44. Pokemon Crystal (GBC, 2000)

Huh! Didnt expect to get back into pokemon this year! Ive only played 3 games before tackling this one.

X, Sun and Ultra Moon.

I enjoyed them quite alot!

I was expecting something that was a little rough in some corners but was still enjoyable but to my surprise, it holds up really well!!

Im going to be fully transparent and just tell you to try it out if you want a fun RPG. Its great!!

So where do I begin!

Uhh. Johto is super fun to explore! They made it in such a way that going back to previous areas is quick and easy. Once you get the bike you can go zooming all over the region in little to no time!

Going back to previous towns to gather items, do daily events and fill the pokedex is not tedius at all!

It also makes exploring the region for secret goodies a whole lot of fun.

Johto has such a unique flavor compared to every other region in the series, its just a treat through and through!

even crazier is that they put the entirety of kanto as post game!! thats nuts! you get a whole new area to explore which will take you 18-30 hours to check ever corner of it and you get the WHOLE REGION OF THE PREVIOUS GAME

Pokemon Crystal provides so much content its impresive! I was always in awe at how they managed to fit such a big game into such a small cartridge!!

Especially considering the game has sprites for so many differnt types of pokemon- with animations!! This was the game that introduced the animated sprites!!

(This was played on the 3DS virtual console release)

They look so nice!! the sprites are super charming in general! the upgrade to gameboy color makes the game a treat for the eyes, the spritework is just really really nice.

I know im the thousanth person to suck off pokemon for being... pokemon. An international sensation but what can I say! its fun!

Alright combat... yeah its pokemon alright, its pretty basic working on a rock paper scizor weakness wheel... well like three wheels but you get the idea.

Its simple but engaging enough and you have some liberty in how you make your team with TMs... I say that but they are one use items here... that sucks ngl.

Actually I think thats a good place to start with a couple of areas the game could be better.

To start, walking. The areas are small enough so walking isnt bad, the speed is manageable but it might test the patience of some players.

It takes a solid bit to get the bicycle (jeez idk if I want to play red and blue knowing theres no bike)

Again, one use TMs.

why. The only thing that acomplishes is limit how the player can build their team greatly.

VERY easy to miss things. You can miss the radio chip and map chip easly (I was REALLY CLOSE to missing them), exploration would be way more annoying without the map

Those are some of the mayor complains I have, other than that... yeah I dont have alot that I hate! its a lovely time.

IM BAAAAACK !!!!!!

consider this like my offical re-introduction post because ... Wow alot of stuff has changed since I last was active here!! (actually not too much just like. My main interests I guess. Oh yeah and my age I'm 15 now wahoo)

Also I'm gonna keep this post pinned and also rb it like every morning until I have recollected all my mutuals like pokemon cards because I MISSED U GUYS :(( so yeah if you see this and we've interacted before please reply or send an ask so I know you haven't forgotten me maybe? idk . • and ofc I still like splatoon ! Silly squid guys

And uhh yeah that's abt it !!

One last thing to wrap up this post, I will no longer be using my art blog for all art related posts or reblogs, instead I will use it as a sort of archive for my art where you can find it all easily . Basically I'll reblog and post all art posts on main but I'll only *reblog* *my* art to my art blog, if that makes sense at all? Idk lawl.

You and Tom were seated at the back when your limo pulled over at the venue. You could hear the commotion from the inside even though you have walked numerous red carpets by now but it still seems to be a little nerve racking to you. Especially when this is the first time Tom is accompanying you to the Grammys which is going to be a big deal for the media. The security personnel opened the door and as you stepped out of the car you were flooded with flashing lights from the cameras.

Tom held out his hand for you, you slipped your arm into his and walked with a dazzling smile posing for the cameras “you look amazing, darling” he knelt down to whisper in your ear. In the meantime a lady journalist came forward to ask you a bunch of questions.

“So Y/N three nominations this year, how are you feeling?”

“Well it’s always good to be back here and share the stage with all these talented artists as usual I’m excited and looking forward to the night” you answered.

“We see you have brought company this year” she remarked which had you blushing.

“Yeah, I couldn't think of a better company than him on this very important occasion” you said bashfully tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.

“Tom, what do you have to say?” she poses the question to him.

“Uhh I mean she has always been an incredible singer and her songs are the reason that made me fall in love with her in the first place” he replied looking proudly at you.

“Aww you both are adorable. Wish you the best” she said before leaving.

“Thank you so much” you thanked her, walking inside the auditorium and sat on your designated seats. There you were met with lots of your friends from the music industry as you said hi and chatted with them for a while.

“Hey Y/N how are you?!” you heard Shawn from behind as you turned around and went to eagerly hug him. You and Shawn were really good friends from the beginning of your career and you have always been supporting each other’s works.

“I’m good, how are you?” you chirped.

“I’m fine now” he remarked cheekily and went to sit beside you as you started talking catching up on each other totally ignoring Tom. To be honest he was a little annoyed seeing you so over friendly with him but he brushed off his thoughts quickly.

The show began and a few awards were distributed with some performances in between by different artists. You too had to perform for tonight which also included a duet with Shawn and soon your time came as you stood up from your seat to go backstage.

“Best of luck, love” Tom said to boost your confidence.

“Thanks babe” you kissed on his cheek lovingly.

“See you on the stage Y/N” Shawn snickered.

“Oh I’m looking forward to it” you blew him an air kiss and headed backstage to change into your stage outfit. The stage was set and you could hear the loud cheers of the audience from backstage. Truth to be told you always get a little nervous before any public concert but this time it was different because Tom sat there in the audience and you are more excited than nervous to perform. The lights went out and the screen doors slid open as you walked on the stage with the spotlight on you. The notes begin to play as you vocalize striding across the stage with oomph.

The crowd cheered as the supporting dancers slowly entered the stage. Tom sat amidst the crowd in awe witnessing you in your full glory. You owned the stage like a queen. He knew you were the prettiest woman he has ever met but the bodycon suit you were wearing accentuated your curves all at the right places.

You waltzed around the stage with a sultry look in your eyes, slightly swaying your hips making the crowd go crazy. You went on to sing two more songs from your album then transitioned to Shawn’s latest single.

He sang with his gaze directed at you which didn’t go unnoticed by Tom who was looking at you both with narrowed eyes and clenched jaws.

Tom heard someone saying “they make a good pair” and he completely lost it. Now he was jealous even though he knows it’s wrong because you had always made it clear that you loved him more than anything but you in that ravishing outfit dancing and singing being way too comfortable around each other wasn’t helping much.

Your performance ended after some time and Tom couldn’t be anymore happier. You were back in the audience again as Shawn couldn’t stop praising you “you just set the stage on fire Y/N! It was awesome”

“Oh shut up! You weren’t bad either” you quipped. Tom sat there silently feeling neglected at how you had time to talk with everyone except him. The show ended with you winning the three categories you were nominated for : album of the year, song of the year and artist of the year. You were elated at your achievements as your team escorted you for a photo session. You saw Tom standing at a distance and walked over to him.

“Why are you standing here? Come and stand with me” you said, grabbing his arm.

“No I’m better off standing here rather than being your arm candy” he says bitterly pulling out his arm from your hold.

“What?!” you were slightly taken aback as you looked at him in confusion.

“Hey Y/N!” your manager called out.

“Just a moment!” you told him to wait and dragged Tom to a corner.

“What the hell was that back there?” you hissed at him.

“You know it very well” you shrugged with a disinterested look on his face.

“I-I really don’t understand where this is coming from Tom but are you upset with something?” you were really concerned with his sudden outburst.

“Well isn’t that obvious? When your girlfriend brings you to a public event to treat you like a sidepiece and goes on flirting with her colleagues on stage it is naturally upsetting” he jabbed at you.

“Are you even listening to what you are saying Tom? Everyone here are my work friends just like you have” you retorted in a hushed tone.

“Well it looked more than just friends” he bit back.

“Now you’re being ridiculous” you were totally done with him, fuming at his accusation.

“Y/N come fast!” your manager called you again.

“Yeah coming!” you replied and turned to Tom again “you know what it was actually my fault that I brought you along with me. I thought we were ready to take the next step in our relationship but it clearly doesn’t look like that” you snapped at him and walked back to have your pictures taken. You were stopped by various people, for interviews as well as to congratulate you for your win but you were so annoyed with Tom you couldn’t concentrate properly.

Towards the end of the night, you had almost forgotten about Tom’s comments as you busied yourself into conversations with different people from the industry, sipping on champagne.

As soon as he cooled down Tom was quick to realize his mistake and tried to approach you several times, but you successfully ignored him by preoccupying yourself elsewhere. He eventually caught up to you, grabbing your arm before you could walk away “Y/N, please. Can we just talk for a second?”

“No I don’t think so because I’m quite busy flirting with each and every guy over here” you snapped, turning to walk away. He grabbed your arm again, “Y/N, c’mon love, I’m really sorry” he whined.

You whipped around “not now Tom. We will talk after we get out of here so if you will excuse me” saying so you walked away to be stopped by a reporter for another interview. The after party ended an hour as you and Tom exited the place. You climbed into the limo, quickly putting up the privacy window. Tom climbed in after you, taking a seat glancing at you.

“What?” you scowled, crossing your arms over your chest. You could tell he was really upset with what he’d said earlier.

“Y/N.. I can't even explain how sorry I am” he started “I know I was being a dick back there and I feel terrible about it”

You leaned back in your seat sighing “you know what, I'm really tired. Can we talk about this after we reach home?” He nodded silently in agreement without uttering a single word on the drive back.

Once you got home, you walked through the living room and made your way into your shared bedroom. You sat on the bed taking off your heels and massaged your ankles. After sometime Tom joined you in the bedroom. He takes off his suit jacket and loosens his tie as you stare at him for a second. He looked so good in formal attire which filled your head with filthy thoughts. How you could have celebrated your win in a different way but he had to ruin it by acting out like that.

“Y/N, I truly am sorry. I.. I have no excuse for my behavior. It was completely my fault” he walked over to you, sitting next to you on the bed.

You sighed deeply and stood up walking over to your walk in closet. Your hands went to your back to reach out to the zipper of your dress “I really didn’t expect this from you at least. Of all the people I thought you would understand since you are in the same line of work” you said with disappointment clear in your voice. Tom hung his head low in shame.

“I know babe it was rude and totally uncalled for. I was a fucking idiot and let my insecurities get the best of me” he said with remorse.

“Then just think about how I feel when I have to watch you making out with other women on screen. I never said anything to you. Instead I always supported you and you on the other hand questioned our relationship just because I was singing and dancing with someone else who happens to be a very good friend of mine” you ranted still struggling with the zipper of your dress “a little help please?” you huffed slightly irritated and angry.

Tom bit back a smile as he walked over to you and helped you unzip your dress. He took your hands in his and pecked on them gently “I didn't mean to ruin the night for you” he apologized, looking down at your hands.

You pulled out your hands and crossed your arms “well it wasn’t that bad given that I won three Grammys but I wished you were there by my side” you said completely forgetting that you were standing there in just your strapless bra and very tiny pair of lace underwear.

Tom was eyeing you the whole time with a known smirk plastered on his face. You noticed that and looked down at yourself “oh, c’mon. I’m trying to have a serious conversation here!” you scoffed, throwing your hands in the air. You shook your head in annoyance and grabbed the black silk robe, tying it around your body.

Tom was broken out of his trance as he walked over to you, placing a hand on your cheek “Y/N believe me I’m really sorry. I wish I could take back all the horrible things I said to you. You didn’t deserve any of it. Sorry for being such a jerk to you”

Your expression softened as you held his hand gently “well I’m glad to hear that. And even if I try I can’t stay mad at you for a longtime so apology accepted” you said with a smile.

“Thank you darling it would never happen again I promise” he says stroking his thumb on your cheek bone as he leaned in, pressing a kiss to your lips “and I mean it” he stated a hand reaching up to untie your robe as your robe fell open, your breath hitched “though it was slightly your fault too, how do you expect me to not get jealous seeing you with someone else looking so bloody gorgeous in that outfit?” he hooked his index finger under the silk on your shoulder, pulling the robe down slowly, leaving a trail of goosebumps on your skin “but I’m really sorry” he whispers in a husky tone.

“Then prove it” you looked at him challengingly, a smirk tugged at the corner of your lips. Without any further delay Tom crashed his lips to yours effortlessly lifting you up by your thighs as you wrapped your legs around his waist.

this is uhh a kurtana fic !!! set in 6x03 because you knowwww tbh i'm not super confident in my characterizations i guess of santana in general i haven't written her much and of kurt in relation to santana 😬 so idk how this is in terms of that lol but i'm pretty happy with it for nowww so yeahhhhh :D

Kurt sits alone in the choir room, plunking out quiet notes on the piano but his heart’s not in it, his mind’s not in it, just a swirling mess of --

judgemental --

-- shrill --

-- sexless, self-centered --

-- utterly, utterly intolerable --

His fingers slip on the keys and the discordant notes cut through his thoughts for a moment.

Living with Santana -- hell, just being her friend, being in her presence for four years -- he did learn not to take everything she said to heart. He learned, as best he could, as much as she allowed, about the spiky walls she put up around herself, and how she might let him get past them sometimes. He’d thought he was somewhat past that stage with her -- that they’d become close enough to not warrant all the guards anymore. But he supposes that can always change. He supposes, really, that he did something to make it change today.

It’s funny -- ironic, a little sad, honestly -- to be back in this choir room. On the one hand, it’s full of mostly happy memories; it’s where his closest friendships were forged, where his skills and character were tested, where he felt so much struggle and hardship but also where he escaped from more of it, and where he felt so much love and found himself comfortable enough to give it, too.

And now, here alone, seemingly with none of that -- a love who has anything but love for him, one friend he loves but who’s more focused on herself at the moment, and another friend who… has an admirably extensive vocabulary, he has to say.

Guess you really do have to lose everything to… what, be happy? Find yourself? Well, he’s waiting for that part.

Enough of the fucking pity party, Hummel. He does want to help Rachel, and gain some valuable experience and academic credit for himself as well, so his best option is to take this seriously. Focus on the work like Rachel is. Maybe everything else will fall into place.And if not… he won’t be completely doomed. He does have something.

The sound of heels clicking against the ground doesn’t catch his attention until they’re almost right in front of him, and he looks up to see Santana on the other side of the piano.

Kurt almost cringes in surprise and in apprehension for round two. He hopes it just comes out as a flattening of his lips -- his mouth like a cat’s ass --

“I owe you an apology,” Santana says.

Kurt… wasn’t really expecting that. He meets her eyes, dark and guarded as ever. Her expression… doesn’t really show him anything. He’s not sure if he should wait, or --

“I went too far,” she continues firmly, “and… I need you to know that you do matter to me.”

Kurt almost laughs -- in any other situation, he’d be able to focus on Santana’s clear reluctance to say this, maybe poke fun at her a little bit in a very different situation. But part of him also warms with something close to pride -- not that he’d ever tell Santana, for fear of the razor blades in her hair and in her words, the latter of which he’s already been a victim to more times than he really ever would’ve wanted.

He can see that this is hard, he knows it is, so much harder than verbally spilling insults and borderline cruelty but she is doing it for him. And that alone confirms her words in Kurt’s mind.

“I need to apologize, too,” he says in lieu of an expression of genuine forgiveness, at least for now. He’s not sure if it would be very appreciated. “I… shouldn’t have taken my own problems out on you. I’m so happy for you and Britt, Santana.”

“Fine, enough with the platitudes, Hummel,” Santana drawls after a short pause, rolling her eyes and bringing a hand up in front of her, examining her fingernails. “A little too late for it.”

Kurt huffs, and Santana’s mouth quirks in a slight smile, and he knows they’re leaving it there.

Because he has the walls, too. And when they’re both raw in different ways, guarding pure happiness or heartache against even some of the closest people, and neither of them is putting them down for now, it’s probably best to just leave it there.

So he starts actually playing the intro to something, giving her the excuse she wants to leave under the guise of being sick of all the bursting into song. And they’ll leave it for another time, when they’re feeling more vulnerable, to let those walls down more.

What's wrong with goldenpoodles? I'm genuinely curious because almost all of my dogs are mixed breeds and behave fine. So I'm curious if there's something else I'm missing

jeez this feels like bait but u kno what, you got me

alright, so it goes like this. the doodle really began with a guy in australia being like i need the temperament of a lab for a guide dog but these ppl are allergic to dogs, so i need a poodle bc they have hair, not fur. so he bred em together. years later he’s like damn that was a mistake.

now, why, exactly? alright so first of all he only needed that mix bc labs on average tend to adapt better to situations that are largely exclusive to service dog work than poodles do. i can go into what this means at a later date, but that’s basically how it is. but either way, people jumped on this creation and it kinda spiraled out of control. soon, poodles were being bred by everyone and every breed. suddenly, they were a marketing scam more then they were a dog breed.

oh theyre hypoallergenic! all of them, all the time cause zero allergies! look theyre so much better than poodles! theyre friendly and easy to train, not like poodles of course, just like labs! they’re better than labs bc none of them shed, ever! they’re super healthy bc breeding labs and poodles together wipes out all their health problems, of course!

lies, lies lies. the aussie guy, whose name i’m not going to look up bc i’m lazy but who you can find if you google creator of doodles, straight up says that even the first litter(s) of labradoodles he bred had puppies that the people he bred them for were allergic to. he very carefully tested the litter and the reaction the person had before placing a puppy that was not going to hurt them.

think of the punnet squares we all learned about in 5th grade science class. you draw the squares and one parent has two fur genes and the other parent has two hair genes and what do you get? well if you have four puppies, one might have hairhair and the next one might have hairfur and the next one might have furhair and the next one might have furfur. and so guess what? only hairhair pup is going to be the best choice for allergic people. additionally, you can see why the non-shedding thing can be bullshit, and that in particular is also a guessing game. you may be able to test allergy sufferers against the pups, but that does not necessarily mean they won’t shed. hairfur, for example, may be a good choice for some allergic people, but perhaps they’ve got just enough fur to shed anyway. also, lets look at salukis (and frankly, most long-haired sighthounds). salukis are still considered dogs with fur, not hair. they also still shed, even though it’s just a little. and yet they’re still considered good for allergy sufferers.

(ps poodles do actually shed. but they shed like humans shed. your hair comes out, doesn’t it? like, esp folks with long hair, aren’t people always complaining how you clog the shower drain? yeah, like that. ALSO obviously the situation is more complicated then super simple punnet squares and as an ex-groomer i have something to say about doodle coats but i’m going to save that for later, put a pin in it.)

oh and wait a hot minute there. i said best choice, didn’t i, not hypoallergenic. well, that’s because no dog is hypoallergenic. poodles, and a few other dog breeds, they have hair, like we do. but the thing is both humans and breeds with hair still produce the dander, though they’re different kinds. breeds with hair happen to produce the least amount possible that dogs can produce, which is why they’re a better choice for allergy sufferers, but that’s still not a guarantee. my roommate Dakota is allergic to dogs. if i don’t wash my dogs for an extended period of time (which has never happened, ever, in my life, idk what ur talking about), thus giving the chance for the dander my dogs still produce, he will have a very, very mild reaction when touching them. it can be countered by him washing his hands after touching them and also me just giving them a fucking bath, i need to stop forgetting, but still, there you go. ALSO people might not be allergic to dogs bc of their dander. they might be allergic to the saliva of dogs, which poodles or any other breed with hair still produces about the same as other dogs. so, yeah, not hypoallergenic, not at all.

the people who taut their hypoallergenic dogs for sale largely don’t do the testing required to check if they’re actually providing a dog to someone who won’t react to it. not acceptable at all.

so, labs are friendly and easy to train right? not at all like poodles, right? no. absolutely incorrect. some labs are friendly and easy to train. some labs, a lot of them when they’re puppies, are nightmare fuel. personally, i have a theory that everyone’s vision of labs in their heads are either a) service dogs or b) those old labs who are slightly pudgy (or morbidly obsess, which is a different topic) and who are graying in the face and just want to lounge around because they’re seniors now. alright, so here’s why thats bad. labs are a working breed. a retrieving breed. they’re supposed to be bulky and strong and driven. service dogs are highly trained, to a point that most pet dogs will never see, and if you see them with their actual disabled handler, they’ll probably be around 2.5 yrs of age and out of their most wild days. old labs are well. old. sleepy. maybe a bit achey. and well out of their most wild days. oh, and it’s the same type of thing with goldens by the way, the other most popular doodle type. poodles are also easy to train, especially if their parents have a decent temperament. they’re all about equal if you actually start training them when they’re puppies and just pay for some training classes, like everyone should. in the puppy classes i’m in right now, Euphoria is leaps and bounds ahead of doodles, goldens, and labs that are her age or older. I train her properly and she’s got amazing parents. that’s it, that’s the trick. not breed, not necessarily, and def not in this case.

I am once again going to say that labs and goldens are more often used as service dogs than poodles because of their adaptability, but it’s the ability to adapt to situations that most pet dogs will never have to worry about.

jeez this is a long post. i’ve still got more to cover too. alright, on to super healthy, or “hybrid vigor” as the nerds call it. uhh, it’s bullshit. thank u for ur time.

okay, but actually why on gods green earth would breeding two completely different breeds with little to no research make them super healthy? now i want to preface this with i’m (generally) pro-outcross projects. Euphoria’s dad is half mini poodle and half standard poodle, which isn’t technically an outcross bc all the variations are of the same breed, but if we’re going by genetic diversity alone minis and standards are different enough to actually be different breeds.

so, to be clear, outcrosses, given the proper thought and planning: good, results in healthier dogs (see: lua dals). randomly breeding two very different breeds together with no planning other than to sell the puppies to randos who won’t continue the outcross: bad. especially when you’re doing it to cash in and don’t health test at all, or don’t health test the major health problems with both breeds (if you’re doing an f2 breeding or anything like that). no the poodle’s health problems don’t get canceled out by the goldens or labs or whatever the other party’s health problems are, and vice versa. and yeah, i’ve looked at a lot of doodle breeder’s websites and yeah, most of them don’t health test at all, or at least don’t health test properly. do you know i own one doodle and currently live with another? yeah, i got them both from breeders and do you know how much health testing their parents got? if your answer is none, good job, you’ve been paying attention. in my defense, i was like 13, i didn’t know what i was doing.

alright, so those are the big points. this is kinda gonna be just... a mix of my other complaints. here we go, hope you’re ready for more. argument the first: i feel like it’s pretty disrespectful to reputable breeders. now, i actually have two reasons why that is. reason one: most reputable poodle breeders don’t want their breeding stock bred with other breeds, for various reasons. i’ve even met a few who used to be okay with it and then as the doodle scam got bigger and more out of control, they stopped being okay with it, even to the breeders who they had been fine with it in the past. that means a lot of doodle breeders out there have their breeding stock because they scammed poodle breeders into giving them pet quality, not breeding quality, dogs or because they’re getting their stock from non-reputable breeders. i also feel it’s disrespectful to breeders who are actually trying to create new breeds. quite frankly, a breed with the size, strength, and adaptability of a lab or golden that doesn’t shed and that has the train-ability of a poodle, lab, or golden sounds pretty interesting to me. did you know you can actually make that breed? and it wouldn’t be a cross with unpredictable... well, everything. it would actually be a true dog breed.

Look at Silken Windhounds and Biewer Terriers who began both development in the 1980s. Biewer Terriers were recognized by the AKC this year, and Silken Windhounds still haven’t been. And yeah, that’s the problem isn’t it? Making a real new breed takes a lot of time, planning, and care. People would rather just cash in. I think it’s sad and I think it’s disrespectful to the breeders who do work so hard to make actual new breeds.

and finally, unpin being an ex-groomer goddamnit. guess what? doodles are awful to groom! they’re terrible on the grooming tables because people want to have in both ways: they want a dog that doesnt shed at all and they want a dog who doesn’t need to be groomed. well guess what, that dog doesn’t exist and you can have it only one way. and also, bring back the goddamn punnet squares because a lot of doodles have awful coats. if you have hairfur and furhair over there, guess what, their coat fucking sucks bc it’s not meant to be like that. it wants to mat bc hair but also it wants the mats to slide out bc short-ish fur but its too thick for the mats to slide out bc thick hair. and yes its more complicated then this and that means its often more awful then this. its awful, it makes me want to cry. and maybe it’s slightly easier to get away with it with a shorthaired dog like a lab, or, you know what, even a golden, okay, even a slightly long haired dog like a golden but people are doodling akitas? border collies? bernese fucking mountain dogs? i am crying. i am crying right now as i type this.

lets do a sum up to this disaster of a post. look, i don’t go out there attacking or yelling at every doodle or every doodle owner i see, alright? or any of them really. i might engage in conversation to one that’s interested, but that’s it. i love my doodly Isis, okay? shes tiny and she’s adorable and I love her more than life and i will never, ever get another doodle. i don’t like the way they’ve gotten so prolific, i don’t like the reasons they’re now widespread, and i don’t like almost all of the people that create them, including the ones i’ve literally given my (parents) money to in the past. i wish they were better but i just cannot approve of them, especially not in the environment they exist in now. that said, i do support them in their original use case as assistance dogs, and i do not care about them if they’re shelter dogs.

NOW ABOUT... T H E M.

I have SOME kyle/demar thoughts but sadly like.. not a TON... which is weird because they're literally one of my top fav ships and the first ship I saw that really got me into sports tumblr LMAO. So it's not like I DONT think about it because I DO but I think they're just so popular with so many other supporters and analysts of their ship that it's like??? What thoughts can I have that a greater tumblr nba gay historian has already thought LMAO

BUT LIKE. I THINK ABOUT THEM NONETHELESS. My thoughts are just like?? Very plain to me tho idk!!! I hope u like them either way tho!!!!

So like.... uhh... you want sad!!! Hmm!! I can give that!! That's also what makes kyle/demar so great like... you can focus on the sad parts of their relationship if you want, the goofy, or the soft! It's a whole package deal of different emotions! BUT ANYWAYS UH

I'm SERIOUSLY not an astrology knowledge expert like FR I have no idea what a rising is or stuff so... u can take any mistakes I make in saying this with a grain of salt BUT

Demar is a Leo and like.. that just sticks out to me. I think most like??? Regular zodiac analysts like to think that ALL Leos are extroverted, selfish, comedic braggarts with a lot of pride because uhh?? It's a lion I guess? And lions are used to being the head of the pride so. King mentality but like... demar isn't like that. He's in that special category of leos that are generally super quiet, but like FLIP A SWITCH only when they're with a really trusted friend. As long as they're with people they trust enough and feel confident enough with, they're going to show a louder part of their personality! But ONLY if they're with the specific people they CHOSE to let see it... and that takes a lot of trust and time and love... and demar being so happy and having so many antics with Kyle just really exemplifies the amount of devotion he has for him. Those kinda leos and their relationships are just really beautiful to me because they're usually pretty cool with everyone, but they pick like ONE (or just a few) specific people to devote all their trust and care into because they truly believe that that person will give it back. They're an introvert who's willing to turn extrovert all for one person who they believe deserves to see it and wants to see it. It's a very special and deep relationship that often develops without them even knowing how tbh! They just know that they've made best friends with that person they chose and they're gonna stay best friends as long as they live and breathe.

Leos like that really Value their one special relationship.. they sometimes believe they'll never have another one like it and are therefore afraid of losing it... secretly, but powerfully, they get worried easily about the other person not devoting as much care into the relationship as them. About that one person who they chose to put above air, moving on like the friendship was merely another footnote in a book that bored them.

And at the start, that would have been easy for Kyle to do.

Kyle sets goals and he gets them quick. He's an Aries, and that probably means something but I don't know much about aries so. I'll leave it at that LMAO. Anyways... what I mean is that like? Just because Kyle is cute n small and kinda giggly (especially when he's with demar) DOESNT mean he can't be a stubborn, prickly, and determined asshole. He can put certain things aside for a purpose that he thinks is better. He put aside his hurt at the demar trade to work for a championship with kawhi. And like. Yeah. I personally think the best think about Aries is loyalty, which is why Leos and Aries make such great friends. Shared loyalty, with the Aries remaining loyal to whoever helped them soften up their stubborness to allow some?? Self like... soothing to themselves? Because Aries can sometimes put aside too much for something that it gets unhealthy... and the leos remaining loyal to whoever they believe deserve it.

what I mean is that he'll always be loyal to demar even though he's having all this fun with kawhi. Because Demar was the one who bent down and whispered that he was always going to be there with him, even after the fact that Kyle missed a shot that could've won them an advancement. He was the one who let Kyle know that it's going to be okay and he'll always be there for him. And knowing that really helped settle Kyle's persistent??? Running. I guess. Either toward or from something, I don't know and I don't think Kyle knows either but.. yeah. Demar was the one who let Kyle know that he has someone in his corner and he's not fighting for something all alone. And Kyle, this guy who makes sure not to devote himself Too much into things, to make sure he doesn't let himself enjoy something for too much or too long... let himself relax for Demar because Demar let him know that it was okay.

So he'll never forget Demar for that.

But despite that loyalty, I think Demar still worries. Worried about losing someone that he never thinks he'll ever find again all because he couldn't play basketball better. He's been traded for 'a real superstar that can actually lead the north', and here's kyle... laughing with the Real Superstar. Smiling with The Real Superstar. Possibly even having a better relationship with The Real Superstar that overshadows the one he had with Demar.

And that's scary. Because it's a selfish worry, to not want someone to enjoy something with someone else as much as they enjoyed it with you... but he can't help but (quietly) want that because he's afraid. And he's alone. And he feels like he's going to lose the one person he chose to keep with him forever.

And that's scary. Really, really scary.

“Taehyung grab the marshmallows, Namjoon grab the chocolates, I’ll grab the graham crackers.” Jin says as he runs around the kitchen.

“Yn you know where the blankets are at right?” Namjoon yells from the pantry.

“Of course,” you say as you rush upstairs.

“Soo.. you guys stay here a lot don’t you?” Jungkook asks Miya as she passed by him on the couch. Her eyebrows furrows a little, not expecting him to talk to anyone, especially her since he doesn’t know her... or maybe that’s why. She smiles at him.

“Yeah, this is like our second home. Sleepovers, movie nights, casual hangouts, you name it.”

“You would think they still live with their parents,” Jimin says, looking up and down at the many photos of the three brothers.

“Mom decorated if you can’t tell,” Taehyung says as he walked into the living room. “Jin hyung likes to play favorites and he keeps them up for her even though dad says we can take them down.”

“Smart, you always listen to moms.” Jimin replies.

“Okay so,” you say, breathing hard from running down the stairs. “I didn’t know how much we needed soooo.. I brought all of them.” You throw the blankets on the couch, right next to Jungkook, making him jump in surprise. In your defense, you weren’t paying attention.

“Oh— oops, sorry,” you say with a sheepish smile. Jungkook presses his lips together and nods at you.

“Umm, okay,” Hobi says, sensing the awkward tension between you two. “Do we have everything we need?”

“Yeah, everything else is in the car,” Namjoon says.

“Great let’s go then,” Miyeon says, grabbing the car keys and walking out.

“Are you driving?”Jin yells out to her. He hears a faint ‘no’ following the sounds of keys jingling and next thing he knew, the car keys were flying at him.

“yAH you almost hit my face!”

Jimin laughs at the two, pointing at the couple and turning to Yoongi. “I like them.”

“Alright shall we go ladies?” Hobi asks you and Miya, picking up a couple blankets while you and Miya take the rest.

“Yeah let’s go.” You say, walking out with the two.

Jungkook watches you three leave and Jimin turns to him.

“You okay?”

“Is he really riding with them? Why can’t Taehyung go instead?” Jungkook says. Taehyung overhears and butts in.

“Don’t want me to sit next to you Kookie? Or do you not want Hobi sitting next to Yn?” Jungkook scoffs.

“Wouldn’t you want to be sitting next to your girlfriend?” He asks. Taehyung turns his head to the side.

“Come on, you act like you don’t have a thing for Miya.” Jimin’s eyebrows rise after hearing what Jungkook says, turning to Taehyung quickly for his answer.

“What makes you think I have a thing for her?”

“You have very loud eyes Taehyung, they say everything you don’t want to say,” Jungkook says with a smirk. Taehyung laughs.

“Well, seems like I’m not the only one then. Seeing how loud your eyes are for Yn. Can’t hide anything from me Kookie, same as our school days huh?” Taehyung spits back, walking past Jungkook who’s face fell from Taehyung’s response.

“Let’s go,” Namjoon says to Jimin and Jungkook, who just stood there in the center of the living room.

Jungkook looks up to him and nods, turning around and following Taehyung.

“Pass the mallows!” You say as you reach for the bag that Hobi was holding. You ten were now on a beach, around a small bonfire, eating and making s’mores.

Hobi laughs at you, holding the bag out of your reach. You giggle trying to get it from him.

“Dude, give it,” you say.

“Come get it then,” He says, pulling it even farther from your reach.

Jungkook watch the two of you as you giggle, trying to get the marshmallows from Hobi. His eyes shift from you two, to Miya. She must’ve felt his gaze because the next thing she knew, she was looking at him, trying to figure out what he was trying to say.

“Marsh-Mallows,” he mouthed. Miya looked at the bag that was right above her head, held by Hobi’s hand. She points up to it and Jungkook nods.

“Hobi seriously,” you laugh, “give it.”

“Get it— hey-“ He says, turning to Miya who grabbed the bag and threw it across the circle. Jungkook caught it with both hands, looking up and making eye contact with Hobi, switching to you quickly as he takes a marshmallow from the bag.

“What’s his problem,” you say under your breath, you can feel your cheeks turning hot and red.

“Don’t worry it’s working,” Hobi smirks. “He’s just an angsty little nugget that needs a little push.”

You furrow you’re eyebrows at him, confused at what he’s trying to say.

“You wanna walk off by ourselves for a bit and I’ll explain everything?” Hobi suggests. You look to Jungkook from the side of your eye. He’s looking at you but he looks away.

“Sure.”

The two of you get up suddenly.

“Where are you two going?” Taehyung asks in confusion.

“We’re just going to take a walk across the shore,” you say.

“I wanna come,” Jimin perks up, standing up from his seat.

“Uh-“ Hobi says, holding up a finger. “You, stay.” Jimin’s jaw drops and his eyebrows swoops up.

“AaawWWw hyuuung,” he whines.

“Bye Jimin,” Hobi waves, putting a hand on your back and letting you walk in front.

Jungkook bites the insides of his cheeks, watching the two go off.

“Jealous Kookie?” Taehyung says with a smirk, taking a big bite of his s’more.

“Ooooh, is that what’s going on here,” Jin speaks up, winking at the youngest.

“I’m not.. jealous.” Jungkook says.

“Looks like you are, why don’t you just talk to her?” Yoongi asks. Jungkook sighs.

“It’s not that easy hyung.”

“Is this a confession?” Taehyung smirks.

“Shut up,” Jungkook says. “If you want a confession go sit next to Miya and tell her one.” Miya’s brows rise and she turns to look at Taehyung.

“What confession Tae?”

“Nothing Miya, Jungkook’s just trying to change the subject,” he says, glaring at Jungkook, throwing a marshmallow at him.

“Jungkook clearly still likes you,” Hobi says as you two walk side by side on the shore.

“What makes you think that? The guy’s ignoring me.”

“He’s just scared. He hasn’t talked to a girl since like.. you,” he says, looking off into the distance.

“What? He hasn’t dated anyone since.. me?”

“Doesn’t believe in love anymore.”

“But he’s the one that left me. I’m the one that’s supposed to be feeling that way.”

“And why aren’t you? He left you and you come looking for him ten years later?” He had a point. You shrugged.

“Well I believe in happily ever after. Miya and Tae always call me a hopeless romantic. I believe everyone deserves a second chance.”

“Everyone?” Hobi says, looking at you with disbelief. An eyebrow raise.

“Okay well it depends. But with Jungkook. You know... he’s my first love and everything... and we were thirteen, we do stupid things. I don’t expect him to come running back, or me come running to him saying we should continue what we had but you know... I feel like an explanation would just make me feel better. Maybe once I get an explanation, my thoughts on love would be.. different.”

“What do you mean by different?”

“I haven’t been in a relationship with anyone since him. I’m to scared to get hurt again I guess? I don’t know what I did wrong, maybe if he let’s me know, I’d know what to do next time.”

“So you both are stuck with the idea of each other.”

“Wait why isn’t he able to get into a relationship, he’s the one that left me—“

“He’s still in love with you, can’t you tell.”

“Uhh.. no.”

“Look, he probably won’t talk to you for a while, but he will eventually. Just give him some time.”

“Of course, I’m not mad at him, never was.”

“You’re too nice for your own good,” he laughs.

“I’m waiting for good karma,” you shrug, followed by a shiver. “Ugh, it’s too cold, this puffer jacket is so not enough. Let’s go back to the group?” You say, wrapping your arms around your torso.

“Yeah, it’ll be warmer around the fire. But here,” Hobi unwraps the scarf he had around his neck and he puts it around yours instead.

“I can’t believe they got me doing this,” Jungkook mutters to himself. He trudged on the cold sand, trying to find the two of you.

“Thank you,” you say. Jungkook looks up at the sound of your voice. He stops in his tracks immediately.

“Warm?” Hobi asks, fixing the scarf around your neck. You look up to him with a smile and nod.

Jungkook scoffs. “He’s really going for it.”

“Let’s go?” You say, Hobi nods and you two turn around to head back to the fire.

“Jungkook,” you say in surprise as you see him standing there, watching over the two of you. Jungkook looks at you, then at Hobi. He shakes his head at him and turns back, ‘forget it’.

cloudtail’s daughter: jayfeather

alright, strap in, it's time for jayfeather. i've been holding it in on him for what feels like forever now; he's ya boy's favorite character

also, aside from dove and ivy, he's the character with the highest volume of changes to canon. even above cloudtail and brightheart, because they continue their lives, it's not a big deal. and lion and cinder go to the tribe, but like, that's it. (i'm figuring out if jay goes with them over the course of this essay. i think i said he did in holly? but he literally hasn't been mentioned once in that arc because there's a lot going on.) anyway lion and cinder don't get up to anything. but jay's priorities shift and we see that in his books. i'm really excited to write him but i need to finish arc 1 lmao.

but first, same deal as always. this is part of my cloudtail's daughter au, where dovekit and ivykit are born to cloudtail and brightheart. i don't know how well this will read preemptively, but i suspect it will be rather dependent on the others. cloudtail's daughter: dovewing and/or the long post that explains it are both good places to start, see the cloudtail's daughter tag on my blog.

section one: the leafpool business

at the beginning of this series, leafpool and jayfeather are on bad terms. they will stay on bad terms for basically the entirity of the book series. while one of my main complaints with po3/oots is the lack of acknowledgement of adoption, jayfeather has been lied to by his mother and his mentor, something neither hollyleaf or lionblaze have to contend with, and then his sister kills herself over it. obviously she doesn't, but from his perspective. so he blames leafpool because he was really close to hollyleaf and now she's gone, and it's his first real loss, and there's so much going on.

and so he's a grouch and he's unhappy and he's just trying to function when his whole support system has been dismantled over the course of what, like, a quarter moon? yeah so dovekit and ivykit are like "wow what a grouch he sucks" the same way they don't realize prey is dying of thirst & etc.

for the most part he's j chilling and then hollyleaf comes back and man is it some family drama. unfortunately it's postponed til book 4 because hollyleaf and jayfeather have journeys but anyway i'm getting ahead of myself, because this section should end and unlike the hollyleaf essay i want to actually have decent organization.

section two: hollyleaf is away (but jayfeather doesn't get to play)

holly, cinder, and dove go to deal with beavers. we only get jayfeather through lionblaze in the books, but jayfeather is...conflicted. he got his sister back and lost her again and oh i should say. i think jayfeather and hollyleaf are the closer pair of the siblings. not that they don't love lionblaze the same, but you know how cats pair bond? like, it's usually a trauma thing, but even in feral cats, you see very close friendships. anyway yeah so for other au's i've been sorting siblings n denmates into pairs for this purpose (mostly jaywing au because there's a lot re. dovepaw and jaypaw and remember they are reincarnated siblings they've got a close bond going.) and it's kind of...i don't know my point is jayfeather misses his sister because she's like, his best friend too. or she was. and then she died and now she's back and she left again, and lionblaze is more concerned about cinderheart, so jayfeather just comes off as grouchy all the time. but really he's lonely and sad.

so yeah, jayfeather is kind of moping around camp and then the tree falls and whoops now briarpaw/light is parapalegic.

and uhh this goes more or less as in canon but we don't get pov which is fine bc u can sub in canon. but jayfeather? he's still a sad boy but now he's a sad boy with purpose and that makes all the difference

yeah he's close with her. they're sweet. it's sweet. he's pressured by brambleclaw to take an apprentice. he's bristly and angry and "you're not my real father" you know?

beaver crew gets back. jayfeather, who had missed holly, is back to being angry for...angst and plot purpose, really.

but you know, when you love & miss someone and they leave and they come back and somehow that's worse because now they can leave you again? and you can't tell them you want them to stay because you're angry and hurt but you want them to stay? god i'm excited to write these chapters i love emotional turmoil.

he's protective of briarlight, he's trying to keep dovepaw from being a medicine cat, hollyleaf is apologizing but he's not ready to hear it and lionblaze and hollyleaf are beginning to reconnect and it feels like betrayal. so when cinderheart and lionblaze go to the tribe, he tags along. everyone, uh, strongly encourages he go. he is the big grouch.

section three: time travelling times

okay so the timeline for these books is...messy. if you track the chronology of my writing, it's messy. which is to say, i was thinking i could put forgotten warrior and distant whispers over the same time span, but that actually doesn't work, as i review my notes for FW because a big part of it is ivy and holly's relationship. so. fake news. whoops. that sucks.

or maybe it doesn't? idk i don't usually tell linear stories. i like messing with emotional impact of events. so writing 600k of very linear story telling is very not easy for me. but i'm trying.

right so basically the official order of events until i change my mind again is as follows (names abbreviated as DIHLJC because they're all unique): DCH returns from beavers, DILCJ go to tribe with some other random warrior undecided, J + rando return, JH start awkwardness (beginning of TFW, middle of DW), DILC return (end of DW), time travel stuff (middle to end of TFW). hopefully that was intelligble, but it is admittedly 85% for my own benefit.

alright so we've covered during beavers, now jayfeather and hmmmm let's say, uhhhh, let's say they go with, literally any interesting background character, uh, bumblestripe! he doesn't do anything in this au bumblestripe goes with them. also since his name starts w b i can still write DIHLJCB and have things be unambigious. and it means there are fewer bs in thunderclan and trust me you don't know how frustrating the existence of like 6 b characters is.

alright so we really have 3 sets of two pairs of cats here. maybe i won't go w bumblestripe, bc he doesn't have an existing relationship w jayfeather. i dunno. i'm a big fan of jay & briar, whether as a ship or just besties, but that's just out, and hollyleaf can't come a) because i said so and b) honestly maybe she can? actually wait hold on that solves my problems. hot damn so 6/6 of the pov cats go to the tribe and this will be one of the only times all six characters are plot relevant at the same time. but i'm going george r r martin on it and seperating the books not by time but into DICL + JH because they're two completely separate character arcs that happen to take place at the same time. (don't worry i'm going to resolve the fallen leaves thing. in this essay ig bc i've already covered hollyleaf.)

okay so yeah hollyleaf is sent bc jayfeather isn't planning on staying w tribe for long time. just short time. and he's all "firestar why"

"well jayfeather," firestar says, "you don't talk to your family."

"i talk to dovewing," jayfeather says

"you're not related to her," firestar says

"there's a whole prophecy about how i'm related to her," jayfeather says

"you know about that?" firestar says

and that's how the cat gets out of the bag.

so anyway. jayfeather and hollyleaf are sent because...hold on, spinning the wheel of reasons for a character to go on a field trip...because...because...because...because...jayfeather had one of those dreams. i don't know. rock or something. now he's going.

they get there, and this is where the books get a lil time wonky, bc jayfeather and hollyleaf stay for like a moon, during which jayfeather goes back in time. i think.

i haven't worked out the details and probably won't until i do an updated au synopsis because it's hard to keep track and i'm more concerned about character through lines. like, jayfeather does this and he feels sad, and hollyleaf is sad about her ghost boyfriend, and they're travelling back together, and hollyleaf is his sister and she doesn't make him feel like he needs protection and lionblaze is bad at that, and they start to talk again.

and yeah, they bond. again. it's kind of, on top of their old bond? like they don't repair anything, they bond like strangers. but it's not nothing, and that matters.

so jayfeather gets back, and we're moving into book five, and i don't remember when the last time i made a section break was or what number we're on, so...sorry.

section ???: old man yells at cloud

alright it's finally jayfeather's moment. you know, he's one of my favorite characters, and he only gets a book and a half. "but mateo," i hear you saying, "doesn't every character get a book and a half? and more importantly, 6x1.5 is 9, so how does every character get a book and a half?" well, yes, every character does, but dovewing and ivypool are relevant in books 1-3 and 6, cinderheart in 1-3 and 5, lionblaze in 1-3, and hollyleaf in 2-5 (and has a critical role in 1 and 6, just no character development), while jayfeather is just really essential to books 4-5, and has a background role in 3. that means he's about equal to lionblaze. he's equal to lionblaze. as far as the numbers go, i cannot tell you. it's a mystery.

right so the reason for this is because (a) jayfeather doesn't do that much in oots. i love him, but he's not, like, super important, and (b) he's going to work better in these books if he's concentrated. because his big theme is his relationship with hollyleaf and the past. they're both kind of stuck in it but in different ways. and that prevents them from ever properly healing. so jay never has a full arc in this. i mean he has a full arc, it's just not a satisfying one. and that means he's sort of got to be put in the containment units.

so anyway, he gets his real big moments in the fifth book, when he's reuniting starclan. i think this is one of the riskier decisions on my part: we'll see whether or not i can deliver on him the way i plan to. but i think i can pull it off so that his arc is more meaningful condensed as such.

right. so. jayfeather is decided. he is going to fix starclan. because dead cats need to get thier shit together and he dgaf.

he spends a decent amount of time arguing with yellowfang and bluestar, because basically no important cats have died. at least we're in omen of the stars so it still makes sense? i have no idea why yellow/blue are still so important. please kill more important cats. it makes us feel things.

but feathertail is also probably going to be involved, i don't know. i haven't read these books (specifically, books 4 and 5 of oots) in forever so i don't really remember what happens. but he's kind of, super done with everything. i think he'll probably try to get the support of mothwing and kestrelflight (which is canon i believe?) and try to work as a team. i feel like there's weirdness w shadowclan too i should sort out.

so yeah, there's some medicine cat bonding, everything is OK, sol is happening? but cinderheart is dealing with that. jayfeather is naturally very upset about disconnects with sol but like he's also dealing with stuff i...i really need to reread outcast and sign of the moon. well, they're on my list after "all of these fucking riverclan novels like why they don't show up in the main series but i still have to read a bunch to be able to write them that's not fair."

alright, well, with that very vague description of what happens, moving on, the prophecy gets revealed to the clans at a whole in like...the ending eighth of this book. trying to maximise the amount of exposure to other clans without messing with the pacing.

so jayfeather and undecided warrior B (definitively not hollyleaf) go to windclan. jayfeather is...very unhappy about this. he does not want to leave. thunderclan is his home, and he's blind, and it's really hard to adapt to a new space and he thinks everyone is going to treeat him badly.

and well, if you've read my culture posts, windclan is....very pro-medicine cats and pro-prophecy cats. funerals. mourning. prayer. is probably the best place to start, but to get to the meat of it, start with general clan culture. to summarize, windclan: religious. but kind of like catholics, they don't believe in an individual connection with starclan. only leaders, and medicine cats, and very rarely members of prophecies have a connection. so. jayfeather. he's twice over. that's very cool to windclan.

so cats are kind of falling over themselves to help him, and like. i mean jayfeather is a grouch and he hates that he needs someone to help him through the territory, but at least they don't treat it like a chore, or like he's pitiable. this is a desirable task. apprentices want to know about his powers. and kestrelflight is a respected part of the clan, arguably more important than onestar, and jayfeather has never really gotten over being shoved in the healer hole as a child like it was lesser or easier to be a medicine cat, and so it's a big change.

and yeah. so i mean. an unobservant reader might say jayfeather has sufficient ego. he does not need stroking. they, of course, would be wrong.

jayfeather has a complex, but it's not an ego issue. he's...he's been denied everything he's wanted, and he's jaded, and weary, and he's never really believed that his clan views him as able and equal. in canon, at present, he's lost almost every cat he's every cared about. alderheart is his strongest remaining tie, and his fear at losing him, but willingness to let him leave, is very telling.

so yeah, jayfeather enjoys being accepted. anyone would. he doesn't really have confidence issues, but....argh. i know why this is good i swear it'll come out in the writing.

anyway, that's...that's pretty much it. jayfeather? done.

hey so this is gonna be a long-ish one. ive decided its been far too long since i did a session, and we did so many i can often forget what happened. i started in july and im pretty sure its been more than half a year now since this whole blog happened. and in that time, we’ve gone through 88 sessions and i want to know if i remember the relevant plot points and what we got up to in the last few sessions. a refresh/reminder if you would.

so i hereby commence my own little recap of act 5 because yeah no, its too much to do a recap of everything and i have andrew for that after every few acts. but i wanna refresh my mind on act 5 for now. so here we go.

1. alternia.. fucked up place. but its a place the trolls live on so what are we gonna do about it? overthrow the government? seems about right, lets do that with the next troll that gets introduced and if its not kanaya idk what andrew is doing by not having introduced the best troll yet. why the long wait? it was the second introduced? i honestly expected it to go in order when i first read act 5, because first we had karkat talk to jade which was the first new piece dialogue in the comic besides the main kids, but then we had kanaya with rose, which was followed by tavros, then terezi (iirc). so id assume we were following that order but nope karkat got fully introduced, then this random fucking juggalo called gamzee made its way into the comic. imagine my surprise.

2. theres been terminology throughout act 5, that i do not fucking know and will not remember and probably never will. like tf is a perigee again? i made a doc somewhere ill probably find it.

3. karkat’s introduction... short but very sweet. and by sweet i mean we got to know the depths of the angry edge lord. and by depths i mean karkat got angry at gamzee for typing in a way that he didnt like so he yapped like a chihuahua. nah, but seriously, i do like karkat tho, hes growing on me but only bc hes a bitch baby and his whole personality makes me want to mock him so thats the reason im not that annoyed and think hes funny, and the most harmless troll. even more so than tavros. and thats saying something. 7.5/10 bc im generous.

4. then gamzee... the high juggalo troll who has the worst typing quirk imo, i cannot for the life of me read it. but hes chill, i actually really like gamzee. hes funny and the least problematic as of right now. 8.5/10.

5. terezi’s introduction next i think. she likes playing as a lawyer with her stuffed dragons, ie by roleplay, shes blind, can see through licking, and she likes eating chalk, maybe its even nutritious. shes good. 9/10.

6. uhh in the process of these intros, there are teams being made? karkat joins gamzee and terezi in, i THINK, the red team?? bc terezi likes red?? could be wrong, i dont remember the teams except that its red/blue to represent sollux’s duality in those colors. terezi then tries recruiting AC but AC is like lol sorry i have to ask this friend of mine who has authority over me for some goddamn reason and terezi goes yuck tf i hate that guy................... yeah thats all we have on the teams. pretty sure sollux had smth to do with karkat about the making of the leaders, and they did the “i hate me” and the “no i hate me more than u hate u” or whatever the fuck that was. they got embarrassed afterwards and deleted their messages. im pretty sure they have no messages because everything ends up being mutually deleted so their logs are actually empty. ngl, kinda enjoyed their convos, made me appreciate their characters. i hope we get more because its good content. i also dont know what order this whole thing is in, who contacted who first? couldnt tell you. ill remember later on. and since im basing this off from memory alone, gotta deal with what i remember. uhhhh so yeah. we havent met all characters yet so the teams have not been officially decided but we got the bases, which is that.

7. god i found it, and the only thing im looking at right now is the terminology list i made and what the fuck?? what the fuck?? you miss a few weeks and suddenly the word nubslurping comes up and you forget what the fuck youre reading.

8. im PRETTY SURE aradia is seen after that whole team fiasco?? or its sollux... maybe. wait. its sollux, right. i just knew someone gets introduced mid way through is all. actually, someone gets introduced after every 20 pages. i have no idea. but ik aradia and sollux go hand in hand.

9. oh shit. OH SHIT! RIGHT! I REMEMBER! so this occurs in the latest session i did, and not the beginning of act 5, but AG and aradia team up, right?? and sollux fucking gets manipulated by them and ??? idk??? they make him find the game, reprogram it and then make him believe its going to end the world (which in hindsight is true, but anyways) so he refuses to play it which was AG’s plan all along so she steps up and becomes leader in his place. but aradia says sollux will still play the game no matter what, but she never went through with the plan for AG but it was apart of a prophecy? that sollux wouldnt be the leader at all? that he’d still play? but it had to go according to plan so it could succeed??? we just dont know why yet. anyways, point being, she still cares for sollux since she did it for him rather than for AG. and thats what i recall. god tf i forgot about that whole drama until writing down “sollux and aradia go hand in hand” which gave me violent flashbacks to the memory.

10. oh and id give aradia 9/10 and sollux 7/10. i do like sollux but if i put him higher than karkat, id get crucified. so im keeping them around the same.

11. man i really like sollux and aradia tho, i may have put him at 7, but i really like their dynamic and i really hope they make up and aradia explains herself about AG. because from one side it looks shitty. and while sollux is rude and never makes up his mind, he apologized to aradia after going off, and that was the only time ive seen him be sincere, so im pretty sure he cares for her to some extent. and i think its somewhat mutual? considering the whole “did it for him” thing. man, i see potential because i actually like both their characters. theyre well written. may not have the best personalities, but i appreciate well written characters and homestuck has the best ones ive seen in a while.

12. oh shit, hell yeah, the more i write, the more im connecting the dots and remembering. however, the more i write, the more i want to just make an analogy post but thats not for now. jesus christ its not all about analogies, mack, this is a recap. but.. how does andrew do it? to not go off track??? hard. telling ya.

13. anyways, didnt we break the fourth wall at some point and have the demon gods or whatever the fuck speak to us in third person for the first time in the comic, after having only gone into second person narrative, right after we were introduced to sollux and his “virus”? the uh, the phrase “the demon was already here” was said, or something along those lines. first line in homestuck to give me the creeps ngl and i appreciate it bc it gives me motivation to know what the fuck its about. its cool bc you have no idea where its going and it sure doesnt have anything to do with the current plot, since the trolls’ session/game doesnt have fucking demons so im curious as to what the fuck that was about. and if i really have to make a theory, i feel it has something to do with aradia’s voices in her head which also connect to the gods rose heard when she started disregarding rules and told dave to look at derse without listening to music bc it was as if he was purposely blocking away their calls. like holy shit, that gave me the shivers. while i do want to know more about wtf happens after act 4, trolls are taking priority right now. just like we did with the intermission. no discussing the kids unless necessary. treat this as its own separate comic. and THEN we can connect.

14. ANYWAYS, tavros’ intro???? that comes afterwards?? with the fiduspawn that made me gag a little on the inside? yep. remember that. fuck that lol. -1/10 but tavros himself is MAYBE a 6/10? i wish we explored his character more in his intro bc right now he just looks like a character made only to be a victim rather than have any depth and i feel thats robbing someone of their full potential. give me more personality andrew, rather than a quivering boy who falls prey to bitches. im expecting more throughout the comic honestly and i hope he gets growth so hes not looked as a “victim” but rather his own character. he is still sweet, and i like him because i want to protect him, but id rather have more info, you know what i mean?

15. oh hell. kanaya had a chainsaw at some point. that made me happy. and didnt she cut off tavros’ legs?? and he got robot ones? and some creepy dude was looking and we called him saggy tits bc hes sagittarius? right? neat. that did happen. pretty sure saggy tits is ACs friend that tells her what to do. the more u know. OH and they all have colored blood similar to their text colors lol. that i remember... so tavros has brown, terezi has blueish green, um. karkat has grey the loser. and apparently it forms a rainbow which is nice. rainbow is good.

16. i dont remember anything else actually

17. wait no i do. AG appeared. shes a petty bully. idk what to say about her. we didnt get that much, except that she hates tavros but is okay with aradia. she also looks like a bottle opener. actually, i think she teamed with aradia to gain leadership rather than to “be friends”. and while that is similar to how karkat did it, meaning the gain, the motivation and how they earned it is entirely different. kinda seeing a trend tho. the leaders of the red/blue teams are both characters who wanted the role, but never had it to begin with. only to win their way into the position. but rather than ask non-stop like karkat did, AG manipulated others so she could be successful. not too sure if she also used aradia for that, or is actually motivated to become friends since they were “past enemies” and she needed a rebound. pretty sure its somewhat both. while AG did mostly use aradia to speak with sollux, what she doesnt know is that aradia is a bad bitch who never even thought about AG and only followed through with the plan bc she had a plan of her own. i guess we’ll look into that later. i lowkey want to know their history.

18. OH AC!!! she appeared for a second as well. love her. shes amazing. 9.5/10. and you may ask yourself, why am i saying “i love this character” but none of them are 10/10?? weellllll its because, and i cant stress this enough, 10/10 belongs to kanaya, i dont make the rules. im waiting for her introduction, shes my favorite and its obvious. sorry.

19. oh huh seems i forgot about the term “lusus”. which.. is.. their parents but not really, its these fucking weird ass creatures that the trolls fought in a cave or something as a child. i dont fucking know. terezi hatched hers and it died? gamzee’s also died but his goat sea dad was never really there to begin with so while it is sad, its more sad that gamzee never saw him? um.. karkat killed his own by exploding his computer bc sollux said dont run the virus and karkat said u cant tell me what to do and did it anyways. so thats on him. but apparently theyre supposed to die, to become prototyped during the game, right? yeah. i remember now.

20. thats.. about it? idk anything else, nothing is coming back to me apart from the shit above. huh.... im surprised how quickly things do come back to you the moment you rant about the plot tho.... handy trick.

cool. neat. fun. this took me too long. but im glad i remember a little bit.

Giving up his Saturday morning to help set up the assembly hall at Aglionby Academy for the alumni Christmas party that evening was not something Adam particularly relished the idea of. But doing this gained him another letter of recommendation for his college applications, so here he was, bright and early, sorting through a box of fairy lights and trying to untangle them.

He’d been fairly sure Headmaster Child had mentioned that someone else was supposed to be helping him, but so far, no one else had shown up apart from the head of the PTA who’d given him the key to the supplies closet and a brief outline of what he was expected to do.

Around forty-five minutes after he’d arrived, Adam heard the bang of the big double doors behind him and turned. He took in the sight of Ronan Lynch in all his glory, stomping towards him, scowl firmly in place.

“Well good fucking morning,” he said, slinging himself into a nearby chair.

“Always a pleasure, Ronan,” Adam said. “What are you even doing here?”

Ronan half-bowed, his expression withering. “Happy helper elf, at your service.”

Adam scoffed. “You’re the one who’s supposed to be helping me? Since when do you volunteer for anything?”

“I didn’t volunteer,” Ronan sneered. “Detention.”

“…Alright. Then since when do you bother to show up for detention?”

“Since now,” Ronan said with a shrug, not meeting Adam’s eye. “Anyway, decorating for parties I’m not invited to sounds exactly like my kind of fun.”

That made Adam smile. “Like you’d go to this thing even if you were invited.”

“How true.” Ronan stood up with a languid stretch. “Okay then, give me a job. What are we doing?”

With Ronan’s help, hanging the lights no longer seemed like such an arduous task, so they did that first now that Adam had got them all untangled and checked that they were working.

Having Ronan there made it less of a chore somehow, and in fact made it sort of fun. Instead of spending the morning lamenting the fact that he’d had to give up a shift at Boyd’s, he was hanging out with a friend. A definite upgrade.

He’d never suggest it to Ronan, but Adam rather thought that the reason Ronan had bothered to show up to this detention at all was him. He’d noticed the looks, he’d noticed Ronan’s poorly practised disinterest, he’d noticed a thousand and one tiny little gestures that might not mean anything, apart from the fact that they meant everything.

How kind Ronan could be when he thought no one was paying any attention.

Of course, Adam could be reading into something that wasn’t even there. Perhaps it was best to continue to tread the fine line they were walking rather than upset the balance.

But Adam couldn’t stop thinking about Ronan, especially when he had given up his own Saturday morning on a school campus he hated, ostensibly just so he could keep Adam company.

He was sure Ronan would never admit that. But he suspected it was true all the same.

After they’d finished the lights, they spent the next hour rearranging the furniture like it told Adam to in the little layout plan he’d been given. Luckily there was already a big Christmas tree set up in the corner of the room so they didn’t have to do that, but there were several wreathes in boxes that were supposed to be hung up on every door both in the hall and the corridor outside.

After that, there was very little left to do. There was still some tinsel in one of the boxes, so they draped some over the pictures that framed the walls.

“What do you think?” Adam asked when they’d finished.

Ronan wrinkled his nose. “Tacky. Tinsel is so seventies.”

Adam snorted. “Does it offend your modern sensibilities?”

“It does actually, Parrish, don’t make fun.”

“I wouldn’t dream of it,” Adam said solemnly. The skin crinkled around Ronan’s eyes, an almost smile, and he elbowed Adam lightly in the side.

“Alright then, boss, what’s next.”

“Uhh, I don’t know, actually, I think that might be it,” Adam said, pulling the plan out of his pocket to look.

Ronan went over to the box where the wreathes had been kept. “Really? I’m sure there was something else in here… A-ha. Here we are.”

“What have we missed?” Adam asked, going over to join him.

Ronan pulled a bag out of the box and peered inside, then he looked up at Adam and raised his eyebrows. “Mistletoe.”

“What? Let me see.”

Adam took the bag from Ronan, and sure enough, inside were two different fake mistletoe flowers to hang up somewhere. Adam exchanged a look with Ronan. “What kind of party is this?”

They both burst out laughing. “Fuck knows. Come on, let’s hang them up then we can get out of here.”

As there were two, they decided to hang them in opposite corners of the hall, Ronan holding onto the step ladder while Adam went up to hang them in place.

“You know,” Ronan said conversationally as they were fixing the last one in place, “when I was a kid I thought mistletoe was something I was really going to have to look out for.”

Adam grinned. “What do you mean?”

“Like, it’s the same with quicksand and whirlpools. Childhood movies had me believe they would be much bigger problems than they’ve turned out to be. I thought the same with mistletoe. I thought I’d always have to be on guard for it around the holidays, in case I got caught under it with someone I didn’t wanna kiss.”

“Well that’s adorable.” Mistletoe now in place, Adam climbed down the step ladder. He leaned toward Ronan a little, resting his arms on the top rung. He felt brave. “And what about if you got caught under it with someone you did want to kiss?”

His meaning was clear, and the look on Ronan’s face said that he understood. He took a hesitant step closer.

“That would be the opposite of a problem,” he said, voice hoarse, and reached out to cup Adam’s cheek.

Adam clutched a hand on Ronan’s sweater, and gently pulled him the rest of the way.

The kiss was gentler than he expected. Shy. Brief. But when they pulled away, Ronan let out a little sigh, and Adam smiled, and then it was the easiest and most natural thing in the world to collide together again.

When they finally stopped kissing, Ronan dropped his forehead onto Adam’s shoulder.

“Parrish, can we leave?” he asked.

Adam brought a hand up to run through the bristles of Ronan’s hair. “Sure. In a hurry?”

“Yeah. I just…I really wanna kiss you again and I don’t wanna do it at school.” He straightened up and glared at Adam, a comical look with his lips kiss-bitten and inviting. “I can’t believe you tricked me into kissing you at school.”

“Oh I tricked you now, huh?” Adam teased, folding up the step ladder. The faster they got out of here the better. “It wasn’t my fault, Lynch.”

“Well whose was it then?”

Adam pointed up in the corner, feeling giddy and excited. “There was mistletoe, Ronan. It’s the law.”

Ronan rolled his eyes. “Fuck the law,” he said as Adam locked the step ladder back in the supply closet.

He took the keys back to the office and then they walked at a fairly brisk pace into the parking lot. Adam just had his bike, which Ronan put in the back of the BMW without a word.

The minute they got out of the school gates, Ronan sped back to Monmouth, wrenching it into a space. The Pig was there, which meant Gansey was home, and Ronan made no sign of wanting to go up to the apartment.

Adam unbuckled his seatbelt and turned in his seat to face Ronan.

“Lynch.”

Ronan returned the look, eyes flashing. “Parrish.”

Adam looked around exaggeratedly. “No mistletoe in here. Shame…”

“We don’t need fucking mistletoe you gigantic pain in the ass,” Ronan said with exasperated affection, and he closed the distance between them once more.

Adam thought that they weren’t treading their fine line anymore.

(He also thought that he didn’t care.)
