[redacted] will fix my pc… found a solo practicing wizard who does sign-your-kid-up buildalongs etc, and who took a chance on fitting me in when it was heard it booted to BIOS one time. Ideally for 1/10th the upgrade price it will be not MY problem to escalate to removing and replacing the CMOS battery or reseating the aio with a torque driver or whatever the hell else is left.
I just don’t have a clear workspace to do any proper testing. I can shift ram around. The wizard predicts I will either have a working computer returned from computer daycare, or be rma’ing a part or two. I hope to my toes I am going to be easy money. -_-

a little while ago i dropped a pc build here. here's a revised version thats better (and i think cheaper)
Here's why I made big changes:
A. NVidia is evil B. Corsair lied to me but I've accounted for that now C. Hard drives are unneccesary if you have decent flash drives D. pretty :)
it doesn't fill out all the motherboard slots, so there's room for future improvement. AMD has also anounced that ZEN5 (coming 2025) will still use the AM5 socket, so that's covered aswell

ASRock Launches DeskMini & DeskMeet X600 PCs
Tumblr media
The DeskMini & DeskMeet X600 PCs from ASRock, which are compatible with AMD Ryzen 8000G Desktop APUs, have finally been released.
Ready AMD Ryzen 8000G APU ASRock DeskMini and DeskMeet X600 Computers Featuring X600 Motherboards Released
Since Computex last year, we have been waiting to see the ASRock DeskMeet & DeskMini X600 series in action, and now that time is almost here. The company has revealed the two PCs that, depending on your preference, will come with AMD’s Ryzen 8000G APUs or the standard Ryzen 7000 CPUs. In terms of power and cooling capacity, these Mini PCs start with the 65W series.
What can we anticipate from the updated lineup? The newest X600 PCH-less motherboards, which are intended to make use of the onboard CPU I/O capabilities to power the connectivity needs such as USB, PCIe, memory, etc., will be available in the ASRock DeskMeet and DeskMini X600 series. The AMD Ryzen 7000 Embedded CPU lineup and the X600 PCH activator can be used to accomplish this. The boards will be available in mATX and Mini-ITX configurations, featuring the AMD AM5 socket and supporting up to four DDR5 slots for a maximum capacity of 256 GB. The boards will also support M.2 Gen5 SSDs, but PCIe 4.0 is the maximum discrete graphics capability available.
If there is enough room inside the chassis, you can still use these to power up an NVIDIA RTX 4090 graphics card. However, you would need to retrofit the PC with your own SFX power supply because the 500W ATX unit that comes with these PCs shouldn’t be sufficient for that use. This is why there are versions of these that are pre-equipped and barebones. Additional features include two SATA ports and support for 2.5 GbE LAN, providing you with enough I/O for standard office and gaming tasks.
Among the many exciting features of the DeskMeet X600 series are four DDR5 memory modules up to 256GB, PCIe 5.0 technology for M.2 SSD, and Dragon 2.5G Ethernet. Additionally, the 500W ATX Power supply’s fan has been tuned for better and more efficient thermal performance. The DeskMeet X600 series is the ideal option for constructing a potent but reasonably priced content creation and AI system because it supports PCIe 4.0 graphics cards.
The first AMD AM5 Mini STX Platform in the world is the DeskMini X600 series. It offers two DDR5 SO-DIMMs and an AMD AM5 65W CPU, providing exceptional processing and graphics performance. For maximum expandability and functionality in a small package, the DeskMini X600 series includes two SATA ports, two M.2 slots with blazing M.2 Gen5 SSD, super-fast 2.5G LAN, and three video outputs.
The DeskMeet and DeskMini X600 series benefit greatly from support for AMD Ryzen 8000G APUs because you can use the integrated RDNA 3 GPU, which is still more than capable of handling productivity and content creation tasks, instead of worrying about discrete graphics cards. The final costs of these PCs have not yet been disclosed by ASRock.

me when I recognise the differences between the cpu pins
Top one is AM4 socket, likely either a Ryzen 3000 or Ryzen 5000
Bottom one I can't tell. I can tell AM4 apart because it's the only widespread PGA (Pin Grid Arrary, when the pins are on the cpu) socket, but the bottom one is LGA (Land Grid Array, when the pins are on the motherboard).
From the squareness of it, I feel comfortable ruling out Intel's LGA1700 right away. After more research, Intel doesn't have ANY sockets that are square, LGA, and don't have conductors on the cpu (the little funny things in the middle of the first image).
This makes the second chip Socket AM5 by elimination, most likely a Ryzen 7000 chip, but also possibly a Ryzen 8000 APU.

CORSAIR NAUTILUS RS, NAUTILUS RS ARGB Liquid Coolers
Tumblr media
High-performance liquid CPU coolers with broad compatibility, the NAUTILUS RS and NAUTILUS RS ARGB Series, are now available from Corsair with or without lighting.
CORSAIR announces the release of their liquid CPU coolers, the CORSAIR NAUTILUS RS and NAUTILUS RS ARGB families. These cutting-edge coolers provide excellent compatibility with contemporary CPU sockets, simple installation, and high-performance CPU cooling. While the NAUTILUS RS ARGB comes in black and white in the same sizes, with the addition of ARGB lighting to improve your setup, the NAUTILUS RS family comes in black in both 240mm and 360mm diameters.
Use a new Cold Plate To Get Cooler
In order to improve contact with the processor’s inbuilt heat spreader and provide improved thermal transfer, the NAUTILUS RS series has an effective, low-noise pump and a slightly convex cold plate that has been pre-applied with thermal paste in an optimal pattern. With its RS120 fans and 240mm or 360mm radiator diameters, NAUTILUS RS coolers efficiently maintain the ideal temperatures for top-tier CPUs.
RS Fans-With or Without The Lights
Strong airflow at PWM-controlled speeds up to 2,100 RPM is provided by the black CORSAIR RS120 fans that come with NAUTILUS RS coolers. The NAUTILUS RS ARGB models include eight RGB LEDs per fan and ARGB connectors. These fans may be daisy-chained together to simplify wiring and facilitate installation. Connect one fan to the next with ease, then control the speed and lights using a single 4-pin PWM connector and a single 4-pin ARGB header on your motherboard.
The CORSAIR AirGuide technology and magnetic dome bearings improve the RS120 fans’ directed airflow cooling performance and very low noise levels. These fans are designed for radiator application.
Activated Dark Mode
Not everyone is a fan of RGB lighting. The black-on-black design of the NAUTILUS RS could be the ideal choice for a stealth build since sometimes all you want is something powerful and quiet. Even the mounting hardware has a dark, covert finish instead of brilliant chrome or nickel-plated metal.

AMD Introduces Ryzen 9 5900XT and Ryzen 7 5800XT Processors at Computex 2024
Tumblr media
AMD has once again taken the tech world by storm at Computex 2024, revealing the much-anticipated Ryzen 9 5900XT and Ryzen 7 5800XT processors. These new additions to the Ryzen lineup are set to provide an exciting update to the AM4 socket, continuing AMD's legacy of innovation and performance in the CPU market.
But what makes these new processors stand out, and why should you care? Let's dive into the details.
A New Era for AM4: Ryzen 9 5900XT and Ryzen 7 5800XT
At Computex, AMD showcased not only the new AM5 Ryzen 9000 series but also the latest updates for the old-gen AM4 socket with the Ryzen 5000XT models. This dual announcement strategy underscores AMD's commitment to supporting a wide range of users, from those looking for the cutting-edge to those who are upgrading existing systems.
The Ryzen 5000XT series wasn't a complete surprise. Back in March, AMD hinted at this release during a special event in China. Although the specifics were kept under wraps, the anticipation was palpable among tech enthusiasts.
The Specs: What You Need to Know
During the pre-Computex briefing, AMD detailed two new SKUs:
Ryzen 9 5900XT: Featuring 16 cores, this processor boasts clock speeds up to 4.8 GHz. With a 105W TDP, it's built on the Zen 3 architecture, using Vermeer silicon.
Ryzen 7 5800XT: This 8-core processor also reaches clock speeds up to 4.8 GHz, sharing the same 105W TDP and Zen 3 architecture.

The 5800XT, on the other hand, claims the highest clock speed of any AM4 8-core CPU, maxing out at 4.8 GHz.
