sanji having the most obvious crush on usopp because his nose won't stop bleeding whenever he sees him being hot and the smoke of his cigarettes literally turns into hearts all the time... but usopp always, always thinks it's because of nami or robin because he's always with them and he just assumes sanji doesn't like him back. and if it happens when they aren't around he just thinks "oh, well, sanji might be thinking about the girls again instead of me".

and meanwhile, sanji is having the hardest time of his life trying to hide that he's head over heels for the sniper. he's sure usopp knows because he would have to be extremely dumb to not realize, and sanji knows that the guy he's in love with is pretty fucking smart, so...

but he forgets that usopp is also pretty fucking stupid. a little detail he ignored.

because one day, usopp is so frustrated and tired of sanji acting like that around him that he confronts him about it. "hey, dude, i know you're like- like this with nami and robin and that's fine because that's just who you are. but could you not do that every time i'm around? it's getting, uh, suffocating?"

and sanji does not understand what he means. "what, like- like what?"

"like this! the way you're drooling over them all the time. the yelling. the bleeding. the smoke thing that- how- how the fuck do you do that anyway?"

"happens naturally. i think my heart is connected to my lungs or some shit at this point."

sanji can only nod before usopp turns around and goes away.

perhaps usopp is stupid after all, because he's the one that won't see what's in front of him.

as a, so called, free-thinker (dan heng and dan feng liker), I've been thinking how Dan Heng would hate his IL form while Dan Feng would hate his human disguise.

Dan Heng already seems uncomfortable using it in the game... He really only uses it when necessary (like when his companions are about to get their asses kicked). I think he even has a voiceline about how he wishes not to use this power? Yeah, it speaks for itself to me — this man doesn't want to use his magical girl transformation at all because the trauma is speaking through it.

Dan Feng on the other hand is just a pure headcanon of mine. I like to think that because of being prepared to be the high elder, he really didn't have another identity — sure, he liked having his freedom, but the moment he wouldn't be THE high elder, his identity would crumble. Hence, opposite to Dan Heng, he would hate spending too much time in a human disguise. The freedom and not being watched is nice, sure, but his entire existence circles around being The High Elder of the Luofu Vidyadhara. He feels empty without it, like he's not himself anymore.

Wearing fancy clothes that show a bit too much skin for the cold climate of Coruscant. Falling in hate at first sight with Padmé, the only other senator who brings a gun to the senate floor "just in case". there's this neurodivergent thing, where you use an interest as a filter for processing the world.

for some people that is called a "special interest," for others with different needs it is more of a "hyperfixation;" there are far more variations than i (or the field of psychology) know how to describe now. if you want to understand the difference there are people who can explain those variations better than me. but i can tell you what it feels like.

you discover something.

it doesn't matter what it is; you find something that speaks to you, something you can connect to, and it becomes a bubble of safe habitat from which you can rest from and explore and connect to all the other parts of this strange chaotic world.

a source of joy. a source of illumination.

it's like you're a person who has lived all their life in dark caves and you find something that glows.

these interests can be anything.

(literally anything; i personally derive meanings that you could never imagine from �� drainage ditches. ✨)

but very often, they are stories. tv shows, books, movies, comics, songs, podcasts, minecraft improv streams, cartoons, web serials, whatever

these things are:

tangible. you can hold them in your hands, replay them, turn on the subtitles, take screenshots, read the sheet music

and yet

real. they form a genuine connection from your (isolated, untranslatable) internal world to other (formerly unknowable) people and the rest of the universe

they create meaningfulness

and they exist because humans find these incredibly effective soul-deep ways of communicating to one another.

now, appreciating stories, that's not a neurodivergent thing. that's a human thing.

the point of relevance here is that experiencing an extreme love for stories is a neurodivergent thing.

it's a very common neurodivergent trait which often gets mocked, portrayed as childish, and used as a pretext for infantilization and bullying.

(and it is also a trait of young people in general, to take stories very seriously in a way that looks silly to adults, and that is something that many people (regardless of age) try to bully out of each other.

I know I write about how wild Penelope is (she is) but OdyPen is very likeminded. Odysseus is just as wild and out of pocket. It's just that we already KNOW that from the epics. He's a reckless idiotic genius, same with her. It's just that Penelope was under a lot of stress and was missing her other half and that's why only a lil bit of her crazy slipped out with her sneeze omen of death. I can't emphasize enough how weird they BOTH are. They're both menaces together. With the whole "A joy to Friends, and a disaster for their enemies." Except it's not just to their enemies. They just DO shit.
