I had to open the ship combat rules doc I made for Rook's campaign the other day, and man, that thing was (and still is tbh) my fucking magnum opus. I put so much effort into creating rules for a type of combat that dnd doesn't naturally support, and it was SUCH a fun challenge. I'll admit it's not perfect, but it works for our campaign, and everyone seemed to like it during our one test so far, so that's good enough for me.

I think between the stat blocks, the rules themselves, and the maps of the ships, I spent easily 48 hours total on making this sailing arc happen. (No, I'm not the DM, I just like homebrewing shit, and also happen to be the one who decided to play a pirate and make that involved in the story.)

-Vibrates- Yes YES this Dead Space au is good shit! We bein fed! Way later when all six are surviving together and split up, we get some Drunz? Dream venting about he's ready to just eradicate all Unitologists and Punz, having just been involved in this for like a few hours, already on board with it. Like 'Mhm yeah fuck those guys, let's take em out.' Lol. Dream's been dealing with this the longest he deserves a small murder spree. As a treat.

Dream absolutely deserves to go a lil ape shit, and he will def get the chance uwu (I think he would avoid killing humans tho because that’s just gonna aid the necromorph outbreaks, but there are people in Unitology uniforms that have turned necro and he will def feel a lil bit more satisfaction stomping on those >u>)

Punz definitely has some feelings about Unitology too. He’s not too involved with it but Foolish is! He’s a Unitologist but more due to the fact that his family are part of the church rather than believing in most of the teaching himself. He does like the message of unity, and an afterlife and rebirth don’t sound too bad. That is until Foolish is used by the church to help trigger the Sprawl outbreak and realize what “rebirth” actually means, and Punz doesn't take too kindly to his best friend (maybe-sort-of-kind-of-boyfriend) being used like that either.

There will definitely be some Drunz tho! All six of them will end up with bonding time but I am still planning out when and where. Some of them might have to get to know each other when they’re off the Sprawl and on the run/in hiding, and I think Drunz will be one of these pairs. I can see the two of them really growing closer talking about the Markers and eventually start plotting to track potential others down to destroy them. The perfect dates uvu

For now I know I want Karlnap to happen in this second part, due to them bonding over both being easily influenced by the Marker and maybe even sharing delusions. Idk if I would call it Kunz right away but I do want Karl and Punz to be partnered up long enough for Karl to stab one of Punz’s eyes out (he was trying to help okay, the evil alien rock is telling him things!), and that’s sure hell of a way to start a relationship.

I am also tempted to have Punznap partner up for the Tormentor scene (this is a two min clip from the second game, so do keep in mind it’s a horror/action scene with some blood and gore, and it’s a bit hectic) because it’s like my fave sequence of the game and I like to think that both them hate being out in space! So this would be a nice traumatic moment for them to bond over (including everything else that happened in those two minutes like jfc) :D It would however make more sense to have Foolish with either Dream, Sapnap, or Karl in this scene since it’s in the Unitology part of the game, so I’ll see! 

I’ll probably end up writing a proper timeline for both the Ishimura and the Sprawl parts of this au, since they pretty much just follow the in-game events with some tweaks. The third part when they’re all on the run will be for more of the actual shippy stuff and everyone working through their trauma and getting together <3

-->Namely, send the trio on a date! As in, all three of them on one date. Because, as it turns out, the lovely Lumpinou had updated the "Open Love Life" mod while I wasn't looking to allow Sims to go on multi-person dates! :D How this works is that Lumpinou made it a custom “social event,” so it’s planned like a party instead of a traditional date – Victor, having woken up flirty and suggested the idea to Alice, was the “date host,” and Alice and Smiler the “guests.” XD And the location of their date?

Center Park in the Myshuno Meadows neighborhood of San Myshuno! Which – uh – really isn’t all that great shakes, when you look at it. There’s a nice little gazebo, and a wedding area, and some nice fountains, and an observatory, and a house converted into a reception area for said weddings, but – not a lot of actual activities, you know? I tried spicing it up by adding some lot traits (Natural Light, Convivial, and Chef’s Kitchen for the kitchen on-lot) and a chess table into one of the sitting areas, but – eh. Starting to think I should have gone with my first instinct and just downloaded a replacement from the gallery.

-->However – thanks to Petey Plays It’s videos, I knew that the area AROUND the park was pretty hopping. And thus instead of staying in the sad snowy park, the gang instead headed down to the little party bar spot down the road, with its picnic tables and busking area, to pick up some snacks! Specifically, Victor and Alice both got some meat and cheese platters, and Smiler ordered a Plasma Jane to keep their thirst in check. :) I had a little trouble at first figuring out where to seat everyone to keep them all together so they could chat and fulfill date goals, but eventually I got them all lined up at the bar where they could talk, flirt, and tell jokes and stories. :) Which led to Victor and Smiler picking up a new family relationship – they’re officially Jokesters together now! Which is exactly what I wanted their relationship to be, so suits me fine!

-->Anyway -- Alice finished her meal first (thanks to werewolf "manners") -- to keep her busy while Victor and Smiler finished up, I had her go check out the nearest local monument plaque (celebrating the fishing heritage of San Myshuno and the Spangled Herring local to the area -- I didn't realize the city HAD lore. Interesting!). She then plopped down to make a snow angel as Victor and Smiler wandered over to share some party spirit and deep conversations (which Smiler decided they officially liked). Looking back on our goals for last year and setting new goals for the new year!

2023 goals:

Qualify in rally obedience open class (RO-2) at least once: we did it! Overall we got four Qs in RO-2 and one in RO-3, which means we are now eligible to compete in RO-4.

Complete the BH-VT exam with Kaija: did not do.

And as a personal goal I wanted to finish my higher education in 2023, and I did it! Finally defended my thesis and got my BSc! <3

2024 goals:

Get a qualifying score in RO-4. We have lots of work to do to get there. The signs for this class will be changed to match the new FCI signs, some of which have been quite a challenge, even just when trying them at home. Previously RO-3 and RO-4 differed only in length of the course, but now it's all new and different, which is more challenging but also more interesting imo. We're having fun chipping away at the new signs little by little already!

Work on making Kaija more comfortable and relaxed in class and trial environments. I'm currently taking a Control Unleashed course through FDSA and planning on taking Shade Whitesel's Spaces in Between in April. Currently Kaija can get overexcited, and especially any down-time or crating can be difficult for her.

Continue to go on no-contact dog socialisation walks and work on reducing Kaija's excitement/insecurity around other dogs.
