#Repost @decolonizing_fitness (@get_repost) ・・・ “Labels are important. It's how we communicate the truth about ourselves to the world. The problem lies not in the label but in our dogmatic adherence to our perceptions of them. Labels can be fluid and changing just like the human experience. It’s okay if you don’t want to label yourself but please stop saying “labels are so unnecessary, we are all humans” because so many people have been struggling with their identity for a long time and need a word to hold onto and a group to feel connected to.” • • #decolonizingfitness #fitnessforallbodies #bodyliberation #healingjustice #redefiningfitness #disabilityjustice #genderjustice #weightneutrality #trustblackfemmes #fatacceptance #bodypeace #queerfitness #fitnessagainstfascism #functionalfitness #celebrateyou #liberation #blackboimagic #bodyjustice #youareenough

#Repost @killingthedietindustry (@get_repost) ・・・ For many, self-care and intuitive eating/movement are not as simple as "I feel like eating this thing or doing this thing, so I'm going to." Intuitive eating is, at its core, a social justice issue. So many people are forced to navigate the precarious process of making peace with food and their bodies with a baseline of food insecurity, limited access to a variety of foods, a lack of safe spaces to practice joyful movement, inadequate medical care, or severe constraints on time (due to working long hours and/or multiple jobs). The conversation around health has to shift away from the contemporary meaningless garbage about size and weight; rather, we need to be talking about the overwhelmingly predominant determinant of health outcomes: socioeconomic status. If we aren't talking about equality and access, we're contributing to the problem. Thanks to @chr1styharrison for the always amazing and insightful podcast, and @carmen.cool for her inspiring work! #equality #access #health #foodinsecurity #socioeconomic #status #socialjustice #oppression #empowerment #patriarchy #selfcare #selfcompassion #intuitiveeating #intuitivemovement #healthateverysize #haes #fatactivism #fatacceptance #bodypeace #foodfreedom #weightneutral #community #recovery #eatingdisorderrecovery #eatingdisorderawareness #representation #diversity

#Repost @killingthedietindustry (@get_repost) ・・・ Reposting this jewel from my less-overextended April 2017 brain. Consider this brilliant quote when you feel the urge to start a diet, exercise for aesthetics, restrict your intake, or engage in any other behavior intended to change your body's natural form. You are not dieting for you. You aren't choosing to diet in a vacuum. Far from it. Dieting is unoriginal and uninspiring. The desire to suppress our weight and abuse our bodies has been deliberately embedded in our psyches. Society wants us to disengage and turn our fire inward. To diet is to embrace our own systematic oppression. When we diet, we surrender our power and communicate to society that we don't matter. We have value. We are angry at this culture, not our bodies. We are capable of being heard and changing norms. We deserve to take up space. We are diverse in size, shape, and experience. Our differences make us a stronger whole. We weren't meant to look the same. We weren't meant to discard our potential and waste our precious time with this meaningless superficial shit. It will never be enough. End the war on yourself, and fight for something greater. #antidiet #dietculture #dietindustry #thebeautymyth #naomiwolf #oppression #sedation #obedience #womenshistory #discrimination #patriarchy #empowerment #diversity #representation #community #equality #power #activism #activist #feminism #feminist #intersectionality #intersectional #weightneutral #liberation #effyourbeautystandards #losehatenotweight #healthateverysize #fatactivism #bodylove

#truestory thank you for sharing this @amee_rd Posted @withrepost • @amee_rd Disordered eating is about more than wanting to be thin. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It can also be disordered to be too focused on health. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Health is not something that is directly related to what we are doing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sometimes, there are things we can do that can be health promoting and these activities are everything from exercise, to eating certain foods, to wearing a seatbelt, to the kinds of drugs you may or may not use. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And you could even do everything "right" and still have a health condition. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Because that's life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And obsessing over health and everything we put in our body adds stress and fear that we don't need to live with. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's not a personal failure to not be "healthy".⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's not a moral triumph to be "healthy"⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And obsessing over it could be an eating disorder.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Diet culture has normalized this with diets being more about health than about weight loss now (explicitly. It's still implied that weight loss *should* occur)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Let's call this out too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #HAES #healthateverysize #intuitiveeating #fatacceptance #fatactivism #bodyliberation #intuitiveeatingrd #fatpositiverd #edrd #haesrd #radicaldietitian #pnwdietitian #fatdietitian #prospernutrition #bellinghamrd #losehatenotweight #riotsnotdiets #radicalselflove #nourishnotpunish #antidiet #nondiet #allfoodsfit #selfcarenotselfcontrol #edrecovery #weightinclusive #weightneutral #haesig #bodytrustisyourbirthright https://www.instagram.com/p/B3VfAlyAFBz/?igshid=bdyy6a9znqtb

#Repost @amee_rd with @get_repost ・・・ Does your definition of #healthateverysize include a health requirement? If so, you are missing the point. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #HAES originally spoke a lot about health - almost as if it was a requirement. But the movement has changed. The book is no longer the sacred text of the movement. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Social change is the root. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Not only is having health (whatever that even means) not a requirement - it's 100% optional and I don't even think it needs to be a big part of the conversation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There are a lot of people out here talking about health. And what anyone in any size can do to work toward health (a totally possible thing btw) but I'm not going to be another one of those, not really. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We don't need another dietitian telling you about health. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I want to be here to tell you that you don't have to care. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You get to have whatever relationship with food that you want to. It's about you. Not about performing health or health behaviors so your body is perceived as acceptable (or slightly more acceptable).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Health is not a requirement. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Don't let them tell you otherwise.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #intuitiveeating #fatacceptance #fatactivism #bodyliberation #intuitiveeatingrd #fatpositiverd #edrd #haesrd #dietitian #fatdietitian #plussizerd #losehatenotweight #riotsnotdiets #socialjustice #radicalselflove #feminism #nourishnotpunish #antidiet #nondiet #allfoodsfit #edrecovery #weightinclusive #weightneutral #bodyacceptance #bodytrustisyourbirthright https://www.instagram.com/p/ByYqTS5FsIU/?igshid=ml0t9yc5nech

Posted @withrepost • @amee_rd There is absolutely no reason why you are not allowed to eat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You can eat no matter your size, gender, color, weight, health condition, or emotional state. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Food is as much a biological need as sleep. If you want to sleep, you are allowed to. And it's just a normal thing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It has no moral value. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Food only has moral value because our culture has placed moral value on it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here's the secret: there is no moral value to food. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You are not a better or worse person because of the food you eat. It's just food. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So here is your Monday reminder: you are allowed to eat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thanks @bodyposipanda⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #HAES #healthateverysize #intuitiveeating #fatacceptance #fatactivism #bodypositivity #intuitiveeatingrd #fatpositiverd #edrd #haesrd #pnwdietitian #fatdietitian #plussizerd #prospernutrition #bellinghamrd #losehatenotweight #riotsnotdiets #socialjustice #radicalselflove #nourishnotpunish #antidiet #nondiet #allfoodsfit #selfcarenotselfcontrol #edrecovery #weightinclusive #weightneutral #bodyacceptance https://www.instagram.com/diannebondyyoga/p/BvcUOC1DtkS/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=mwmmmy8i6i8k

I loves me some @virgietovar so goood! Thanks for the share • @amee_rd What does our body size really have to do with our worth? Answer: nothing. We don't owe anyone any prettiness, thinness, whiteness or anything else. When we are fed a lie that we should all look a certain way - whatever that beauty standard du jour happens to be, we are being controlled. When we focus so much of our time and energy on the way we look, the way we are presented, the way we are perceived - we don't have a chance. We are consumed. "When I'm thin enough, I'll do this, I'll change this, then I'll make this difference in the world, go for this job, focus on this thing." It's a story I've heard, and said, countless times. Well, we don't owe anyone this. Ask yourself who is benefitting off of your obsession with looks. Who is profiting? Is it you? I doubt it. Let's recognizing that fatphobia is a form of systematic oppression. And let's fight back. (Note, this whole quote is: What we must realize is that it's not thinness that is being eroticized. What is being eroticized is the submission thinness represents in our culture. Thinness is a secondary characteristic. The true commodity is the willingness of women to acquiesce to cultural control. Controlling women's body size is about controlling women's lives. This claim to control is based on fantasies of masculine superiority bolstered by the culture. This control does not just apply to thinness." @virgietovar) . . . #HAES #healthateverysize #intuitiveeating #fatacceptance #fatliberation #bodypositivity #intuitiveeatingrd #fatpositiverd #edrd #haesrd #pnwdietitian #plussizerd #prospernutrition #bellinghamrd #losehatenotweight #riotsnotdiets #eatingdisorderdietitian #socialjustice #radicalselflove #feminism #antidiet #nondiet #allfoodsfit #edrecovery #weightinclusive #weightneutral #effyourbeautystandards #bodyacceptance https://www.instagram.com/diannebondyyoga/p/BuKOanzj2_2/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=vulg3qxh4t84
