#Repost @amee_rd with @get_repost ・・・ A lie diet culture sells us is that we can hate ourselves into loving ourselves. Being so "unhappy" with how we are now will only make us "motivated" to change. The truth is, if you are unhappy now, changing your body will most likely not make a difference to that. You will still be unhappy. If you can love yourself now, if you can treat yourself with respect, you can truly listen to your body and it will treat you kindly in return. . . Now, self-love is hard. Self-love doesn't always mean loving the way you look. It's like a relationship. You may not always love it, but you are willing and able to treat it with the respect it deserves. And you deserve respect. Always. . If you haven't checked out @virgietovar work, DO IT. You will never ever regret it. . #HAES #healthateverysize #intutiveeating #selflove #selfrespect #fatacceptance #eatingdisorder #treatyourselfwithrespect #youdeservelove #registereddietitian #nondietdietitian #antidietdietitian #virgietovarquote #eatingdisorderrecovery #eatingdisorderdietitian #fatdietitian #plussizerd @virgietovar https://www.instagram.com/p/BsgpObFDXDj/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=z2h9llrxgx0c

#Repost @amee_rd with @get_repost ・・・ Does your definition of #healthateverysize include a health requirement? If so, you are missing the point. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #HAES originally spoke a lot about health - almost as if it was a requirement. But the movement has changed. The book is no longer the sacred text of the movement. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Social change is the root. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Not only is having health (whatever that even means) not a requirement - it's 100% optional and I don't even think it needs to be a big part of the conversation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There are a lot of people out here talking about health. And what anyone in any size can do to work toward health (a totally possible thing btw) but I'm not going to be another one of those, not really. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We don't need another dietitian telling you about health. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I want to be here to tell you that you don't have to care. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You get to have whatever relationship with food that you want to. It's about you. Not about performing health or health behaviors so your body is perceived as acceptable (or slightly more acceptable).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Health is not a requirement. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Don't let them tell you otherwise.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #intuitiveeating #fatacceptance #fatactivism #bodyliberation #intuitiveeatingrd #fatpositiverd #edrd #haesrd #dietitian #fatdietitian #plussizerd #losehatenotweight #riotsnotdiets #socialjustice #radicalselflove #feminism #nourishnotpunish #antidiet #nondiet #allfoodsfit #edrecovery #weightinclusive #weightneutral #bodyacceptance #bodytrustisyourbirthright https://www.instagram.com/p/ByYqTS5FsIU/?igshid=ml0t9yc5nech

#truestory thank you for sharing this @amee_rd Posted @withrepost • @amee_rd Disordered eating is about more than wanting to be thin. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It can also be disordered to be too focused on health. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Health is not something that is directly related to what we are doing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sometimes, there are things we can do that can be health promoting and these activities are everything from exercise, to eating certain foods, to wearing a seatbelt, to the kinds of drugs you may or may not use. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And you could even do everything "right" and still have a health condition. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Because that's life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And obsessing over health and everything we put in our body adds stress and fear that we don't need to live with. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's not a personal failure to not be "healthy".⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's not a moral triumph to be "healthy"⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And obsessing over it could be an eating disorder.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Diet culture has normalized this with diets being more about health than about weight loss now (explicitly. It's still implied that weight loss *should* occur)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Let's call this out too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #HAES #healthateverysize #intuitiveeating #fatacceptance #fatactivism #bodyliberation #intuitiveeatingrd #fatpositiverd #edrd #haesrd #radicaldietitian #pnwdietitian #fatdietitian #prospernutrition #bellinghamrd #losehatenotweight #riotsnotdiets #radicalselflove #nourishnotpunish #antidiet #nondiet #allfoodsfit #selfcarenotselfcontrol #edrecovery #weightinclusive #weightneutral #haesig #bodytrustisyourbirthright https://www.instagram.com/p/B3VfAlyAFBz/?igshid=bdyy6a9znqtb

Posted @withrepost • @amee_rd There is absolutely no reason why you are not allowed to eat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You can eat no matter your size, gender, color, weight, health condition, or emotional state. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Food is as much a biological need as sleep. If you want to sleep, you are allowed to. And it's just a normal thing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It has no moral value. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Food only has moral value because our culture has placed moral value on it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here's the secret: there is no moral value to food. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You are not a better or worse person because of the food you eat. It's just food. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So here is your Monday reminder: you are allowed to eat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thanks @bodyposipanda⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #HAES #healthateverysize #intuitiveeating #fatacceptance #fatactivism #bodypositivity #intuitiveeatingrd #fatpositiverd #edrd #haesrd #pnwdietitian #fatdietitian #plussizerd #prospernutrition #bellinghamrd #losehatenotweight #riotsnotdiets #socialjustice #radicalselflove #nourishnotpunish #antidiet #nondiet #allfoodsfit #selfcarenotselfcontrol #edrecovery #weightinclusive #weightneutral #bodyacceptance https://www.instagram.com/diannebondyyoga/p/BvcUOC1DtkS/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=mwmmmy8i6i8k

#Repost @amee_rd with @get_repost ・・・ Thin does not mean better. Thin does not mean healthier. Thin does not mean more worthy. Thin mean body size. That is all. When we equate body size with worth or value, we hurt anyone who does not naturally fit that mold. And plenty of people don't. We are not a one-size-fits-all species. We are all over the spectrum. And we should honor all of those differences. Being in a bigger body means nothing more than having a different hair color or eye color. It is a description of us. It is not a moral value. I reject morality being placed on my body size.
