@sasheneskywalker i love when you enable me to ramble about things because oh my god do i have thoughts.
so recently, i made a post discussing the phenomena of DC x DP and DC x MLB crossovers and why they exist and part of that post was discussing how largely speaking, at least half, if not more of the Batfamily fandom doesn't read the comics. if they interact with canon DC material, it's adaptations that are their own sequestered universes and oftentimes not remotely comic accurate or seeking to be. the most obvious example is the Young Justice cartoon. i'm adding a cut to this post because it just got so long i'm so sorry.
a lot of times, when people are discussing the "why" of this oversaturation of fanon-only fandom, they blame Wayne Family Adventures. and i think, to a point, i agree WFA is responsible for a boom in this fandom. but as someone who's been in the fandom long before we had WFA, to me it's the other way around. WFA was DC's way of meeting the demand for this easy-to-get-into, easy-to-consume content about the Batfamily that predicates itself on the comics just enough to be vaguely the same characters, but has a more sitcom, slice-of-life sort of vibe so DC could profit off of this section of the fanbase that otherwise wasn't consuming its primary material. and well, it's definitely worked. not only that, but i have a weird theory that the decline in the MCU also led to the rise in the Batfamily fandom. when you consider the fan content that made the MCU popular within fandom, it's that 2012 "they all live in Avengers Tower and Thor is eating poptarts and Clint is in the vents and there are movie nights every Friday" sort of vibe. those were the fics that were a hallmark of the fandom. and as the MCU has strayed from well... quality content in general, but specifically well-thought-out crossover content where characters can have their own arcs but also exist in a wider story where they clearly care about each other, that fandom was sort of homeless. so where do you go, if you like a superhero found family where you can have villains for angst but also stick them all in one big family-like home for silly crack and have a plethora of options for gay ships? well. you go to the Batfamily. if you write a crack/fluff Batfamily genfic with silly vibes and low stakes instead of say, a fic about a very specific comic issue even if it's a popular comic, you're *going* to get more traction for the former. because the fanbase largely just isn't reading the comics.
and i feel... complicated about this. because on one hand, Don't Like Don't Read has been a tenet of my fandom experience. i'm very pro-fandom and that includes fandom content i don't like. and to an extent, i do think this sort of should apply to Batfamily fanon. i enjoy having my moments with other comic purists, giggling over exceptionally painful OOC headcanons or even facepalming in pain over some content but it is on me to not interact with that content. you don't make fandom a better place by being hostile to fans who engage with canon in ways you don't approve of. and frankly? we as comic readers are not going to get non-comic fans to read the comics by being asshats to them. no one is going to want to pick up any comic if we get a superiority complex about it. and also, i feel like we're all lying to ourselves a little bit insisting comics are so, so easy to get into. they're not. we can just all agree, they're really not. i've been single-handedly helping my sister get into comics, specifically Wonder Woman and no matter how simple i make it, i watch her get frustrated trying to understand what pre-Crisis and post-Crisis and New-52 and Flashpoint and all these things mean and what a retcon vs a reboot is and what a Crisis Event is and what the hell Diana's current backstory even *is*. sure, you can give someone a beginner list of comics to start with and slowly dip their toes in the water but sooner or later, *something* is going to confuse them. comics as a medium straight up aren't going to be everyone's cup of tea. and if someone *just* wants to read silly fluffy fanfiction about the Batfamily, i can't entirely begrudge them for not wanting to take the hours and hours out of their day to understand this medium. it's not an accessible medium to get into. "read this and this, but this run is out of print and this run wasn't collected in trades at all but also make sure you read that event in order and this is a good comic but the backstory in it is retconned and you *have* to read this it's so important but it's also really bad because the author kind of sucks" sounds. ridiculous for someone who like. just wants to read some stuff about Nightwing. sometimes, we all make reading comics sort of sound like a chore, not a hobby.
so my point is, i do extend some grace to Batfamily fanon for existing. i think my biggest gripe is, as i said in my other post, misuse of tags (if you're not creating content about comics, maybe you don't need the comics fandom tag on Ao3, just the all media types umbrella tag) and my far bigger gripe: when panels are taken out of context to support fanon only headcanons. if i could impart *anything* onto the Batfamily fandom as a comic fan it'd be this: if you haven't *read* the comic, don't spread the panel. if you don't even know what comic it's *from*, don't spread the panel. it's fine to use comic panels to discuss your headcanons, but so often i see someone spreading a comic panel from a comic they haven't read, and when asked where it's from, they can't source it. a silly example that comes to mind is a post going around, taking a panel where Dick, in his internal monologue goes "here comes the sun. do do do do." and the post is claiming it's from him getting buried alive. when that panel comes from Nightwing (1996) #140, and he gets buried alive in Nightwing (1996) #127, two completely different moments frankensteined together. if you're going to not read the comics, that's completely fine, but unless you're sure of the source and the context, panels shouldn't be spread around. i'm sick of this specifically happening to Red Robin (2009), with ppl claiming Tim has totally killed people because he blew up some of Ra's' bases, when those panels within context, make it clear he gave everyone time to escape. and in a later arc in that very comic, Tim grapples with the idea of murdering Captain Boomerang, and *specifically chooses not to*, because he doesn't agree with murder, even against the person who has hurt him the most. if you'd like to write fanfiction where Tim is pro-murder and has done some sketch things, i'm totally on board and would probably like to read it. but there's no need to pretend it's canon from a few panels you saw out of context.
beyond that, i think it's not *entirely* correct to say that fanon is harmless. whenever i see very WFA-positive posts, they often default to the argument that WFA is fun and silly, and comic fans are killjoys for not liking it. which. i think is complicated because the issue is, WFA and fanon don't exist in a vacuum. if you like WFA power to you, i don't think it's the worst thing ever, but i do think it's degrading to these characters because honestly? they feel incompetent in the webtoon. it's one thing if WFA was solely a slice-of-life sort of deal, just having silly episodes where Bruce is taking on a PTA mom or they're all fighting for the last cookie. but when WFA attempts to take on more serious plots with these characters, it *fundamentally* falls flat in understanding them. i get it, Bruce comforting Jason having a panic attack because a noise reminded him of the crowbar felt cute in a microcosm, but i'm so serious when i say that storyline destroyed how like. half of this fandom understands Jason Todd's relationship to his trauma. it doesn't understand how he reacts when he's triggered, what coping mechanisms he seeks out, and how he would handle Bruce comforting him. even if i can believe for a brief moment Jason *would* be triggered by something like that, him running and trying to hide and then getting a hug from Bruce to make it okay is just. painful. WFA needs everything to be wrapped up in a nice, neat little bow. so even when it starts to tackle interesting concepts, it makes them fall flat with its need to be soft, low stakes, hurt/comfort. there was a two-parter episode that dealt with the complicated mutual hatred/jealousy between Tim and Damian that *almost* really interested me because for once, it felt like the webtoon wanted to explore canon messy dynamics. but of course, it had to be fixed with one conversation and a hug. you don't mend the *years* of issues these characters have like that. WFA isn't in character because these characters are hyperbole cartoonified versions of themselves to fit within the medium and be a cute happy family.
because that right there, is the crux of it. the Batfamily fanon seeks to simplify the Batfamily and force them into a nuclear family. there are so many fantastic posts on here discussing how the nuclear family-ification of the Batfam is eroding decades worth of complex histories so i won't go too far into that. but what i will say is that there's this need, in the Batfamily fandom, for the Batfamily to exist as a unit. they are a *family*. (honestly i think calling it the Batfamily is a misnomer and has been for years but we're in too deep now.) they exist to each other first, and any teams or friends they have come secondary to this family unit. you can *specifically* see this demonstrated in what headcanons are becoming popular these days. i have an entire lengthy meta in my drafts about how i *loathe* the "the Batfamily meets the Justice League" genre of fanfic because it makes no *sense*. in order to have this genre of fic exist, you must operate under the assumption that no one in the League, or adjacent to the League, knows the Batfamily exists and are thus utterly shocked to discover Batman has kids. and to make *that* work, you have to strip *every single Batfamily member* of such important dynamics and friendships so you can lock them all in Gotham for their whole lives. Dick can't have the Titans, Tim can't have Young Justice, Duke & Cass can't have the Outsiders, Jason can't have the Outlaws, Damian can't have the Supersons, Babs can't have the Birds of Prey, and so on. because if they had these relationships, they would be known to the League. the Batfamily fandom doesn't care about this, it's just "silly fanfiction", it's not trying to be serious. but how can you say you like Dick Grayson as a character if you don't understand the Titans *are* his family? at some points of his life, moreso than the Batfamily even is. it is constantly repeated to us in most comics with Dick how much the Titans mean to him. he *needs* them to be who he is. the same extends to every other Batfamily member, most of which have been full League members at this point. but in fanon, that doesn't matter. the Batfamily are a sequestered unit first, and all of those side relationships are secondary and easy to toss away, if it makes your fanfic work better.
and because they have to be a unit first, you have these forced relationships that dump years of actual canon material for the sake of making them get along. the Batfamily fandom has its favorites and well. it's no secret it's usually the boys. Jason and Tim by *far* stand out as fandom faves so, their dynamic is a heavily explored one. it does matter that in canon they don't tend to get along and especially don't see each other as family. what matters is that you can push dynamics onto them. and so fanon gets all twisted up about which Robin Tim actually idolized as a kid (Dick) and what member of the Batfamily is pro-murder but still an older sibling figure to him and looks out for him (Helena, or if you want the dynamic of once tried to harm Tim but they've reconciled, Jean-Paul) in favor of who's the most popular. Dick, Jason, Tim, and Damian are always going to be the standouts for popularity, but it's specifically Jason and Tim who are getting fanonized the most. and that's because really, we don't have much canon content of Tim that *isn't* the comics. for Dick you've got Young Justice (tv), for Damian you've got the DCAMU, for Jason you've sort of got the Under The Red Hood movie, but Tim sort of lingers in this limbo. (yes, he's in Young Justce (tv) and Titans (live action) but in neither is he the main character nor given much depth) so, he gets a *lot* projected onto him and has become fanonized. and even with Jason's animated movies, you don't see him interact with Tim, so people build it from the ground up how they want to see it, disregarding of canon comics. i think it's what makes him so popular in the first place- he's malleable into whatever you want or need him to be.
and of course, the fanon ignores other characters in the Batfamily it doesn't know about. i feel like you could create a tier list of Batfamily characters by their popularity, going from the fandom main characters: Tim, Jason, Bruce, Alfred, Dick, Damian. to the underrated: Steph, Duke, Babs, Cass. to the forgotten about unless they're convenient for a story: Kate, the Foxes, Helena Wayne, Carrie, Selina, Harper Row, Maps, Minhkhoa Khan. to the absolutely unknown: Helena Bertinelli, Jean-Paul Valley, Onyx Adams, the Clovers, Julia Pennyworth. it's not lost on me that the ignored characters tend to be women and people of color. which is both a canon and fanon problem, DC will continue adding interesting characters to the Batfamily, play with them for a few years, then drop them to default to the "Batboys" again. and it's a vicious cycle of the fandom only caring about the "Batboys", and thus people entering the fandom via fanon osmosis won't have content about the other characters, therefore, they won't be interested in those characters enough to create it, and it's just this ouroboros consuming itself, no matter how much canon content we have of these other characters. and it's ridiculous just how large the Batfamily is becoming because of this, which is why i'm a pre-Flashpoint fan, because then the Batfamily was contained enough to actually feel like a family with every character having nuances relationships with each other, but i digress because those thoughts could be their own post.
and the thing about fanon is it doesn't exist in a vacuum. DC has started turning the comics to accommodate for what fans are asking for, because fans will beg and beg for content they're not going to consume. Tim Drake: Robin had Tim as a coffee drinker because that's the fanon accepted headcanon. and the resolution of the recent Gotham War arc was for Bruce to buy this new manor for everyone to move in and call him. nevermind that most of these characters have their own homes and have zero reason to be moving in with Bruce. Tim had his marina in Tim Drake: Robin, Dick has Bludhaven, Cass and Steph have their little side of town in Batgirls (2022), and so on. these characters are being forced together as a unit, as one big happy family living together, to appease what non-comic fans want and it's damaging comic relationships. Robin: Knight Terrors saw Jason and Tim team up and working together, which i've seen varying opinions on but i personally despised. their interactions made zero sense for any of their canon history, but it appeases them being this close sibling relationship that fanon acts like they are. also the fears they faced in their respective knight terrors didn't make sense for either character and *only* worked as a moment of bringing them together so they could reassure each other and have this weird dreamscape bonding moment. the canon is bending itself to the will of fanon rather than building on the pre-existing complex relationships. Tim barely even gets along with his most important team in Dark Crisis: Young Justice because it seems the only important relationships the Batfamily can have is with each other. and when we do see them outside of the Batfamily, it only seems to be to relive the glory days like with World's Finest: Teen Titans, instead of developing them as they currently exist. this isn't recent in the comics, it feels like you can trace it back to the New-52, but it does feel a *lot* worse over the recent years. WFA is fine when it exists in its own bubble, but the simple truth is, DC content never exists on its own. the adaptations will reflect back onto the comics. (the damage the Young Justice cartoon has done to some characters should honestly be studied) and so it does frustrate me a bit when fanon-only or adaptation-only fans act like we're being nothing but killjoys for being frustrated with this. since they don't read the comics, they don't see how the comics are suffering as a result of this.
people argue about what's out of character for the comics they don't even read. i'm sorry, but "bad dad Bruce" is consistently canon. that man is just kind of shitty. when you take someone who has the drive he has, who has this need for the Mission first, who needs a teenager in spandex next to him to keep him off the ledge, that guy is sort of going to be a shitty father figure. he just is. not on purpose or with malice, but when you compare him to any other dad in a big DC family, he sure takes the cake. it's why characters like Oliver Queen tend to *really* fucking hate Bruce for how he treats his kids. Bruce loves fiercely, but he doesn't do well with putting that love first. and his love is a controlling one, he is very particular about controlling how others in the Batfamily are "allowed" to operate. it's what drives the wedge between him and Dick, it's why Steph is never a true daughter to him. (besides the reason of her needing to be a love interest to Tim first, anyway-) i've never understood the massive outcry of people reacting to Bruce kinda being shitty in comics they're not reading. there are some moments that get ridiculously OOC with how cartoonishly evil he is (the whole Gotham War arc and that... complicated mess with Jason) but largely if you want sitcom loving nuclear father Bruce, you have to accept that is a fanon thing, not a canon one. the Batfamily being a nuclear family in *general* is fanon. most of the "Batkids" don't actually see Bruce in a particularly fatherly light and begging for moments where he calls them his kids or they call him dad outside of incredibly specific circumstances is just OOC.
it's getting harder and harder to exist peacefully in this fandom it feels like, if you don't comply to the standard fanon has set. i'm happy people are having fun with their blorbos, even if in ways i dislike, but that "harmless fandom fun" does ripple it's way back to canon, eventually. so i end up pretty tangled with my feelings because are fans at fault for DC making these poor decisions? probably not, but it certainly feels like an unfortunate cause-and-effect situation whether at the end of the day, nobody is happy. and of course, i know some fanon-only fans are striving to be more canon accurate and care about canon dynamics more than others, but for them it's always going to be an uphill battle with the above-mentioned out-of-context panels thrown around and ever-pervasive fanon overtaking anything that's truly seeking to be canon compliant. so really, it sometimes feels like we're all losing.
#necrotic festerings#batfamily#batfamily meta#dc comics#fandom meta#fan studies#fanon vs canon#i deleted paragraphs of this to try to make it shorter. it failed btw.#anyway i got into comics when i was like 12 with the dark knight returns#and if i hadn't been into this medium for a decade i don't think i would be able to get into it as an adult so i get it#bc i'm trying to get into marvel comics and fuck ME am i confused as fuck.#do marvel comics have like. an equivalent to crisis events?#is the ultimates like their version of the new-52? i do NOT know#it's so hard and daunting so trust me i get it#if you never wanna pick up a comic god i respect you you're so right this is fucking miserable#i want to live and let live in fandom but *god* i'm struggling here#i used to bend to the will of fanon fun fact#i wrote my share of tim and jason fics playing into fanon tropes. god i hate them *now* but they did fucking numbers.#and i used to care more about getting attention in fandom than being accurate#i've matured now. it's why i write on anonymous so much to remind myself this should be for me.#anyway i could do a character study on every batfam member as fanon vs canon#ESPECIALLY tim and jason. i know so much about them trust me.#jason todd fans annoyed me so much i once sat and read almost every fucking jason comic. i didn't even like him.#but i tell you what i know that man and he will never leave my top five characters on league of comics.#this is so long. is anyone going to read all of this.#if you do you're a fucking trooper i'm saluting you.#this isn't even all of my thoughts i had to condense myself.#bc i also have thoughts about how this means some characters no longer get to exist outside of the batfam#because they only exist as a member of the unit#ergo we have very little current content of helena bertinelli or onyx adams or duke thomas

I think the most baffling thing about the Tulpar as a vessel to me is the fact that the ship really did only have a one way communication system.
I know it was cheap but even the most basic of vessels regarding major transport would have some way, shape or form for outside communication. Not only that but there was absolutely no form of innate emergency signal to show they may have been offline or in trouble despite clearly having a system to dock credits if they went off course. It's another factor that really shows that bad situations are made to get worse by design. One person who is required to relay all information to the crew and make all the choices without feedback. No way to update or call for help in case of a dire situation. No way to inform of inner personal conflicts and acquire procedures accordingly.
It really is like they are all in some sort of fucked up solitary confinement. They have their own world with strict roles that are meaningless in the end, as long as the cargo makes it, it doesn't matter what happens on that ship to the company. They don't want to hear anything and will come to conclusions on what happened based on how much pay they can withhold from the workers. Even what they do send is short, sterile and corporate to the extent it was likely written and sent out with a command by some random unmanned computer in an office.
There's something to be said about how unfair it is to force absolute power and control onto one person when you as an entity could do so much more to offload it but I've said it many times before so I won't again.
#its just like idk i dont think Curly was a bad captain because we only have this scenerio and I certainly dont think a man like Swansea#would like him or have very little issues with him specifically if he was incompentent or too lienent in the past but I do think the stress#was making him worse and worse as being a present leader as it dawned on him how much he actually had to handle like I really think he#just wanted to do yknow normal captain pilot stuff and fly the ship and yknow the little stuff like make sure things run right and over tim#the constant stress and strain of having to make every major choice started to grate on him and freak him out cause they cant even fucking#eat unless he pulls out the scanner and starts cooking like he has to choose the meal likely or have a vote and i make that part of the#reason he seems so indecisive and inactive is the fact he has to make the choice all the time and he's hoping he can at least make the crew#feel a little more in control of themselves as people by staying out of affairs like the game or disputes because god he literally has to#choose for them all the time like thats a lot of responsibility monitering their sleep their breaks food consumption thats all on him like#it really should be another persons job entirely as thats almost like absoulte contrl over the lives of everyone else that PE forces onto#that title and its also crazy how everyone accepts it even if they dont like it like they broke the food machine open rather than get the#scanner they all waited two months before Jimmy appointed himself leader its so scary how conditioned they all are to the environemnt#cause that sort of mindset is sadly real where people just wait everyone just waited until it was getting real dire and then they still#followed Jimmy without too many complaints like i saw a fic or post where Anya acknowledges they all kinda just let Jimmy do what they want#because he became the captain and it was stupid on all their parts cause they could clearly see how bad he was and yet he was captain so#they just fell in line to their roles and thats a bigger point towards how PE treated them and the complacency capitalism brings to you#just like something that irks me because idk I know Curly is slow to act but he's not as like unopinionated as people make him out to be#like he does try to find solutions but they are still restricted at the end of the day by what PE provides them and I think his biggest c#crime is being in his own head too much and not giving Anya that emotional stability cause like idk man was he supposed to go to Home Depot#himself and install like padlocks? even if the let Anya sleep in medical after she pointed it out she was already pregnant at that point#like we arent seeing the inherent issue that no one not even Anya herself was thinking of the preventative measures because a)there was a#point nothing was happening that necessitated them b) it would've been the responsibility of PE to address them pre and post incident and c#there is only one person on the entire ship given the authority to do anything. You can not make multiple important choices in one instance#in such little time and Curly should not have had that total power like i think the most interesting thing in takes that really blame Curly#is that level of control they give him over the company. Like again i think about the three days we miss between the eval/party and the#convo/crash like i think people switch them around as if those scenes happen in succession when they are broken up and its heavily implied#Curly and Jimmy just havent been talking vs the depiction that she told him and for like three days Curly was just chummy despite the fact#Jimmy and him just had a blow out fight like the next time we assume they talk is during the crash sequence cause he honestly hangs#around Anya more which i think is really important because she trust Curly to defend her himself but not his judgement to give her somethin#to defend herself as she knows he believes her but also knows she's not seeing the danger the same and its heartbreaking and more

I support everyoneâs right to read whatever nasty smut they want, but I see some of these dark romance books that get popular and I canât help but pass severe judgement on them. Not because theyâre âtoo darkâ or âall smut and no plotâ but because theyâre either so poorly written youâd think ChatGP was the author or they fail to commit to the bit of their purported genre.
Much like the Joker bemoaning the state of crime in Gotham, I just want a better class of book for people.
#i read Blood Meridian for in high school; trust me when I say books being âtoo darkâ is not a problem#this post brought to you by me finding out the male love interest of Haunting Adeline#is a thinly veiled Tim Ballard expy who busts sex trafficking rings as a job#so despite being a rapist to our heroine heâs actually not that bad of a guy#i had the same issue with Butcher & Blackbird (which I really wanted to like)#everyone fell short of being truly awful without some traumatic backstory to excuse it#like can we please get some real nasties in here!!!#thereâs just way better shit out there I know it!#no wonder people were upset about Louis/Lester revealed to be abusive; everyoneâs reading stories bad dudes have their edges sanded down#and if a woman is nastier and meaner than the man? well she might as well be a war criminal who should be tried at The Hague

Duke Thomas gets added to the payroll
Bruce Wayne (seeing Duke walk past his office): Duke.
Duke backwards walked to Bruceâs office.
Duke: Sup?
Bruce: Did you check your bank account? The direct deposit shouldâve hit.
Duke: The what? Oh you were serious about that?
Bruce: Of course, youâre not only my son, but you do work for me and you deserve an income.
Duke: Thanks dude, but I canât take your money I work at the library.
Bruce: Duke, trust me. You deserve this. I do it for all my kids⌠except Tim.
Duke: Why not Tim?
Bruce: Long story⌠he owns part of my company, plus he- he definitely embezzled a lot of my funds before I noticed so him working at my company is his paycheck.
Duke (alarmed): That was him?!
Bruce: Yeah, but thatâs not important currently. You enjoy your first payhcheck and Iâm proud of you.
Duke: Thanks man.
Duke left the office, checking his phone as he walked to his room. He nearly dropped his phone seeing the four digits in his bank account that had five dollars in it three days ago.
Duke (shocked, happy): Three- Three thousand dollars?! Woooooooo! Iâm eating good tonight! No wait, game stop here I come!
Duke ran out the house passing by Stephanie and Jason.
Duke: I can finally buy a PlayStation!
Jason: Wait until he finds out itâs a monthly payment.
Stephanie: Iâll tell him later. Want to go tell Tim about it first?
Jason: 100% yes.

So I know how we have a lot of Jason and Dick or even Alfred drugging Tim in fics.
I have never liked that what so ever.
Like I don't think we as fandom really think about it.
I want you to imagine your brother or grandfather adjacent person handing you a drink that without thinking you take. You drink it and then nothing your are just out for over twelve hours.
You don't know what happened, you will never know what happened in that time frame all because you weren't sleeping the amount they wanted you to.
Also these are trained vigilante's who have more than likely witnessed rape cases with drugs who have had to help someone who was roofed home why in the fuck would you do that to one of yours.
Now another aspect why in the fuck would Jason Todd no drugs to children, and Dick Grayson who has had his bodily autonomy taken from him do this to their brother.
Alfred ok maybe he's done it to Bruce so many times he just doesn't think.
But look me in the fucking eyes and tell me they wouldn't lose their actual fucking shit if that was done to Damian or Tim.
They wouldn't be cool with it, they wouldn't laugh at it.
Imagine Jason and Dick chilling in the cave it's been a long patrol about to head to bed when they see Alfred come down and hand Tim coffee an energy drink pick your poison. They watch as Tim looks at Alfred before shoving it away.
"Master Tim it would be beneficial to your health if you drink your beverage."
"Sorry but I don't feel like being drugged tonight."
Dick wouldn't even blink before shattering the mug. Jason would be screaming at Alfred.
They would never trust that man again, the man who fed and taught them someone who had their backs.
Betrayed everything it doesn't matter the reason.
Or what if Tim drank it.
He starts slurring his words, starts to almost fall over calling for Jason or Dick.
"It was Drugged."
Falling unconscious into Jason's arms.
Jason who is screaming for help they don't know what it was they assume someone poisoned him not their sweet grandpa Alfred. The whole family rushing Dick practically crying only for Alfred to not blink tell them to get him bed as if it's normal.
In conclusion Dick Grayson and Jason Todd would not be the the spokesmen for drugging your baby brother and then carrying him to bed. They would not tamper with Tim or Damian's food. They would not ok with little brothers falling out of chairs or losing time not knowing what happened. All because they weren't following someone else's rules.
Well Tim hasn't slept in twenty four hours oh ok then let's drug him without his consent because I want him to go to bed.
That's some Arkham level bullshit.

During a patrol in Gotham one night, Red Robin comes across a strange sight.
A young woman stands over a crumpled body with a sling shot primed and ready, aimed a man with a rather large hand gun. Itâs clear sheâs protecting the woman who looks like sheâs been hit over the head and had her bag nabbed, as itâs ripped and contents are spilled everywhere.
The girl sits shaking, she isnât scared at all, standing strong with a shard of glass aimed at the manâs crotch.
Tim jumps down and disarms the man smoothly before turning to the young girl, who upon closer inspection seems to be around thirteen years old.
âAre you hurt?â
She shakes her head and stares at him for a moment with awe in his eyes before her eyes widen and she turns to the person behind her, âBut she is! That guy was cornering her and I tried to help but he hit her and-â
âAlright, I understand. Would you like to help me get her to the ER a few blocks away?â
The girl nods with a determination Tim remembers seeing in Dick and Jason in their Robin days and he smiles.
He doesnât ask her what her name is because side he knows heâll follow up and find something to feel guilty about, but the girl seems to have her own plans.
She shows up a couple of days later, standing on a tall building with a cheap Robin outfit on.
Tim is confused before he drops down and she gives a big grin and mock salute, âHow can I help?â
Tim smiled a little before shaking his head, âTaking the title of Robin, are you?â
She nods, now more bashful, âWell, I want to help people. I donât want to fight exactly, but⌠well, sometimes you bats are too busy with the villains to notice the little guy and- bro to say youâre a bad hero-â
âYouâre right, itâs okay. We can only do so much and sometimes preventing more damage being done saves more lives, but there will always be a cost.â
She smiles, bright orange, and impressively curly, hair getting in her eyes and sticking to the poor quality glue of her fake domino.
âI want to help. I⌠can help, please.â
Tim answers after a solid minute of silence, âWhat is your name?â
She frowns, âArenât I supposed to have a secret identity?â
He smiles in answer, âYes, but I know what you look like and I can find out, Iâm asking out of politeness.â
The girl looks like she could pout and Tim feels strangely old at the sight, even if heâs still got a few months before he can even legally drink.
âCarrie. Caroline to be specific.â
Tim smiles, âWell, Carrie, hereâs the deal. I will meet you here or somewhere like here every night and until, and only until, you can land a hit on me will I agree to let you help.â
While Carrie doesnât look pleased she nods, a clear sense of hope in her eyes even as she looks nervous.
She looses the first fight, and the second and third and fourth, but she gets better and better.
Tim doesnât tell anyone about Carrie Kelly, nor does he tell her that he does end up doing a back ground check and finds two dead beat parents more focused on weed than their incredibly skilled daughter.
When she proves to be relentless in her desire to save lives he sends her to a teacher to help her stay hidden and safe. Heâs not like Bruce, he doesnât send her overseas to some dangerous people, but close by and to someone he trust to not hurt her nor tell anyone else about the strange young girl whose managed to give him a taste of his own medicine.
Selina Kyle is more than happy to take in the girl when she watches her sling shot fire crackers at muggers.
When Carrie comes back and meets Tim on a rooftop, she not only manages to hit him but knocks him off his feet.
Tim grins at her, pride filling his mind and making him understand Bruce just a little more.
But unlike Bruce, he isnât throwing her into the fight at all.
Tim Drake is the one who pays for her school pills while her yippie parents refuse to work or spend money on her, and sends her real time footage of medical lectures in various collages across the country.
Carrie doesnât become Robin, nor did she even wear that suit after the second night and he gave her a basic training outfit that properly covered her eyes and hair, but she does become something else.
She becomes Cardinal, the vigilante that swoops in to save civilians and provide the medical care that saves hundreds of people and allows the ambulances and hospitals to have a chance.
When she makes her debut the other bats worry about a new kid making bad choices, probably inspired by them, but Tim ignores it if only because heâs actually proud of her and trust her in a way he hasnât trusted teammates in years.
After a year of this, a young girl asks for a meeting with Mister Tim Drake at his company and, purely so he wouldnât have to do more pointless numbers, he lets her in after she passes the security check.
The girl who comes into his office is barely ten, cute little clips in her dark bob hair and a big book bag almost half her size behind her.
Tim recognised her instantly once he sees the bright yellow shoes sheâs wearing.
This little girl, name Mia Mizoguchi, has been stalking him and Carrie for a few months now.
After he enrolled Carrie at Gotham Academy, the young girl nicknamed Mapsâ had been asking Carrie a lot of questions. Carrie had been good at avoiding incriminating answers, but had fallen for the younger girls clever trap as she casually spoke out infomation that could help with cases and Carrie delivered it back to Tim.
As soon as he realised that Maps had done exactly what he had done and figured out who Carrie was he was impressed. Because even if Carrie was new to the game, she had a skill for tricking people into looking away from her and had done well to stay low.
Maps had made the connection back to Tim, apparently.
Luckily, unlike Bruce, he wasnât ignorant to their little stalker and actually knew her family from a few galas and charities. To be fair, Tim also wasnât clouded by grief, but as he lets the girl explain how she totally doesnât know who Red Robin is but if she did know who he was she would want him to know that a new drug trade route was actually being covered by a cotton candy company and she has over sixty pages worth of proof.
When he shows up to The Nest (named by Carrie) with Maps behind him, he finds Cardinal waiting with an excited gleam in her eyes.
Due to her being so young, Tim doesnât allow Maps to go into the field until sheâs the same age as both he and Carrie were, but sheâs quick to show her worth taking over coms and doing an insanely detailed level of detective work that Tim canât help but be a little jealous of.
Just like Carrie, who has been trying with Selina about only becoming Catgirl if Catwoman stops being a criminal for a few weeks now, he sends her to someone else for mentor ship.
Maps is a sweet girl, but she loves to talk and has a lot of friends who have most of the same interest, so he sends her to the one bat member he trust most.
Cassandra Cain immediately tells Tim that he has to adopt both of them and canât quite understand why them both having living parents matters.
Itâs Cass who gives Maps her vigilante name, Sparrow.

A Bird in the building is worth to in the car. Or something. Part 23
yes, I do have too much fun with these part titles masterpost
The efficiency that Danny and the kids were ushered, privately and securely, into the parking garage and the waiting car with was impressive. Bruce gave the order and then in a breath they were at the car. Unable to fight the instinct, Danny had kept his wings around the boys the whole way, as if he could protect them from the world.
Even in the car Danny still wanted to protectively drape his wings around them. He was grateful when both boys let him. He was grateful that Mr. Pennyworth didnât comment on the wings at all. He just wished Bruce had gone with them.
It was completely understandable for Bruce to have to check on the situation and the people who had been in the building before leaving, but it left Danny feeling on edge. It would be better once Bruce was back in the car, and Danny knew that everyone here was safe. If it had been possible, he would have preferred to wait in the safe room. With the incoming cops that hadnât been wise.
What felt like too long later, Danny watched Bruce walk towards the car through the tinted windows, flanked by very alert security. The door opening and closing felt very final. Danny let out a breath he hadnât exactly been holding, but had still felt clogged up in his chest.
Bruce leaned across the center console and part way into the back seat. âAre you all alright?â
âYes, Father,â Damian said where he was just barely leaning into Dannyâs side and cradled by a wing.
âYeah,â Tim said. âBut, B, he was following me. He said he saw me going into the building. He called me a dormouse. I didnât⌠I didnât even notice him until he came into the building.â
Danny carded talons through Timâs hair, hoping to calm himself as much as Tim or else he might go back and show the Mad Hatter how terrifying he could really get.
Bruce didnât look any more pleased at that. âWeâll look into it, and Iâll pass along the information too. Weâll have to put some security on you for a bit in case he has others under control who are still after you.â
Tim frowned at that and Danny couldnât resist leaning over to press a kiss to Timâs hair, as presumptuous as the act was. âLet us protect you, hummingbird.â
Tim looked up at him. âHummingbird?â
Danny just gave a little shrug. It seemed to fit. He didnât think too much about it. It fit in the same way as being able to wrap his wings around them and the need to protect them.
âAnd what about you?â Bruce asked.
Danny glanced at the other man, tilting his head quizzically.
âAre you alright?â Bruce clarified.
âHe was not before the event,â Damian jumped in quickly. âHe was obviously fatigued and suffering from either a headache or over stimulation from the noise.â
âOr both,â Tim added. âWe thought he might be leaving to go home.â
âI was just leaving to get lunch,â Danny sighed, even though they werenât wrong about the rest.
Bruce frowned and held his hand out, which Danny just blinked at.
âHand, Danny,â Bruce explained. âI want to check your pulse.â
Danny froze. He was suddenly, excruciatingly aware that his hand was still tipped in talon and small feathers. He snatched his hand out of Timâs hair, worried now that his hand alone had been too much, as distorted as it was. He crossed his arms, hiding his hands against his body.
âIâm fine.â
Bruce didnât pull his hand back. Instead his whole face softened in a sad way that confused Danny.
âWe arenât afraid of you, Danny,â Bruce said. His voice was a comforting low rumble that Danny wanted desperately to trust. âYouâve been nothing but kind to my family and today you kept them safe. The physical changes you went through to do that do not scare me.â
Danny glanced down and away, trying to avoid looking at any of them in the tight space of the car. âThey scare me.â
Damian clicked his tongue and leaned further into Dannyâs side, further in under the wing. Tim reached for a hand. Not wanting to accidentally hurt Tim with the sharp talons, Danny reluctantly let him take it. Tim wrapped his own fingers confidently around Dannyâs.
Bruce still waited with his hand out.
Danny chewed on his lip, an old nervous tick. Bruce waited. The boys stayed close. Finally, Danny let out a huff of air and offered his hand up to Bruce.
âYour pulse is a bit erratic,â Bruce said after he had counted Dannyâs pulse along to the ticking of his watch. He didnât let go of Dannyâs hand after it, instead he ran his thumb against Dannyâs wrist. The touch almost made Danny shiver in a good way.
âI, ah, adrenalin crash, I figure,â Danny said once he could find his words.
âAre you alright returning to the Manor so that we can keep an eye on you?â
âOh I get asked this time?â Danny teased. Teasing was easier.
Bruce just chuckled. âWell you are awake.â
âI⌠yes,â Danny answered. It was less about him being looked after and more so that he could look after the boys. If he went home now, heâd worry all night.
Mr. Pennyworth finally started the car. âWill you be needing medication or any such health items from your apartment, sir?â
Danny shook his head. âI keep some extra doses in my bag. And really, just Danny is alright.â
âThen to home, Master Danny.â
Danny tried not to miss the touch as Bruce pulled away and buckled in for the drive.

Yandere batfam one shot/imagine thing
I'll probably make a part 2
You met Bruce while you were working as a waitress for a gala. It was a second job to pay rent. Maybe he brought Selina or some other girl or maybe he came alone.
Either way you two end up in a room together and end up sleeping together. Just as youâre pulling on your clothes he asks to see you again. He even offers you a check (letâs say itâs for 500k). You take the money promising to see him again but you donât for about a year.
After a year of him searching every corner of Gotham he finally finds you. And surprise surprise you have a three month old baby girl.
He goes up to you and begs you to let him be in the babyâs life. After a few weeks of bribes (and him secretly stalking you) you finally make a deal with him. If he works from home he can take care of the baby during the day.
So you brought your baby to the Wayne Manor. You expected maybe a servant or maybe Bruce to answer the door. You were not expecting a young man to open the door. He had short shaggy black hair with an undercut and a K-pop hair style. He stared at you with his piercing blue eyes-
âTim drake! Thatâs who you are! I used to love watching your letâs plays! I love your sense of humor!â Tim was surprised. Being the middle child (especially the middle boy) he often feels left behind by his siblings, so having someone notice his accomplishments for once felt nice.
âDrake. What are you looking-â a short boy came up behind the gamer. He had a darker complexion and slicked back black hair with piercing green eyes. You smiled at him and he straight up slammed the door in your and your babyâs face. Your eyes grew wide and your face fell into a scowl.
You heard shuffling from behind the door and when if opened you saw Tim holding the kid by the scruff of his collar as one would do with a misbehaving animal. âSorry about that Miss.â Tim smiled at you. âIs there anything I can do for you?â
âIâm going to be late for work. Here give her to Bruce. Her name is Echo.â You give the baby to Tim. âOh there you go. Support her head now.â You threw the bag in the small rude kids face. âEverything she needs is in there. Iâve left instructions inside for how to take care of her. If she doesnât eat that much try tickling her tummy. Iâve labeled the extra bottles of her food so if sheâs really hungry give her some and if itâs not enough call me Iâll get here as soon as I can. I donât want her drinking any of that store bought crap. Understand?â
âYes maâam.â Tim smiled.
âGood.â You ruffled his hair. Then you turned to the younger boy. âBe good to my baby ya hear? Or else Iâll milk papa Bruce for every penny I can.â You ruffled his hair too. You then kissed your baby and went back to your car.
Tim shut the door and immediately Echo started crying. Bruce and Alfred came running at the noise.
âNo⌠I missed her.â Bruce said. He looked at his three youngest kids. âHey sweetheart.â Bruce tried to grab Echo. But Tim held her close. Everyone looked at him surprised.
âFather why did that rude lady drop off a baby.â Damian scowled.
âSheâs not rude. Sheâs your future Step Mother.â Bruce smiled at the thought of your and his wedding. âNow Tim, give my baby here. Sheâs crying.â
âNo.â
âNo? What do you mean no?â Bruce seemed flabbergasted.
âShe trusted me to hold her child. This is my baby sister.â
âDrake! Give father the baby. Sheâs being loud.â Damian covered his ears. Echo looked over at him and made a grabby hand gesture at him.
âIt looks like she wants Master Damianâs attention.â Alfred pointed out.
âbut-â Tim was cut off as Damian took the baby.
Echoâs cries grew quiet as her youngest older sibling held her. While Timâs obsession with You and Echo became apparent almost immediately, giving him the praise his own family and the Media refused to, Damianâs was slow. It started with someone (echo) actually liking him. After all he went from being showered in attention under Taliaâs thumb to being practically ignored at Wayne Manor.
Dick was by far the kindest to Damian, being a mentor to the young boy. But he could still bite back at Damianâs snark. Barbara and Stephanie took none of his crap, to the point where they barely spoke to him. Cass and Duke held no qualms about fighting with a kid. Jason was like a cool big brother and while he wasnât at the manor often he always made most of his time there focused on the kid. Tim and Damian had a very strained relationship. And while Bruce loves Damian thereâs always a bit of strain, and guilt on Bruceâs part. If heâd stayed with Talia maybe Damian wouldnât have to grow up in a cesspool of Violence and mental agony.
âBack to your old ways of not wearing protection father?â Damian smirked.
âDamian⌠give me my Daughter.â Bruce said gently but firmly.
âIts nice to know you fought for her more than you fought for me. Though to be fair to you Ummi did shove us together.â He snarked as he held the baby whoâd fallen asleep. Bruce went to grab her but Damian stepped back. âAh ta ta. You wouldnât want to disturb her right?â Damian smirked.
Over the next few hours Damian was mainly the one taking care of Echo if only to stop her from crying.
And at the end of the day when you finally got off work to pick up your sweet baby you were surprised to see Bruce, Damian, and Tim all playing with her in the living room. (What was more surprising was that her attention was mainly focused on the brat from this morning Damian.) She cooed as she saw you and you rushed to pick her up and gather her things into her bag.
Damian glared at you as you took Echo from his borderline iron clad grip. Who were you to take his sister, his blood sister mind you, away form him? (Her mother but we're not going to get into that right now.)
"Sweetness how about you just slow down. I'll have Alfred prepare you a drink. Which kind of tea do you like more Earl Gray or Jasmine." Bruce smiled and twiddled a piece of your hair in his hand.
You smacked his hand away. "No thank you. My baby and I need to get home." You said and quickly hurried out of there.
"Father you can't let her leave!" Damian said.
"Yeah! Don't you want that nice lady to be your wife?" Tim agreed.
"I was talking about Echo." Damian deadpanned.
Bruce ruffled both their heads. "Patience boys. Have a little faith in your old man." He smiled as you walked away. Before the month was out he'd have you and echo safely tucked away in his arms in the deepest recesses of Wayne Manor.

Writing Prompt⌠kind of? Definitely write more if you want but this was a cute little âfic starterâ that popped into my mind.
ââ
Danny didnât know the first thing about art. This is an important fact.
âSam, why am I even here?â
âSuck it up, Casper.â
âThe show or the school?â Danny privately thought Casper the Friendly Ghost was the best thing to have come around. It did wonders for improving relations between Amity and inhabitants of the Zone.
Sam smacked him on the arm. âYou know which one. Youâre just here to be the normie judge. You donât need to know anything about art.â
âEveryone here is like an art acolyte or something, Sam! Iâm an engineering newb in a room full of people with art PhDs!â
Sam rolled her eyes and checked her manicures. âIf you call Fenton Works newb level, then the rest of the world would be Neanderthals. Seriously thatâs why youâre here. The artâs gotta appeal to the untrained eyes too. I trust your judgement.â
Danny gave in. âThanks, Sam. That means a lot.â He followed after Sam but after a moment, he whined, âBut couldnât you have taken Tucker? Dudeâs got four untrained eyes!â
âHeâs busy with his internship. And you were already in Gotham.â
They reach the exhibition, Sam and Danny being welcomed in. Samâs parents, while not the richest of the rich, were known art connoisseurs and respected people in the communities that dotted around the world. On top of being the descendants of the man that invented the deli toothpick cellophane twirling device, that is. Sam was standing in their place today- begrudgingly- because theyâd promised to pay for an entire month of Gotham architecture tours and a trip to Japan. After all, Sam had much of their knowledge too. If anyone could say anything about the Masons, it was that they were passionate in their chosen field. L
âThe contestants are in the room next door. The judge panel is beginning.â The person at the door informed them. He gave them a slip of paper and a pen to mark their choices in each field. Danny breathed a sigh of relief and began wandering around.
After he wandered between the oil paintings- âoo, this one. Reason why⌠the vibes are nostalgic. I like it.â- and the various depictions of a specific ship, Danny was pulled to a stop by his core reaching out. He looked up and what he saw took his breath away.
It was just a photo.
But it felt like he was there, on that rooftop, crouched among the shadows and watching the early rays of muffled light hit the tops of his city. His core thrummed. It felt like protection. It felt like he was being fulfilled, like Danny was once more becoming Phantom and that he was watching over this city heâs beginning to understand.
Danny, almost fevered, scribbled down the name [A Robinâs Nest- by Tim Drake] as his number one choice to win the contest over all. And, at least, to win the first in the photography division.
ââ
âOh, Ancients, are you okay?â
Danny had wandered around in the interim as the votes were tallied. He hadnât been paying attention when he smacked into a little kid that could have been his little brother.
âUhm. Iâm good.â
Danny helped the kid up. âIâm Danny. Iâm sorry I smacked into you. Are you sure youâre not hurt?â
âYeah. Iâm Timothy Drake. Iâm good.â
Dannyâs smile widened in shock. âLike the photographer? Oh, wow! I really loved that photo! It was amazing! It felt like I was up there with the vigilantes!â
As he spoke, Danny glanced around for the kidâs designated adults. Hm. Thatâs odd. Everyone and their parental figure was accounted for.
âOh.â Timothy flushed. âThanks! I hoped the judges liked it too.â
Danny smiled, a small secretive thing. âOh, Iâm sure they will. Will you tell me more about your photography?â
âOh, if you want!â

are tim and toby ever nice to each other :(
This made me realize Iâm really lacking on proxy bonding (besides Kate and Toby) cuz I donât want people to think theyâre ALL just misery and fighting. They just show affection in more subtle ways. SO I WILL BE UPPING MY TIM/TOBY/BRIAN/KATE JOYFUL ANTICS SOON. In the meantime . I have a few old drawings of them being happy and messing around .
said it in a few text posts BUT tim taught Toby to drive and taught Toby a lot of car stuff, which is Very important cuz toby ends up becoming a mechanic in my AU . I think they do a lot of stuff like that together - tim and Brian teaching Toby a lot of stuff his dad failed to teach him, and I think they also have a better grasp on like⌠gender? Like Tobyâs dad was really cruel to his family about gender roles, especially toby âbeing a pussyâ and âneeding to man upâ and getting pissed if he caught Toby doing any âfemale choresâ for his sister/mom . But then Tim and Brian are teaching him how to garden in the back yard and theyâll buy a box of shitty cheap cookie mix and ask toby to make it cuz theyâre tired and half the time when Toby says something sexist (more so smth engrained in him like âIâm not a fucking chick donât tell me what to doâ, not smth out of hatred for women. JUST TO CLARIFY.) theyâre like âtoby what are you talking aboutâ . So having like actually masculine role models who, ILL ADMIT IT HERE THEY ARENT GREAT THEYVE KICKED TOBYS ASS (and vice versa, the violence goes both ways), are typically more understanding of his situation, who donât mock or kick him when heâs down, trust that heâs actually strong enough to handle himself, teach him important life skills, pat his back when he needs it, tell him theyâre proud of him . etc etc. I think it means a lot to Toby. I like to think he finds himself modeling himself after them, even though he(and everyone else) insists theyâre also assholes who think theyâre better than the rest . N he really misses them when they ditch Alabama
This was a rlly quick ramble itâs 8am I need to go do my makeup so Iâll hopefully touch on this later cuz I wanna make more happy art with the proxies

A/N: Iâve been hyper fixated on Batfam and DC in general for the past two months, and this is what my brain has been cooking. This is based on an fem!OC I made, but I converted it to GN!Reader. Or attempted to. Might write an official one with the oc. I donât know. Iâm new at this stuff and doing this on mobile to boot.
Warning(s): Yandere themes, Obsessive behavior
Reader grows up happy, healthy, a safe away from Gotham
Momma and Daddy (step-father) adore their darling reader
Daddy is kind and understanding; gives good advice, encourages reader, comforts reader after nasty break ups
Momma is sassy and a bit possessive of her baby reader
Momma never tells reader anything about their biological father (He was a big city playboy that missed the court date for custody is all she said)
Reader has a much younger half-brother from Momma and Daddy, who reader also adores
Little Brotherâs are annoying, but you have so many interest in common
Suddenly Momma and Daddy are dead; (tragic accident or murdered)
Readerâs Bio Father, Bruce Wayne is called and flies into town via Private Jet and whisk you off to Gotham
Bruce canât get custody over half-brother due to Readerâs step-grandparents fighting him.
(They tried to keep Reader too, but blood is thicker than water in the eyes of the court. And, Bruce has enough money to make that water run dry)
Bruce isnât exactly like Momma described, heâs distant and a bit cold with reader. (Like he doesnât know what to do.)
Bruce gets upset when Reader talks about missing Momma and Daddy, especially when Reader talks about Daddy.
Bruce doesnât introduce Reader to the family right away.
Reader doesnât see anyone, but Bruce and Alfred for the first week at the manor.
Bruce avoids reader, but gets upset when Reader ignores him
Reader starts researching their new family. Everything they can find in the media, even the company.
(Family Buisness funds the Justice League? Gotham gains a new Vigilante almost every time Bruce gains a new kid? Jason Toddâs death and reappearance. SuspiciousâŚ)
Reader finally meets the others.
First up Cassandra.
Quite, but watches reader like she knows all of readerâs secrets. (Thatâs terrifying.)
Readerâs instincts scream that sheâs dangerous (Reader trusts those instincts.)
Reader is still nice, they get along. Cass rather be alone, but itâs cool. Theyâre cool.
Second up is Duke.
Duke is great. Official bro. Passes all the vibe checks. (Most normal one in this house.)
Readerâs meta abilities go haywire around him, so Reader needs to be careful. (Readerâs not sharing that secret yet. Not till they share what Reader suspects is their secret)
Third, Dick and Barbara.
Dick is a whirlwind, coddling and pitying, treating reader like a sweet helpless child then leaving. (Heâs a busy popular man)
Barbara is polite, but a stranger.
Reader tries to be friendly, but canât get past the stranger stage.
Fourth Stephanie.
Stephanie politely ignores reader, but reader genuinely wants to hang out. (Similar interest, close in age. Please, can we be friends? âŚâŚâŚ.)
Reader says theyâll keep trying (It happens⌠eventuallyâŚ.)
Fifth, Tim.
Tim just brushes Reader off with a blank look and disappears.
Reader can never find Tim. (Always in the cave, at work, on patrol. Heâs a busy busy busy sleepy man that avoids even the mention of Reader)
(Stephanie hangs out with Tim though, but they still ignore reader. Itâs fine. Reader is fine. It doesnât hurt.)
Sixth is Jason.
Jason is mean.
Calls reader spoiled, says reader a an ignorant privileged princess, Daddyâs pet, a brat, etc.
But, then leaves when reader starts to snap back.
(He looks like heâs struggling not to strangle reader almost every time reader sees him.)
Seventh is the youngest and readerâs half brother.
Reader is excited to meet him, reader already has a younger half-brother. Having two sounds even better!
Damian is cruel
It breaks readerâs heart.
Damian either ignores reader, or mocks reader viscously. Heâll push and shove and throw things at reader. (Wonât draw a weaponed though, heâs past that.)
He brushes off all of Readerâs attempts at sibling bonding.
All this goes on for a few months.
Reader tries so hard to get close to everyone, but theyâre either avoid them, ignore them, are cruel, or they just donât have the time.
Readerâs life in Gotham is⌠different.
Readerâs a commodity, and, surprisingly enough, most people like Reader
School Friendships form, which reader worries are because theyâre a Wayne child
(Which is true, but not in the way Reader thinks; hint: it involves other types of night avians)
Teacherâs appreciate a humble Wayne (Damian goes to the same school, Reader is a relief to teach)
Reader is quite talented, not a prodigy, not extraordinary. Just extremely approachable.
But, like all good things there is a downside.
Reader wants to spend time with their new friends.
Theyâre invited to Galas, lunches, brunches, vacations, shopping, etc.
And Reader WANTS to go
But, Bruce wonât let them
Itâs not safe
(Which Reader understands, thatâs why they never really explore Gotham, but still brunch couldnât hurt, right?)
So Reader has no one to lean on or connect with. Itâs isolating.
Instead Reader spends hours talking on the phone to their old friends and family back in their small town.
Thereâs a silver lining though: Things are going to get better before they get worse
So much worse

THINK YOU NEED SOMEONE YOUNGER + ONE PIECE MEN
they start to realize they might be a little too old for you ft. crocodile, mihawk, smoker, shanks, doflamingo, corazon
info: will do this for other fandoms too i think, angsty on some; not proofread
crocodile never felt insecure, at least when it came to your relationship. after he left impel down and came to look for you, things got a little... weird. he was avoiding you. you knew it wasn't because he didn't want to bring you into his business (he did it more than once), it was something you didn't really understand. before you could even confront him about it, he said out of nowhere one day: "did you... get with anyone while i was away?" he looked at you with a hard stare. "someone... younger?" you almost laughed at his question, but you held yourself back. your arms circled his waist and you rested your chin on his chest. 'i don't know anyone younger that is as attractive as you, sir.' he grinned, holding the back of your head with his hand. "good."
mihawk noticed how you and zoro interacted during his time at the island. he wasn't suspicious that something was happening, he knew you would never cheat on him or break his trust; but... a thought started to spread in his mind like poison. once zoro and perona left, and you two finally managed to carry on with your married life alone, he asked you one day while you drank tea together. "how do you feel about me being... older?" you looked at him with raised eyebrows and 'the only thing that matters to me is you. i fell in love with your personality and the way you treat me, not your age.' he hummed, a deep sound that you know reverberated on his chest. even if it was faint, you could see a soft pink dusting his cheeks.
smoker didn't think about your age gap until he overheard some of the new recruits talking about you two. captain smoker having a younger partner is a little weird isn't it, was what they said. when he was back home and you were resting against his chest, softly playing with the hair on the area, he told you about it. you looked up, your eyes shining, 'old pan makes good food'. the laughter that left his lips was one that he always reserved for you, his most sincere and genuine laugh; he pressed his lips on the top of your head, murmuring praises and love confessions against your hair.
shanks really didn't care about it, not as much as other members of his crew did â with how well they knew their captain, the man would be destroyed if you decided to leave him. 'she might go for a younger guy, when your thing doesn't get up anymore.' they usually voiced their concerns in the form of jokes, so they wouldn't be too harsh on their captain, but it was effective. those comments made him start to realize what you two were â lovers. one day, without telling you, he and the crew left. simply left the island, leaving you behind with only an note written "don't look for me." in a messy manner.
one thing about doflamingo is that he gets whatever he wants whenever he wants. and since the moment he laid eyes on you, you were his. the people that tried to comment on your age gap always "mysteriously" disappeared, even if they were from inside his organization. no one could talk about him and his partner like that. if he ever brought up the topic, it was only to test if you were seeing anyone or wanted someone younger (he knows you don't. he knows everything); your praises towards him and your love always left him pleased â he would give you the same in return.
corazon is frequently insecure about your relationship. he wonders if you really love him, if he's good enough for you, if he's being a good boyfriend, if he missed any important date that he should've remembered â your age gap (made worse by your height gap too) is only another one of those concerns. no matter what you say, he often asks you if you wouldn't want to be with someone younger and with a better family than him. one day, after he asked that for the millionth time, you answered: "we can have a family of our own, rosi. you deserve happiness. you said once i made you happy, so i will stay. the only way you're going to get rid of me is if one of us is gone." he chuckled and smiled widely, as he often did around you and law, hugging you tightly against his body. 'i adore you. with all my heart and soul, i love you.'

Hello! Hope you're okay :D
First your writeing it's so good and i love it, and this is mu first time asking you for a request :)
So idk if you aleady did this, i don't remember reading it but i wanted to know how do you think Damian would react when he finally meet his brothers partner?
When JASON borough you home, Damian wasnât certain whether he was seeing the same perpetually annoying Jason, especially when he watched him look at you as though you were the only one in the room.
It was something completely new, for as long as Damian could remember Jason was a man who held great resentment and anger within himself, which often resulted in making him prone to rash decisions and act out on his self destructive tendencies. So seeing him smile with you, laugh with you, joke with you was a side to him that only Dick had told him stories about.
Damian wasnât fond of trusting anyone outside of his own family, but heâd be stupid to not see that you were an extremely positive influence on Jason, and soon found himself hoping that his brother wouldnât be the one to fuck this up via self sabotage. However he didnât have to fear that being the case when he saw the way Jason seemed more at peace by your side then he ever did in his entire life, his shoulders were no longer hunched and the furrow in his brow was less prominent, his jaw was no longer clenched and is more relaxed.
It was as though Damian was looking at a completely different person and he couldnât help but find himself being thankful to you for having such unwavering patience with Jason and secretly hopes that you continue to do so for the nearby future. Damian could clearly see that you helped Jason through the moments that he wouldnât dare bring up to his own family and while that hurt, heâs glad that Jason wasnât alone with his thoughts anymore and was able to carve out a future with you.
âTheyâre good for you Todd.â Damian said once you were out of earshot.
âIâve known that since the moment they didnât shy away from my scars and brokenness.â Jason told his little brother.
âYouâre not broken.â Damian corrected as he saw the look upon Jasonâs face as he looks at you play with Titus, â youâre healing.â
When TIM brought you home Damian didnât know that he even got a partner, he didnât bother to think that Tim was capable of engaging in a romantic relationship with anyone, given how co-dependant he was with that stupid laptop of his.
Damian understood that Tim and himself didnât have the best of relationship, it wasnât perfect and it wasnât exactly ideal for two people who were meant to be considered âsiblingsâ, but Damian didnât want him to be mistreated by anyone regardless.
So when he began to take notice how you took care of Tim without it being overbearing or controlling in the slightest, you made sure he ate properly and took adequate rest whilst letting him uphold his responsibilities. You trusted Tim to take care of himself when you knew you were out of your element and he trusted you to keep ahold of his heart no matter what, and Damian could see that in the way you would boast about Tim as though he was gods gift to humanity; Which to you he very much was with a side order of sarcastic wit.
You reminded Tim that he was more then what he could give to other people, a lesson that Damian truly believed Tim needed to learn and if he learnt that through your relationship then that was good enough for him.
âI didnât know you were capable of being in a relationship.â Damian told Tim and he sighed, crossing his arms over his chest.
âThanks Damian, much appreciated.â He said sarcastically.
âYou didnât let me finished Drake,â Damian told him before continuing, âhowever IâmâŚglad that you found someone who makes you sees your worth.â
Tim smiled softly. âThanks Damian.â
When DICK brought you home, Damian was quick to follow you throughout your visit to the manor in hopes of getting a good gauge of your character, he valued Dick as his brother and wasnât just about let him date anyone he decided to pick up from the side of the street one day on a whim.
Damian wasnât exactly trusting towards you at first -despite the many stories Dick had told him about you- genuinely thinking that by next week Dick wouldâve dumped you and bring home another one of his short lived romances, and seeing as how commitment wasnât exactly a thing Dick was well known for. So he wasnât expecting much to come out of your visit but when he saw just how happy Dick was with you, holding your hand, practically glued to your side and just acting like an human version of a puppy dog whenever he was with you it was almost sickening; well it was but you get the point.
Not once did Damian see Dickâs adoring eyes wander from you, he was completely entranced by anything and everything you said as though it was gospel. You both were the epitome of lovesick and Damian didnât know whether he should be happy that it seems as though Dick found someone whom he could be genuine with and no be judged, or be grossed out by how much pda you do.
It was a tossup between the two but Damian found himself gaining some form of respect for you throughout the day and soon would in your corner for most of your playful disagreements.
âOh come on Damian, youâve barely known my partner for a day and now all of a sudden your pally pally?â Dick whines as Damian stood by your side.
âSo? Itâs obvious theyâre the one in charge of this relationship.â Damian replied and you couldâve busted out laughing at Dickâs expression afterwards.
