now, onto fluffy found family hcs!!

no matter how busy they are, the family always sits down to have at least one meal together. whether it's at the actual dinner table or just sitting around the sofas to eat takeout food or a quick lunch between errands. gihun and inho make that into a rule very early on and the kids all respect it and love it; being able to sit down and chat is something they all love.

gihun's kids have a habit of finding him in the middle of the day and just telling or showing him whatever is on their minds - minsu, his shyest baby, has gathered up the courage to finally share his book interests with gihun so now he comes up to gihun and tells him abt the most recent chapters he read; cheol always rambles abt the new superhero comic he's been into; subong shows him brainrot; semi updates him on her gaming news and how her and mina are doing; jiyeong always talks abt the newest movie premiere; junhee shows him her newest crochet creations; daeho gets super excited abt showing gihun a new rock he found on the pavement; gayeong explains how she's practicing a new kpop choreography and how she wants to have makeover to look exactly like her fav idol; and saebyeok, his quietest baby, usually just stands next to gihun and occasionally will tell him abt how she saw someone trip down the stairs at college.

gihun and inho always cuddle as they fall asleep, but gihun is a restless sleeper so they end up separating during the night. once in a while, inho will wake up to one of their kids crawling into their bed and snuggling between them (he is a very light sleeper due to his years in the force).

jiyeong loves photography and inho ends up asking her to teach him some of her tricks so that he can take pictures of gihun. he sometimes worries that, if something happens, they won't have any photos of each other, but now he can make sure that gihun will always have a piece of inho and vice versa. inho does create a separate album, way from the kids, where he puts more intimate photos of gihun 😌

gayeong and cheol are asked to make a project about a person whom they admire (let's pretend ppl actually do this and its not just a usamerican movie thing) and they choose gihun and inho. does gihun get super teary eyed when he finds out? yes. does inho have to clear his throat and blink rapidly to chase away the urge to cry? also yes. their reaction is nearly enough to make gayeong and cheol regret it lol.

sometimes, gihun goes through a rougher period where his depression really kicks his ass. he gets spacey, staring at the walls for a long time. he becomes lethargic and doesn't smile as much. it worries everyone but inho always makes sure to take care of him while keeping the kids away; they shouldn't have to see gihun like this. but they all insist on helping. they plug every hole that gihun's fragile mental state creates: they go grocery shopping and cook some of the meals, make sure they each have what they need for the day, clean up the house... but most importantly, they always make sure gihun knows how much they love and cherish him, how grateful they are that he is in their lives, how they can't imagine anyone other than him being their mom. (inho always makes sure to thank them, after. he couldn't bear to lose gihun and he knows how much the kids help in making sure he doesn't drown in the darkness.)

i've rubbed shoulders with staff in the industry as someone from a country similar to sk in this regard and everyone understands how it works and that whatever info is announced to the public doesn't mean shit, lmao. there's a very, very famous celebrity where i'm from, famous enough to have made appearances in western media, who has been in a 10+ year old marriage to another very famous woman, has more than one kid, declared his love to to said woman who's been branded as his soulmate on many occasions, has had a ladies' man reputation throughout his career and, well. everyone in the industry knows he's 100% gay, doesn't like women like that at all which he's open about when the cameras don't roll, has been just friends with every woman he's been publicly linked with and has had a string of messy relationships with a shitload of men, some of them problematic enough that i actually wish there was a space to talk about it without attracting the "but he's straight" crowd. those lavender relationships of his weren't even miserable, the women also benefitted from being linked to someone this high-profile, everyone won. still, he has fans arguing there's no way he could be not straight because look, wife and kids, ladies' man, all that.

it's just how pr works and whether or not that applies to jj's case (or anyone involved, for that matter), it is very much a thing and i'm half-convinced the whole "y'all just want xyz to be gay" thing is a psyop because ain't no way in hell people think being open about one's sexuality translates into anything but praise from fandom-oriented teenagers/young adults on social media 😭 there are plenty openly gay/bi celebrities, both western and from conservative areas, that have talked about how it affected their careers, especially considering conservatism is on the rise everywhere right now, even in the west. outside of the queer fandom bubble on the internet, it's a huge risk all around (sometimes legal, there are countries that are retroactively criminalizing being lgbt and i personally know of a few people from those who have had to flee their country due to that), so it's understandable why many people do not want to take it. heartbreaking, but it is what it is.

with that said, more on the subject: as someone who's been interested in korean media for a long time, there are approximately two high-profile celebrities in their 40s on my radar who have made it as clear as possible they're not into women (both with huge "marry me" female fanbases) and have never been linked to any woman publicly. two is... a very minuscule amount of people, lmao, so either there's no more gay celebrities or everyone else is just better at flying under the radar. i'd bet on the second option

Sometimes I get a terrible feeling about the American spin-off. I feel like they're gonna bring Gi-hun back in the cheapest, most soap opera-like way possible.

Don't get me wrong, I love Gi-hun, and I would love for him to have survived the fall, but realistically, surviving that fall isn't plausible. Had he jumped feet first, it would have been a lot less cinematic, but the chances of surviving would have been higher. The way he fell, his head hit the ground first.

I feel like Netflix, unlike HDH, is a lot more influenced by what fans are saying online, given that their top priority is profit and not the integrity of the story. So I wouldn't be surprised if in the spin-off, Gi-hun was saved by a VIP and was in a coma until the start of the story, just like in those popular AI videos that are all over the internet.

And since another very popular theory was Gi-hun becoming the Frontman, I feel like they might be making him the Frontman in the American games.

So yeah, my worst nightmare is that they're gonna ruin Gi-hun's character like only money-hungry, greedy corporations know how to do 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
