*After a bit of reluctance, Themis gets up from her seat, goes up to the stand, and reads the confession of Hercule Curieux.*
Themis: “It was quite immaterial. I take the sleeping tablets and have acquired a certain tolerance. The dose that would send Crowe to sleep would have little effect on me. With the greatest of difficulty, I put him in my wheelchair, then, when the coast was clear, I wheeled him to his room. You will not have realized, Themis, that recently I have taken to wearing a false mustache. Even Sonia does not know that. I put on the dressing gown of Crowe, tapped on your door, then went into his bathroom. Presently, I heard you open your door. I left the bathroom and returned into the room of Crowe, locking the door behind me. I lay him on his bed. I had a pistol, which on two occasions I had placed ostentatiously on the dressing table of Crowe when he was out, so that he would have seen it. I put the key into the pocket of his dressing gown and locked the door from the outside with a duplicate I had made, then returned to my room and began writing this. I played the game, as you English say. I gave to you the clues and every chance to discover the truth, pointing you towards Mr.X, Silas Crowe himself. My only weakness was to shoot him in the center of his forehead and not in his temple, but I could not bring myself to produce an effect so lopsided. That, mon ami, is my nature, and should have told to you the truth.”
“Take my advice for the last time. Tell to Mademoiselle DeCrescendo all that I have said, that you also might have murdered Crowe , had there been no watchful Curieux to stop you. Take the nightmare away, and show how Crowe, not Edward, was responsible for the death of her husband.”
“ I have no more to say. Am I justified in what I have done? I do not know. I do not believe that a man should take the law into his own hands... but by taking the life of Crowe, have I not saved others? I have always been so sure, but now...”
“When the moment comes, I will not try to save myself, but humbly offer my soul to God and pray for His mercy. It is for Him to decide. Ah, Themis and Sonia, my dear friends. They were good days. Yes... they have been good days.”
[Sonia]
...
(Hai fatto una cosa orribile per una buona ragione.)
(Mi dispiace che sia finita così......ma il mio obiettivo è trovare la verità, e la verità è ciò che otterranno!)
...Is that evidence enough? Or do you need more than this?
Your honor, are you ready for the verdict...?
[Sonia]
...
(You did a horrible thing for a good reason.)
(I'm sorry it had to end this way......but my goal is to find the truth, and the truth is what they'll get!)

Silas Crowe is Edward Hyde!
I'm going to be honest here, if i were to give any of my oc's a villain song, i would give Silas Crowe Alive from the Jekyll and Hyde musical. Why, you may ask yourself, well its because with some creative liberty's, i can make a different context to the song to fit with Crowes character:
The first section of this song will be about Silas first manipulating someone into committing murder. he will get hit with a wave of dopamine and at first not know why hes feeling it, but later will know it was because of his love for seeing a person kill another person. he will want that again and each time increase it to get that same amount of dopamine he got from the first kill he masterminded.
The part where Hyde is talking about Lucy will be changed a bit to Silas manipulating Themis into murdering Sonia, talking about how she won't be alone again after the deed is done, which if followed through will be a lie as Silas will testify against her in the trial leading her to be hanged.
The musical interlude will be about Silas slowly accepting his monstrous side, and the final part will be him gloating about the awful things he has done, not giving a single shit about the damage he has caused to multiple people.
Again if im gonna be honest, i had this thought for a while now and thought it would be good to write it down here.

“♪♫Who will be there at the final curtain?♪♫”
Name: Silas Crowe
Alias: Mr X
Occupation: Therapist (Formerly)
Birdwatcher
Serial Killer
Born into a wealthy and loving family, Silas had loads of potential growing up in his life. He became a therapist at just the age of 17 and was quite good at his job. Unfortunately, he decided to quit in order to pursue…………other things. He started to use people’s emotions to murder each other, manipulate them in a way where they think the only option is to kill. It was the thrill that kept him going, and his proudest murder yet was that of Carmen DeCrescendo, whom he manipulated a bodyguard to murder, then taunted Sonia and Themis in a what seemed to be never ending goose chase for the man. It all ended when Hercule Curieux, done with the murders and afraid that Themis and Sonia might kill each other, that he took justice into his own hands by murdering Crowe himself and then committing suicide by not taking his heart medicine.

Genshin impact's English translators have had a lot of honorifics and forms of address to try and wrestle into something that makes sense in English, and I just had a moment of stark clarity on how I desperately wish they had handled Furina's honorifics.
If you had to pick, what form of government would you say Fontaine employs? I say, a monarchy!
In addition to being an administrative building, the Palais Mermonia is quite like a royal palace. The prophecy explicitly references Furina crying on her throne, and you have her literal throne as her seat in the opera house as well.
In which case, the Archon is the king, and Furina would be addressed as Your Majesty.
This localization would also make it much easier to get across that Neuvillette does not refer to Furina the same way the common people do- they are more or less equals, after all. If everyone else is calling Furina "Your Majesty," then Neuvillette can call her "Lady Furina," and I believe this would be much more in line with the spirit of the original.
#genshin impact#furina#furina genshin#furina gi#fontaine#if i talked about what the original honorifics are in chinese#and the ones in japanese which i really like this post would become so long#im not expecting this post to get much attention but if it did the first thing people would probably ask is hey what is it in the original#so ill answer that if necessary...#its convenient also that your majesty is gender neutral...#all of the japanese honorifics are also gender neutral its such a mystery why thats my preferred translation

hello dearest gamers ... today I have spent 3 hours translating the little character descriptions in the Re:Kinder page of Parun's website for the sake of me doing some wiki pages for em' characters and now i will share it with you!!! (ᵔ◡ᵔ) Here it is!! It's very likely a bit flimsy but it gets the point across (i hope).
(Oh yeah by the way the text in brackets "[ ]" is me butting in to clarify things not actual translated text)
Shunsuke
The protagonist of this story.
He holds the key to the story. [to unclasp it, or to solve it! The word used implies that, but I wasn't sure how to write it in in a way that sounded natural.]
A third grader in elementary school.
Ryou
He is Shunsuke's childhood friend!
Has a gentle and kind personality.
A third grader in elementary school.
Sayaka
A friend of Shunsuke and Ryou.
She is usually kind, but can be scary sometimes.
A third grader in elementary school.
Aya
Has a shy and quiet personality. [this sentence was a bit tricky to translate, there's a nuance to it i could not understand but this is basically what it's trying to say]
She has just recently moved into town.
A fourth grader in elementary school.
Rei
Has a strong personality that puts even that of the boys to shame. [in other words, it outshines theirs!]
She also cares about being fashionable.
A fifth grader in elementary school.
Hiroto
Oldest member of the group. [in between the kids, ignore Mami for a second Dx]
Seems older than he actually is, with a composed personality.
A sixth grader in elementary school.
Takumi
Has a weak and frightened personality. [which can also be read as timid and nervous (though it implies fear so frightened it is).]
For all the things that happen [to him] in the story, I give my condolences.
A third grader in elementary school.
Mami
Shunsuke's older sister [a sister figure, not literally his sister but wasn't sure how to write that in] next door.
She and Shunsuke are close friends!
A second year student in high school.
Yuuichi
Appears in the middle of the story.
A young boy that is a bit strange.
A second grader in elementary school.
Was it anything completely new and mindblowing no but is it fun to know what it says yes !!! 😊
#re:kinder#not art#do let me know of any mistakes!!#i do not speak japanese i worked with very limited understanding of how it works and goofy amounts of research😭#but it's honest manual work#cuz the automatic site translation had me raising eyebrows#so 3 HOURS OF SITTING DOWN HERE I GO!!!😍😍😍#basically me trying to see what adjectives bro uses to describe the characters#tell me. i am writing the personality section for them pleas e tell me#oh yeah i am writing wiki pages for the main cast cuz im insane#YOU KNOW HOW THERES RPGGG MAKER RPG WIKIS AROUND WITH REKINDER ON IT#i want the characters to have nice pages like all the other characters in those sorts of wikis#and i so conveniently have a nearly 40k word document on this game i made for the purpose of analysis cuz im sane#SO WHY NOT#specially for the spanish wiki because at least the english one has pages made for all of them spanish one has a sentence💔#in the characters page at least cuz i added silly tiny descriptions of the characters in the main one#THE SILLY LITTLE GUYS WILL GET THE PAGES THEY DESERVE!!!#because you know reading wikis on your favorite characters is very fun#i want people to be able to do that with them too#and it also gives me an excuse to talk about this game for more hours than i already have#even if its to a wiki#anyway play re:kinder 😊#oh yeah if youre curious on the honorifics . boys are given kun girls are given san. mami is given oneechan#didnt really mention em cuz they aint used in english

i have google translate thai > english bookmarked because i've been using it so often, but just now i wanted to translate "no smoking" to georgian to see what that would look like and so i clicked the google translate bookmark, moved my cursor to the english box, realized i couldn't type there because it's where the results show up, moved the cursor to the left, and recognized that this is the box where the input is supposed to be thai, and then frowned at the screen for a a few seconds in genuine consternation thinking to myself well that's not very convenient. i'm really not confident in my ability to correctly translate and spell "no smoking" to thai. now i'm going to need a way to translate "no smoking" from english to thai so i can put it into this box to magically translate it to georgian for me. so anyway that's sort of how awake and alert i feel today
#*#loud disclaimer that google translate is fun and convenient but should never ever ever be trusted with anything#and that goes triple if one of the languages in your translation is not english. though tbf in this particular story i'm the problem

Maria: “…….Themis had Hercules heart medicine in her room, so the prosecution believes that Themis stole it to make sure Curieux was murdered, her fingerprints are on the heart medicine as well, corroborating this theory of theirs.”
[Sonia]
...I see.
(...I still don't believe This did it, but... it's still possible... what else is there to do but keep going with the investigation, though?)

Incorrect quotes generator, featuring Poirot Characters, GAA characters, my ocs, and @elder-sister’s ocs.
[Note: these are how I view these characters, apologies if they aren’t 100% to their canon personality’s.]
Japp: What's that?
Sonia: Chocolate.
Japp: What's chocolate?
Sonia: Candy. Do they not have candy where you're from?
Japp: Yeah. Grapes, nuts.
Sonia: No wonder you're so bitter.
Lemon: Where are your parents?
Iris: What are parents?
Lemon: That’s just about the saddest thing I've ever heard.
Hastings: Wow, great work on the Halloween decorations. Where did you get the fake skeletons?
Hercule: Fake?
Carmen to Herlock: Turn that frown upside-down!
*a little while later*
Carmen: What are you doing?
Herlock, trying to do a handstand: You told me to “turn that frown upside-down” but it’s not working .
Japp: Your Honor, I hereby submit the following to the court:
Japp: Hercule, what the actual FUCK?
Sonia: Hercule, I think we have a problem.
Hercule: What, the fire?
Sonia: No, the- wait, what fire?
Hercule: Oh forget about it, this sounds more interesting.
Carmen: I have so much energy, I want to run a marathon or commit a crime... which should I do?
Themis : Please don’t get arrested.
Carmen: No promises! <3
Gina: Why not both? Get creative!
Carmen: Wonderful suggestion, thank you.
Themis : Please don’t encourage them, Gina.
Sonia: Editor's note: What the fuck?
Themis : We have to plan, we have to figure something out.
Gina: Themis , when have any of our plans ever actually worked? We plan, we get there, all hell breaks loose.
Japp: Are you having another depressive episode?
Carmen: A depressive episode?
Carmen: I'm having a depressive series and we're just on season one.
Hercule: I dunno if I'm ready to process the ramifications of this bullshit.

I can't read the aj book reviews on goodreads though because I feel like people collectively did not get that the gender thing was A) in service to her other themes not the entire point of the book B) not a girlboss everyone's a woman now thing either
#maybe the idea started like oh what if i just used she pronouns for everyone but the writing is more nuanced than that#it's the empire taking over different cultures it's not like universally a good thing#it's what many of the characters grew up with so it doesn't occur to them that they could be a different gender#it's not a universally bad thing either it's not like the book goes 'oh the empire is wrong not to have two specific genders'#it's just like. in the same way this empire enforces gender and restricts bodily autonomy through constant surveillance#your empire does the same to you. it's just like asking you to question things#but some characters have no problem with their given pronouns. it's all socially constructed that's the point#breq was probably the first time i was really envious of someone's gender though#there's no like. status significance to her pronouns in her culture. she doesn't wear different styles based on it#then you see her having to translate herself to other people's expectations when she's outside of the empire#and she's constantly botching it even after 20 years#never related to someone's experience with gender more#it's like i don't really do that. lol. but you're welcome to interpret me however. it is simply none of my business#i'll be whatever is most convenient when i'm trying to rent a place to stay. assigned woman at rental application#i never agreed to this system it's just a weird cultural quirk that makes my life slightly worse but otherwise isn't important to me
