Lee let out a cackle, taking one last drag of the joint before handing it to Elisa to finish off. "Fuck yeah. We should get brownies too. Y'know, the pizza place around the corner from here does brownies with sauce in the middle." Revolutionary even when sober, which means for now --
Lee jumped up quicker than a man in his condition should have, rummaging in one of his kitchen drawers for a menu. "Ah!" He held it up like hidden treasure and made his way back over to Elisa to pick, handing it to her with a flourish, "For the lady."
Tumblr media
Elisa snapped her fingers. "Yes, that's exactly it. It's just its own category of good. Yes, I do feel good," she concluded with a dramatic nod of her head.
“Oh, yeah, pizza sounds sooooo good,” said Elisa as she perked up. “We should get it with extra cheese. Oh! Maybe some of that stuffed crust pizza? Can you imagine all that gooey cheese with all that bread? Definitely some sauce too, to dip it in.” She hummed contently, suddenly feeling like she was starved and in desperate need of some food. “

Y/n was settling in for the night after a long shift at the hospital, kicking her feet up on her coffee table with a glass of wine in hand when her usually dead phone vibrated.
Hey, Y/N! 😊 It's Penelope from the BAU. Hope you don't mind me texting! Just thought I'd check in and see how my favorite child psychologist is doing. 🌟
Hey, Penelope! Of course, I don't mind :) I’m doing well, just busy with work as usual. How about you?
Busy saving the world, one computer at a time! 🖥️💪 So, tell me, are you still too busy to date, or have you finally joined us mere mortals in the quest for love? 💘
Haha I guess we’re getting right into it. I suppose I am feeling ready to dip my toes back into the dating pool. But I’ve been avoiding it for a while 😅 Awkward first dates are terrifying!
Ooh, exciting! 🥳 But I totally get the fear. Blind dates can be the worst. You never know if you're going to meet Prince Charming or... well, not. 😬
Exactly! And I've been so focused on my career that I haven't really thought about dating in a while. Plus, all my undergrad flings made me a bit wary of anything serious.
Understandable. Sometimes you just need to have fun, right? But now that you’re settled, maybe it’s time for a change? 😉
Yeah, maybe you're right. I wouldn't mind meeting someone who shares my interests and gets my sense of humor.
OMG, that sounds like a dream. Let me know when you find them and send me one too. 💖
Ha! If I find one I will let you know. How does one even go about meeting new people nowadays?
Well… You remember Rossi, right? He’s having a pasta and wine night at his mansion this Friday at 8 pm!! 🎉
Pasta and wine?? Sounds perfect. Thanks, Penelope! I’ll be there, I appreciate you thinking of me :)
Anytime, Y/N! Can’t wait for you to meet the rest of the team. I’ve got a good feeling about this! 💖✨
The rest of the team? Y/n thought to herself. She had assumed she met everyone already when she went for drinks with Aaron and the team. Maybe they added a new member. Regardless, she's excited to do three of her favorite things, eat pasta, drink wine, and let rich people pay for everything.
The evening sun dipped below the horizon, casting a soft glow over David Rossi’s expansive estate. Nestled in the Virginia countryside, the elegant home exuded both charm and sophistication, a perfect reflection of its owner. The team arrived one by one, greeted by the welcoming scent of freshly baked bread and simmering marinara sauce that wafted through the air, promising a feast of Italian delights.
As Y/n stepped into the house, they were embraced by the warm ambiance of the living room, where a crackling fire in the stone fireplace added a cozy touch. The room was tastefully decorated with leather-bound books, framed photographs, and art pieces that told stories of Rossi’s travels and experiences. Soft jazz music played in the background, the soothing melodies mingling with the lively chatter of the guests.
The dining room was a vision of elegance, with a long mahogany table set for the evening's festivities. Flickering candlelight danced across the table, casting a gentle glow on the polished silverware and delicate china. Each place setting was thoughtfully arranged, complete with fine crystal wine glasses waiting to be filled with Rossi’s carefully curated selection of wines.
On the far side of the room, a sideboard displayed an array of antipasti: olives, cured meats, marinated vegetables, and various cheeses artfully arranged on rustic wooden boards. A large bouquet of fresh flowers served as the centerpiece, adding a splash of color and vibrancy to the room.
The kitchen bustled with activity as Rossi, ever the gracious host, put the finishing touches on a variety of homemade pasta dishes. Large pots simmered on the stove, the fragrant aroma of garlic and herbs filling the air. A pan of lasagna bubbled in the oven, its cheese topping perfectly golden brown. Fresh basil and parsley were sprinkled generously over platters of spaghetti aglio e olio and creamy fettuccine alfredo, each dish a testament to Rossi’s culinary skills and passion for Italian cuisine.
In the adjoining patio, strings of fairy lights twinkled overhead, providing a magical canopy under which the team could relax and unwind. Comfortable seating areas were arranged to encourage conversation, and a small fire pit offered warmth as the evening grew cooler. The gentle rustle of leaves and the distant chirping of crickets added a serene backdrop to the lively gathering.
The evening at Rossi’s house was in full swing. The room was alive with laughter and conversation, and the clinking of glasses mingled with the soft strains of jazz music. The warm glow from the fireplace and the dim lighting created a cozy, inviting atmosphere that wrapped the team in a sense of comfort and camaraderie.
As the doorbell rang, David straightened his jacket and moved toward the entrance with a welcoming smile. He opened the door to reveal Y/N, who stood on the threshold, looking radiant in her deep green dress that highlighted her curves and complemented her confident demeanor.
“Y/N! Welcome!” Rossi exclaimed, stepping aside to usher her into the house. His voice was warm and genuine, filled with the kind of hospitality that made his guests feel immediately at home. “I’m so glad you could make it. We’ve been looking forward to this evening.”
Y/N’s face brightened with a warm smile as she stepped inside. “Thank you, David. I’m excited to be here. The house looks wonderful.”
Rossi gave a hearty laugh. “It’s all thanks to the amazing team I have. Let me introduce you to everyone.”
With a graceful wave of his hand, Rossi guided Y/N into the living room, where the BAU team had gathered. The room buzzed with the energy of friends reconnecting after a long day. Rossi’s arrival with Y/N caught the attention of the group, and they turned to greet her with friendly smiles and nods.
Spencer, who had been deep in a conversation with Derek about a recent case, felt a shift in the atmosphere. His gaze followed Rossi and Y/N as they entered, his attention abruptly captured.
Spencer’s breath hitched slightly as he took in Y/N’s presence. The warm lighting seemed to highlight her natural beauty, and the graceful way she moved across the room was both captivating and disorienting. The rest of the team offered her friendly waves and greetings, but Spencer was fixated on her, his curiosity piqued.
Hotch, noticing Spencer’s focused attention, decided it was time for introductions. He approached Spencer with a friendly, knowing smile and gestured toward Y/N.
“Spencer,” Hotch began, his tone calm and reassuring, “I’d like you to meet Y/N.”
Spencer turned to face Hotch, his heart racing a bit. Hotch continued, “Y/N, this is Spencer Reid. He’s one of our most brilliant team members here at the BAU.”
Y/N extended her hand with a warm, welcoming smile. “Hi, Spencer. It’s nice to finally meet you. I’ve heard so much about you.”
God, even her voice is beautiful.
Spencer, momentarily taken aback, felt a flutter of nerves as he took her hand. “Hi, Y/N. It’s, uh, nice to meet you too. I’ve heard a lot about you as well,” he replied, his voice tinged with both shyness and genuine interest.
Y/N’s gaze was kind and her smile reassuring, making Spencer feel more at ease. “I hope it’s all been good,” she said with a playful glint in her eye.
Spencer managed a small, tight lipped smile, as he tucked his hair behind one ear and his nerves started to settle. “Definitely,” he replied, feeling a warmth that contrasted with his usual social anxiety.
Y/N leaned in slightly, her eyes meeting Spencer’s with a genuine curiosity. “So, Spencer,” she began, her tone light and engaging, “what’s one thing you’re passionate about outside of work?”
Spencer’s eyes lit up as he considered her question. “Well, I’m really into chess,” he admitted. “I’ve been playing since I was a kid. It’s a great way to exercise the mind and challenge myself.”
Y/N’s smile widened. “I didn’t know that. I used to play chess with my grandfather when I was younger. It’s a fascinating game. Do you have a favorite opening strategy?”
Spencer’s face brightened, and he leaned in a bit more, his enthusiasm evident. “Yes! I’m a big fan of the Queen’s Gambit. It’s a classic and very versatile. What about you?”
Y/N’s eyes sparkled as she shared her own chess experiences. The conversation continued, the two finding common ground and enjoying each other’s company.
Hotch observed the interaction with a pleased expression, satisfied with the introduction. He stepped back, allowing Spencer and Y/N to continue their conversation. The team resumed their chatter, though the undercurrent of excitement about the new connection was palpable.
The evening had progressed into a more relaxed phase as the team retreated to Rossi’s lush backyard. The gentle clinking of glasses and the murmur of conversation blended with the soft rustling of leaves in the warm night breeze. The group had moved outside after enjoying a sumptuous Italian feast prepared by Rossi and Penelope, and now they were settling into comfortable chairs and sofas, each with a glass of wine in hand.
Spencer, still a bit on edge but feeling slightly more at ease, had decided to join in on the wine, especially since Y/N had done the same. The rich, full-bodied wine paired perfectly with the after-dinner atmosphere, adding to the relaxed ambiance of the evening.
Derek, always the instigator of fun, leaned back in his chair with a mischievous grin. “Alright, everyone, I think it’s time for a game. How about a round of ‘Never Have I Ever’?” He looked around the circle with a gleam in his eye, clearly excited about the prospect of the game.
Emily raised an eyebrow playfully. “Oh, this should be interesting. Let’s see who’s willing to spill some secrets tonight.”
Y/N looked intrigued but a bit hesitant. “Sounds fun. I’m game.”
The group settled into a comfortable rhythm as Derek began the game. “Okay, I’ll start. Never have I ever... gone skydiving.”
A few people sipped their wine, including Emily and Rossi. “Guilty as charged,” Rossi said with a chuckle. “Skydiving is quite the adrenaline rush.”
Y/N, who had taken a sip, smiled and said, “I’ve always wanted to try it, but never had the chance.”
Spencer, still holding his glass, observed the interactions with a mix of curiosity and caution. He had never played this game before, not having ever been invited to parties in high school or college, and while he was intrigued, he wasn’t sure how much he was ready to reveal about himself.
JJ leaned forward, looking at Y/N with a grin. “Okay, your turn. What’s something we’d never expect from you?”
Y/N thought for a moment, then laughed softly. “Alright, never have I ever... been to a strip club.”
This time, the whole team, including Penelope, sipped their wine. “Oh, I mean we all have been on multiple occasions for a case,” Penelope admitted with a grin. “It’s a rite of passage.”
Spencer watched Y/N closely, noticing how easily she blended with the group, her laughter and easy demeanor making her approachable. He found himself feeling more comfortable, the game serving as a welcome distraction from his usual reservations.
As the game continued, Derek took his turn. “Never have I ever... gone on a blind date.”
Spencer, who had been carefully sipping his wine, hesitated for a moment before taking a sip. He caught Y/N’s eye and saw her smile warmly. “Well, that’s a new one for me,” she said, clearly amused.
Hotch, enjoying the playful banter, decided to chime in. “I think it’s safe to say that a lot of us have had some interesting experiences with blind dates.”
The game continued with a mix of laughter, surprises, and the occasional sip of wine. As it came around to Spencer’s turn, he took a deep breath, deciding to take a small risk. “Never have I ever... read all the books in a series before the final book was released.”
Y/N’s eyes widened in surprise, and she laughed. “Oh, I’m guilty of that too. I get too impatient for the next installment.”
Spencer felt a small spark of connection, his nerves easing as he realized they shared a common interest. “It’s the only way to avoid spoilers,” he said with a smile.
The conversation flowed easily as the game progressed, with everyone sharing stories and bonding over their revelations. Spencer found himself more relaxed, the warmth of the wine and the easygoing nature of the game creating an environment where he could be himself.
The group settled into their seats even more lubricated with wine, ready for the real revelations. Derek went first, his tone playful. “Never have I ever... been to a nightclub and partied until dawn.”
Y/N, Emily, Penelope and Derek took a sip, with Emily laughing. “Oh, I’ve done that more times than I can count. Nothing like a night out on the town to blow off some steam.”
Spencer seemed slightly more at ease with each revelation. “I’ve never been to one of those. It sounds like an experience.”
The game continued with more revealing questions. Emily, with a mischievous glint in her eye, asked, “Never have I ever... had a one-night stand.”
Spencer was visibly surprised when Y/N took a sip. Y/N gave a small, slightly embarrassed smile. “It’s a part of life’s experiences, but I guess I’ve been more focused on my career lately.”
Spencer nodded, a hint of understanding in his eyes. He was keenly aware of the fact that he was still a virgin, and while he wanted to connect with Y/N on a deeper level, he found himself struggling. She had undoubtedly had more romantic and physical experiences than he had. The thought that someone as stunning and sophisticated as Y/N would be interested in a novice like him seemed almost inconceivable. He was trying hard not to let his insecurities cloud his mood. The way she smelled—like a wet dream—was both intoxicating and overwhelming. Her laughter, so genuine and carefree, only accentuated the gulf between them. Spencer tried to shake off the discomfort, reminding himself to stay engaged.
Derek, sensing the shift in the conversation and relishing the opportunity to provoke more personal revelations, threw out another provocative prompt. “Never have I ever... gone on a vacation just for the sake of hooking up with someone.”
Penelope and Emily took a sip, with Penelope letting out a soft laugh. “Sometimes you just need to get away and see where the night takes you,” she said, a playful glint in her eye.
Y/N, now visibly more at ease and enjoying the shared camaraderie, leaned in slightly, her voice carrying a teasing edge. “I’ve always found travel is more about the sights than the romance. But I suppose the adventure can include a little... spontaneous connection,” she said, letting her words linger with a hint of allure. Her gaze flicked towards Spencer briefly, a subtle challenge in her eyes.
Spencer felt a slight flush creeping up his neck as he realized Y/N’s playful comment was not lost on him. The conversation had taken a decidedly more personal turn. “I’ve never really mixed vacation with... personal pursuits,” he admitted, his tone tinged with shyness. The idea of combining travel with romantic endeavors seemed foreign and somewhat intimidating.
As the game continued, the topics grew more intense and revealing. Rossi, with a knowing smile and a glint of mischief, asked, “Never have I ever... been in a relationship where both partners had different kinks.”
Everyone, even Hotch, took a sip, with Rossi adding, “Sometimes those differences can make things... particularly exciting.”
Y/N, engaging more openly with the group, nodded thoughtfully. Her eyes sparkled as she spoke. “It’s definitely something that can add a layer of complexity to a relationship,” she said, her voice taking on a more intimate tone. “It’s all about finding that balance and exploring what truly works for both partners.”
Spencer, taking a sip and feeling the warmth of the wine begin to loosen his nerves, found himself caught between curiosity and shyness. “It sounds like navigating those differences can be... challenging,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. His gaze remained fixed on Y/N, trying to read the subtle nuances in her expressions. The vulnerability she displayed in her words made her even more intriguing.
Y/N’s smile widened slightly, a mix of empathy and flirtation in her gaze. “It can be, but it’s also part of what makes relationships interesting,” she said, her voice soft but laced with a suggestive undertone. She met Spencer’s eyes with a confident yet gentle look, as if inviting him to share more of his thoughts.
Spencer swallowed hard, feeling a blend of attraction and apprehension. The way Y/N spoke, her casual yet intimate revelations, made him want to know more about her and, perhaps, reveal more about himself. The game had opened a door to a new level of connection, one that both excited and intimidated him.
The night had drifted into a mellow haze as the stars began to twinkle in the sky. The soft hum of conversation and clinking of glasses had subsided into a relaxed murmur as the team lingered in Rossi’s backyard, enjoying the cool night air. The rich aroma of the evening’s wine lingered in the air, adding a heady undertone to the tranquil setting.
Spencer had been engaged in a conversation with Rossi, but his mind kept drifting back to the playful exchanges he’d shared with Y/N. She had been captivating throughout the evening, her laughter and teasing remarks sticking in his mind. He found himself drawn to her energy, even as he struggled with his own insecurities.
As the night wore on, guests began to trickle out, and the ambiance of the backyard shifted to a quieter, more intimate atmosphere. Spencer watched as Y/N, her cheeks flushed with the warmth of the wine, made her way towards him. Her movements were graceful, and there was a certain confident allure in her stride that made Spencer’s heart skip a beat.
Y/N approached Spencer with a mix of determination and vulnerability. She cleared her throat gently, her eyes locking with his in a gaze that was both direct and inviting. The faint glow from the string lights above cast a warm halo around her, highlighting her striking features and the subtle sheen of her skin.
“Hey, Spencer,” she said, her voice soft but laden with an undeniable edge of sincerity. “Can we talk for a minute?”
Spencer, caught off guard, nodded. “Of course, Y/N. What’s up?”
Y/N led him a little away from the remaining guests, her hand brushing lightly against his as she guided him to a more secluded corner of the backyard. Spencer found he didn’t mind the contact too much, he might still wash his hands after. The quiet of the night enveloped them, the sounds of the party fading into the background.
She took a deep breath, her eyes searching his with a mix of hesitation and resolve. “I’ve really enjoyed talking with you tonight,” she began, her voice a touch more vulnerable than usual. “And I have to admit, I’ve been thinking... I’d like to see you again. Maybe for a coffee or dinner sometime? I’d love to get to know you better.”
Spencer’s heart raced as he took in her words. He felt a rush of warmth at the idea of spending more time with her, but the reality of his inexperience and his nerves threatened to overwhelm him. He managed a small, nervous smile, his mind racing through a whirlwind of thoughts.
“I’d like that,” Spencer said, his voice trembling slightly. “I’d really like that. I... I didn’t expect this, but I’m glad you asked.”
Y/N’s eyes softened, and she reached out to touch his arm, her fingers lingering for a moment. “Good,” she said, her tone taking on a more intimate quality.
Spencer felt a surge of excitement mixed with his usual apprehension. The way Y/N looked at him, with that blend of confidence and genuine interest, made him feel like he was worthy of her attention.
“Absolutely,” he said, feeling more confident. “Let’s definitely make plans. I’d like that very much.”
Y/N’s smile widened, a mix of relief and satisfaction crossing her face. “Great. I’m looking forward to it.”
With that, she gave him a warm, lingering smile and a light touch on his arm before heading back towards the group to say her goodbyes. Spencer watched her go, with a brand new phone number in his pocket, feeling a renewed sense of hope and excitement. The evening had taken an unexpected turn, and he couldn’t wait to see where this new connection with Y/N might lead.

I hope y'all enjoy, I have more ideas I just haven't been able to write them out :/

Hetalia characters with dishes typical for their country - part 2 (part 1 here)
Tumblr media
Spain: Paella de marisco (seafood paella) -> A surprisingly easy to make dish consisting of saffron infused rice with seafood. Other versions can also be made with meat from livestock (like the paella valenciana with chicken and rabbit) or be made vegetarian. The word "paella" is Valencian/Catalan and translates to "frying pan", the name of the dish originating from how it is traditionally cooked in a wide, shallow pan.
Tumblr media
Prussia: Königsberger Klopse (königsberger dumplings) -> Named after the capital of East Prussia, these dumplings are made from minced vail, pork, or beef mixed with onions, eggs, and soaked white bread and cooked in saltwater. Some of the brewing water is then thickened into a sauce using roux, egg yolk and cream. It is traditionally served with boiled or mashed potatoes. Back then in Königsberg itself, the dish was known as Saure Klopse (sour dumplings).
Tumblr media
South Italy: Pizza Margherita -> This flatbread made from leavened yeast dough topped with crushed tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and basil leaves. It is said to have earned it's name from appealing greatly to the Italian Queen Margherita when she tried the Neapolitan speciality, though newer reseach suggests that the name Margherita wasn't used until 40-50 years after the alleged incident.
Tumblr media
Finland: Mustikkapiirakka (blueberry cake) -> Berries play a very important part in Finnish food culture, especially hand picked forest blueberries which are often turned into pastries and pies. A particularly popular pie is made with the pie crust eased into the tart tin with floured hands (not rolled out), then the blueberries and a custard filling are added and the cake baked until the top becomes golden-brown.
Tumblr media
Sweden: Kannelbulle (cinnamon roll) -> Despite other Nordic countries claiming the invention of the sweet roll, very year on 4 October Sweden celebrates "Cinnamon Roll Day". A sheet of dough is covered in butter, sugar, and cinnamon, then rolled up and cut into the characteristic pieces. The are traditionlly baked in muffin wrappers and only dusted with sugar, they are lighter and less sweet than American cinnamon buns with icing.
Tumblr media
Denmark: Flødeboller (cream puff) -> The fluffy, foamy inside of this treat is made from beaten egg whites mixed with sugar, dressed on a wafer and covered in chocolate. Often they are topped with coconut flakes, shredded almonds, or colourful sprinkles, making them a popular little "cake" for danish children to have for someone's birthday at school. They were first invented around 1800 in Denmark, but quickly became popular in France and Germany as well.
Tumblr media
Norway: Kvæfjordkake (Kvæfjord cake) -> This sponge cake baked with meringue with almonds on top and then layered with vanilla or rum custard (sometimes mixed with whipped cream), is also dubbed the best cake in the world - Verdens beste. The name is based on the region it's inventer originates from. Starting in the 1930s as a variation of the kongekake ("king cake") with less almonds, as they were quite expensive, it is now a popular dessert for special celebrations.
Tumblr media
Iceland: Rjómabollur (profiterole) -> A little sweet treat made from choux pastry filled with jam and whipped cream, the top dipped in chocolate and decorated with sprinkles. Traditionally, they are eaten on "Bun Day", the Monday before Ash Wednesday. Kids wake their parent up by smacking them with paper wands and every smack on the parent's bottom before their feet touch the ground translates into one bun which the parent owes to the child.

Southern Cheese Spread Recipe
So I'm learning that Pimento Cheese is a very southern dip/spread, and I'm starting to think the reason it's not more popular is because store-bought pimento cheese is disgusting (if you think otherwise I'm glad you've found your bliss), so if you want an absolutely killer cracker/bagel spread give this a whirl:
You'll need:
2 1/2 cups freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
3/4th cup freshly shredded parmesean (preferrably a nicer, sharp parm-- though the pre-crumbled stuff does mix well and tastes pretty okay imo).
1/4 tsp garlic salt. (I'd really like to try "everything" seasoning as a stand-in for this).
1/2 cup mayo
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4th cup cream cheese (softened)
1/2 cup diced pimentos (you can leave these out or replace them with a jalapeños if you want more of a kick).
Optional if you like a little spice:
1/2 tsp hot sauce
To make it:
Grate the cheese.
Drain pimentos (if using).
Mix softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayo in a bowl until combined.
Add garlic salt/seasoning. Stir.
Add hot sauce (optional). Stir.
Add cheddar and parm to bowl. Stir.
Add pimentos. Stir.
Refrigerate for 30 minutes, though I suggest waiting up to 24 hours.
It should be about the consistency of a soft cream cheese when it's done, and look more orange than white. It should not be "wet".
When I tell you this stuff makes a great bagel spread, I mean it! It's also a bangin' grilled-cheese filling.

Tumblr media
The smell of rosemary and thyme mixed with the aroma of fresh dough filled the entire kitchen,  reminding you of your childhood in your grandma’s home. The idea of making pizza was your boyfriend’s, so he called your dad to ask for his iconic family recipe. He’d given Wonbin the list of ingredients, emphasizing over the phone that he could not forget the most important ingredient: love. “I once made pizza without love and it tasted terrible! So, don’t forget it!” Your dad’s enthusiastic voice echoed in Wonbin’s mind. Perfect for Valentine’s Day, he thought to himself.
“Y/n! Could you get the flour too, please?” You poke your head out from the pantry, hands filled with various herbs, spices, and of course, tomato sauce. You laugh, putting the ingredients on the countertop. "Sure, love." Flashing a smile at you, he thanks you, carefully adding the flour in. He gestures for you to come next to him, holding his dough-covered hand out for you to grab. You giggle, taking his hand, eyes flicking upward at his face. Removing his hand from yours, he wraps both his arms around your waist, lightly lifting you to sit atop the counter. After placing you down, he goes back to the dough, kneading it lightly.
Turning to look at the dough, you notice the marinara sauce jar is open. So, impulsively, you reach down, dipping your finger in the sauce and wiping it on your lips. "Look honey, do you like my new lipstick?" You wiggle your eyebrows at him, excitedly pointing at your lips. Wonbin lets go of the dough ball, turning to look at you. Throwing his head back in laughter, he leans over, staring at you intently. His eyes flick from your eyes to your marinara sauce-covered lips, resisting the urge to kiss the sauce off of you.
"Yes. It's a pretty red on you." Wonbin softly whispers, leaning in and giving in to his urge to kiss you. It was a soft kiss, like something out of a movie scene. It was in this moment, as he pulled away, that he knew. You were his future. Smiling, he says, “I need to finish the pizza, love. The dough has to prove for an hour or so.” You feel the heat on your cheeks rising as a small smile grows on your face.
Atop the countertop, you had the opportunity to admire your boyfriend as he focused on slicing mozzarella cheese. Taking a small piece, you bring it up to his mouth. Knowing what you wanted, he opened his mouth, letting you feed him tiny pieces of the cheese on the cutting board. “Mmphm-,” he paused, chewing before continuing, “you do realize that I have to use these for the pizza, right love?” You giggle mischievously, flashing a threatening smirk at him. You knew you didn’t look threatening, not with the flour all over you and the residue of dough on your face and shirt.
“You’re not scary, y/n.” He rolls his eyes, pressing a soft kiss on the crown of your head before turning to the dough, carefully removing it from the proving bowl. It smelled amazing, just like how your dad told him. He must’ve made it with love, you think quietly to yourself.
Grabbing two rolling pins, he divides the dough into equal portions, handing you a portion to make into your own heart pizza. “Could you pass me some oil, please?” He nods, momentarily pausing, rolling out his pizza to pass you the oil. He watches in admiration and pure love as you spread oil on the pan itself as well as the bottom of the pizza dough. Taking your hands, you carefully shape the edges and creases, forming it into a medium sized heart.
“I love you.” He whispers out, surprised by how soft his voice sounded even though it was just the two of you in your shared apartment. You giggle, sighing softly, replying, “I love you more.” He smiles, continuing to make his dough look more heart shaped, quietly spreading the sauce and adding some shredded cheese. You put the mozzarella that you’d previously been feeding to your boyfriend, onto your own pizza.
Handing the pizza to your boyfriend, you can watch eagerly as he puts them both in the oven, asking for a 45 minute timer from Siri. The two of you shared more kisses and soft laughter that night as you enjoyed the pizzas you’d both made with love. Your dad was right. Pizza does taste better when it’s made with love.

Midnight Cravings
I wrote another thing!! :DD This is the canon?? scenario where they both find out they're into the same stuff~ >;3c
Same as "Full Tank", Vanessa's dialogue is in pink, and Damien's is in purple
Hope you enjoy reading~!! ;3
The nearly full moon peeked through the curtains of Damien and Vanessa's bedroom, a reminder of the upcoming monthly transformation the couple had to endure
The bed creaked slightly as a figure sat up at the edge, slighty hunched and groggy. A long, low rumble that echoed through the room caused the werewolf to wince and curl into himself in discomfort, gritting his teeth, his lengthy canines flashing momentarily.
<<Come on, dinner was just a few hours ago, you already ate so much..>> he thought to himself, blushing slightly as he looked down at the little belly he'd recently grown, not that big, but compared to his previous rail-thin frame, it stuck out more, giving Damien the appearance of a beer gut. He rubbed it lightly, in hopes of calming the gnawing hunger to no avail. His pointed ears flicked as he checked to make sure that his wife remained asleep, a bit shy about his appetite
He glanced over his shoulder, listening and watching intently for any sign she might be feigning sleep, but was relieved to find her fast asleep, the vampire’s sweet face appearing just as beautiful in the dark as in daylight.
Another pang of animalistic hunger brought his attention back to the present, a low, frustrated growl escaping his lips. He began to salivate, longing for something to sink his teeth into. He needed to bite down on something, he needed to eat, and soon.
Damien stepped into his slippers and made his way out of the room, down the long hallway and staircase, and into the kitchen.
His pace quickened as the scent of food crept closer, taunting his howling stomach even more.
He practically tore the fridge door open, grabbing the first thing he could reach. Some meaty lasagna, from a lunch date they’d gone on the day before. The smell of the italian sausage in it only enticed him more, his body craving it. He showed some restraint, haphazardly tossing it onto a plate and into the microwave to warm it up. They’d ordered a few extra portions of the lasagna the day before to take home with them, so the plate definitely had some weight to it as he took it out of the microwave, still hot. He quickly set it down, waving his hand to cool it off and sucking his slightly burnt thumb.
The smell of the lasagna was intoxicating, the meat, cheese, pasta and marinara filling his nostrils. He fished out a fork from the silverware drawer and cut off a sizeable hunk from the main piece, cheese stretching as he pulled the fork to his mouth. He blew on it and brought the fork to his lips, moaning in delight at the taste.
He couldn't tell whether or not it was due to his lycanthropy-induced hunger, but it tasted like the most magnificent thing he’d ever had. The sudden surge in euphoria finally sent him over the edge, Damien beginning to shovel mouthfuls of the lasagna at a time, completely absorbed with his eating. In just a couple of minutes, the whole plate had been scraped and licked clean, virtually spotless.
As if he hadn't just eaten several servings of rich, calorie-dense food, he set his plate down and grabbed the next available dish in the fridge, a large container with pasta and some garlic bread left over from last night's dinner.
His patience growing thinner, he didnt even bother heating it up this time. Even cold, the pasta was creamy and the sauce was well seasoned and delicious. Damien continued eating, ripping off hunks of garlic bread between bites of pasta and dipping it in the sauce. He gratefully finished up everything in the container, scraping it clean and licking the fork, putting it aside and reaching back into the fridge once again for the next dish.
A batch of Vanessa's homemade soup dumplings. Those tiny, addicting little pockets of gold.. Damien peeled off the lid and tossed it onto the counter, popping them into his mouth one at a time, humming happily to himself and delighting in the way they would burst with flavor into his mouth as he bit down. They were the perfect size to eat in one bite. There were about eight in that container, each no bigger than a fist, and he polished off every single one with ease.
The werewolf licked his lips expectantly, letting out a few small burps as he reached back in yet again, rubbing his bulging belly absentmindedly
His hands found a nearly-full container of hearty potato and bacon soup, set it on the counter and removed the lid, running his tongue over his teeth hungrily.
No longer caring for manners, he scooped up the whole container and tipped it just enough to flow into his mouth. He gulped it down thickly, moaning lowly as it joined the rest of his meal in his bottomless belly. He paused a couple of times to chew the bigger pieces of potatoes and broccoli and other ingredients in the soup, but mostly just drank it down like it was nothing.
As the last dregs of the soup were swallowed down, he let out a wet belch, the contents sloshing inside his stomach.
His breathing grew heavier as his hunger continued, Damien growing visibly frustrated as he growled, feeling another rumble deep in the pit of his stomach. He sniffed the air, gruffly shoving the other foods aside and grabbing several packets of raw meat from the fridge, ingredients for tomorrow's meals no doubt.
He tore the plastic wrap off the tops of the styrofoam packages and one by one, wolfed down the hunks of meat. From full steaks to pork chops to chicken feet, he downed it all, his lupine side taking the wheel.
After that, everything sort of blurred together, he didn't really pay attention to what he ate, as long as it filled his belly.
Raw vegetables and meat, fruits, cold cuts, cheeses, leftovers and desserts, nothing was safe if it was in his reach.
He was now sitting on the floor, his legs spread out in a wide criss-cross position, licking up the remains of his feast, some frosting from a now devoured cheesecake decorating his fingertips and face.
It had probably been over an hour since he had gotten out of bed. It was a miracle Vanessa hadn't woken up to discover him yet, the vampire still fast asleep in bed, curled up in the comforters, blissfully unaware of her husband's midnight gorging.
Damien's mind started to clear now that he had satisfied his stomach, allowing him to come back to reality.
He was a complete mess of burps and hiccups, his stomach gurgling and churning loudly. He took short, huffy breaths, his stomach rising and falling like an overinflated balloon.
His waistband dug deeply into his underbelly, stretched to the max. This discomfort, bordering on pain, made Damien look down and face the results of his binging.
His throat made a sound between a squeak and a whimper as he saw himself for the first time since coming down into the kitchen.
The entirety of the fridges’ contents were now packed into the heaving mass that kept him pinned to the ground. Every rumble and gurgle was visible across the stretched surface of his flushed skin. Damien was in shock and disbelief, his mouth agape and his face and ears practically glowing red.
His heartbeat quickened, feeling something strange stir inside of him, causing him to squirm. He whined, clutching one of his burning hot cheeks in his hand, while the other kept him propped up off the ground.
He felt a million butterflies flutter from his stomach up and down his spine and settle between his legs, gasping, recognizing this feeling but confused by the strange cause.
His heart still beating at a million miles a minute, he removed his hand from his face and slowly placed it down onto the dome-like surface of his belly, feeling another small jolt of energy run through him.
He stifled a moan, feeling pleasant shivers run through him as he slowly became familiar with the shape of his belly, the way it felt when he rubbed it and the way it looked, sagging between his legs as he sat on the ground, surrounded by the evidence of his indulgence.
He bit his lip, trying to come to terms with these new feelings as he attempted to come back down from that sudden spike in excitement, feeling fuzz beginning to form on the sides of his face and not wanting to cause any further changes to his body.
He slowly got to his feet, heaving himself up by using the kitchen counter top. His gut sloshed and swayed as he stood, propped up on the counter and catching his breath.
“Hhhokay.. ffuck- hhhuff- that… I- I don't even know where to begin unpacking all that-” he panted, covering his flustered face with one hand, still bent over the counter
“I.. I should clean up, I cant *bwOorp-* believe I made such a mess..” he said, a twinge of guilt building as he looked around at the containers and small bits of food strewn around the floor of the once pristine kitchen.
He did his best to pick up the mess, struggling to bend over now that he had this massive boulder in the way of everything, but he refused to leave Vanessa with the mess, even if it left him winded beyond belief
A bit more time passed and he groggily picked up the last of the dishes, leaving them in the sink to wash in the morning.
There were still a couple of spots of food here and there that he couldn't reach or just didn't see because of his bloated belly, but it was certainly an improvement.
Damien's belly growled unpleasantly, upset by all the bending and moving. He burped and panted as he tried to calm his stomach, rubbing one hand over it cautiously
After a bit, he decided to finally make the journey back up to bed. He clutched his belly as he made his way back up the stairs, down the hallway and into his bedroom, letting out a sigh of relief as he entered the room
Damien sluggishly approached the bed, relieved to see Vanessa still cozied up under the covers, just the way he'd left her. A small smile and a gentle blush crept onto his face, gazing affectionately at his sleeping wife.
He was startled by a loud gurgle from his stomach, finally sitting down on the edge of his side of the bed. His eyes darted back to Vanessa several times as he tried to settle himself into bed without her noticing.
Finally, he felt relief as he settled into bed, the weight of his overfed tummy now resting on the plush mattress. He groaned with relief, glad to be back in bed.
His ear twitched as he heard Vanessa stir behind him, mumbling and whining sleepily as she reached for the warmth of her little spoon.
Damien squeaked as he felt her fingers graze the curvature of his stomach as it continued to churn and bubble audibly.
Vanessa shuffled closer to him, still mostly asleep as she pulled herself closer to him and holding onto the pillow he was hugging. But it was much too firm, and.. warm to be a pillow..? What else could it be though, sticking out so far in front of..
“..Baby..? Is that- you?..” she asked, her voice just above a whisper and her cheeks growing warm. Vanessa's eyes fluttered open, Damien's back facing her. His heart beat wildly in his chest, her husband remaining quiet as a mouse, tensing up slightly as she felt around, trying to determine what she was holding onto.
She squeaked and drew her hand back quickly as another long rumble echoed through the room, feeling the vibration against her fingers as her suspicions (or hopes) were confirmed.
That warm, round, mass she was feeling was his stomach.
Her sleepy and flustered mind tried to make sense of it all.. Yes, she had been trying to ease him into eating more, and was delighted to see the gradual effects of all her cooking going to his waistline, but this was something entirely different.
She had nothing to do with this, who knows how much he'd eaten to get this big. A shiver ran down her spine as her face turned red, her mind beginning to wander, though she tried her best to stay focused on the present
“I-it's okay, honey, um, are you.. okay..? You sound like you're in pain..”
Damien nervously replied, averting his eyes from his abdomen. “Hhh- I'm.. I'm *urp-* okay.. I'm just- really embarrassed.. and f- *hic-!* full..”
“Here, turn around, I can help you feel better” she said, her heart beating faster as she prepared herself to see the damage
“..Okay..” he muttered, grunting and huffing as he adjusted himself in bed, holding onto his stomach as if it would roll away if he moved too carelessly. He rolled onto his back, taking a second to catch his breath, before allowing his gut to spill back out in front of him again, sloshing and gurgling angrily at the sudden movement. Vanessa tensed as she felt his belly rub up against her, sticking out far from the rest of his body
Damien burped and groaned, his face and ears feeling warm, feeling Vanessa’s gaze, and hearing her heart race inside her chest
“O-oh.. wow… You- you must've been.. really hungry..” she said in a quiet tone, awestruck with the sheer size of his gut
“I’ve.. I don't think I've ever seen you this full.. you poor thing, it looks so- tight..” she said, putting a bit of emphasis on that last bit
Damien watched bashfully as she reached her hands out to caress his belly, hearing her struggle to keep her breaths steady
As her hands gingerly rested on the warm, taut surface, another lengthy rumble reverberated against the surface, sending shivers through her fingertips and all throughout her body. Her husband let out a small, needy whine, which was quickly cut off by his own embarrassment
“S-sorry-” he stammered, his face growing redder by the second “I r-URP-eally tried not to wake you.. God, this is so embarrassing..” he groaned, hiding his face in his hands
Vanessa began rubbing her husband's aching belly, trying to stay level-headed, though she was becoming extremely flustered
“You have nothing to apologize for, you can't help it that your appetite gets stronger around this time of the month..”
“I know, but- it's never been this much before.. I don't kn-*ourp-* know what got into me.. I mean.. look at me. I-I’m huge!”
Vanessa turned a bit red at his acknowledgement of his size, trying not to stare too much at his belly as she rubbed her thumbs in gentle circles over the topmost section of the dome
“H-how much did you eat, anyway? I didn't even think it was possible for you to get this big in one sitting-” she asked, letting the question she’d been wanting to ask slip
The werewolf’s eyes widened, embarrassment creeping up on him again
He averted gaze as he spoke “Uhm.. I didn't mean to, but- I-I ate everything in the.. the fridge.. I just couldn't really- stop…” he muttered, his eyes darting for a second to meet Vanessa’s before quickly looking away
Vanessa's breath hitched, feeling her heart nearly leap out of her chest
“...No way..” she whispered, “You mean all this-” She put one hand on each side of his belly “is.. everything we had..? The pasta.. steak.. all our leftovers..e-everything.. you- ate all that..?” She asked, fighting to contain herself as her fingers grabbed a bit tighter onto him subconsciously
Damien gulped, his heart racing “M-mhmm…” he replied, nodding slightly, trembling a bit as her nails grazed his overly-sensetive skin. Blood pumped furiously through his body, something that did not go unnoticed by the vampire
She began trailing her hands along the surface of his belly, feeling every inch of the distended mass, little jolts of electricity running through her as her husband wordlessly whimpered at the sensation, his breaths coming in winded huffs, too full to inhale all the way without feeling like he might burst.
Vanessa became entranced, getting a bit more handsy and exploring more of his underbelly, shifting it slightly to hear the labored gurgles from within. She glided a hand down near the spot where his belly met with his waistband, and felt something she wasn't expecting, the momentary contact eliciting a shuddering moan from her husband. She let out a tiny gasp and withdrew her hand, feeling herself go red as a cherry. The room was dead silent for a few moments as the two of them processed what just happened
“Damien.. a-are you-?”
“I-I’m so sorry, I'm sorry- I didn't know that was still there- I didn't mean-!”
“Nonono- I-it’s ok- really, honey- I just- I didn't expect you to be.. enjoying this, too..”
Damien was about to reply when her last words registered in his head
“Too..? You mean you.. you're into this..??” He asked, with a flustered and surprised expression on his face
Vanessa blushed deeply, unable to stop the corners of her mouth from curling up, a bashful smile adorning her face
“I, um, yeah.. hahah- I- I've kind of.. always been into.. this kind of stuff..”
“Whuh?? S-since when??! I-I never noticed-” he trailed off, his mind looking for any signs he might've missed throughout the years they had been together
Vanessa always had these little habits that he could never really understand, always eager to fill up his plate, always making or bringing sweet things for him to eat and cheer him up.. the way she watched him eat whenever he was particularly ravenous.. and how much she loved rubbing her cool hands over his tummy when they cuddled in both his human and wolf form.. even back when it was flat as a board…
So many of the small things he hadn't paid much mind to began to add up, piecing together the puzzle
“Oh.. ohhh.. Oh. My god, how did I not notice sooner, you little sneak.. you've been fattening me up!” He said, a flustered and indignant expression on his face
It was hard to take him seriously when he clearly didn't look as upset as he intended to, his blush and trembling lip giving him away completely
Vanessa held back laughter, flustered as she was caught “I knowww, I'm sorry, you just always seemed so excited for meals, and you always look so content when you're eating, I just wanted to spoil you, it makes me happy to see you enjoying yourself, hon.. You deserve it.. Besides, who's the one asking for thirds at dinner, hmm?” She lightly poked his belly, making Damien huff and blush deeper “You've always had a big appetite, I just.. fed into it a little more.. that's all..” she purred, a cheeky grin forming across her face
Damien was lost for words, unable to stop himself from grinning back at her, his face and ears radiating heat
“Okay, I might’ve enjoyed the extra pampering.. a little..” he said, unable to look her in the eye, feeling the hairs on his neck stand on end as her fangs flashed in a toothy grin in his peripheral. She knew just how to push his buttons, it’s hardly fair at all..
Vanessa grinned widely, squeezing his swollen underbelly, pressing her thumb into him and making his stomach gurgle loudly
“Come on, we both know it was more than a little~” she purred teasingly
Damien yelped and burped, his whole body lighting up with electricity “O-ok-! Yes! I did like it-! I liked it a lot!” He panted as she released him “I.. I just didn't know how I felt.. not until tonight..” he looked down at his stomach, his heart fluttering in his chest
“It feels.. so fucking good… I couldn't stop because- I didn't want to.. I just- wanted to have more.. g-get tighter.. Knowing I could finish all that.. just makes me wonder what it would feel like if I could fit more..” he continued, the words flooding out of his mouth before he could think
“I wanna be good for you- I wanna finish everything you give me.. even if I end up not being able to see my toes, I don't care, being with you makes all that worth it..”
Vanessa’s eyes sparkled, her heart beating wildly in her chest, staring into her husband’s violet eyes
“You.. You’re okay with that? You wanna keep.. ah.. growing..?” she asked timidly, in near disbelief
“I- think so, yeah.. it would be a nice change of pace, I'm still kind of figuring out how I feel about.. this..” he said, gesturing to his gut “But, I wanna see where this goes… a little relationship weight never hurt anybody.. Besides, it's fun seeing you all stirred up like this~” he whispered, smirking
Vanessa stared at him for a moment before practically lunging at him and kissing him, pawing at his distended belly, the two huffing noisily, Vanessa beginning to work her way down from his mouth, to his cheek, his neck, chest, and belly, peppering in a few bites here and there to hear him moan
She planted kisses all over the surface of his belly, nibbling on the white colored happy trail below his navel, feeling a rush as he whimpered needily, her sharp teeth teasing the taut surface
Damien’s hands gripped her shoulders tightly, the werewolf panting heavily and causing his massively bloated gut to expand further with each heaving breath
“I want you as big as this bed.. Just a big, chubby hubby, all for me..” she mused between kisses. All of those urges she kept hidden away over time bubbled to the surface as she whispered sweet nothings to Damien, toying with him the way she'd been wanting to for so long
Damien was in pure bliss, unable to respond other than small moans and delighted whimpers, squirming beneath her
“I think you've earned yourself breakfast in bed, big boy~ Hope you bring your appetite, ‘cause I plan on going all out~”
Damien blushed heavily, his mind growing pleasantly foggy from all the excitement “Hahh- huff.. Do your worst, I'm all yours~”

I want to believe that the neighbors do a sort of apartment potluck and they all bring their things. Nacha might be the apartment complex's chef but I think all neighbors have their specialty dishes.
I don't really see any of them being completely hopeless at cooking 😅 even those who aren't the best still manage to bring a decent dish
Here's a list of what they would bring:
Roman Stilnsky: Borscht or stroganoff with the help of Lois, of course, since he tends to wander off and forget about the kitchen altogether lol
Lois Stilnsky: Either knoephla soup or gooey butter cake. Midwestern classics!
Robertsky Peachman and Albertsky Peachman: They often bring potato stew or peach pie (sometimes with ice cream to serve a la mode). Albertsky dreads making the pies every time.
Angus Ciprianni: Since he knows that the foods will often be heavy/filling he opts for the simplest option of pasta with tomato and basil sauce (plus some cheese) to cut the richness.
Elenois Sverchzt and Selenne Sverchzt: They either bring varenki or chicken kyiv. Coincidentally, their childhood favorites.
Arnold Schmicht and Gloria Schmicht: Arnold is a simple man, he knows that you can't go wrong with hush puppies! Gloria, on the other hand, makes some collard greens because she thinks her neighbors need to eat vegetables. Sometimes, for christmas dinner, they take care of the mac and cheese.
Izaack Gauss: Knowing him, he probably was going on his way to home when he had The Realization™ that the potluck is the next day, so he runs to the store and grabs all the ingredients needed to make schnitzel, something easy but not any less welcome.
Margarette Bubbles: Tater tots casserole, because again #midwestern
Nacha Mikaelys: She ALWAYS brings something new, so everyone is always at the edge of their seats trying to guess what she will bring. The big hits during this event have been: Pot roast, Tortilla chicken soup, Oven baked baby back ribs (even recieving Mclooy's approval), and Mashed potatoes. She also makes baklava, but that's a christmas exclusive!
Anastacha Mikaelys: Anastacha is still learning how to cook and while she doesn't often bring something, she makes a KILLER dip for chips* and sometimes brings appetizer-sized burritos.
Mia Stone: She likes to bring some roasted brussel sprouts but she also likes to make Shepherd's pie. At times, she brings marbled cake.
Dr. W. Afton: Like Anastacha, doesn't always bring things, but when he does, he opts of soup dumplings or spring rolls. Sometimes likes to make rice pudding.
Francis Mosses: He makes a good potato salad, he adds some apple to his, but always leaves a small container without apples for Anastacha.
Steven Rudboys: He likes to bring baked beans. He's not the best at baking but his biscuits are always welcome. And also brings beer, of course.
Mclooy Rudboys: His brisket is unparalleled, that's all you need to know.
Alf Cappuccin: Just like Anastacha and Afton, he doesn't bring food often but he likes to bring crumpets with a jar of jam and some butter.
Rafttellyn Cappuccin: She often complements to what Alf brings so she tends to cook fish and chips, other times she brings some goulash. Raffie sometimes brings some berry crumble.

EASY FRIED CHEESE BITES
Ingredients:
10 oz mozzarella string cheese (or 10 sticks)
1 cup Italian bread crumbs
1 cup flour
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
Cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions:
Take out a cutting board and cut your string cheese sticks into bite size pieces.
In a medium sized bowl, add your eggs and whisk to break them up. Add the milk and whisk again to incorporate the two ingredients.
Set aside two additional bowls. Fill one with your flour and the next with your bread crumbs. Place the bowl with your eggs and milk mixture in the middle of that line, so that you now have three bowls in a row (flour, eggs, bread crumbs).
Take one piece of mozzarella. Dip it in the flour, then immediately in the egg mixture. Now, roll your cheese bite around in the bread crumbs. Continue to do this until you have all the pieces of cheese coated. You can place each finished piece on a plate once they are completed.
In a medium sized skillet, heat your vegetable oil (about 2 inches high) to 350 degrees. (To test this, place a wooden spoon handle in the oil. If the bubbles are rolling on the handle, you're ready.)
Pull out a plate and line it with a paper towel.
Add 5-7 pieces into the oil for about 30 seconds. Make sure that you keep them separated so that they don't bond together!
Fry your mozzarella bites until they are golden brown (which should be at that 30 second mark). Using a slotted spoon, remove your pieces from the oil and place them on the paper towels.
Repeat this process with different batches until all of your bites are fried.
Serve immediately with pasta sauce or just eat them by themselves!

Unspoken Signals pt. 3
Bucky Barnes: The Best Kind of Hero Returns Home with Pregnancy Cravings
Tumblr media
As the evening sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm golden hue across the skyline, you found yourself lost in thought, eager yet anxious for your husband’s return. Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier turned devoted boyfriend, was out on a mission for the Avengers—one of those missions that seemed endless, filled with the weight of responsibility and stakes that felt impossibly high. Yet, tonight was special. Tonight, he would not just return as the superhero you met, but as the father of your child, a reality confirmed through the tiny bump growing in your belly and the moments of pure joy that accompanied the journey of pregnancy.
While you busied yourself with small chores around the house, the sound of the door clicking open pulled your attention. Any trace of worry quickly dissipated as you turned to see Bucky striding in, his tall frame silhouetted against the doorway. His cobalt blue eyes shone with warmth, and a smile broke across his face at the sight of you. The bond that you had forged through trials, buttressed by his scope of hardships and your shared love, felt even more potent amidst the excitement of your impending parenthood.
As he approached you, a playful twinkle ignited in his eyes. “Hey, gorgeous,” he said softly, enveloping you in an embrace, his arms wrapping protectively around your midsection. You could still smell the traces of the leather jacket he had donned earlier, mingled with the faint scent of the mission—a hint of gunpowder and adrenaline. You embraced him tightly, feeling the love radiating from him anchor you in a tumultuous sea of hormones and emotions.
“Did you bring it?” you asked eagerly, the anticipation of your pregnancy cravings igniting an infectious smile on your face. For weeks, Bucky had teased about the little experiment of picking up your wild cravings from the various parts of the world he had visited on missions. You weren’t entirely sure what he had in store for you, but the thought itself ignited a spark of excitement in your heart.
With a theatrical flair, Bucky reached into his backpack. He pulled out various items, each comically exaggerated, revealing his talent at fulfilling your cravings with nothing short of precision. First came a box of gourmet donuts from a café he found in Brooklyn—a raspberry-filled delight you had been pining for since the first trimester began. Next, he produced artisanal cheese from a farmer’s market he stumbled upon in Vermont, accompanied by a variety of crackers. Then, to top it all, a bottle of sriracha sauce he had been carrying from a Thai food stall in Tokyo.
“What can I say?” he grinned, leaning against the kitchen counter, “Your cravings are my commandments.”
You laughed, taking in the selection as if it were a treasure trove curated just for you. “You’re insane,” you remarked fondly, “but oh my God, it all looks amazing!” You felt an overwhelming sense of appreciation for him—this man who had once lived a life of turmoil, now transformed into your partner in this beautiful journey. Together, you were building a family, even amidst the chaos of his previous life as an assassin.
After indulging in the sweet, rich, and savory delicacies he had brought, the two of you settled on the couch, Bucky’s arm draped protectively around your shoulders. With the warm glow of the lamp illuminating the cozy living room, you couldn't help but share some of your thoughts and concerns.
“What’s it like out there?” you asked softly, your voice barely above a whisper. “You deal with so much, and I worry about you.”
Bucky turned to you, his expression softening. “It’s a world out there, full of chaos and danger,” he replied, his voice thick with sincerity, “but knowing that you’re here… waiting for me... it makes everything worth it.” He brushed a strand of hair behind your ear, emphasizing the intimacy of the moment.
You could feel your heart swell with love and pride. Bucky had a past filled with darkness, a past that still haunted him. But he had emerged modern-day phoenix-like, and his devotion to you and your unborn child illuminated his path. Even in the toughest moments, he kept pushing forward, not just for the mission, but for the family that was growing.
In the months leading up to your baby’s arrival, there was an unspoken understanding between you. You changed as a couple and as a family. The nights spent planning and dreaming of parenthood felt like a sacred ritual. It was a shared experience laden with hope and, yes, a hint of nervousness. As your body changed, so did your relationship, growing deeper in ways neither of you could have anticipated.
That night, Bucky held your hands, warmth spreading between your fingers as he looked at you, eyes glimmering with unshed tears. “We’re gonna be great parents, you know that, right? We have each other,” he affirmed, his voice steady but filled with emotion.
You smiled through your own tears, feeling valor grip your heart. Resilience was a hallmark of your relationship, woven through the battles you had fought together. In this shared journey of parenthood, you imagined two parents learning, making mistakes, and growing alongside their little one. It was thrilling, and it was terrifying.
In that moment, with laughter echoing off the walls and the scent of sriracha still lingering in the air, you and Bucky began to transform a quirky evening into the foundation of your future—a tapestry rich with love and adventure. The winding road of parenthood lay ahead, paved with affection, laughter, and the occasional culinary adventure, but it didn’t matter what lay ahead.
As long as you had Bucky by your side, the journey was bound to be extraordinary, complete with the magical intersection of heroics, cravings, and the undeniable joy of family. You closed your eyes, resting your head on his shoulder, feeling content and ready for all that was yet to come.

Hey Sam. If you're so inclined, could you recommend a few 'must eat' places in Downtown Chicago? My hotel will be near the Red Line (Grand station) and I'm fine walking a good 10 minutes for awesome food. I'm planning my trip and trying to put together a few food places for lunch and dinner and such. Pizza, burgers, bbq, donuts, steak, sushi..., I'm flexible!
You know, honestly, I don't eat out much anymore so I'm not sure where the best places to get a bite are. I'm going to make some recommendations but they're about to be a mixture of "If you come to Chicago this is somewhere everyone goes" and "This is somewhere Sam personally likes to eat but which you may not go for." :D
So, if you're at Grand, you are pretty much on top of the Weber Kettle Grill. Weber Kettle Grill does GREAT grill food and my parents always want to eat there when they come into town. If you ask to sit at the chef's table, you'll be seated at what looks like a bar, but it also looks all the way down the row of giant indoor grills the chefs use to cook the food. If you want something quieter and less busy they also have a fairly large dining room.
If you want a real Chicago experience, there's a Portillo's pretty close to you (that one's called "Portillo's & Barnelli's"); Portillo's is a local chain that does burgers, dogs, and crucially Italian Beef. Italian Beef is my go-to Chicago food for people who (like me) don't want to eat Deep Dish Pizza. It's a crusty roll filled with shredded braised beef; you can get it with sweet peppers, hot peppers, or no peppers (they might call it "giardinera" which is the local term for the pepper relish they use). If you get it "dipped", once the sandwich is made it's dunked in a flavorful jus before being wrapped up; if you don't like wet bread I'd skip this, but I love it. If you REALLY don't like wet bread, maybe get a Chicago Style hot dog instead. Portillo's is also famous for being The Place Where they make you a milkshake with an entire slice of chocolate cake in it. You can also just get a slice of cake, which is fantastic.
There's also an Al's Italian Beef near you if you want a more local experience. Locals absolutely can and will eat at Portillo's, the food's not better at Al's, it's just a bit more tourist-friendly than Al's tends to be.
If you want that true authentic Chicago deep dish experience (pie crust filled with cheese and then topped with sauce) Pizzeria Uno and Pizzeria Due are very close by; they vie for the dubious honor of having invented the deep dish pizza. I can't recommend it, but if you want it, hit one of those.
If you're not from the midwest and would like to sample a decent approximation of Detroit style deep dish (thick bready crust topped with cheese and then sauce) Jet's Pizza likely delivers to your hotel. I can't recommend going to a Jet's, many of them don't have anywhere to sit and eat, and for a pizza joint they're a bit costly, but it's very good pizza. My Detroit friends say it's a perfectly acceptable pie by their standards.
Volare Ristorante is a nearby hidden gem if you're in the mood for upscale Italian; I really like their pasta, but they are on the pricier end. If you're walking east on Grand to get there, you do have to go under Michigan, and you will likely fear that you will be stabbed and left for dead in this weird underground cavern, but I promise you, it's smelly but safe.
Goddess And The Baker and Beatrix are both good places to pick up breakfast. If you wish to glimpse Hell, the Starbucks Roastery at Michigan and Erie is one of the largest buxes in the country (possibly the world?) and is a FUCKING NIGHTMARE to navigate, but it's certainly an experience.
If you're venturing into the Loop, Russian Tea Time is a fun place to have afternoon tea and the a la carte food is also quite good; they're very close to the Art Institute. There's not much to eat if you're going to the museum campus, and my favorite Greek place closed down, but Minghin Cuisine is a good Chinese place (I've eaten there) and AO Hawaiian Hideout is supposedly some of the best Chinese in the city (I have not eaten there).
If you are craving Chinese, you can also catch the Red Line directly to the Chinatown stop and browse, I've never had a bad meal in Chinatown. When you get off the train, if you go north to the station exit with only stairs, you can exit, look left, and see the "new" Chinatown that's basically an outdoor mall; if you go south to the escalator exit, once you leave turn right and you'll see the big pagoda entrance to "old" Chinatown, which is more shops than restaurants. New Chinatown has some excellent bakeries, and also a Korean fried chicken place, Bonchon, that's extremely good. Usually when I take friends we go to Joy Yee which has a huge menu and also bubble tea.
As a final plug I'll list The Berghoff, which is in the loop (off the Jackson Red Line stop); it's pretty hefty German cuisine, all excellent food, and also is a top notch place to take anyone with gluten issues -- the owners have a kid with a gluten intolerance and the restaurant has an exceptional gluten-free menu with unusually strict protocols to prevent cross-contamination in the kitchen.
And if you want to get a little baked first, you are pretty close to Sunnyside dispensary, which is a very nice dispensary with super friendly people. If you take the Red Line to Roosevelt or are in the area, Grasshopper Club is less expensive, just as friendly, and Black-owned, and they've been my go-to for a couple of months now. At either one you can walk-in to speak to a budtender about what you'd like, or you can preorder online, but be aware that there are limitations on what out-of-staters can purchase. Having sampled most of the gummies out there, I'd recommend Mindy's (any flavor is good but the black cherry is my preferred). Do bring ID, you will be carded.
I hope you enjoy Chicago! If you have more questions feel free to hit me up here or at [email protected] if you'd like to have more of like, a dialogue :) Have fun and eat well!

Cheesecake Spring Rolls with Caramel Drizzle Enjoy a delightful twist on a classic dessert with these crispy cheesecake spring rolls served with a luscious caramel drizzle. Perfect for sharing, these treats are sure to impress! Ingredients: For the spring rolls: 8 large spring roll wrappers 8 oz cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup powdered sugar 1 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 cup sour cream 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips, optional 1/2 cup cinnamon sugar for coating Oil for frying (vegetable oil or canola oil) For the caramel drizzle: 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup heavy cream 2 tbsp butter 1 tsp vanilla extract Directions: Prepare the cheesecake filling: In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and sour cream. Mix until smooth and creamy. Optionally, fold in mini chocolate chips to add a little extra flavor and texture. Assemble the spring rolls: Lay a spring roll wrapper on a clean surface with one corner facing you like a diamond shape. Place about 2-3 tablespoons of the cheesecake filling in the center of the wrapper. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides. Roll tightly, sealing the edge with a little water. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling. Fry the spring rolls: Heat oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium-high heat, about 350F or 175C. Carefully place the spring rolls into the hot oil, a few at a time, being sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, flipping them occasionally to ensure even cooking. Remove the spring rolls from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Coat the spring rolls: While the spring rolls are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated. Prepare the caramel drizzle: In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar, heavy cream, and butter over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sugar is dissolved and the sauce is smooth and thickened, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Serve: Serve the warm, crispy cheesecake spring rolls drizzled with the homemade caramel sauce for dipping. Enjoy this deliciously sweet and creamy treat!
