#very conflicted about how Vi was written

I’m going to be honest I think Vi’s writing in this act wasn’t as strong as it could have been. Every other character I felt (for the most part) acted according to who we know they are or their evolution had enough screen time to fully understand why they got to the point they did at the end of act 1, but there just felt like there was a bit of a disconnect between the pieces they presented and the way they executed certain plot points when it comes to Vi’s character.
(This is not meant to be hate. I love this show and this is in no way targeted towards any user here. This is meant to voice my feelings)
I felt like the pieces were there to make everything click into place and feel totally in character for Vi. The council wanted to send in all the enforcers (what could lead to all out war) and Caitlyn managed to wrangle control and convince them to send in a small strike team (damage and collateral mitigation).
Make that be at the forefront of Vi’s decision to join the enforcers. Vi is a protector first and foremost, but she’s also deeply effected by Vander’s ideology. If the decision is that she can join the enforcers and ensure that only a small strike team will be sent out to targeted areas to detain only Jinx and prevent an all out war Vi would do that. I have no doubt post season 1 Vi would do that and it would be a logical extension of Vi’s protector role and how she acts on Vander’s ideology.
Then there’s the fact that we don’t get to see Vi’s reaction to the idea or plan to use the grey. That felt like a key moment missing. We get to see Caitlyn learning about it but not presenting it or if she received any push back. In fact we don’t get to see Vi push back in any way against Caitlyn this act until the moment where she stops her from shooting at Isha and Jinx. (That moment where Vi didn’t push back against Caitlyn sending someone to Stillwater when just episodes before she was calling Jayce out for the same threat was glaring to me)
I think the angle is that Vi is guilt ridden. She blames herself for what’s happening and Caitlyn’s spiral so she doesn’t feel like she has the right to push back or she feels they just need to end this quickly so things won’t continue like this but I feel like both of those are generous on my end because its not conveyed well. I feel like having a moment prior to episode 3 (where it’s implied they’ve been doing this for weeks or months. Seriously what was the passage of time?) at the start where we see Vi start to give concessions and really see her thought process behind it would go a long way. And, while it wouldn’t justify the line above, it would make the line make a lot more sense coming from Vi’s mouth.
It would have also made it so that when Vi finally pushed back against Caitlyn and drew the line it would be more impactful. This is Vi actually returning to that protector she is at her core. That despite everything she’s still her. And like every time before when tried to do the right thing she gets punished for it and loses someone she loves. It’s a tragic conclusion to act 1.
These issues and changes aren’t meant to justify Vi’s actions. I’m someone who has said that they believe this is the wrong choice and the alienation Vi will face as a result is deserved and justified, but wow did I feel like they didn’t earn some of these turns.
I genuinely want to hear other people’s opinions on this. Does anyone else feel this way or am I pushing back too hard? I actually do want to know if you agree or disagree (as long as it’s actually conversational) because I’d love to hear what other think.

Caitlyn and Vi weaponizing toxic air pollution against the undercity and then Jinx and Sevika using Janna’s temple to recreate her legendary miracle by blowing that toxic air back onto Piltover.
Jinx (and Sevika) just became the hero Zaun needs.

The thing they did with Silco about forgiveness and letting go was so stupid. And unfortunately Vander’s letter is a part of that. Like I wanna like it for zaundads reasons but I just can’t, it’s all so hollow.
Cos like, s1a1 Silco already forgave Vander in his own way, right? Otherwise he wouldn’t approach him and be invested in Vander joining him, right? “as time passed so did my hate” anyone?
Same with Jinx. These were never characters who were portrayed as ppl who simply needed to learn to forgive. They actually forgive very easily and freely in s1. When reuniting with Vi, Jinx is immediately happy to see her, before Vi ever has the chance to explain anything. It didn’t matter, maybe Vi did abandon her but what matters is that she’s back now. Vander did try to drown him but maybe they can fix things. This is how much they wanna make amends with their family. And it’s not just them. Vander seemingly immediately forgave Silco for killing Benzo, like he’s not mad at him at all for that in ep 3.
Like yes, Silco would never forgive Piltover and Vander and Vi were kinda framed as the ‘topside’ in the relationships but that metaphor never quite worked all the way through cos they’re not topside, they’re zaunites too. They’re family and so they get second chances easily. (That’s why I thought it was a good idea to elevate Cait as maybe even more of a rival to Jinx than Vi was, getting a Jinx vs Vi+Cait conflict, where Vi and Cait together represent Piltover, the ‘dictator’ + the peacekeeper/status quo enforcer that’s kinda in the middle)
Man, I miss how in s1 we had real conflicts (e.g. ideological) and not just misunderstandings that could be easily fixed with a poorly written letter. And so the only reason the plot happened is miscommunication ig. Like, just read the god damned letter Silco lol.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about Arcane Season 2, especially after Act 1.
I enjoyed the season and there was a great deal I loved about it. The animation, in particular, was spectacular. But I had a lot of issues about its pacing, characterization and key narrative choices.
(Spoilers)
Why does the finale of a show that's supposed to be about two sisters revolve around two men? Why were all of its other female characters also sidelined to focus on them? Why was Sky fridged yet again?
Vi had no proper arc or goal across this season and was very inconsistently written. Jinx had comparatively more consistency but still had major issues. Their relationship, as mentioned above, was also not handled properly or given adequate attention.
Vi and Caitlyn's relationship was a mess in almost every way, I'm sorry.
Mel and Ekko were both almost entirely sidelined after Act 1 (and the Firelights barely played any role at all?)
The way they handled Viktor's terminal illness, specifically how Jayce spoke about it, was fucked up
The socio-political conflict between Piltover and Zaun was almost completely swept under the rug by bringing in a new Big Bad and common enemy for them to "unite" against. Piltover's oppression of Zaun was also massively minimized after Act 1 and ignored altogether; after defeating Noxus, there is no reason not to believe that they would go back to the status quo of inequality and martial law. Sevika getting a seat on the council (still Piltover's council) is mere lip service with no discussion on what that actually entailed, or what they planned to do in the future. Zaun is still not free. I've seen people try to justify this by claiming that "that was the point, it's meant to show that things are imperfect" but the fact of the matter is that there is no indication that the show wanted to make this point at all (and if they did, it was very badly done). They should have addressed the oppression of Zaun directly, which they never did. What they instead did was actively downplay it on far too many occasions.
There were some plot points I personally disagreed with, like their decision to bring Vander back, but those are personal grievances that I could have made peace with if they were written well. Unfortunately, they weren't.
A lot of these problems stem from pacing, tbh. The show also introduced far too many plot threads last minute without resolving anything properly. If they had three seasons, or even a longer second season, maybe they could have committed to addressing what they had previously set up. But it doesn't seem to have been their priority in the first place, so 🤷🏻‍♀️
Also, the way the fandom is relentlessly attacking anyone who dares to critique/criticize this season is pathetic and needs to stop.

Arcane Characters × Gn! Reader Astrology Headcanons | SFW | 1.7k | Part 1/3 *Reposted from an old blog of mine!
- What Signs are they most likely to date? - How long do they stay together? - What are their relationships like? Featuring: Vi , Jinx , and Ekko
Tumblr media
VI ⋆ Aries , Cancer , Capricorn , Aquarius
Vi was born December 19th! Thus, she's a Sagittarius! The fire element truly suits her personality-- brave, bold, and sometimes a little too hot to handle. A few of her traits align very well with her sign, too! She's free-spirited and yet grounded in her sense of duty. She struggles in relationships that feel too clingy or walled-in, though in her heart's heart, Vi dreams of a partner that will remain by her side no matter the adventure.
ARIES ⋆ Fiery & Genuine ⋆ 8 Months - 2 Years
Fire for fire, heart for heart. Vi's relationship with an Aries would come on hard and fast-- and is likely a relationship of circumstance. With two strong personalities, Vi and her Aries are sure to get a lot done together regarding their personal goals.
However, when trouble comes, it comes on just as harshly. Split goals can be the thing to crumble their connection, as Vi needs someone who can stay on her page, and unfortunately, lacks a lot of give when conflict hits. If you want to be the Aries to conquer that 2-year mark... You'll have to be ready for hellfire, and ready to promise her that you'll still be there, even when she is being a bit unreasonable.
CANCER ⋆ Loyal & Intuitive ⋆ 2 Months - 5 Years
The road to heaven is a rocky one. Unlike the whirlwind romance of Vi and Aries, Vi and Cancer take time to develop. Though a Cancer with a sharp eye can decode Vi with a few spare moments and an eyeglass-- Vi struggles a lot more to bond fully with her Cancer. They're intuitive, and deep, but tend to keep that vulnerability composed when they're just getting to know someone. That can be very frustrating for Vi, who struggles with more poetic relationships.
But once Vi's Cancer learns to let her in, Vi is an apt learner. She may not say it aloud, but Vi remembers every single inch of her Cancer, from their favorite color, to their favorite cut of shirt. That's when a Cancer can really dive into Vi's vulnerability, too, leading to many late-night talks about things Vi hasn't told anyone else.
CAPRICORN ⋆ Responsible & Balancing ⋆ 1 Year - Forever
Stability starts with trust. Vi's relationship with a Capricorn very likely starts as friendship. Before Vi can love her Capricorn, she has to learn to appreciate how balanced she feels, by the earth sign. While Vi is a very fiery, active Sagittarius, her Capricorn can give that fire a stage to burn on without getting out of control.
Once Vi learns stability with her Capricorn, the only way to lose her is by never showing her your own need for stability, as well. While Vi loves having a pillar of confidence at her side, she begins to doubt herself if you don't show her that you, too, need her. If Vi's Capricorn can let their walls down and allow Vi to take the wheel-- they're bound to be together forever.
AQUARIUS ⋆ Independent & Thoughtful ⋆ 6 Months - 7 Years
United under the same cause. Vi and her Aquarius are another case of circumstance-- united under their same desire for equity. Aquarius can frequently pose as the planner behind Vi's action, and many may not know it. Until stated aloud, many may not even realize Vi and her Aquarius are a couple, because they're so driven to the work they do together.
Things become much more intimate in the later years, if an Aquarius makes it so far. Things begin to take shape when Vi begins to learn to let herself be vulnerable in front of them-- leading to a very fulfilling sense of mutual understanding. Overall, very fulfilling and sweet-- but you may have to push for additional affection, if you desire it.
JINX ⋆ Taurus , Gemini , Leo , Pisces
Jinx is an October baby! The tenth, specifically-- making her a Libra! I find her Libra-ness to be so interestingly contradictory! Not to say she isn't like a libra... But that it's so clear that she is one, although terribly wounded away from the diplomatic, social nature they're known for. Due to her struggles, it shows through primarily in her grudge-holding ability, and in how much she hurts when she's stuck by herself. Jinx needs a loving hand-- and one that will not waver.
TAURUS ⋆ Patient & Devoted ⋆ 1 Month - Forever
Survive the storm, then smooth sailing! Jinx inherently struggles with forming real, true relationships. A Taurus is genuinely the perfect match for her-- to supply the stability and empathy Jinx so deeply desires. At first, Jinx will self-sabotage, testing her Taurus just to see how far they can be pushed before they jump ship. No one would fault the Taurus for leaving-- but a real stubborn bull can bring her home.
Once she realizes that there's no amount of fighting, crying, kicking or screaming she could do to chase you off, the storm clouds fade. Jinx still has her bad days, and will need extra assurance then. But rest assured, once Jinx knows you would never abandon her, she'd do just about anything to keep you. Expect many, many, many handmade gifts.
GEMINI ⋆ Affectionate & Gentle ⋆ 3 Months - 5 Years
Not forever, but never forgotten. I don't think Jinx would find her life partner in a Gemini. However, I do think Jinx would learn so much about loving herself and others from one. Gemini marks the gentle hand of her first sweetheart, and reminds her that it's okay to be gentle and sweet, as she once was.
Jinx and her Gemini teach each other so much about the good and the bad of love, and they do it all together. Though Jinx is a holder of grudges, she will never forget the whirlwind of flower petals her Gemini lovers always flurry her way.
LEO ⋆ Passionate & Cozy ⋆ Never or Forever
The truest match. All I'm saying is, if Jinx finds a Leo, the other signs don't stand a chance. Chances of Jinx dating a Leo are very, very low... But if she gets even a little too captured by the passionate, yet adoring nature of a Leo, she's going to be smitten for eternity! Jinx and her Leo understand perfectly both the softness, and the insanity, of each other. A mutual understanding leads to a lot in common!
Leos can provide for Jinx the passionate crazy of a fire sign, but with a handful of the security and devotion she's attracted to in earth signs. This leads to a relationship that challenges her and her ideals, while also providing her with a feeling of safety and security.
PISCES ⋆ Compassionate & Intuitive ⋆ 2 Years - 3 Years
Weigh your consequences, and you'll make it! The selfless nature of a Pisces makes it relatively easy to make it into Jinx's circle, but beware! Jinx's desire to succeed in her plans makes her more likely to not see you as a partner, but an aid. She doesn't have bad intent, but she's greedy when it comes to her intentions-- and they may just be bigger than the two of you combined.
If you're able to draw a line between doing Jinx's bidding and helping her when she needs it, she'll learn to only call upon you when she needs you. Fruitfully, her needs become less of a reliance, and more of a desire for your kind, flowing energy in her space.
EKKO ⋆ Libra , Scorpio , Sagittarius , Virgo
Ekko was born May 28th, making him an adaptable, quick-witted Gemini. Though Ekko puts on his tough, determined face when fighting for freedom with the Firelights, that little kid is still alive and well within! This just means he's chock-full of passion, and also plenty of silliness he may only show around those he loves most.
LIBRA ⋆ Cooperative & Peaceful ⋆ 3 Months to 1 Year
Collaborators... And more. Ekko's bond with a Libra is precious. It reminds him of his youth, and makes him feel free. His Libra works with him at his side, to reach common goals. You seldom fight (Dear Libra, your habit of leaving minor issues unspoken can poison Ekko rotten), and often fill nights with long-winded conversations about your ideas and beliefs.
Libra, though, is very committed. Ekko is not ready to settle down, and while that doesn't mean he plans on screwing around, he simply isn't ready to commit to a forever partner. This can dishearten his infatuated Libra, and may even be the final unspoken disagreement that ends their relationship.
SCORPIO ⋆ Powerful & Assertive ⋆ 8 Months to 6 Years
Honesty, always. The bond between Ekko and his Scorpio will never be tarnished by lies or lack of communication. Their shared practicality leads to easily shared goals and aspirations, making Scorpios the most common of Ekko's date choices.
I do think they conflict a little, in the common Scorpio desire for physical affections. Ekko prioritizes time spent together, and can sometimes forget that bed isn't just for falling into, exhausted, and ending the night. Remind him that you need that physical assurance, and things will retain nicely.
SAGITTARIUS ⋆ Generous & Intellectual ⋆ 1 Month to 6 Months
Short lived, but passionate. Ekko's relationships with his Sagittarius tends to be one of shared ideals and interests, but little deep emotional bond. The two enjoy being together, working together, and chatting-- but the two find it hard to bond on a deeper level. The free-spirited Sagittarius is predisposed to getting bored of this lacking bond.
If you're the special case he decides to let his walls down for, though, it can be very fulfilling. Ekko and his Sagittarius challenge each other in every way-- opinions, intelligence, and all. It's an incredibly energetic relationship, with lots of gentle teasing and prodding.
VIRGO ⋆ Loyal & Stable ⋆ 4 Months to Forever
Two sides of the same coin. Typical of an earth sign, Ekko's Virgo offers a sense of security and stability in routine and presence. They bounce off of each other very well, learning that maybe being a little less this and a little more that can round them both out very well! Ekko can bring a quiet Virgo out of their shell and into the spotlight, while the Virgo can teach him that sometimes, it's okay to step back and watch the big picture as it comes into light.
However, Ekko and Virgos both share a similar issue-- Unending aspiration. Ekko's priorities can make things inconsistent, while Virgos tend to prioritize their goals in a way that leads to comfortable change and strict ritual. Ekko can't promise those rituals will always be around, and it poses a serious risk for the both of them.

The UN's Official Mission report on Hamas' Sexual Violence in Israel was published
Please take your time to read this. Israeli \ Jewish victims deserve the same protection as any other women.
The brief version can be read here.
----
***I am not going to include any graphic detailing.
The pattern of Sexual Violence used by Hamas is very clear:
It was one of their key goals and tactics on October 7th.
Tumblr media
You cannot say "Female Hostages are treated well. you're lying by saying they're raped" anymore!
Tumblr media
Notice how they also said **Children**
Tumblr media
Civilians were in fact burned inside their homes
Tumblr media
This is also clearly a pattern used by Hamas, as this is just one of many examples they detail. -Hamas has also burned soldiers alive in their dorms and offices. That is also further detailed in the report.
This is not fake or propaganda
I can't believe I have to write this but this report is an official report (finally) made by the UN's Sexual Violence Office, as part of their yearly report.
They had a 2-week delegation that toured the actual Kibbutzim (turned crime scenes), interviewed eyewitnesses, spoke to families of victims, etc...
___
I do have to say I was mistaken in my earlier post, besides their conclusion, they have also written their recommendations:
...." V. Conclusions
Overall, based on the totality of information gathered from multiple and independent sources at the different locations, there are reasonable grounds to believe that conflict-related sexual violence occurred at several locations across the Gaza periphery, including in the form of rape and gang rape, during the 7 October 2023 attacks. Credible circumstantial information, which may be indicative of some forms of sexual violence, including genital mutilation, sexualized torture, or cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, was also gathered. 22
With regards to the hostages, the mission team found clear and convincing information that some hostages taken to Gaza have been subjected to various forms of conflict-related sexual violence and has reasonable grounds to believe that such violence may be ongoing.
The mission team was unable to establish the prevalence of sexual violence and concludes that the overall magnitude, scope, and specific attribution of these violations would require a fully-fledged investigation. A comprehensive investigation would enable the information base to be expanded in locations which the mission team was not able to visit and to build the required trust with survivors/victims of conflict-related sexual violence who may be reluctant to come forward at this point.
Regarding the occupied Palestinian Territory, while its scope did not extend to verification, the mission team received information from institutional and civil society sources as well as through direct interviews, about some forms of sexual violence against Palestinian men and women in detention settings, during house raids and at checkpoints. Though the mission team did not visit Gaza, the Office of the SRSG-SVC will continue to monitor the situation for any relevant allegations of CRSV in the context of the ongoing hostilities. The relevant UN entities present in the occupied Palestinian Territory will provide UN-verified information for reporting to the Security Council on allegations of CRSV, which will be complemented by the information obtained by the mission team.
VI. Recommendations
The mission team makes the following recommendations: a) Continue to encourage the Government of Israeli to grant, without further delay, access to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem and Israel, to carry-out fully-fledged investigations into all alleged violations that would deepen the preliminary findings contained in the present report. b) Urge Hamas and other armed groups to immediately and unconditionally release all individuals held in captivity and to ensure their protection including from sexual violence, in line with international law. c) Call on all relevant and competent bodies, national and international, to bring all perpetrators, regardless of rank or affiliation, to justice based on individual, superior and command responsibility, in accordance with due process of law and fair trial standards. d) Encourage the Government of Israel to consider signing a Framework of Cooperation with the Office of the SRSG-SVC to strengthen capacity on justice and accountability for CRSV crimes as well as security sector engagement, training, and oversight to prevent and address CRSV. 23 e) Strengthen the capacity of the United Nations to monitor and report on incidents, patterns and trends of CRSV in both Israel and the occupied Palestinian Territory through the establishment of the Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Arrangements on CRSV (MARA), convened by dedicated technical specialists, namely Women’s Protection Advisors (WPAs), deployed to the region to ensure prevention, protection and coordinated multi-sectoral assistance to survivors/victims. f) Encourage relevant actors to uphold information integrity and ethical, trauma-informed representations of conflict-related sexual violence, including by respecting and safeguarding the dignity and identity of survivors/victims and witnesses of sexual violence, as sensationalizing headlines, media pressure and scrutiny, exposure of identity, political instrumentalization and pressure, and/or fear of reprisal can result in the suppression, silencing and discrediting of survivors/victims and witnesses, further compound trauma and increase the risk of social stigmatization. g) Urge all parties to the conflict to adopt a humanitarian ceasefire, and to ensure that expertise on addressing conflict-related sexual violence informs the design and implementation of all ceasefire and political agreements and that the voices of women and affected communities are heard in all conflict resolution and peacebuilding processes....."
Israelis have been repeatedly saying all of this for months now, while you deny it. I've personally had people tell me it's all "fake propaganda". You should all be ashamed.
I am infuriated at the fact that for 5 months, our evidence and word isn't enough for Anti-Zionists. Here is some undeniable proof for you.
Believe Jewish Women.

GhostF*ckers and Why I fell out of interest for Helluva Boss - End of Helluva Boss Rewrites
Lately I have fell out of interest with the show for a long while but watching 'GhostF*ckers' just further confirms that I do not care for this story anymore. The Stolitz plotline was loathsome, the execution of the conflict between Millie and Blitzo felt too hollow and tbh, felt more like something from a kid show than an adult show to me. Millie, while it's nice that they attempted to give her more character, it's still a bit disappointing that she's still serves to support Blitzo throughout the episode and the most damaging of the writing is: Time. This episode was just bad at managing it's time that despite being 30 minutes, the conflict felt rushed and too fast-paced. Instead of letting itself breathe in order for the audience to immerse themselves in it before the final payoff, helluva instead rushes straight to finishing it. Thus, resulting how this show lost me. And I'm getting the feeling that the show will continue to lose me further and further that it will become unwatchable (and this episode was already unwatchable to an extent.) so because of that, this would be the end of Helluva Boss Rewrites. I'm glad people like my rewrites and I'm sorry that it won't be around anymore. I cannot force myself to rewrite scenes that I do not care about, scenes from a show and story that strays me away from it further. It wouldn't just affect me, but also my writing because how can your rewrites not fall on a decline eventually like this show's writing if you can't be interested in it any longer? I figure that I should inform all of you now rather than do it later.
I wouldn't do any rewrites for this show anymore although I would like to post about my own writing and stories exclusive to helluva if anyone is interested (maybe even stories inspired by helluva to an extent) idk from here or another account though.
To send off this end of rewrites, I would like to reccommend shows that are either adult shows, indie shows or resemble helluva boss to an extent. While I haven't kept up with much media with my forgetfulness and education, I still have a list that I hope you'd be interested:
Black Lagoon - A businessman got kidnapped by a gang of pirates and now after being written off dead by his boss, he joins the gang and their escapades. If you like action especially with guns, this show is definitely for you. It has an interesting premise, great action scenes and has interesting conflicts so far. I haven't completed the series yet but so far, it's pretty good.
Arcane - I know it's a popular recommendation for adult animated media but it is REALLY good in how it's written with fantastic animation plus s2 just came out this month. Give it a watch. Plus caitlyn x vi are a well-written version of social class that stolitz failed to acknowledged or try to do.
Michiko and Hatchin - A woman attempts to find her lover with a young girl, Hatchin, she took from her adopted home as she's the daughter of her lover. If you had issues with how helluva writes women, this show would be great for you as it not only aims at adult women but the women characters themselves are developed rawly throughout the show. It's a very underated anime, I recommend giving it a watch.
TADC (The amazing digital circus) - Another popular recommendation but it's a dark comedy that manages to balance it's comedic and emotional moments well alongside having a clear identity that works for itself.
Smiling friends - If you want an office animated adult comedy, this one would be great for you too. While it's not a dark comedy, it's absurdist comedy is still hilarious to watch and both seasons are relatively short for you to complete.
I wanna eat your guts/Shockwave animation - IWEYG is an animated show of 18 year old high schoolers who tried to explore their lives as teens and legal adults at the same time during the 2000s. It's not out yet but the premise and artstyle resembles 90s cartoons which could be appealing if your interested (like me). Even if it's not, Shockwave animation is an upcoming indie animated studio that's already got a couple of projects under their belt. Please go visit their website and support them whenever you can. There might be projects you would be interested in.
I also apologise for not answering anons or asks. It's partially due to forgetfullness and school life. If you like to send me any complaints regarding helluva or rewrite ideas, I would try to answer back when I can but keep in mind that I'm currently busy with my education so it would take a lot more longer.

i said this on twitter but ill say it here too just because
i hate how silco was written
just bear with me
if silco and vander were friends with felicia, close friends at that, he was probably around when the girls were born. at LEAST, when vi was born. i mean felicia told them both at the same time, vander helped pick a name right in front of him, he agreed to help make zaun a better place for those girls.
and maybe he and vander had a fall out due to clashing interests in how to go about piltover (though i find this unlikely), but their real fight only happened after felicia died in the war at the bridge, as vander stated in his letter to silco. a letter which also implies that they could have gone back to being close (as they do in the powder timeline).
this all makes sense to believe that silco knew the girls, and helped raise them. however young they were, he was around. and despite his fight with vander, the powder timeline also tells us that he wasnt SO resentful that he would abandon them forever.
so why? WHY in hell did silco consider killing both vi and powder when he kidnapped vander?
he was okay with killing vi with his shimmer monster and all his other goons, and only wanted her as a weapon later. he considered killing powder with a knife when he found her near vander's body. he called her "little girl", as if he didnt know her. both her and vi knew about silco's abd vander's ex friendship. at least later on in life, they did. if they didnt they definitely would be more surprised by finding their stuff together and the letter.
still, s1 silco acts like he doesnt know the girls. considers killing them, or using them. as if jinx only grew on him later on and wasnt someone he already knew.
i feel as if the writers wanted to make a "big bad guy" out of him in s1, and didnt have the full scope of his moral compass and background in mind when doing it. he is inarguably made to be the villain, and they did it all to try and make him the worst possible, so that when he "turned out to actually love jinx and do things for her good" it would be more of a surprise to the audience.
except s2 breaks all of that. and its not to say i dont like his backstory, or him as a character. he was definitely one of my favorites since i first watched years ago, and i was so sad when he died. but if they intended on bringing him so close to vander, and at such a point in time too (because he could have been friends with vander BEFORE felicia, and then they had their fall out), why write him so detached in the first place?
not to mention, the reason why he and vander fought is left to interpretation for the most part. we have implications: that it was after the war; that they had conflicts of interest; that both of them were very shocked by felicia's death. and we also have others: that had he read the letter vander left him, they might have become friends again; that he wasnt SUCH a terrible person as to not forgive his closest friend.
but it is very confusing what the intentions were with his character and backstory, and it makes me sad because it could have been so much better.

What do you think about people comparing catra to Caitlyn from arcane
ah, i had a feeling i'd be asked about something along these lines.
okay, so, just to get this out of the way:
i'm aware that Arcane s2 has very polarizing opinions, points of views, and thoughts from the community, and, provided it's nothing extreme, they're all valid. though my words are largely subjective, i want to apply as much objectivity as possible to create a better picture, rather than complete bias with no desire for discussion.
s2, in my opinion, wasn't as well-written as it could've been. i don't hate it, but i would've made different writing choices for the characters, their arcs, etc., and i feel the ending was lackluster as a result of lack of closure. this includes Jinx's own ending, Isha, Vi's cycle of self-destruct and complicated family, and how i feel there was not enough screentime for the plots and characters given, especially Ekko, Mel, Kino, and Ambessa. and i do feel like the writing choices negatively affected Caitlyn's character, as well, even if i do understand and sympathize with her as a person.
objectively speaking, Caitlyn's dictatorship ( i believe that's what it is, iirc ) was more on-screen than Catra's, but Catra's crimes was heavier, quantity wise, including universal genocide.
because of SPOP's disregard for "show, don't tell", amongst several other factors ( Catra being a creator's pet being the main one ), there is little to no actual weight to her actions, even with the main cast. if there is consequences, it's either more personal than it should be, her mental breakdowns or Horde Prime chipping her, or fleeting, the destruction of Salineas. this is likely why people don't care much for Catra's actions, because there's no legitimate consequences that aren't just her being sad // distressed.
but, while not the best, Arcane writers take into consideration the impact of and to the people. Caitlyn's decisions did have consequences, and it affected more than just her. it changed Zaun, and with Silco and Jinx's absence, the people were anxious and needing a beacon in order to feel safe and empowered.
however, i don't think it's as simple as comparing Caitlyn to Catra.
in the eyes of the people, it wouldn't matter, obviously. as a result of taking her grief and thirst for vengeance out on them, the people of Zaun felt even more unsafe when they were already suffering.
but to us, as the audience, we can empathize with grief blinding us and leading us to making poor decisions that end up being detrimental to our and everyone else's health. keyword: empathize.
Caitlyn still hurt people. there is no denying that. i am simply saying that we can understand where she was coming from and that her grief was taken advantage of by Ambessa.
to their world, it's black and white. people suffer and // or die at the hands of someone in power.
to us, it's more or less than that.
still wanting to remain as objective i can be, i will say Caitlyn's are far easier to remember and hold against her, and rightfully so. but i believe that Catra's are worse and should've been displayed as worse, rather than stated or turned around to be a way for us to feel bad for her own downfalls.
now, let's move onto Caitlyn and Vi // Catra and Adora.
like with the season, i prefer s1 CaitVi over s2.
for me, the divide and conflict felt too similar to how their relationship originally started out and was too repetitive. it felt like the writers wanted another reason for them to break apart, when there was a lot of time spent to them forming together.
but i think CaitVi has more room to grow than C // A ever really did.
for one, Caitlyn and Vi have cared for each other more than they've hurt each other. even when they were at odds in s1, there was no point in the story where they left one or the other to die. if something bad happened, it was by circumstance, not by choice.
but Catra had always hurt Adora more than she cared for her. from physically harming her to degrading her, engaging in extreme sadism, and nearly killing her, purposefully, on multiple occasions, there's no actual evidence that Catra deeply cares for Adora, or that she cared to begin with.
for another, Caitlyn had more reason than Catra. Catra was given multiple chances to make better choices, but she never did and it was intentional and out of spite.
what was Caitlyn going to do with the fact her mother was killed, that her girlfriend's sister was the murderer, and that her girlfriend stopped her from doing from killing the culprit because she thought she'd kill a kid instead?
of course, it was highly likely that she would've killed Isha. again, blinded by grief. but Caitlyn didn't think that way. in her mind, she has more evidence of being an excellent shot than not, so, obviously, the possibility of her killing the child was 0, right?
( and i don't think Caitlyn cheated on Vi with Maddie. i read the end of their argument as a break-up, especially because Vi disappeared. )
and, for one last thing, even when she knew Vi didn't trust her and kept fighting with her, Caitlyn still tried to help.
overall, i think CaitVi did have a... meh(?) ending, but i still prefer them over C // A. if nothing else, for the foundation.
i don't think Caitlyn and Catra are the same. i just think the Arcane writers had more respect for their audience than SPOP did.

Arcane is over (😭) and I have some criticisms so here are my lists of who Won and who Lost in no particular order
LOST SEASON 2
1. Isha
Literally wasn't even mentioned after she died, like wtf was that
We couldn't have a memorial or anything? Come on
Her sacrifice was ultimately meaningless because Warwick got brought back anyway
2. Sevika
Didn't get a single line through all of Act 3
Where is my wife
At least she didn't die?
3. The entire Undercity, to be honest
Where did the independence thread go
Giving Sevika a council seat wasn't enough
I don't like that so many of them had to fight in Enforcer uniforms, that felt wrong
That was the MAIN CONFLICT for most of the show. It felt so weird to gloss over it at the end
4. Vander/Warwick
Gonna be real I wasn't super crazy about most of his presence here, I don't feel like it actually contributed much to anyone's development, except MAYBE Viktor's
We would not have lost anything if they didn't have the flashback scene with their mom
Super didn't like Jinx's ending as it pertained to him
5. Jinx
Hey I super don't like that every character who had a moment of suicide ideation or attempt ended up dead or "dead"
I don't like the way she "died" it didn't feel earned
I don't feel like the ending she got aligned well with her character at all. She spiraled and then just. stayed at the bottom of the spiral :(
They put a TON of family stuff in act 1 and 2 that didn't get resolution in 3
I think they kinda did my girl dirty I'm sorry
6. Loris
Clearly would have had more of a role if they didn't have to cut him for time
NEITHER WON NOR LOST SEASON 2
1. Vi
I want to say she won because she got to bang her cop girlfriend in a prison cell and the sex scene was good as hell but
She also was just taking massive L's the whole time
Like it never felt like she ever had any real wins other than that and that bummed me out
Didn't get enough time to be a dumbfuck with Jayce :(
Caitlyn
Didn't get enough proper resolution for her wonderful fascist arc
She felt a little dropped in Act 3 as well
Glad she got that Vussy tho, good for her
And I did like the vs Ambessa fight, that was also good
I honestly feel like Viktor and Jayce's romance was written better than her and Vi's, and as a gay woman who is constantly watching mlm relationships get so much more attention, it rubs me the wrong way
WON SEASON 2
1. Viktor (OBVIOUSLY)
The fucked up robot army. The religious imagery. The body horror. His robot alien design is scary as fuck. Absolutely incredible work
Got to be taller and stronger than Jayce hooray
They're canon. That was the gayest shit I've ever seen in my life
I do wish they had spent more time overall fleshing out more of the disability commentary, I feel like it was a little lacking in the end
Nevertheless BEAUTIFUL and HORRIFYING and TRAGIC
2. Jayce
See above
Yeah he also got to be a big hero and got to be resolved really well
Did NOT see his death coming that was crazy
They Magnus 200'd his ass, damn
He chose Viktor over everything I'm emo
They made a heart when they touched their foreheads together fuck OFF
3. Heimerdinger
Literally just living his best life
Love that he didn't tell Ekko he can't die, he just let the poor boy think he got fuckin atomized, king shit, that's hilarious
I would have stayed in that universe too tbh
4. Ambessa
The single tear over Kino. Her love for her children at direct odds with her need for control. Her arc was explored so well
Died a warrior's death at the hands of her brilliant daughter, I know that's how she would have wanted to go
Also was very hot in every scene. Good for her (and good for me)
She just got a lot of love from the writers and I'm very happy to see that effort put into an older Black woman character
5. Mel
Speaking of gorgeous Black women
I was so worried she was going to get dropped but her ending was SO good
Her glow up with the gold is fantastic, she looks amazing in the white hood
Love that they gave her abilities that would inherently change her priorities AND gave her the throne of Noxus, I have high hopes that she'll be prominent in another show in the future
They made her such a powerful badass but still let her be merciful and forgiving. Absolutely amazing. She is the wolf
6. Ekko (?)
On the fence about him
LOVED the au scene. Perfect
And I loved that our boy savior got to be the one that set off the bomb that stopped Viktor
But he was kind of dropped otherwise? Like what happened with his tree?
Generally wish he had more development and screentime in this season
But I'm happy he was so pivotal to the climax
AND I'm happy he got to kiss Powder. He and Jinx would never have worked out
7. Maddie
Haha I never liked you. Get fucked you horrible little bootlicker. Typical cop
8. Singed
How come YOU get everything you want?
Fuck you.
Basically all my criticisms boil down to it feeling rushed overall. It's clear that they intended to have more time, and that breaks my heart. We all know Netflix's reputation for cancelling stuff out of the blue, and I've heard that maybe certain parties were unhappy with the depictions of gay romance and realistic social revolution. Whatever the reasons, I wish they had a third season, because I think they could have solved every problem I have with it. Regardless, it's an incredible work of art and very likely one of if not THE best animated series ever made.

timebomb highschool au
(part 4)
(pt1) (pt2) (pt3) (read on ao3)
description: timebomb highschool au pretty much sums it up lol. there’s also canon storylines (vander death, vi conflict etc.) but translated into a modern context
Tumblr media
When Ekko is leaving the mall, he puts his hands in his pockets and feels his finger catch on a small piece of paper. He pulls it out to see blocky writing spelling out a phone number with Jinx # (: written underneath.
How did she slip that in there?
He takes out his skateboard from where he hid it, in a corner behind the mall, and skates back through town. He keeps getting lost, even after being here for over a week. He just can’t get used to it here.
Ekko stops at a skate park and sits down at the top of a ramp, pulling out his phone from his back pocket. It’s plain, just a simple black case, but he likes it that way.
He finds himself pulling out the piece of paper again, staring at the number on it.
And then, before he realizes what he’s doing, he’s typing a message to that number.
Ekko: hey
He curses at himself in his head. Just hey? She’s not even going to know who’s texting her.
Her response comes almost immediately.
Jinx: hiiiiiii
Ekko stares at the message, wondering if those are what he once heard referred to as a ‘flirty amount of i’s’.
Ekko: it’s Ekko.
Jinx: obviously
Jinx: its jinx.
He stares at his phone screen once again, trying to read the tone of her texts.
Jinx: see???? it’s redundant
Jinx: we both know who it is
Ekko: uh right yeah lol
Jinx’s typing bubble takes longer, and Ekko starts to get nervous. Just when he’s about to put the phone down, her text comes through.
Jinx: damn I thought you’d be less awkward over text
Jinx: do I make u nervous or smth
His cheeks start to burn, reading her texts over and over. He wasn’t trying to be awkward, he wasn’t really like that, it’s just…
Ekko puts a hand over his eyes, hiding his red tinted face. He tries to remind himself he just met her, it’s not like he’s that into her, she’s just an attractive girl.
So why was he so awkward around her?
Ekko: don’t give yourself too much credit
Jinx: ((;
Jinx: don’t get urself too worked up over me, pretty boy
Ekko’s eyes widen, staring at the screen and swallowing. Pretty boy!? That’s…a new one. A very hard one to respond to, and Jinx seems to know it, considering she beats him to it.
Jinx: see u at skool ekko !!
Jinx: (:
He spends an embarrassingly long amount of time staring at their messages, comparing the winky face to the smiley face, and trying to decipher her possibly flirty tone.
He skates until his dark to clear his head. He shouldn’t be thinking about text messages this long, or anything she said, flirty undertone or not. She was just some girl he barely knew.
But she was flirting, right? Ekko skates along the sidewalk, staring at the slowly sinking sun casting orange and pink rays over his face, and considering how else to interpret those messages.
Embarrassing as it was, Ekko had never had a girlfriend before. Or anything even close really.
But Jinx was not his girlfriend, and she was definitely not into him like that. His stupid mind just wouldn’t shut up.
He pulls over his skateboard at a gas station, stopping to tie his shoelace that had somehow come undone, even with being double knotted.
He sits on the bricked wall outside the gas station, tying his shoe with force, trying to make sure it actually stayed this time. The scent of cigarette smoke reached his nose, inducing an almost headache, and he looked up to see the strangest thing.
The school receptionist, smoking a cigarette on the wall.
Ekko stared at her for a little too long, caught up in his shock, while his shoelace stayed half tied.
Sevika looked over. “Can I help you, kid?” Her eyebrow raised and she took another drag of her cigarette.
“No, sorry.” Ekko whipped his head back down, focusing on tying his shoe.
Sevika tilted her head, looking at him closer. “You go to Zaun Highschool?”
He nods, still not looking at her.
“You’re that new kid.” She snorts. “Ekko, eh?”
He nods silently again.
“Came back out to get gas after dropping Jinx at home. She wouldn’t shut up about you.”
Ekko froze. Jinx was…talking about him?
His mind reeled, trying to unpack that unloaded sentence; why was his school receptionist the one dropping Jinx at home? Why was Jinx talking about him?
“Kinda weird, cause she went there to meet-“ Sevika cut herself off, putting her cigarette back in her mouth. “Probably shouldn’t be spilling all this to you, kid.”
Ekko looks back up at her, watching as she puts out her cigarette and walks back to her car, parked in front of one of the gas pumps.
She doesn’t say goodbye.
Ekko gets back on his skateboard, his shoelace tied as best as he could get it, and considered the strangeness of his gruff school receptionist.
He thinks about a certain girl with blue hair for longer than he could ever admit.

small rant abt season 2??
one of the things i see MOST recently is the debate on whether or not one character is justified or whether or not liking a character is well.. understandable. personally, for me, I love all the characters. whether or not they are warmongering manipulative dictators, cranky scientists chasing their dreams, or fighters blinded by grief. i feel as if they all have their reasons for being them, Caitlyn becoming a general; not only through manipulation but through the way she is blinded by her loss and grief, wanting to GENUINELY make a change. Vi becoming a pit-fighter? She's lost everything and had to beat up her sister (who she still cares so much about) four times and fall in love with someone who tossed themselves and their relationship into an abyss for the wrong path of the future. now what some of these characters do isn't good at ALL! Caitlyn flooding the lanes with toxic gas to seize Jinx was HORRIBLE and watching her fall to that choice appalled me, but as a character, that's who SHE has become. a woman so blinded in her ways from grief and conflict that she has no choice but to see that pathway to the future as the RIGHT one. most characters seem to support her, and by that I mean most of the season two side cast apart from a very small amount. now this is only because she and many other characters have had their mindset clouded through the conflict of topside v bottom. my girl seems to NEVER GET A REST!! liking these characters is completely understandable, they are all loveable for other things than just their actions. i love ambessa's character, the ways shes written and the way she is to the world, but of course her acts in a moral standpoint are horrible and unforgivable in various senses. i adore caitlyn, even as she stands above piltover with an iron fist as a puppet, but in no way will she be a good person this next act. losing her mother, a memorial ceremony for her being attacked, having to take up a mantle she was far from ready to take, the topside in RUIN? if she hadn't taken the offer from Ambessa I would've been a bit confused! whilst of course what she will do and what she has already will not be good or happy in the slightest, or that the position of general/commander of the enactment of martial law upon the city was one that she sought out, it was given to her. she was given the key to the door that she believes will solve these problems. we all know it won't.. but I believe she will eventually reach that point where she realises that "This isn't right." and the conflict that will happen in act two will be blamed on her, especially as she will be a puppet of ambessa. (in my opinion I just CANT WAIT!!! i really wanna see all the characters again and how the civil strife will all play out especially caitlyn with, realistically, two armies at her disposal, OH YES AND JINX BECOMING A SYMBOL!! AHHH)

so uhhhh watched act iii yet. what do you think.
Tumblr media
I was keeping track of which leaks turned out to be true because I saw people say these CANNOT be real because it's so ass and well i think that person was for the people like they are a whistle-blower. this was a warning
Tumblr media
*there's something hysterical in the thesis that if hextech wasn't invented eventually we would all be rich. there's something so liberal about it idk. like a statement on assimilation or whatever
*heimerdinger saying he waited for ekko all that fuck ass time and then sacrificjgg himself for him...... I'm sorry who the fuck said christian linke projects on ekko and ships himself with heimer
*not vi being dead in the good reality. she was born to suffer ig
*not jinx living in some fuckass dwelling even in her good reality, she's just meant to live in someone's basement
*first of all the way when jayce had hextech he invented capitalism and when ekko and jinx had it they went back in time???? that's a statement somehow
*jinx has such ariana grande proportions like she needs a volume of hair to cover the fact that her head is so huge and she's so tiny
*the way time travel to these two is like an invention you show off at a party like they invented facebook. this world building is crazy
*I shockingly didn't even mind timebomb I can't lie, I'm not even mad. I'll find something to complain about later like idk the way they git torn apart by the invention of capitalism (by jayce) makes me giggle
*mel is like the most beautiful animated character ever I'm sorry and now she has magic??? this storyline kind of feels so detached at times but also it was so perfectly to my taste that I enjoyed it regardless. I'm fuckung OBSESSED with the dynamics between mel and her mother and I would watch this slowly unfold in a 20 episode season instead of being introduced through exposition
*viktor is so hot this season, they really ate that twink
*unfortunately the way jinxs storyline makes no sense bleeds into caitvi and caitlyns storyline so it's not really well done yk. but it feel like fanservice for a very specific type of a lesbian and I'm that lesbian. caitlyn is so beautiful and drama is so high like I kind of ate it up like I'm sorry I am watching with my pussy rn
*everyone was so hot acc. caitlyn had me mewling like cats in spring, jayce did get hot, jinx was so pretty this act
*the way jinx was like I didn't know your mom was there and that's it, okay bitch you still killed people. like the way she really perceives only emotional conflict and not moral or anything I fuck with that
*I have to just once again reiterate. caitlyns storyline and caitvi, and vis storyline too acc, were not well written and they need more seasons. however the bare bones were so hot
*this act made me realise that silco loves to say a bunch of nothing
*I mean this plot is just nonsensical the way we just held hands and sang kumbaya to solve poverty. everything solved by a speech cause we got limited as hell screen time. it's giving kendall pepsi commercial
*also they started a whole war in the time it took for vi to get out of that fucking cell
*caitvi sex scene was fucking fantastic. in a prison cell, I'm cackling. the world might be a cruel place but I just watched lesbian pussy eating in a league of legends show so sometimes good things do happen
*it really is like the best female characters come from the most misogynistic places. when ambessa slapped mel I screamedddd
*I mean they desperately needed more time and seasons there's no hiding this fact but I think ideologically this would always be like this
*like they couldn't make it good but they did make it wild instead so I appreciate this
*I am kind of sad about caitvi not getting more time because there's so much bullshit in how the character choices had to align to get them to necessary plot points and they had to speed through a lot of development but man. at least caitlyn got her pussy ate
*I acc don't hate jinxs hair. I do hate her storyline but burning down the last drop was beautifully dramatic I deserved a whole season like this
*caitlyns gotten the most pussy across this show I need everyone to remember this
*caitlyn assassinating ambessa and when that bitch went "bold little one" I'm sorry they should have been scissoring too, we didn't need maddie. it would be funnier when caitlyn has to tell vi she was with someone else too like no you do care acc!! tho caitlyn getting betrayed by a fling and almost executed is hot girl activities. like shes just my little female fantasy character
*jinx didn't get shit in writing but at least she got some cunt back. but oh my god the way her arc did nothing like both her and vi, for main characters esoecially, really adjust to the most nonsensical plot
*ambessa just got a mess of a season to be evil in like she couldn't live up to silco in s1 as a villain. I will be thinking about her and caitlyn touching each other tho. and then mel killing her??? incredible work ill cry over what could have been if it was good
*caitlyn losing an eye and getting an eyepatch girl you know this one is made for me
*mels mage lil look being just quite literally just lingerie and like one of those cheap sets you get from sex shops that come in a bag, just to remind you what game this show was born of. not that I'll hold it against her as a kai'sa main
*hollered when jayce told viktor there's beauty in imperfection mf he was dying
*I bet jinxs death scene could eat 8
in a show that isn't this. but this was so ass like the whole storyline was just ass so this doesn't feel like silos death where it's like obviously you don't want a bitch to die but it makes absolute sense for the character. this is just dumb
*I KNOW I SAID IT BUT AGAIN this show will try to fix anything through a speech I swear to fucking god. arcane believes these two cities just needed to go to couples therapy
*caitlyns so sexy with an eyepatch. like she just is. this was the highlight of the season, that caitlyn needed this fuck ass arc to get super hot

Jon Snow - King in the North?
One of the open questions of TWOW/ADOS is whether Jon Snow will ever become King in the North, as in Game of Thrones and in Robb's will. Now the KitN point in the show was extremely sloppily done - Jon didn't really accomplish anything with it, and some people suspect that the show simply gave Jon Stannis Baratheon's book function - and unlike "Stannis burns Shireen" or "Bran becomes king" it's not one of the moments-from-the book we know of, but given the show's tendency to write "moments" without a solid foundation just because they occur in the future books it's not ruled out. There are also some references by Mormont's raven and elsewhere that compare Jon to a king.
That said, I find it improbable. The first big problem is Stannis Baratheon. He's never going to abide a new King in the North, as he makes clear to Catelyn and Davos in ACOK. Jon Snow is effectively a Stannis supporter in ADWD, as we can see from e.g the way he calls him "the king" without qualifiers to Alys Karstark and tries to warn him about Arnolf Karstark. I doubt that he'd try to usurp Stannis. And crucially, Stannis has a lot of plot armour/guaranteed survival going in to TWOW/ADOS - unlike the show, Shireen has been left at the Wall and there is no way she could reach Stannis at Winterfell before his army starves to death, so we know he has to survive. And while we've seen with the Edric Storm affair in ASOS that Stannis is prepared to sacrifice a child to stop the Long Night, until the Long Night is actually underway I doubt that he'll give his only child to stop it. Lastly, Stannis being Azor Ahai is one of the lies Daenerys must slay, not the Boltons or Jon. Him dying before ADOS is an exceedingly unlikely prospect.
Second, there are a lot of political obstacles to Jon Snow becoming King in the North. While Robb's will almost certainly legitimized him, there is no evidence that a written copy of the will survived the Red Wedding and the Grand Northern Conspiracy is not a thing. All what he'd have is Maege Mormont's and Galbart Glover's word, since all other witnesses are trapped south of the Neck/in Iron Throne ally custody - and oh yeah, they are with Howland Reed who knows that Jon is not Ned's son. Also, the will assumed that Bran and Rickon were dead and Sansa in the power of the Lannisters; they aren't, and this is going to come out in TWOW between Davos' mission and Bran revealing himself in the crofters' village, complicating Northern politics as all these candidates have advantages and disadvantages over Jon. It's also unclear whether Northern independence is actually strongly supported in the North after the Red Wedding - we don't have much evidence of patriotic fervour in ACOK and ASOS, let alone in the history of the North during the Targaryen dynasty, and the current movers-and-shakers in the North mostly weren't around for the war council in Riverrun where Robb's acclamation took place. Their attitudes might be very negotiable. And as for the notion of Jon being acclaimed like in the show after defeating the Boltons - that's extremely unlikely in the books for sundry logistical and thematic reasons.
Speaking of, I think it's somewhat thematically unsound for a story where per GRRM the "true conflict is north of the Wall" and where Osha tells Bran that Robb is marching in the wrong direction, to suddenly champion the cause of Northern independence. Stannis, not Robb, is still alive at the end of ASOS. A coalition between wildlings, Starks, Team Stannis and small-o others - later joined by Daenerys and Tyrion as future dragonriders - is way more likely in my opinion.*
Vis-a-vis Jon Snow, there is also the question of how KitN fits into his character arc. He has already declined Stannis' offer of Winterfell in ASOS, making a tilt in TWOW might be repetitive. His story in TWOW is likely going to head to a resurrection, the Stark Family Reunion, the R+L=J reveal and (eta: in ADOS - see conversation with @jackoshadows) becoming a dragonrider (two of them must be Targaryens), probably also an identity crisis - KitN seems more like a detour, especially as the timeline does not leave much time for anything else. Abandoning the fight against the Others for political games in the North only to return to fighting the Others would be questionable storytelling.
Credit to @nobodysuspectsthebutterfly @poorquentyn @turtle-paced for inspiration/citations.
*Or a very dark possibility: Northern separatists try to force Jon's (or someone else's) accession by fighting with Stannis ... only to be taken in the rear by the Others when the Horn of Joramun brings the Wall down and their attempt to end in catastrophe as their armies are smashed between Others and pro-Stannis troops. The fiefs of the most pro-independence Northerners we've seen - Lyanna Mormont (OK, she's way down the Mormont succession order), Greatjon Umber and Robett Glover - are also the closest to the Wall, discounting the mountain clans, and thus closest to the "firing line". That might be a set-up to such a tragedy.

Arcane S2E8
I have been warned the sex scene jumpscare is in this one.
Oh hey, Mel! It's been a while. While I'm glad she's not dead, she's felt like an afterthought for much of this season. Tbh I probably would've had her in a coma for the full season, giving Ambessa and Caitlyn an even stronger absent daughter/absent mom connection, and then woken her up or had her abducted in the finale to set up a season 3 where she gets to be a main focus. Rn the season is overstuffed. But maybe everything will come together.
She just went super Saiyan.
Jayce is seeing everyone as a threat and it's ambiguous or just unclear how much is trauma and how much is weird magic possession. Same for Viktor. IDK if it's *meant* to be ambiguous or it's just not clearly written.
Toxic possession yaoi
"You deserve to be with her." Why would she say that after Caitlin put her city through military rule for several months
Wait how is Sevika in the council chamber now. Wasn't she last on the run from the enforcers
Are they just entirely abandoning the class conflict plot now that there's a robot army. I mean I guess nothing unifies a population like a DIFFERENT population you can unperson but that's not really something I'd set to stirring music, it's a common strategy by the privileged to keep the less privileged satisfied with scraps
Oh is this our sex scene. Did Vi shower between waking up after an unspecified period of time in recovery and visiting her sister. I'm distressed about hygiene rn. I doubt they clean these cells very often
"I don't fucking care." Did Caitlyn ever break up with Maddie or is Maddie meant to just take the hints of her obvious disinterest
Well we'll see how this ends but I anticipate having #thoughts on Viktor and disability after the finale. It's not like I was expecting this to end well.
In fact while most character trajectories are more or less as expected, I feel like the show is really struggling with its 9 episode format. Caitlyn going back to Vi, Jinx becoming a hero, Mel getting magic powers and turning on her mother, Viktor going full transhumanist… you saw them coming (even if only because the show clearly wanted it, not necessarily that it made sense for the characters), but they get triggered too quickly and easily, the show relying on us expecting and accepting those twists rather than properly earning them. It's a shame

Hello, I hope you’re having a good day. I really enjoy hearing your opinions and always love reading your thoughts on Arcane.
I’m sorry if my English isn’t perfect; it’s not my first language, but I’m working on it!
I would love to know your thoughts on the following conclusions that some people have reached regarding Vi and Cait:
The relationship between Vi and Cait is considered toxic.
2. It has an oppressor x oppressed dynamic, which was poorly written and ruined its development in this season.
3. Vi deserves someone better because she forgave Cait too quickly. Additionally, Cait never really apologized or faced the consequences of her actions. It is also mentioned that her redemption arc was not strong enough.
4. Vi betrayed her people, renounced what she used to be, and her ideals for Cait, in part because of the guilt she felt. This led her to join the people responsible for many of her misfortunes.
5. The relationship between Cait and Vi was considered unnecessary and didn’t contribute anything significant to the story, and was also very rushed.
I also saw an interesting tweet about the class differences between Cait and Vi, mentioning how Cait was comfortable in a luxurious room, being consoled, while Vi slept in a small room, struggling and drinking with everything that was happening to her, highlighting their contrasts even more.
What do you think about the characters of Vi and Cait specifically in this season?
I always enjoy reading your analysis, and they help me see things from a different perspective.
Hi!
Don't worry, your English is great and your ask is very clear :D
So, I don't think Caitvi is toxic. I think some people were let down by how the theme of classism was handled and since this theme ties with Caitvi, they ended up disliking the ship as a result.
In short:
I think it is a fair criticism to discuss how the series handled the theme of classism and its repercussion on Caitvi, as a ship
I don't think this means Caitvi should be read as toxic and imo such a reading ignores the characters' interactions on screen
So, the problem with Caitvi is that their relationship is meant to explore classism:
Cait is from Piltover
Vi is from Zaun
By falling in love with each other, the two girls manage to overcome each other's prejudices.
At the same time, Cait is very important for Vi's personal arc. Vi needs to accept change both in others and in herself. This happens thanks to:
Vi forging a new relationship with Cait (future)
Vi letting go of Jinx (past) and accepting her sister as her own person
Basically, their ship has a double layer. The problem is that the first layer (classism) is abandoned mid-way (mid-act 2 of season 2). So, it ends up mattering very little by the end, after having been built up for 2/3 of the series.
This happens because, as I wrote, the conflict between the two cities goes from being the A plot to becoming the C plot. So, the characters and themes explored by this conflict are de-powered and simplified.
I think a good example of this shift is given by Jinx and Cait's confrontation in act 3. Cait and Jinx's conflict is reduced to Jinx killing Cait's mother. Jinx tells Cait she did not know Cassandra would die and Cait eventually chooses to let Jinx go. Now, I actually like this confrontation. It is very personal and it is a moment of empathy from both characters. However, Cait and Jinx's conflict is more than just Cassandra's death. Sure, Cassandra is an important component of it, just like Jinx's jealousy over Vi was another in season 1. However, Cait and Jinx's hate for each other is rooted in the broader animosity between Zaun and Piltover:
Cait sees Jinx as a terrorist killing enforcers and possibly civilians in her city
Jinx sees Cait as an enforcer, like those who killed her parents and tormented her
This element is completely removed from their meeting in act 3. Cait is never called out by Jinx or Vi because of her oppression of Zaun. Similarly, Jinx never faces the consequences of having destroyed a chance of peace for the two cities by attacking the Council in season 1.
Cait's spiral is simply blamed on Ambessa and Cait gets over it. Jinx is instead crowned the hero of Zaun with no-one highlighting her actions in season 1 actually de-stabilized Zaun (her killing Silco) and fucked over the city's independence (her destroying the council). Everything ends up not mattering. Now, the storyline we end up with is not terrible, but it is an oversimplification of the original one. In general:
If you start with a complex story, which gets over-simplified by the end, people will feel betrayed
If you start with a simple story, which progressively becomes more complex, people will be admired
If your story has a consistent level of complexity, people will be satisfied
Arcane started as complex and in the end embraced some simple solutions, at least when it comes to the exploration of classism. This is why imo some people were unhappy with it.
When it comes to Cait and Vi's love story the same can be said. People were expecting Cait's spiral in act 1 to matter more and to be used to explore Cait's prejudices against Zaun. However, Cait overcomes her flaws pretty quickly once she is given some time to grieve and her most bigoted side never comes up again. Thinking about how the narrative ended up being, maybe they should have toned down the classism commentary in act 1, since they did not have the time to properly dive into it later on.
That said, despite these flaws, I still think Caitvi is not toxic, as I wrote in the beginning. In particular, I disagree with Cait not doing enough for Vi's sake.
In act 2, Cait is given a choice: Ambessa or Vi and she chooses Vi without any doubts. I don't understand why people downplay this choice. By choosing Vi, Cait risks literally everything. She chooses to let a potential dangerous weapon (Warwick) go simply because he is Vi's father. Let's remember that Cait loses her mother because she doesn't immediately shoot Jinx out of love for Vi. It is this sense of guilt that comes between the two girls in act 1:
Vi feels guilty because her sister hurt Cait
Cait feels guilt over not shooting Jinx immediately out of her love for Vi
This is why both girls end up acting out of character in act 1. Cait acts as the cruel enforcers she swore not to be. Vi enabled Cait's behavior instead of calling her out, as she should have. This ends up with them breaking up.
In act 2, the strength of their bond is tested. Vi asks Cait once again to act outside the law for her family, like in season 1. Cait chooses to do so, even if this costed her a lot in season 1. As a result, Cait ends up being almost killed by Rictus, losing the chance to secure Warwick (who then goes berserk), betraying Ambessa. All of this is also why the situation devolves into a war between Piltover and Noxus. Basically, the narrative asks Cait if she would love Vi, despite it all and Cait says yes. If this were not enough, Cait even lets Jinx go after this. She is given the choice to either kill or keep Jinx a prisoner forever. However, Cait chooses to let her go because she knows how much this is important for Vi. By doing so, Cait is basically telling Vi she loves her no matter what. I really don't see how this is toxic tbh. In general, despite the classist aspect being downplayed... I think Cait's arc is pretty well done tbh.
When it comes to Vi, I think this is where the narrative fucks up a little bit. As I have stated in another meta, Jinx having to fake-kill herself for Vi to end up with Cait ends up kinda ruining any arc Vi has tbh. Vi lacks a proper conclusion, as she is not given the chance to actively let go of Jinx. Apart from that, sure the comment on classism is removed from Vi's arc, as well. This removal is where all the critics you listed come from, after all. The difference with Cait is that imo Cait's personal arc is still strong enough, despite the classism commentary being gone. Vi's personal arc is instead fucked over by its ending.
So, both Cait and Vi's arcs are re-focused on a more personal story-line (Will Cait forgive Jinx for Vi's sake? Will Vi let go of Jinx and move on?). I think Cait's one works well, whereas Vi's not so much. I also personally think Cait's climax is more satisfying than Vi's. After all, Cait manages to set her score with Ambessa and helps Mel defeating her. In this way, she is breaking free from Ambessa's manipulation once and for all, symbolically speaking.
In any case, both characters are probably not used to their utmost potential, as an important element of their premise (the social conflict) is left unexplored.
Finally, the tweet you mentioned is interesting, but it is not exactly correct:
Vi is in a small room and loses herself into drinking and fighting, sure. However, she is alone also because she pushes away the Big Enforcer, who resigned and followed her. We are shown him trying to care for her, but eventually he leaves her, after she lashes out on him.
Cait is in a big room, having love with Maddie, sure. However, it is eventually revealed Maddie is Ambessa's spy. Basically Ambessa seized the opportunity to manipulate Cait by preying on her grief. She did so in two ways: she becomes a mentor figure to her and she plants a spy into her bed. Basically, that scene is not Cait having a better support system than Vi because she is rich. If anything, it shows how lonely and vulnerable she really was. She lacked a support system so badly (her mom died, her father was MIA, Jayce and Mel were missing, Vi was gone) that Ambessa could easily create a fake one for her.
These are my two cents on the topic. Sorry if it is confusing :''')
Thank you for passing by and have a nice day!

PROMPT: Angels of Fumus with a human lover.
. . .
i. Taffy does not want to deal with inevitable heartbreak that comes with having a mortal lover. literally and figuratively, you are worlds apart and so, he keeps his heart closed. he's committed countless atrocities and sins and he wonders how he's still (un)mercifully living and breathing only because his god allows it. you find a confidant in him and he likes listening to you, in return he finds a friend in you and you console his grief to best of your ability, but that's as far as that'll go. it's for the best if he wants to keep you safe and out of reach from lord fumus.
ii. Yuu strays from romantic relationships generally, the chance of happiness is tempting but he resists the temptation for his own sake that would end up being ephemeral in any case. bringing you with him to his world is not an option, so he'll end up asking for advice from taffy – his closest friend and comrade – on the matter, though he has a feeling he already knows what kind of answer he will receive. he doesn't want you to cry over a caged bird like him, he leaves as many kisses on your face as needed until your tears have finally dried. "for... good luck," he'll tell you, not realizing it's the last you'll be seeing of his gentle, red eyes.
iii. Lei Hitotose cannot get enough of the wonder and awe you praise him with, asking how he manages moving around with those three huge wings ("wow, they're even soft like cotton!" you'll tell him) and trying to poke at his halo by standing on your tippy-toes. his sin is that he is self-indulgent to a fault, but he cares very little about it. he'll allow you to touch and pat him wherever you please, so long as he can return the favor with a 'curiosity' of his own by getting to fondle you – you can trust either way that this pervy seraph won't be keeping his hands to himself.
iv. Zero Hitotose reasons to himself he should focus on duty and mission above all else, but he's a fool in love and his mind drifts back to you, inevitably. he can live just fine without you, but he certainly doesn't want to. he's impulsive and not graceful in the slightest and always comes crash-landing out of the blue somewhere near your current location. you'll find him sprawled in a rose bush, and he's embarrassed out of his wits, but when you say you're laughing not at him, but because you're happy to see him, any regrets or second-guesses he had previously fade away in instant.
v. Engetsu may enjoy a little self-indulgent fling of his own, not at all shy to go after something that catches his eye. it's certainly fun for him too, to pretend to just be a normal boyfriend (who just enjoys crossdressing) that you have, to your family or friends, instead of an ethereal being from an entirely another world. he thinks some of them can probably sense something odd about him, those who are more susceptible to the otherworldly. yet at the end of it, he is still a realist through and thorough, knowing you won't be with him forever, as much as he does like you – amongst other complications and it's perhaps best to end it, but trust he'll give you something to remember him by; with long, passionate hours into the night in your room and clothes discarded on the floor.
vi. Fiore enjoys long conversations with you, how you see the world around you is so fundamentally different from his own, and your differing viewpoints keep his interest and attention. it's highly likely he can understand the language you speak, but you can't understand the writings and scripture that's written in the books in his world, so he would enjoy teaching you how to read it. it's undeniable by the feelings of deep affections he holds that it's more than friendship on his side. he doesn't visit often, but he writes letters. some of them are never sent. things he thinks should be said out loud, but won't (or can't) bring himself to do it.
vii. Inga never tells you of the violent conflicts and punishments he endures, but he doesn't always clean the blood and nurse the wounds effectively enough for you not to notice it anyway. he rarely talks about himself, preferring for you to do it instead. being in love with you is just being in another war with himself, and it's an easy victory (or defeat) to accept the hardship of loving someone so pure and worlds away from the source of all his pain. your presence to him is really the epitome of the phrase, "you gave me peace in a lifetime of war".
viii. realistically, Tsurugigozen has no interest in mingling with anyone that much of a lower status than himself. your unrequited yearning fuels his ego, but he keeps you at arms' length, not believing you to be worthy of him. yet he gets pissy when you lose interest due to his 'apathy' and he doesn't get the attention he expects from you, so he'll subtly degrade and make you feel small, but you won't let him get away with it, ("i thought god's angels were creatures of enlightenment, but now i see you're just some phoneys wearing stupid costumes!") and he's deserving of every nasty word – but one has to wonder why has he not just left if he really thinks of you as that insignificant. maybe he isn't as complex as he likes to think of himself as.
ix. Youran is a romantic in every sense of the word, it's possible he'll look at his surroundings with rose-tinted glasses and live in fantasy constructed of false ideals, ignoring all the macabre and the ugly. and you believe him too, with his kisses sweet as honey dew and words of romance like something from your collection of poetry books – but it is him who becomes lost in his own grandeur delusions and wringing you along, one of his comrades will likely have to remind him of the gravity of the situation and who it is he keeps sneaking off for not-so secret trysts under the moonlight and clear skies of stars. it is possible he'll be out of your life as abrupt as he came once the realization finally sinks in for him, making his presence feel like nothing more than a dream due to a fever. but it's certainly enough to leave a lasting ache and a hollow feeling because of it.
x. Aes doesn't remember the last time he really fell in love with someone – it could've been centuries or even eons ago because he's never really been the type to form romantic connections with anyone, but once he actually realizes it, it's an indescribable feeling of being at peace. the sweet blond angel, if only he could, would grant you immortality, but he would never want to subject you to the violence and bloodshed he's surrounded with daily, no matter if it's the devil's or his own god's world he's residing at said moment of time. he wonders of the possibility – if erasing your memories of him would ease his and your pain, knowing there isn't a reality out there where you could be together without a war in between, but he really doesn't want you to forget about him. in and outside the battlefield, his heart remains weak as always, and he himself can't deny it.
