I think it was a good thing that I stuck around a support server, even with me, not talking most of the time I'm there.
It really gives comfort while my issues are coming back full force once more.
#I don't talk about might having a personality disorder much#because I flip flop around on if I have it or not because of my belief in me having some degree of autism#which can exhibit similar to same symptoms#I haven't gone anywhere to officially diagnose nor will I even because of stigma and being treated differently in doing so.#it sucks but it's how it is#I keep it mainly undefiled but it's mostly likely bpd if it's true be it fits the bill the most#i'm sorry for rambling#just want to let it all out#mental illness#life#lev.txt

This and the internalized religious stigma instilled in me regarding suicide kept me going when I was a teen with depression
Jewish culture is staying alive out of spite
#tw suicide mention#Back when I was depressed the two things that kept me from being more suicidal was my internal stigma#and suicidal thoughts always being told it was a sin#and knowing that I live despite so many people trying to prevent that.#So I began saying modah ani every morning and anytime I I thought to myself I want to die#and also thinking fuck you nazis I am alive!#i wasn't even raised religious but i still had those beliefs#honestly that part of my life brought me closer to the religious aspects of judaism though#i grew up the the stereotypical only jewish at Christmas kind of jew basically doing hanukkah and rosh hashanah#but i remember being very young and thinking i could have been killed for this and feeling a sense of sadness but also pride#we have outlived all that try to harm us#both my jewish and polish backgrounds both gave me a sense of fuck you im going to be polish and jewish out of spite and im going to turn#up my polishness and jewishness up to eleven because fuck you

It's almost like many, many societies and systems are built on bigotry. Who could've guessed.

đ¸Uranus through the houses: what generational curse you are here to break
hey y'all, back with another post. I hope you are doing well :) been very very long since I made a post haha. This post may be rather short? Idk how long it'd be tbh, let's get into it now!
Paid readings open
Support me on ko-fi
đ¸Uranus in 1st: to break the stigma around being yourself, your "real" self, doing you, what you really want and going against the wind because that is your purpose and calling. Finding yourself, and not hiding it away. Doing everything you desire to, not confronting to societal or traditional norms, being the one of heart
đ¸Uranus in 2nd: Speaking up, showing what respect is supposed to mean for one self, initiating the concept of self respect and personal boundaries, re-inventing the relationship with money, material things and desires.
đ¸Uranus in 3rd: Big thoughts, innovative thinking. Thinking in a broad manner, against the current circumstances or conditioning. Big dreamers for a reason. Usually either extremely strong or extremely weak relationship with siblings for whatever the reason. New, big ideologies. Breaking the generational thinking patterns.
đ¸Uranus in 4th: Someone who would follow their heart. Choosing their chosen family, prioritizing the family they created. Following the spirit of their soul and mind. Bringing reforms in the whole family, changing the family dynamics from their generation and lineage, reforming traditional dogmas and orthodoxes running in the family through generations.
đ¸Uranus in 5th: Taking pleasures of life seriously. Being more attuned to your inner voice if it signals you to follow your dreams, hobbies and passions. Leaving this "work until you die" kind of mentality and actually indulging in things you like, following your heart, the rhythm of your soul. Full of creative energy.
đ¸Uranus in 6th: Breaking monotony in life, breaking this idea and pattern of stability, security, and predictability in life. Leaving behind the idea of, "tunnel vision", basically. May despise following routines, structures, traditions in life. Usually have spontaneous bursts of energy instead of being consistent per se, usually the "turbulent" types.
đ¸Uranus in 7th: for this placement, I feel their spouse or partner would heal patterns more than them. I mean both of you together would change things together, but they would more likely lead or initiate this revolution. Your family may have hard time settling with them, but eventually all would be good.
đ¸Uranus in 8th: The way the shadow side of life is treated or talked about. Maybe you grew up in a family where darker things like, death, or other taboo topics were not discussed. This is true for a majority of people who do not have this placement as well, but you would be the one who may introduce them to such ideas and may be in charge of making them comfortable embracing their own shadows, and so you may often experience projection from your family often, because you're triggering their shadows.
đ¸Uranus in 9th: Someone who would not accept things taught to them for no reason, without explanation. Other placement that speaks in terms of genetic unwinding. You would change the way upcoming generation thinks. You may question religion, traditions, beliefs a lot, not to ridicule them, but to find their relevance in the current world. Expanding the tunnel vision, the view of the world. You may adapt a different culture or a philosophy than the one you're born with and challenge the idea of unknown and foreign in your family.
đ¸Uranus in 10th: This stigma attached to people and society and the world. "what would they say" "what would they think" and you may most probably set out to do things no one in your lineage could think of doing, especially in terms of jobs and career, creating something new altogether. You may be seen as eccentric by others for that, but more you grow in this energy, more you would heal this idea of following the crowd for people who are lost themselves.
đ¸Uranus in 11th: This again for people who have the wildest dreams and do not care about being a part of the social community or to conform to it in any way. You are very very likely to have high spirits, and follow your higher purpose, your dreams. More of a rebel kind of placement, you do not care if your dreams or ambitions are different than the one imposed or planned for you. You would break this programming of needing to be a certain way, a certain success recipe, a certain dream, in your lineage.
đ¸Uranus in 12th: More of a visionary kind of placement. Someone who does not conform to immediate ideas and tunnel visions. Someone who's thoughts and ideas would not make sense currently but would be the future. You are here to heal subconscious programming, limiting beliefs, thoughts, and opinions of your lineage. The deepest of all the above placement and very transformative. You yourself may have experienced unexpected changes and events in life, that shake you right from the bottom until a steady foundation is built, and you are meant to transmute this same lessons and light to your lineage.
until the next time
ps: i love you
xoxo

Astrology Observations pt. I
6th house synastry / mom or child being a Virgo somewhere in the personal planets & the way it is a frequent pattern of emotionally incestuous dynamics or some form of emotional grooming is involved with the mother. Whether it be Conscious or unconscious. Mother's either suffer from Narcissism, BPD, or have some form of substantial trauma and utilize the child like a crutch unintentionally. Ofc this won't apply to everyone but...it's a pretty substantial pattern I've noticed
Jupiter conjunct mercury & Pisces / Sag Mercury people will literally talk just to talk, yappers fr. Also can be a bit stubborn sometimes about what they believe in, very much the type of person who can be very defensive of their beliefs at times. Alice in wonderland vibes LOL.
Taurus usually holds longer grudges than Scorpio, I've noted it's often because Taurus tend to have a more entitled attitude.
Moon - square/conj Uranus people đ¤ constant anxiety
On a another note đŞâ¨
Mercury in the 6th house natives are instant manifestors same goes for mercury in Virgo
I've noticed it with Pisces and sag mercury too
Very powerful words very powerful minds
People with mercury in 6th house I've noticed have an uncanny ability to alter their environment off the strength of their thoughts and words it's like they just constantly spark their thoughts into reality and have the capability to intuitively know what needs to be done in order to follow through on their desires and manifestations
The definition of sitting pretty & waiting for their manifestations to blossom in their favor
On the other hand
Gemini is underrated in its ability to really understand & empathize w/ others
People are so used to the stigma of Gemini being very two faced and disloyal but mature Geminis are some of the most loyal people you'll meet
That applies to any air sign
If they truly fuck with you you're locked in
I think the biggest issue with Gemini is that they tend to feel trapped in social obligation & struggle with people pleasing so they end up basically doing really passive manipulative shit to disengage themselves from situations but also can't help but stir the pot
HOWEVER, let's be honest đ Gemini usually stirs the pot when it's some shit that's questionable occuring that really should be acknowledged and reflected upon
I've noticed a lot of mature Geminis also just genuinely do NOT like people and don't want to be around them they really enjoy their solitude & peace đ¤ˇđťââď¸

itâs disability pride month so i want to talk about one of my least favorite stigmas around celiac disease
in lots of media, being gluten free is played as a joke or something someone is to be annoying/pretentious. the amount of times iâve heard jokes like that is honestly disheartening.
it also doesnât help with the general populationâs belief that celiac disease/gluten sensitivities are not serious. iâve been diagnosed with celiac disease for 3 years now, iâve been gluten free for about 4, and it has substantially improved my quality of life. i canât afford risking cross-contamination because it leaves me sick for days. nearly every time i have a reaction to gluten, itâs hard for me to even drink water the next day because my body is an absolute mess. iâm miserable and fatigued for days until my body heals. not to mention the long term effects that have left me unable to stand/walk around for extended periods of time because my joints are pretty weak.
being gluten free NEEDS to be taken seriously. itâs not a choice iâve made because iâm hoping on the latest fad, its not a preference, itâs an autoimmune disorder.
#tldr iâm sick of gluten free jokes made by people who arenât gluten free#celiac disease#gluten free#disability pride month#invisible disability

one of the main failings of the disease model of addiction is that it doesn't actually say that drug use or alcohol use is morally neutral. it says that people who do them cannot help themselves; it's not "their fault".
which still maintains the belief that drug/alcohol use are, fundamentally, Bad, just some people have Diseases which Force Them To Do Bad Things. it actually fits very neatly within reactionary + puritanical beliefs about drug/alcohol use + the benefits it has for reducing stigma/violence against ppl who use drugs (which it has evidently done, to some extent!) are limited by this

I understand the concern but osteopath or a D.O.s ARE fully licensed and trained medical professionals. To be licensed they must go through the same criteria and must meet the same standards for practicing medicine. They are given the same training as M.D.s just with the additional osteopathic medical courses. They are absolutely fine to go to for other concerns as they are trained doctors and there is no pronounced difference between DOs and MDs in their care & cost.
Periodic reminder that you should never trust a chiropractor with your body under any circumstances
#They also didnât mention that the dude who is claimed to be the founder chiropracty above is actually the founder of osteopathy.#chiropracty has existed long before him#the reason he developed his theory of âif you move thing to the right spot in the body you can cure anythingâ#is because at the time medical doctors were feeding people arsenic. opium. mercury. etc. and most of the time made things much worse#so he went âI want to make things betterâ and made his own theory of medicine.#and itâs DEVELOPED SINCE THEN! ITS NO LONGER THE SAME THING NOR DO PRACTICIONERS HOLD THE SAME BELIEFS#the practices of doctors and osteopathic practitioners were initially separate but are for the majority one & the same with one#who is medically able to do a massage and chiropractic help when it is genuinely necessary#it helps that osteopathic practitioners modern day unlike chiropractors they actually are taught about the potential dangers and issues that#can arise using osteopathic treatment. if you have an issue for bones#osteopathy isnât for you. but if you have an issue with muscles tendons or nerves then they can help a lot#good part of their practice is essentially occupational therapy. using different instruments to help with movement and to ease pain#osteopaths often get a bad name but theyâre medical practitioners too that are fully liscenced but the stigma against them can often be very#harmful to them as people think DOs are lesser to MDs in training.#oftentimes when people think they need to go to a chiropractor they need physical therapy.#itâs like saying that bc it was thought Chinese cupping therapy could cure every disease if you put it on the right spot#and just because that is known to be false now that it absolutely has zero value in medical practice. it draws blood from deep in the tissue#and brings it up through the muscles and it helps in a variety of treatments for various tendon muscle and nerve disorders#chiropracty is bs as said before bc itâs cheap and done by a NON LISCENCED PRACTITIONER WHO CLAIMS THEY CAN TREAT EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING#osteopathy on the other hand has a genuine place in medical practice for physical and occupational therapy#Billy talks in the tags#Billy talks about medicine

what actually are endogenic systems?
⢠Endogenic is an umbrella term that refers to all systems that are not completely traumagenic in origin.
Why are some people claiming to be endo?
⢠people claiming to be endogenic systems may:
⢠be misdiagnosed, they may not have DID/OSDD and may have a different disorder.
⢠may not have researched. Which is not a excuse. You cannot claim to have any disorder without any level of research.
⢠they may be a traumatic system in denial of there trauma.
⢠singlets with fractitious disorders [Factitious disorders are conditions in which a person deliberately and consciously acts as if they have a physical or mental illness when they are not really sick.]
â˘singlets misidentifying normal experiences
⢠singlets who enjoy "being a system" finding it fun etc
Why can't endos exist?
⢠as previously stated. DID/OSDD is a TRAUMA RESPONSE DISORDER. you cannot have it without trauma literally.
⢠OSDD/DID occurs because of childhood trauma between the ages 4-9 (commonly). Because extreme trauma happens when the majority of your "personality" is formed by then. the trauma interferes with your personality development, causing the formation of other alters to help cope with that trauma / deal with the brunt of the trauma and survive day to day life.
⢠OCDD/DIDs can only be formed through trauma.
Why are endos so harmful?
⢠they spread very harmful misinformation. (Even the idea of being endogenic, forming without trauma)
they spread dangerous misinformation and stigma (demonising roles (persecutors for example)) impossible beliefs (alter death, sys hopping etc)There growing presence in general on many platforms
⢠endos trying to say that they have any experience to anything close to the serious trauma that causes DID/ OSDD is so so harmful to actual DID/ OSDD have had to live through and survive.
⢠WE ARE ALREADY STIGMATISED AND DEMONSIED IN ALL SORTS OF MEDIA AS IS.
⢠IT IS SO HARMFUL AND HURTFUL TO SYSTEMS WHO HAVE ACTUALLY SURVIVED AND BEEN THROUGH THE HORRORS AND TRAUMA THAT CAUSES DID/OSDD - OUR TRAUMAS ARE NOT BADGES FOR YOU TO WEAR.

10 More Character Types the World Needs More of
Part 1 was specifically character dynamics, but Iâm considering this a sequel anyway.
1. Fiercely independent characterâs lesson isnât to âtrust peopleâ
Iâm not projecting. Youâre projecting. There is a divide wide enough to fit the Grand Canyon between âtrusting that someone isnât lyingâ and âtrusting someone to follow through on a promiseâ. Most dumpster fire attempts at these characters (almost exclusively women) rely solely on mocking them for the former because ânot all menâ or something.
Being consistently let down in life makes you hesitant to a) gain friends, b) pursue romantic interests, c) maintain familial relationships, d) get excited about any event that demands participation from someone who isnât you. None of this is simply a bad attitudeâitâs a trauma response. There is no lesson to be learned, and not even exposure therapy can help because itâs a real, legitimate, and common stunt people pull, whether they mean it or not.
So write one of these characters and legitimize their fears, give them someone who proves the exception to the rule, but do not let the lesson be âwell they just havenât found the right person yetâ. Even the âright personâ can let them down. It's about not becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy by sabotaging a good thing to prove it will inevitably go bad.
2. Conventionally attractive men who arenât horndogs
Iâm going to find every way I can to tell you to write more aces. This is to fight the stigma that attractive people must be attracted to people. Give me gorgeous aces and demiâs, men, women, enbys and everyone in between, who put a crap ton of effort into looking their best, and yet happen to not have a very loud libido. They look good for themselves, and not to impress anyone else.
Give me someone who could have anyone they wanted, gender regardless, and just simply has no interest. Or, they do actually have a significant other, but sex, how hot their partner is, or how horny they are, isnât their internal monologue. I donât even care if itâs unrealistic, itâs annoying to read.
And, you know, giving men male characters who arenât thinking about sex all the time can be good, right? Right?
3. Manly warrior men who also write poetry
A.K.A Aragorn, Son of Arathorn. Just give me more Aragorns, period. This dude is either covered in filth, blood, guts, and the last 30 miles of rugged terrain, or singing in Elvish at his own coronation while pink flower petals fall. A man can be both, and still be straight.
A man can also drink Respect Women juice, you know? He ticks off all the boxesâheâs gentle when he needs to be, not afraid to hide his emotions, kind to those who are vulnerable and afraid and need a strong figure to look up to, resolute in his beliefs, skilled and knowledgeable in his abilities without being arrogant or smug, and the first boots on the battlefield, leading from the front.
4. Characters who are characters when no one is watching
This is less a specific type and more a scene that doesnât get written enough. This whole point comes from Pixarâs Cars. I. Love. This. Movie. Itâs not Pixarâs best, for sure, but this is my comfort movie. The best scene, one thatâs so unique, is when Doc (aged living legend) thinks heâs alone when he rolls out onto the dirt race track and comes alive tearing around the oval.
This characterâs unbridled, unabashed glee and euphoria at proving to himself that heâs still got it, when heâs completely unaware of his audience, is perfection. Not enough credence is given to characters to just⌠enjoy being themselves. Heâs not doing it to prepare for the climactic race, heâs not doing it for the plot, heâs doing it just to do it, not even to prove Lightning wrongâjust for himself.
Give your characters a âDoc Racingâ scene. Whatever their skill is. Maybe theyâre a dancer, a skater, a swimmer, a painter, sprinter. Just let your character love being alive.
5. Characters whose neurodivergence isn't âcuteâ
A.K.A. Lilo Pelekai from Lilo and Stitch. Really, her relationship with Nani is peak sibling writing. But Lilo herself is just so realistic with how she interacts with the world, how she interprets her relationships with her so-called friends, how she organizes her thoughts and rationalizes what she canât quite understand, and how friggen smart she is for an⌠11-year-old?
But sheâs not âcuteâ. As in, she wasnât written by generic Suits who were trying to cash in on the ND crowd by writing what they think will sell, but also making her juuust neurotypical enough to still be palatable by the rest of the audience. Liloâs earnestness is what endears her to everybody. But also, she doesnât get a free pass for her behavior, either. Her âfriendsâ arenât forced to accommodate her and Nani isnât written as the cold-hearted villain for trying to discipline her.
6. Straight male characters with female friends
Am I double-dipping a bit here? Yes. While I completely understand how tempting it can be, this type of character is in dire need of exposure and representation to prove itâs possible. No weird tense moments, no double-glances when she isnât looking, no contemplations about cheating on his girlfriend (and no insecure jealous girlfriend either). Just two characters who enjoy each otherâs company and are able to coexist in a space and be in each otherâs spaces without hormones getting in the way. Peak example? Po and Tigress from Kung Fu Panda.
Let these two rely on each other for emotional strength in times of need, let them share inside jokes, let them have a night alone together at a bar, at home, cooking dinner, getting takeout, talking on the patio in a porch swing⌠with zero âwill they/wonât they.â
7. The likable bigot
Iâm actually on the fence with this one but itâs something I also donât see done often enough and Iâm adding it for one reason: Bigots arenât always obvious mustache-twirling villains and the little things they do might seem inconsequential to them, but are still hurtful. So showing these characters is like plopping a mirror down in front of these people and, I donât know, maybe something will click. They donât have to be MAGAs to be dangerous, and only writing the extremes convinces the moderates that they arenât also the problem.
Example: I have a âfriendâ who recently said something along the lines of âI have lots of gay friendsâ followed up shortly by âI donât think this country should keep gay marriage because itâs a slippery slope to legalizing pedophilia.â You know. The quiet part being that she *actually* thinks being gay is as morally abhorrent as being a pedo. But she totally has lots of gay friends. Including one who was driving her during that conversation. (Itâs me. Hi. Iâm apparently the problem, itâs me.)
Sheâs absolutely homophobic, but the second she stops announcing it, sheâs a very bubbly person. Sheâs a ~likable~ bigot and thus thinks she can distance herself from the more violent ones.
8. The motherly single father
I say âmotherlyâ merely as shorthand for the vibe Iâm going for here. âMotherlyâ as in dads who arenât scandalized by the growing pains of their daughters, and who donât just parent their sons by saying âman up boys donât cryâ. Dads who play Barbie with their kids of either gender. Dads who go to the PTA meetings with all the other Karens and know as much if not more than they do about the school and their kidsâ education.
Dads who comfort their crying kids, especially their sons. Dads that take interest in âfeminineâ activities like learning how to braid their daughterâs hair, learning different makeup brands, going on nail salon trips together. Dads who do not pull out the rifle on their daughterâs new boyfriend and treat her like property. Dads who have guy friends that donât mock him and call him gay. Dad who does all this stuff anyway and is *actually* gay, too, but the emphasis is on overly sensitive straight menâs masculinity here.
Wholesome dads: a shocking amount of single-parents to female anime protagonists.
9. The parent isnât dead, theyâre just gone
Treasure Planet is an awesome movie in its own right, but whatâs even better? This is a Disney movie where the parent isnât dead, heâs just a deadbeat who abandoned his son and isnât at all relevant to the plot beyond the hole he left behind for Jim to fill. The only deadbeat dads Disney allows are villains and those guys are very vigorously chasing an aspiration, that aspiration just doesnât include quality fatherhood. Or motherhood. Disney has yet to write a deadbeat mom, Iâm almost certain.
I just wrote a post about the necessity of the âdead parentâ cliche, but what is perhaps more relatable because itâs more common, and what earns even more sympathy and underdog points for the protagonist? The hero with the parent who left. Then thereâs a whole extra layer of angst and trauma available when your hero can now plague themselves with the question of if the parent leaving is their fault. Death is usually an accident. Choosing to abandon your kid is on purpose.
10. Victim who isnât victim-blamed or told by their friends (and the narrative) to forgive their abuser
Izuku Midoriya lost so much support from me the moment he told his friend, bearing the consequences of domestic violence across half his face, that Midoriya thinks heâll be ready soon to forgive his abomination of a father. I am firmly in the âEndeavor is a despicable human and heroâ camp and no Iâm not taking criticism. I audibly gasped when I heard this line and realized Deku was serious. Todoroki needs friends like the Gaang to remind him that he's allowed to hate the man who's actions caused the burn scar across his f*cking face.
I understand that the mangaka apparently didnât anticipate the vitriolic backlash toward Endeavor during his debut and reveal of his parenting tactics but the tone-deafness of telling a fifteen year old with crippling emotional management issues and a horrible home life that his abusive dad in any way deserves and is entitled to forgiveness on the grounds of being related is disgusting.
Take it back further to a more famous Tumblr dad: John Winchester. Another despicable human who got retroactively forgiven by his sons after his death in a âhe wasnât so bad, he really did tryâ campaign. Itâs one thing if the character believes it, itâs a whole different matter if the narrative is also pushing this message.
Katara is a perfect example: She lets go of her grudge for her own peace of mind and stops blaming Zuko for something he had no hand in, stops blaming him simply because heâs a firebender and heâs around to be her punching bag. She doesnât forgive the man who killed her mother, because that man doesnât deserve her forgiveness. Katara heals in spite of him, not because of him, and had she let him off the hook, she would have gotten an apology for getting caught, not for what he did (which is exactly what happened).

It's trauma, yes, you're right, totally valid, there's tons to be said there, but Lloyd comes across as an old man, to me. He's like if a geezer was young and spry. Imagine your grandfather or great grandfather suddenly sitting up from his wheelchair and doing a backflip, that's my reaction whenever I see Lloyd contradicting his own worldview
The way Lloyd talks reminds me of a stereotypical Asian grandfather. Going on about working hard and being self sufficient to maintain your own pride and dignity. Sure he's got a point about how your self respect can tank if you rely on other people too much, but does he ever take time to consider why relying on others is an act that makes one lose face? He preaches old fashioned ideals but at the same time his actions are filled with compassion and respect for other people. When someone needs help he not only extends aid but also opens up new opportunities for them to better their position, because he believes it's natural for humans to want to work hard to better their lives
Lloyd, currently wrapping people in blankets, feeding them, and teaching them how to fish: the world is cold and unforgiving, no one will ever come for you in your time of need. The only way to secure your safety is by having money
#yes sure its trauma and you can sympathize with him for that#but this is old man trauma#like feeling sorry for your grandpa that he had to go through all that and understanding what the world was like to shape him that way#but still feeling frustrated that through all his years he never got the chance to confront those stigmas and internalize a kinder worldview#when your grandpa still holds rigid beliefs like that you cant just say 'get with the times gramps!' you gotta just listen to him rant#while you do good things together#likewise the people in this story who owe their lives to lloyd can only show through their actions and earnestness that they will have#lloyd's back no matter what. he wont believe them but they can still show up for him time and time again

Most of us begin the Autism unmasking process looking for greater self-acceptance, but donât realize what a messy, uncertain, weakened, traumatized, resentful version of ourselves weâre going to have to accept. Secretly, we hope that the unmasked version of us will be just as capable and comfortable as we always pretended to beâââbut also much happier, and more authentic.Â
The great challenge of unmasking, then, is letting go of all pre-conceived notions of the type of person we must be, so that we can simply exist in the moment, feeling whatever we feel and needing whatever we need.Â
It can take many years for a person to reach this point. Iâve also noticed there are common phases that Autistics move through as we go about unmaskingâââperiods of questioning, self-loathing, anger, withdrawal, exploration, relief, and obsessive self-consciousness, just to name a few.Â
Not all of these phases appear for everyone, of course and they do not necessarily come in a specific order. Rather than viewing them as stages that progress in a linear fashion, we can see them instead as common psychological defenses that emerge when a person is having a hard time reconciling their disability with their beliefs about who they should be.Â
Important internal work is happening when a person seems to be âcaughtâ in any particular phase. Some phases are needed corrections for societyâs anti-disability stigmaâââsuch as the phase where a person believes that Autism makes them inherently superior to allistics. Others are corrections for those corrections, a hypothesis and antithesis that gradually resolve into a synthesis within the disabled personâs life.Â
These phases donât last forever, and we learn something important each time that we pass through them. Like the phases of the moon, these phases may recur in our lives in an almost cyclical fashion, bringing us closer to accepting the truth of ourselves each time. Remember as you read through this list of phases that arriving at a final state of ârecoveryâ is not the goal. When we unmask, weâre not trying to get rid of our disability, after allâââweâre just hoping to understand and accept all that is inside us a bit better.Â
And so, to help you prepare for your unmasking journey, here are some of the common phases of unmasking:Â
QuestioningÂ
Itâs incredibly common for a masked Autistic person to spend months or even years questioning whether they actually are disabled, or have the ârightâ to openly identify as such. Even after a person has researched Autism at length, sought external input from loved ones and a therapist, and integrated themselves deeply within the neurodivergent community, they may be struck with regular bouts of uncertainty.Â
We can blame this on a society that investigates every single claim of disability repeatedly for evidence of fraud, and a culture where disabled people are accused of being delusional, manipulative attention-seekers.Â
Obsessing (About Autism)
One way that questioning Autistics try to resolve their uncertainty is by consuming every piece of information and commentary about Autism that they could possibly find. Autism often becomes one of our special interests, early in our unmaskingâââmaking us see Autism between the pages of every book, and on the confused face of every stranger.Â
When a person is obsessing about Autism, they may reference their disability as an explanation for every single behavior they or anyone else ever exhibits. Tying your shoes in the âbunny-goes-round-the-treeâ style is an Autism thing. Liking the small spoon is an Autism thing. That rude comment I just made about your appearance is an Autism thing, and so you cannot criticize me for it, because thatâs a core part of my being I canât change. Every person in the obsessed Autistic personâs life may be assigned disability labels: heâs got ADHD, sheâs a PDAer, your dadâs undiagnosed Autism is the reason he stands in the middle of the room watching TV.Â
Obsessing (About the Self)
Unmasking requires a high degree of curiosity about the self. A person canât even notice thereâs a disjoint between their authentic feelings and how they present themselves to others unless they look within. Unfortunately, doing so means constantly asking ourselves whether our actions reflect our true selves, and what our âtrue selfâ even isâââand thinking too much about these questions can make the mind loop back on itself infinitely.Â
When I first started unmasking, I could not stop assessing how I carried my own body. I knew that my posture was âbad,â in neurotypical terms, but was that because I had muscle underdevelopment caused by Autism, or because I was always trying to make myself inobtrusive and small? Would it be âunmaskingâ for me to stand straight and claim more spaceâââor would that be me masking even worse, by imitating neurotypical confidence?Â
Autism SupremacyÂ
Though many unmasking Autistics experience a big drop in self-esteem, itâs equally as common for us to take immense pride in our neurotype, even to an excessive degree. During the Autism supremacy phase of unmasking, Autistic people may feel that their disability actually makes them more moral, logical, emotionally attuned, intelligent, or compassionate than others.Â
âAutistic people do have empathy! In fact, we have more empathy than anyone else!â You may hear an Autism supremacist declare proudly, pushing back against the stereotype of us as âanti-socialâ monsters. But the argument that some of us actually experience hyper-empathy, while true, does nothing to challenge the ableism of equating a personâs emotional sensitivity with their humanity.Â
I wrote about the many phases that unmasking Autistics tend to pass through, and the various needs those phases exist to meet. You can read the full piece (or have it narrated to you by the Substack app) for FREE at drdevonprice.substack.com

Thoughts on Maddi
so, apparently hating/not hating maddi is kind of a touchy subject for some people, but i have some thoughts on her too.
we know that maddi is beautiful and a witch. the only other things we know about her is that she so badly harassed diavolo in an attempt to get him to marry her that he actually almost had to give in, and did something to mammon that traumatised him so badly he came home crying, stopped spending money for a while and experienced night terrors. she also pursued and harassed lucifer, who has a chat in which he specifically says he couldn't get rid of her because of her status.
we don't know what exactly she did to mammon, but solmare did clarify that it wasn't sexual assault, and that's all the insight we have.
i totally understand the criticism of misogyny in this fandom â thirteen haters i will find you â but the widespread hatred of maddi does not stem from misogyny. it comes from the fact that the only things we know about her point to the fact she sexually harasses people and did something bad enough to traumatise one of the main love interests in the story, who of course people are going to sympathise with.
in fact, and this may be controversial, i think people trying to defend her stems from sexism more than the hatred of her does. like it or not, there is still a stigma around accepting men can be victims of harassment by women. that inherently stems from the belief that women are incapable, and men as the "superior" gender can't be taken advantage of.
as much as i hate the "imagine if the roles were reversed" argument usually, i will actually use it here just because i think it fits. imagine if lucifer and diavolo were female characters and maddi was male. imagine how the stories about her harassing diavolo into a romantic relationship and outright refusing to leave him alone would be interpreted then.
anyway, maddi is a cool and interesting character to think about, but fuck her.
#obey me#obey me shall we date#omswd#obey me maddi#obey me mammon#obey me lucifer#obey me diavolo#also solmare's clarification that what happened to mammon wasnt SA has never felt genuine to me#i 100% think it may have actually intended to be something like that#but they backpedaled after receiving backlash for making lucifer and satan victim-blaming assholes in that devilgram#but yall aint ready for that conversation

Femme Fatale Guide: How To Decenter Men In Your Life
Consider the values, goals, and desired lifestyle that feel most authentic to you if social scripts/stigmas didn't apply to you
Take time to become radically honest with your desires as an individual â outside of the perception of men, your family, boss, teachers, peers, etc.
Cultivate a sense of personhood and identity established in your interests, hobbies, skillsets, learning capabilities, creativity, and desire for growth in all aspects of life
Act in your own best interests. Speak up for your needs, and advocate for yourself. Be more "selfish." Don't apologize for what you want and go after it. Act in your own best interests
Become confident in negotiating, assertive communication, and standing on your own two feet. Establish relationships in all aspects that are based on mutual benefit and equitable exchange
Unlearn your self-sacrificing & people-pleasing. Stop shrinking yourself or suppressing your needs to make others feel better or more comfortable
Validate yourself: your needs, desires, goals, dreams, preferences, and opinions. You need to choose yourself every day. Your appeal to others means nothing if you don't like the person you are or are becoming to satisfy the needs or desires of others
Consider the ways you're consciously and subconsciously confining your self-expression and belief system to fit the mold/appease the patriarchy. Actively work to deconstruct this mentality and way of being
Be honest with yourself about how men enrich your life. Not the other way around. Do they fulfill you romantically, sexually, both, or neither? There's no right or wrong answer, except the one that requires you to put on a performance rather than live in alignment with your true self
