I stand with the 4B, land-back, black lives matter movements, and pro decolonization.

My political view is anarcho-leftist, however I do not go into that side much since this is a hobby blog.

No actually it's against transitioning! Dissomei was created as a thing of "i feel like i should have this thing but bc i dont. it causes a dissconnect between my body and myself" while desirdae is meant as a "for whatever reason, i have an intense desire to be/do XYZ" and is specifically against transitioning when it comes to more harmful things such as desirharm/desirharmed/desirethnicity or anything like that. This has been said by the coiner of desirdae, is heavily pushed in every desirdae community, and not once have I seen transitioning being suggested by anyone so far. /info

I fully understand the worry, trust me. But as someone who does fit under things like desirharmed, but who is actively trying to heal and get better, having words to explain my experience and a community that lets me know I'm not alone while discouraging my wishes to act on these desires is immensly helpful. TransID's were awful bc they actively encourage people to transition in incredibly harmful ways, basically encouraging self harm, while desirdae is simply "I get it, you're not alone, don't do that."

tl;dr no they are NOT pro transitioning whatsoever and this has been said by the coiner themself, archivist blogs, coiners, and users alike p explicitly for the most part.

As an additional sidenote, because while im unsure you mean this its an impression im getting from many people against desirdae: I don't think I want to have to say "hey dont do something harmful" whenever I talk about stuff like this to describe my mental health? To me that just feeds into more issues like my mental health somehow making me inherently dangerous. So when I talk casually about my desirdae experience, I don't want to have to clarify "im not in danger or a danger to others" everytime. On a coining post, yes of course, but the idea of having to constantly clarify my mental illness doesnt make me dangerous to myself or others sounds like actual hell tbh.

desirdaes entire concept is being a transitioning counterpart to dissomei, yes? while also being antirq, yet we accept the labels of desirharm[ed/ful] , which kind of defeats the whole purpose, it's become transIDs reskinned, and frankly i feel like this is reflecting the anti community overall, i feel like the communities just reskinned it and used the " but were not pro-xyz" while the labels mean almost the same thing, with the only difference really being the name and a very thinly veiled "transition without harm" which after a certain point isn't possible, and yet we let and accept the ones like harmed/harmful thrive, when there is no way to transition to them with out harm. there is a point where the community recreated the transIDs. The way we've did it [in my opinion] is honestly worse, as it ignores itself, desirharm[ed/ful] are such contradictions, but are defended because of its prefix when its simply the same thing, there are many harmful labels we've created and we excuse it with the simple idea that it is different because we coined it.

As the term Desirdae has become more popular, a thing I have noticed is people not understanding what "non-harmful transitioning" means. Which is quite fair! It's a very, very vague term that can be used in a multitude of ways. So, in order to curb this slightly, I feel it necessary to elaborate on what, to me at least, non-harmful transitioning entails. If the original coiner, @ghosting-plural-userboxes or @desirdae-archive would like to add anything I would love that! Ty for making this term btw, it's been genuinely so helpful <3

⌖ What is harmful transitioning?

I think in order to get into what non-harmful transitioning is, we should first get into what qualifies as harmful transitioning. So, to me, harmful transitioning is as follows ::

Transitioning by using methods of self harm, such as cutting, burning, bleaching ones skin, etc.

Transitioning by harming others, whether physically, emotionally, or spiritually // metaphysically.

Transitioning by putting yourself in traumatic situations, such as putting oneself in a situation to be groomed, assaulted, physically or emotionally harmed, etc.

Transitioning to have a disorder // disability one does not have, such as harming oneself in order to acquire a physical disability or enacting stereotypical behaviors to "act" as if they have a certain mental illness or disability.

Transitioning in a way that harms minorities of all kinds. Such as using blackface, yellowface, asianfishing, etc in order to "transition" towards different POC identities.

Transitioning to hateful and bigoted ideologiess that harm others.

Simply put, transitioning in a way that actively harms yourself or others is harmful transitioning.

Having gotten some basics of what counts as harmful transitioning out of the way, let's get onto examples of non-harmful transitioning!

Dyeing ones hair as a form of transition.

Partaking in more foods of a specific culture in order to feel more comfortable, while acknowledging one is not part of that culture (this enters a grey area with headmates, as not everything is black and white)

Accepting ones disabled traits, that they already have, and learning that no matter how they experience it, it is enough.

Learning more about cultures in order to feel more comfortable with yourself, while still acknowledging you are not a part of that culture. (Again, gets muddy when it comes to headmates)

Getting piercings, body modifications, etc done by professionals as a form of transition.

Starting HRT or other forms of medical transitioning.

Getting cosmetic surgeries (nothing that would change the appearance of your own race, of course) done by professionals as a form of transition.

And likely many other ways to do it that aren't harmful! There are really, truly, so many ways to go about this that aren't harmful I promise you. I can think of an infinite number of ways to do this stuff non-harmfully.

⌖ What makes Desirdae different from TransID?

Simply the means of which one may transition. Desirdae is firmly anti-harmful transitioning for any reason while TransID is pro all forms of transition, harmful or not. You can see this in terms like transnazi, transrace, transplural, and many transharmful identities that it is often encouraged to transition into these things, despite the harm such things do. Desirdae, on the other hand, actively discourages harmful transitioning. So while things like Desirharmful, Desirskintone, etc do exist it is actively said by the creators that one should not harmfully transition into these terms. I will say, many do not make it clear that for some terms there is no way to non-harmfully transition*. But I chock this up to people being, rightfully, tired of constantly having to explain their experience with this term isn't inherently harmful. But it is still an issue I believe should be fixed when possible. * [PT :: there is no way to non-harmfully transition]

I understand the worries many have towards Desirdae. We do not want just another TransID clone to take over and create yet another space full of radqueers who push for things like legalization of non-consensual relationships or what have you. That is a fair worry to have, and it was a worry I initially had as well. But in exploring these terms and the community that they have fostered, I have found that this is quite the opposite. It is a community based purely on consent, recovery, and a safe space for people to speak on their issues where as radqueer and transID often push anti-recovery and anti-consent rhetoric. This is the key difference between these two terms, I believe. One feeds into harmful behaviors and seemingly pushes people to the worst versions of themselves while the other is more of a "hey, I understand these feelings, I feel this way too, it's not OK but we can recover together."

If I missed anything, am incorrect about something, or if one has questions I myself am more than happy to answer. While this is not a term and community I created, it is one I am happy to be a part of and want to grow into something helpful.

18+: a label that is inherently not suitable for people under 18 years (bodily).

grammar:

nichelinking: the state of being in this kind of relationship with someone else. “we’re nichelinking,” “we might start nichelinking”

nichelink: 1) the specific terms themself. “i coined a nichelink,” “definition: an all-ages nichelink where you…” 2) the relationship itself. “our nichelink,” “his last nichelink”

nichelinker: someone who participates in nichelinking.

my own personal experience of becoming someone’s “dad” - i made a friend in high school who i came out as transgender too, and then as a joke based on how people in the undertale fandom called toriel “mom,” we began referring to me as my friend’s “dad.” this joke stuck and then started genuinely being a serious part of our friendship. reflecting on this made me realize that there’s actually lots of relationships in life that’re similar, where you refer to each other as something unusual and it feels like it changes the entire status of your friendship. i liked the idea of making a word someone can use for this kind of friendship/relationship if they wanted.

is this anti r*dqueer?

i don’t find it makes sense to say that something that isn’t a stance term/blankqueer term is anti this or pro that. but this term was inspired by r*dqueer “consensual abuse” relationships, and i did start working on this because i saw that there were a lot of people who craved a specific relationship dynamic or way of being treated who felt like they couldn’t get that outside of the r*dqueer community, so i wanted to make a risk-aware and safer alternative that is not attached to a harmful community known for abuse, transphobia, racism, etc.

if you crave being treated a certain way, yes even in a “harmed” way, this term is welcome to you.

A new label! I made this because the previous flag template was a series of separate images at 2048 x 1229 px each and having it all together from the get-go makes requests faster for me! It also brings up the image quality / size to general wiki standards for flags.

I also made a .SVG version + separate .PSD template of the symbol ( which you can find here ) and split it into parts / colors in the template for additional ease of use ( and so it's easier to apply layer effects to different parts of the symbol, if you enjoy using those! )

Hi so for Desirdae terms would you do one for psychosis in general? Like we have mild psychosis due to being bipolar but we've had our experiences trivialized or told straight up that we're lying or faking since bipolar doesn't automatically come with psychosis symptoms.

If not can you do one for bipolar disorder? Tbh all our symptoms have been trivialized in some way or another, though we would rather not get into too many specifics on that front.

Desirpsychosis: a desirdae term for those who desire/yearn/want psychosis. some examples of why are your psychosis being trivialized by others, atypical dysphoria, being shamed all your life and struggling to be open about it, struggling to recognize when your experiencing psychosis etc.

this term is pro transitioning for those who DO have psychosis! an example of transitioning would be starting to be open to close friends about your psychosis, or starting to ignore others trivialization. this term does NOT support the transitioning for those who don't have psychosis.

I have schizoid personality disorder and susptected NPD with mild histrionic leanings. If that sounds like a contradictory mess it is. It makes me appear "normal" to outsiders. I’m officially leaving the radqueer community.

I joined a transid server for advice on transitioning. And I saw one person talking about trying to smoke a lot in hopes that they get cancer.

It felt like a gut punch. Call me a hypocrite all you want. I’ve turned a blind eye to much worse transition goals. Murder. Human trafficking. RAMCOA trauma. But those things were always (I know this sounds horribly offensive to the victims, I’m so sorry) abstract concepts. I knew they happened somewhere. To some people. But they were never real.

Not so with cancer. My grandfather got addicted to cigarettes at age 15. He got lung cancer. The first time he was in the hospital was before I was born. They told me he was in remission. Radqueers would say that attempting to give yourself lung cancer is included in “radical bodily autonomy”. And I know this makes me sound like a terrible person, but if that’s what radical bodily autonomy is I don’t want it! You brought up a really good point about finally seeing the harm in that mentality when it affected someone close to you. That's a completely understandable experience to have. It goes to show that when radqueers talk about pursuing various types of self harm lightly, it does end up insulting those that deal with those struggles that didn't ask for them. And that's something that people can learn to understand even if they don't have personal experience with the subject. That's why it's important to listen to communities you don't belong to.

Hello. making a call-out for good reasons.

This is about tinetar-cheez8.

ghosting-plural-userboxes (also desirdae-archive) has already tried to make a callout post on the person, and expressing that critter does not want tinetar-cheez8 interacting with or reblogging from it.

Tinetar has proceeded to reblog desirdae against critter's wishes; even after already making a callout post. Even though desirdae is strictly anti-radqueer, they claim in their pinned post the radqueer tag is "just for reach".

Tinetar-cheez8 is also a xenosatanist (condone/are neutral on creating CSEM/CSAM, pro-contact, “AAM x MAP"). They are also "ragequeer" and use MUDs.

According to ghosting-plural-userboxes, it said tinetar has already disrespected other boundaries in the past as well. Critter has also said they changed their pinned post after it made a callout post on them.

And, wouldnt you know, when we went to go find tinetar as well, they didnt show up. Its no coincidence they tried blocking us too (probably due to us being open lately about helping with the desirdae archive, assuming.)

Its recommended tinetar-cheez8 be blocked.
