hi everyone.

i'm writing again on behalf of @mohammedabd12, who is fundraising to survive the genocide on Gaza, and eventually, evacuate with his family. his fundraiser supports himself and the rest of the Hadi family, including his brother Ibraheem, who manages the campaign.

Northern Gaza, where the Hadi family lives, has been particularly brutalized by the occupation. witnesses to this violence routinely describe the situation as the worst since October 7. the eleven people in Mohammed's household simply want to survive the genocide and build towards a brighter future. providing for them is the least that we can do.

the cost of living for Mohammed and Ibraheem's family of eleven is about $100 a day. this price covers the barest essentials - just a mouthful of food and water, enough to survive on. (his brother Ibrahim shared this $100 estimate nearly a month ago; the price has surely risen since then.)

ISRAELI OCCUPATION BOMBS FOREIGN AID WORKERS, CONTINUES BOMBING ACROSS GAZA ON DAY 179 OF GENOCIDE

On the 179th day of "Israel's" ongoing war of genocide in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) committed a total of 7 new massacres of Palestinian families, resulting in the deaths of no less than 71 Palestinians, mostly women and children, while another 102 others were wounded over the previous 24-hours.

In the latest occupation atrocity, the Zionist army bombed the vehicle of a group of Foreign aid personnel working for the World Central Kitchen (WCK), killing 7 employees, including 6 foreigners.

"World Central Kitchen is devastated to confirm seven members of our team have been killed in an IDF strike in Gaza," the organization said in a statement on its website.

According to the World Central Kitchen, despite coordinating the organization's movements with the Israeli occupation army, a convoy including two armored cars branded with the WCK logo and one soft-skin vehicle that were carrying the WCK team while it was traveling through a "deconflicted zone" was struck by an Israeli bomb, destroying at least one of the vehicles.

WCK says the team was leaving their Deir al-Balah warehouse, in the central Gaza Strip, where their teams unloaded more than 100 tons of humanitarian food aid brought to Gaza through a maritime route, when the convoy was targeted by Zionist forces.

“This is not only an attack against WCK, this is an attack on humanitarian organizations showing up in the most dire of situations where food is being used as a weapon of war. This is unforgivable,” World Central Kitchen CEO, Erin Gore is quoted as saying.

The seven foreign aid workers killed in the Zionist strike included citizens from Australia, Poland, the United Kingdom, as well as a dual-citizen of the United States and Canada, and one Palestinian.

“I am heartbroken and appalled that we—World Central Kitchen and the world—lost beautiful lives today because of a targeted attack by the IDF. The love they had for feeding people, the determination they embodied to show that humanity rises above all, and the impact they made in countless lives will forever be remembered and cherished,” Erin Gore added.

In response to the International outcry over the atrocity, the Israeli occupation authorities said they will be “carrying out an in-depth examination at the highest levels to understand the circumstances of this tragic incident.”

The World Central Kitchen has suspended its operations in Gaza as a result of the incident.

In yet another atrocity yesterday, the Israeli occupation army bombed the Iranian consulate building in the Syrian capital of Damascus, killing several high-level Iranian officials, including 7 military advisors of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

In response to the strike, Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said in an announcement issued on Tuesday that the "evil Zionist regime will regret" it's crime of assasinating Iran's military advisors in Syria.

The Iranian leader said that both Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force, and his deputy, General Mohammed Hadi Haji Rahimi were killed in the strike, which targeted the Iranian consulate in Damascus, declaring the crime was perpetrated by the "usurping and dispicable" Zionist regime.

“The evil regime will be punished by our brave men. We will make them regret this crime and other ones, by God's will," the Iranian leader added.

As Israel's crimes spread outside the occupied Palestinian territories and the Gaza Strip, and into the wider West Asian region, the bombing inside Palestine continued unabated.

In just one example, local civil defense crews recovered the bodies of six Palestinians who were killed, including two children, along with a number of wounded civilians, following a Zionist occupation airstrike targeting the Zarub family home, located in the city of Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip.

In another atrocity, several Palestinians were killed and a large number wounded after occupation artillery shelling targeted a number of residential buildings in the city of Khan Yunis, also in the south of Gaza, focusing artillery fire on the eastern and central parts of the city.

Meanwhile, Zionist warplanes bombed the al-Bashir Mosque, in the city of Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip, martyring a several civilians, including the death of at least one child, and wounding at least 20 others, while also dealing significant damage to neighboring residential buildings.

Similarly, Zionist fighter jets fired several missiles that slammed into two residential homes in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, while occupation artillery shelling targeted the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, along with the Sheikh Ajlin neighborhood, martyring three civilians and wounding six others.

Over the last day, as the Zionist occupation army withdrew from the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, located in the Al-Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City, which had been the largest and most well-equipped hospital in the entire Gaza Strip, a scene of mass destruction and carnage was revealed, with hundreds of bodies littering the hospital grounds, including some bodies discovered with handcuffed wrists, having been extra-judicially executed in cold-blood.

Among the bodies recovered from Al-Shifa were doctors and healthcare personnel, along with entire Palestinian families, which the Gaza Media Office says were just a small part of the roughly 400 citizens that were killed in two weeks of fighting near the hospital.

About another 900 Palestinians were arrested or detained by Zionist forces under suspicion of belonging to Resistance groups, while the Hospital buildings themselves were nearly completely destroyed, blown to pieces and left as scorched shells by the American bombs dropped on them by the Israeli occupation army.

As a result of "Israel's" ongoing war of genocide in the Gaza Strip, the infinitely rising death toll has now exceeded 32'916 Palestinians killed, more than 25'000 of which being among women and children, while an additional 75'494 others have been wounded since the start of the current round of Zionist aggression beginning on October 7th, 2023.

Descendants AU where the villains are surprisingly good parents. Out of spite but then it turned genuine.

It started off with some of the good characters of Auradon said that its impossible for villains to love or even comprehend what love is.

You know what the villains think? Aight, bet.

Some of the villains are genuinely good parents, like Hades since he is the god with the less shenanigans out of the entire pantheon.

Since this is an AU, I've thought of making Mal close with the Underworld family rather than being directly related to Hades (maybe she's very distantly related, some generations back from her father's side?)

Hadie's real name was Zagreus, but since he looks after his father a lot other villain parents calls him Hadie as a nickname. When he reached adolescence only the adults knows his real name.

Hades and Captain Hook might be the best dads on the island, and they have a friendly rivalry on who's the top dad on the island is.

Spoiler, it was Facilier who won that title.

Captain Hook is probably one of the first to be on board the idea of trying to raise a child (or three) properly, because his nemesis is a boy who brings children to a dangerous island and 'thins them out' when they get older, of course he'd grow a conscience.

Hook's wife lives in our world, along with their three children, but when the barrier was erected the magic pulled the children to the Isle.

His wife also happens to be Mary Darling's sister, which make Wendy and her brothers cousins with the Hook kids.

The Hook siblings' mother never knew what happened to them. She thinks that The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up took them as revenge for being bested by Hook long ago.

Hook having his three children (Harriet, Harry and CJ) suddenly ended up on his bed at three in the morning surely isn't how he expects fatherhood to come back to him.

Mal is technically the oldest Villain Kid on the Isle, because she was a dragon fae she came from an egg, and her egg was laid more than a century before the villains were banished to the Isle of Lost.

Her egg was supposed to hatch about 100 years ago, but due to the whole fiasco with Sleeping Beauty and some of the fairies hating what Maleficent did, they cursed her egg so it won't hatch until Sleeping Beauty woke up.

And the fact that the father was a human and there was no magic on the Isle rises the possibility of the child dying within the shells of their egg.

It caused Maleficent so much grief during that 100 years time. Even when she was banished she worries that the people of Auradon were right; she doesn't know how to love. That's why her child don't hatch.

Mal's birth was the greatest thing to happen to Maleficent, next to the happier times in her past.

The Evil Queen/Grimhilde is best friends with Maleficent. She was by Maleficent's side when she was grieving the fate of her unhatched child.

Grimhilde is the best at gossip because of her mirror.

She and Cruella probably make a living on making children clothes.

Gaston probably struggled in how to take care of children. Before, he wanted boys yes, so he can teach them how to hunt and be a man. But when he realised that parenthood started even before the child is born he knew he needed help.

Unfortunately none of the villain dad group could help Gaston with his horrible naming scheme.

At least Gil was spared from the confusing fate of sharing his name with his dad.

Ursula also needs help when raising Uma, since she has no idea how to raise a half-mer daughter.

She figured it out, mostly. But sometimes Uma just went and do some of the weirdest things that are neither Merfolk things nor human things. Eventually the entire island just chalk it up to an average child's weirdness.

Jay and Carlos are neighbours, and they stick to each other's sides, thick as thieves. Carlos sometimes take scrap fur and sew them into a blanket they use for fort.

The Core Four and Sea Three are friends, although the shrimp accident happened because Gil's brothers think it'd be funny.

That was the day the island learned that Mal has way too many teeth in her mouth and too little reason not to use them.

When Ben became king and asked the Isle children to come to Auradon, he doesn't realise what he had brought to the kingdom.

Harry asked Smee in forging three more letters so the Sea Three can go to Auradon too.

Mal made a magic copy of the original letter and printed it to avoid magic detectors.

Jay swapped the fake with the original, and nobody realise that there aren't supposed to be seven Isle kids in the kingdom.

Ben did and asked why there's seven of them, to which Carlos said, "What do you mean? Of course there's seven of us, it says so in the letter. Everyone of us gets it,"

There's still plot with Audrey being bitter with her breakup, but instead of the entire island save the cast falling asleep, everyone (on Auradon and Isle of Lost) falls asleep and the Core Seven has to navigate the dreams and reach Audrey.

Maybe the Core Seven sees their parents' lives before the Isle.

Maybe at one point they end up in London, somehow the magic Audrey used connected them to that world via Hook's wife.

For the Descendants kids with horrible and trashy names, how would you name them? From books and movies.

So I'll just go ahead and give how I changed each name for My Canon Descendants AU, to make them feel more like their own character/fit better with the og movies time periods/cultures. I didn't give them all unique names as the point of the project was to translate the Descendants kids into the actual movies, not make full OCs, (though I did end up making a few of those anyway xD) but I tried to at least adjust them.

Mal--Mallow (to go with the Nature name theme the Three Good Fairies had going on with their own names/Briar Rose)

Audrey I kept as it was actually a Medieval name!

Evie-- Eva, it's a pretty easy fix to more period accurate/Germanic sounding

Doug -- Doleful, to fit better with the Dwarfs Attribute names, plus he seemed kinda down in the first movie so the meaning felt like it fit

Carlos I kept because honestly I felt like it could fit in universe if Cruella's husband was a Spanish man, which he conceivabley could be

Jay--Jaamil, and no not because of Twisted Wonderland that just happened by accident xD

They orginally had Aladdin's deleted sin be named Aziz but there was already an Aladdin character named that in the TV show who was a villain so I changed it to Ahmed, like one of the other Arabian Nights heroes

Ben--I changed from Benjamin to Benedict as that was more French/period appropriate

Honestly I could 100% see Gaston naming his sons after himself so I kept Gastons 1 and 2 but I changed Gil to Gilbert (French pronunciation of course)

Lonnie...oh Lonnie. I changed her name to Chi, as with her patronymic of Li she would be Li Chi, which sounded similar to Lonnie but would actually be Chinese and is the name of a girl in a Chinese legend who slays a dragon, which was what I based her hypothetical movie plot on

Chad I changed to Charles, easy enough. Much more elegant and formal

Jane I just changed to Janet to make it a little fancier/Frenchier as well xD

Dizzy I changed to Daisy (though I suppose since she's French based, it really should be Marguerite...eh Daisy can be the nickname)

Uma I kept cuz honestly its a good name and her song is a banger 👌

Harry is fine, good pirate name, short for Henry, which also works. Harriet was fine too, just made her and Harry twins and made CJ go by her first name only of Calista.

Honestly with a pirate dad named Smee Squeeky and Squirmy also work, though they're definitely nicknames.

Celia works fine, it fits with the time/culture of 1920s New Orleans, though I did change Freddie to Frederique.

Getting into some book characters now:

Artie I changed to Amhar, a lesser known son of Arthur (could have done Mordred but as the kid was meant to be heroic I decided to go with Amhar, plus it started with A x)

Mad Maddy honestly isn't a bad name, but I did change it to Matilda to be a bit more Medieval sounding, plus linked her to Matilda of the Night, a Medieval witch legend.

(And apparently there's gonna be a son of Morgana Le Fay in the new movie named... Morgie. My gosh. Well we'll change that right back to Yvain. Her actual son, no she's not Mordred's mother no matter what the movies try to tell you she's his aunt and I will die on this pedantic hill)

Hadie I instantly changed to Zagreus. He's the literal son of Hades and goodness its such a better name. Same with changing Herkie to Hyllus. Also an actual son of Hercules and doesn't sound like a euphemism for throwing up.

Allie I changed to Mary Jean after the Real Alice's grandaughter, and when I made my Queen of Hearts Kid D4 hadn't been announced yet so I named her Aceline (a pun on Ace of Hearts)

Ruby and Anxelin weren't terrible names so I kept them, just made Anxelin a Dark Kingdom name xD (and apparently they're giving Rapunzel a third daughter in the new movie? Her name is just Zellie though...so I think I'll just keep these two. Zellie could definitely work as being short for Anxelin and hey, Rapunzel had twins in the actual fairytale so two just works)

Wrapping it up:

Claudine isnt too bad and fits the time period but I changed her parent from Frollo to his brother Jehan cuz that man should never ever get to be with any woman.

Clay Clayton I changed to Cecil after the actual Clayton character in the books who wasn't that bad of a guy.

Yzla works fine as a name for Yzma's daughter. I just changed Zevon to Yzon to match better and not sound so much like he escaped the 23rd century

Ginny Gothel I just lengthened out to Ginevra to sound more fantastical

I didn't actually do anything for Pocahontas as it always kinda controversial to touch. But if I did I'd of course just make her descendant her actual son Thomas Rolfe and apparently they gave Ratcliffe a son named Rick? So...we'll change his name to Richard or--well one sec let me see if Actual Historical Governor Ratcliffe had any kids.

OK! Looks like he didn't but he did die horribly. My Gosh.

Anyway I think that's everyone!

In 1920, Syria Palestina was a Roman-named colony or region, not a country, (aka Palestine), stretching from Iraq to southern Syria, and of course, there was no country called Jordan. The word Palestine was 100% derived from the Hebrew name for the Philistines. There is no evidence of a written language left by the philistines and the only name that they were known by was the name given to them by the Hebrews at the time. The evolution of the word went something like this:

פלש—פלישתים—ארץ פלשת—סוריה פלסטינה/פלשתינה—פלסטין/פלשתין

PaLaSh—plishtim—the land of paleset—Syria Palestina (the name given to the land of Israel and Judea as a punishment by the Roman)—- Palestine

PaLaSh is the Hebrew root word for invade meaning we called the sea fairing invaders by their actual name, invaders

Important to know that the Arabs absolutely DENIED ANY RELEVANCE and would not ascribe and meaning re: "Palestine" for themselves.

Arab nationalists in the post-WWI period ADAMANTLY rejected the designation. Arab spokesmen continued to insist that the land was, like Lebanon, merely a fragment of Syria. On the grounds that it dismembered an ideal unitary Arab state, they fought before the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry and at the United Nations. The Arab historian Philip K. Hitti informed the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry that “there is no such thing as Palestine in history.”

In 1937, Awni Bey Abdul-Hadi, founder of the first Palestinian Arab political party, testified to the Peel Commission, "There is no such country as Palestine. 'Palestine' is a term the Zionists invented. There is no Palestine in the Bible. Palestine is alien to us."

In May 1956, Ahmed Shukairy, who became the first head of the Palestine Liberation Organization (at a time when Jordan had annexed the "West Bank" and Egypt controlled Gaza), declared to the United Nations Security Council, “It is common knowledge that Palestine is nothing but southern Syria.”

In February 1970, Prince El Hassan bin Tala of Jordan, stated to the Jordanian National Assembly that "Palestine is Jordan and Jordan is Palestine; there is one people and one land, with one history and one and the same fate." Seven months later, the PLO attempted to take over Jordan, lost, and were unceremoniously, kicked out.

In 1977, PLO Executive Committee member Zahir Muhsein stated, "The Palestinian people do not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for our continuing struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. … In reality there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians, and Lebanese."

One might argue that this particular group of Arabs established, sometime in the mid 1960s, a political identity as "Palestinians," when Arafat returned from strategic partnership meetings with the Soviets communists who were attempting to gain a larger foothold in the region, and advised him how to use "Palestine" identity as a cudgel against Israel.

What they are NOT is "ancient" inhabitants of the region which, under Ottoman rule, was also dubbed "Syria-Palestine." What they are NOT is any sort of distinct ETHNIC group—like the Judeans (Judea/Samaria/Israel), the Phoenicians (Lebanon), the Kurds, the Druze, or the Circassians. They are Arabs, sharing the language, culture, religion, cuisine, ethnic group, etc. of the people of Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. Prior to the 1960s, before the PLO was created, there were ZERO Arabs self-identifying as Palestinians. During the 19 years that Jordan controlled the so-called "West Bank" (Judea and Samaria, which had been cleansed of Jews by the Jordanians) and when Egypt controlled Gaza, there was no movement to create a "Palestinian" state.

Attached is a photo of the Palestine Symphony Orchestra in 1936, which consisted of 73 jewish musicians, and conducted by none other than Arturo Toscanini (born in Parma, father was a tailor). Toscanini was the music director at La Scala, before spending spent 7 years conducting the New York Metropolitan Opera (1908-1915) and the New York Philharmonic (1926-1936). He lived out his latter years in NYC, about a 1/2 mile from where I lived for a decade from 2005-2015 in Riverdale (Bronx), which is now called Wave Hill, a non-profit cultural institution and botanical garden, located on 26 acres adjacent to the Hudson River.

Hz. Aişe Annemizin Yaşı

...öncelikle şunu söyleyelim ki eğer böyle olsaydı ve Efendimiz ﷺ 5 -6 yaşında bir kız ile evlenseydi, biz bir mü’min olarak bunu sorgulamaz, bu konuda şu an modern dünyanın bize telkin ettiği bazı düşüncelerden etkilenerek asla konuşmazdık. Ancak bu konuda yaptığımız araştırmalara göre Aişe annemiz nişanladığında 15-16 evlendiğinde 18-19 yaşlarındadır. Biraz teknik bir konu olan bu mevzuya, burada fazlaca girmeden, bazı verileri sizlerle paylaşmak istiyorum.

Eğer bu uygulamayı esas alırsak, Hz. Aişe’nin 9 yaşında evlendiği iddiasını, “9 yıldır ay hali görüyordu” şeklinde anlamak gerekecektir. 9 yıldır ay hali görmesi ve bir 9 yılda çocukluk dönemini dikkate alınca, Hz. Aişe validemiz evlendiğinde 18 yaşlarında bir genç kız olduğu anlaşılacaktır.(İbn Hişam, es-Sîre)

📌Hz. Aişe validemiz yıllar sonra Mekke’nin ilk dönemlerinde inen bir sûre olan, Kıyamet Sûresinin iniş zamanı sorulduğu zaman: "Ben Mekke'de sokaklarda oynayan bir çocuk iken Kıyamet saatinin dehşetini anlatan şu ayetler (Kamer Sûresi, 54/46) nazil oldu” (Buhari) diye cevap vermesi, onun yaşını tespit etmemiz açısından önemli bir işarettir. Bu sûrenin nübüvvetin 3. ya da 4. yılında nazil olduğunu hatırlarsak, Aişe validemizin de oyun oynayacak ve dile getirilen sûreyi aklında tutacak bir yaşta olması gerektiğini de dikkate alırsak; o günlerde en az 6-7 yaşlarında olması icap edecektir. Hz. Aişe’nin Efendimiz ﷺ ile evliliğinin nübüvvetin 13. yılında gerçekleştiğini hatırlarsak, demek ki bu evlilik Kamer Sûresinin nazil olmasından yaklaşık 10 yıl sonra olduğunu kabul etmek zorunda kalacağız. Böyle olunca da Aişe validemizin evlendiği zaman yaşının en az 17 ya da 18 olduğu anlaşılacaktır.

📌Birçok tarihi kaynak Aişe validemiz ile ablası Esma arasındaki yaş farkının 10 olduğunu söylerler. (Nevevî, Tehzîbul-Esmâ,II, 597; Hâkim, el-Müstedrek, III,) Hicretin 73. yılında 100 yaşında vefat etmiş olan büyük İslâm kadını Hz. Esma hicret sırasında, 27-28 yaşlarında idi. Eğer bu yaşlarda idiyse ve Aişe validemizden de 10 yaş büyük idiyse, demekki Hz. Aişe’de hicret sırasında 18 yaşlarında idi.

📌Bugün hadis kitaplarımızda yer alan ve Hz. Aişe validemizin Mekke yıllarıyla ilgili olarak anlattığı bazı rivayetler, onun yaşını tespit edebilmemize yardımcı olacak niteliktedir. Bunlardan birkaçına değinirsek, mesela; risâletten kırk yıl önce gerçekleşen ve tarih belirlemede bir ölçü olarak kabul gören fil hadisesinden geriye kalan iki kişiyi Mekke’de dilenirken gördüğünü söylemesi; (ibn hişam, ibn kesir) Mekke’nin en sıkıntılı günlerinde Allah Resûlü’nün ﷺ kendi evlerine geldiğini ve bu sıkıntılara dayanamayan babası Hz. Ebû Bekir’in de Nübüvvetin 5. veya 6. yılında Habeşistan’a hicret teşebbüsünde bulunduğunu detaylarıyla birlikte anlatması;(Buhârî, Ahmet b. Hanbel) namazın ikişer rekât farz kılındığını, mukim olanlar için daha sonraları onun dört rekâta çıkarıldığını, ancak sefer durumlarında yine iki rekât olarak bırakıldığını ifade etmesi gibi rivayetler (Taberani) onun yaşı konusunda bize ipuçları verecek niteliktedir.

Ariana and Audrey are all three relationships at the same time:

Mother and daughter: Audrey has to be firm with Ariana at this point to keep her on track and out of destructive habits, which is totally annoying to a seventeen year old girl who just wants to live her own way (aka in trouble). But Audrey also offers a sense of safety, stability, and comfort that Ari never got from her own parents growing up. She’s used to doing whatever she wants because no one’s ever cared enough to stop her, which is new and unfamiliar. Despite all the bickering they do, Ariana knows she can go to Auds for anything, while Audrey’s willing to step up and be the support her cousin needs at a moments notice.

Sister and Sister: It’s easy to forget (seeing how Audrey really grew up fast post D3) that she and Ariana are only a few years apart in age. They technically attended Auradon Prep at the same time (Ariana was a freshman when Audrey was a Senior). Yes Auds has to be maternal towards her cousin to keep her out of trouble, but they are also close enough in age that they can still communicate like the young adults they are. Away from prying eyes, they bicker and push each other around, argue over stupid things, share clothing, and generally just do stupid shit together. You may even find them in the RoyalMart at 2AM looking for snacks and cheap wine (Auds is a wine mom, 100%).

Cousin and Cousin: Despite becoming closer than they were in childhood, Audrey and Ariana still grew up in very different (emotionally destructive) households. Where Audrey had flakey but generally loving parents when they were around, she spent more time under Queen Leah, who was…well…herself (forcing her own granddaughter to villainy with her impossible expectations and passive agressive disappointment). Ariana on the other hand grew up with very present parents that blatantly didn’t care about her, her choices, or her general wellbeing (she didn’t exist until her presence was of some use).

That being said, these two can be incredibly selfish and mean spirited, especially towards one another. Audrey—being further along in her healing journey than her cousin—can often recognize when she’s falling back into old habits and fix her behavior. Ariana, however, is still young, emotionally dysregulated and volatile. Ari’s not mean like Audrey was (for the sake of control/for the acceptance of others), she just doesn’t like people in general and is cruel to protect her safe space—a habit learned from her mother. She’s working through it slowly with therapy and support, but the road is rocky and she hasn’t taken to it well.

Hadie is a good match for her as he’s the perfect mix of protective, patient, sweet, and stubborn, unwilling to let Ariana shove him away with a few mean words. She can try to be tough all she wants, but Ariana’s almost all bark with no bite unless she’s actively being threatened and catches that fight or flight.

Törökország debütál a blogon ma, és hát ki mással tenné ezt, mint minden törökök atyjával a nagy Kemal Atatürkkel! Regnálása óta nem nagyon volt olyan év, hogy valamilyen bélyeg (vagy szerintem kb bármilyen) kiadvány ne készült volna vele. Jómagam nem jártam még Törökországban, de több barátom is mondta Isztambulban járva, hogy elképesztő az Atatürk kultusz amit áthatja a környezetet és a mindennapokat. Ez a 100 lírás példány (amúgy kettő, csak meg van hajtva) 1985-ből való, teljesen átlagos mindennapi bélyeg, 125 milliót nyomtak belőle, ahogy a sorozat másik két tagjából is. Ez a legmagasabb névértékű, tíz és húsz lírás készült még belőle, ugyanezen grafikával, csak eltérő színekben. A kisebbik kék, a középső pedig barnás színű. Ez a 100-as kicsit nagyobb értéket képvisel a másik kettőnél, olyan 100-200 forintért mennek, de postatiszta, új példányokért, akár 400 forintot is elkérhetnek. A hármas sorozatot tiszta állapotban, egyben 600-800 forintért vesztegetik.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk az Oszmán Birodalom Selanik nevű városában született 1881-ben. Rögtön ismerősebb lesz, ha azt mondom ez bizony nem más, mint a mai Szaloniki, Görögországban. Öten voltak testvérek, de a felnőttkort rajta kívül csak egyik nővére érte meg :( Anyja mélyen vallásos volt, így először vallási iskolába íratják, azonban már itt kitűnik büszkesége és öntudattosága, mely a merev szabályokkal szemben problémákat okoz, így apja kiveszi innen és Semsi Efendi iskolájába kerül át, ahol nyugati módszerekkel zajlik a tanítás. Itt is kilóg felnőttes viselkedése és persze metsző kék szeme és szőke haja okán, melyet szláv származású anyjától örökölt. Első traumájaként, édesapja hét éves korában eltávozik, mivel üzlete tönkrement és emiatt alkoholizmusra adta fejét, legyengült szervezetét pedig egy tűdőbaj legyűri. Anyjával vidékre költöznek, nagybátyja farmjára, itt megismeri a paraszti lét értékeit, tanulni azonban nem hajlandó az ottani vallási oktatóktól, így visszamegy Szalonikibe. 12 évesen eldönti, hogy a katonai pályát választja, az ehhez kapcsolódó iskolákban, mint matematikai, mind irodalmi tudásával kitűnik, emellett megtanul franciául. Matek tanárja adja neki a Kemal (tökéletes) nevet, mivel minden kérdésre tudta a választ, sőt őmaga hozott be matematikai problémákat. Francia tudásában is maximalista volt, így kezdte el tanulmányozni Voltaire, Montesquieu, Auguste Comte, Rousseau műveit, és ezáltal kezd el formálódni ellenérzése a vallásos fanatizmus ellen.

1899-ben az isztambuli hadi akadémia növendéke lesz, ahol más kadétokkal együtt gyakran tartanak retorikai vitákat, emellett éjszakánként tiltott, liberálisnak nyilvánított könyveket olvas titokban. 1905-ben végez vezérkari kapitányi rangban. Barátaival gyakran ülnek össze, megvitatni a tiltott művek tartalmát és a napi politikát, ezeken az alkalmakon már nyíltan kritizálják a szultáni politikát. Egyik társuk azonban besúgó volt, ezért néhány hónapra lecsukják őket legjobb barátjával Ali Fuaddal, majd pedig a szíriai Damaszkuszba küldik őket az Ötödik Hadsereghez.

Itt alapít meg egy titkos társaságot, Anyaföld és Szabadság néven, majd hazatértével az ifjútörök mozgalomhoz csatlakozik, mely 1908-ban forradalmat robbant ki. 1909-ben megpuccsolják II.Abdul-Hamid oszmán szultán, ekkor Atatürk már a csapatok élén vonul Isztambulba. Eztán Líbiába megy harcolni az olaszok ellen, itteni érdemeiért 1911-ben őrnaggyá léptetik elő. 1912-ben a Balkán-háborúban ő szervezi meg a Dardanellák védelmét, majd pedig Bulgária katonai attaséja lesz.

Az első világháborúban számtalan csatát vezet, a legkülönbözőbb frontokon, nevéhez fűződik az 1915-ös galipoli győzelem, mely megállította az antant erőket, de sikeres hadjáratokat vezetett a Kaukázusban az oroszok ellen, illetve a szíriai Aleppóban a britekkel szemben. Utóbbi csatákat 1917-ben már tábornoki rangban vívja meg. Kemal nem volt hajlandó elfogadni a háborút lezáró versailles-i béke tartalmát, amit a szultáni rezsim aláírt, minek keretében bizonyos területeket Görögország kapott meg, az Oszmán Birodalom felosztása után. Ankarában saját kormányt hoz létre, és egybekovácsolja a különböző török fegyveres csoportokat, miáltal két jelentős csatában legyőzik a görögöket 1921-22-ben, és többek között visszaszerzik Izmirt. A köztársaságot a görög-török háborúkat lezáró lausannei békét követően kiáltják ki 1923 október 29-én, első elnökének Musztafa Kemált választják.

Tizenöt évig tartó köztársasági elnöksége alatt, olyan meghatározó intézkedések kötődnek hozzá, mint rögtön az elején a kalifátus eltörlése, az ország drasztikus szekularizációja, az európai öltözék szorgalmazása. 1925. december 26-án átáll az ország a Gergely-naptárra, európai mintákra készül új Btk. és Ptk., mely többek közt azt is magával hozza, hogy a törvény előtt egyenlő bánásmódban részesül férfi és nő.

1928-ban bevezetik a latin ábécét, és egyfajta nyelvújítás is kezdetét veszi, mely során megtisztítják a török nyelvet, minden idegen eredetű - legfőképp arab és perzsa - szótól. Némi zűrzavar keletkezett ebből az első időkben, mert nem minden ilyen szónak volt akár 'őstörök' megfelelője, így az embereket arra hívták fel hogy maguk alkossanak új szavakat. Atatürk személyesen is járta az országot táblával és krétával, hogy népszerűsítse, az egyébként kötelezően elsajátítandó új írást.

1934-ben eltörlik a rangokat és címeket (pl. pasa, bej), és minden töröknek családnevet kellett választania. Musztafa Kemál ebben a 'keresztségben' kapja az Atatürk azaz 'minden törökök atyja' vezetéknevet. Emellett mezőgazdasági reformjai hatalmas gazdasági és ökolóigia fellendülést hoztak az országnak, ezért a 'török mezőgazdaság atyjaként' is hivatkoznak rá a mai napig.

1937-ben alkotmányba foglalják a kemalizmus hat alappillérét (a 'hat nyíl'), ezek a republikanizmus, popularizmus (osztályok tagadása, 'egy nép'), etatizmus, reformizmus, nacionalizmus, szekularizmus. Természetesen a gyors és agresszív ütemben történő átalakítások nem nyerték el mindenki tetszését, különösen az oszmán méltóságok és tisztek leszármazottait. 1926-ban fény derült egy pokolgépes merénylet tervére Kemál ellen, a letartóztatott vádlottak jelentős részét felakasztották, a kivégzések másnapján hangzottak el a híres mondatok Atatürktől:

„Én vagyok Törökország. Aki engem akar megsemmisíteni, az magát Törökországot akarja megsemmisíteni. (…) Népemet mindaddig kézen fogva vezetem, ameddig nem lesznek biztosak a léptei, és ameddig nem ismeri útját.”

1930-ban Musztafa Kemál megkérte jóbarátját Ali Fethit, hogy alapítson egy 'álellenzéki' pártot, a Szabad Köztársaság Pártot, hogy az elégedetlenkődet legyen hova becsatornázni. Ebből is eredtek aztán konfliktusok és ugyanebben az évben, komoly zavargás is kirobban Izmir mellett, melyben több katonát brutálisan megöltek, majd ennek megtorlására 27 embert kivégeztettek.

Magánélete is igen intenzív volt, imádta a nőket, és a rakit (török ánizspálinka). Évekig együttélt házasságon kívül egy Fikrije nevű lánnyal, akit aztán súlyos betegsége miatt Svájcba küldött egy szanatóriumba. 1923-ban feleségül vette Latife Ussakit, aki nehezen viselte férje italozó, kicsapongó életét, így 1925-ben elválnak. Gyermeke sosem született, de számtalan örökbefogadással büszkélkedhet, összesen hét lánya és két fia volt ily módon.

Kedvenc szórakozásai közé tartozott az úszás, lovaglás, a tánc és az olvasás. Imádott két állata volt Sakariya a ló, és Fox nevű kutyája. Folyékonyan beszélt franciául és németül, hatalmas magánkönyvtárat tartott fent.

1938 novemberében éri a halál, 57 évesen, egyik nagy szenvedélye okán, májbetegség viszi el. A számára épített monumentális Anitkabir mauzóleumban helyezik örök nyugalomra, Ankarában.
