Wei Wuxian should be able to get drunk for once. I think he'd either be singing bawdy drinking songs on the roof of the Jingshi or he'd be getting irrevocably lost no matter where he is. He's found in the bushes behind the mountains like a cryptid, and then he's like "I can't believe you all got lost" (extremely slurred) as if he didn't get embarrassed by something Lan Wangji had said and just somehow disappeared when everyone looked back at him

anyway heres wonderwall The Gang (Wangxian & their fave group of ducklings) in a city known for its STRONG wine and wuxian being like well. ur all grown now, youre technically not juniors anymore. we have to see whos lasting the longest against this stuff!, smash cut to a suspiciously wei ying-less group of the worlds drunkest cultivators being wrangled through the woods by designated driver hanguang-jun, with at least 2 of them clinging to his robes at all times.

ever since I read that one analysis of Heathcliff digging up and lying with Cathy's body and what exactly it meant back in like seventh grade I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since.

Here's a little bit of an insight on how the couples got lowkey speedran on the au:

Bingqiu: After talking when they met again, Sqq was deluding himself saying that Binghe was just that filial of a disciple, that had always been the plan after all! And then Binghe started to out right court him, first he thought it might have been a joke, but even he could not ignore all the demon traditions that he knew of, and all the gifts, the flowers, the food- (Sqh's influence sadly didn't get overpowered by Wei Wuxian and Hua Cheng, they're helping out but it's not like they're good examples either)

Then Binghe outright asked him for permission to court him! (Advice given by Wei Wuxian of all people, the goddamn irony) And he well... He acepted, what else can he do when he bended the protagonist? He might as well take responsability. If Binghe's courting actually made him a little bit happy and he didn't mind marrying him either, nor did he care anymore about the rest of the world, well, that's just the protagonist charm on full blast! He is but only human, how could he not love Binghe? How could he not rather stay with him in the Demon realm than go back to being someone else?

(Unbesknown to Sqq, Wei Wuxian and Hua Cheng were coaching/wingmaning Luo Binghe trhu all the process)

Wangxian: Wei Wuxian thought of going himself to talk to Lan zhan, might as well convince him to please stop, then he recognized the child by his side- So, they spoke, well, Wei Ying asked questions, Lan zhan answered them "Why did you want to find me...?" "Worried" "About me? Ah, You thought i was for sure gonna become an evil spirit? Have some faith in me Lan Zhan!" He shaked his head "No? Then... Was it about A-yuan?" "For Wei Ying" "For me? You're taking care of him for me?" "Mn" Ehh, Lan Zhan is really nice!But, why would it be for me?, did you think i was raising him to a dark path?" Lan zhan shaked his head again "Huh, i thought you hated my methods! Didn't hate me for it?" "Never hated Wei Ying" "You... You didn't...?" "Never did" Then why did you... Did you want to help me back then? That's why you are taking care of A-yuan?" "Mn" "Is... How is my...?" "Jin Roulan is growing well"

After that, they started to spent time together, mostly on account of Wei Wuxian missing his "friend" and of taking care of A-yuan, Binghe and Hua Cheng were quick to point out that Wei Wuxian had a huge crush on Lan Wangji, something he... Took his time to accept, but even if acepted, there was nothing to do about it, why would Lan Zhan ever like him back? He's worth nothing, hell, he's a ghost! The Yilling patriarch, scorn of the cultivation world, and of the heavens as of late! Surely Lan zhan would rather marry a nice young lady?

Then Sqq asked them to look into some stuff for him from time to time, and things went kind of like in canon, with them sharing time, and going around together and i already explained all of Sqq's attempts in another post, but Wangxian's confession stays the same, just that the one making the intervention here (and without being in a life or death situation) is Sqq instead of Xichen-

Hualian: Their meeting is very similar to canon (already said how they got to that), on his way around the new town, Xie Lian met a young man dressed in red, who didn't have anything to do apparently, and decided to accompany him for a while, then a few days in, Banyue happens. Yes, without beefleaf (My wind Master damn it) and without Xie Lian knowing about the whole heavenly part, ignoring that Pei Junior is an official, UNTIL, who would've guessed, helping out all of those souls and the merchants that were going to get killed, gets Xie Lian to ascend again! (And be at odds with Pei Ming once again) He only gets to briefly tell San Lang to wait for him back in town, that he'll come back soon-

Mount Yu Jun happens pretty much the same, save for the fact that Xie Lian recognizes Hua Cheng the moment he appears (someone couldn't wait), and that he helps out more with the mission, and is there to make fun of the two idiots with the worst disguises ever- After that, they go back, Wei Wuxian was waiting for them and makes fun of Hua Cheng for a bit, before they formally meet and get Xie Lian to visit Ghost city a few days later for Hua Cheng's birthday party, where, who would've guess, everyone is trying to play matchmaker for them-

On one hand, is done with very good intentions, and if Xie Lian noticed he didn't say because he seemed to be having a good time despite of it, but on the other, can't they let Hua Cheng handle this on his own? He's been preparing himself for this for centuries!

They let him handdle it on his own for a bit. The joke proposal happens and Sqq and Wwx hit him in the head with the fan and the flute (deserved, he made Dianxia unhappy), they don't directly tell Xie Lian he's Hua Cheng's beloved, but they're hinting at it so hard it might as well be a huge sign on his head. Then the 3000 lanterns happen, and well, this time they've known each other for longer and it works like the 10000 gods cave in canon, hitting Xie Lian just enough for him to accept it

(Thanks too, to the other 4 hinting constantly at it, Xie Lian is not an idiot after all, he just needed a strong comfirmation from Hua Cheng himself)

In case yall wonder, yes, all of them eloped for different reasons, Bingqiu because they got the idea while travelling, Wangxian because that's them escaping the fuss and Hualian because it would've been quite the scandal and they didn't want to deal with it (They all, also, had a proper ceremony later, when everyone else pestered them into it, very hipocritically)

"Wangxian are not problematic!"

Idk.. Dreaming of forcing yourself on your significant other to punish them and forcing a kiss on them without their consent, along with being possessive and obsessive over them is lowkey kinda problematic in my eyes. Js :/

I won't tag the main couple here because I don't want everyone jumping down my throat for this. This post is just a response to a post I saw a JC anti make on here, claiming that we only call Wangxian morally grey to big up Jiang Cheng when that is just not true lmao.

All three characters have done messed up things. Like the questionable incense burner dream, the non con kiss scene are just the tip of the iceburg for these two.

Like Jiang Cheng, they too are flawed characters, and whilst they may have done things with justice in mind, it doesn't mean we should aspire to be them morally.

Wei Wuxian still raised the dead, descreated corpses, and committed war crimes as the YLLZ to seek jusitce. And Lan Wangji still forced a kiss on Wei Wuxian without his consent and dreamt of sexually assaulting him. No amount of mental gymnastics can change how flawed they are.

So yes. Wangxian are nuanced just like JC.

How many works on AO3?

THIRTY SIX.... wow. it adds up. in my head it's like. ten. there are also a couple fics floating out there on a different secret pseud.

2. Total word count on AO3?

167,219. again, wow... it adds up.... this number is kind of low considering that i have THIRTY SIX fics (<5k each), but i could have written a novel or two in the past five years. but i didn't want to. so i didn't.

3. Top five fics by kudos?

shen yuan and original luo binghe’s epic adventure in the modern world - 3541 kudos

sweet as honey - 3398 kudos

well i suppose that tracks. it's kind of funny to me that all my top fics by kudos were in the year i started writing. did i peak with beginner's luck. but realistically these all benefited from being written relatively early on in the fandom. actually i had been convinced that scum villain fandom had PEAKED in 2019 and no one was going to read my shit. oh how the tables turn. now I'M the hag.

4. What fandoms do you primarily write for?

scum villain! and a couple other random fics for mxtx. but THIRTY ONE out of thirty six. are scum villain. again also there's my disowned lovechild fics that aren't mxtx out there somewhere.

anyway it's funny originally i thought i would just write a couple of sv fics and then move on to like. naruto. or fe3h. or whatever else i was thinking about in 2020. but now the characters are like old friends to me and it's very easy to imagine them in situations. i should really push myself out of my comfort zone. well i'm doing that for my fandom trumps hate gift. so!

5. Do you respond to comments?

i used to! they used to be my only outlet for talking about fandom. now i have fan friends and it's not all repressed. but the main thing is that a lot of my popular fics were written five years ago, so i don't have much to say in response other than. THANK YOU I LOVE YOU MWAH. i respond a bit more right after i post a fic when all my thoughts on it are fresh.

6. Angstiest ending?

the ones that are canon compliant. isn't that funny? every road leads to an end is i miss shen jiu whump lowkey, as told through ning yingying's eyes. the qing jing ghostbusters and the ten great mysteries of cang qiong mountain sect is i miss binghe whump. and the good, the bad, and the terror of the unjust is also "goodbye shen jiu" whump. well this one was supposed to be a comedy but i couldn't figure out how to make shen jiu stop abusing binghe so i just made it canon compliant.

7. Fic with the happiest ending?

my post canon fics! white amaranth, purple eggplant is about being depressed and getting a happy ending anyway. and forever hold your peace is about getting MARRIEDDDDDDD. so i'm very dedicated to sappy bingqius.

nope! everybody loves me. for now.

9. Do you write smut?

yes! i love physical comedy and what is sex, if not the ultimate act of physical comedy.

i don't.... think i have one.... i love all my ugly children. bingqiu by numbers, but they still only make up 19% of my oeuvre.

get home safe, my wangxian modern au set in the bay area. my wangxian juices aren't activated, and also i wrote that while missing home. then i moved home for a while and all the hazy romantic nostalgia evaporated. i feel like between what IS written and grandmaster ranked in demonic cultivation, i've gotten a lot of the "let's put the mdzs guys in san jose" juice out of me.

16. Writing strengths?

i think i'm funny. i like my dialogue. i like my fast pacing and comedic timing i have. i joke a lot that my fic at its strongest is really just stand up comedy.

17. Writing weaknesses?

everything else :) no seriously, i have a hard time slowing down a scene, building a setting, or even describing anything.

18. Thoughts on mixed language dialogue?

at first i used to translate everything - e.g. Shizun -> "Teacher" but for the past several years, i just do fandom house style where titles are untranslated. especially for modern aus, the bits that you would say untranslated even in an english sentence, those stay.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

scum villain! well i do also have a fe3h fic i was writing about the same time as my earliest scum villains. it was a post black eagles fic, where petra returns to brigid and becomes involved in masses of political intrigue and an arranged marriage. it was going to be a long fic, so naturally i ran out of steam and full pivoted to yaoi instead.

20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

atttt the moment. maybe because of recency bias. or because i've been thinking about it for literally five years, the entire time i've been writing fic. possession. she's my baby. this fic anticipated me going to grad school, and is so much fun to think about and theorycraft with friends about.

I just recently created a secondary blog to do my other fandom reblogs and posts that WILL still sometimes get cross-posted here (my kaladin playlist being one of them just yesterday) but I did that to organize my posts over there too and yet still have a masterlist subsection for them here too. I don't do that for BTS though. Anything BTS related I feel like talking about or reblogging WILL be done here. I could just spent the next hour gushing about all the sweet taekookness that dropped recently for us. And that's fully up to me and no one else

First ship: I don't know if this is asking about first ever ship or your favorite (Probably the former). My first ever ship in a fandom was Rinharu from Free! (I shipped lawlight without watching the anime until like 2 years ago) my favorite ship rn is YHK

Relationship status: I'm gay aro ace and poly with 3 partners. Which is very hard to explain to people because I'm queerplatonic with all my partners and my labels probably contradict each other. Do I care? No, I don't. But they're all very nice and we all lowkey act the same so *shrugs* :3

Last Movie: I think it was Death note: light up the NEW world. I didn't finish it but it was for research purposes I swear, or else I would have watched something else 😭

this was in my WIP but it’s basically a snippet of the same universe as this short (which is basically some thoughts about an ArrangedMarriage!AU)

The first thing Wangji notices when he enters the Jiangshi is that the room is cold.

The second thing is that Wei Wuxian is laid in his cot again – the thin, useless thing his uncle had insisted Wei Wuxian sleep on when they first married.

Wei Wuxian turns when he hears Wangji enter. His thin face lighting up with a smile. “Hanguang-jun, you’re back!” he says brightly. He moves to get up and Wangji can see the way his thin arms shake.

The pain in his chest is familiar by now, but it hurts nonetheless.

“No need to stand,” Wangji says, quickly walking over towards the cot.

Wei Wuxian is already sitting up, the thin blanket falling down from his shoulders. He smiles ruefully at Wangji. “Grandmaster Lan will berate me for not giving you a proper welcome,” he says, “but if Hanguang-jun is okay with it, I will welcome you back home from here.”

“You can welcome me back as you please,” Wangji says, kneeling down in front of Wei Wuxian. “I will not let uncle berate you.” He reaches to take a hand into his.

It’s cold.

There’s a slight trembling running through Wei Wuxian’s thin fingers. His skin, red where it’s spread paper thin across his knuckles, is cold to the touch.

“The Jiangshi is cold,” Wangji says, bringing the knuckles to his lips.

“It’s my fault, I’m sorry,” Wei Wuxian apologizes, shyly taking back his hand. This action would have been devastating to Wangji a few weeks ago. He would have taken it as a rejection. A sign that his advances were unwanted.

Now…

Well, Wangji knows better now. He knows the fault lies with him and the thousands of things he let be misunderstood.

Wangji takes Wei Wuxian’s hand in his again and rises to sit next to him. Pressing against him so that there is no space left between them. He brings Wei Wuxian’s hand into his lap and holds it. “Don’t apologize,” he says gently, “How could this be your fault? Did the disciples not come by this morning?”

Wei Wuxian stares down at where their hands are joined. The red flush on his cheeks now all the way up to his ears.

“It… it’s wasteful to heat up the entire Jiangshi just for me,” Wei Wuxian says. He turns his head up to look at Wangji, and gives him another bright smile. “Besides, the cold doesn’t bother me much. I’m sure you can call–“

Wangji bumps his head gently against Wei Wuxian’s forehead.

“Who told you it was wasteful?” he asks, his eyes closed in an attempt to control his anger. His anger isn’t meant for Wei Wuxian. He has to be careful not to let it show.

Wei Wuxian is quiet.

Wangji won’t force an answer out of him. He already has a hunch of who might’ve planted this poisonous thought inside of Wei Wuxian anyway.

He holds back a sigh and rises to stand, Wei Wuxian’s hand still firmly in his. “Come,” he says, “Let’s get you to our bed. Why is this cot back in our room? I thought I had gotten rid of it.”

Wei Wuxian gently pulls his hand away from Wangji’s grasp.

“I had it brought back in,” Wei Wuxian says, his eyes on the ground. He’s a poor liar, Wangji’s learned, and he feels a fool for realizing that so late. “What Grandmaster Lan said is correct. I did spend a lot of time in the Burial Mounds and I use demonic cultivation… it could negatively affect you, Wangji. I mean… I don’t think it will, but just to be safe, I think it’s better we use separate—“

Wangji slides his arm under Wei Wuxian’s legs and across his back and lifts Wei Wuxian off his cot.

“Hanguang-jun!” Wei Wuxian exclaims, “What are you doing!?”

“You’re my husband,” Wangji says, “I will not have you sleeping on a cot.”

He sits Wei Wuxian gently against the headboard and brings up the blanket to tuck it around Wei Wuxian’s waist. He walks to the closet to bring out his fur-lined robe and he drapes it across Wei Wuxian’s shoulders.

All the while, Wei Wuxian blinks up at him, as if he doesn’t quite recognize Wangji.

“But…” Wei Wuxian says, “But your uncle…”

It’s a sharp stab of guilt in his gut, the reminder that up until recently, Wangji had blindly followed his uncle’s orders. Believing his uncle’s guidance to be the best course of action for both him and Wei Wuxian.

Never in a million years had he imagined that his uncle could be so… wrong. But Wangji’s limited imagination almost cost him his husband – Wangji wouldn’t make that mistake again.

“My uncle is… wrong,” Wangji says, and the words feel foreign in his mouth. But he has to say them. He must. Wei Wuxian cannot be allowed to believe that Wangji shares his uncle’s opinions – not about his marriage, not about his circumstances, not about Wei Wuxian. He sits next to Wei Wuxian and takes his thin, trembling hand again. “From now on, you must remember this – you are my husband. You are someone I wished to marry.”

“—Yes, I know,” Wei Wuxian interrupts, “You married me because you wished to save the Wens, because you knew what was happening to them was unjust—“

“—No,” Wangji says sharply. “I married you because I wanted to.”

Silence falls between them.

“You are Hanguang-jun,” Wei Wuxian says after a long while, his voice so soft that it only just presses up against the silence.

Wangji hates this.

Hates this quiet, fragile thing Wei Wuxian has become.

And it’s his fault.

It’s all is fault.

And the knowledge that Wei Wuxian willingly let himself be broken down because he thought this was what Wangji wanted burns a hole in Wangji’s chest.

He pulls Wei Wuxian’s fingers to his lips. Presses a soft kiss against his knuckles.

“Husband,” he murmurs against pale fingers. He looks at Wei Wuxian expectantly.

Wei Wuxian keeps his gaze for a moment before tilting his head in question. “…Yes?” he asks.

“Husband,” Wangji says again. “Before I am Hanguang-jun, I am your husband, just as you are mine.”

Wei Wuxian drops his gaze to his lap, where his free hand is anxiously picking at the skin around his nails. They’re chapped and close to bleeding. “But I am the Yiling Patriarch,” Wei Wuxian says softly, his steady voice a stark contrast to his nervous fingers. “Being married to me only brings you pain and dishonor.”

If Wangji could, he would cut his heart out. He would cut his heart out and show Wei Wuxian exactly how much Wangji’s heart bled for him and only him. Show him how the inside of his chest has grown cavernous since meeting Wei Wuxian, constantly growing and rearranging itself to make room to house all the love Wangji has accumulated for this man.

There’s nothing he couldn’t do, if only Wei Wuxian would believe him.

He grabs Wei Wuxian’s free hand in his and pulls so that Wei Wuxian falls forward just a bit – just close enough so that Wangji can press a kiss against his brow.

“I am your husband, just as you are mine,” Wangji repeats softly. There are a million other things he wants to say, but anything he could say in that moment would only bring him to tears or potentially hurt Wei Wuxian, and he wants to do neither.

He presses another kiss against the side of Wei Wuxian’s face before he rises off the bed.

Wei Wuxian stares up at him a little dazedly, a bewildered expression on his face. It was an expression Wangji had seen often as of late. Like Wei Wuxian almost didn’t recognize the man standing in front of him. Like he might be a stranger.

And Wangji understands, even if the expression makes him feel a little embarrassed.

He knows that his attitude and actions towards his husband have changed dramatically in the past couple of weeks. And he’d be lying if he said that this newfound… forwardness of his came naturally to him. But he couldn’t stand one more day of Wei Wuxian believing that Wangji just… endured him. He couldn’t stand one more moment of Wei Wuxian thinking that Wangji didn’t want to be married to him. That Wangji didn’t… love him.

He turns in abrupt embarrassment, suddenly feeling shy about how much he feels for Wei Wuxian. He goes over to the door to pick up the basket he had brought with him.

It steadies him, the basket, and the knowledge of how much love this basket contains. How could he feel shy about his feelings when they couldn’t even compare to simple bowl of soup?

“What is this?” Wei Wuxian asks when Wangji brings the basket over to the bed.

Wangji doesn’t answer. He just places a small tray on Wei Wuxian’s lap.

“Oh, do you have a task for me?” Wei Wuxian asks, “A letter to write? A talisman to make? Let me get off the bed—“

Wangji gently presses down on the tray on Wei Wuxian’s lap to stop him. He taps once on the tray as a sign for Wei Wuxian to stay still, and miraculously, Wei Wuxian nods back in understanding.

It’s almost unfair how easily they understand each other in the little ways, but it gives Wangji faith that someday they’ll also be able to understand each other in the big ways.

The soup is still hot when Wangji opens the lid, curls of steam flying upward into the Jingshi. The aroma falls not far behind. The heavy, savory, warm smell of rich broth and tender meat.

In the moment, he finds he can’t seem to muster up the bravery to look at Wei Wuxian’s face.

He carefully ladles the soup into a bowl, making sure to get plenty of meat and vegetables. Under the guise of carefully placing the soup on the tray, he keeps his gaze down, away from Wei Wuxian’s face.

He’s not quite sure what he’s afraid of.

But this is how it always is with Wei Wuxian. He makes Wangji feel big and small in unimaginable ways. Makes a coward out of him with just a glance and in turns gives him enough strength to stand up to even his own uncle.

Wangji puts the lid back on the soup bowl and stands.

“Eat,” he says, “I’ll go start the fire.”

He turns to leave but the faintest tug at his sleeve stops him in his tracks.

“…Husband,” Wei Wuxian says, his voice small, “Would it be okay if we ate… together?”

Wangji clenches his fists so tightly that they tremble. His eyes burn with unshed tears and his throat aches.

In turns he hates himself – because how quickly could he forget that his husband hates to eat alone? – and in the same moment he’s overcome with gratitude towards his husband.

His husband.

His brave, Wei Wuxian.

So much better and braver than Wangji.

He feels Wei Wuxian’s fingers slip down off his sleeve, obviously taking Wangji’s silence for refusal. Wangji grabs them, before they fall too far and holds them tight.

“Of course,” he says.

He quickly ladles himself a bowl and sits down on the bed, finally – finally – mustering up the courage to gaze upon Wei Wuxian’s face.

What he finds there makes him wonder what he was so frightened of.

Wei Wuxian’s cheeks are tinged with pink. His eyes are bright and happy and there’s a genuine, if not a bit embarrassed, smile on his face that makes Wangji’s chest feel tight.

They begin to eat in silence, and it is Wangji who breaks it first.

“I learned how to make this soup today,” he says stiltedly. “Whenever you want it, tell me. If there are other things you like, tell me as well… I… would like to learn.”

Wei Wuxian is quiet for a long moment, and in every silent second, Wangji feels the pulling tide of embarrassment.

Just as he’s about to be pulled under, Wei Wuxian grabs his hand.

“Thank you,” Wei Wuxian breathes, smiling a smile so big that it threatens to split his face in two. “Lan Zhan, you are my greatest blessing. Thank you.”

The Jingshi is cold.

Wei Wuxian is thin.

Wangji is inadequate.

But in that moment, Wangji burns as hot as the summer sun.
