As much as John Thorpe from Northanger Abbey is the perfect portrayal of that kind of annoying, repulsive Car Guy, both Charles Musgrove (Persuasion) & Sir John Middleton (Sense & Sensibility) are such good examples of Sports Husband. They both are married to a woman who shares no common interests with them, but they're nice about it, nice to everyone in fact, and good fun to hang out with, but their true heart is for sports (hunting in this case). Today they would be watching the playoffs at some bar with their friends, but still going home for their kids' bedtime.
