It is pretty clear the show was telling us that Gi-hun felt suspicious that Sang-woo knew about the dalgona game right after the game ended. However, at that time, I personally think he trusted that not to be true—that Sang-woo really didn’t know and just was nervous about the game. It was kind of a leap of faith for him. It makes sense for Gi-hun knowing his beliefs in people. ( But even if he accepted it fully that Sang-woo deliberately didn’t tell him, he already forgave him. )
But once he realized the kind of person the games made Sang-woo, thats when he knew Sang-woo purposefully kept it from him. As @degenerata69 said in their fic, him choosing “triangle” was basically a petty way of saying “i know what you did.”
Thats another reason Gi-hun wanting to end the games and go home with Sang-woo has such a big impact on me. He was forgiving Sang-woo for everything from the beginning. He felt that Sang-woo was still naturally good even when Sang-woo did him and everyone else wrong.

The scene of Sang-woo standing around looking guilty when he’s giving the guard his triangle in dalgona cracks me up bc he gives the energy of a dog that can’t look his owner in the eye after doing something he knows is bad
NO NO,, UR RIGHT.... UR 100% RIGHT....
HES SO DISAPPOINTED IN HIMSELF 💔
okay but in all seriousness though, i stand by the idea that through the entire time he carved that triangle, his hands were shaking; his stomach nauseated, and his mind was full of nothing but guilt and what-ifs.
perhaps that's why such an easy shape took him a bit longer.

oh my god…. can you imagine how many fucked up things gihun would be into because of everything hes been through?
like impact/pain play… enjoying being hit because some wires in his brain got crossed so now he enjoys the violence.
just i imagine him asking sang woo or in ho to hit him…
with sang woo is makes a ton of sense because he took many hits from him, so now to cope he wants it BAD just in a different context of course. and sang woo, when asked, is SHOCKED. but i feel like he’d be willing to do a lot for gi hun. but i also think it would scare him.
and with in ho… dear god. ill let you comment on that one. i think maybe hed also be into that, and wouldnt feel scared at all. in fact i bet he would see that coming. hed know gi hun would be into some fucked up shit.
(btw impact play isnt messed up as long as its consensual but you know the reasons behind his need for it are.)
i hope unintelligiblezombienoisses sees this too
-💫
@unintelligiblezombienoises you are being summoned! 🙏
gihun trying to get over the pain these men caused him by having these same men hurt him is actually a god tier concept omg 😩🤧
because now it's with his permission. he wants them to hurt him. he isn't going to be caught off-guard or be surprised or betrayed. he knows it's coming and he's prepared for it. it's on his terms, and so, in his head, it's okay now.
inho would both like to hit him and would despise it. the dark, depraved side of him - the side that stood and watched as hundreds of ppl died - would enjoy it. would enjoy seeing gihun get hurt under his hand, would like the power it gives him, the high of having gihun vulnerable under him and willing to take anything inho gives him.
on another hand, i think inho would be scared, like sangwoo, but he's be scared of taking it too far. he's too comfortable with violence. who is to say that he won't hurt gihun, once, twice, and by the third he isn't leaving deep bruises that takes weeks to disappear? or who's to say that gihun won't say the wrong thing and inho will set off like a bomb and actually genuinely hurt gihun?
it's such a balancing act. enough but not too much. enough that gihun is satisfied but not too much that the pain is the only thing he feels.
also, i hard agree on sangwoo being scared but doing it for gihun. it's not exactly his cup of tea, and he does enjoy smacking gihun in the ass occasionally, but what he is asking is something that sangwoo isn't into. he does it for gihun but gihun can see that he isn't comfortable and stops.

Depressing Sangihun thought of the day:
In the years between S1 and S2, Gi-Hun researched the hotel where Sang-Woo stayed. Let's say everything was left untouched, so the messy room, the cigarettes, the empty bottles of soju, the bathtub left with undrained water, and the stove next to it was all in there, as an evidence of what Sang-Woo went thru before returning to the games. Two notes were left behind, one was wrinkled next to a trashcan, and the other was neatly placed on a desk, right next to his glasses.
The wrinkled was a suicide letter, apologizing for everything he did that led him to that place, especially apologizing to his mother for being a failure and dragging her into his crimes.
The neatly letter explained he was brought another opportunity to fix his mistakes, and might dissappear in the attempt. He explains all the details he knew about the first game but didn't expect anyone to believe him. If he doesn't come back, it would be because he failed at the attempt. If he did come back, he would fix his mistakes. But won't stay for long either, as he didn't see any purpose, even if he had the chance to start over.
Gi-Hun took everything with him, his suits, personal items, and his glasses. Hoarding everything into a room, but his glasses. He kept those in the nightstand beside his bed, staring at it for long hours.

Currently not able to deal with the fact that Park Hae-soo is like 2cm taller than Lee Jung-jae which means Sang-woo is just the tiniest bit taller than Gi-hun and I really don't quite know what to do with that information but it's stuck inside my brain now and it won't leave
#like#i really do love that they're almost the same height (the characters!!!)#cause while height differences are really cute a ship where they both have the same height is so appealing to me#like they can look each other in the eyes and are on the same level and mouths are same height yk that kinda stuff :3#yea#but then like sangwoo is still just the smallest bit taller#and i LOVE that!!!!#anyways i will definetly try to add that hwight defference in my art but also you probably won't notice cause it's so small#anywayssss <3#lea's random thoughts#squid game#seong gi hun#cho sang woo#not tagging the actors cause this post is really not about them#sangihun#674

it actually pisses me off when people think shippers are as dumb as rocks.
“shippers mischaracterize the characters and twists canon so they can ship this ship. they don’t have feelings for each other and never will.”
ok and? what do you think shipping is? you can do these things and still understand the original content at hand. and shipping always changes canon.. that is the point of shipping. and you also have to tweak the characters a bit since they most likely were never in love in the show. of course we know this.
“this ship is toxic! you guys are putting characters together that would never willingly want to be together. one character actively hates/hurts/betrays the other!”
thats why we ship it dude. we know its toxic and we like it. that, or we know the characters could learn to forgive and/or love each other. humans always have enjoyed toxic shit. im sorry youre new to fandom and the world. 💀

Here's an idea I had a long time ago but just remembered now..
VIPs make sangihun do it
Basically during the final game Sangwoo does take Gihun's hand and also they kiss because fuck it they almost killed each other and it just comes out. So the games end not only without them getting the money but also technically without a winner. Inho is intrigued and kinda jealous. The VIPs aren't happy though but the rules are what they are so they can't really force them to keep playing, but they tell Inho to make Sangwoo and Gihun an offer
If they play a nonlethal bonus game (aka they fuck in front of them with probably some degree of s/m because they're sadists) they'll at least get *some* money and neither of them has to die and the VIPs get a show, win/win
Also I forgot Ilnam would still be alive and watching at this point idk what his opinion on this would be but who cares hahaha

this sounds so evil, i love it 💖💖💖
one of the first fics i read for squid game was an omegaverse fic where the vips drugged gihun and sangwoo to get them into a heat and rut during the last game!
gihun and sangwoo having a bdsm session is actually so delicious to me.... and they do it bc they both need money, even if it's just a fraction of the total prize.
their first time being in front of a bunch of sleazy men 😭
and they both enjoy it, particularly the s/m aspect but are both disgusted in themselves bc they think the other was in pain. and then they discover that yes, gihun likes to be hurt and yes, sangwoo likes to hurt him.

It's certainly interesting to think about the fact that Gi-Hun and Sang-Woo envied one another.
While it might be obvious to see why Gi-Hun would envy Sang-Woo given his credentials; Pride and joy of Ssangmun-dong, top of his class, SNU buisness graduate, valedictorian, etc. It might not be as obvious to think what Sang-Woo envy Gi-Hun for.
I think the answers relies on what society considers a "successful man"
This is usually measured by these factors: finances, career and family.
While certainly on a superficial level, Sang-Woo reach far greater than Gi-Hun in terms of career and finances, Gi-Hun had a title that Sang-Woo didn't.
Husband and father.
They shared the experience of both having success in their careers and having that taken away from them, and their finances were fucked over because of it.
But, unlike Sang-Woo, Gi-Hun was a "complete" man. Even though they both "failed," Gi-Hun had a daughter that would thrive regardless of the bad decisions he made. His legacy would live regardless if he had a career or not.
Sang-Woo only had himself and his achievements, and he lost everything.
Even though he seems quite disinterested with the idea of having a girlfriend (more than likely he is a closeted gay man) it's the fact that Gi-Hun build something everlasting, even if it didn't require any special titles. Just the will and the love.
If instead of reaching for something beyond his league as it is to become a multimillionaire, he focused on the "small and trivial" things, he might have built something of importance, something that wouldn't die along with him.
He envy the fact that Gi-Hun, with the contrasting careless attitude, could build that for himself. Could be materially more successful than he is.
