There's this very funny little detail in season 2 episode 5 where they are all cheering Hyunju's team winning the six-legged race and Jungbae turns and looks like he's about to hug Gihun or something and sees Inho/Gihun cheering off screen and he looks low key kinda startled by whatever homoerotic touching was going on between them, and he goes and hugs Daeho and Junhee again (he already hugged them) and it's the funniest thing ever to me.

(^ here's them standing next to Jungbae, Jungbae turns and looks at Inho, whatever he sees is weird af or something but he doesn't hug either of them, and turns back around and hugs the other two wholesome ones)

He was a pretty solid bro and never tried to get in the way between Gihun and Inho. (yes I am still bitter Inho killed him. I understand why for plot sakes, but still) I mean, if it were Sangwoo, Inho probably wouldn't even have gotten the chance to sit next to Gihun in the first place (Sangwoo would probably be suspicious of Inho very early on. Inho had it easy with Jungbae).

And the two of them calling Gihun "hyung" would have been diabolical.

Can I just say that one of my favorite parts of the 457-dynamic in fandom is that usually In-ho’s big bad nefarious evil plan to convince Gi-hun to join his side is — to show that he loves him? That’s it. No frills, no nothing. He just worships the ground Gi-hun walks on.

And here’s the best part.

It works. Gi-hun is not a protagonist who’s above it all. He doesn’t turn his nose up at it. Even when he rejects In-ho, it’s not about whether he’s tempted or not, it’s about him being opposed to In-ho’s ideology. The man, for all his kindness, for all the way he freely gives affection, has probably never been treated like he’s worth something in his life. He’s so touch-starved, love-starved — that actually yeah, being in love with him is a strategy that works.

And the way it’s practically canon too. For example the part where In-ho slipped up and called Gi-hun by his name:

Do you know you’ve known this man for two days Gi-hun? Do you know you’re third-wheeling a room of four-hundred people? Oh my god get it together!

Honestly it’s downright diabolical. They are soulmate-coded and I eat it up.

Wow!!! Like when you put it that way...

I think it is kind of beautiful that from just 4 (FOUR!!!) episodes, this fandom community has come up with and created so many amazing pieces of art, fanfictions, fan videos, and AUs and think-piece posts. Of course none of this would have come to be without the foundation of Lee Jung-Jae and Lee Byung-hun chemistry and the intrigue and depth of Gihun and Inho's character dynamics

BUT! I am also so amazed and grateful for this ship's fandom's creativity and what everyone has been producing! Like the fanfics of 457 when Squid Game 2 first came out was like in the 100s, and now in like 2 months there are 1800!!! You all are amazing!

This hyper-fixation has both distracted me (in a good way!) and has kept me motivated while I'm doing work. 😆 But WOW - all this from 4 episodes is pretty wild.

4 episodes. we only had 4 episodes of these two together and that’s all it took to create this undeniable chemistry and flesh out this insanely intricate and complex relationship between them. it never stop unraveling. there’s simply nothing like it. it’s amazing. it’s incredible. a cinematic masterpiece.

Some Notes On In-ho's Room (on the Island)

I'm insane so I scanned through S1 to see everything I could about In-ho's bedroom in the Front Man suite. Here are my notes.

-In-ho’s bedroom walls are slatted, glossy black, possibly a polished and painted wood

-There’s a thick gray rug on his floor, which otherwise looks almost like smooth painted concrete, black

-There’s a chandelier in here too but not quite as fancy as the heavy crystal ones out in the hallway and office

-On his desk, In-ho has an Apple computer monitor, matte gray,  some binders and files to his right while he faces said monitor (against the door wall), and a small grayscale globe - to his left of the monitor, a small gray-shaded desk lamp which glows warmly, a selection of maybe five thick books held up by bookends, a black tissue box, an organizer tray which holds, curiously, poker chips, an organizer cup holding a couple pens and a pair of computer glasses (!!! guys In-ho wears computer glasses!! Glasses In-ho!!), and a small (hand-height) silver statue of a knight in armor (very interesting - maybe it's 457 brainrot but could that symbolize the "white knight" Gi-hun?)

-His bedding is velvet silver-gray and his headboard is slatted wood

-On his bedside table are two small black statues of a dog and cat playing (my HEART, he's so lonely), what's likely a rolling tray (with an ash tray and a little container of probably tobacco or something both sitting on it), a blue porcelain incense stick holder, and a black reed scent diffuser - this tells us that In-ho smokes in bed and likes incense and Nice Smells a lot which I find so endearing

-The door to the basement archives is across from his bedroom door, in the corner between the desk and bed

thinking about this scene where Gi-hun dreamed about the Front Man and

1.) how did Gi-hun know how the Front Man looked like when he never saw him before? (the part where Jun-ho described to him about how Front Man wore a mask was after the dream)

2.) I know it was a dream and anything could happen so this is just a silly thought but if both of Front Man’s hands were full here, how did he press Gi-hun’s doorbell? repeatedly.

because it’d be awkward if Gi-hun opened the door to Front Man with one of his legs all the way up trying to press that doorbell with the tip of his shoe.
