Pedophiles don't belong in the proship community. Zoophiles don't belong in the furry community. Can we stop conflating these communities.
If you're recovering from a paraphilic disorder, great! Can't afford a psychologist but are anti-contact and anti-enabling? Also great! I wish you the best.
My problem comes from the normalization and celebration of paraphilic disorders on this site specifically under the disguise of disability or queer activism. A psychologist will NEVER, EVER recommend that you post about it or engage in an online community of enablers. Paraphilic disorders are not kink. Embracing paraphilic disorders is not disability activism.
You can be anti-contact and anti-enabling without being hateful or making assumptions about people who have a disorder, but people who run Para Blogs are not anti-enabling. The ProPara community has turned into a cesspool of enablers and legitimate pro-contact pedophiles who hide behind the fact that people have empathy for those with disorders they can't control. They've created a space where people brag about being pedophiles and celebrate attraction to children. This is the opposite of how the disorder is treated by professionals.
Stay away from fiction & communities that could cause you to relapse or backslide. Proshippers are not attracted to minors, our stories don't exist for pedophiles to displace their attraction onto.
The reasons paraphilic disorders are different from fetishes is because:
1. They include unwilling people or people who cannot consent, such as voyeurism or pedophilia
2. They cause the participant or others harm that is potentially lifelong
3. They prevent a person from functioning or adjusting in society
I'm going to address a post I saw earlier. EXTREME TW for the defense of pro-contact "big 3" paraphilias
START QUOTE --------------------
Tumblr media
END QUOTE --------------------
Being gay harms nobody. It is an attraction between two consenting adults.
PARAPHILIC DISORDERS are not normal attraction. Comparing being a pedophile to being homosexual is not the #WOKE PEDOPHILE WIN that you think it is. It's insanely regressive and harmful.
To reiterate, you are not evil for having a paraphilic disorder.
You are not a bad person. You are a bad person for glorifying it, enabling yourself and others, fighting for your right to harm other people without consent, and engaging in an online community of pedophiles.

I notice that when you say you support all disorders (especially if you clarify supporting disorders like npd & aspd or paraphilic disorders) people seem to assume a lot of things, anywhere ranging from that you don't think the abuse some specific person with said disorder perpetrated is real all the way to YOU must be one of the people with that disorder that is abusive/predator/etc.
So, in the name of clearing things up, here's what it ACTUALLY means and doesn't mean when someone says they support xyz disorder
It does NOT mean:
-Being fine with or supporting harmful actions anyone with the disorder does/ excusing it because of their disorder
-Dismissing the abuse or other harm anyone with the disorder has caused/ believing that all people with it are innocent and anyone talking about being hurt by someone with it is lying
-Being okay with the romanticization/glorification of or romanticizing/glorifying the disorder
-The person defending people with the disorder has it themselves. Just because YOU would not defend a group when their issues don't affect you doesn't mean no one will.
-Believing everyone with the disorder "deserves a second chance" or "can and will get better" including after they have harmed others (and therefore deserve no backlash for their actions), because of their disorder- generally when people say they support people with other disorders it's not assumed they believe this is true, as everyone with a disorder are different individuals and not all of them want to be helped, and disorders don't excuse hurting people, why would that change for these?
What it DOES mean:
-Believing all people deserve access to treatment for their disorder and to be able to get help for it without getting backlash for that
-Believing the disorder as a whole does not deserve to be stigmatized as it makes it less likely people with it will seek help or be willing to be open about their disorder with anyone, and therefore will not learn to cope with potentially harmful symptoms, making it more likely they will hurt themselves or others
-Believing the disorder as a whole should not be associated with or equated with horrible groups of people such as abusers, predators, rapists, serial killers, etc.
-Believing the disorder deserves to have easily accessible and accurate resources on it so those who cannot go to therapy for one reason or another, or who are questioning having the disorder, have things for them that will be helpful
-Believing people with the disorder deserve support and support groups to help them through their journey and healing just like anyone with any other disorder
Hope this helps <3

I find it funny when people hate on plushophilia, it’s literally hurting NO ONE.
Plushies aren’t a living and breathing thing, they aren’t organic. IT’S AN OBJECT.
I get it that it’s “weird” but many things are weird and labeled weird by society. but that doesn’t mean it’s inherently bad or harmful. So what the hell is the point in shaming plushophiles?? Literally nothing.

Friendly (or unfriendly if you're against this) reminder that this blog is supportive of ALL disorders. This blog does not think ANY disorder inherently makes someone a bad person, and is against any disorder being demonized. This blog wholeheartedly believes that a bad person having a disorder, yes, even if things that are also symptoms of their disorder are part of what caused harm, does not make the disorder a "bad" or "evil" disorder or excuse ableism and demonization directed towards the disorder.
Yes this includes personality disorders
Including npd and aspd
Yes this includes all psychotic disorders & disorders that cause psychotic symptoms
Yes this includes paraphilic disorders. All of them.
Yes this includes disorders that cause, or are even characterized by, attention seeking
Yes this includes disorders that directly have lying as a common symptom
Yes this includes dissociative disorders
Yes this includes any disorder with "gross" symptoms
Yes this includes physical disorders too
Yes this includes disorders that can cause loss of control of any kind- control of speech, control of body movement, etc.
Yes tis includes disorders that make someone "look scary"
This goes for literally any fucking disorder. There are not exceptions.

🌱 Affirmations for zoos who aren't out...
You will be okay, you do not need to tell people you do not want to,
You are not betraying your loved ones by not telling them about your zoophilia,
You did not trick your loved ones into getting close to a "bad person", you're not a bad person and have done nothing wrong,
You are not hurting them by not telling them of your urges or attractions,
You do not need to tell anyone you don't want to,
You are not evil or manipulative for not letting them know,
There are people who will love and support you, zoophilia and all.
Having such a stigmatized paraphilia while being close to people who don't know- especially people who don't seem accepting, is terrifying. But, you will be okay, you will find people who it's safe to confide in, who will love you just as much.

Paraphagy (para- meaning abnormal, -phagy meaning consumption) is the abnormal or extreme need/hunger to experience, witness, interact with, or otherwise "consume" something in order to function properly.
Paraphagy is not meant to describe an unheard of or rare experience but is rather a word to describe any number of experiences that fit it for any reason, such as symptoms of disorders, alterhuman traits, etc.
Some forms of paraphagy are:

Saw that ask. Fwiw, know that whether it's POCD, a paraphiliac disorder, or a paraphilia, there's people out here that will support you. You're right that actions, not thoughts, determine morality.
Also, it doesn't make you more moral to be ashamed of those thoughts - it just makes you more in pain. You don't deserve to be in pain. I know it may not be something that can be helped, coming from someone with OCD myself, so to be clear you're not less moral if you're ashamed either. All you are is a decent person doing your best to cope with difficult thoughts and feelings.
If there's any specific kindness/positivity you want in your inbox, feel free to share and I'll do my best to send it! ^^
🥺thank you so much, this is such a needed ask. it's one thing telling myself all these things til you really internalize it, and another to have it affirmed by someone else - especially given how demonized people like me are. i'm definitely gonna need to look back at this whenever i get.. pessimistic, to say the least.
honestly i could generally use more positivity for ocd - morality/harm related mainly. i'm not self or professionally dx'd, but the resources and positivity that i've found so far have been really helpful. i just don't really know where to find more all that well.

Most of the people who call themselves a “weird freak” online are just losers who use microlabels nobody gives a shit about, and they wouldn’t last a day around… actual people who are considered freaks and met with disgust and the true hate, going far beyond simple disrespect, that they use as their “edgy” little aesthetic.

Recovery from paraphilic disorder is often about learning self-acceptance, developing coping skills, setting boundaries, processing trauma, reducing harm, and taking responsibility. It's not about making someone "get rid of" their paraphilia. Paraphilias, by themselves, are not inherently dangerous or harmful! Yes, that means even the ones that people think are "gross."

Personal Intro
Hello, you can call me Wraith (no pronouns or he/him if you must)
I'm a psychology and counselling graduate, panpara / omniphile, and non-contact 🗺️tivist and para activist. I have experience volunteering for 🗺️ organisations like the ones I've listed and providing peer support for fellow -philes, which I'd love to do here if Tumblr so allows it
I also have experience with receiving therapy as a minor and young adult for a para disorder. I've since gotten a lot better and no longer meet the critera for said disorder, but still receive therapy because it's tough being in this situation when society sees you as a danger
I use transids and identify as transeverything myself - currently looking into dissomei identities but not sure about switching yet I have schizoaffective disorder and experience delusions
Tags do not necessarily reflect my identity, I'd just rather this post access the people it needs to
