomb mechanics with Robin, the cutest thing I’ve ever seen
Pat knows about 2001: A Space Odyssey
Robin thinks the earth is flat
There’s a bit of speculation here: I can’t actually say with absolute certainty that Captain really saw Havers go. Maybe it’s wishful thinking that Havers would turn back and salute one last time, maybe it did happen, maybe it didn’t
Episode 4 - The Thomas Thorne Affair
Robin would wear a space suit, Mary a seashell dress, Tom double denim with aviators, Julian misses pants, Pat’s wearing his lovely gist, Kitty wears the same as Alison, and Captain would wear his uniform
Julian is unsurprisingly well versed in political tactics like the spin
Captain identifies a musket ball
It’s the one that made Thomas very dead
This is another thing I’m uncertain about: whether Thomas feels pain or just does it for dramatic affect
Quick side note before sad Thomas lore, I think I forgot to mention last time that Julian mentioned Great Expectations
Thomas died October 10th, 1824
Thomas came to Button House when it was owned by the Highams’, Thomas and Francis were invited
They can both ride horses
Thomas had stated the house was pleasant to look at, but he wouldn’t want to live there (rippppp)
Thomas was in love with Isabelle Higham
Thomas wrote a poem called Hermione and Roger and recited in front of everyone ( turns out he always sucked, but his poetry didn’t really sound that bad to me in this episode )
Isabelle played the harpsichord
I always wonder during this episode how Thomas remembers his death so wrongly, whether he’s lying about it or simply so horrified he forgot I don’t know
Even so, I think Thomas genuinely was in love and didn’t misinterpret as much before Isabelle
Thomas challenged some guy to a duel, we love a gun brandishing king
Francis is a bitch- anyway back to Thomas
Thomas went twenty paces instead of ten, should’ve listened to ten duel commandments Thomas
The first animation with the spinning paper thing was shown
Monster munch, no words
Julian with his bloody playboy magazine, I’m not surprised
First mention of Annie, Mary’s bestie
Humphrey is such a lovely soul, learning to admire the little things like shoes
Okay wait, Alison says “you’ve literally got forever” which parallels Captain’s “we’ve got forever”
HOLD UP THAT DUEL GUY WAS INSULTING MARY SHELLEY
HOW DARE HE
Thomas shot a bird and apologised before he died
Isabelle never came to see Thomas before he passed, he was left alone to die
Julian cried at Thomas’ death
Francis rigged the whole thing to trick Thomas and Isabelle in order to get Higham House
Francis and Isabelle’s son was George’s grandfather
Everyone is related through Robin and his sister
Poor Tom, you stay how you die and that letter isn’t going anywhere
Episode 5 - Bump in the Night
Cap likes to count with Humphrey’s hands
Captain tells Alison of life from the knees “Trust me, you don’t want a hernia” either he had one or knew someone who did
Humphrey knows that hedgehogs will leave flees in the rug
Also Captain and Humphrey’s exchange “Pick me up at six. Literally” “Very good” is so cute
Fanny references oyster forks
She assumes they’re eating oysters at the wedding
Julian sings “I’ll make love to you” by Boyz II Men
Humphrey on guard is cute
Captain does his own little vocalisation of what I’m assuming is a long way to Tipperary
Kitty assumes the intruders are there for a masked ball
Julian references the Bramptons and assumes it’s insurance fraud
Captain knows it’s a burglary
Pat tries to put them under a citizens arrest, so cute
Pat references Borstal
Alison taught Kitty acronyms - Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain
Captain calls the police the constabulary
“Burglary in process”
Captain - “why is no one ever alive when you need them?” Very telling, Cap
Julian gets worried Margaret Thatcher is dead. Too late Julian
Fanny admires the brushwork of her portrait
Cap and Pat watched Star Wars
Julian worries about getting RSI
Pat, Cap and Julian know Morse code
Julian lobbied against an animal welfare bill
Robin always gets excited by fire
Captain says he could have Robin shot off desertion, scaring Thomas
Alison meets a ghost who died hitchhiking. I find that to be an interesting concept, as the ghost is more based on the archetype. Makes me think about if Robin’s ability or character was created first
Robin howls for the dogs
Uh, Pat talks about drugs going in unsavoury places
Fanny would make a good criminal
Captain says he fought in an actual battle, it’s difficult to hear but it’s there
Julian loves a good sauna
Episode 6 - Perfect Day
Mary believes that bad weather means bad tidings for the wedding
Fanny believes marriages should be at churches
Pat’s wedding day was the best day of his life, Carol wore velvet and he wore a brown three piece
Julian was drunk on his wedding day
Fanny’s wedding day was at Winchester Cathedral and she was given away by the Marquis of Granby
Robin had at least thirty children
Kitty can throw up, and had food in her stomach when she died
Robin says that’s never happened before
Captain is very good at decorating, no surprise
Pat recognises the kid who killed him
Mary and her wedding superstitious
Both Pat and Julian talk about Dennis Waterman
Robin and Julian talk about Mick Hucknall
Kitty’s dress is burgundy
Captain has great fashion sense
Thomas references Whitechapel
You know, Thomas’ explanation of how Clare looked was pretty accurate, he’s quite aware of emotions
Fanny stops in front of George’s portrait, just an interesting detail
Fanny had high expectations placed on her since she was a child
Alison and Mike got married young
Alison had second thoughts on their wedding day
Mary had a husband, who was crushed underneath a plough three years after their marriage
The man Pat recognises is Keith Darren Dean
First time hearing about Humphrey’s marriage: it was arranged, they were both from noble families, he was fourteen she was twelve
They didn’t love each other, and Humphrey believed she didn’t like him, they couldn’t understand each other because she was French
Course later we find out she thought highly of him
Keith has guilt that has lasted decades, that sounds so painful
Fanny and Thomas exchange a look when she finally comes around to the wedding, it’s just so sweet I had to mention it
Keith remembers the knot tying Pat taught him
Episode 7 - The Ghost of Christmas
Julian is giving a speech for a bill at the start of the episode, referencing saying goodbye to Margot the day before
He refers to her as ‘this woman from my wedding’ and implies he’s about to sleep with another woman by the end of the scene
Nickname count: Dearest, darling and dear
The baby, Rachel, is heard crying on the phone
Margot asks when Julian is coming home, so he lies to her and says he won’t be back for days
Pat loves Christmas cooking, such a dear
Captain wishes he had a whiteboard
Julian points out the humbugs, and says he hates Christmas
Captain misses hearing the King’s speech on Christmas
Pat liked playing games with his nephew and his son, Daley
Games like Buckaroo, Boggle, Yahtzee and KerPlunk
Thomas misses the mistletoe, implying he’s been kissed before
Kitty used to open presents in the morning and then after lunch Eleanor would pick the ones she wanted
Mary says that some babies can see ghosts until they start walking
Julian is in the warmest room in the house due to his legs
Julian was in Brussels once at a strip club,  but he tells Margot he’s at a restaurant eating moules-frites and drinking a Sancerre
Margot seems at least skeptical of him
This is one of the Christmases he misses, the last four of his life that involve Rachel
Julian references the European Union
Fanny convinced Alison to follow the tradition of chopping a tree down and bringing it on for Christmas
Fanny planted at least fifty saplings in her time
It’s kind of funny that Julian is horrified by Mary getting naked
Thomas’ Christmas recital thing wasn’t that bad
From inference, it’s implied that Julian believes Margot wanted the baby, and that he had it thrust upon him
And if “I know, darling, I know” represents Margot, and Julian thinks that’s a reaction she would have, damn is that sad
She’s practically taking the blame for his misery
Julian would go for a drive if the baby got too irritating to him
It appears that out of the four Christmases away from Rachel,  one was to do oil deals, one was to be in Brussels, one at Colonel Gaddafi’s palace, and possibly another in Brussels
Pat loves Twister
Thomas and Cap have physical discipline
Pat would go to the shed to drink a Watney’s
Julian being considerate of Angela sleeping is either a new development, or something he was never pushed to do in life
The PC brigade may have interrogated Julian
Fanny seems to hold her Christmases in a high regard, despite George. Maybe it wasn’t always bad
Julian has kissed the wrong people under the mistletoe
Alison plays In the Bleak Midwinter on the piano
Rachel Fawcett is an MP for the Green Party, she’s a Major Leader of it

hollywood au + flowershop/tattoo artist au ? - asper
oh my fuck. oh my fuck
ty for the ask!! @loving-jack-kelly
***
“Charlie!”
A distant thud, and then: “What the fuck are you yelling for? It’s eight in the morning, oh my God.”
Jack only feels a little bit sorry for him. He should probably feel worse; today is Charlie’s only day off this week, having picked up an extra day at the floral shop he works at, but this— it’s important, truly. “Just— Just hurry up and get in here, man, this is— I— Holy fuck.”
“Oh, yeah, of course, make the disabled guy walk to you instead of come to him. Perfect logic there,” Charlie calls out, his voice getting closer and closer with each word, soon emerging from the small hallway in their shared apartment. “What are you freakin’ out over this time?” He says as he rests his cane against the arm of the couch, plopping down and swinging his bad leg across Jack’s lap.
Instead of replying, Jack just keeps staring down at his phone. Staring at the new notifications. Staring at something that has to be a dream. Right? Because, if this is real— if these notifications are actually there, if Charlie sees them too— then this is going to be fucking insane. This is going to completely change his career.
His hands shake, just barely, as he passes Charlie the phone. “Look. Those— Those ain’t fake. Right? Is that a- a parody account or somethin’?”
Charlie stares at the screen for a few moments, takes it in, and says: “Holy… fuck.”
Instagram: davidjacobs started following you.
You have one unread message from davidjacobs.
“I haven’t even looked at the message yet,” Jack says after a moment, eyes wide. “He, like— that’s him? Like, actually—?”
“His account has the blue check mark and everything,” Charlie says in a rushed voice, and Jack watches him scroll through the Instagram feed after clicking on the account. “This— Look, he just posted photos yesterday from a shoot with Prada. Fucking Prada, Jack, that’s— that’s huge! And this one, he’s on Vanity Fair, and—“
“Give me that,” Jack says, reaching over and ripping his phone out of Charlie’s hands. “Did you look at the—?”
“No, no, I didn’t,” Charlie cuts in, leaning closer to look over Jack’s shoulder. “Open it! Come on, don’t be chicken shit.”
“Will you shut the fuck up and let me think?”
“Will you shut the fuck up and let me see the DM?”
Jack groans, then clicks on the messages tab. There it is, right there: David Jacobs, requesting to DM him. Jack can’t exactly believe it. David Jacobs, the man who won an Oscar just over a week ago, has messaged him. David Jacobs, the hottest man alive, pop culture’s current golden boy, Jack’s biggest celebrity crush, has messaged him.
He takes a deep breath and opens the DM.
davidjacobs: Hi, Jack! I’m looking to get a tattoo soon, and a buddy of mine sent me your page. Your work is incredible, and your style is exactly what I am looking for. I’d love to book you for a session if you have anything available. I’ll be in Manhattan for a week starting on the 27th before heading back to LA; do you have any availability? If not, I’d love for you to shoot me a message when your bookings open up. Thanks. DJ xx
“Oh my God,” Charlie blurts out, putting a hand on Jac’s shoulder. “Oh my fucking God, David Jacobs wants you to tattoo him! Holy— Do you know what this means?!”
“I— I have to open shop on a Tuesday,” Jack says, almost in a dreamlike state. “I’m fully booked for the next, like, month, but I— I can open shop on a Tuesday, and have him come in, and we can- I don’t know, it would be worth it? He’d tip really fuckin’ well, and—“
“He’s willing to wait for you,” Charlie interrupts. “Holy shit. You’re tattooing an Oscar winner.”
“I’m tattooing an Oscar winner,” Jack repeats, nodding his head.
It slowly starts to sink in. David Jacobs, an Oscar winner, a twenty-three year old with 58.9 million Instagram followers, who’s face is on every ad in the country, Hollywood’s newest heartthrob, wants a tattoo from Jack Kelly. Jack Kelly, whose shop isn’t even that well known. He has about five thousand followers on his personal page, and even less on his shop’s page. He only employs two other artists- a guy named Finch and another named Spot- because he can’t afford a larger space for the shop, and he’s been trying so hard to grow their followings and promote his art, his dream, and now…
Jack takes one look at Charlie, and says, “I think I’m going to throw up.”
And an hour later, David Jacobs’ name is on his books.

Another day, another ‘Teen Mom’ star showing off their nether regions on The Interwebs…and ‘Teen Mom’ stars feuding on social media.
On Tuesday, Catelynn Lowell announced on Instagram that her newly buffed husband, Tyler Baltierra, has officially joined OnlyFans, and that she will be running his account, deciding which photos of Ty’s dingle-and-dangles to share with the masses.
While some fans were excited that Tyler would presumably be showing off his girl-baby-maker to weirdos on the Internet, one person who was not thrilled was Ty’s former Teen Mom co-star, Farrah Abraham, who took to Instagram Live to call Tyler (and the other ‘Teen Mom’ stars on OnlyFans—such as Jenelle Evans) hypocrites because they once shamed her for doing adult industry work.
Naturally, Jenelle (and her ever-lurking husband David Eason) had to weigh in on Farrah’s commentary.
The Ashley is going to attempt to recap the events for you…
On Tuesday, Catelynn posted a link to Tyler’s newly created OnlyFans account, directing her Instagram followers to shell out some cash to see Tyler’s, um…bulge. (Yes, The Ashley shuddered while typing that sentence.)
On Tyler’s cringefest-of-a-bio on OnlyFans, he tells everyone that, “This account is ran by my wife because she likes to show me off.”
After the ‘Teen Mom’ twosome launched Ty’s “Nudie Cutie” site, Tyler made it clear that Catelynn is pulling the strings.
“For anyone wondering though, I will NOT be in control of my account on there,” Tyler posted on Instagram on Tuesday. “It will completely be in my wife’s control. LOL. She’s the boss, I’m just there to do as I’m told LMAO!”
(The Ashley will give you a moment to digest the thought of Cate being Ty’s dominatrix telling him which photos of his love-worm to post.)
For those of you wanting to pay to see Tyler flex his muscles (both pectoral and “meat,” assumingly) it will cost you a cool $30 a month.
Farrah– who has been showing off her Backdoor (and other body parts and, um, body functions) on OnlyFans and other adult sites for years— seemed surprised that Tyler would display himself on the pay site, given that she felt he criticized her when she banged her way into the adult industry back in 2013 when her first adult movie, Backdoor Teen Mom, was released.
Naturally, Farrah took to Instagram Live to blast Tyler, as well as other ‘Teen Mom’ stars who are now posting their privates for the world to see.
“I have to say, aren’t these the same ‘Teen Moms’ that said I was going into adult entertainment?” Farrah— who most certainly went into “adult entertainment” by doing whole p0rn films— said. “The funnier thing is, I never changed who I was.”
Farrah then claimed that it was unfair that she fired from ‘Teen Mom OG’ due to her adult industry activities, but these ‘Teen Mom’ stars aren’t being let go. (What Farrah is saying about being fired is not exactly correct. As The Ashley has told you in the past, there were several contributing factors to The Big F getting the boot from the show. Although she was fired in part for refusing to turn down an adult gig that went against her contract for the show, she was was also let go for other reasons.)
“They’re on the same platforms that I’m on, yet I’m the only one that got fired!” Farrah said.
Farrah then busted out some of her signature legal “Farrah Speak.”
“Maybe it was just politically charged for wrongful firement?” she said.
(And, no, that’s not a typo. She actually said, “firement.”)
“But in the end, we’re all adults and we can be on adult platforms, right?” she said. “So I don’t know. Maybe all of the ‘Teen Moms’ are switching to p0rn? And they’re all p0rn stars? But I remain the same.”
Farrah’s message was seen by Tyler and Catelynn, as well as Jenelle and her husband David, all of whom responded to Farrah calling them hypocrites and p0rn stars.
Tyler and Catelynn made it clear that they are not doing p0rn, as Farrah stated.
“Y’all, we aren’t doing anything sexual on OnlyFans LMAOOO!” Catelynn posted to Instagram Stories on Wednesday. “Please we got kids! I would never lol. But if you do want to see what we are posting then click the link! #NoShame #HotHusbandAlert.”
Tyler doubled down, writing on Instagram Stories that what he’s posting on OnlyFans is not even close to the level of adult entertainment Farrah has participated in.
“To be fair, I’m NOT doing p0rn at all!” Tyler wrote. “Cate is just sharing the stuff that I personally send to her lol! There’s no sex involved or even videos on the page she’s running. I didn’t go to a p0rn production company, hire adult film stars & crew, have sex on camera, pretend that it was some ‘leaked’ personal footage, or make genital molds to sell.
“Cate is being completely transparent & honest about it all,” he continued. “It’s just a wife sharing photos of her husband, that’s literally it! But I get why some people are comparing it to my former cast member’s endeavors TBH & that’s totally valid! I just wanted to clarify what type of content is actually being shared on there in case anyone thought otherwise.”
Jenelle also had a lot to say about Farrah spouting off. Jenelle— who recently admitted that a large portion of her income now comes from showing off the ol’ “bush ‘n’ tush” on OnlyFans— posted to Twitter about Farrah’s rant.
“Then we got [Farrah] over here talking s**t,” Jenelle tweeted on Wednesday. “My God…talking about ‘I haven’t changed.’ Girl you don’t even look like the same person anymore, besides your horrible personality.”
“You’re right Farrah, you’re still you…a straight up bish,” Jenelle wrote on Facebook. “Acting like I didn’t support her through being fired and even invited me to her birthday party and we went! She will always be another one to talk mad BS and never change.”
Jenelle’s hubby David took a break from working, studying, f**king raking to also weigh in.
“Not the backdoor booty queen comparing herself to people who are not relatable,” David—who also had a short, yet horrifying stint on OnlyFans— wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
None of the other ‘Teen Mom’ stars who are currently on OnlyFans— including Jade Cline, Briana DeJesus, Nathan Griffith and Brittany DeJesus—have responded to Farrah’s comments yet.

It was beautiful night, you were getting ready for your boyfriends, you wore your boots with spikes, black ripped jeans, some band t-shirt Paul gave you and some jewelry. Tonight all of you decided to hang out in your house, they have never been there before, so you wanted everything to look perfect. You even woke up early in morning to make everything look clean and organized. You finished fixing your hair in bathroom, then heard the doorbell, you knew it was them. You were going downstairs then stopped realising you aren't wearing youre jacket, you quickly rushed to your room and took it. You were putting on a jacket and going downstairs at the same time. You opened door, to see your four beloved vampire boyfriends, before you could even say anything, Paul has already brought you in his arms and began giving you kisses.
“Paul let him breath.”
you heard David said which caused you to giggle. When he let go of you, you went to hug and give kisses to others. You invited them in, you went to living room so you could watch a movie, talk with each other and cuddle.
“Hm, handsome how about we see your nest?”
Paul asked as he placed empty can of beer on coffee table, you almost choked on youre drink by a sudden question.
“Um, sure.”
you answered him while fidgeting with your chains, you were fine with them seeing your room but you didn't how would they react to it. At the end you didn't want to argue with them that you should just stay here so you showed. You were in front of door that leads to your room, you opened door that showed your room. They were pretty much surprised by it, they saw cute little trinkets on your shelves that boys have given you, a flower in cute vase on your desk which they got you on yours very first date, many types of stuffed animals wrapped around edge of your bed, glowing in the dark stars and planets on your ceiling, polaroid photos of your loved ones, posters of your favourite bends and other cute stuff nobody would expect when they first see you. Boys were looking around your room being shocked with every thing they found in your room. You saw Paul wandering around your closet, observing it with focus before opening it, Pauls mouth opened wide before looking at you.
“Seriously, you have that in there?”
he asked shocked which others started questioning and coming to him as you did too. You smiled as you saw all of them having similar reaction like Paul. You went to grab thing they didn't expect for it to be there, you revealed to them a sword.
“YOU HAVE A SWORD?”
Marko questioned confused and shocked,
“Yeah, I do.”
You smiled softly to him,
“Where did you get it from?”
David asked you,
“I got it from a trip when I went to for school and bought it myself.”
you said,
“Recently, or?”
Dwayne asked you while looking at sword like others are.
“No, I got it from like 4th or 5th grade or maybe even younger.”
you answered, then all of you looked at you, Paul wanted to say something but was interrupted by David,
“They let you bought a iron sword when you were around 10 years old?”
you smiled and nodded at his question,
“Is it sharp?”
Marko questioned,
“Yup, very much, Im trying to keep it as sharp as possible.”
you answered, you knew they never expected to see your room with this much cute stuff, they knew you very a soft and kind man, but never expected from you to have room like this and especially have a sword. Rest of night you spend with boys chilling in your room, cuddling, you showing them how sharp the sword is and letting each of them using it to cut through things Paul or Marko would find.

Living, Learning, and Filming Ch. 11| Connor Brashier
A/n: we have reached our end point. Thank you for sticking it out with me. (Again.)
Summary: It’s presentation time.
Word count: 1.2k
***
Week 11
“You ready?”
“I still have 12 hours, bub.”
He chuckles, “I mean are you ready to present. But that too.”
“I’m ready to present,” I nod. “And I do have an answer for you.”
“Yeah?”
I smile, “I do. But I won’t tell you until after the presentation.”
Connor narrows his eyes at me, “You’re evil.”
I pucker my lips, blowing him a kiss. “You love me.”
“I do.”
I don’t know why it still makes me blush, but it does. “We’re up,” I say, fiddling with the ring on my finger.
“Brashier and y/l/n.”
“Let’s do this, baby.” He takes my hand and pulls me with him to the front of the class. “So, our concept for this film was two college student’s falling in love. It could have been with each other or it could be with other people. And as you watch it, you’ll figure out which one it was. So this is Living, Loving, and Filming. We hope you enjoy it.”
I give him a sideways glance and we move off to the side as the intro starts, a soft strum of the instrumental playing behind our voices in the film.
“I’m Connor David Brashier, twenty-one, a junior here at UCLA.”
“What happened to Living, Learning, and Filming?” I whisper.
I swear to god when I come home / I’m gonna hold you so close.
“Thought this had a better ring to it,” he mutters back, his eyes still on the screen.
“Can you see yourself falling in love with someone?”
“Yes. Yeah, I can see myself falling in love with you.”
"Someday. I think maybe it just isn't the time for me yet. But it would be nice, I think, to find that comfort in someone. That someone that you want to spend every waking moment with."
“You’re something else, Brashier.”
“Shh.. watch,” he points to the screen.
“Falling in love is wonderful,” Connor’s voice fills the speakers as an old couple walking down the street covers the screen, then a young couple holding hands across the table.
“Falling in love is euphoric,” I say when Connor’s blue eyes appear close on the screen, the sides of his eyes crinkling as he laughs, pushing the camera out of his face.
I swear to god I can see / four kids and no sleep.
“You want kids?”
We’ll have one on each knee / you and me.
“Yeah, someday…”
The music quiets down, becoming basically nonexistent. I take over the screen, I’m in his t-shirt and a pair of leggings - it’s the day he came over to film and we definitely did not do that for a while. I’m dancing around the room to Mr. Brightside.
“Connor,” I whine. “Sing with me… turning saint into the sea.”
He rolls his eyes, but comes in with the next line. “Swimming through sick lullabies.”
“Choking on your alibis. But it’s just the price I pay,” I sing, kneeling on the bed where he’s sitting. “Destiny is calling me… open up your eager eyes.”
“God, you’re beautiful,” he says, causing my cheeks to flush and instantly stop singing, covering my face.
“Love is beautiful, but it doesn’t come without heartbreak.” His voice comes through the speakers once again as the music starts to swell, instrumental only. “They don’t tell you that heartbreak can come quickly and without warning. They don’t tell you that you can be completely heartbroken and still totally in love with the person who hurt you. They don’t tell you that when you love someone and they love you back, you are both so much more vulnerable than you’ve ever been, and that it physically hurts to not be with them. That’s something that you’re just supposed to find out on your own. I did find that out. And I’m still in love and I’m hoping she still loves me too. I’m hoping this goes somewhere beyond this project.”
We’re falling so fast / we’re falling like the stars / falling in love / And I’m not scared to say those words / with you I’m safe
It’s now just us, it’s fast paced, photos and videos. Him kissing my cheek, me kissing his. Cuddling in my bed, me throwing my pencil at him when he’s distracting me from my homework. We’re dancing in his living room - trying to actually, he can’t dance. I’m doing my makeup. He’s tying my shoe. Our hands are swinging between us.
“Have you ever been in love?”
“I have. I am.”
“Yes. I am now.”
We’re falling like the stars / we’re falling in love
“I do love him. I think this will go somewhere too,” I say through the speakers just before the screen cuts to black, rolling the credits, watching Connor’s reaction.
I may have added that last part without telling him. So he’s looking at me now with wide eyes and he looks like he might be fighting back tears.
“Thank you. That was lovely,” our professor nods. “You may have a seat.”
But we don’t sit because Connor is pulling out of the room while the rest of the class is clapping for us.
“You love me?” He asks once we’re down the hall, both of his hands holding mine.
“Why do you sound so surprised? I already told you that.”
“I just - you said you needed time. I thought you were trying to talk yourself out of giving me another chance.”
I shake my head. “I don’t think I needed the time,” I admit. “I love you,” I say definitively. “I can’t fight that, even if I wanted to.”
“And just to be clear… you don’t want to?”
I giggle, “I don’t.”
“And we’re doing this? Like really doing this?”
“If that’s what you want.”
He nods vigorously. “I want it. I do. Of course I do.”
I can’t help but laugh, taking one of my hands from his and playing with the hair on the nape of his neck. “You’re very easy to please, Brashier.”
“Well that you already knew,” he smirks, wrapping his arms tightly around my waist, bringing me closer to his body.  “And I plan on spending the entirety of Christmas break trying to find new ways to please you.”
I raise my eyebrows, “Why, Connor David. Whatever are you insinuating?”
He laughs lowly, burying his head in my neck. “We’re not leaving my room for a while, baby. I hope you’re okay with that.”
I nod, “I am.”
“Good.” He’s quiet for a minute.
“What’s on your mind?” I ask, running my hand down the side of his neck, to his shoulder.
“So, does this mean I get to hold your hand whenever I want? And cuddle you on the couch? And kiss you until we both feel like passing out?”
“You can,” I nod with a big smile. “But my question is: why aren’t you doing that already?”
He smiles, “I don’t have an answer for you.”
“Connor.”
“Hmm?” He’s staring at my lips.
“You can kiss me now.”
“I was getting there.”
“Can you get there faster?”
“Wow, we’re two minutes into our relationship and you’re already bossing me around,” he chuckles.
I hit his arm, “Well you better get used to it, bub.”
He hums, “Well as long as we know who’s boss in the bedroom.”
I nod, “You can definitely take charge there.”
“Good… I’m gonna kiss you now.”
“Good.” I say and he lifts my chin, connecting our lips. It feels good. It feels more than good. It feels right. It feels right because it is. I’ve never felt better. “Bub?”
“Hmm?” he asks, resting his forehead against mine.
“I like ‘loving’ better than ‘learning.’”
His thumb rubs over my bottom lip, “Me too,” he agrees before leaning in again.

Go Wilfred! Love their shirt!
Hi there! Well, I did see this post of Georgia's yesterday, and there is a lot happening in this picture/post, of which Wilf's shirt is just one small part, and I definitely have a lot of opinions. Full disclosure, however, before I delve deeper: I am an only child, and my parents have been married for over 50 years, so I am by no means an expert on sibling relationships or blended families. What follows are only thoughts based on my own observations.
For those who didn't see Georgia's post (and I was a bit delayed in seeing it myself, due to the holiday here this week), she posted the photo below of her and David in the DW era, one of her as Jenny, and the family photo above, in that order. This was then followed by the below Insta story of a picture of Ty inside a Dalek:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What really struck me about this post is that Georgia posted that family photo and wrote the caption about Doctor Who giving her a family...and yet Ty is not in the picture. She very, very easily could have chosen a picture that Ty was in, but seemingly purposely chose not to, and the optics of that alone are questionable. It is my understanding that, in many blended families, the stepchild (in this case, Ty) is sometimes treated differently than the "biological" children, for any number of reasons. Yet David has never once treated Ty as anything other than his own, never once referred to him as his "stepson"--only as his son. So the impression that this post gives is that Georgia thinks of her family as the one she had with David, and Ty somehow "doesn't count" because he was from a previous relationship ("new" family vs. "old").
As I mentioned before, I am not at all an expert on blended families, but I feel as though my impression of this post was further bolstered by what we see in your screenshot @kime11e--Ty commenting asking where he is, and Georgia calling him "needy," followed by her posting that photo in an Insta story as almost an afterthought. I'm just very confused by what kind of mother calls her own child "needy" for wanting to know why he's not in a family photo, because it seems rather cold and heartless on her part. Could this be some sort of inside joke/banter between Georgia and Ty that I am entirely missing? Absolutely. But as we know, in jokes are only funny if we're in on the joke, and the fact is, we have seen Georgia make similar comments about her other children (calling Birdie a drunken accident, lest we forget) so that, to me, suggests this isn't a one-off occurrence.
Which then brings me to Wilf and their shirt in this picture. It is definitely a great shirt, to be sure. And I truly do love that Wilf seems to be so supported and accepted by their parents for exactly who they are. What I keep thinking about, though, is that Wilf is 10 years old, and is starting to or about to start going through puberty and that journey of finding out who they are. I remember how difficult and painful and scary that journey was, navigating the turmoil that was happening inside my body and my mind. The difference, however, is that I went through all of this in private, but Georgia is putting Wilf's journey out on Instagram for the world to see.
What also seems strange is that none of the other kids are wearing shirts that advertise their sexual orientations. Again, this is not about shame, or saying that Wilf should have to hide who they are--and I cannot overstate how beautiful it is that they have such a loving family and a safe place to be themselves, especially at such a young age. It's about the fact that David has been/is being targeted by lunatic homophobic and transphobic bigots in the UK calling him a "groomer" and all sorts of foul and disgusting insults, and I just worry that singling Wilf out in this particular way could have unintended negative consequences. I know folks will say that that seems ridiculous or paranoid and that Wilf of course has people who are looking out for them...but their own parent is the one who posted this on Instagram. And once something is on the Internet--pictures or any personal information--it's out there forever.
So, yes. Those are my (not at all intended to be controversial) thoughts on this new post from Georgia. I know I could be completely off and misinterpreting all this, so I welcome comments from my followers with their thoughts and impressions about all of the above...

idk if youre still doing them, but if you are: 3 headcanons about jazmine torres/american!even (or technically 3 pieces of canon)? really liked the twist on the first kiss you wrote for shay and jazmine btw!
hey!! absolutely still doing them, feel free to send more if you want!! ty for reading my fic ❤️
jazmine torres/american!even (from this fic):
- i know american!even is often headcanon’d as a photographer and i LOVE that, especially since it means she could photograph cfgc’s concerts and they’d be an artsy power couple. however, i’m going to say jazmine loves photography - and loves photographing her loved ones, especially shay - but poetry is her main art thing in this AU. i think she’d combine them actually, à la david with his collage scrapbooks. jazmine would fill up notebooks very quickly. one of the things that lead to her getting diagnosed (she has OCD & BPD) was when she decided it’d be cool to write a poem for every photo she takes, which she then prints and sticks in a notebook. it was fun and challenging at first, but eventually became upsetting when she couldn’t even take a screenshot of a meme or an accidental selfie without feeling like she had to scribble a poem down immediately. she comes up with haikus as a mind game when bored now. she has a haiku for each and every mole/freckle shay has. she’s corny.
- if shay loves summer, then jazmine loves winter. i just like when couples are opposites especially in silly poetic ways (light/dark, sun/moon, sky/ocean, etc), and i think this’d be fun given how hot austin is (and florida was; she literally can’t escape lol), and that i’d want shay’s season to be set during summer. and if we wanted to get even more sillier and poetic, i love the idea of shay being this burning warmth to jazmine’s icy cold, literally melting the latter’s heart 🥺 anyways they build snowmen together during december. kelsey: “as a proud ally, i’ve decided to make mine gender neutral snow- people”. jazmine: “that’s cool. ours are gay and definitely hooking up tho.”
- random, but she’s a really good navigator. as in, jazmine can and will locate any super niche spot in a new city as if she’s lived there her entire life. if she stood next to a guy wearing a shirt that said ‘i am a certified tour guide and historian with decades of experience’, tourists would still approach her first because of the sheer confident, determined, kind energy she radiates lol. what i’m getting at is that the scene in the fic where she’s asking for a tour and stories about the school was more so she could listen to shay talk and not because she actually wanted to know (because she already knew), which is fun because shay’s exaggerating those stories purely to get jazmine to laugh. they’re both corny! but in very cool and cute ways!
- bonus headcanon is that she doesn’t really like tyler much, but occasionally marlon will do something that is so incredibly annoying that tyler, shay, and jazmine all immediately look up and lock eyes and there’s this unspoken “maybe the three of us should stage a coup and take over cfgc” vibe. she helps with songwriting sometimes though, and she and megan fight for the title of being president of the unofficial cfgc fan club
give me a character and i’ll tell you three pieces of headcanon i have about them!

Hints of Beth and the CRM War in 5x09
So, after I re-watched 6x08 and 6x09, which I posted last week, I also decided to re-watch 5x09. I did so for various reasons, including a comment I received on an old theory. But mostly, I’d been wanting to rewatch this episode for a while. I had a hunch that there might be hints toward the CRM war in it that we couldn’t possibly have known about or recognized back in S5. I was not disappointed.
Tumblr media
Tyreese, Lizzie & Mica:
So, in this new comment I got, this commenter said she thought Ty was likening the twin boys to Lizzie and Mica. And I’m sure this has been discussed in some iteration, but I sat and thought about it in a way I hadn’t before. I know I’ve discussed that it seems, from the photos, that there seemed to be a “good” and “evil” twin, and obviously that has ties to Lizzie and Mica. But just think about it this way. Ty was obviously present for the Lizzie/Mica tragedy. Then, he’s killed by one of these twins as a walker.
Tumblr media
A random line from 5x04, 4 Walls and a Roof, came to my mind. After Abe and co get on the short bus to go to D.C., Ty is digging graves (for the Termites they killed) and Rick goes to help him. Rick asks him something about what happened on his way to Terminus or something like that (can’t remember the exact question) and Ty answers that what happened “killed me.” Rick, looking a little annoyed, says, “No, it didn’t.” And that’s it.
Tumblr media
 But it occurred to me that Ty’s line is a foreshadow. He was speaking about Lizzie and Mica, saying that their deaths killed him (emotionally) but it was a foreshadow that another set of siblings would actually kill him a few episodes later. I don’t have a whole lot more to say about this particular thing, though I’m going to talk more about Ty in a minute.
The thing is, I really don’t think we understand the point of Lizzie and Mica, yet. We’ve had lots of theories, talked about how they impacted Carol, the ways in which they could be Beth proxies. But I don’t think we understand their significance in the grand scheme of things, and I’ve never quite known what to do with them symbolically. But given that they’re in Ty’s hallucination WITH BETH tells me we will probably figure it out when she returns.
Tumblr media
Hints of the CRM in 5x09:
Several years back (like during S6) I tried so hard to figure out what the radio messages in 5x09 pointed to, and couldn’t really come to any solid conclusion about them. Of course, back then we knew absolutely nothing of the helicopter people, so how could I?
We’ve definitely seen some of the things they talk about come to pass, both before and after this episode. They mention prisons (prison fell before this) and setting people on fire (Carol did that both in S9 and also to Karen and David in S4) and of course they mention machetes (Red Machete). All important symbols.
Tumblr media
But these messages also tell a story. Look at what they say:
“At least 68 citizens of the Republic have been killed in four deadly attacks along the main coastal district. The group has continued their campaign of random violence, moving across the countryside unfettered, with the Republic’s military forces in disarray.”
Okay, so I’m assuming the “republic” is the CRM. This suggests a different group performing guerilla warfare against them. Think about all the symbols these lines encompass. We have a group of rebels attacking the CRM, the COASTAL district, and of course the CRM itself. So it’s talking about some rebel group that will be fighting against the CRM.
Tumblr media
I think that’s super significant, especially because of the TWB template. Remember that we saw a group of rebels, perhaps led by Will, though it’s a little unclear as yet, who is Beth’s proxy in that template. And they’re outside the CRM and, presumably, because they saw the slaughter at the college, going to fight against it. So I’m seeing this as a huge hint for Beth’s return.
The other thing to bring into the mix here is the Wolves. Because all of this in 5x09 definitely foreshadowed the wolves, and it’s where we first saw their “WOLVES NOT FAR” signs. And where did we see TONS of Beth symbolism: around the wolves.
Tumblr media
Second message: “…then terrorizing the village by night, carrying out revenge attacks which include hacking innocents with machetes, and in some cases setting them on fire.”
Okay, so I get that this isn’t flattering for Beth or her group if she’s with the rebels, but it is really hard to know what they’re talking about here, since we don’t get the full sentence. The point is, these are acts of war, and even if this is talking about the rebel group doing this (and I think it probably is, given that wolves did all of these things a few episodes later in 6x02) it’s no worse than what we’ve already seen the CRM do.
But I can also see that if Beth is with or leading this group, this is a very Grady-like issue to be dealing with. Are we killing these people for the greater good, because the war needs to be won? You can see how Grady could easily have been a setup for what she’d be dealing with later on. And maybe she’s the “new sheriff” because she has to police her own people and not let them get too blood thirsty. Or maybe I’m reading into this WAY too much and the point is simply that there will be a violent war. ;D
There’s only one more message that comes out of the radio. So we had the first one, talking about the CRM war and a rebel group attacking the CRM. Then talk of wartime violence.
Tumblr media
The third message is Beth singing her song. That’s super on-the-nose, if you ask me. No more clear way to say that Beth will be part of the conflict the radio voice was just talking about. See why that made me happy?
Tyreese…Again:
I’m gonna make a sweeping claim, here. I think the themes around Ty’s death are pretty much the point of the entire series. Yes, I know that’s a tall order. Let me explain. It does tie heavily into Beth’s return, but it encompasses other things as well, and I think it’s a huge part of the current Negan/Maggie/forgiveness story line.
Tumblr media
So, when I first went to watch 5x09, I pulled up S5 on Amazon and it shows all the episodes, the first one, of course, being 5x01. And the little picture it had for that episode was Ty in the cabin with baby Judith. I sat and thought about that and that there’s the picture of a cabin in 5x09 that gets blood on it and it occurred to me that those two things are probably related.
So I watched 5x01 after watching 5x09. I’ll admit I didn’t see tons of smoking guns that haven’t already been discussed at length in 5x01. The biggest thing is simply that it was a setup for Ty’s death themes in 5x09, and I definitely need to revisit my cabin theories. ;D
Tumblr media
So, if we look at the people Ty hallucinated, there’s the Gov, Lizzie, Mica, Beth, Bob, and Martin, right? These are all obviously people and events Ty feels guilty about. Bob’s death, because he lied about Martin and that sent the Termites after them. He feels guilty about being duped by the Gov and not realizing what a bad guy he was. Lizzie and Mica for obvious reasons. And Beth.
I honestly don’t think Tyreese did anything to feel guilty about with Beth. Not in the same way we think Sasha might have (Sasha/Tyreese Theory). But based on what the Martin hallucination says, I think he’s just really broken up about it and wondering if he could have done anything to change it. Just my opinion, though.
So, if you listen carefully to who is saying what in the hallucination, we have two different representations of good and evil. There’s 1) Bob vs. Martin and 2) Beth/Lizzie/Mica vs. the Gov. In each case, they’re like good and evil angels sitting on Ty’s shoulder and they’re arguing.
Tumblr media
So, for example, Martin says the thing about Ty lying about his death and how, maybe somehow, if Bob hadn’t died, it would have changed things with Beth. Domino shit. And then Bob says [paraphrasing] “No, that’s bullshit. I got bit at the food bank. It went the way it had to. The way it was always going to.”
And we have the same thing going on with the Gov. He’ll basically tell Tyreese what an idiot he is, and then one of the three (Beth/Lizzie/Mica) will say, “No. It’s all right. It’s better now.”
Tumblr media
So, you can see that Ty is really at war with himself internally.
It’s important to note that one big thing that’s mentioned is that he forgave Carol for Karen’s death. The Gov actually says that Ty is weak and ridiculous because he sat across the table from a woman that murdered someone he loved, and he actually forgave her. The Gov really razzed him about that.
And this is one of the things I mean about over-arching themes. Carol killed Karen and David in S4, which we all know was one great big foreshadow of arcs to come, and Ty forgave her.
I really think this was probably meant to be a foreshadow of Negan. Negan’s story, killing Glenn, was a way bigger deal and way more front and center, mostly because no one really knew Karen except for an episode or two and Glenn was such a beloved character.
Now, we have this redemption arc for Negan and Maggie is going to have to decide if she’ll forgive him, moving forward. We could apply this to plenty of other story lines where Rick took the violent route or forgiveness wasn’t had, and it leads to trouble and death. So, I think this is pretty huge for the overall show.
And I really think it points to Negan doing something to save TF in some way. Because they forgive him and he’s allowed to live, that will save lives. We’ve talked about this with Daryl showing Dwight mercy as well.
My Biggest Beth Takeaway:
As the episode progresses, before Rick and Michonne come to get him, Tyreese does finally stand up to the Governor. He says that the Gov was a bad guy, and that wasn’t his (Ty’s) fault. He says what he talked about with Noah: that he never turned off the radio. He always faced it, and did what he could to help. He said he forgave Carol specifically because “it’s not over.” Which I take to mean that he has hope for the world’s future, and forgiveness is the only way forward. Being angry and holding a grudge only brings death.
Tumblr media
And then he said the thing that jumped out at me most:
“People like me CAN live.”
Okay, so what does he mean by ‘people like me?’ Because obviously Ty didn’t live, so this doesn’t apply to him directly. Or if it does, he means that he’ll die, but people like him CAN live under some circumstances.
To figure this out, we have to go back to his cabin in 5x01. During that entire scene in No Sanctuary, Martin was giving him crap about being a “good” guy. Ty answers, “you don’t know what I’ve done.” And Martin looks at baby Judith and says, “no, you’re a good guy. You save babies. That’s a little like saving an anchor when you’re without a boat in the middle of the ocean.” (Total boat/water reference.)
So, when Ty says “people like me,” he means those who choose to be good. Who choose to be hopeful and moral, rather than violent. There’s a long-running theme in the show that Chris Hardwick mentions a lot, that people who function as the moral compass of the group often die. And that’s true.
But here, Ty says, “people like me” (meaning the moral compasses) CAN live.
And Beth is in the room with him when he says that.
Tumblr media
She’s looking at the clock radio that simultaneously reads 5:10 (music box) and also 8:22 (Resurrection).
Tumblr media
The skeptic might argue that all these other people are in the room too, and how can we be sure he means her? Well, putting all the mountains of TD evidence aside, they do have a point. After all, all the “good” characters Ty hallucinates (Bob, Beth, Mica) are moral compasses and fit the criteria. There are plenty of others not represented here (Hershel, Dale, Glenn, Denise, even Abraham to an extent) but these are the ones Ty felt particularly guilty about.
But I would argue that we only heard one person’s voice come through the radio: Beth’s.
So once again, look at this from a bird’s eye view. Talk of the CRM and a coming war. Then Beth’s voice comes through that same radio, suggesting she’ll be part of it. And later on, “people like me CAN live.”
See what I mean? As I told my fellow theorists, this episode really had all we needed to predict Beth’s return. We just couldn’t have understood the meanings back then.
And honestly, this may be the explanation for the Lizzie/Mica thing I mentioned above. It’s a representation of the evil killing the good, which is super traumatizing and messes everyone up because as humans, we’re hard-wired to believe good will win out.
So, we had Lizzie/Mica, Noah’s brothers, and then the good vs evil hallucinations I already talked about. And we might even have a representation of this at Grady because of evil officer Bob.
Tumblr media
We had good Bob who died in 5x04, and then Evil Officer Bob, who directly led to them only having two prisoners, which directly led to Beth getting shot. And I remember when it aired, the show brought a lot of attention to it by doing clickbait articles about why there were “two Bobs.”
So, it’s something they wanted us to notice. And then we see Bob in Ty’s hallucination here. I gotta think that Sasha and Ty’s sibling relationship plays into this in some way as well.
Tumblr media
Okay, I’ll shut up, now. But re-watching this gave me tons of hope. We can’t say for sure that we’ll see her in the bonus episodes (though obviously I hope we will) but I’m more sure than ever that she’ll be part of the CRM war. And we’re kind of on the cusp of that. We just have to sit back and wait. ;D

Teen Mom: The Next Chapter stars Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra shared a rare family photo to social media on Sunday featuring their three young daughters and their 14-year-old biological daughter, Carly. In a heartwarming comment left on Catelynn’s post about their visit with Carly, Tyler expressed his happiness to be with all four of his biological daughters and Catelynn, praising both Cate and Carly’s parents Brandon and Teresa.
As you may remember, Cate and Tyler placed Carly for adoption during their 2009 episode of 16 and Pregnant. Carly’s parents, Brandon and Teresa, were featured in the episode, and Cate and Tyler’s visits with the family were documented on the early seasons of Teen Mom OG.
Over the years, Cate and Ty have had some tension with Brandon and Teresa, mainly over the fact that Carly’s parents don’t want Catelynn and Tyler sharing photos or information online or on the show about Carly, who is now 14.
Since placing Carly for adoption, Cate and Tyler have welcomed daughters Novalee (in 2016), Vaeda (in 2019) and Rya (in 2021). While their visits with Carly later took place off camera-– and at one point, not at all–- Cate and Tyler revealed Sunday that they recently had “an amazing visit” with the teen.
(The group is shown walking away from the camera in the photo Cate posted, likely keeping with Brandon and Teresa’s request to keep their daughter’s life private.)
Tumblr media
“Had an amazing visit with our girl. She’s funny, kind, SMART, goofy and STUNNING,” Cate posted to Instagram. “Adoption is hard and saying goodbye time and time again is soooo hard!!!! But seeing all of our girls together, getting to know Carly deeper and deeper each time and being with all four of our daughters is truly such a blessing!”
In his comment on Cate’s post, Tyler called the time spent with Carly, Cate and their three daughters “truly indescribable.” Tyler also shared some kind words about Carly’s parents, Brandon and Teresa.
“ … Her parents have done such an amazing job raising her!” Tyler wrote, adding that it was “pure magic” getting to see Carly interact with her sisters.
“ … They have an unmistakable connection that’s bonded between forces that are far greater than just shared dna…it’s literally pure transcendental magic. I didn’t want it to ever end.”
Tyler also gave his wife a shoutout for being the “strongest woman I’ll ever come to know.”
“ … You are the BEST MOTHER I have seen & this family is only a family because of YOU!” Tyler wrote. “You are the most courageous, loving, wise & intuitive spirit & this family of ours is beyond blessed to have you as its beautiful matriarch.”
Tumblr media
Catelynn’s father, David Lowell, was also present for the meet-up with Carly. In a comment left on Cate’s post, David described it as a “beautiful, emotional, loving time.”
“Thank you for the opportunity to have shared this next visit with Carly,” he wrote. “She’s a beautiful soul. The bond is magical between her sisters and you two. That hug from her was priceless.”
Cate and Ty’s trusty adoption counselor, Dawn Baker, was also present for the meet-up.
“Loved every moment of the visit with and for you guys!” Dawn wrote. “You sure do make beautiful daughters and it is very clear that they ALL love you.”
Camera crews were present to capture footage of the visit with Carly, so it’s likely that it will be covered during the upcoming season of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter.

Louder than the screams you hear; it’s like the sun came out.
“How do I look?”
Wendy spun around from where she was tying the blue ribbon into Alice’s blonde hair. Her throat went dry when she saw Killian standing before her in leather pants of all things. It was topped with a billowy black shirt and a red leather vest. He had his arms out at his sides, his brows arched.
“Well?”
Alice burst out laughing, and Killian’s face fell. Wendy bit her lip as she struggled not to laugh as well. His expression was just so crestfallen.
“Um. I thought you were supposed to be a pirate, not a rock star,” she finally told him.
His expression turned playful at her words, and a smirk played upon his lips as he sauntered towards her. “Well, love, I warned you I wasn’t going to be caught dead in a feathered cap and a permed wig.”
“I see,” Wendy replied, struggling to breathe at his close proximity. He’d left an awful lot of his buttons undone.
“And I’m wearing the hook you ladies bought for me,” he added, waving the plastic appendage before her face.
Wendy took a slightly wobbly step back. “Well, now that I see the full affect . . . it’s definitely more Johnny Depp than Captain Hook, but it’ll work.”
He made a dramatic bow and offered her his hand. “M’lady.”
“Daddy,” Alice giggled, “she’s s’posed to be afraid of you.”
“Oh no,” Killian argued, “the novel specifically says that Hook charmed Wendy.”
When he lifted her hand to his lips to press a kiss there, Wendy wasn’t thinking of the book at all. She was thinking that this Wendy was certainly charmed by this Hook.
“Well?” he prompted again with an arch of one brow.
She shrugged her shoulders and said coyly, “I suppose it will do.”
“You, on the other hand,” he told her, spreading her arms wide to take in the long, satin nightgown that hugged her curves, “are lovely.”
“I think the costume has gone to your dad’s head,” Wendy told Alice.
“I’m not flattering, love, it’s absolutely true.”
Wendy tilted her head, her cheeks blushing. Her curled ponytail bounced against her shoulder, and Killian reached out to twirl it around his fingers. Henry’s voice caused them to jump apart.
“Are the girls ready yet?” the boy whined.
“Yes,” Alice retorted saucily.
“Then let’s go.”
“Not yet,” said Wendy, snatching up the pile of makeup she and Alice had bought at the drugstore. She turned to Killian. “I have to do one more thing for your dad.”
****************************************************
“Is this really necessary,” Killian grumbled.
“Yes. It completes the look.” Wendy grasped his chin in her hand and forced him to be still. She leaned closer with the eyeliner held steady in her other hand. Killian leaned away.
“You’re going to poke my eye out!”
“Don’t be such a baby! If you’d be still, I could do it. Now widen your eyes and look up.”
Killian tilted his head up, and Wendy yanked on his chin again.
“Just move your eyes, not your whole head.”
“Well, I’ve never worn makeup before, believe it or not.” He obeyed anyway.
Wendy narrowed her eyes as she carefully swiped the eyeliner across his upper lids. To do the lower ones, she had to cup his head and stretch the skin around his eyes with her thumb.
“There,” she breathed when she was done. She was so intent on examining her handiwork, that she kept her thumb resting against the top of his cheek, the rest of her fingers threaded into his hair.
“How does it look?”
She realized how close they were when his words came out hot against her skin. Her
gaze focused on the blue of his eyes instead of the eyeliner, and every thought fled her brain. Her hand stroked his cheek, and her thumb traced the scar below his right eye. They both moved closer, their noses brushing, and Killian sighed deeply as his eyes fluttered closed.
“We shouldn’t -”
“I know.”
“You could be married.”
“I’m not wearing a ring.”
“A boyfriend then.”
“I don’t care.”
A groan reverberated in the back of his throat as her lips brushed against his, and his fingers dug into her hip. She couldn’t tell who was trembling from the exquisite torture: her or Killian.
“Dad!” Henry’s irritated shout from downstairs made them leap apart. “What’s taking so long?”
Killian loosened his grip on Wendy and let his forehead collapse against hers. “Coming,” he called back, irritation lacing his voice.
Wendy couldn’t help it - she started to laugh. It came out as an inelegant snort and she dropped her head to Killian’s shoulder, partly from embarrassment, and partly because the laughter seemed to have taken over and she just couldn’t stop. Killian started to laugh too, and his fingers found their way back to her waist. He tried to grasp her with both hands, but the plastic hook impeded him.
“Stupid hook,” he muttered, and for some reason that made Wendy laugh even harder.
“Seriously, Dad!” Henry shouted again. “What are you two doing up there?”
The boy only succeeded in making the two adults in the guest bath fall into complete hysterics. Wendy rolled her eyes, and yanked Killian away from the sink by the lapel of his leather jacket. They came down the stairs, still laughing, and the kids looked at them in confusion.
“What’s so funny?”
“Nothing,” they said at the exact same time, and started laughing all over again.
“Grown ups,” Alice groaned with a shake of her head.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Storybrooke Town Hall was decorated in an explosion of pink and red crepe paper, glitter, hearts, and cupids. Henry rolled his eyes while Alice bounced in excitement.
“Oh my goodness, you all look adorable!”
Killian and Wendy turned around to find themselves face to face with Snow White and Prince Charming. Wendy blinked and shook her head at how perfectly suited Mary Margaret was to the roll with her flawless skin. She had a red ribbon tied in her dark hair and wore an exquisite dress exactly like the one in the movie.
“And you look amazing!” Wendy exclaimed, giving her friend a hug. “I’m sorry, Alice, but your dad and I might not be able to compete with these two.”
“Is that a real sword, David?” Henry asked.
David grinned as he pulled it from its scabbard. “Afraid not, it’s just plastic.”
“Why didn’t I get a sword?” Killian asked, giving first his daughter and then Emma an exaggerated pout.
“Pirates carry a cutlass,” Alice informed him primly, “and we didn’t have enough in the budget for a hook and a cutlass.”
“How old are you again?” Killian teased, tipping his daughter’s chin. “Thirty-five?”
Alice giggled, and Killian bopped her on the nose.
“Well, I’m manning the photo booth, and the four of you have to get yours made,” Mary Margaret told them motioning for them to follow her to the opposite wall where someone had hung a large white sheet for a backdrop. “Everyone who wants to enter the costume contest has to be photographed anyway for the judges.”
Killian shrugged at Wendy. “Is that okay?”
“Sure, why not?”
“You have to,” Alice insisted, “or you can’t win the prize.”
Wendy felt a little awkward standing with Killian and his kids like they were having a family portrait made, but she followed Mary Margaret dutifully to the x marked with tape on the floor. Several of the small town’s citizens eyed them as they walked past, some of them whispering, and Wendy felt her face grow hot under their scrutiny. Then Alice threw her skinny arms around her waist, Killian slung his arm around her shoulder, Henry leaned in, and Wendy let herself get lost in the fantasy that this really was her life.
“Say cupid!” Mary Margaret told them, and they repeated the word with wide smiles. The flash went off, and a sharp pain sliced across Wendy’s eyes. She stumbled backwards, and held her forehead as what felt like a thousand flashbulbs went off behind her closed eyes. She was remembering something, she was sure of it, but all she could grasp were voices.
“Over here! Look this way! Smile, look sexy, that’s it!”
Wendy shook her head, trying to rid herself of the voices. She remembered them making her feel exposed, insecure, and pressured . . . pressured for what? Pressured to be . . . to be . . . . they wanted her to be something, but she couldn’t remember what.
“Wendy,” Killian said gently, rubbing his hands soothingly up and down her arms. “Are you okay? Is it another headache?”
“Yeah,” she blinked, and the bright flashes faded away. The voices were muffled, and anything she was trying to remember dissipated like fog. “I . . . almost remembered something.”
“Okay. Was it good? Did it help?”
Wendy shook her head in frustration. “No, it didn’t make any sense.”
“It’s okay,” he soothed her, “don’t try and push it. It’ll come when you’re ready. Don’t try to force it.”
“Come sit down,” Mary Margaret told her, ushering her behind the photo booth table. David pulled out a chair for her and handed her a bottle of water. Wendy pressed it to her pounding temple.
“Thank you,” she told them all.
“Are you okay?” Henry asked worriedly. Alice picked up her hand and patted it the way she did her favorite white rabbit.
Wendy smiled up at the kids and squeezed Alice’s hand. “I’m fine, really. Why don’t you two go get some food?”
The kids looked up at their dad, and Killian nodded his approval. After they had scurried off, he kneeled next to Wendy and took the hand Alice had relinquished.
“How about you? Are you hungry?”
Killian looked so worried, that even though she wasn’t, she nodded. “I wouldn’t say no to one of those cupcakes I saw over there.”
She gave him a wobbly smile, and he gave her a hesitant one in return. He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed it before dashing off. He seemed to do it without thinking, but Wendy felt a tingle go down her arm at the simple gesture.
“You know, David, I could use a cupcake myself.” Mary Margaret told her husband.
David’s brow furrowed. “Really? Because I thought -”
“Don’t think, David, just get me a cupcake,” Mary Margaret cut him off with an arch of her brows.
“Ohh, right. I’ll, uh - be right back.”
Wendy laughed as he headed for the refreshment table and glanced up at Mary Margaret. “Real smooth.”
Mary Margaret shrugged. “Men are so dense sometimes.” She pulled a chair close to Wendy and sat down, taking both of Wendy’s hands in hers. “Do you want to talk about it?”
Wendy chewed on her lower lip. “There isn’t really anything to tell. Just like everything else, it’s so little, just bits and pieces. None of it makes sense.”
“How is your head now?”
“Better.”
“Okay, well, drink the water anyway. It can’t hurt to hydrate.”
“Yes mom,” Wendy teased with a smile before taking a drink.
When Killian got back, he insisted that Wendy not only eat her cupcake but also a small plate of cheese and crackers before he was satisfied that she was fine. He stayed right by her side, even though Wendy noticed several single women eying him with jealousy. He could be dancing with any number of them, but instead he was waiting to make sure her headache was gone.
Alice was on the dance floor with a group of girls from her school, and Wendy and Killian laughed at their silly antics. They also watched with fondness when Henry shyly shuffled up to a dark haired girl from his class.
“That’s Violet,” Killian informed her, “you met her at one of the farms I took you to.”
“Oh, I remember. She seems like a sweet girl.”
“She is, and Henry’s had a bit of a crush since school started,” Killian leaned closer and whispered in her ear, “but I don’t think I’m supposed to know about it.”
Henry didn’t ask the girl to dance, but he did pull his cell phone and some ear buds out of his pocket and say something to her. Violet nodded shyly, taking one of the ear buds and sticking it in her ear.
“Aw, they’re listening to a song together,” Wendy said, poking Killian in the side.
“Why? The DJs already playing music. Why the bloody hell didn’t he ask her to dance?”
“Oh come on, don’t sound like an old man. It’s sweet.”
Alice popped up seemingly out of nowhere with a huge grin on her face. “Did you hear the DJ? They’re about to do the cha-cha slide. You’ve got to come out here and do it!”
Alice grabbed both of their hands and pulled. Killian’s face immediately turned red.
“I don’t think that dance is really my style . . . “
“Oh come on,” Wendy teased, “the song tells you exactly what to do, Jones.”
“Please Daddy, please?”
“Well, I can never say no to that.”
Wendy and Killian followed the little girl onto the dance floor and lined up with other members of the town. The song started up, and the crowd cheered. “Everybody clap your hands!”
“Well, I can handle this, I guess,” Killian quipped, and Wendy laughed.
“To the left, take it back now, ya’ll.”
The crowd on the dance floor followed the song’s instructions, and Killian kept laughing as he looked over at Wendy. Alice cheered her father on, which was adorable.
“Hands on your knees, hands on your knees. Get funky with it!”
“Um, why is this so awkward?” Killian muttered.
“Probably because of those tight pants,” Wendy laughed.
“Come on, cha cha now ya’ll.”
“You girls have much better moves than I do.”
“Of course we do, Daddy!” Alice giggled.
“Wow, what a vote of confidence,” Killian said dryly.
Wendy’s cheeks ached from laughing so hard by the time the dance was over. The crowd cheered. Killian wiped his forehead in an exaggerated fashion.
“Come on, old man,” Wendy teased, “you not jiggy with it?”
Killian’s eyebrows rose to his hairline. “Now who sounds old?”
“I have amnesia.”
“Oh, that’s your excuse.”
“Okay, all you lovers out there,” the DJ announced, “this one’s for you.”
The musical intro of a slow song began to play, and Killian turned to Wendy with a tender smile and an outstretched hand. “May I have this dance?”
“Ew gross,” Alice announced with a wrinkled nose, “I’m gonna go get another cupcake.”
Wendy laughed as she took Killian’s hand. He pulled her close and placed his plastic hook at her waist. They started to sway to the music.
“This hook makes slow dancing a little awkward. I’d much rather feel something with my left hand -” he stuttered to a stop, his face turning bright red. “I mean, I didn’t - that . . . I didn’t mean that the way it sounded.”
Wendy laughed and shook her head. “I know what you meant.”
“Good.”
Wendy tilted her head as she took in his pink tinged cheeks. She relinquished his hand and rested hers on his shoulder, then she slid both arms around his neck. Killian’s other hand fell to her waist.
“Is this better?” she asked.
“Much better.”
They both fell silent as the words to the song washed over them. “There’s a ghost upon the moor tonight. Now it’s in our house. When you walked into the room just then, it’s like the sun came out.”
Wendy couldn’t seem to look away from the deep pools of his blue eyes, and Killian’s arms wrapped tighter around her. His face bent closer, inch by agonizing inch, until their noses were brushing and their breaths mingled. The music around them swelled in intensity.
“And the day is clear. My voice is just a whisper louder than the screams you hear. It’s
like the sun came out.”
“Killian,” she whispered, her voice breaking as her eyes fluttered closed. His lips brushed hesitantly over hers, and she melted against him.
“Emma, thank God we found you!”
Wendy’s head spun with confusion, as one moment she was awaiting Killian’s lips being pressed against hers, and the next a no-nonsense brunette was pulling her away from him. The woman narrowed her eyes as she clasped Wendy by both elbows and gave her a tiny shake.
“Emma, it’s me, Regina.”
“Emma!” another voice cried out, and before Wendy could process anything else, a man
was crushing her to him in an embrace.
“Wait,” Killian spoke up, “who the hell are you?”
“I’m her fiance,” the sandy-haired man snapped, “the better question is who are you?”
“She doesn’t have a ring.”
Wendy, still confused, looked down at her bare ring finger. “I don’t have a ring.” All around them, there were whispers from the other townspeople. The music still played, but no one was dancing anymore.
“Well, we hadn’t gotten around to that part yet,” the man - her fiance? - grumbled.
Wendy looked dazedly up at Killian. Mary Margaret and David were just behind him. Alice had come up and put her arms around him. Henry was on his other side.
“My . . . my name is Emma. Emma Swan.”
Killian searched her face as his lips ticked up just a bit in one corner. “Swan. Emma Swan.”
“Yes, Emma Swan,” the brunette snapped, “we’ve established that’s her name, and I’m Regina Mills, her agent. Emma, we’ve got to get you back to New York. This solo album won’t happen if you don’t get back to the studio. Not to mention the interviews I’ve got lined up.”
Killian blinked rapidly. “Agent? Solo album?”
“That’s right. She’s Emma Swan, singer and rhythm guitarist for the band Wendy Sewed it On.” It was Zelena, smirking behind Regina Mills, with Sheriff Graham at her side. She shoved a magazine in Killian’s face. Killian scanned it, then looked up in shock at Emma.
“Violet said she thought you looked familiar,” he said softly.
“We found your car Ms. Swan,” Sheriff Graham spoke up, “it’s totalled, but we have your luggage, your purse, and your phone down at the station.
“So come on, Emma,” Regina insisted.
“Let’s go home Emma,” Walsh said slowly to her, as if she were a child.
Emma shook her head and backed away from both of them. “Wait - just a minute. I . . . I have to say goodbye.”
Tears gathered in her eyes as she turned to Killian and the kids. She smiled as she reached for Killian’s hand. It still held the magazine, but he let it flutter to the floor when she took his hand.
“This is my life I guess,” she told him.
He searched her face, lines furrowing his brow. “You remember?”
A single tear slipped down her face, but she forced nonchalance as she half-shrugged. “I remember my name finally. I guess the rest will come.”
He glanced hesitantly over her shoulder at Regina and Walsh, then he leaned closer and lowered his voice. “You know you’re welcome to stay with us as long as you need to.”
“Don’t go!” Alice cried out, flinging herself at Emma and wrapping her arms around her waist. Emma bent down and kissed the top of the girl’s head.
“I’ll miss you all, and you’ve been so kind to me, but . . . maybe if I go home, I’ll remember my life. I have to try.”
Killian’s shoulders sagged as he nodded slowly. “I understand.” He stepped closer and cupped her cheek. “Your heart’s desire - that’s all I want for you.”
Emma reached up and clasped his hand in hers, then reached forward and brushed a
chaste kiss to his cheek.
“I’ll think about you,” Emma choked, “all of you, everyday.”
Killian forced a smile, tears welling up in his blue eyes. “Good.” Then he forced a wink, and Emma choked on a half sob, half laugh.
“Goodbye,” she whispered, then let Regina and Walsh - who still felt like strangers - usher her quickly from the room.
This week I find out more about the very talented Music Photographer Deb Kloeden
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I studied photography as part of my Fine Arts course when training to be a teacher back in the days of film. I cut my concert photography teeth shooting friends in local bands in rural Mt Gambier in my early 20s. After years of teaching Art, Photography and Graphic Design, I decided to leave the teaching game and follow my dream of becoming a concert photographer, combining my loves for music and photography.
What made you want to get into music photography? Have long have you been doing it?
I have always been a keen music fan, attending concerts since the age of 14. Photography is my other passion, so it made sense to combine my two passions. I used to envy the photographers who had access to the photo pit and decided I would make it my mission to join them. Since 2015 I have been photographing artists and festivals throughout Australia and also in New Zealand, where I regularly visit (pre Covid). I officially joined my first media outlet in 2015 and have never looked back.
What is the best photo you have taken?
The photo I am most proud of is one I took of Ty Taylor from Vintage Trouble at my very first Byron Bay Bluesfest as an approved photographer. He is famous for his horizonal leaps from the mic stand & I was very keen to capture this move.
Tumblr media
What is the best concert you have attended?
As a punter, my favourite concerts have been Bob Marley, David Bowie, Queen, Pink Floyd & Red Hot Chili Peppers.
As a photographer my favourite concert was Roger Waters. I was a huge Pink Floyd fan in my younger days, so to stand so close to one of my idols and take photographs was incredibly exciting.
What bands are still on your bucket list?
The Rolling Stones and Red Hot Chili Peppers come first to mind.
What camera and gear do you use when shooting?
Canon 5DMkII
Canon 5D MKIV
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8
Have you got a Favourite Venue you like shooting at?
I have several.
The Gov, Adelaide is my favourite pub venue.
Womadelaide Festival in Botanic Park, Adelaide is a stunning park venue.
Byron Bay Bluesfest stages always have amazing lighting.
Finally, where can people find you?
Mädchen Amick teases Riverdale directorial debut, and what she learned from David Lynch
Mädchen Amick wasn't planning to direct the Riverdale season 4 finale. But when the coronavirus pandemic halted production across the world, her directorial debut on the CW series moved into the coveted spot.
"You want it to be exciting and climactic and really building its energy, so I wanted to honor that," the actress tells EW of her fateful episode. "There was a little extra pressure."
Amick has been directing since 2015, beginning with one of her daughter Mina Tobias' music videos. And while Riverdale has kept her busy playing Alice Cooper, the uptight, haunted mother of Betty (Lili Reinhart), since 2017, she has long dreamed of stepping behind the camera as well.
She finally got her shot for "Killing Mr. Honey," which was originally intended as the 19th installment of the 22-episode season. Now it will have to stand as the conclusion — and Amick warns that it ends on a cliffhanger.
In the photos above and below, EW has an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Amick's directing days on Riverdale. And ahead of the episode's May 6 airing, we called up Amick to discuss her experiences calling the shots, what it was like pulling double duty, and how working with David Lynch early in her career inspired her as an auteur.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How long have you had an itch to direct, and how did this episode come about?
MÄDCHEN AMICK: I moved to L.A. at 16, and got Twin Peaks at 17. I would say around my mid-20s, I had it in the back of my mind that I wanted to be more than just an actress and be a storyteller, but so many things in my career made me busy and made me feel like, "Oh, I don’t have time to step behind the camera. I have to keep busy and focused on staying in front of the camera." This was in the mid-'90s, and there were a few female directors — one in particular was Diane Keaton on the original Twin Peaks — that showed me there are women doing this, but [now] there’s a little bit of this movement to get more diversity behind the camera that I benefitted from. I have to give credit to my husband and my daughter. She asked me to direct her music video, and I was honored and jumped right in. I’ve done a few music videos. I’ve directed and produced a docuseries pilot. At the beginning of Riverdale when I did that first thing, I’d started asking around and asking [creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa] and [producers] Sarah Schechter and Greg Berlanti. I said, "Hey, guys, I really would love to direct an episode." They were super-supportive and excited. So it was this season that Roberto said, "You want to direct this season?" And I was like, "Yes!"
Riverdale has a very specific, highly stylized aesthetic. Did that make directing easier or harder, especially when it comes to putting your own stamp on the episode?
It was easy for me. I know the show so well, inside and out. I really enjoy the storytelling and the filmmaking part of it. So I know what Roberto likes, as far as the way he likes the story to be told and unfold. That was a great template that was already in place, and I wanted to honor that. Then, I just wanted to elevate it as much as I could and get as strong as performances out of all my fellow actors, which they were great and supportive. And just push the visual boundaries as much as possible. Presenting new ways to shoot scenes, but still staying within the world and the visual look to it, and just hoping that Roberto loved it.
I remember Roberto and I had a conversation: It might’ve been season 2 or season 3, but there was an episode and he said it didn’t feel very inspired. That really gave me an insight into [that] he really wants directors to come on board and love the show and be excited about the show, and then bring an inspirational take to it. That made me feel I had a little bit of freedom to run with it, and he didn’t want a cookie cutter, just make everything the same. It was nice to hear he wanted something that was inspired.
When you directed the episode, it wasn’t meant to be the season finale, but now it is. Is that exciting? Nerve-racking?
Since it's [episode] 19 of 22, you are getting to the end, so there’s usually a lot of climactic things happening. That’s a lot of responsibility, just because I want to get it right. I know we’re getting toward the end, and those last few are really important to start tying up loose ends or building to a cliffhanger. You want it to be exciting and climactic and really building its energy, so I wanted to honor that. There was a little extra pressure.
Did it lead to any last-minute adjustments or changes in the storytelling?
The episode that I shot was the last episode that we completed as far as filming. We were halfway through 20 when production stopped, so I was editing when production stopped. At that point, we didn’t really know that the season would be done. It was a little bit of a holding pattern of, "Are we just pausing and we’ll get back to it, or will our season end a little short?" Now knowing my episode will serve as the finale for this season, obviously we’ll pick up back up next season. They’ll have to adjust some storytelling with what they had planned at the end of this season. As far as my episode, it pretty much stayed intact the way it was written. There was a new layer that came into the story that now serves as an interesting cliffhanger.
You also appear as Alice throughout the episode. What was it like having to pull double duty?
I’m not gonna lie, it was a huge challenge. My brain was so much behind the camera that it was hard for me to switch over to being in character. I could easily slip into Alice, but I could not remember my lines, and I’m usually really good at that. I was really struggling. In one scene in particular, there’s a big confrontation that Alice has with Mr. Honey and she drives the whole scene with all of the parents, and I could not remember it, to the point where my fellow actors were whispering the lines to me to try to help me get through it. Man, it was rough. I know I’ll continue to get better with that with practice, but my brain was not in that space at all. I was full-on thinking of shots and directing my other actors, so it was a big challenge.
This episode is going to have to hold us over for a while; what can you tease about it? Would you say it’s a satisfactory end to the season?
The whole theme of the episode is the big confrontation between the kids and their awful Principal Honey, who’s just been tormenting them the whole season. So lots of really, really fun stuff. There’s a mixture of some fantasy of what they want to do to Mr. Honey and some reality of what ends up happening to Mr. Honey. So that’s the big tease.
The back half of the season angered so many Varchie and Bughead fans, and it doesn’t seem like the same instant regret Archie and Betty have had over previous kisses. What can you say about where those relationships and feelings are headed? Might Riverdale be exploding some of its most beloved relationships?
[Laughs] Why? Why were they upset? No, but don’t they always teeter on that? I think Roberto loves to torture the fans, quite frankly. That’s the fun dynamic, and that is what’s classic to the Archie Comics, is you have this love triangle that’s always been between Archie, Betty, Veronica, and now we’ve thrown in Jughead into the mix. It’s complicated, but we’ll see what ends up happening at the end of senior year and where relationships really go. I know the plan for the next season is we were going to jump forward in time and see where everybody had landed, but I don’t know if that’s gonna adjust now that our season changed a bit.
Both Skeet Ulrich and Marisol Nichols had announced they were leaving at the end of this season, leaving you as the only original Riverdale parent left standing. Now that filming has ended early, does that alter their plans? Will we get any hint of where F.P. and Hermione were originally headed?
As far as the episode I directed, there wasn’t really anything different happening for their characters. It was the same story line going on. But with technically three more episodes they had planned, I’m assuming they had plans. I also know Roberto really loves Skeet and Marisol, and he told me he hopes their characters can come and go from the show depending on everyone’s availability. It’s always funny whenever some of our characters die on the show, it’s like, "Oh, well that guarantees you’ll be on more often." Nobody’s ever really gone on Riverdale.
Does it feel weird to know Alice was going to be the last one left? And what might that mean for her going forward? She seems so happy with FP, it’s really sad to imagine that ending.
I know! They were finally doing good. I don’t know what Roberto has planned, but yeah, poor Alice. She’s really going to be alone now. Maybe she’ll just be ruling the town, who knows? Maybe we need to start a new campaign, Mayor Alice. Obviously not until next year, but just even thinking about coming back next season and having all my O.G. homies not around on a consistent basis, it’s definitely going to be really sad. I’m absolutely going to miss them, but I know that won’t end our friendship.
Earlier in the season, we had evidence Chic and Charles are working together. Will we see any answers there, and what might it mean for Alice to discover her long-lost son has betrayed her once again?
We hadn’t gotten into that for my episode. I think that was in the next few, so she hasn’t experienced the betrayal yet. I know she’s really resilient, but there’s been a lot of betrayal in this woman’s life. I think Alice is going to need some therapy next season.
And not of the Farm variety.
Real, good old-fashioned traditional therapy.
We were setting up for high school graduation to round out this season, and the characters going off to college or other futures. Will we ever get some taste of graduation, and have you any hint of where the kids will end up next year?
No, I don’t. I know the idea was we were going to jump forward in time a little bit to see what they had done. I’m assuming something brings them back to the town of Riverdale.
Can you point to moment or visual choice that you felt defined your identity or artistic choices?
Jughead and Betty have a fantasy going about what they would do to Mr. Honey, and so Betty’s revenge fantasy inspires Jughead to write an essay for college submissions. We get to go into and reenact Jughead’s fantasies and his writing. I wanted to push the envelope in those scenes. You don’t want to go too far out of the way where you’re totally getting rid of reality, but I wanted to visually have some fun with breaking the rules of what you’re supposed to do with shots and how you edit them together. Jughead is all about classic storytelling, so my inspiration was Alfred Hitchcock and Citizen Kane and that kind of stuff. We did a lot of twisted shots and shots that moved in weird [ways], very Vertigo- or Citizen Kane-inspired.
How much were you influenced by the visual artistry of working with David Lynch so early in your career?
He was my mentor from the very beginning. I didn’t really know too much about filmmaking until I worked on Twin Peaks with him. He showed me you think outside the box and do things that feel and look right to you. It wasn’t until I went into the business after Twin Peaks that I realized how different and what an innovator he was. That’s always been in there as my base, to just not be afraid of taking risks. He sent me a really beautiful email my first day of directing, and just reminding me to make sure I did every single thing I want in every single shot, and to have fun.
