GUYS, I HAD A "RECOGNIZING A VOICE ACTOR" MOMENT

So, you know how people make those videos where they're watching a new show and they suddenly realize that a character is voiced by a common/famous VA like Bryce Papenbrook or Matt Mercer?

I think I sort of just had that. And it legit blew my mind.

Last weekend, I was watching the new season of Squid Games with my older brother in the English Dub (I know people give it a lot of grief, but we do that because it's easier than reading the subtitles and I actually like it as much as the original).

We were watching the first episode of Season 2, and toward the end of the episode, while Seong Gi-hun (the main character) was talking for a while, I was suddenly hit with a "wait, hold on, the English voice actor for him sounds familiar). So I pulled out my phone and quickly Google the English dubbing cast.

And you know who I found was voicing Gi-hun?

Greg Chun

And do you know who Greg Chun voices in Demon Slayer?

Muzan Kibutsuji

Muzan FREAKING Kibutsuji

The moment I made that realization, the following conversation happened:

Me: Oh my god.

Older Brother: What?

Me: I recognize Gi-hun's English VA.

OB: Really? Who?

Me: (Pulls up a picture of Muzan and holds out my phone to him.)

OB: (Looks up and frowns at the picture. On the TV, Gi-hun says something in a low voice while he is having that confrontation with that person right before the first episode ends. OB's eyes widen.)

OB: Oh my god no way!

PSA on Writing Stories Inspired by Mine

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to make a small PSA about something important.

Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of fanfics being made based on CFLDF. I am so honored and touched that my fanfic has impacted many of you and inspired some to even start writing your own stories. Whenever I get the notification that another work has been inspired by mine, I will always read them, and I always love them so much! So thank you guys so much for that!

That being said, however, I have been noticing that some fanfics have started to copy my work word for word.

Let me be clear: I have absolutely NO PROBLEM if writers use a couple of similar ideas that I used in my fic (such as Nezuko’s tests to become a student/be allowed to join Final Selection, her being a Thunder Breather with Kuwajima/Kaigaku mentoring, having any member of the Squad be her friend/part of the new story’s squad, etc.).

However, copying entire chapters of my work and swapping out characters/editing a few parts of the story by changing wording or adding minor sections/paragraphs is not something I’m comfortable with. Especially if I find that EVERY story element from my piece is being copied. 

I’m flattered by the support for my work and the inspiration it has allowed, but at this time, that level of copying is not something I’m comfortable with.

(For the three fanfics that are currently tagged at the end of CFLDF - you guys are 100% fine! So don’t stress about this!)

I hope I’m not sounding too harsh about this, but this is one of the few boundaries I have and would like to keep moving forward. I apologize if it offends or hurts anyone, but this is just to protect my own writing and prevent any sort of plagiarism.

If anyone has any questions or is unsure, please don’t be afraid to message me. Like I said, as long as it’s not entire chapters posted word for word of my work, then there’s no need to worry.

Despite how much 2025 is a year I was initially not looking forward to, I decided I want to make the most out of it. I am going to focus more on my writing, find better ways to take care of my mental health and try new things that I've been hesitating about pursuing.

I know that the list above is quite packed and I'm not the best at accomplishing my goals on time, but I will do my best to tackle as much on this list as possible. At the moment, CFLDF Book One is my top priority, so once I finish that, everything else will begin to fall into place.

If you guys have any questions about what's above (whether it be asking for more info on a fic I will be working on or wanting to know more about one of my goals), please don't be afraid to send me an ask anytime, even months later. I love answering questions and knowing that you guys are interested in what I have planned!

Also, if you just have questions about me in general (especially with my interests or with what's currently going on in my life), as long as it's not asking for personal information, I'm more than happy to answer those as well!

Finally, thank you so much for all of your endless support. To the people who have sent me fanart, sent asks/commented theories about my stories here, or left comments sharing your love on my fics, those have meant the world to me and never failed to make my day! To the people who have silently read my work (whether they have been here since the first chapter or have just started reading), thank you for your support and for coming back for every chapter! I never imagined that I would finally get to say that I will complete my very first serious fanfic this year, and I can't wait to see where this journey will take me next!

Though my goal was to have the first book finished by the end of this year, I’m excited to know that despite the delays, it will DEFINITELY be finished before the end of 2025!

***This is not a solidified swap, but I have ideas on handling their specific swap. These are only very early ideas (and I do have a possible route I think I will probably do in the swap that I can explain if anyone is interested), BUT given how much of a heavy topic their relationship with each other and their children is, I want to do this right and be respectful of the topic. So, if anyone has any ideas or recommendations on how to best portray that swap, let me know.

Hi! I’m just curious, what does your writing process look like, from say outlining to the final draft of a chapter (and do you have any writing tips)?

HI I'M SO SORRY I TOOK FOREVER TO RESPOND! I hope you're doing well!

I got a similar ask to this a while ago, and I'll link it here.

But since I've been writing for a while, my process has changed a bit since then (especially when it comes to fic writing).

If I know exactly how I want the chapter to go:

I'll usually just write as I go without an outline, especially if it's essentially paralleling what's happening in the canon anime/manga.

I typically won't stress too much about making mistakes or if the scene I wrote is something I'm not happy with, so I won't try and rewrite things until I have the entire chapter written.

If I don't have the entire chapter planned out:

I'll usually start with a bullet-list outline of the stuff I know I want to include, and then go back and fill in the spaces in-between as I get ideas.

I'll start writing the scenes I have planned out, and then as I keep writing, go back to the missing parts.

(Both processes typically end with me doing one or two read-throughs of the chapter once I finish making sure there are no spelling mistakes or awkward phrasings/scenes - it also helps that I do them the day after I finish the rough draft of the chapter, just so I can look at it with fresh eyes)

As you can probably tell, writing AU original chapters take an ungodly amount of time because usually, when I decide to write one, I make the decision with typically only a few scenes in mind.

For example, with Chapter 25 (minor spoilers for those who haven't read it yet), I knew what I wanted the Nezuko POV scenes to be (talking with Kyogai and discovering Tanjiro in the garden), the letter writing scene to look like, and a moment when Genya tried to report the Kamados. But everything else? I had to sit down and stew over them for a few days (and even ask for a little outside help/feedback) to even think of them. I kid you not, both of the Murata scenes were ones where I was literally planning them as I wrote them lol.

So with those, I had to plan for at least an hour each day to make sure I wrote something for the unplanned scenes. It felt like tedious work at the worst moments, but even when I only got a paragraph done a day, it prevented me from losing steam and momentum.

Ultimately, the best advice I can give is to start with what you know you want and then, little by little each day, work on the unplanned stuff. And then go back and make the changes you need to so everything flows.

As for general writing advice/tips, this is what I recommend:

Always Outline: it helps to keep things organized and gives you a space to layout your initial plans and change/rearrange your ideas as you go.

Make a Doc for Extra Ideas: I literally have one extremely long document I can access from my phone where I dump potential scene ideas/dialogues/character stuff in them. When I get to those chapters/parts of the series, sometimes it helps that I alread had parts of scenes written out or extra info to reference. So if you have a sudden idea, WRITE IT DOWN, even if it's in an app or written in a notebook.

Rewatch Episodes & Reread Manga: If you're having trouble getting a characterization or a scene right, go reread the manga or watch the anime to help you get the details down! Before I write my next chapters, I typically turn on the episode it will parallel and record it on my phone so later, I can slow it down and rewatch it as I write.

Read Other Fanfics: I highly recommend reading other fanfics related to the AU you're writing. If it's a Role-Swap AU, there are tons of story you can check out. Give them a read, and let them help you decide how you want to write your story and portray your characters (this had been a lifesaver for me when I was initially figuring out how I wanted to write Nezuko - seeing the different takes writers had on her helped me decide what I wanted to do for her while resonating with the readers best)

(Of course, this is what I recommend and what has worked for me. Do whatever you feel works best for you and your writing style.)
