You killed me with this.
If he keeps letting it happen with Tarantula, like, he can't see it as special anymore, not when the first time was so horribly tainted by Mirage. Is he starting to normalize it? Feeling this way, maybe he convinced himself that this is how it should be.
Reverse Robins makes everything surrounding Mirage so painful.
So you’re Dick, and everything involving Mirage just went down. Your teammates begin to gossip about you cheating, when that isn’t what happened, and like with all other gossip, it makes its way up into the Justice League.
Now you’re Tim and Jason. For almost a decade, you’ve had to deal with this perfect golden child doing everything you’ve ever done but better. He’s a natural born acrobat; Bruce can’t stop bragging about how skilled he is at such a young age. He’s a natural charmer, never struggling to connect with the heroic world in the same way they did. He’s happy. You’ve never had the privilege.
And then you hear that your perfect sibling “cheated” somewhere along the grape vine. That perfect facade seemingly comes crumbling down. You run with it.
Suddenly, every opportunity you get, you bring it up to take Dick down a peg. It’s payback for every time you’ve felt lessened. There’s a primal hurt beyond hurt in the back of Dick’s eyes, but you do your best to shake off the guilt because it’s finally his turn.
Now you’re Dick again, and every time you think you’ve started to recover from flinching at every touch and second-guessing every person who ever approaches you, your two older brothers torment you again.
Can we make it a little more fucked up and heartbreaking?
Dick is barely 18.
He’s barely 18 and he thinks his girlfriend wants to sleep with him for the first time.
He’s barely 18 and he’s just lost his virginity with his first serious girlfriend.
He’s barely 18 and he finds out it was all a lie, all a ruse.
He’s barely 18 and now all his friends are calling him a cheater. None of them are taking a moment to even listen to him. He gets told that he’s an idiot for not recognizing that an imposter wasn’t his girlfriend.
He’s barely 18 and now his older brothers have heard about it and won’t stop bringing it up, won’t stop rubbing it in his face. He has no idea why they even care, it’s not like they’ve bothered with the Titans before, it’s not like they’ve ever shown any interest in Dick’s life at all.
He can’t live in Titans Tower because all of his friends have turned on him. He can’t live in the manor because Tim and Jason harass him every chance they get. He can’t live with Damian in the penthouse because he’s on a long term mission in space and won’t be back for another couple months.
He’s barely 18 and he’s relocated to BlĂŒdhaven, of all places. He has a crappy apartment and a crappy job, but at least it’s away from everyone else. But still, every time he has to go to the batcave, every time he has to interact with anyone in the hero community, he’s reminded of what happened. He can’t escape it.
He barely eats. He barely sleeps. He barely speaks.
He goes out at night beating up would-be muggers and other common goons. He makes enemies in BlĂŒdhaven as Nightwing. But Dick Grayson stays firmly under the radar. Dick Grayson hardly leaves his apartment.
When Damian and the others from his mission get back, Damian hears Tim and Jason snickering about something related to Dick. They insinuate that Damian is going to be disappointed in him.
“Highly unlikely,” he tells them, not bothering to stick around to find out what they’re talking about. He’d rather hear about it from Dick.
Except he can’t find Dick anywhere. And none of his littlest brother’s friends will give him any answers as to where he might be.
He hates to use it, but he eventually checks the data he knows Bruce keeps on them from the trackers in their arms he thinks they don’t know about. And when he finds his baby brother has been spending majority of his time in BlĂŒdhaven, he’s shocked.
He grows concerned when he enters the apartment only to find Dick heaving over the toilet. He tries to ask what’s wrong, tries to help, reminded of the days when Dick was his Robin and he was Dick’s Batman, but Dick just keeps shaking his head and pushing him away.
When he finally manages to get Dick to tell him what’s wrong, Damian feels like the entire world just tilted.
He feels like a failure. Like he failed the most important job he had. He feels like he should have been there to stop it, instead of being in space.
Because what’s the point of being a hero if he couldn’t save his baby brother – the boy who’s practically his son – from something like this.
“You did nothing wrong,” he tells Dick, holding him tight.
“Yes I did,” Dick insists, his voice small, cracking.
“No, you did not.”
“Then why does everyone keep saying I did?”
Damian’s heart shatters into smaller and smaller pieces with each sob Dick lets out.
“Because they are all morons,” he tells Dick. “You. Did nothing. Wrong.”
Dick is breaking down in Damian’s arms, muttering, “It was supposed to be special.” He presses himself closer to Damian, as if he could disappear inside his arms if he tried hard enough.
“I know,” Damian tells him with a sigh. “I know.”
Tonight, Damian will make sure Dick is alright. Tomorrow, he’ll bring him home with him so he doesn’t have to live in the cesspit that is BlĂŒdhaven.
And then the day after-
The day after, he’s going to make everyone who hurt his baby brother regret they were ever even born.

Thinking about how dick wasn't just spoiled rotten by bruce but the whole justice league THAT WAS THEIR FIRST BABY 😭 he definitely got anything he wanted a miracle he didn't turn out badly really
He was absolutely spoiled rotten by every single one of them. Every. Single. One. Even the ones who tried to pretend they couldn’t stand him.
Hal Jordan hates Batman on principle. They do not get along. He antagonizes him at every possible opportunity. He insists he thinks Spooky’s little bird is creepy and some sort of entity, no way that’s a real boy.
He also caves every single time Robin asks him to take him flying. He makes constructs of little propeller planes and has Robin sit in the cockpit, flying it around for him while Robin pretends to steer.
That’s his little buddy. Sometimes Hal sneaks sour punch straws into meetings in the Watchtower and feeds them to Robin, who’s crawling under the table. He pretends he doesn’t know that Barry, Oliver, and J’onn are doing the same thing with various other kinds of snacks and candy.
Oliver buys him over the top expensive toys for his birthday and Christmas.
Diana gives him a sword in his tenth birthday and promises to teach him how to use it.
Clark takes him flying all the time and often brings him to the farm where Ma and Pa Kent also spoil him rotten, because he may as well be their first grandchild.
They all adore him. They all spoil him. It’s a wonder he’s not more of a brat, to be honest.

... Dick was literally written to be a mirror of Bruce...? Bruce literally has an unhealthy relationship with Dick because of their resemblance but how they handle it so differently despite everything ?
... What, like, I (kinda) can understand why people think that Cass is the answer, but... Dick being in fourth? Really?
Which batkid does Bruce see himself in to a concerning degree?

Dick Grayson is the type of person anyone from any age group can like.
Toddlers see this much bigger person than them, but don't feel any fear. His too kind eyes are anything but frightening. His soothing voice is calming and warm. And he always knows exactly what to do to make them laugh when they're upset.
The kids think he's really cool, but not in an intimidating way. They can talk to him and he will treat them like he treats everyone else without making them feel like less for being young. Spending just some time with him they already think he's the coolest adult they've ever met and want to play with him all the time.
Teenagers find him to be laid-back and more approachable than other older people they've met. He doesn't judge them and actually cares to listen. He can also relate to their struggles and provide useful advices if they ever need them. He's the type of adult they wouldn't hesitate on calling if they required any help.
Adults his age like him overall. He's a great person, but not a pushover. He's fun while still responsible without becoming overbearing. He doesn't try to seem better than anyone else and approaches everyone as his equals. And everytime someone is in need of support, he will offer a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen. He's a very good friend.
Elders see him as a very kind and respectful young man. Always making sure they're well, greeting them with a smile. He's very insightful and wise, too. Like an old soul in a young body. So, they can talk with him for hours about anything; their philosophies, experiences, life in general... And sometimes they just look at him and wonder why does it feel like he's lived more things than anyone his age should have. Not amount of pondering could give them an answer.

"Give me your Batman brain."
Bruce, who has been tracking criminals at the batcomputer for hours, stares at Dick. "What?"
Dick, only about twelve years old, is looking up at Bruce with ominous sincerity. He makes grabby hands. "Give me. Your Batman brain. Give it."
Bruce raises a brow, but figures this must be a strange thing children do. Perhaps Dick has brain damage from training, who knows. He hesitantly mimes grabbing his brain from the top of his head and putting it in Dick's hand. Dick sets the pretend-brain off to the side, placing a pretend-glass case over it for later.
Dick seems satisfied. "Okay. I threw a block of legos at my classmate Tarence. He was giving our teacher a panic attack and had to be dealt with."
Bruce raises a brow and opens his mouth to speak, but Dick cuts him off. "Wait wait wait, your Batman brain is over there. Now you only have Dad brain. Gimme Dad."
Bruce, unfortunately, cannot argue with that logic, so he pats Dick's head and asks for a step-by-step reenactment of the event so he knows how to best defend his son at the meeting with the principal.
As with many things Dick randomly invented as a child, the metaphorical exchange of brains stays in the family forever. Bruce will often catch Damian being grumpy and go, "Hey, give me your Robin brain. You've been using it for too long, it's getting overcooked." And Damian, relunctantly, will suction cup his head with his fingers and deposit his Robin brain in Bruce's hands, who will hold it very carefully while Damian, using only his 10-year-old Damian brain, grabs his largest stuffed-animal and squeezes it to self-soothe.

It is so fucking weird to me when people have a problem with heroes who won't kill. Even if the person they are fighting is the worst, they absolutely have the right to not want to kill a person ?? not because of the other person but because they, themselves, do not want to do it because... I don't know...killing another person even if they are an awful human being would feel bad, I imagine ?

I actually read fics like that, well, like two, because like you say, the center of the fic is NEVER how Dick feels, even though it should be about him. In one of them, he is GLAD that Jason killed Catalina...
Dick Grayson is glad that Jason killed Catalina.
Does anyone else notice how BAD that sentence is?
Dick, who suffered that experience, partly in the first place, because he had a PANIC ATTACK, letting Catalina kill a man in front of him, a man who was tormenting him, was eating him alive with what he was doing.
Dick isn't happy knowing Jason kills, and people genuinely think he'd be happy if Jason killed Catalina? Those fics were never about him, ever.
I would find a fanfic where Slade is the one who kills Catalina even more realistic (because to begin with, that scene where Dick comes clean to, of all people, Jason, isn't going to happen), although Dick wouldn't be happy, he'd probably go fight Slade right away if he even found out that what he went through with Catalina had anything to do with this.
(the only time I saw someone understand this was when someone showed me a damn gatcha life "react to" video where they touch on this topic and Stephanie says they can't kill her, because she couldn't bear to see Dick feeling bad and guilty about his abuser's death).
And that's crazy.
The ‘Jason Todd kills Catalina Flores’ genre of fanfiction is so morbidly hilarious to me because like. How do you miss the point that badly. Even if you haven’t read the comic, how do you see the ‘Dick blames himself for an enemy of his killing a person who majorly traumatized him so that that person won’t hurt anyone anymore’ plot and go ahh I see. He needs to have that event recreated to the letter. For Healing

If you follow my other account ya know I was obsessed w Invincible for a while, still haven’t finished reading the comics but I’m gettin there and there will be more when I keep going but anyways, I fell into the DC trash can moments later and it’s consumed me body and soul and I was hit earlier today with longing for my first and favorite cartoon ship and best alien girl
Starfire was my number one growing up and she still is when it comes to DC women, I especially loved learning about her beautiful giant locks of flaming red hair in the comics and it hurts thryve never animated it, cough but that aside I also loved DickKory to death, they’re still together in my heart I say as they throw me into a padded cell

You know what pisses me off? When fanon and canon treat Dick as if he’s somehow
less dangerous/skilled as Damian, and other assassin trained vigilantes/villains. Like
No?? Just because he wasn’t trained by assassins doesn’t mean he wasn’t trained from the age of nine by the fucking batman. After spending his childhood being trained to be a master acrobat. Dick Grayson is one of the most dangerous members of the Batfamily and is one of the most dangerous people in the world.
