What instrument each marauder would play according to me and @whoahtherepal:
Regulus: Violin. First desk, first seat. Concert master and a fucking prat about it. Probably grew up playing piano and switched to violin later, and is the biggest sweat in the orchestra. No one wants to be first desk with him because he doesnât have perfect pitch but heâll still know and make sure to tell you when you play slightly out of tune
Marlene: Trumpet obviously. Sheâs the most stereotypical trumpet player ever
Lily: Bassoon, and she would be the biggest oboe hater as well because apparently double reed friendly fire is turned off. She could also maybe play euphonium but maybe thatâs just because euphonium is a very gryffindor coded instrument
James: Oboe. Also later picked up alto sax and established himself as Terrible And Annoying but constantly playing Careless Whisper at any and every given moment. Possibly also trombone just because he likes the slide
Remus: Electric bass. He would mainly play it in a cover band with friends and does not give a shit about school band. Heâs only there because James insisted (and because a certain heir of Black is there). Also even if it isnât technically an ensemble instrument there is literally nothing else that he could possibly be and also we have an electric bass in our band. Iâm so serious we thought about it for so long and there is actually nothing
Evan: Cello. Loves the instrument and initially picked it because Barty really wanted him to be the last member of his string quartet with Regulus and Dorcas
Peter: Flute. Not as invested in music as the rest of his friends but loves it nonetheless.
Mary: Viola. She wanted to learn violin but then she heard it and decided it was too squeaky and high pitched and liked the lower sound of the viola more. Wants to start a wind instrument so she can be with Lily and Marlene, but canât decide on one and loves viola anyway
Pandora: Clarinet and harp as her main instruments but she also used to learn piano and still plays it from time to time
Barty: Percussion because pent up anger issues. Except heâs the craziest tryhard at so he would also play violin, viola, double bass, trumpet, flute, clarinet, and tuba. Heâs that one guy that can play anything, but he would NOT be cooperative about it. The second that thereâs other percussionists there he would ditch and go pick a random section to play with, but if heâs asked to help fill in to help with any missing parts he activates stubborn fucker mode and goes anywhere but where the conductor wants him
Dorcas: Euphonium and violin. First violin because sheâs good but also the only one that regulus wonât be a prick to
Sirius: Flute. Sirius was actually so difficult because heâs such an electric guitar player, but we were trying to do this based off school band/orchestra, so this was our best attempt. He too wouldâve been forced to play piano when he was younger like Regulus, and also wouldâve had to pick a second instrument when he was older. Out of the instruments that his parents gave him the option of, the only non string instruments were flute and clarinet, so he went with flute. He wanted a wind instrument so he could be as loud and raucous on his instrument as possible, and decided flute over clarinet because it âfit his vibe moreâ (he saw punks out on the street with silver studs and spikes and jewellery and thought a silver instrument was close enough). He doesnât really like typical band music though, and does not like school band one bit. He would be more the type of flute player that does solos in a jazz ensemble and somehow manages to fucking shred on the flute and sounds fantastic every time.
#for reference I play like seven (??) instruments but at school mainly piano and clarinet. together our friend group is a whole band#marauders#regulus black#marlene mckinnon#lily evans#james potter#remus lupin#evan rosier#peter pettigrew#mary macdonald#pandora rosier#pandora lovegood#barty crouch jr#dorcas meadowes#sirius black#slytherin skittles#band au#high school au#I guess?#kind of?#wolfstar#jily#marylily#dorlene#rosekiller#marylene#odillisea.txt#harry potter#marauders headcanon

MARAUDERS ERA GIRLS AND THE INSTRUMENTS THEY WOULD PLAY: (p1)
Lily: She would play the cello. Because she loved it since she was a little kid and when she finally got the money to get one she was so excited and happy she would not shut up about it for MONTHS.
Mary: She would love her acoustic guitar, take it everywhere it is acceptable to start playing. It was always in her car, and she painted some cute lilies on it for her Lily.
Marlene: Marlene tried starting her own band but it never worked out, because of that she had her beloved electric guitar, named Cas after her girlfriend. It was bright pink with a flame design.
Pandora: Pandora plays the harp. She loves the vibes and she has one she made mini to play some funny sound effects whenever she wants to. Her big harp in her house is amazing and seems magical and ethereal. She also knows how to play the piano but she doesn't really like it.
Dorcas: C'mon we all know she has a matching electric guitar with her girlfriend Marlene. The guitars name is Marls, and it's purple with a flame design, she barely uses it though, it's like Marlene's second guitar.
Emmeline: She can play a number of instruments and has all of them in her house, but her favourite one is the flute. The flute that she learnt from 4th grade muggle classes, and all she can remember is hot cross buns but she loves her flute so much she adores it.
Emma: She does not play an instrument, she would rather die. Literally. Once her mother tried to force her to learn the drums and she literally exploded. đ„đŁđ€Ż
Sybill: She plays like an insane amount of instruments that are cool & interesting. Omnichord, Otomatone, Nose flute, Clarinet, violin, name something and she probably plays it. She also has a mini version of every single instrument she plays. Once she had a prediction that her house was going to burn down so she carried all her instruments around mini, her house didn't burn down but her instruments were stuck small, so she bought new ones.
Narcissa: Piano. That's all she plays, she much rather prefers drawing, so she has drawing stuff everywhere, she painted and drew all over her grand piano, and she coloured all the keys (idk how it would work) and did cute patterns on them. All the A keys were coloured with Alice's favourite colour <3
Andromeda: Piano &
Bellatrix: The only instrument she knows is the piano, and that was by force (a lot of force). She hates playing the piano, but she knows how to. The piano in her house haunts her (it was a gift from her dad...), she never looks at it, it's covered up.
Alice: We all know that Alice loves her good old drum kit, she learnt ages ago and somehow still remembers it. She always plays for Naricssa, and she used to be in Marlene's 'band'. Thank god it never worked out because Alice hated playing in front of people.

Things that happen at home:
So, my mom had her first symphony concert this weekend, and Iâm happy to report that it was a smashing success.
What I personally thought was really cool is that the whole symphony is mostly older women. Most of the brass section was older men though, and you could tell that the trumpet and trombone players were having a great time with the music (lots of jamming out head and shoulders movement) and WOW that tuba player has A Set Of Lungs.
Honestly kinda makes me miss the days when Middle Sister would stand just outside my bedroom door and just BLAST through her practice session as fast as possible. Yes, she was a tuba player. Yes, she was in marching band and orchestra. Yes, I absolutely ran out screaming âMOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!â Every. Single. Time. No, that did not stop her in anyway whatsoever.
Anyway, there was also a cello soloist that performed with violin and viola accompaniment, and he was legitimately fantastic. I told my mom during intermission that she was better and she did her scrunch up face of Youâre Full Of Shit But I Like The Support which was cute.
I was sitting next to my one of my cousins for the concert and we both kept side eyeing each other and giggling about how he was bobbing along and jamming outâŠfor those of you that donât know, itâs very easy to jam out and look cool when you have either a very small instrument or a very large instrument.
When you have a medium instrument, like a cello or French horn, you just look silly if youâre jamming out (saxophone is the exception) and my mom has this veryâŠcontained way of playing that looks intense but graceful and determined. So to see someone looking like theyâre jamming out on an electric guitar while playing a cello was justâŠhilarious to us, because weâve been watching my mom jam out for decades and never seen anyone look so goofy while sounding so good.
One of my moms work friends showed up, and she was an absolute delight. Complete sweetheart; itâs also really fucking funny to tease government contractors about their top secret clearances and joke about their projects or basically anything that they arenât allowed to talk about. (I teased her specifically about being in the CIA because she does intelligence analysis; my husband and I have a long standing âargumentâ about if my mom works on quantum computers or making targeted ai satellite systems talk to each other, because honestly her PhD could easily allow for both) the goal is to make relatively small jokes and then drop it quickly because you donât actually want them to violate their security protocolsâŠbut fucking hell if it isnât fun to toe the line.
My mechanic husband had the dubious joy of teaching me how to jump start a car in the parking lot without jumper cables. (My car battery is in the fritz and needs replacement but we honestly thought it could wait another month or soâŠ)
But basically you put the car in neutral, push it into a position that it can roll naturally downhill, then put it in either first gear or reverse (which ever way is down hill, basically) and release the clutch. Iâm pretty sure this only works on automatic transmission vehicles, but I could be wrong and didnât ask for clarification.
Iâd like to point out that we were in a crowded parking lot with a perfectly functioning set of jumper cables. We could have absolutely asked any of the ten people walking by if we could get a jump. We could have waited for my cousin to come out, because we were parked right next to each other. But no. âWhat if youâre stuck by yourself? You pride yourself on being able to get out of anything.â
That man knows me too well.
Overall, great night. Fantastic concert, great learning experience, got to be an absolute little shit. 10/10, would do again.
#humans are space orcs#my mom is amazing as always#cello is the best instrument Iâll die on this hill#car trouble#marry a mechanic#trust me it works#but also#marry a plumber#either way you will never be helpless again

I can just see Rodrick and rowley's sister hanging out when they're dating. He's playing loud rock music and teaching her about the best bands and whatnot. He's like "since you like to learn so much, nerd (affectionately) I'm gonna teach you a thing or two about real music"
She's probably classically trained on the piano or violin because her parents paid for lessons since she was a kid and she'd play in talent shows and stuff. Rodrick thinks her classical music isn't all that impressive but thats just on the surface because she's actually so great and technical
HAVE YALL EVER SEEN METAL LORDS???? BC RODRICK AND JEFFERSON!READER ARE TOTALLY KEVIN AND EMILY
rodrick thinks you're a bit boring bc all you play is classical music, but he knows that you're a really good musician. so he writes out sheet music of one of his songs and asks if you can learn it, and it sounds so good. you guys end up always practicing/playing together
if you went full rock on rodrick one day (like maybe one of his bandmates had to cancel on a show or something), showing up in a hot full black outfit and electric cello or violin, that man would probably marry you on the spot (your parents might have a heart attack watching you leave the house tho)

Who plays what (Band/Orchestra) instrument in MH. (Not including the comics, I'm so sorry.) Because I have Violin exams in a week and I'm stressed.
Brian: Double bass. Look at him and tell me he's not a double bass kind of person. If you don't know what a double bass looks like, go Google it. They're fucking huge. I feel like he'd also be really good at, if he just practiced. (Admittedly, this is something I do.)
Tim: The violin. I think he'd be good at it. I kind of wanted to put him in cello though. (I think he'd play second violin. I'm a first violin kind of person though.)
Jay: Electric bass and/or cello. I couldn't decide.
Alex: I know he played the keyboard in the show, but I'm putting him in percussion (Drums and shit like that) for reasons.
Seth: Saxophone. I had to because otherwise one of my friends is going to murder me. Also because it fits him. (Also, to be more specific, I think he'd play alto sax. Or tenor sax.)
Jessica: Clarinet. Also piano, because people can play more than one instrument. Not me though.
Amy: Flute and piano. Also she somewhat knows how to play drums because of Alex.
Sarah: Oboe. It's a very underrated instrument and I like the sound of it. It's pretty heavy though. Sarah just seems like the kind of person who plays the oboe.

If all of the Reds and Blues and Freelancers played instruments, what do you think they'd all play? All I can think of is Doc/O'Malley on violin (probably gets really into it like Devil Went Down To Georgia), Sarge on trumpet (cuz bugles but can actually play it nice too), Florida on ukulele, and Maine and Locus taking up classic guitar and cello respectively for therapeutic reasons and ending up getting really into it.
Those all sound really good!
Hmm... it depends on what kind of music they're going for. I think in general, most of them haven't had the chance to really practice much music, but in season 15, we saw some of them formed a band! Carolina sings (so good), and it looked like Grif and Tucker were both on guitar, while Caboose did drums (if I remember right).
Sarge is certainly musically inclined, in regards to how much he likes to make up songs about killing stuff he doesn't like. I'm gonna say he knows how to play guitar, generally classic-rock/folk/country with what he does, but he surprises people by listening to wide range of musical genres (he's got a big collection that includes heavy metal and hip-hop). Oh, and he rocks on the harmonica!
Grif is good with guitar, and he'd probably be good on drums as well, but I'd like to think he secretly hides a gift with piano. Like, he can just naturally do really amazing/complicated pieces with ease (but when he was younger, little jerks he went to school with called that "sissy music", so he was awkward about sharing it with anybody). He's good with a uke too, and a very nice singer (again, if he's not feeling embarrassed)
Simmons WISHES he could play something like the violin or cello... but he just doesn't have rhythm, and gets too frustrated to practice properly. He doesn't have a bad voice, but he's a nervous mess if he tries to sing in front of people. He's able to get decent on the piano (with some help from Grif), and since he's a tech guy, he finds his own niche with electric keyboards (nothing too extravagant, but still very good)
Carolina is the one who had fancy music lessons when she was younger, but she's out of practice (she used to be good on clarinet and violin). She gets back into music and singing, picking up some guitar and piano... but surprises everybody by randomly deciding to get REALLY good at the harp (just to show off, haha)
Doc and O'Malley would certainly learn to play violin and fiddle, but I think they'd also practice different kinds of unique instruments; the kalimba, the tabla, the veena, the dholak, the balafon, and various types of flutes (they both also know how to make small little instruments with woodcraft; various things that Doc knows from his own traditions and heritage). They also are very good singers, Doc being especially into acapella/using voices to simulate instruments (though, O'Malley tends to ham it up for "villain" songs~)
Kai is more into mixing music, creating beats, maybe making something new with samples, and she is a killer DJ (dance music, electronica, techno remixes, and all similar variations. she's pretty good at changing up the "tone" of a song, but still keeping the melody strong)
Church is kinda-sorta good at a few things, but nothing he's invested in/practices often. However, he's pretty good at writing songs when he can focus on it (the Fragments all help, and they have a variety of musical genres they are into)
Tex is also OK with certain instruments, but not especially passionate to play anything often (she can sing though, but is the opposite of Carolina, who tends to lean toward more energetic songs. Tex will sing lower and slower)
Wash learned how to play the recorder in middle school. He can also play a kazoo, and can shake a tambourine on the beat. That's about it... with some help, he's OK on drums (he likes to back-up sing/harmonize with other people rather than sing solo)
Caboose is good on drums, he can put all his energy into making a strong rhythm! He's also good on various horns/brass and woodwinds, and really vibes with free-form jazz
Donut gets more caught-up with performing, he loves two come up with songs, sing and dance. He mostly likes pop-rock, but gets into other genres occasionally (he knows how to play the melodica very well). His big dream is to write a bunch of musicals~
Tucker is very good at different kinds of guitar, and he's a great singer as well (he didn't think he'd be into it, but just for practice, he tries out some classical/opera, and he's actually VERY impressive, he can project his voice very well and change the tone/pitch easily, and so he plays around merging old-school stuff with newer themes of music)
Locus hasn't had time for music in years... but he learned how to play different things as a kid; quena, siku, and some percussion instruments
Lopez can play basically anything he wants. People outside the loop will think it is just because he's a robot, and is therefore "copying" music that is already recorded... but Lopez will combine two completely different instruments and use them together in ways most people couldn't think of (he also leans toward very sappy loves songs, inspired by his adoration for Sheila~)
I don't have too many thoughts for the Freelancers... but if they could have had a different life path, York would probably have done well in a boy band, and South would have been a punk-rock star~

MY TIME HAS COME
(This is in accordance to marching band btw)
Leo is trumpet. As a former trumpet, he is trumpet. Super chaotic, a lot of people don't like him, loud and flashy and gets all the solos. And the entire section is at war and forming a coup with the mellophones against the section leader. This did happen to me when I was in the trumpet section lmao.
Raph is tuba. Yes I said tuba, not soosaphone, because the school can't afford the soosaphone so he carries the tuba on his shoulder (YES I KNOW A KID WHO DOES THIS ITS INSANE HE LIKE BACK ROLL STEPS WHICH IS JUST WALKING BACKWARDS ON YOUR TIPTOES WITH A FUCKING TUBA ON HIS SHOULDER FOR HOURS HE IS NOT HUMAN). He's super chill and practices like a good student :) he makes sure everyone has their valve oil and hangs up their uniforms right and GODDAMN IT LEO DID YOU FORGET YOUR BLACK SOCKS AGAIN!?!? Dont worry, he has electrical tape. (If you know, you know)
Donnie is on percussion. Because of his love for dubstep he just gives rhythm vibes and he's used to wearing big heavy metal objects on his torso because BATTLE SHELL. He would also handle any like techy sound effects the show had, or any lights or anything, since that's usually handled where the pit is. Also I could totally seem him absolutely EATING with an electric bass. Which I know a kid who does electric bass in marching band, though that's kinda weird of him so idk. Also I've notices lots of autistic people join the percussion section. Like thats not a main reason but yeah.
Mikey is hardest but honestly? I feel like he would lean visual ensomble. Like my man would slay at baton YOU ALREADY KNOW. I actually have an already written out 5 paragraph essay about what colorguard equitment each turtle would pick because. Um. I felt like it. And Mikey would definitely eat up for dance portions with his acrobatics skills, as well as do super well on baton (single or double, I'm leaning double because of his nunchucks)
AAAAAND I'm just now realizing your ask said associated with battle style and movement and not purely on Vibe. Which like. I feel like these work for both. Anyway.
SHORT ANSWER:
Leo: trumpet
Donnie: percussion
Raph: tuba
Mikey: majorette
Oh and April would be in the orchestra. Obviously. Probbles either violin or cello. Or maybe bass. She would eat at bass.
Question for everyone to answer however they like!
What musical instruments do you associate with the turtlesâ respective fighting styles/movements? Doesnât have to be just one thing, multiple together also works! Iâm just very curious what everyone thinks of tbh. Not like, actual songs or anything, but straight up sounds that reflect the charactersâ!đ¶

NRC School Newspaper Birthday Celebrant Special Interview: Malleus Edition
Part 1
Happy birthday! Those clothes really suit you well!
Malleus: Is that so? I don't really wear white clothes that much, so this feels new to me. Had I not gone out of the Valley of Thorns, I surely wouldn't have worn white clothes for all my life.
What color of clothes do you normally wear?
Malleus: Black. In the Draconia family, it's prized as the most noble of colors. As a member of the royal family, even as a child, I wore a lot of black colored clothes. I thought that this time is a good opportunity, so I tried them on and white clothes are unexpectedly good.
How do you feel about celebrating your birthday?
Malleus: It's just the same as normal. It's nothing for me to be excited or moved about. Unlike you humans, we of the fae folk do not change our appearances for a very long time. That's why it's a mystery for me, seeing you humans celebrate your birthdays joyfully.
What do you mean by that?
Malleus: Humans have a short life span. At most, you can only live up to a hundred years, right? When your birthday comes, it means that you are one year closer to your end. But even so, you still celebrate it full of joy... It's a difficult thing for me to understand.
I've never thought of it that way.
Malleus: Fufu... I don't know if you're just thick-headed or if you're just a person with a strong character. Maybe it's because that they have short lifespans that humans celebrate happily.
Part 2
I've heard that you're an excellent magician, even within the school. What kind of magic are you particularly good at?
Malleus: When it comes to magic, I have neither strong nor weak points. In you humans' point of view, you can say that I'm what you call "good at everything". Oh, that's right. Since everyone's gathered here, maybe I should use some magic to make the party even more fun. Just like the Witch of Thorns who made thorns grow all around a whole castle in an instant. Maybe I should copy that and make thorns grow all around and decorate the party venue!
That might be dangerous...
Malleus: Is that so...? I thought that you'd be happy if I do it for you as thanks for today... This is quite difficult.
Other than magic, are there other things that you're good at?
Malleus: I'm confident in my skill in playing stringed instruments. After all, I've received lessons from Lilia when I was in the Valley of Thorns. When I was a child, I rarely received permission to go outside, so I've spent a lot of time alone inside the castle. Thanks to that, I was able to practice a lot. I can now play most stringed instruments. And within those, I'm especially good in playing the classic instruments like the violin and cello.
What do you think about joining the Light Music Club?
Malleus: The truth is... Lilia invited me before, and I've considered joining. But when I went to observe the club, I wasn't able to use the electric violin that they've prepared very well. I drew out such a deafening, monstrous sound that the students that were in that area all collapsed. If I remember correctly, Diamond was foaming at the mouth and then collapsed. Lilia just laughed it off, but I've done something bad to everyone. After that, I've never shown my face in the Light Music Club. After all, they won't accept me after what happened, right?
Part 3
Did you receive any messages from your family?
Malleus: Yes. I've received a message from my grandmother, my only living relative. Grandmother is the Queen of the Valley of Thorns... While I am enrolled in school, she single-handedly handles the affairs of the Valley, so she's very busy. I'm sure that right now, she's too busy to even write a letter. But she always sends me one every year. I am deeply moved by my grandmother's thoughtfulness. And also, aside from the birthday greetings that she writes on the card, she also attaches some rose seeds in it. When I was in the Valley of Thorns, I used to plant them in the castle's garden. Because of that, it's now a wonderful rose garden.
That's amazing!
Malleus: Indeed. Of course, it's beautiful to see the flowers while in full bloom, but the rose garden is tranquil and quite enchanting even after the flowers have fallen. It's the garden that I am proud of. Should you have the chance to come to the Valley of Thorns, I'll show it to you.
What kind of food do you like?
Malleus: Frozen desserts. The inside of my mouth gets hot whenever I breathe flames. When I eat it right after, the taste is exceptional. These days, there's a lot of different kinds of frozen desserts being made. It's fun to compare how they taste to how they look. Oh right, recently, I've seen some that have the words "You won!" written on the stick. It's quite unusual, don't you think? I think they're precious items, so I'm collecting them. Once I graduate, I'll take them back with me to the Valley of Thorns.
What kind of food do you hate?
Malleus: Whole cakes. I don't really dislike sweets but that one is just too big. It's because it's my birthday that I allowed it but... I'll get heartburn if I eat all of it.
It's not something you're supposed to eat alone, you know?
Malleus: Of course I know that! It's just that... I didn't have anyone who'll eat with me when I celebrated my birthday.
Then let's eat it together with everyone today! Malleus: That's right. If we do that, then maybe I'll change my view of whole cakes. I'm looking forward to it.
Once again, happy birthday!

Instruments the Pevensie's Would Play
Peter
Violin
Piano
Guitar
Peter picked up the violin at the age of five after hearing a busker play on the street. Ever since, he's been dedicated to the instrument, always trying to improve. Peter is a talented, expressive player, and is equally good at fast and slow pieces. He was the first Pevensie at his music school, and the teachers were over the moon when they heard that more of his family would be joining.
When Peter was eight, he decided that he wanted to learn the piano as well, and was a fast learner, quickly excelling at the instrument. He found it calming to sit down and play such a relaxing instrument when he felt stressed by the responsibility of being the eldest.
When Peter was twelve, he picked up the guitar, finding the chordal instrument relatively easy after having learnt violin for seven years. He trained in classical guitar, but is amazing at electric and bass too.
Susan
Voice
Piano
Harp (in Narnia)
Susan always had a great interest in culture, music especially, so it's no wonder she balanced so many instruments.
Susan loved to sing from an early age, and decided she wanted classes when she was nine. These consisted mostly of phrasing, a few arias and popular songs, as well breath control. At fourteen, her singing lessons became more serious, and she started to explore the techniques of operatic singing, officially starting classical pieces at fifteen. She joined the choir shortly after beginning her singing lessons and is easily the best soprano there, meaning she gets lots of solos and duets. Susan is a soprano with a 2-3 octave range.
There was a piano in the Pevensie household. Helen Pevensie had it because she took lessons when she was younger, and wanted to keep practising her skills even after she stopped. When Susan started showing interest, she taught her some basic scales and tunes. When Susan turned eight, she began to go to professional classes like her older brother, and they coincidentally had the same teacher.
Susan had always liked the harp, and longed to learn how to play the elegant instrument, but its cost, weight, and size prevented her from doing so. You can imagine her surprise then, when she discovered that the harp was played in Narnia. Susan quickly sought out the best teacher she could find (a dryad) and began to learn. By the time her and her siblings accidentally stumbled back through the wardrobe, she was an exceptional player, and her talent at the harp â along with the piano and singing â was a contributing factor to the number of marriage proposals she received.
Edmund
Violin
Viola
Piano (kind of)
Following in the footsteps of his older brother, Edmund started playing violin at the age of five. Like Peter, he was excelled at the instrument, astounding his teacher and those who went to the music school concerts with his technique, tone and style.
However, when he was eleven, Edmund began to show interest in the viola. He found its low pitch and sound pleasing to the ear, and though it greatly lacks in repertoire â and is made fun of by violinists and other string players â he found himself drawn to the shunned instrument, seeing the beauty behind its sombre sound. His violin teacher offered to give him lessons free of charge, as the family already gave so much to the school, and Edmund accepted. He knew it wouldn't be difficult, as the technique was the same as that of the violin, and he would only need to get used to a bigger instrument and reading in alto clef.
Once in Narnia, he decided that he would learn the piano. When Peter found him sitting down trying to figure out how to play, he offered to teach him, and very soon, piano duets filled the halls of Cair Paravel every Saturday.
Lucy
Cello
Voice
When Lucy was six, she heard a recording of Jacqueline du Pré playing Elgar's cello concerto in E minor. When it came on the radio, she stopped reading her book and went completely silent. Lucy was entranced by the music, and the deep, rich tone of the cello. Afterwards, the youngest Pevensie decided it was time for her to take up music lessons. Getting her first cello is one of the happiest moments of her life, and as she grew older, she only loved it more. Even the way you play the cello - as if you are hugging it - matched Lucy's affection for her instrument perfectly. Her favourite piece she's played so far is The Swan by Saint-Saëns, and her dream is to play the Elgar concerto that first inspired her to take up the cello.
Lucy also loves to sing, and has a bright joyful voice. Though she never took private lessons, she is in the choir at the music school the Pevensies go to and loves every minute of it - especially when she gets to proudly watch Susan do a solo. Lucy is a mezzo-soprano with a 2 octave range.

Relistening to Maf 3 soundtrack, hereâs some very rough and uncompleted notes:
-acoustic guitar, bass, viola + I think another stringed instrument as well (cello, maybe?), organ/piano (usually in singular or dual notes but it depends on the song), cymbals, drums (usually on the softer side, more psychedelic rock influence), occasional electric guitar and electric bass, I think keyboard at some points?
-Sadder song(s)- âA Kind of Peaceâ (more piano use, I personally think the piano represents Father James), âOnly One Thing Weâre Good Atâ (more guitar, sounds isolated and alone. I think itâs meant to be Lincoln, as his motif is repeated a bunch). The viola/violin might also be Father James
-Rock-inspired âharderâ songs- âNo One is Untouchableâ (electric guitars are emphasized alongside drums and backed up by âsofterâ/more orchestral instruments, cymbals are also used a lotâ very much âoverlayedâ, occasionally the acoustic guitar appears mostly in the middle, some Vietnamese influence I think?), and âThatâs the Plan, Padreâ (faster-paced, electric and acoustic guitar together alongside keyboard and piano, 8/8ths timing? idk music theory sorry, clapping section is my favorite, very much rock influenced and âangryâ sounding with Johnâs influence seeping in, again with piano and acoustic guitar. FJ and Lincoln..?).
-I donât quite know what to make of âFor Old Timesâ Sakeââ very evocative of slower 60s romance songs (which is odd, as itâs Cassandraâs theme, maybe that was some plan in beta that never went through?), and I think it very much borrows from other themes in the beginning. At ~1:30 it goes back to the acoustic guitar and themes of the rest of the track, and at ~2:00 it starts to blend more rock influences and the organ for⊠some reason. I think organ and piano (or keyboard) here is Cassandra somewhat âtoyingâ with Lincolnâs perception, but Iâm not sure. This theme just sticks out for how disjointedly fascinating it is, and I like it. Donât love it but I like it.
-Also in âKind of Peaceâ thereâs barely any drums, but in âthatâs the planâ, thatâs almost always there. So hereâs my current thoughts on symbolism:
FJ: piano, violin/viola/stringed instrument?, organ (which represents the priest/church more than him the individual)
Lincoln: in-war, electric guitar and electric bass, but by himself, acoustic guitar/bass (usually)
John: drums. Supports Lincoln all the way, but barely at all shows up in FJâs theme
Cassandra: âŠkeyboard? The trick here might be that she doesnât have her own instrument and instead uses othersâ, but Iâm not 100% sure on it
Thatâs all I got for right now but @floating-space-jellyfish got to hear the original rant so maybe Iâll complete it (once I find the soundtrack because Iâve only had luck for 3 songs- please send it to me if you find it!).
Also tagging @tommytranselo because of that one music history in Maf trilogy universe post he made from ages ago

StarKid and Musical Score #2
Pop culture parodies tread fine lines to avoid copyright violations, especially when it comes to music. Some go for a certain mood or genre to evoke the source. Holy Musical B@man! is a great example. Nick Gage and Scott Lamps used strictly synthesizer and an electronic drum kit. They made great use of the standard synthesizer sound, calling to mind â80s new wave electronic music; a darker electric guitar sound to capture the gritty Batman from The Dark Knight or The Killing Joke; and light and playful bell tones, representing the innocence of Robin or perhaps the campy silliness of the â60s Batman TV show.
When itâs a parody musical of a musical, the challenge is even greater. Enter Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier.
Thereâs not a lot of interstitial music to set the scenes, but what little there is excels with capturing the mood, like the eerie strings and woodwinds coupled with sporadic percussion during Aladdinâs breakdown near the end. Instead, Twisted features a large number of songs to fill its 2.25 hour runtime, so Iâm going to focus on the instrumentals of those for this post. The instrumentation for this show includes keyboard, drums, guitar/bass, violin, cello, flute, clarinet, and alto/tenor saxophone. Itâs a much bigger and more varied band than any StarKid show had before or since.
The endeavor that composer A.J. Holmes, accompanied by incredible lyricist Kaley McMahon, set out on was to evoke not only the source material, Disneyâs Aladdin, but also other Disney movies of the same era and the Broadway musical Wicked. The Disney references are all over the place, including the Disney-fied StarKid logo. The latter was accomplished via the title (Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier vs. Wicked: The Untold Story of a Wicked Witch), the album cover, the method of role reversal (a villain posed as the hero of their own story), and even a direct reference to the book. But A.J., along with orchestrator Andrew Fox and music director Justin Fischer, took it a step further with several songs to give the audience a truly immersive and magical experience.
To keep it simple, Iâm going to link each song--or most, as some I canât quite figure out--to another Disney or Wicked song that A.J. was likely, or even obviously, taking influence from. The similarities are often in the instrumentation and tempo; chord progressions and adjacent melodies; or lyrics and character situations.
Not a song, but the opening music evokes the haunting strings and bells in the opening of Beauty and the Beast to a tee. Like...itâs a dead ringer, obviously in purpose.
âDream a Little Harderâ: An opening ensemble number like âBelleâ from Beauty and The Beast. Introduces the protagonist and the surrounding characters with a sweet and tremulous flute at the beginning and bouncy strings throughout. Lyrics mirror each other, i.e. âFuck youâ = âBonjourâ...Nickâs favorite line, âMarie! The baguettes! Hurry up!â...they all hate Jaâfar vs. they all think Belle is weird. Belle is even part of the ensemble, telling Jaâfar to keep his âfat face out of the mother fucking bookâ! Itâs a pretty obvious comparison.Â
âI Steal Everythingâ:Â âOne Jump Aheadâ from Aladdin is the obvious parallel in orchestration, melody, tempo, lyrics, character situation...everything.
âEverything and Moreâ: Again, an obvious parody of âPart of Your Worldâ from The Little Mermaid. Same gentle yet sweeping melody, same lilting tempo paired with vocals timid one moment and powerful the next, lyrics exploring desire for more.
âA Thousand and One Nightsâ: This one was a little harder, as really none of the Disney princesses have duets with their princes. But I think it pairs well with âCan You Feel the Love Tonightâ from The Lion King, at least after Timon and Pumbaa have their moment! The back and forth between lovers talking to themselves about the other has a similar feel. Honestly, this song is pretty original and yet manages to evoke Disney love song perfectly without copying any. The gentle melody, sweeping yet sweet orchestration, and the dialogue really sell it. They knew it was the love song because they went ahead and parodied the cheesy pop covers that â90s Disney movies are known for with a true bop performed by Britney Coleman and Carlos Valdes.
âOrphaned at 33âł: Perhaps the reprise of âOne Jump Aheadâ? Itâs slower and more melancholy and has similar chord progression and crooning vocals. Maybe âGo the Distanceâ from Hercules? Both are songs of sadness and longing, but StarKidâs Aladdin is far more pathetic and creepy than Hercules. EDIT:Â âProud of Your Boyâ, which was cut from Aladdin and put in the stage show, is absolutely the reference here! Again, a song of sadness and longing and self-pity and lamentation of a bad childhood...and StarKidâs Aladdin is still more pathetic. Musical parallels: similar chord progressions, embellishments, instrumentation, time signature, tempo, etc.; starts with delicate notes and Aladdin just talking (this starts at 46 seconds in âOrphaned at 33âł, after a prelude); lilting and tiptoeing melody in the middle (1:56 for âOrphanedâ, 1:08 for âProudâ); powerful sustained vocals and sweeping winds and strings to finish. I know this song was in the back of my mind, but it just wasnât coming to me. Thank you @hatchetfieldtheories and @melchron for helping me out!Â
âHappy Endingâ: The last half, at 1:50, really reminds me of âDefying Gravityâ from Wicked, specifically at 5:15. The quiet and tense music make way for powerful vocals and are just waiting to burst forth for a showstopping ending. Both songs are also Act 1 closers. I canât really place the rest of âHappy Endingâ, but it all reminds me of Wicked with the powerful rock guitar and drums paired with cinematic strings. Plus, I always love when multiple melodies come together as reprises, most often as Act 1 closers!
âNo One Remembers Achmedâ: A sillier version of âGastonâ from Beauty and The Beast. The spurned villainâs cohorts are pumping him up and singing his praises! Both melodies are jaunty, though with different instrumentation...Twistedâs featuring sillier sound effects and goofy xylophone.
âTake Off Your Clothesâ: A sexier version of âA Whole New Worldâ from Aladdin. Slightly modified melody, and obviously the lyrics, but itâs exactly the same.
âThe Power in Meâ: A solemn and sweet farewell duet between friends like âFor Goodâ from Wicked. The delicate woodwinds and strings sound similar to the gentle synth in âFor Goodâ. Vocal performances are cautious and tender at first but quickly become strong and confident. âYou are the power in meâ and âI have been changed for goodâ follow almost the exact same rhythm.
The titular song has many facets, so Iâll detail them here:
Opening to 1:03 and 5:55 to the end = âNo Good Deedâ from Wicked, with the same intense strings and percussion. The whole situation and lyrics match, with both Jaâfar and Elphaba deciding to just be antiheroes because no one sees them as heroes anyway. âIâll be twisted, itâs my turnâ matches âNo good deed will I do ever againâ and âIâm wicked through and throughâ.
1:10-2:06 =Â âPoor Unfortunate Soulsâ from The Little Mermaid...itâs Ursula, so of course...but also, the woodwinds and keyboard mimicking brass evoke the same bouncy yet menacing rhythm, akin to an evil polka.
2:07-2:50 =Â âBe Preparedâ from The Lion King. Obviously, itâs Scarâs moment...but also, they have similar deep and primitive drums and woodwinds.
The rest of the songs (âSands of Timeâ, âGolden Ruleâ, and âIf I Believedâ) I couldnât really place, but they still evoke the source materials. âGolden Ruleâ has a classic musical theatre ensemble number feel, with fun strings and woodwinds and delightful choruses; the reprise turns it on its head with menacing piano and bass. âIf I Believedâ is another take on an âI wantâ song; the flute and cello pair very nicely together to support Dylanâs soulful voice.
My next post in this series will likely be about the Hatchetfield series: The Guy Who Didnât Like Musicals, Black Friday, and Nightmare Time. Thereâs a lot in between, like the AVP Trilogy, ANI, and Starship, but the music for those stands out less to me. Theyâre great, donât get me wrong, but I think that the score is not what makes them special. The Hatchetfield stuff, however...is intense.
Thanks for reading!

Malleus Birthday Story
Just facts. Whole translation here.
With black being a noble color for the Draconia family, he's not used to wear white clothes. The only reason why he agreed on wearing this outfit was he could not wear white clothes anymore once he's back on the Valley of Thorns.
He's not really happy nor moved by this, his birthday is not a different day than usual since as a fae, his appereance will last long like now. In fact, he doesn't understand why are humans so exited about birthday celebration since our lifespan is as short as only 100 years [or less].
He defines himself as "not good nor bad at casting magic" despite being one of the most âif not the first mostâ powerful magician at NRC, though from a human pov, he understands he seems to be good at everything about it.
Thinking it's a good idea to cast some magic to make party a little bit more interesting, he makes a reference to Maleficent covering a whole castle with thorns within seconds... And tries to do so himself. Yuu stops him pointing out it could be a little bit dangerous.
Aside from magic, he's good at playing string instruments as Lilia taught him back at his homeland. He was not allowed to go out as a kid, so he had lots of time to practice âhe can play almost every string instrument, being specially good at classics like violin and cello.
Lilia invited him to the Light Music Club. But he couldn't handle the electrical violin: the "ear-splitting" sound made everyone collapse.
Cater collapsed with foaming in his mouth. Lilia just laughed at that, but he felt bad for such scene so he never returned to the club again.
He received a card form his grandmother [who seems to be the Witch of Thorns herself, lmao I cried on happiness when finding out] who is the only relative left to him. As the Queen of the Valley, she's too busy to write a letter, yet she sends him a letter every year.
He has a beautiful rose garden at the Valley of Thorns, this because attached to the letter, there are always rose seeds he is use to plant. Flowers at bloom are beautiful, but even more when they have fallen.
He loves ice. It's delicious eating it right after breathing fire.
He keeps the stick of a popsicle since he had never seen one before, this "strange kind of ice cream" is a rare item for him, so he'll take the stick to the Valley once he's graduated.
He hate whole cakes. Not sweet food, but that's a lof for him, he got heartburn so he couldn't finish the whole cake.
He didn't do that because he liked it âit was because he had no one he could share the cake with.
I love this image for the simple fact that he seems happy, he is enjoying this little celebration. Even the cake is a beautiful brown piece with white sparkles, tiny black thorns and pretty black roses at the top and the bottom.
Background we could see Lilia, surprised maybe. And those big hands with exaggerated movements could only be Sebek. Being him, another figure who I deduce could be Silver.
I love Diasomnia's Family.

âI am magical indeed, Iâm a warlock.â William answered before fully paying attention to every detail of the others life. He couldnât help but frown when he heard the other day that his twin brother had bullied him and that they werenât close anymore. âIâm sorry to hear about you and your twin, thatâs horribleâ he sympathizes before continuing to listen to the younger speak. His heart couldnât help but flutter more and more when he had talked, relishing in the sweet sound of his voice. Donât even get him started on that soft giggle he heard, he was about to explode any second now. He was delighted that they had similar hobbies except the only difference was William was more of a social butterfly than he was an introvert. âWell, seems like we have almost the same hobbies.â He smiles before talking about himself. âWell Iâm 21 years old born in Korea but raised in the U.K. My biological parents gave me up for adoption and this wealthy family ended up adopting me. Growing up I was always the smartest kid out of all my adoptive siblings it was a blessing and a curse sometimes because they were from the Elites, it was destined that the smarter and richer you were the more powerful you became.â He starts off before taking a sip of his water. âI already have my Bachelors degree so Iâm here studying abroad for my Masterâs degree in Electrical Engineering, what better way than to study in a city that is so advanced in technology. I do have an undergraduate degree in business administration and Economics. But I was so smart back in Europe that it only took me two years to finish getting my degrees.â He beams before getting into his hobbies. âAs far as hobbies go, I like to read for fun too. I also go to historical museums from time to time, I do volunteer work for children adoption agencies as a mentor. I also played Chess growing up but it never stuck to me like Go did so I just ended up being really good at that game instead. I play an array of instruments from the piano down to the violin and cello. And I love meeting new people.â He finished before blushing at how the other was looking at him. âYou know, I think itâs cute how introverted you are, that means I can keep you all to myself.â He winks before placing a nicely wrapped sandwich in front of Axel. âEat up, you need nutrition to keep your brain energized.â
Axel was in the park near the Todai dorms playing Go against himself like the nerd he is, a copy of Demien by Hermann Hesse laid face down on the table next to him as he concentrated on his next move. He moved his stone into position and didn't notice someone had taken the vacant seat across from him until he went to move the opponent's stone and touched someone's hand. His hand tingled all the way up his arm as he looks up at the stranger. Pulling his hand back, Axel blushes. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize anyone had joined me." He says shyly.

You know what headcannon that I just thought of that Iâm in love with. The idea that everyone except Luke can play a variety of instruments.
Like Julie can play guitar, piano
Maybe fiddle just for Reggie.
Oh and for my self indulgence she plays the harp.
Alex because his parents learned how to play the piano, violin, and cello.
Heâs been playing piano since the age of 4 and violin and cello since the age of 6
So to say his hands are messed up is a understatement lol
He also played the flute in marching band and literally any type of percussion.
Triangle? Yes.
Timpani? Yea
Bongos? surprisingly yeah.
Glockenspiel? Of Course
Reggie is a jack of all trades when it comes to playing instruments.
My man can literally look at instruments and now how to play it lmao
Like we already know that he can play bass, piano, and banjo
But like he can play guitar, viola, trumpet, trombone, saxophone (soprano, alto, and BARITONE)
Like Reggie gives me both saxophone kid energy and clarinet kid energy
WAIT NO HE GIVES ME UKULELE KID ENERGY!!! (I can say that because I play)
I also feel like he was like 5â3 until the age of 15 when he had a massive growth spurt so like imagine this 5â3 kid carrying a tuba
LIKE HE ACTUALLY SOUNDS GOOD ON THE RECORDER
Carlos and Julie introduced him to the otamatone and he got it down almost perfectly in two days
But Luke however is just extremely talented on the guitar (acoustic and electric) but like his brain just doesnât connect with any other instrument lol
He tried violin but he broke two separate bows on his first day
He is also both too soft and too hard on the drums and that freaks Alex out
Heâs mediocre at best with piano but on the upside he had more Julie-time because she very motivated to teach him
A/N:
Anyway hereâs my pretty messy headcannon written in 5 minutes!!! Also Iâm going to start my tag list for my writing so let me know if you want to be included. OH and let me know if you want to be taken off of it or if you have any suggestions. Tag list will be the reblog and I promise theyâll be more put together than this (I have some ones that are actual coherent stories lol) but I had a break at work and a dumb idea lol.
