you, artist online. somebody has referenced you in conversation irl by your online handle and somebody else knew who you were talking about. somebody has kept up closely with your posts for a period of time like their morning paper. somebody found a music artist because of you, thinks of you when they hear them on the radio. somebody followed you years ago and remembers you randomly even though they can't find you. somebody has screenshotted and saved your posts and sent them in discord servers. somebody has made your drawings their lockscreen, added them to their favorites folder and looked at them when they're going through some shit, has sent them to their best friend and sparked conversation in private chats. your art in particular could be the source of a keen sense of nostalgia for someone. maybe they've even printed out your images using their home printer and taped them to their bedroom wall and they look at it every day and they never even told you. isn't that scary? isn't that awesome? remember this well.
submit to the mortifying ordeal of being known so that you may turn around and see the impact you leave and the light you cast on others.
#if I have ever interacted with you online know that I talk about you with my partner ALL THE TIME#artists - your art has definitely been my lock screen or wallpaper or pfp#writers - your stories are the reason I’m submitting myself to the Mortifying Ordeal of Being Known because you inspired me#I get so giddy seeing you post#and I get so happy knowing we exist at the same time

i think it's cute when americans talk about being from the 'great state of connecticut' or like 'the great state of wisconsin.' not when it's texas or new york or california obviously because then there's the fear that they're being serious. but when americans adopt that really earnest tone and are like 'god bless the great state of delaware' in response to a picture of a seagull swallowing an entire ziplock bag full of cheese-its. I think that's very endearing
#connecticut mentioned!!!!!#ct gets this rep of being the place rich people go for holiday like ?????#I live in the eastern part of the state it’s full of cows and hicks lmao

Younger writers. Please, just know that you could not skip to different songs on a cassette tape, that’s CDs. With tapes you pressed fast forward or rewind and prayed.
Also, VHS tapes did not have menu screens. Your only options were play, fast forward, rewind, pause, stop, or eject.
Y’all are making me feel like the crypt keeper here, I’m begging you 😭
#I am disintegrating you all#memories of my dad and I making cassette mixtapes are melting your minds#you had a certain amount of minutes to record music on Side A and Side B so you had to time it right#my dad preferred making cassettes over listening to CDs because he liked to pick and choose his songs#we had this GIANT CLUNKY CD/CASSETTE PLAYER that doubled as a recording device#sometimes he’d record a song at the end of Side A and the tape would run out so he had to rerecord it from the beginning on Side B#it was all about timing

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here - haven’t been too active in music projects, but I’ve been performing here and there with choirs in my community, and in the occasional one-act operas!
Here’s a recent video of me singing the solo for the Kyle Pederson jazz arrangement of ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’ from the recent ECPAA concert - just in time for the holiday season!
#Renae sings#ooh - been a while since I used that tag#actually quite proud of how far my voice has come!#last year I was in an opera that really challenged me to extend my voice range#hitting A5 is no problem for me now 🥹#the little mezzo that could!
