#Mmmmmmhhhh.#Well. If anything you can always tell when there's a ss/kk episode by the fact that it takes me two hours to watch it lol #What can I say. I'm a compulsive screencap taker #Mmmmmmhhh... I was right it wasn't as bad as I remembered it. Still moderately bad but not all bad.#It's just. I can feel the animators did their best.#I suppose it's just a difficult episode to animate within a short time frame since it's a specifically action packed one.#And the lack of time really shows. Like there *are* some detailed animated passages here and there. But then there's also these long static #shots that stretch on forever that are just... Idk. A little saddening to see I guess? Like the animators really ran out of time for them #There's also a big component of... I just can't vibe with the newfound artstyle. Like it looks soooo much worse than s1 in my opinion #Which you know‚ is only subjective! But eh... The distance between s2ep11 and this feels abyssal.#Everyone looks so ugly oftentimes. Like even in curated shots‚ they're just very rough and ungraceful.#Which like?? How could you look at Harukawa's art and come up with //that//??????? But it's whatever #And the pacing is so so off 😭😭😭 God please to death with 11 episodes long seasons give us filler episodes back. I don't think it was necessary to make Thor a main character in a Loki show, the same way it WOULD be possible to throw together a Thor movie without having Loki be a main focus.

The issue comes in the quality of the narrative itself, and writing that if evidently without intention to care for (whichever) main character's importance will not work out. Neither the Loki series nor Thor 4 cared about the arc, motivations, history, or continuity of the titular characters beyond trying to make the media marketable.

Overall messaging can add a layer to the impact a story will have. Musical score can be a bonus way to control tone or tie a story together. Supporting cast can be vital to tell a good story. Prioritising their presence over anyone's (especially Loki's) characterisation is what the Loki series suffered from, not that other, original-adjacent characters were there.

#i'd say it was tell not show but frankly the plotline was so poorly done i don't think showing would have helped #it would have solidified the side characters better though #if they had put effort into characterising Loki right then poorly done side characters could've been a non-issue #messing up the main characters which are supposed to be part of a continuity is the number 1 issue #not managing the screen-time well was the number 2 issue #too much time wasted setting up characters that were going to monologue about their importance anyway??#too much time spent trying to establish the TVA as something important and controlling but somehow good #so much could have been cut out of the show and still gotten all that across #the relationships people built did so in like 2 days in-universe iirc so i wouldn't call them solid #season 1 was a useless introductory setup for the multiverse that didn't have any impact because there were like 4 other setups #scrap the characterisation and call it a reboot and it still threw Loki out as a weak and completely conventional protagonist #that's not engaging when every other character is also boring overall #even if their concepts weren't boring the way it was done was #The Loki Show #i can't be bothered thinking about the show because there's just so much #where would one start #i don't care enough about it to hate the show but i did find the fight choreography lacking too #the camera angles and general videography wasn't good #i have the same complaints about the choreography with every other disney+ show they put out #not even bothered with the MCU frankly #i'm happy to pretend the movies stopped after phase 2

that one time steve and danny took a sidebar at a crime scene for some eye-sex and emotional bonding

nbd, just eye-humping each other next to a bunch of barrels filled with corpses, it being a dumping ground for yakuza and all, like normal people.

danny asks steve how things are going with his mother but that doesn't stop him from checking him out in the process, multitasking is a skill.

he's particularly good at doing it when steve is distracted ↓

↑in case we forget, mcgarrett doesn't have monopoly on heart eyes.

only steve and danny can have unparalleled levels of romantic tension while standing at a crime scene filled with dead bodies and discussing the antics of steve's wayward spy mother.

steve tells danny about doris breaking into the fbi database, but danny astutely asks him if steve is more upset about that or the fact that she is in trouble, because he knows his man and his big heart.

steve is definitely conflicted because he knows he should be less forgiving of doris but he can't help it, his need to fix things.

'look, look, it's none of my business, alright? but whatever she did, so what? she's your mother, she's in trouble and you gotta help her, right?'

doesn't matter what he personally thinks about doris, danny knows steve, so he gives him approval to do what he wanted to do, aka help his mother, no matter what she has done. sure he could have preserved his dignity or whatever but danny knows if steve doesn't help her and something bad happens he will never forgive himself, so he takes pressure off of steve/absolves him of his doubt.

danny essentially plays a function of a sin-eater for steve in this instance which prompts him to give danny one of the most intense and longest looks ever, because he cannot adequately put everything he's feeling into words.

steve: danny is too good for this world and precious and boy do I love him so much but I can never tell him so I'm just gonna bore holes in the fabric of time with my gaze. who cares about the barrels with corpses anyway?

holiday season sucks

#im chill about it and that's the part that kinda breaks my heart #being home these days feels like a freakshow #sucks worse this time because i actually was so excited to come home this year #and it really hit me like wow. this is just not the place for me #there's just no scenario where i feel good about it. even though i'm chill??#i guess what i mean is like. i'm not tearing myself up over any of it #i could be a lot more sad angry upset etc about it if i wanted but i just don't really mind #and there's a part of me that wishes that i cared more because i deserve to feel safe and welcome with my own family #but instead i just still here like :/ well. i guess this is just how it is.#and i'll spend the rest of my life coming home and feeling like the court jester #and i dont rlly miss it at all.#but its like i have this weird sense of duty. that i should be the best son i can be because i wasn't the daughter they wanted #and i just think of all the things i want to do that i know i'll never do because i have this thought in my mind of *maybe*#if im good enough for long enough then they'll get used to it. but i cant do anything else #i wasted all my rebellion on transitioning and anything further would be over the line #i should be proud of the person that i am and to almost everyone else i am proud #but to them i just feel like. well this is me i guess your disgusting cringefail daughter with mental illness #tryiing to make up for existing. whatever #and thats what the holiday season has become. which sucks.

#j. talks #went to visit my brother in his uni city and also connected it with an event there #I know this event because I went there once with a uni course that of course was with my fave former prof #so I know she's usually there but it's a bigger city and Friday and there are a lot of things at different locations #chances are not zero but I thought come on if anything it will be casual running into her #well as I was waiting with my brother and a whole crowd of people to be let in who do I hea #and see :))) yeah it's my fave prof. and I told my brother and he told me to go and say hi but there were so many people already talking to #her and also going there and saying hi so I simply couldn't. I literally froze our shoulders were nearly touching but she wasn't even facin #me and taking and I just followed my brother and he was like???#what was that?? and I didn't know. and he asked my why I looked so shameful out of all the emotions I chose shame #and I don't know. I don't know why shame I consuming me no matter where I go. but she was busy and imagine I go up and she has no idea who #am anymore. they had to burry me right there and then. so that was that :) now #the name of that street of the location burned into my memory as I was facing the wall well it's the name of [redacted] who I never really #get over and it's been 10 years now soon. and we had a similar experience in December :) where I would have loved nothing more really than #to talk (in Decembar definitely also other things that I miss on some days very much) but I barely got a wave #so yeah :) I actually had a great day but I am more than overwhelmed. If this was fanfic I'd gobble it the fuck up but these people are writing official Tolkien stuff. Half-assed bluster poetics ain't really gonna cut it for me even though I'm not a Tolkien purist.

#never for a moment have i been a hater but #they try even if clumsily build up sympathy for the orcs through Glúg and through their loyalty to Adar #only for them to turn coat OFF SCREEN?#like yeah orcs will orc I'm not mad about them betraying him but HOW they betrayed him #like you give us a really cool concept of Nenya healing Adar's very soul the moment before you kill him off?#why tf was Adar in the forest anyway why not enter Eregion to execute Sauron on the spot?#he HAD to lose at one point I ain't delulu but this death wasn't poetic to me it was just a waste #like I see the semblance of logic in everything the writers do but it all falls so flat #like Adar had this big powerful moment at the end of ep 7 only for him to be Julius Caesar-d by GLÚG of all people?#there were signs but honestly #Glúg choosing fucking Sauron because he was mad at Adar trying to protect HIM and all the Uruks like #what was the point of Glúg then it's like they couldn't make up their fucking minds about whether orcs can be capable of redemption or not #and don't get me started on the Balrog getting like 30 seconds after they've been teasing it all season and even the season 1 #or that Isidul the most crucial CANON character to the story didn't do shit all season aside from homewrecking lol #also Arondir is fine??? Apparently??? Like completely fine???#and the whole Rhún sequence was just filler in the end too #bruh #i've never been a hater before to anything and yeah there IS bias on my part regarding Adar but #irrelevant things are given depth and actually interesting narratives are left shallow and just crumble under all the flawed logic #mist mumbles #mist rants and raves

If I only have Severance to look forward to next season...

#I know I watch a gazillion crime shows but somehow almost all of them let me down this season #and it wasn't because most of them had like ten episodes it was how wasteful those ten episodes were #and somehow amidst the chaos hudson and rex was exempt from this (it didn't have a shortened season anyway)#because while it had a less than desirable start it got to its usual unsteady footing after a couple episodes or so #and honestly had more action than some shows with 10x of its budget which is frankly embarrassing #annoyingly enough I care more about whether it will be renewed than I care about any of the other crimes shows (which have all been renewed #(some rather unfortunately)#anyway give me severance #save me from boredom

t100 is one of those shows that should have only had 3 seasons...but like in an alternate universe where s3 was good and lincoln didn't die you know...

#its 2023 and im still thinking about the wasted potential #that positive growth we saw in the blakes relationship in s2 continuing #lincoln having an actual storyline (and SURVIVING)#lexa faking her death and running off to be with costia (who wasn't killed)#no pike and no alie and instead the main villian is just the ice nation #and in the finale bellamy raven and t100 find refuge with luna #(raven and luna are immediately smitten with one another)#bellarke also happens mid season (very important because i would have needed at least half of season of them actually together yk)#t100
