Volkner could certainly said he had met enough people ( and ‘mons, really— ) through his life. Most likely he hasn’t seen it all just yet, but at least he’s seen enough as far as life experiences go. ( enough shit, even, he’d say if he was tired enough and it was already the darkest hours of night with nothing but dubious drinks to power through whatever insanity he was putting to paper and later on into parts and wires. )
By all means, the kid was one of the most normal people he’s seen, slightly more interesting choice of clothes aside. Most definitely more seemingly normal than most people he’s seen, especially when some villain teams come to mind. And yet. And yet.
“So...” just a tiny bit awkward as he tries to say just about anything. ( and then he said he didn’t need to work on his people skills. ) “Um... Sora, was it? Why are you around here?” ... Well, that’s one way to ask. Can’t say he didn’t try, even when Luxray stops trying to pinpoint what exactly this stranger smells of to stare at his trainer. He’s trying his best to have a semi normal conversation here, okay. “I mean— haven’t really seen anyone like you around here, doesn’t seem like the kinda place you’d be in, I guess? Or something like that. People usually only travel around for the gym challenges or contests, I think?”
( oh, roark would be on the floor if he heard him like this. goddamnit, he tried. )

ninjago characters i dislike/hate and why
☆ s2-7 lloyd
HIS GODDAMN FACE DUDE
i just physically CAN'T with his weird ass smile and his ugly haircut, it makes him so detestable (and looks like donald trump tbh)
also idk i get the fact that he's the main character and all but the way each season somehow managed to always revolve around him was pretty annoying, especially for 7 years old me whose favorite character was jay (bless season 6)
plus his vOICE?? like i know they kept his childish voice bc of the fact that his body grew faster in that one dinosaur episode but it was still unbearable
i like his new design tho! and i think his character is much more enjoyable in the most recent seasons!!
☆ s6 nya
okay i know i'm making myself lots of enemies with this one but i just can't help it
tbh i think the whole "nya is part of the team although she's a girl" was so SO great and much needed because she, indeed, isn't just "the girl ninja" and appeared to be very useful since the beginning of the show!!
however, it felt soooo forced at some point, like when she refuses to simply grabs jay's hand?? girl just take his goddamn hand it won't kill you and it doesn't mean your his gf
i know it was kind of on purpose but it just projects a ridiculous image of modern feminism, as if "feminists were too dumb and too much of dramaqueens to the point it puts ppl who just wanted to help in delicate situations" like..
☆ nice garmadon
his evil/oni ver is everything to me, but why does becoming nice prevents you from being hilarious like you used to be..
his outfit ate tho
☆ sora, arin and kai 2.0
okay first of all i'm not a huge fan of dr, but i keep watching since i crave ninjas content and i need to see pixal's comeback
those three are SO annoying i sigh everytime they get screen time, especially sora bc istg if they chose to not bring pixal back because of the fact that this b!tch is basically doing her job (less effectively ofc 😒) imma throw hands.
(this was me having beef with a lego fictional teenage girl btw)
☆ misako
i think the whole fandom gon agree with me but she is a shitty mother
wdym you left your baby???????? garmadon did too tbh but it wasn't really his fault so like.. it's ok i guess 😒 but misako? no excuse at all. if you wanted to do your stupid research you could've taken lloyd with you or at least visited him from time to time.
theres probably more but idk 🌺
bye? 🤨

My version of Aquaroth/Sephqua (explanation rant)
Felt like explaining how I got into it. It's interesting how Tumblr seems to support it quite a bit but Pinterest is like ??? to it.
I guess I initially just wanted a character that wasn't really involved in the main KH story to appreciate Aqua for who she is and what she does. Aqua seems to give a lot to others to the point where she sacrifices her own ideals and herself. And the in-game characters don't do much for her imo.
I do still support Terraqua so it's Sephqua in a universe where Terra never ends up reciprocating her feelings. I can't deny how many times I got annoyed at Terra for not really showing he cares about Aqua like, at all.
And then KH3 happened and a lot of stuff in it made me annoyed too. Examples include no apologies happening between her and the Wayfinder trio, Ven not showing much appreciation for her, her getting tossed around after vamping her up and bringing her back, the game shifting the focus onto Riku when she was finally pouring out her feelings, Sora and Kairi not even remembering her etc. I get that a lot of these things could have happened offscreen/isn't really justified but it still made me feel the game just kind of abandoned her/treated her as a plot device.
After seeing some fanmade content about Sephqua I tried exploring it myself. I admit that I haven't actually played/watched FF7 so I really only know Sephiroth based off his wiki page and existing Sephqua content. My interpretation of him is also a bit loose and more working off his KH2 almost non-existent screen time as an excuse for doing what I want with his character. At this point he would be similar to his pre-Nibelheim self with a touch of snark. He sees visions sometimes of his canon-verse self but hasn't gone through all of that in this universe and is still capable of redemption. He's merely "the darkness of Cloud" as the KH verse called it, trying to find his purpose in my makeshift universe. His age would be more ambiguous to make the pairing work better (though Aqua being stuck down there for 12 years makes up for the difference anyway)
And one of the biggest things was ANGST COMFORT FOR AQUA'S PAIN.
I like the idea of him meeting her in the Realm of Darkness, intrigued why she refuses to give up despite no one seeming to really care about her, etc. At first, he'd just treat her as something to pass the time and not really care about her well-being but that changes eventually. >w> He is also drawn to her strength both physically and mentally.
I imagine she would be guarded towards him at first but eventually let her walls down a tinsy bit. But then she'd be furious with herself for going against Master Eraqus' ideologies and being worried what he might think of her being acquainted with someone who's full of darkness. But she eventually learns to go after what she wants, not what someone else expects of her. I like that dynamic of Sephiroth teaching her to be more selfish and her helping him find his light again.
In the AU, I'd like to see something play out that didn't in KH, which was Aqua being saved after the others. Though it wouldn't really make sense how they'd reach Ven first but it would be satisfying to see the other two do something for her for once. Sephiroth would be with her getting out of there and have to earn the trust of the keyblade gang/get over the fact that he's with warriors of light. His god complex eventually fades overtime as his feelings develop for her.
I like the idea of the two of them learning each other's vulnerabilities overtime as well as how to trust each other. It would be really interesting to see Aqua helping Sephiroth uncover the truth behind his biological parents too.
Sephiroth's need for comfort with the lack of a proper motherly figure and Aqua's need for someone to properly appreciate and acknowledge her. They love each other for who they are, not who they're expected to be.
Another big thing for me is how their interactions would go. I'm a simple woman and like banter in relationships. > w < Sephiroth would tease her a lot and Aqua would get embarrassed easily.
That and I notice Aqua likes physical affection like hand holding and head patting in the games so it would be nice to have someone like Sephiroth who I imagine would be more hands on with her.
Not sure if anything I wrote here made sense. I typed this up pretty late. Gonna leave it there with one more doodle.
Refs are from Positively Yours, hana and a username that I don't really want to type publicly ^^;
Thanks for reading my spam! ; A ;

Straw Hat modern!AU v.1: Jobs and Random Bits of non-plot Headcanons
Yes I know Oda already gave a list and far be it from me to disagree with canon (/s) but hear me out
Jimbei - full-time activist, former soldier/bodyguard. Lorge. Still does work as a bouncer from time to time, this is how he meets Luffy.
(Does karate at the national level. Works out at Zoro's gym, teaches classes sometimes.)
Brook - musician, naturally. Classically trained, accidentally achieved popular fame after the band he was in with his old buddies for fun was scouted out. Lost his bandmates. :( Was depressed for years and just tuned pianos and guitars and other instruments until the Straw Hats brought joy to his life again.
Franky - freelance handyman. Is an engineer, has a engineering degree and certification, but no firm will hire him because he refuses to wear formal clothes (main client is the local university, they asked him only to work at night to avoid students and claims plausible deniability if he chooses not to wear shoes on his own job sites) but he doesn't mind his lot in life because fuck 'em anyway also because trauma and also he's in love with one of the profs
Robin - university professor, teaches history/linguistics/historical linguistics/archaeology. Has like four PhDs. Was wrapped up in some shadiness in Central America while a grad student, but does such high-quality work and is in love with her building's handyman that no one tries to get her in trouble for it
(Robin and Franky meet and bond over keeping the fucking ancient anthropology building both up to livable standards and eligible for the national heritage register. They talk A Lot about historical building materials and methods)
((Note I said 'up to livable standards' and not 'up to code'. Franky's nickname is short for 'Frankenstein' for what he's done to the building's wiring, though somehow it still works))
Chopper - third year med student at 15. Already accepted into the residency program Law is an attending at. Also, he has his driver's license now!! He's the DD for the Straw Hat crew when they go out to bars, and is also self-appointed booze coordinator and hits the brakes for people when he senses alcohol poisoning coming on. Not even Whitebeard Himself can argue when little Dr. Tony gives his super-serious little disapproving pout.
(No, a 15yo cannot legally drive at night, much less operate a car full of drunkards. No one tells him this because he takes the responsibility for the well-being of his friends so seriously, and also no one gives a shit, and also everyone else is drunk anyway.)
Sanji - sous-chef at Baratie (I know, I know, shocker) which is next door to Zoro's gym. He takes classes at the university so that he'll be able to run his own restaurant one day.
(If he finds the FUCKING SHITHEAD who's drawing that Sora, Warrior of the Sea-inspired comic in the school newspaper someone's gonna have to fake an alibi to get him out of murder charges. Even if he does approve of Germa 66's ugly designs and cries over Sora's successful escape and loving words to her lost son)
Usopp - physics major, art minor. Draws a weekly comic for the school newspaper called The Adventures of Sniper King. Picked up boxing due to high school requirements, works out at Zoro's gym.
(Yes it's him. He's got a yellow stripe painted down his back due to the vitriol Sanji spews at his pseudonym daily. He really didn't mean for it to take off! Sanji told them all his story once and Usopp was heartbroken because he lost his mom too and one day he got an itch and he drew a comic about what he thought Sora'd say to Sanji, or what he thought Banchina might say to him, or some weird combination--and then sent it instead of the next installment of Sniper King to his editor ON ACCIDENT and PEOPLE WANTED MORE and HE'S SO SORRY AND HE'S SO SCARED. SANJI'S GONNA KILL HIM AND USOPP WILL DESERVE IT)
((Sanji condemns him into being busboy at Baratie for a month and refuses to speak to him for three days. But he also gives him spicy ginger desserts every night for a week, because Usopp's Sora is truer to life than the original Sora in terms of the love she embodies, and because Stealth Black's rumored escape is shown in the light of triumph. Sanji could hear her in the monologue of Sora's thoughts to her son when she learned he'd escaped Germa 66's clutches. How proud she was that the circumstances of his birth and life hadn't chained him down forever. It was the first time since the age of 9 that he could clearly remember what she had sounded like because, whether through pure miracle or the shared sympathy of orphan-hood, Usopp had gotten her voice exactly right, and it soothed something old and hurting in Sanji to hear it.))
Nami - business/finance, computer science double major. She REALLY wanted to study geography and GIS systems but her family needs the money so she's tilted her dreams--she's going to build the most precise geographic information system in the WORLD and market it to rich assholes while "losing it" to low-income thieves in need.
Stole 50% of her college tuition and negotiated down the other half in a meeting the bursar's office can't actually quite remember fully? But it's their signatures on the papers.
Zoro - business major. Yes, it's as ridiculous as it sounds. No he is not passing any of his classes. But Kuina had been determined to inherit the dojo and keep it flourishing, even if her dad didn't think a woman could. Then she died; and Shimotsuki-sensei died when Zoro was in high school; and now Zoro has two dear friends' dreams on his shoulders, and damn his lack of an MBA or any common sense but he will succeed. Sanji, Nami, and Jimbe are helping.
He did rename the place, from just 'Shimotsuki Dojo' to Kuina's Asskickers, and opened it to all sports. All classes and all tournaments are co-ed, all ages. He tried to get "ASSKICKER" on the gym's competition uniforms/gi but some of his students are toddlers so that wouldn't fly, so he uses 2001 instead. People think it's the founding year and get very confused when the gym is technically 50+years old; 2001 = the number of fights Zoro lost to Kuina.
(Nami asks him why he didn't use "KUINA"; Zoro looks at her funny. "But that's not [male student example]'s name? Why would I put that on his back? Do you want people to get confused??")
((He does have Kuina's name stitched into his gi))
Luffy - biology major. HEAR ME OUT. Garp insisted he go to college for at least a semester and while still an undecided liberal arts major, Luffy discovered a whole BUILDING FILLED WITH COOL BUGS!!! AND PEOPLE GO OUT AND FIND THEM?? AND BRING THEM BACK!! THAT'S A JOB???? SO COOL!!!
So yeah. Technically he's on the road to become an entomologist, but is struggling due to his undiagnosed (but incredibly obvious) AuDHD and a lack of care for statistics (and math in general) and research writing (and reading/writing in general). Robin, Chopper, and Usopp are working HARD to get him to the general area of passing. Luffy also is getting a minor in Portuguese (which is his first language) because he plans on exploring the Amazon Rainforest looking for cool beetles when he graduates.
Ace - fire fighter with shady connections. (more later?)
Sabo - activist with much shadier connections. (more later?)
#jesus this turned out longer than i meant#op#one piece#opla#if you'd like#this is version 1#i'll write out v2 at a later date

Can I get headcanons for riku, sora, and ventus babysitting a really hyper kid while traveling different worlds?
Sorry for the small hiatus, college threw a lot of exam intervention at me after my winter mocks so I had to get all that done before I could think about you lovelies. Still, I'm here now! I'm so excited to do some writing about platonic love with the Kingdom Hearts cast!
Riku, Sora, and Ventus babysitting an energetic kid on their adventures HCs
Riku
Now, over the years, Riku has learnt to be patient with a lot of things: his energetic friends, the darkness, meddling villains, etcetera. But he never really expected to be dealing with children.
I can't say he'd be experienced at all, so, after defeating some Heartless attempting to attack a young child in a world, Riku wasn't entirely sure what to do.
They clung onto his leg with an enthusiastic smile, toothy and wild. They were so in awe of Riku's style of combat and the Keyblade itself that Riku almost couldn't get a word in edgewise. Eventually, he managed to ask them where they were from and where he should take them to.
The child told him they were from a different world, that they had been dragged into some sort of dark portal and transported to this strange place. And, though Riku knew he had other things to do as a Keyblade Master, he couldn't exactly leave a child in a strange place with no guardian - they sort of reminded Riku of himself from not too long ago. Lost, confused, vulnerable... This was his duty as a Keyblade Master, right? To protect the light and, therefore, the people of the future?
After bundling the excitable child into the Gummi Ship, Riku knew exactly which world they had mentioned and planned the correct route accordingly. However, the main issue Riku was facing was keeping the kid away from the many flashing lights on the ship's dashboard. He felt bad having to tell them off and drag them away from buttons that would forcibly eject their seats or open a door in the middle of the Lanes Between, but knew he'd much rather be seeing the kid's pout than lose them completely.
Once arriving at the correct world, Riku almost feels sad to let the kid go. Their excitement reminded him of Sora, and their unbridled curiosity reminded Riku of his younger self. He'd refuse to give them the power of the Keyblade purely out of kindness, not wishing his cruel life on this innocent child who knew nothing of darkness or war, but would offer them a way to contact him again.
Riku told them that, if their world was in ever danger or if someone they knew needed protecting from darkness, they could call for Riku using their heart and he would be there.
Sora
I'm not entirely sure if I would trust Sora with a child on his own, much less a hyperactive one. He's quick to notice the light heart in danger and jumps in to protect them, but doesn't know how to react to the clinginess that follows.
When the child starts to show interest in his Keyblade, that's when Sora starts to lighten up to the idea of having a little companion for a bit, even when he recognises that they have to return to their homeworld eventually. So, he sets up the Gummi Ship to head out to this world he's...never actually heard of. Oh no.
Sora might end up taking the child to a few worlds before getting to the right one, choosing to use his heart to guide him. Maybe he also wanted to spend some more time talking to his new friend, but an excuse is always nice.
The two spend their entire journey together chatting about Sora's life and the Keyblade as well as the child's life in their homeworld. Sora adores talking about all the adventures he's gone on and about his friends, and the child watches and listens with stars in their eyes, perhaps sitting in Sora's lap as he (tries) to pilot the Gummi Ship.
Throughout every world, the two hold hands. Sora is eager not to lose such an innocent soul and he makes sure to fight off any darkness while he's there while he's at it. The child watches on in awe and might even try to copy him with a blunt stick on a big rock while Sora is asking townspeople about the child's home.
When the two eventually reach the child's home, Sora isn't excited to let them go, but he's glad they can get back to having a normal life, relieved that they have a nice home to return to. He makes a promise to return one day with the famous "paopu fruit" that Sora mentioned.
Ventus
As someone eager to prove himself to others as mature and reliable, Ventus immediately jumps at the chance to protect the child and swoops in to save the day. Of course, he also just can't sit idly by and watch someone as innocent as a child get hurt by the darkness.
At first, he's not quite sure how to take all the new attention. The praise is strange and it really warms Ventus' heart with a type of pride he never knew he was capable of feeling. He might take a while to take the child away from the world he found them in because he's too busy showing them how he fights with a Keyblade. Maybe he's showing off, but it's nice to have someone cheer for you.
Still, Ventus knows the child is someone with their own life and they absolutely need to return to the people that love them. So, he shows the kid something even cooler than the Keyblade: his Keyblade glider and armour. He places his helmet on their head to protect the kid from the darkness in the Lanes Between and tells them to hold on. They kid laughs heartily the entire time, thoroughly enjoying the ride through the Lanes Between.
With no real way to navigate the Lanes Between and differentiate between where worlds are, Ventus has to entirely rely on both his heart and the child's, asking them various questions about whether they feel closer to home or not. It takes a while, but the fun, exciting ride makes it all worth it.
When they arrive at the kid's homeworld, Ventus makes it his mission to speak to their guardian, making up some story or another about finding them somewhere in the world. He makes a pinkie promise with the child to never ever talk about what they did together, promising that they'll definitely do it again when they're older.

Digimon shipping dynamic game
@valtren: “Can I request Joe and Mimi? :)”
Oh, that’s a good one, thanks for the request, I’ll dive right into it!
Send me two names among the following 12 and I’ll write a short analysis post about them:
Taichi Yagami | Yamato Ishida | Sora Takenouchi | Koushirou Izumi | Mimi Tachikawa | Jyou Kidou | Takeru Takaishi | Hikari Yagami | Daisuke Motomiya | Miyako Inoue | Iori Hida | Ken Ichijouji
Whether canon provides input on them or not:
You absolutely bet it does, which is one of the main reasons why it baffles me they’re not more popular to begin with. One might argue that it’s because of their age difference, but we shall get to that later, let’s start at the beginning, shall we: It’s more subtle at the beginning of Adventure, but Jyou’s and Mimi’s path are crossing one another quite frequently due to various reasons. First of all, they are implied to have known each other before entering the Digital World, as Jyou calls Mimi out for carrying the food rations he was supposed to give her and the novel even makes a point about them having been assigned to the same group together, thus making him basically her superior. We do have a power dynamic at play here and for a good chunk of the anime, they’re mainly set up to be comic relief towards/with each other (sometimes with Sora or other characters added to the mix), nothing really goes too deep so far - until we get to the Dark Masters’ arc. Both of them have been confronted with their priority systems throughout the Vamdemon arc - and this set up theme will stick with them for the rest of the series, intertwining at several points.
Jyou has been struggling with his sense of responsibility (just like Sora); he’s unsure whether or not he can be the leader he expects himself to be for the others or whether he wants to become a doctor just like his father expects of him, thus questioning his purpose. Mimi on the other hand goes through an arc of self discovery that begins with her refusing to fight and see more loved ones die - and Jyou decides to stay behind with her, joining her on that journey that makes both of them come to the conclusion that there are things they may not like or may not be good at, but that they have to find a solution for themselves. For Jyou, that’s committing to his own path, choosing it for himself, accepting that leadership and fighting may not be his primary way to support - for Mimi, it’s finding a middle ground, because sacrifices may be necessary sometimes, but that doesn’t mean that she can’t figure out her own way to support.
It’s a subtle, but amazing set-up, that displays them getting closer to and more familiar with one another, understanding and supporting each other’s choices and ways of being, figuring out their “purposes” outside of being “main fighters” - with tiny hints of growing affection in between as well. That is why their scenes in the second Tri movie actually work, even if they admit that they have already been there before - they are able to open up to each other, because they’ve BEEN through so much (together) already.
Mimi admires Jyou for prioritizing what he does (= staying away from the group to be a responsible adult) and Jyou admires Mimi for being straightforward with what she wants (= being enthusiastic and trying to convinve others that what she’s considering to be “good” is a good choice for them as well). Even if neither of them are happy with themselves at that point in time, struggling with their own ideas of “selfishness”. But they actually do take each other for what they are. Surely Mimi had her own moments of doubting Jyou’s capabilities here and there at the VERY beginning, but that shifted completely by the end of 01; neither of them has to change for the sake of the other or play a role - and they are aware of that, hence why I chose the screenshot above. Their arcs, while more in the back, are intertwined to some degree and their resolutions are, in my humble opinion, also the reason why they’re among those that do NOT struggle with their career choices in the end and are not threatened by the fate of losing their partners by the time of Kizuna.
Long story short - there is A LOT of setup for them. And I’ve only talked about their story related purposes so far...
Whether I think why and how they’d work:
In case my little love letter about their relationship hasn’t convinced you yet - I am very much convinced that they’re working out wonderfully as an established couple. While their dynamic, as fun and humourous as it is often portrayed to be, works very well on a platonic level in my book, there are several aspects that make me adore them even more on a romantic level.
As mentioned above, throughout 01 and 02, the sense of familiarity and openness between these two grows significantly - even if the age gap exists and even if Jyou tries very hard to maintain his senpai-ish attitude towards Mimi to stay composed, she’s not really fazed by that. On the contrary, Jyou is among the few characters she’s being most physical and affectionate with, only topped by Sora, Miyako and Meiko at best and those are all girls thus supporting my headcanon that Mimi is a raging bisexual with a preference for women, but Jyou is the non-plus-ultra main exception. Canon even supports that by constantly making her display her love language - “giving gifts” - towards Jyou, whether it’s nuts or candies or even very loving hugs... Jyou easily gets affected by that and blushes on several occasions, making it quite difficult to not sense mutual adoration and fondness for one another. Especially because he’s obviously very protective of her.
And since they’re both among the few characters who’re actually genuinely OPENING UP to one another about their fears and doubts in both 01 and Tri, their crests - of Sincerity and Reliability - are basically the proof for why I can see them being a wonderful romantic combination: They are there for and believe in each other, they enjoy being in each other’s company, they’re communicative and can even call one another out on what bothers them, they don’t shy away from physical touch - and they complement each other. Where Mimi can be brash, Jyou can act as the voice of reason that gets her back on earth - where Jyou gets doubtful and anxious, Mimi is a ray of positivity and forwardness. (They may butt heads because of their differences too, but as mentioned above, I consider them to be communicative enough to be able to deal with that and get over their differences. I don’t see the same level of readiness and patience in Mimi when it comes to other characters, except maybe Sora.)
They can both be incredibly judgemental together as well, thus calling out the rest of the group for being too adventurous/engaging in dangerous activities, thus making them quite a power couple - even if they’re literally more at the back than others. As adults, they’re more grounded in reality, their priorities and passions - and thus they can only make each other better through that, even if they may have to deal with some long distance shenanigans for a while. Their hobbies might actually also be quite different, but in the end, they could still come together for late night calls, with Jyou falling asleep while Mimi would soothe him after a long, stressful day at work.
Tl;dr: I love them and kinda wish Tri didn’t go so hard on ship teasing in different directions, trying very hard to keep these two apart in text, while the subtext basically told us that they’re amazing for each other.
Whether I’d prefer them as platonic or romantic ship:
I quite obviously prefer them romantically, but if canon were to go into different directions, I could still live with that as long as they maintained the bond that had so lovingly bloomed between them throughout all this time.

Me: /sees today's yesterday's prompt
Me: /maniacal cackling
Me: YOU FOOL, YOU’VE ACTIVATED MY TRAP CARD
aka AUs, Time Travel, and identity shenanigans are my biggest interests in any fandom at all so KH drew me in for a reason. This will be fun. Enjoy or suffer through my rambling about my main AU. I apologize for the length, but there’s a reason I had the immediate reaction I did.
Also sorry it’s a day late, yesterday was thesis presentations and then I was dragged out to drinks and karaoke after by my classmates so I didn’t have time to finish this.
@khoc-week Day 4: Alternate Universes
Hahahaha my first KH au I made when I was 15 and then spiraled WILDLY out of control after KHUX finished and DR happened.
So this au started as one of those “what if someone from our world died and reincarnated as a main character” fics that were so popular in the 2010’s, but over time it changed significantly. The main premise is still the same, girl from our world dies to a Heartless that really shouldn’t have been there and her heart makes a conveniently timed connection with Ven, and then reincarnates as Sora. Except it’s not quite as convenient as it seems because Kingdom Hearts itself is meddling.
Because her heart was actually Etheria’s.
This is my biggest KH au that’s lasted almost ten years now, it’s extremely self-indulgent and I keep making adjustments to it as we get new info, but I think I have it plotted out solidly. It’s also the one that’s technically canon to my keykids.
So, KHUX happens as it does, no real changes beyond Etheria and Ephemera finishing up Game Central Station together and coming back to Daybreak Town in time to trigger the finale. Etheria traps the darknesses in the tunnel, they wound her fatally, she dies holding Chirithy, etc.
The change comes with what’s next. Because Nomura BAITED US and I had an entire year to sit on my plans before the Dark Road finale dropped and ruined them all, and I decided “screw it, I can work around this”. And kind of. Threw out canon to a degree.
Yiskah is reincarnated after the Keyblade War as the Missing Link protag, so whatever reveals we get there will be his story. Etheria reincarnates as Xehanort, because I had PLANS NOMURA. So ML happens, Yiskah takes Xehanort to Destiny Islands, all of this will probably follow canon pretty closely. Dark Road also happens as canon, Xehanort having Etheria’s heart doesn’t really change much because these events “need” to happen. Whether it’s Darkness pulling the strings or KH itself… who knows. But DR happens pretty much as canon, and the post-events are where we get our first major split into AU territory.
When Xehanort goes on his lonesome trip around the worlds, trying to gain perspective, it starts as canon with him meeting MoM. But afterwards, when he returns to the Keyblade Graveyard, it’s not the Master of Masters that’s waiting for him but our single unaccounted for Darkness. His trip through the worlds was supposed to make him fall to darkness, make him decide to recreate the war, but because he has Etheria’s heart he… doesn’t. So Darkness takes matters into its own hands and tries to take him over. Naturally he fights back, refuses to let it, so it decides the more optimal route would be to simply remove that problematically light heart and simply claim his body for itself and pretend to be him.
So that happens. He dies, and it’s Darkness in his body who returns to Scala to take the Mark of Mastery with Eraqus, and kick off the next phase of canon.
Etheria/Xehanort’s heart ends reincarnating as a girl on a sort of… reflection of our world, losing their memories upon reincarnating as is supposed to happen, and growing up to be a fan of a certain video game series until dying to a Heartless who was drawn specifically to their heart because Events Are Happening (Ven just got his heart broken and Kingdom Hearts needs someone to go fix it, and who better than an old friend and its valiant champion? Etheria surviving the Keyblade War and her heart touching KH directly in the process was not a good thing for her, just to point that out.) So her heart comes in contact with Ven, shares part of it to fix his, and in the process kind of breaks the usual reincarnation rules so she keeps her memories of this past life, and the thus the memories of the Kingdom Hearts game series.
So at this point: Alana becomes Sora and knows absolutely nothing about being Etheria or Xehanort, but does remember being from “our world”. The Xehanort of this AU is just Darkeness using his identity to push the plot it read in the Book, because that’s What’s Supposed To Happen. For the sake of ~Drama~ I’m going to say she’s caught up to canon for everything except the Final Update of KHUX. To everyone who remembers that cliffhanger they did between the first half of the finale and the second… yeah. Imagine dying and reincarnating into that universe missing HALF THE FINALE OF KHUX and over half of Dark Road. It is endlessly frustrating to them, Ven, and Vani.
From here canon… happens similarly, but also different.
KH1 has Riku being possessed much earlier because Sora convinces him to come back, and Maleficent and Ansem SoD don't like that. Kairi and Ven are both awake and helping, so there's that. Kairi is part of the final battle as an active keyblade wielder, even if she gets pulled home after.
CoM happens very differently because Vanitas is awake with Ven gone in Roxas, so he's Solana's companion while Namine can see Alana's memories and knows far more than she should because of it. She finds so many loopholes to allow Alana to keep memories of CoM, even if Sora's have to be broken later.
KH2 has Xion and Roxas awake and joining Ven and Vani, and things get loud. Roxas takes every chance to try to fight the Organization, drive forms are between the Heart Hotel rather than Donald and Goofy, and Kairi joins the party halfway through after kicking Axel through a wall. She joins them for the final fight against Xemnas too, and then opens the portal for them home.
Solana is busy having a guilt-induced breakdown about their parents never coming back from the islands falling to darkness to participate in Re:Coded, but they do meet the apprentices and start making peace between them and the Restoration Committee when they show back up. They and Ienzo get along... really really well, to their surprise.
DDD is a mess, because the dream world gives the Heart Hotels bodies and they are actively participating in the Mark of Mastery along with Sora, Riku, and Kairi. Ienzo was paranoid enough to make a secondary link with Solana before it started, so when Yen Sid lost contact with them Ienzo could make link so they could see everything happening. Canon happens and it SUCKS. Solana has much trauma from YMX.
KH3 is wildly different, because People Know Things, and Death Deities Are Weird Around Solana (aka Hades and Persephone are closer to their myth forms, and make a deal with Solana about nine death avoidances for a favor, so they only use the power of waking once at the end rather than to save everyone), and Aqua and Ven are rescued before Arendelle so they've got half the game to catch their breath before the war.
And because Darkness is Xehanort, the scene with Eraqus is very different because Solana flat out steals the keyblade from Xehanort at the end of their battle - the same way Riku does from Sora in KH1 - and stabs him with it. No soft scene here, just murder. Eraqus does show up, reassuring Aqua and Terra, but Kairi and Ven swapped places in this AU as the sacrificial being of Pure Light, so... it's much rougher on the Wayfinder Trio. Solana gets him back, though, ala canon, but that's the tenth revival after the first nine so they will disappear eventually, it just won't be immediate since they only did it once. Gives them time to hang out, get Ienzo to put some cameras in the Graveyard to catch the Foreteller meetup, do a heart dive to figure out their weird dreams and accidentally get their memories of KHUX and DR both back to the shock and horror of everyone, and then disappear.
I want you to know that this is the short version, because the longer version accidentally turned into a plot outline.

5-minute thoughts on every ygo show?
Duel Monsters: The OG, which we must respect. Lots of incredibly interesting concepts packed into a fun series overflowing with style, but holy shit, it does not hold up without twelve shots of nostalgia blurring your vision. There's lots of great, iconic moments that will live on in people's hearts forever, but for every minute of Peak Television, there's thirty more of boring B plots and nonsensical plot writing. Battle City deserves to be remembered fondly, but it was consistently downhill from there.
Favorite character: the Spirit/Bakura. Always a delight to have on screen, elevated every scene he was in, even at the series' wonkiest.
GX: My original favorite! GX is a wild ride of highs, lows, and absurdity. The non-plot essential episodes here are a lot more fun than those of DM, and it made great use of the inherent absurdity of the setting (boarding school for learning a children's cardgame) to go completely bananas. It is a lot of fun to rewatch season two and three, which are packed with fun side characters, crazy antics, and of course, Judai's endless charisma. While far from perfect, every time I revisit it, I can't help but think the whole series is incredibly charming.
Favorite character: Judai. Special mention to O'Brien and Jim, though—they're my special little guys.
5Ds: The one I don't know too well, because I don't remember much of it and I've never managed to rewatch more than a few episodes at a time before dropping it. Everyone always praises it, but I just can't get into it. Zero appeal to me. Yusei seems cool, I guess.
Favorite character: Aki
Zexal: The best one. Like, objectively—yeah, I know, I refused to accept that at first too! I didn't want Zexal to be the best YGO either! But it is! It just is! I've rewatched it many times, thinking, "this time, with a more critical eye, I will realize its not that good!" but NO, it is that good—hell, I think it actually gets better every time you watch it! Which is crazy, 'cause so many of the first ~30 episodes are so so bad. But then it just gets better with every storyline! I could go on for hours about how much I love Zexal now; the setting, the cast, the plot. What seemed like a conflict between aliens actually turning out to be a war between heaven and hell was the sickest plot twist of all time.
Favorite character: Shark/Nasch, no contest. But shout out to everyone else too: Zexal has by far the best cast of any of the YGOs.
Arc-V: The disappointment. The opposite of Zexal. While Zexal starts with its weakest batch of episodes, Arc-V starts with its strongest, and its all downhill from there. So many duels in the first 50 episodes are just incredible, and there's so much intrigue, and every episode left you wondering. And then it just...struggles and flails its way to the end. Very little of ending is in anyway satisfying. If I think about it too much I get frustrated.
Favorite character: Sora! Sora does so much of the heavy lifting in keeping the plot of this series moving when everyone else seems determined to bring it to a screeching halt and nobody gives him enough credit for that.
Vrains: Ah, Vrains. If Arc-V started strong and ended by dragging its own corpse over the finish line, Vrains was struggling to keep its head above water from the start. Its an almost impressive blend of fantastic main characters with great depth (Yusaku, Ryoken, Ai) and the worst supporting cast you've ever seen. What characters weren't bad from conception get fumbled horribly at every opportunity. And yet, the conflict of the first season remains incredibly compelling. Yusaku and Ryoken's relationship remains one of the most fascinating I've seen in fiction. Unfortunately, its blatantly clear that the writers didn't have a plan. Big 'first draft' vibes. Could have been drastically improved if the writers had, you know, allowed the other Origins and Ignis to do things instead of giving Aoi three costume changes.
Favorite character: Yusaku. Love him.

I always wonder why SQEX use the title 'Crisis' to almost every prequel of FF7, i.e Crisis Core, Before Crisis, Ever Crisis. Is 'crisis' really implied toward Sephiroth?
Also, I'm apprehensive on playing the next part of FF7R because I don't want to beat up poor Sephy again (TT_TT). No matter how many ppl say he is strong or evil, to me he's just a poor baby.
But I'll definitely play when SQEX decide to release a sequel where Sephiroth as the main character. I even got in a habit of apologizing to the monitor whenever I finally defeat Seohiroth. Am I weird? Does anyone else feels like this?
No anon, don't feel weird about being yourself~!
༻❁༺ Crisis Cutie's Favorite Word?
Personally, I think "Crisis" could be applied as a collective term to FF7's cast. It's definitely one of Sephiroth's special words alongside reunion and despair, though. We know little about Sephiroth's role in EC now, but I wonder if his story arc will be another variant of his identity crisis, like in Crisis Core and Before Crisis. It'd certainly be an emotional crisis regardless, though.
I feel you on Sephiroth but at the same time; I understand the need to put him down, and it brings such heavy feelings to my heart. 💔💔💔 I've noticed that almost no one seems to give Sephiroth any empathy, even Aerith, who's pretty much the Sora of the series.
Sephiroth's actions brought everyone deep sorrow and crisis. It's clear why they felt such despair and hatred towards him. Quick disclaimer, I'm not blaming anyone or anything here, just pointing something out. Also Aerith just knows there is no turning Sephiroth from the path of evil. In 7R, she's completely right when she told him that everything about him was wrong, in every sense.
༻❁༺ Cycle of Pain
I knew Vincent indirectly expressed empathy (from what I remembered). He understood how the circumstances of Sephiroth's birth lead him to who he is. That's why he couldn't bring himself to confront Lucrecia with the harsh reality of what her son had become...
And we as the audience have the benefit of seeing both sides of the story. I understand why Sephiroth's trauma of abandonment, emotional abuse, and killing/fighting was became much to bear, leading to his breakdown in Nibelheim.
And I can imagine the despair and fury that Tifa and Cloud experienced when Sephiroth committed his abhorrent acts at Nibelheim. Tifa refused to be part of the cycle of pain that Sephiroth kept alive, and instead extended a hand to Cloud, saving him from his own descent. Without the bonds that Cloud had built, he could have easily become like Sephiroth.
Vincent, like Tifa, made the decision to break the cycle for himself. Despite his broken bonds and difficult circumstances, he was able to stay true to his inner goodness and remain on the path of good.
༻❁༺ Another Crisis Game Please!
I would love to play a game starring Sephiroth. Honestly, I think Crisis Core should've been the game for the First Class Boyos. It just had too much going on within the plot (IMO) and the game suffered from the constraints of originally being a handheld game. Zack is a great character, but honestly, he was just "there" a lot of times. He only took a permanent, active role closer to the end, which he had to for plot reasons. And I loved it!
Zack saw the results of his attempt to live heroically and play by the rules... It had not brought him to his hoped-for destination. He tried so hard to endure the terrible events and he did! But his prize was death and betrayal. Like Aerith, he was just too good for the world... It's interesting how similar his death is to hers. They faced immense hardships, but their powerful sense of morality and bonds kept them true to themselves while dying for a selfless and noble cause.
Honestly, the whole main cast of FF7 needs a fountain of hugs.

.hack//YGO Characters, Classes, and Archetypes (Part I)
(aka the main reasons why I rotate this AU in my brain every damn night)
I have decided to be particularly passionate about this AU because it works so well and Quill (@themadcaptain) and I have been bouncing ideas off of each other on and off about this...... the more we learn about The World and the .hack// franchise, the more I fall deeper into this idea of all these card game nerds playing a high-stakes mmo (instead of the usual high stakes card games)
Below the cut is what we think their mmo classes would be, or what characters they would be based on!
disclaimer: neither of us have played past the original ps2 games or watched past .hack//SIGN, so we have no idea what the newer classes are or how they would synergize with these characters;;; however all of this is subject to change once we eventually play the .hack//G.U. remaster
First of all, Ryou as a Wavemaster is the #1 reason this au even exists. I mean, look at these designs, they were MADE for him:
Left to Right: Kazu from .hack//Legend of the Twilight (manga); Elk from the .hack//Games; Tsukasa from .hack//SIGN
Just guys and gals with loose fitting clothing, silly hats, and a big staff. It's absolutely right up his alley, particularly what we've seen from small bits in the Monster World Arc and the Duelist Kingdom Arc:
Ryou just likes being a mage and a healer. He demands it, and who am I to tear him from that path?
He uses the handle Amane in The World - a tribute to his little sister :')
Speaking of light magic users, Yugi as a Twin Blade makes perfect sense. Twin Blades are among the most balanced classes in The World, with decent attack stat growth and magic stats... very much a "jack of all trades" kind of class. While they can't equip the strongest weapons/armor or use higher level magics, twin blades are absolutely pro at fast multi-hit attacks, and can exploit elemental weaknesses in enemies.
Yugi uses the handle Kameshi in The World, though I may change this to something more fitting later; it's written using the kanji 亀嗣 (is this how Japanese works?)
There are quite a few Twin Blade designs - beforehand, I only had knowledge of these two Twin Blade characters:
From Left to Right: Sora from .hack//SIGN; Kite from the .hack//Games
But then I saw Haseo from .hack//ROOTS and the .hack//G.U. games and... well...
I MEAN...
(Also, peep that eye wave design on Haseo's shoulder... it's an extremely plot-relevant wave design... but I'm just saying, that could very easily be mistaken at first glance for the udjat or wedjat eye.....)
And of course Atem would also have the same Twin Blade skin, but their wave designs would be mirrored... if you're familiar with the .hack//Games, he's playing a similar role as Helba, a mysterious hacker who helps out the main protagonists with the Data Bugs in the system, as well as with facing off against the main antagonist.
(In some early concept art below, I gave him a snake mask - most of The World is rooted in Germanic myths, but I wanted to have this AU's version of The World have more Egyptian mythos, so Atem's avatar is known as Apophis.)
(In this early concept art I gave him an avatar similar to Sora's, but I've decided against that after all.)
(Debatable.)
I've also talked a bit about Kaiba in my last post, and I am absolutely slapping him firmly into the role of Balmung - one of the most famous players in The World and the one who has been combating the Data Bugs alone, refusing to work with the hackers who have been fighting the common enemy. I imagine his avatar looks incredibly similar to Balmung's as well, although I don't think he would be a Blademaster... or maybe he would? I picture him as a Long Arm, mostly because it gives me Dragoon vibes, but idk!
Staying firmly with the Egyptian myth theming, his handle is Set (of the Azure Eyes).
Pictured: Balmung of the Azure Skies, as he appears in the .hack//XXXX manga and concept art from the .hack//Games
Helba and Balmung have some fun dialogue at the start of the .hack//Games... so I'd imagine things would be a lot snarkier between Apophis and Set...
I really don't go to Prideshipping School but UHHHHHHH I may have to start???
And uhhh... wow this post got really long... I'll continue with the others in a future post! If you managed to stick around and read all this - thank you for indulging me! :') <3
#Renae rambles#Renae sketches#.hack//ygo#just need to get this all down before I go dizzy from everything in my brain#will get to the rest of the Nerd Herd (+Miho!) another time!#as well as other characters!#I'm having way too much fun with this

@roarofancients:
A glance over at Kion, "Fraid not, at least that part. But, seems Scar is willing to help show what happened with him, and what he had been hearing..." On cue Kion walked up to them, "Not all stars are always visible. We always see the ones of light, but the reverse exist as well. Stars of Shadow, Dark Stars... Scar was a star out there, dark one though not of his choice. Anyways, he wishes to narrate or speak when the scenes shown of his time as roughly a teen leading up to the confrontation with yourself Dad, fight for the throne." Closing his eyes to focus, thus allowing Scar to speak through him - while Sora uses his key power again, the scene changes to the Outlands. Young Taka-Askari, patrolling alone with a Mark of the Guard. Meeting the strange lion, scarred eye. They spoke to him about wisdom, power, and that the most powerful should be king.
"Despite my facial expression then, I had intended to alert my king brother. What changed that though, well... See for yourself" Scar's voice came.
Indeed, a strange black cobra lunged. The young leader at the time trying to dodge the snake, almost succeeded but the snake still hit target. "Not all what affected me, but that venom is the main thing. Had the scar before, it healed as if I never had it. Until this time." Scar again. "Couldn't think, and I rather... hate being used, tricked like that. So, I roared using the roar in a rage. Lost control of the power, and as you can see that volcano erupted back then too."
Back at Pride Rock now, young Scar reported to Mufasa. Yet Mufasa just tease little brother with the nickname Scar now, and using his paw to push down Scar's head - which he obviously hadn't appreciated, young Mufasa strutting off after that Scar had caught sight of sealed the fates. "And, how and when I really became Scar, was right then. I don't mind the teasing so much, as I had the paw push and the way he strutted then..."
Trying to take to his Lion Guard at the time, who refused to understand Scar's side of things and out of frustration lost control again of the roar, using it on his own Guard and losing the mark and roar thereafter. "Am surprised really, how they let Kion keep his despite some of the things he's done, even as a cub; which should have resulted in the loss of the mark and roar. Thing is, my roar then didn't kill the Guard so rather unfair of the lions of the past to take it away."
The scene now a bit further in time, Scar with a young lion looking much like Simba now except for the dark mane, and still much younger. Both hunting, gazelle or zebra. Out of nowhere, a wildebeest stampede. "While I avoided the majority of that, my son Takashi wasn't... so lucky. He still alive after the herd passed, but barely. As you can see, he died in my paws. This was still some time before you were born, Simba" Scar voice. Genuine upset at the scene. "And thus why I generally dislike wildebeest species" Sometime later when little newborn cub Simba born, and their presentation. And the confrontation between Scar and Mufasa after, "Never would've ate that bird. Just scare him at best. And besides, Zazu can be a bit of an annoyance. Regardless, reason I wasn't at the presentation... Brother forgot I had set my own anniversary settings, that day... was an anniversary of my own son's death, so you see..."
Later scene changes off to somewhere in the grassland plains, wildebeest grazing and a young calf curiously asks mother about the birds being allowed on their backs gaining the response that they're a community, and the birds help get the bugs off of them. The calf chasing after a bird that flies off, unaware of a certain male prowling.
watching from the grass and brooding about his earlier confrontation with his brother, Mufasa. Suddenly, Scar pounced, and Thema's son yelled for his mother. Just in time, Thema arrived and intercepted Scar's attack, knocking him away from her calf. She begged Scar to fight her instead of her son, and he confessed that he was not attacking them out of hunger, but because he had had a bad day and had chosen random "peasants" to have an even worse day.
Before Scar could attack again, Thema gave a call of alarm, and her herd charged toward Scar, jostling and kicking him until he lay, half-trampled, at the edge of a gorge. From his prone position, Scar lamented how he had been beaten by an inferior species and grudgingly acknowledged that even overwhelming numbers could beat power and royalty. As he found his feet, Scar realized that Thema had lingered behind and told her that even the "dumbest of beasts" knew to run from a predator. In answer, Thema proclaimed that she had stayed to see him fall and explained that it was not her herd's numbers that had beaten him, but her love for her community. She then charged at Scar and knocked him into a gorge.
"Might have noticed, that one was far higher up than the one I used on family... But, I hit my head quite hard then... never was the same after that, aware now that likely brain damage resulting in my aggression and such after then. But, now you get to see the nightmare I had..."
Crystalized dreamscape, yet glowing eyes watching unblinkingly from the sky. Scar awaking in the dream,
wandering the landscape, Scar spotted Mufasa on Pride Rock and called out to him. Approaching his brother, Mufasa demanded that Scar address him as the king, but Scar protested that he was supposed to be the king. Outraged, Mufasa attacked Scar and commanded him to bow before him and his son, Simba. Scar questioned where they were, and Mufasa started to walk away, explaining that they were in a "kingdom of woe," a place fit for a "faux king" such as Scar. Though Scar begged Mufasa to stay and asserted that he was destined to rule, Mufasa reminded his brother that it was Simba's destiny to rule and that Scar's destiny was his own.
Meanwhile, two vultures named Kabeer and Krass circled Scar's fallen form and debated whether he was dead or not. Together, they approached his body and found that he was still breathing but in critical condition. The two proceeded to mock him for having been killed by "livestock" and for having lost the throne of Pride Rock to a cub. Just then, Kabeer got an idea and told Krass that, were Scar to become the king, he would desolate the Pride Lands and leave behind enough carcasses for the vultures to feast on.
As a storm moved in overhead, Kabeer pointed out that they could feast on Scar's carcass if he died or take credit for saving him and help him become the king of Pride Rock if he lived. Kabeer worried, however, that they would need something to offer Scar, like muscle and numbers, in order to convince him. As one, Kabeer and Krass suggested recruiting the "bone eaters."
Just then, Rafiki approached and ordered the vultures to get away from Scar. Using his staff, he beat the two until they flew off in a panic. Once Kabeer and Krass had gone, Rafiki knelt beside Scar and commented that the prince's actions had once again brought "dark clouds" upon him.
Later, at Rafiki's tree, Scar awoke in dismay from his vision. As he reared up, roaring, Rafiki cracked a baobab fruit open on his head, and Scar scoffed that he would be justified in mauling Rafiki for having struck a prince. Rafiki simply retorted that, if Scar tried to attack him, he would use the prince's head to open another baobab fruit. Recognizing the baobab fruit as what had been used to anoint Simba, Scar demanded that Rafiki tell him that he was the rightful successor to the throne of Pride Rock and the wisest lion in all the land. Rafiki complimented Scar's cunning but cautioned that his jealousy and hatred "murked the waters" of his soul and that his dark choices overshadowed his potential.
Incited, Scar reminded Rafiki that he had been training his entire life to replace Mufasa, only to get tossed aside, and demanded to know if his legacy should be sacrificed for the sake of tradition. Instead of answering Scar's questions, Rafiki urged him to sit and drink a healing mixture. After settling down, Scar commented that it was not fair, and Rafiki agreed, adding that a cub should enjoy his youth rather than worry about ruling a kingdom. Scar implored Rafiki to help him take over Pride Rock, but Rafiki warned Scar that his jealousy and ego led him to do terrible things. Taking this as Rafiki siding with Mufasa, Scar departed the tree. As he walked away across the Pride Lands, Kabeer and Krass flew overhead and resolved to introduce him to the bone eaters.
"Yes. Rafiki and I were once friends, not unlike how you and him are these days." A side-smirk, voice still Scar's.
While grazing with his herd, Elder confessed to an associate that he sensed a foreboding change in the air. His associate asked if his feelings related to the birth of Simba, the prince heir of Pride Rock, but Elder clarified that he was more worried about the previous heir, Scar, having lost power. He added that Mufasa was the only one who could protect the Pride Lands from Scar's reckless behavior.
Just then, Elder's associate picked up the scent of some nearby lionesses and sounded the alarm. Though the herd fled, the lioness Sofi managed to score a catch, and the huntresses paid tribute to their fallen prey. As they began to eat, the lioness Tish asked the hunting party's leader, Adea, if Mufasa and Sarabi would be joining them, but Adea explained that they were with the main hunting party. Sofi commented that two hunts seemed wasteful and that such a move was not in character for Adea, and she sadly agreed.
At that moment, Scar approached and mocked the lionesses for having performed a ritual for their prey. Adea reminded Scar that they performed the ritual out of respect for their prey as well as tradition and the throne, but he countered that, according to tradition, they should eat last, with the cubs. Though he asserted that the lionesses would eat like queens under his rule, Adea silenced him and chided herself for not having joined the royal hunting party. Scar argued that he was royalty, to which Adea called him a "bitter, selfish scavenger." Enraged, Scar attacked her, and the other lionesses ordered him to stay away from her. After the fight, the three lionesses left Scar to their catch, and Sofi remarked on how fortunate it was that Simba had been born and that Scar would never rule the Pride Lands.
"Well, she did insult me. Why would I not respond to such insults in such a way," head shake a bit.
With the lionesses gone, Kabeer and Krass approached Scar, and Kabeer dismissed the lionesses as "ungrateful females." Scar retorted that the lionesses filled his belly and asked what purpose the vultures served. At this, Kabeer formally introduced himself and Krass, and told Scar that they could help him become king. Suspicious, Scar asked for elaboration, and the vultures implored him to use the "bone eaters" as his secret weapon. Recognizing that the vultures were referring to hyenas, Scar dismissed the idea, but the vultures insisted that they were friends with a hyena and that Scar could fill a vacuum in their clan's leadership.
Intrigued but distrustful, Scar asked the vultures how they would be advantaged by his alliance with the hyenas, and Kabeer claimed that they wanted to see the Pride Lands' rightful heir on the throne. This incited Scar, who demanded the vultures stop patronizing him, and Kabeer quickly backtracked, confessing that they were hoping for extra meat and a seat in the royal court. With this admission, Scar agreed to take their advice and meet the hyenas.
With Kabeer and Krass in the lead, the group traveled to the Elephant Graveyard. Upon realizing where they were, Scar reflected on how he had often come to the Elephant Graveyard as a cub so that he could be alone and commented that the Elephant Graveyard felt more like home than Pride Rock. Suddenly, Kabeer warned Krass and Scar that a large group of hyenas was close by and urged them to take shelter. Scar initially refused but relented when he realized that they could have the element of surprise. From their hiding place, Krass asked Kabeer what he could see, and he replied fearfully that he had spotted the queen of the hyenas.
"Now, sometime after this moment it will appear as if I had first just met the trio you know of Shenzi, Banzai and Ed, yet I knew them before then. While I remember, they may not have due to their age at the time. Pausing here for the moment this time, wish to ask some questions? Next parts will show what happens with the hyenas, me, Zazu, Mufasa, and cub Simba. Will even backtrack a little after to that rock you now all call Broken Rock, it's a clue in of itself."
@thepaststillhurts:
"What? Scar? Scar himself?" Simba asked in surprise. His eyes then fixed on the ground, pondering. Was it a good idea at all? He just asked for help from the Great Kings and a dark king was there to reply instead?
Simba was sure that Scar had his own, subjective point of view and everything he was going to say should be treated with reservation (maybe Scar could even have some influence on the keypower?). On the other hand, the king knew there was no options here and he needed to take every opportunity to find any kind of solution.
"Alright. Go ahead." He spoke with closed eyes first, but opened them when the scene started. He decided not to comment on things, just observe them and let Scar speak on his own.

Natsume: HuH, you're reAL…? Not an illusiON, miraGE, or ghoST… You're really Shu-niisan?
Shu: Non! Why are you looking at me with such uncertainty!? I'm the genuine article!
Natsume: No, it's just that I wouldn’t expect to run into you somewhere so far from JapAN.
RealLY, what are you doing in a place like thIS, Shu-niisan?
Shu: Hmm, it's for work. Well, we just so happened to stop by this island.
Natsume: I sEE. What a coincidenCE. We came here for work as weLL.
ThouGH, we're in a big pinch right nOW, since we’re currently strandED.
Shu: S-Stranded…?
Sora: HaHa~! It really is Shu-ni~san!
Tsumugi: I never thought I'd meet Shu-kun in a place like this. I guess they often say truth is stranger than fiction, huh~?
Shu: The boy and Chibisuke aside, I didn't journey out to a place like this hoping to see you, Aoba.
Tsumugi: Ah, why are you being so unkind, Shu-kun? That's too much.
Shu: Anyhow, the boy mentioned you all had become stranded, but what exactly do you mean by that? That's not something to declare heedlessly. It gave me quite the shock.
Tsumugi: Ahaha… But it really is just as he said. Nothing more, nothing less.
We came to this island for ES-related work, and we were enjoying our vacation afterwards when the path that led to the main island became submerged by the sea.
We're completely trapped on this island.
And although we've contacted ES, we have no clue when the rescue team will arrive.
Until then, we'll have to pull through to survive. I suppose it is a serious situation, huh~.
Shu: ……
Tsumugi: Huh? Why are you making such a face, Shu-kun?
Natsume: You've probably astonished him with that nonchalance of youRS, Senpai.
Tsumugi: No, no, I swear we are seriously in trouble, okay?
But there's no point in panicking and lamenting about the situation, is there? If you just wail about it without acting, that's how things become really dire later.
Sora: HiHi~! Yes! Because Senpai was so calm, Sora didn't feel anxious at all! Senpai is amazing~! ♪
Tsumugi: Fufu, thank you so much, Sora-kun.
Natsume: —AnD, weLL, as you can sEE, we're pretty troublED.
Shu: I'd say you don't look to be very troubled at all…
However, it's undeniable the situation you are in is a grave one.
Natsume: YeAH. So Shu-niisan, I have a request for yOU. Do you think you could ask if we could board the ship you came in oN?
Shu: …Hmm.
Well, It can't be helped. Now that I've witnessed your plight, I cannot allow Chibisuke and the boy be as you are.
Tsumugi: Wait, huh? Shu-kun, you accidentally left me out.
Shu: It's all fine. I came along with the little girl, so I might as well discuss this with her before speaking to our clients.
It's about time for everyone to return, so I'll head back to the boat to confer with everyone. You'll have to wait for a bit before we get any answers.
Anyhow, rest assured. I highly doubt they would be so inhumane as to refuse you in a situation like this.

ffxiv the loches to the end of 4.0
exploring the loches and fates its clear that ala mhigo has a very strong history of monarchy, stronger than what is shown for doma. a parallel is that both doma and ala mhigo are nationalistic and seek independence from garlemand, and they are both nations that are historically monarchies. doma rallies around the idea of a king, the king as a representation of a nation, and after a period without a monarch seeks to reinstate the monarchy. ala mhigo is also kingless but seems to be moving away from the idea of a king.
damn this man has been hiding out in the salt monastery, get him some food and water.
thanks for the convenient plot device to beat fordola urianger. i haven't seen you all expansion. speaking of people who haven't shown up what are the acsians up to didn't see them much in 3.0 either. ffxiv has had a long standing problem of juggling multiple plots the main ones set up in arr are the ascians light vs dark and the garleans global polimilitary conflict.
the salt lake is giant, it takes half the horizontal surface area of the map and there's an entire city down here
there's no way the player character knows how to operate garlean technology. this is sora at the computer.
the ala mhigan quarter has so many alleys. this map is useless. why does gyr abania have the special ishgardian black chocobos?
and now after 9 levels omega is back. uriange using us in his double blind experiments.
I think the writers forgot that limsa lomisa is a lalafellin name because they seem to be under the impression that its a seawolf city.
oooh they added yelling intot he background noises. nice touch
hien really did fly across a continent. ah on yolback. i was wondering why they didn't run into the same problems we faced going to doma in that moving an army across imperial controlled waters is going to spark a war. but if he only brought a few people that makes more sense. although i dont see any of the mol or xaela. when did yugiri get a yol. the doman forces might have been more effective drawing garleans forces to doma and away from ala mhigo. that door, it would have been so much easier just to unlock it but that would also have been much harder and riskier.
the story is obviously not going that way its just not how its written but raubahn could have been the new ala mhigo leader. conrad says that he wanted someone who has lived outside of garlean occupation and was more widely traveled than himself and raubhn fits the bill. politically speaking lyse is the family of two famous revolutionaries but raubahn is even more famous as the bull of ala mhigo and general of the immortal flames. he also has the proven battle and leadership record that lyse lacks. additionally here in the battle for ala mhigo he's made pipin lead general and is fighting not as a general but just as a soldier so he is willing to give up command and the flames would be fine without him. but on a personal level i see why it makes sense in character for him not to. now that illberd is dead his strongest ties are in ul'dah with nanamo and pipin. most importantly is that 4.0 isn't raubahn's story, its lyse's. She's the main character here and most things are written in service of her character arc instead of what would actually make sense.
I've said it earlier but I do really like how 4.0 centers the stories of women. I didn't even realized how bereft heavenward was of lead female characters until I got to 4.0 and it was the lyse, yugiri, and alisae show. basically until hien gets introduced on the azim steppe, lyse, yugiri, and alisae are the ones driving the plot they're the main characters and I do like that.
duty support for ala mhigo is interesting. you got tank arenvald, dps raubahn and lyse, and healer alphinaud so you cannot have everyone at once. of the 4 alphinaud is the least plot relavent but i refuse to play healer. not after it took me 5 attempts to clear battem's mettle. I may run this a couple times to see what dialogue I get.
my ilevel is so low i shoule not have run this as tank. wow the the dungeon end scene's really evolved used to be final fantasy victory music and then the pc jump excitedly and now its just a camera pan
jp zenos voice actor is doing a job. zenos usually sound soooo bored and now he's excited and deranged. did zenos just compare the wol to the primal he's trapped in a cage, illberd's primal.
localizations this time round have been pretty good. but i noticed this line is a bit different, i wasn't listening too closely but it was something like "I've never had so much fun".
zenos seems lonely. desperate for a connection and not accustomed to having one. also lol got him monologue-ing. he offers the hand of friend and wants to be rejected what a messed up little man. zenos has never had a friend. reminds me of those chronically online people with no friends but who are desperately lonely and they're doing these mental gymnastics and justifications for nothing. damn zenos is projecting HARD onto the player character. like pc is just standing there while zenos rants about how they must be the same.
wait wait did zenos just call the wol yuuitsu tomo like his one and only friend or the only friend for him. bruh you've never even had a full conversation with this person. ok wow a lot of lines are different I'm going to have to go look up the japanese version later.
zenos fused with a primal. how does that even work? probably more aether bs.
wow the game forces a sunset for this part of the game
seriously, last duty of 4.0 and not a single ascian this entire patch. devs really did give up on explaining why every boss fight is now on a platform in the void
see he's showing blood that's how you know he's scripted to die. suicide? edgy.
the price of freedom
THE FUCKING EYES ARE STILL THERE. and now the ascians show up after not seeing them since 3.x. what has y'shtola been doing since she was injured? uuuuuuugggg zenos said he used omega's power to trap shinryuu... so where's omega? the cidnero divorce saga continues! they were business associates
empires, occupation, communities diaspora
lyse is the main character. foil is hien. both monarchies kingship symbol of what doma lost.
zenos is under utilized his most interesting part is his final scene. but he also had to kill himself there because now that he has reached the meaning of his existence there was nothing left but the void again. miserable pathetic loser. having an existential crisis faced with the reality that his life his empty he continues to seek the only thing that can make him feel anything, the innate fear of death when he is on the brink of it.

Runaway Wind Chapter Twenty Four
<- Previous Chapter | Current Chapter | Next Chapter ->
Cid let out a sigh as he saw his ship touch down outside and began to put away his tools. Knowing how fast Yuffie could run, he didn’t want to be holding anything sharp when she came barging in. Still, this was mostly touch up work for the main castle hall, turning it from evil lair to semi-respectable base and disabling some of Maleficent’s locks. Sure enough, a few seconds later a loud bang was heard as the front doors were kicked open. “So my ship is still in one piece.”
Yuffie gave a thumbs up. “Yep. And we did good. Mirror’s in pieces and Maleficent’s on the run!” Her cheer faltered slightly as she looked back to the entrance. “Though…”
“Naminé’s been having some trouble lately,” Ventus answered with Naminé leaning against him as they walked in. He looked over to her as she winced. “Her head’s been hurting, bad.”
“I...I don’t know...I’m seeing things I don’t know…” Slowly, Naminé sat down in one of the rebuilt benches, eyes screwed shut.
Cid paused. Seeing things. If her story was right, there was something else Naminé could see…
And change.
He asked tersely, “Is it like seeing Sora’s memories?”
Because despite the girl being as kind as she was, that power scared him more than anything.
Slowly, Naminé nodded. “It’s...the closest thing I can think of. But it’s all a jumble.”
Cid crossed his arms. “Maybe part of you is playing catchup with what Sora’s been doing recently?” If that was all it was, then there wasn’t much to worry about. But if it was something else?
She sighed and shook her head. “Nothing I’m seeing leads to him. It’s so hard to put it together even though it seems familiar.”
Yuffie scratched the back of her head in puzzlement. “Didn’t you have this problem before? After we finished in the Enchanted Dominion?” Naminé gave her a nod and at that Yuffie relaxed. “Then it’s probably just him and you just needed time to sort it out.”
Naminé seemed unconsoled by the advice. “But I can hardly recognize anyone there.”
Ventus sat next to her on the bench and looked to her in concern. “Could you draw them?”
Naminé considered for a moment, but then sighed. “If my head wasn’t hurting.”
“Early rest after dinner then. That way you’ll be ready in the morning.” Cid put the lock on his tools and led the trio down the hall. Fixing the castle was a big concern alright. But the kid’s memory powers going haywire would be a whole lot worse. Might be worth talking to Merlin about it so the old windbag could have something to do.
But for now, he was in the mood for food.
Erxart couldn’t quite shake the unease that had come over him after meeting with Xemnas. Granted, only Larxene had to stay and explain why she ran off with Naminé and ignored Xemnas’ orders. But ever since then, Roxas had become quiet. Still, as they arrived in Twilight Town for some downtime, Axel attempted to lift his spirits with a smile. “So, ice cream?” The man rubbed his hands together in anticipation, though some part of it seemed strained.
“No.” And at Roxas’ refusal, Axel deflated with a sigh.
Erxart looked to him and Roxas with concern. “What happened?”
Axel floundered hands fidgeting as he tried to find the right words, “It’s…Well...”
“Ventus, Naminé, and Yuffie told me things about what the organization did,” Roxas snapped, his hands balled into fists at his side as he continued, “Naminé was tortured. And they were going to try and brainwash someone.”
Erxart’s eyes narrowed. Larxene didn’t deny the accusations of torture during the mission, in fact she almost seemed to take pride in her work. But brainwashing? “What purpose would brainwashing someone serve?”
“Well…I...” Axel stammered for a moment, before he went silent and turned away.
Roxas stepped forward, pleading, “Axel, please, I just want to know the truth.”
Axel turned back, his brow furrowed. “It’s a bit hard for me to talk since I was just assigned to guard detail while Larxene and Marluxia were the brains behind it.” Roxas tersely nodded as he continued, “Basically, after finding Naminé and learning about her powers, they wanted to have them change a particular someone’s memories so that they’d work for us a bit more easily.”
“And Xemnas signed off on this plan?” Erxart asked tensely. He already had his suspicions, but if the superior was willing to let this plan continue? That would give grounding to his fears. “Who would they want so badly?”
Axel looked around for a moment before answering, “A kid with a keyblade. As far as we knew back then, the only one out there. But here’s the thing.” He held up a finger as he explained, “All they told Xemnas is that they’d convince him to join us. They didn’t mention a thing about changing his memories, or what they would do to Naminé to make her co-operate.”
Roxas was incredulous. “And they weren’t suspicious of them? At all?”
“Of course they were, which is why they sent me.” Axel flashed a grin as he explained, “I was going to keep an eye on them and make sure they weren’t doing anything to compromise the Organization.”
Erxart raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms. “Why didn’t you say anything? Why not tell us?”
“You’ve got to be careful with this sort of espionage. Give away too much, and they’d do something drastic.” Axel walked forward and put a hand on both of their shoulders. “I couldn’t say much to you guys cause I wasn’t sure where you both stand. But seeing as you both understand how badly this goes against the Organization, I think it’s time I start filling you in.”
Roxas relaxed. “That’s why you couldn’t say anything. You weren’t sure if Larxene was watching.”
“So what do you need us to do?” Erxart asked, “Did you want us to watch her, or do recon at Castle Oblivion?”
Axel let them go and stepped back. “Right now, just pretend like everything is normal. We don’t want her or Marluxia to realize we’re onto them. I’ll let you know when I need your help.”
“And we’ll bring her to justice.” Erxart gave a nod. After Larxene’s words on Naminé’s treatment, he had some misgivings. Fortunately, it seemed there were enough good people in the Organization looking to do the right thing.
In time he might be able to talk about what Ventus had brought up. How he had called him a name Erxart only heard in his dreams.
But for now...
“So? In a better mood for ice cream?”
Roxas gave a small smile. “Yeah. I think so.”
For now the boy needed a bit of time to rest.
Yuffie leaned on Leon’s shoulder, munching away at her dinner. “Any luck finding what might have gone on with Ansem?”
He shook his head. “Nothing. Absolutely nothing.”
She rolled her eyes and groaned. “Oh come on! There’s gotta be something! Even just a team photo!"
Aerith shook her head and looked at the charred remnants of old books they had in a pile. “That’s just it. The entire lower archive was burned. Even the researcher rosters were destroyed.” She stirred her food with a sigh and looked to Merlin, “Any luck finding what might have happened to Xehanort?”
He shut the tome in his hand and set it to his side as he took another sip of tea. “Just myths and legends. The most I could find is that he once fought alongside an Eraqus.”
Leon scoffed, “And from Ven’s story, we all know how that ended.”
Cid turned to Merlin, “Well, while we’re on the topic of history, about Naminé…”
Yuffie had a good idea of what was next. A whole lot of magical theory that she didn’t care too much about. She was a bit more interested in how Naminé herself was doing. Yuffie got up and moved over to where Ven sat with her. But even though he still looked at Naminé’s condition with concern, there was something else. Yuffie could see it in how he sometimes stared into the distance.
“You’re worried about them.” He looked up at Yuffie’s statement, confusion still clear on his face. “Erxart and Roxas?”
He looked beside him sadly. “And Naminé.” At her name, the girl gave a small smile before trying to resume slowly eating her food.
“Did you want to talk about it?” Yuffie sat beside the two. “From what I could tell, you seemed pretty convinced he was your friend.”
“They practically look the same except the cloak.” Ven sighed and set down his fork. “I...I promised I’d save him. That if Terra fell to darkness that I’d bring him back.” He shook his head slowly. “Now I’m not sure there’s anything left. It’s like he’s completely gone.”
Naminé looked up from her food. “Maybe his mind has forgotten, but the heart never forgets.” She placed a hand on his own. “I know you’ll find a way to bring him back.”
At Naminé’s words, Ven was able to perk up a bit. Honestly, Yuffie just wanted to leave the conversation with that and him happy. Unfortunately, there was the other member of the Organization they had met and made an impression on. “And then there’s Roxas.”
And of course, Ven deflated at having his doppleganger brought up. “He seems like a nice enough guy, just mixed up in something bad.” And after a moment, he scrunched his eyes closed. “I really don't want him to end up like Vanitas.”
The dark keyblade wielder Xehanort had molded into a weapon was definitely something Yuffie hoped she would never have to see. That kind of power in the wrong hands, as well as the Unversed Ven talked about just sounded like a recipe for disaster.
Though it seemed like there was one advantage Roxas had that Vanitas didn’t. As Naminé pointed out, “He has friends he wants to help. I don’t think they’ll turn out quite the same.”
Though there was a bit of a fly in that ointment. “Shame he wants to stick with the shady Organization to be with them though,” Yuffie grumbled.
Ventus held his head in his hands. “I just..I don’t know what I have to do.”
Yuffie couldn’t tell if Naminé was frowning from pain, or from seeing her friend so lost. But even so, she managed to talk, “You won’t be doing it alone. We’re here for you”
“At the very least you probably shouldn’t be doing it after what we went through today. And while Naminé needs to recover.” Yuffie clapped him on the back gently. “Take it one day at a time, okay?”
Ventus took a breath to steady himself before letting go of his head. “Yeah, you’re right. I think we need some rest. Just some time to straighten things out before we go and take care of that Heartless in the Castle of Dreams. And after that...”
“What happens happens.” Naminé finished. And Yuffie could get behind the sentiment.
In any case, she was sure they’d all sleep soundly tonight.
There it was again.
A chilling cold that smothered him.
Darkness all around. A mangled landscape.
Ventus had hoped after a week free from those nightmares that it was just a dream. But this was too familiar. Too real.
“Where...?” He looked around, hoping that somewhere in this dark world he could find Aqua. It might be the only way he could find her. Yet he couldn’t find anyone or anything.
“Ven?”
He looked up to the voice. It was the light. That same light which had been with him since that first nightmare. Which guided and protected him. As it reached the ground, he stepped forward with a raised hand and a simple question.
“Who are you?”
“Well, well well.”
At Vanitas’ voice, Ventus summoned his keyblade and looked around frantically. Desperate to find the source. “I was wondering if your heart might become darkened enough to bring you back here again.”
Ventus tried to hold onto the light next to him, and sure enough he felt a hand in his own. But even though it glowed a little bit brighter, it did little to stop a mass of Unversed from appearing from the shadows around him. Bruisers began to advance on him and the light, and Ventus held up his key to protect himself. “This...this is a nightmare! You’re…!”
“Dead? Ventus, Ventus, Ventus. You already know the truth.” Ventus looked up to where he could finally see the masked boy perched on a twisted crag of rock. “I was always there with you in Sora. Not as well off as you, but enough to survive.” As he scowled the last word, the bruisers swung their fists. Ventus pinned down as he tried to hold off their barrage. “And when your heart left that prison, the keyblade caused some of your will to be scraped off. A husk that could move with a will of its own.”
And Ventus knew exactly what he was talking about. “A Nobody.”
Vanitas chuckled, “Whatever you want to call it, an empty body was right there, so why let it go to waste?” He snapped his fingers, and the bruisers raised their arms. Ventus just had enough time to roll away with the light. He raised his keyblade in an attempt to fire a spell.
“Ven!”
He looked up at the voice. A familiar voice. And that’s when he saw the unversed knocked back.
By a figment.
And as he realized who his light was, her image snapped into focus.
“Naminé!?”
Looking down on them, Vanitas began to laugh. “Is this weak little girl your new light, Ventus? How long till I crush her too!?” He leapt forward towards the two of them, keyblade ready to strike them down.

as someone who also has FF14 and Bleach OCs, I have to ask... tell me all about Kuro!
Ohhh, I'm always happy to ramble about my fictional children~ But a fair warning, I made Kuro back when I was like, 14 or so. There's been changes since then, but you totally can still see most of that teen edginess lol (also this got pretty long, so I'll hide it under read more)
Also as a quick worldbuilding note: the rp setting he's from throws Ichigo and all his buddies away, so basically none of the canon Bleach events happen. Captains etc mostly stay bc we could not be arsed to come up with that many side characters, and it made things easier to set up. If we want one of our ocs to have a specific seat, we usually just toss the canon character that has that seat to make room ^^' Also everything starts kinda same as canon, with Kuro out hunting a hollow and the guy he's shipped with, Sora (my rp partner's main oc), getting caught up in things (and later discovering his shinigami ancestry).
First, quick picrew pics of him since I don't think I have any of his old art on hand + some basic info:
(Link to first picrew here and to second here)
Name: Kuroto Hirose Nickname: Kuro, Chibi (by Sora's bff) Age: a lot Race: shinigami Gender: male Orientation: gay Division & Rank: Lieutenant of the 13th Division
Hair: Black, pretty basic short hair with some of his bangs hanging in the middle of his face (what I like to call "basic anime boy hairstyle") Eyes: Dark grey, almost black Height: 154cm (uhhh 5'1" I think?) Tattoos/Scars: No notable scars. Small black butterfly tattoo on his left shoulder. Piercings: Two basic earrings on both ears (small silver rings)
Family: - Older brother Satomi. Very close, often hanging together if their work schedule allows them to. Satomi absolutely adores Kuro, spoiling his brother whenever possible and in general being the overprotective big bro. - Parents (I don't remember their names help) are both dead. Reasons vary a bit with each plotline but usually it's just "killed under mysterious circumstances". Hirose family was one of the 4 Noble Houses, but since the entire household (except Kuro and Satomi) was wiped out the two brothers have mostly just their family's wealth + some general respect left. - Both are basically adopted by Ukitake (and Kyoraku), who knew their parents and was kind enough to look after two young kids.
Zanpakuto: Name: Tsukiakari Type: Light - Basic katana with light blue handle in sealed form, shikai is twin swords. No bankai yet (bc I could never come up with one lol) - I know I've chosen release command as a teen I can't remember what it was efhufhe, we usually just skip them. - Spirit form is a purple haired, tall ikemen type of guy. Often just called "Tsuki". He's generally a nice big brother type, very helpful and a bit playful, but strongly dislikes when Kuro shows any sort of insecurity and just kinda fucks off to pout.
Bonus fun power stuff! Hirose family has some cool hereditary skill that allows them to interact with zanpakuto spirits more closely than others, leading to most of the family having been teachers in Shin'o Academy. Inner world's are only for their owners and their zanpakuto spirit? Nope, Tsuki and Nesaku (Satomi's zapakuto) can go visit other spirits in their worlds whenever they please. If the owner is present, they can (for a short while) drag the spirit outside (visible to anyone). The other spirit can leave whenever they choose to, and both Tsuki and Nesaku refuse to do it again (they tend to side with spirits rather than owners lol). Both Hirose brothers can also take someone along to either their own inner worlds by touching them while meditating, or enter someones inner world with them - again, the spirit there might kick them out if it's in a really bad mood (and the inner world itself may be dangerous).
This was mostly brought on by us liking the spirits shown in canon a lot, so it felt boring that only their owner could see them haha. So, Kuro and Satomi get to be god's specialest children and do these things ( ̄▽)" But it's also fun to have Tsuki (Nesaku less, as he's mostly mute) as a sort of extra guide/mentor for all the characters (Sora and his bff are very special cases) to figure things out. Also we got to come up with really neat inner worlds! Kuro's is this huge temple that's almost completely submerged: only some high buildings have their roofs/upper floors above water. There's huge full moon 24/7, and you can actually walk on water, but only if Tsuki is in good mood (if he's feeling like ass, he'll make you take a bath haha, so better to stick to the roofs).
What else... uhhhh
Kuro is mostly pretty serious person. He still has some playfulness left, but growing up orphaned made him mature pretty quickly.
He's kind and tries to see nuances rather than follow rules blindly, but prefers to try and keep from breaking rules in the first place (which is directly opposite from the guy he's shipped with, as Sora is very free spirited little hooligan lol).
Very easily embarassed and harbors a very deep inferiority complex ("woow, lieutenant to your own adoptive father? must be easy to have everything handed to you"). Tsuki absolutely loathes this inferiority complex and just flat out refuses to speak, help or sometimes even work if Kuro is spiralling.
Very very affectionate when drunk, will cling to nearest person and most likely fall asleep on them.
Gets pissy when you call him short. Guy who calls him Chibi loves teasing him (he later moves on to tease Satomi, after he figures how to annoy him), and Sora tends to rest his chin on Kuro's head (he's a full head taller than Kuro lol)
Organized. Usually the one that handles most of the paperwork in 13th div, as well as keeps an eye on Ukitake's health (and makes sure he remembers to take his meds).
NOT a morning person. Sleeps like a log (and demands to have a huge bed), takes forever to wake up and gets very grumpy when woken (and usually tries to go back to sleep when you stop watching him).
Not that strong physically, but quick on his feet and good at kido. Using Tsukiakari he mostly relies in quick, weaker attacks (+ blinding enemies with bright lights) that slowly wear the enemy down.
Spends some time in the human world hanging out with Sora and his friends, during which Kuro gets to show how completely oblivious he is to both human and commoner lives ("no butlers? maids? why is the house so small? tf is a tv?")
Most clothes he wears in the human world are picked by Sora (and often a borrowed from him, so oversized)
Both Kuro and Satomi graduate Shin'o Academy rather young (young enough to be called prodigys but not as fast as Hitsu) since both their parents were teachers and started teaching their kids stuff from very young age
I'll end this here since it's already so long aihuiefh. Sowwy anon, there's like years upon years of rp he's seen and like 3 complete restarts to the story when we get stuck (and all of them are currently on hiatus lol) so there's a lot of stuff and most of it is pretty chaotic.
#answered ask#fun fact i only later realized how much he even LOOKS like rukia (on top of stealing her position)#i just wanted a cute basic anime boy with black as his theme (to fit his name lol)#also help writing this all out took forever aefihieuhf#it's been a while since i've had to seriously think about him#also i never realized that kuro's shorter than hawu'li#wao#anyway he's one of my oldest ocs and i still love him to bits#edit: tf tumblr why does the damn read more cut keep moving on its own??#i've moved it to it's place like 4 times and every time i recheck it's moved to some other random location#working website and all that...

Mysteryverse Villian Thoughts
so for those who know me (mostly on discord) i have this multiverse that all my fanfictions take place in. It also has a main plot, which is what i'm focusing on in this post.
also, the Mysteryverse has nothing to do with the Origami King AU i'm writing, i just need to expell some brainworms i've been having about the goober group that is the villains of the Mysteryverse.
First off, the main Mysteryverse villain rounded up a bunch of video game baddies from different worlds just so he could defeat the heroes. These 'baddies' are Darkrai, Doopliss, and an alternate timeline Sora from KH, where Organization XIII are the good guys and Sora is the ultimate evil.
They banter a lot and get into a ton of fights, but at the end of the day they're still just a bunch of evil dorks in a found family. The main Mysteryverse bad guy can just go 'hey do you guys wanna have your nails painted' and they'll at first be hesitant because y'know, they've got a bunch of heroes to destory but it quickly turns into an all out spa day.
'but wait, Mystery, Doopliss isn't at least humanoid like the the main Mysteryverse guy n Sora are!!1!'
i present you this: the main Mysteryverse villain has the power to give OTHERS the power to transform into a human version of themselves. he doesn't do it often, and Darkrai doesn't get this power like Doopliss does because he refused to participate in their tomfoolery like painting each others nails and reading comic books while they wait for them to dry.
second off, the main Mysteryverse villain has his hair up and colored like Zoroark from pokemon. it goes past his feet and the part after the bead is dragging on the floor. thats how long it is. he uses EXACTLY, NO MORE, NO LESS, 10,267 hair pins to keep it like that. don't ask why its such a specific number. taking them all out results in almost his entire body being covered by how much hair this guy has. of course, during Evil Spa Day Doopliss braids it so he doesn't look like some dude who got the exact opposite of what he wanted at the barber shop. Doopliss doesn't EXACTLY strike me as someone who knows how to braid hair, but i feel like he'd learn just so his allies don't look like dorks who just got out of a hot topic. Yes, he's tried to make Darkrai cave so he can braid whatever that mess of hair he has is. No, Darkrai didn't let him. and no, Darkrai likely isn't going to cave to evil ghost puppy eyes.
anyways that's all the brainworms i have to share.
