Fanart of Sabi from @monsoon-of-art's Pokemon Mer AU, because I was given permission to share fanart (a terrible mistake, really), and the clairvoyant gremlin demanded that I spend two hours rendering what was supposed to be a simple doodle. She is getting up to mischief, probably.

I... assume that Sabi is supposed to have the weird cuttlefish pupils? I hunted through Monsoon-of-art's mer tag to find all the little Sabi snippets, and her pupils were very flat and wide in one of them -- the only one I could find where she had pupils -- so I went from there.

The one colored Mer Sabi that I found had blue cheeks, so I thought that that meant that her blush would also be blue. Hopefully I was right.

I was not going into this intending to render an entire drawing. I meant to do a bunch of doodles, but, well Sabi happened.

Takes a deep breath. Ok so, I debated adding this fic. Not because I don't like it, but because I haven't actual read this in years, so I don't know how it stands up to the test of time.

I don't usually like adding fics that I can't certifiably recommend, but I also feel like if you haven't read this, you haven't Really experienced Undertale reader inserts. It's like. a classic.

I still remember vividly cringing from secondhand embarrassment SO many times while reading BUT I wouldn't trade in that experience for anything- I fucking loved this fic. It was wonderful and terrible and so incredibly fun, and honestly I kinda don't want to reread it so I can keep it in the shiny veneer of nostalgia forever.

Uhhhh, I don't actually have a good segue for this, but this one also has really complicated relationships. There is a happy ending! It's a fucking rollercoaster to get there though.

It's kinda in the same vein as The Party Incident for me, I consider it a classic, and it's also... very 2016/17. Take that how you will. I don't know if I'd recommend this fic, but I definitely think you should read it, if you know what I mean. I'm VERY fond of it despite my extremely conflicted emotions. It's definitely not for everyone though.

Oh, also it has the most fucked up form of skeleton reproduction ever <3 That's okay though, because it results in one of my favourite fankids ever. I'm love my boyyy Impact ;w;!!!!

Anyway I'm a little obsessed with this fic. There's a skeleton reader, who's a necromancer! The skeletons are thought to be gods, but actually they got isekai'd! It's a WILD RIDE and it's surprisingly good??? It feels like one of those webtoons or manga that you look at the cover/summary for and go *??????* at, but then you start reading it and go "OH, THIS IS REALLY FUN ACTUALLY."

There's pretty intense language barriers between the skeletons and the reader for a lot of the fic, but I love that sorta stuff, so that just makes it better for me lol. I adore the dynamics between the characters, they feel so diametrically opposed sometimes it's great.

They say that imitation is one of the best form of flattery, but when you don't want to get caught by a certain dimensional hopper (and be mistaken for one of his foes), it's the best way to blend in!

Day 11: Mutation/Shell(s)

And finally: the answer!

LBM found this weird shell on the beach while they were on vacation, but when he checked it (read: nibbed it), it reacted and tooted a magical cloud that mutated our Little Baby Man into a Mer!

(The same fate happened to Dani/Little Baby Menace and Dan/Little Baby Terror, changing them into a Seahorse Mer and Octopus Mer respectively.

I've got a lineart done of them for another prompt, but I didn't manage in time to clean and color it yet, along with a couple of others... ( ≧Д≦) )

This has two versions because I couldn't decide which was better. @teacupsandstarlight suggested the first because of the transforming smoke around our boi, but since I saved both, I told myself: why not upload both?

I still have some linearts to finish/digitalize/color, but at least I contributed to these two fantastic events, hope y'all enjoyed them and my works!

Notes: What was going to be a silly little one-shot has spiraled into a full-blown universe thanks to much brainstorming and encouragement from my fantastic beta, @dame-zoom-a-lot, who will also be doing some fun companion stuff. They truly went above and beyond the call of the beta with this one, helping me so much with developing this world.

Harrington was with the kids again.

Billy wasn't sure when it had started, or why, but over the past few months he kept seeing Steve with his little sister and her gaggle of dweeb friends, including the uber dweeb, Princess El.

Billy thought it must be some attempt by Harrington to worm his way even further into the king's good graces. Not like he needed any help, coming from the family that he did; his dad was the king's brother. But Steve had always been a suck-up. And now he had this group of kids following him around, looking at him like he was some sort of god.

Billy was there to pick up Max, but he didn't swim directly over to the group. He took a moment to watch them from a distance, floating in the shadow of a large rock.

Steve laughed at something the curly-haired one with the weird tooth thing said. He watched as Steve and the kid engaged in some sort of complicated handshake. It was ridiculously dorky, and Billy wasn't sure why it made him want to smile. Max was laughing at them, happier than Billy had seen her in a long time. Neither of them laughed much under Neil's shadow.

Steve looked happy, too, his eyes bright in a way Billy didn't think he'd ever seen before. Steve's expressions during his interactions with Billy were typically limited to frowns, glares, or outright snarls. Even when he wasn't dealing with Billy, he never looked happy at school. Not like this. It made his whole face light up. For a moment, Billy could see why everyone at school thought Harrington was attractive.

Intrigued, Billy attempted to move a little closer, so he could hear what they were saying. His arm scraped against a mussel-covered rock as he moved. He wasn't able to stop the yelp he let out as the sharp mussels cut into his flesh, blood seeping out into the water around him.

The kids and Steve noticed. Billy tried to hide behind a rock, but he wasn't quick enough.

"Billy?" Steve called, catching sight of him behind the rock as he swam over. "Why are you skulking around behind the rocks? Are you bleeding?"

"I'm not skulking," Billy growled. "I was just coming to pick up Max, and I ran into some mussels."

"So you… hid?" Steve prodded. He crossed his arms over his chest, lifting his eyebrows. He was back to his usual bitchy scowl, the bright look gone from his face.

"Fuck off, Harrington. I'm not hiding." He wasn't going to give Steve any more excuses. He was done with this conversation. "MAX!" he yelled. "Come on, we can't be late again."

Max swam to Billy, waving to her friends. "Bye, Steve," she said, with a soft smile that Billy had never been privy to before. "Thanks for the help."

"What the fuck was he helping you with?" Billy demanded when he and Max were out of earshot.

Max glared at him. "None of your business, dickwad."

Billy's jaw tightened. Why was she so freaking nice to Steve, when she still treated him, her own brother, like shit? Billy batted her lightly on the back of her head. "Don't be an asshole."

"Takes one to know one," Max shot back, swimming further ahead of him. "He's helping me with obelisks," she called back eventually. "Since we can't afford the training camp."

They really should have been able to afford the training camp, but Neil kept blowing most of their bartering goods at the betting tables.

Billy pumped his tail hard to catch up with Max. When had she gotten so fast? "Why are you asking him to teach you? You know he's not as good as I am."

Max snorted. "It's not like you offered." Billy winced. It was true. He knew Max wanted to learn to play, and hadn't done anything about it.

Truth was, he found Max pretty fucking annoying. When he was around fourteen, Billy had reached a fragile sort of truce with Neil, learning how to handle his dad's temper. But when Susan and her red-headed pipsqueak moved in later that year, Billy became a punching bag again. Presumably as some sort of deranged coping mechanism to keep his dad from punching Susan or Max instead, but that didn't mean Billy had to like it.

So he didn't pay much attention to Max. He actively avoided her as much as he could, didn't like the resentment that bubbled up every time he was around her. But he was her brother. She should be looking at him like he was some sort of god, not at Steve fucking Harrington.

"I'll teach you," he finally said.

She looked over at him sharply, eyes narrowed in suspicion. "Is this some sort of a joke?"

"No," Billy huffed, annoyed that she wouldn't just take his offer. "I'll fucking teach you obelisks. I'm better at it than him. You should learn from the best."

Max rolled her eyes, but relaxed slightly. "Alright. I might as well cash in on this weird rivalry you two have."

PIRATE MERMAN AU IS SO GALAXY BRAIN THO--

I'm trying to imagine what the other Phantom Blood characters could be in this au. Perhaps Speedwagon is a fellow pirate in Erina's crew and the two of them keep playing Robin Hood with the wealthy ship merchant Dio? Who later tries to capture Jonathan? Would be funny if his "rejecting his humanity" moment was turning into a merman instead of a vampire lol.

Since Zeppeli is a mentor of Jonathan imagine if he was a merman too. Perhaps the other Hamon masters like Dire and Straizo are similarly mers.

Also: what if Jonathan's dog Danny was a seal?

YOUR BRAIN IS SOO HUGE I love fellow pirate Speedwagon!! I'd been imagining Dio as a literal Siren, still adopted into Jonathan's family, but him being ship merchant and being an opposition to Erina and Speedwagon is so incredibly sexy. Also puts the poor fucker back in more or less the same growing-up situation, which is fantastic (sorry Dio)

The Hamon-users being merfolk is on the money, I'm obsessed. I was thinking that Jonathan being a merman would probably not change his affinities much, and it would be interesting to see him put his archaeology into underwater-application. There could totally be a stone-maskish something-or-other that could cause mer-transformation. Maybe the "siren who lures sailors to death" type of malevolent merfolk is what comes from it lol. Maybe Jonathan or someone in his family unearths the mask from the ruin site of an old shipwreck and as he's studying it, eventually Dio comes into possession, bam, now the guy can sing songs that kill people. Instead of dying in the sun he just straight up can't survive above water. There is so totally something there.

ALSO FISH HAMON TEACHER ZEPPELI IS GREAT IN PARTICULAR FOR THE REASON OF: "He launched into the air from sitting position!!!1!!" Can be translated directly to fucked up behaviors with his tail, and there is no version of this thought process that is not funny as fuck. Does his tail do a squish and sproing like Tigger. Does he launch himself 10 feet above the ocean surface. Does he do some fucked up little swim that is whimsical and uncanny.

I very woefully have too little knowledge to imagine the finer goings-on between Erina, Speed, and Dio, but you must know it fucks so severely. And I may or may not be obsessed now with the dynamic this would create between Erina and Speedwagon. Holy fuck they'd be so cool. I need them interacting. How much do I need to pay for someone to write a fanfic

Is it weird that I'm thinking of like, a platonic yandere X-Men Titanic and Siren/Mer/Selkie AU? The large ocean liner wouldn't necessarily be the Titanic, but the version of it or something similar in the X-Men Siren universe...

Reader is on a boat, one so grand and large and opulent that uts considered the ship of dreams, and they're on their way to an unknown place, where hopefully they'll be safe, somehwere safe for all mutants... As they explore the ship, painting and drawing who they can and earning a but of coins, they meet so many odd and fantastic figures, with interesting stories and hidden depths, all of whom are going where they're going... a place called Genosha...

Yet, on a cold night in darkness, the ship strikes something-! And there's something, or multiple somethings, that seem to be aboard the ship, hastening it's demise... Reader fights to escape, to make it, to get off the sinking vessel and make it to a lifeboat...

But sadly, they pass away, before they can be saved, be it by humans or by the beings who waited so long for new members...

Reader reincarnates decades later, going on a replica of the infamous vessel that sunk and took most of its passengers and crew with it...

But waiting for them are old friends, who won't let them die this time, or escape their clutches...

(I'm not sure what to think of this au idea, but I love Titanic, I love sirens and mers and selkies, and I love the idea of opulent dinners and pretty dresses and the foreboding sense of doom hanging over it all... Reasons why I love it: Tony accidentally getting cursed with his ultimate fantasy is the funniest shit ever. I bet Amora is shaking her fists at the sky for not seeing that coming. As always, Sineala's writing is wonderful, the smut is great, and I really love how quickly Steve goes from being squicked out to being completely on board. I'm always a huge fan of Tony using his genius for kinky shit, and this fic is an excellent example of that. Plus, seeing how turned on Steve is just seeing what Tony is doing is amazing. Sun's more of the silly, happy, chirpy, curious fella

he's friendly if he likes you. But he's also a bit of a bitch. The type to sneak up on you from behind to scare or splash you just cuz he can and he thinks it's funny, it's all affectionate tho he can 100% be a sassy, passive-aggressive, sarcastic ASS if annoyed too bad (think more HW2 toxic, sass queen Sun)

he also has a beef with a surfing board, idk what that is about lmao

Moon is more of a collected, silent figure watching from the back

up until something catches his interest that is, whether in a positive or negative sense he's the quiet kid 101, doesn't talk, doesn't engage, looks at you like he's judging you constantly or planning your demise (it's both) and then he gets comfortable with you

he's very protective of the whole familiá and is like the first person to call when something wrong is going on there are very few ppl that can get to him and get the ✨ sillies ✨ out  (namely Sun, Earth & Solar in a special way; Monty too if he gets the pass into this AU) but once they do, he's a real chill guy, likes to tease and cause mischief too, for good measure 

Sun's & Moon's relationship between each other is more brotherly leaning

tho, everyone's just kinda adopted in and not actually related, mainly cuz they're all different species (and that's also the reason why they all typically stay in different 'ocean zones' and meet once one travels out too far 'n stuff)

they had a 'rough' start but progressively getting better, overall just really caring for one another and being siblings it's quite hard for me to explain it w/o bringing in like 3 years of the show kekw-

there is a Y/n option and they're just kinda whatever u want or need them to be but for now it's in its own AU's au bubble it's just not part of the 'canon' I have going on for it in the bg of this whole thing just for funzies stuff

I can imagine OWK in the mer AU, after he and Anakin get together, being like, OK, Force, *now* can we go back to being human? And the Force is like hmm, i'm not sure, this feels like- And Anakin is like *please*? For *me*?

honestly tho I feel like the worst thing for obi-wan would be that anakin takes so well to the mer-creature life. the ocean loves him. his fins are a rare gold and pearl color. fish just swim up to him during hunts. it’s like he was meant to be a mer (even though he’s bad at it at the beginning and needs obi-wan’s help)

so idk what feels better like is their end as them both Mers or both human again??? Anakin grew up hearing stories from a homesick obi-wan about this fantastical world and now he’s a part of it. Obi-wan has been loving the surface for half his life and he resents anakin a bit for giving that up to become a mer.

I’m open to suggestions on this part 100% I feel like the force!ocean is just meddlesome enough that either could happen depending on its whims
