💙 anon here with smth NOT InterWant Au BUTTTT hold on i promise youll love this!! anyways i saw i think on twitter abt an au where during Gihun and the loan sharks' hunt for the recruiter, Mr Kim and Wooseok instead encounter a DIFFERENT recruiter, who just so happens to be, drum roll pls, DO-KYUN!!! like AHHHH god i need it sooooo bad 🤤 Gihun meeting this different recruiter, who is just as tall and well-dressed as the man who gave him the card, but this one seems softer in a sense, willing to speak freely with Gihun in exchange for such simple things like time together. he seems broken other times, held together at the seams by his own fractured faith in the sanctity of the Games. eventually, he tells Gihun that he'll join him, dedicate himself to the cause. what he doesn't tell Gihun is this: he could not care less about bringing the Games down, could not care less about the lives of the other men Gihun has recruited in his mission, and he is not dedicating himself to Gihun's mission but to Gihun himself, who burns so brightly despite the world trying to stamp out the flames of his humanity. Gihun is perfect, and Do-kyun will do anything for the man who has brought light back into his life.

omg dokyun being dedicated to gihun himself and not his mission is such a good touch!! and he is so hyperfocused on making sure gihun is safe and sound, that he is eating and sleeping, not smoking as much. gihun might not take care of himself but dokyun is there to make sure he's as healthy as possible.

More about the AU in which Saebyeok has a strained bond, being cold towards Inho (because he's the stepfather. She misses Sangwoo a lot.)

I can imagine both of them trying to make an effort after a conversation they had with Gihun, but things are still a bit awkward. So it does get very quiet whenever she's around Inho. Not the good kind... There's no relationship being formed.

That is until one evening she's on her way home from college, a gang of lowlives not doing anything better with their lives decide to pester her and threaten her for money. Saebyeok can hold her own. She has a knife in her pocket, but there are too many of the guys circling her. They're getting closer, trying to touch her, provoke her. She thinks to stab just one of them and make a run for it maybe it will be the best way to-

A sleek black car stops in front of the alleyway. Inho steps out, composed as always, but if you look into his eyes there is rage on the level of thousand burning suns. Of course, the guys underestimate him and think of him as a senile old man trying to look cool, too bad when one of them tries to grab Inho they get flung into the air. A punch lands on the other. They're getting thrown to the ground within seconds. Every one of them either gets a broken arm, a broken nose, black eye... or all of the above.

After this, Inho makes the ruffians to stand in a row and bow deeply to apologize to Saebyeok. And also for being a menace to society. They promised they won't do it again or else they know that Inho will find out where they live. Saebyeok gets her lick in by kicking one of them in the groin before accepting their apology.

After the gang of misfits limped away, Saebyeok felt so... cherished. Appreciated. The man her mother married holds her in such great respect and high regards, even if it's only been months since he moved in with them. She already means a lot to Inho... He protected her and stood up for her, like fathers are supposed to do... Saebyeok doesn't have enough words to describe how grateful she is. Inho ruffles her hair and tells her that time to go home, Gihun is waiting.

The car ride started out with silence at first, until an acoustic song played on the radio. Turns out, both Inho and Saebyeok are fans of the artist. That's when conversations flowed freely, as if there never was an ice wall between them. They found out more about each other during the ride. They didn't stop talking even if they reached home, taking their shoes off in the hallway. Gihun looked up in pure surprise (and joy!), just what happened that made the two of them to become so close all of a sudden?

Ah, well. Gihun is just glad they're finally getting along. His dear daughter, and his beloved husband, bonding with each other. He was so afraid that everything would fall apart, or that they would drift away but oh what a pleasant reveal... Gihun feels so relieved. Inho greets him with putting his hands on Gihun's waist and a soft kiss. Saebyeok has had enough physical touch for the day so she waves hello. When they eat dinner, it's so lively and the atmosphere is warmer than ever <3 The End~

It really bothers me when people act like Gihun's gambling addiction is his core personality trait, like he's been gambling for his whole life. His addiction is a coping mechanism born from financial stress caused by losing his 16-years job (due to the fault of upper management) and 2 failed business attempts after that, coupled with the trauma from the strike. He was a pretty normal guy with a stable job and a family until he got screwed over by the system and felt victim to the gambling industry that's designed to prey on poor people

one-sided canon inhun is so delicious

gihun falling in love with "youngil" but not being able to love inho. not matter how much he might want to, he can't get past all of the things inho has done, all the bad blood between them, all the history. inho is responsible, even if indirectly, for taking away the lives of some of the people gihun loved most. and gihun can't forgive that, he can't forget.

inho falling in love with gihun, despite their differences, but, in a sense, wanting him to be meaner, more bitter, more jaded. he wants gihun to agree with him that humanity is doomed and people are selfish, but if gihun doesn't, then inho wants him soft and hopeful just so he can break him himself. he will be responsible for gihun's pain and suffering, even though he loves him (if only to justify to himself that he is truly beyond saving).

The forced marriage AU has me picturing a tied up Gi-hun pre ceremony, shuddering as In-ho carefully applies makeup to his face.
