Thor can't differentiate good advice from bad and is emotionally volatile and reckless and that's Loki's fault?#THOR was the one who got them past Heimdall too #the entire ordeal inadvertently showed off the favouritism Thor was receiving in comparison to Loki #even though Loki was the one supposedly so easily influencing Thor to such an extent #call Thor a puppet the way he--wait. no. that sounds weird. uhhhhh #you get the point #people will claim Loki was all up in there rearranging Thor's mental processes to cause his downfall #when really it was Loki doing the bare minimum instigation and watching things only devolve from there #because Thor WAS reckless and immature ?? and he WAS quick to anger and enjoyed exerting his power with violence ??#Loki didn't STEAL THE THRONE FROM THOR he literally just is implied to undermine the coronation #that's not even confirmed but we assume it's true that he let the frost giants in near the casket etc.#Loki has his own actual crimes that he did against Thor and hugging his bro's arm and saying 'you're soooooo strong and correct' was not on #even if you manage to argue Loki was cheering Thor on for the invasion (he wasn't) it was clearly to dob Thor in with Odin #which he did when he had some guard inform Odin #that Odin's chosen punishment was for Thor's disobedience aside stop blaming Loki for the damage ODIN inflicted on him #focus on Loki making up lies to Thor about how Odin died instead like at least Loki DID SOMETHING for that #you can even ascribe as evil a motive as you want there bc Loki was slipping fr #twirling his hair and telling Thor he's smarter about the realm's safety than the king was on the normal scale #you want to talk morals go look at how eager Thor was to invade mass destroy and massacre in the other realm #and expected Odin to 'finish them off! together!' bc he was power high on whatever bloodlust pheromones battle apparently imitates for him #sigh. this is why you can't have nice things Thor. no Loki you're barely any better. sit down. have a cookie.

i ask these questions, and yet i know that there are still many people who believe that the violence against the slavers wasn’t justified, or believe that it was simply “too much” or “not fair.” truly… what an insane hill to die on.

Ngl, I’m actually pretty uncomfortable reading my old posts defending the goodness of the common people and their right to defend themselves—as persecuted groups or as individuals—from hierarchical tyranny, given how easily in this current irl moment a not-insignificant amount of people have fallen into supporting an active genocide, because I cannot separate this from how much pushback I got (and still sometimes get) for being consistent in my politics

#I don’t want to say it’s triggering #because that’s not the right word #but what do you call the thing you feel #when you spent the last 1+ year arguing that common people are usually good #and hierarchies of oppression are bad even if certain individuals you like are at the top #that violence is not all inherently bad #and violence against oppression is in fact good #all topics that are major themes affirmed in the literal texts being discussed #only to have people YELLING at me that i am wrong #because THEY believe that the only thing that makes you a good person #is joining the corrupt hierarchy and affirming status quo #only for me to turn on the news and see this same logic of disaggreers #being used to justify an active genocide #maybe it’s cognitive dissonance #because my understanding of fiction is always couched within the reality it was created in #but the fact that the same arguments can be used to justify crimes against humanity #in both fiction AND reality?#it makes the act of fandom discourse less… enjoyable #less innocuous

Fear not, even while they removed the flags from the settings which permitted to disable it in previous waves, and really want you to use their new UI, and really do act like a bully who just doesn't accept the word 'no'— there's still a way to disable it :)

Basically you right click the icon of the chrome wherever you usually use it, this guide will be for taskbar, under the cut other locations if you need :)

1.CLOSE ALL CHROME WINDOWS!! 2.Right click the chrome icon on the taskbar:

2.right click the chrome line again and click "properties"

3.inside the tab "shortcut" on the target/destination line, you must add the disabling of the new update in the following manner:

You will see this written: "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" you will need to add, with a space, this: --disable-features=CustomizeChromeSidePanel It'll end up like this: "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --disable-features=CustomizeChromeSidePanel 4.Apply and it's fixed, cheers :)

as a criminology student, i would honestly love to read an comics arc about the role of the police in vigilantism because i just think it's under-discussed for such a nuanced and complex topic.

#marvel comics #dc comics #honestly i just may not have read it yet #i'm pretty new still to comics and am only just working my way through some of the really important runs and events #not trying to defend the police here btw just like #i find it so interesting that although the point of vigilantism is to go AGAINST the police system #so many heroes still work closely with the police and trust somewhat in the way they're doing things #maybe it's more of an ongoing point of conversation that can't be explored in just a 'run' or smth #but i don't think it's really talked about enough nowadays #it's why i'm really excited for the upcoming 'absolute power' stuff from dc even though everyone seems to dislike waller #like it's a government entity getting involved in superheroism and inherently blurring the lines between what's good and what's bad #and talking about HOW to deal with crime and whether or not the superhero way is the right way or not #i like that it's bringing up these important topics #hot take but i definitely think if they brought back a character in the mythos that worked within the system #they could have an even better conversation about all of this #i def need to like take a look through the '90s/'00s nightwing runs again #but i think officer dick grayson was a good idea with just horrible execution #it was very much like 'you CAN fix corruption if you just get the right individuals in there'#which i definitely do not think is true #but the idea of having someone who has seen the system from the outside being put into the fold #and realizing that there's so much about the system that we DO NOT KNOW ABOUT #and dealing with the moral dilemmas of being in an occupation filled with oxymorons #and trying to figure out if they can handle this type of life #i think it would be at the very least good for character development #anyways #that's my rant #q speaks

having some Thoughts N Feelings abt elrond & elros + the historical practice of rulers taking children from the families of their tributaries or even their (nominal) allies as hostages

primarily that (1) the Politics of the Fëanorions having the heirs of Fingolfin AND Thingol AND All Three of the Three Houses as their hostages is like… soooo overlooked and underutilized in the fanworks I’ve seen

and (2) i think it would be rlly funny and also fucked-up if most elves are Totally Scandalized And Horrified by this Weird Human Behavior of “hostage-taking” if/when they see it happening in the second & third ages as human settlements & societies in M-E grow & develop, while Elrond is just like, “this is Normal, what are you Talking about”

#mine #silm #like the story can’t Not be informed by that practice/history to some degree but it’s also a weird fucked-up edge case bc like #at the point when m&m have e&e it’s like. the Entirety of their close family is either dead or absent or absent and Presumably dead #so e&e are functioning less as incentive for their immediate family to act a certain way & more as an all-purpose deterrent #to aggression or retaliation against the fëanorians by any remaining sindarin or noldorin forces who take issue with all the Crimes.#anyways it’s Vital to me that elrond (and elros too) be a Little Bit Feral and have just the Slightest weirdness about him #in terms of his expectations for How Stuff Works—bc there’s no way he’s getting out of his Canonical Early Life w/out being a BIT fucked up #(elros is equally Weird ftr but the atani don’t care as much bc they’re more adaptable than elves and also elros is The Literal King #so there’s nobody of high enough rank to judge him overtly and also i think the numenoreans are like His Weirdness Is Our Weirdness #ALSO also i think early numenor should have a patronage/fosterage system within the nobility that isn’t Officially inspired by All That #but isn’t NOT inspired by it either. which is yet another thing that could come full circle and develop (back) into being #more traditional hostage-taking For Assurance Of Loyalty And Good Behavior as the years wear on and numenor gets corrupted. anyways)#for the record i fall in the middle on the hostage-taking reaction spectrum. i think it’s fucked up to a degree but i also Understand it #as a political tool and i think i’m more forgiving/accepting of it than ur average second- or third-age elf would be #so i think elrond’s blasé reaction (which i have made up) is like. indicative that he does still have some Issues in terms of like #conceptualizing personal relationships and family ones & recognizing that uh being removed from ur family and raised #by their political ‘enemies’ may in fact have Certain (Negative) Emotional Impacts on ppl. #The wiki said he's a seraph #Just like me :3 #So he *should* have 4 wings #I think it's really interesting that 90% of seraphim fall #Like sooner or later most of us do (idk how Jophiel is still up there but good on them I guess)#It's almost like *gasp* the closer you work with humanity the better you can see heaven's hypocrisy and will want to change things!!!#A cynic might argue that humanity corrupted us and that's why we either rebelled or gave up our place in heaven (some of us left willingly)#But I think our eyes were opened. I think seeing humanity up close gave us a new perspective #And I also think Michael is a grade A jackass who needs to quit playing God and be held responsible for his crimes #If you ask me he should be the one locked away in Hell.#He's not just a prideful son of a bitch. We've all seen his wrath first hand.#And he has the audacity to pretend the orders he gives out are coming straight from God himself #we all knew they weren't #But angels are machines.
