So, in biology class at my high-school we were reviewing blood info got preparation of some labs. We went over Hemophilia, which is a rare blood clotting disorder. The suffix -philia is often associated now with extensive love or lust towards (ie: objectophilia, fictophilia, and the more...uncomfortable ones like pedophilia and zoophilia.) I notice that maybe people who see the word Hemophilia instantly think of the philiac disorders, when that's not the case. I know some changed it to Haemotophilia, but often I think many will get them mixed up still. This is all speculation of course, but idk. I'm still reeling from the events of last year. From being assaulted, drugged, miscarrying, being nearly assaulted by a zoophile, losing literally Everything I had, being gaslit and having my privacy invaded by many people close to me, having revenge porn made of me, and finding out I'm being stalked and in danger by way of 24/7 surveillance, I have nearly nothing left to go on. I have to find a way out of this place and into a safe, private, healthy environment. My birthday was just 1 week ago (1/27) And I ran into further abuse and objectification. My problem comes from the normalization and celebration of paraphilic disorders on this site specifically under the disguise of disability or queer activism. A psychologist will NEVER, EVER recommend that you post about it or engage in an online community of enablers. Paraphilic disorders are not kink. Embracing paraphilic disorders is not disability activism.

You can be anti-contact and anti-enabling without being hateful or making assumptions about people who have a disorder, but people who run Para Blogs are not anti-enabling. The ProPara community has turned into a cesspool of enablers and legitimate pro-contact pedophiles who hide behind the fact that people have empathy for those with disorders they can't control. They've created a space where people brag about being pedophiles and celebrate attraction to children. This is the opposite of how the disorder is treated by professionals.

Stay away from fiction & communities that could cause you to relapse or backslide. Proshippers are not attracted to minors, our stories don't exist for pedophiles to displace their attraction onto.

The reasons paraphilic disorders are different from fetishes is because:

1. They include unwilling people or people who cannot consent, such as voyeurism or pedophilia

I want to take a moment to clarify some things regarding my recent post.

First, my DNI (Do Not Interact) request for zoophiles is about individuals who explicitly identify as such. This request isn’t about those who experience intrusive thoughts due to conditions like OCD or SOCD, which are completely unrelated. When I was much younger, I accessed this content, believing it wasn't harmful as I wasn't the one committing the acts. I didn't understand that I was still indulging in things that were at the exploitation of real animals, that a real animal was still being abused.

OP seems to be confusing pro shippers with pro para people. This is very telling about the circles they run in. Most pro shippers are not pro para. Acting like all pro shippers are either tells me you follow pro para blogs or you're simply misrepresenting pro shippers.

When it comes to paraphilias, they do hit on the correct stance. Paraphiles DO tend to offend less when they have spaces they can voice their attractions and issues in. When you make people afraid of speaking about their paraphilia and socially isolate them, they are less likely to seek help and more likely to bottle up these feelings.

Social stigma is a huge reason a lot of paraphiles will never seek help to keep from acting on attractions that would be harmful to act on.

On top of this, there are tons of paraphiliac disorders that don't involve attraction to people/things that would cause harm if acted upon. You have a fundamental misunderstanding of what a paraphilia is if you believe all paraphiles are attracted to something harmful if acted upon. X, X

But regardless, the fact remains that most pro shippers do not believe their stance extends to people with actual attraction. That's why they specifically say fiction does not affect reality, rather than attractions do not affect reality. Ask any pro para person (both people with paraphilias and simply people who support them) if they feel pro shipping communities are generally safe for them. I'm willing to bet the majority will not feel they are.

pedophiles and the likes can seek therapy

They can't, in a lot of cases. Along with social stigma, a lot of paraphiles also simply don't have access to these resources.

If you struggle with a paraphilia that you're afraid of acting on, therapy and mental health resources are fantastic. But the sad truth is a lot of people lack access to these resources.

Social stigma can keep you from seeking help because you don't want to be viewed as a danger for thoughts you cannot control and haven't acted on. If you do override the social stigma, you still deal with medical stigma. Can you find a therapist that is willing and able to help a paraphiliac patient? Let's say you can. Are they nearby enough that you can go to them? Do they take your insurance, if you have it? Can you afford to go to them?

If you're a minor, are you able to communicate with your guardian that you want therapy and are they willing/able to take you?

and learn how to how to not sexualize children and animals, they can find their safe space/community offline and in group therapy supervised by a therapist so they're not normalizing sexualizing kids to each other, and if they're really doomed to offend if they don't feel welcome by others then they were always going to offend!

This is a big misunderstanding of what therapy is, especially for paraphiles. Do you know what most therapists will recommend if you're dealing with paraphilic thoughts? Consuming these in a safe way.

Paraphilias, like all attractions, cannot be "fixed."

So, what do we do with a sexual urge that's harmful to act on, but will never go away?

We encourage release in safe ways. This might mean focusing on an anime girl. This might mean reading fake incest porn. This might mean watching necrophiliac acts on a living, consenting person. This might mean roleplaying with an adult, consenting partner.

The safe option is not "lock these feelings away, never act on them even in safe ways." We've seen this does not work and is harmful. Repressing paraphiliac urges, even in safe ways, we see higher rates of offending.

Also nobody is saying unaccepted paraphiles are "doomed to offend." People are saying unaccepted paraphiles have a higher rate of offending which is true and does not mean they're doomed to offend.

Let's look at it this way. A young person in poverty has a higher likelihood of committing theft than a young person not in poverty. If we take away poverty, the likelihood of offending goes down. This doesn't mean every poor person will steal. This doesn't mean theft will go away completely. This doesn't mean that the young person would steal, regardless of having money.

Saying "these conditions make people have a higher rate of doing this...so they would do it even without those conditions!" is ridiculous and incorrect.

What are we meaning when we say "pro pedo" exactly? Are you conflating "pedophile" with "child molester"? Because pedophiles can go their entire lives without ever being inappropriate with a real life child. Not all pedophiles are child molesters and not all child molesters are pedophiles.

When we're saying these people are "pro" pedophile, are you using this to mean that they're pro offending? Because a majority of paraphiles and pro para people are anti contact. Are you using "pro" pedophilia to mean reducing the social stigma around paraphiles? If so then yes. And everyone should be. As we've discussed, lessening social stigma around (any) mental health issue will decrease the likelihood of harm coming from those.

Separating pro kink and pro para communities are very odd for a couple reasons. One, a lot of paraphiles are in kink communities. For a lot of paraphiles, expressing their urges in safe ways directly involves practicing kink with a consenting, adult partner.

Two, a lot of people are going to come for you on this point because they believe these kinks inherently advocate for paraphiles. A person getting off on their partner pretending to be a child causes the exact same amount of harm as a non-offending paraphile does. (Zero.)

Three, many pro kink people are also pro para. If you're upset at pro shippers for being "pro pedo" then you also need to be upset with pro kink people because similar numbers of them support paraphiles.
