something interesting i realized while on the vessel-making screen in the deltarune introduction is that it's physically impossible to make kris: there is no hair that perfectly matches theirs (none have the cowlick or the right jagged shape on the bottom), and there is no sweater that perfectly matches theirs (none have a single stripe). this is fascinating, as it perhaps suggest that, if we (the player) had a choice, we *wouldn't* make kris. they aren't something we want, or are even capable of wanting, rather something we're stuck with.

and i suppose the fact that they can't be *created* as a vessel is telling, because we didn't create kris -- they weren't made for us, they're not a player avatar. they're a pre-existing person we just happen to gain possession of.

we weren't made for each other; they don't want us, and we don't seem to want them either (if the inability to choose to create someone like them says anything); funny, then, that in a way we're "soulmates"...

the cello fits Vincent so well when i think about it. It parallels him in a way i don’t think i can quite fully convey outside my mind but ill try anyway

it’s deep resonant tone, the way it can sound charming and smooth one minute to sweet and tentative the next, then abrasive and downright intimidating seconds after. it’s so in tune with him. Generally it’s one of the string instruments i adore most because of its versatility, you can convey so many emotions through it because the instrument has the widest and most versatile range of any with 4 octaves.

And i feel like that is an amazing foil for Vincent’s character, that deep tone filled with so many shifts and layers that will skew your emotions this way and that is so akin to a person who maintains a stationary level of perceived impassiveness with so much complexity intertwined within motives and emotions hidden underneath. Both carry a sense of never ending surprise because you genuinely don’t know what you’re going to get next, which leads to such a fun viewing experience

as i have yet to arrange my carrd, i thought i might delve a little into my primary arc, which will follow coriolanus into the beginnings of his political career and into his presidential campaign, the reconstruction of panem into a complete autocracy with the elimination of all political opposition, as well as the gradual development of the hunger games as entertainment. most prominent is the theme of utter moral decay that underlies his entire character, as he cuts off any potential for humanity within himself as he hoards more & more power. i want to explore him continuously choosing himself over others, over the country's welfare. the extent of the distance he sets up between himself and the rest of society; since boyhood, he believes he is superior to his classmates, then thinks he is better-suited than the other politicians, until eventually, there are no more stepping-stones.

the gist of the arc is this: after tbosas, snow interns with dr gaul at the university, before being promoted to head gamemaker following his graduation, during which time he launched countless initiatives to improve the workings of the games, from establishing the career institutions in districts 1/2/4, to integrating stylists & interviews, among other things, to engage the capitol audience. through this position, he further integrates himself into the high society of panem, amassing support for his agenda, which propels his eventual presidential campaign. he is favoured among the capitol, especially within the old noble families, for his creative ideas and promises of a booming economy. not wanting to take any risks, and with a paranoia more rampant than ever, he swiftly deals with his opposition through poison. a poison that leaves him with ailments, too, to alleviate suspicions. he takes over, and over the course of decades, gradually dismantles any and all avenues of a democratic system. suppression of the districts comes as a result of the restoration of the capitol to its full glory, with higher taxes & quotas. any doubts & qualms he debates with himself, which are present, especially during the early years, are ultimately rationalized as he covets control & hoards it.

Alright, I'm ready to dig in and harvest swaths of story as Devinder in Redfall! I've set up a tasty splash of O-Negative (with a pinch of hibiscus for color) from Friday Tea, in a splendid mug (that definitely wasn't an Angler) from Tony Furtado!

(Pay no mind to the rest—Miss Whisper just hits all my aesthetics. Cool keys, antlered branches, skinless muscles, and spare eyeball gifts. Who wouldn't swoon?)

Also, I'm a packrat, but I wonder if Redfall will get me to internalize the barter-currency ("support") enough to actually WANT to give NPCs the "supplies" I've found, instead of saving up (and never spending it).

Either way, I'm running face-first into all the safehouse whiteboards to read all their notes! Look at how great the color-coded post-it conversations from the heroes are!

I want to preface this by saying that I don’t like calling people annoying. I find that word is most often used to belittle and bully neurodivergent people and I don’t like it. So I’m not going to say the person is annoying but I will say that *I* was annoyed by this so I blocked them. I even made a post about it because it happened twice and I wanted to just put it out there that I didn’t like it and I’ll start blocking people that do it.

I was tagged and performatively thanked for participating in a fandom even though that person never interacted with my posts ever. I was also getting very tired of being tagged by people who never talked to me and only seemed to tag me in a weird way that felt like clout chasing (on tumblr of all places and using me of all people). It felt like people forgot that I am a person behind the url and that they can talk to me about what I’m personally comfortable with before just deciding for me. I could really go into this a whole lot more but I’ll spare y’all the long essay. This is long enough already and I still have two questions to go.

Sing your love. I hate it. This might be surprising to people who know how much I like music but I despise this trope. I always get secondhand embarrassment from it and I feel awkward. The amount of fast forwarding I do when someone whips out a guitar. Very, very, very few actors can pull off this trope and make it enjoyable and yet it keeps appearing in shows. I hate it here.
