Imagine Father Sephiroth gracefully deflecting strikes from his angry Daughter Darling, all the while attempting to reason with her. He made it seem so easy, but his calm voice carried subtle signs of weakness. He knew it'd be only a matter of time before his sweet girl learned about the protomateria inside her, restraining the momster within. But he never expected her to stumble upon it so soon.

"SHUT UP, SHUT UP!"

As her strikes grew more aggressive, he exerted more energy to deflect them. It never crossed his mind to fight her. Never. But he couldn't help but feel a silver of pride in this time of distress. If she was his equal in her human form, it was no surprise that her true form held power far beyond his.

"I only kept this secret to protect you from the dangers of the worlds… All would have surely harmed you."

As soon as "LIAR!" left her lips, he felt the searing pain of her Kodachi piercing his chest. He released a soft gasp, then pulled his sweet girl into his arms, deepening the stab. Her shaky hands clung to the blade's hilt while her pink, slitted eyes grew wide. He rested his head on her shoulder, whispering into her ear.

"G-good. Very good..." His voice trembled. "You are becoming stronger with each passing moment. Embrace your pain and anger, my sweet girl, and let them empower you." A tear trickled down his cheek as he smiled gently. A smile always reserved for her. She only clung to him, crying against his neck.

"Father, please, don't leave me! I'm sorry!" Her desperate pleas spilled out. She wanted his forgiveness. His wellness. His love. Forget what she learnt. It's meaningless if it meant losing him. He nuzzled into her shoulder, and his gloved hand stroked her back. "I promise, I'll always be with you and Mother Jenova! JUST DON'T LEAVE ME!" A hint of euphoria graced his anguished eyes as she uttered those words. Finally. A breakthrough.

"...To embrace yourself is to embrace her," he whispered those final words before vanishing into a cloud of dark particles, leaving behind a lone black feather that gently settled upon her head. She finally had enough despair and suffering to walk her path alone... For now.

He's not dead.

In the traditional sense, I don't think so, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it he did experience it in canon. Hojo more or less suggested for Aerith to be subjected to it in 7R to create more cetra offspring and to mentally break her.

And there are definite canonical bodily violations of Sephiroth, for sure. Putting the young version of him through literal torture so he can get stronger. And the storing of Sephiroth's biological samples (confirmed are his hair, blood and other tissues) also crosses another line. Depending on how those samples were taken from him, it could possibly constitute as SA along with many other moral/ethical violations.

Yahallo! I'm not sure if your requests are open, but I was wondering if you could do something where y/n was Sephiroth's wife or lover, and they have a run in with the remnants of him? Like, maybe they mistake one of them as him from behind at first? And maybe they take y/n along when they encounter Cloud and Kadaj becomes Sephiroth? And maybe, just maybe, y/n has refused to be with anyone else since Sephiroth went AWOL because they're still deeply in love with him? Okay, this is really more specific than what I normally do, so I will mostly focus on the reader's encounter with the Remnants.

Pairing: AC Sephiroth/Remnants x Darling

Content Warning: None, just angst.

You broke off contact with Cloud and co. around a year ago. Being around them reopened wounds you were not ready to confront.

There were no hard feelings between you and them, but maybe some distance between you guys will help you heal.

...Or so you thought. The visions of Sephiroth whispering to you began not too long ago. At times, he would sound like his old self, calling out to you with happiness, asking when you would join him in the Lifestream. Yet there were moments when he became angry, mocking your weakened state and accusing you of betrayal.

You were unsure of what was triggering these awful visions. You desperately searched for anything to rid of them and the strange stubborn black splotches on your skin, but nothing gave you relief.

As you were losing hope, three men with silver hair showed up at your door one day, offering you respite if you joined them.

Their honeyed words felt off to you, but yet you still agreed to follow them.

It wasn't that they resembled Sephiroth, or had aspects of him. No, definitely not. They promised you a remedy for your disease and you're going to get it.

The boys put on a facade of coolness when you were around, but as time passed, their true, childlike selves couldn't be concealed.

As soon as you gave one of the boys head pats, the other two would start pouting and making a fuss until they got attention, too.

They spared no effort in trying to outdo each other, putting on a grand display just to impress you.

Kadaj reminded you of young Sephiroth. Though he's not as polite, he exuded the same confidence as he asserted himself as the leader of the group despite being the youngest.

Whenever Loz wanted to show his affection, he would effortlessly pick you up, his cheek against yours, as he softly spoke of his emotions, just as Sephiroth did in his tender moments.

With the gift of his charm, Yazoo was skilled at pushing your buttons, much like Sephiroth, making you blush and stumble over your words as his velvety voice washed over you.

With each one of the boys, it gave you a haunting reminder of what could have been had Sephiroth not succumbed to darkness.

When the boys left you alone, you began to imagine a life where Sephiroth had made different choices, where he left Shinra with you and you two lived in a peaceful village. In that life, these three would have been the living embodiment of your love with him.

But reality was a cruel mistress... Still, you came to love each one equally, they're like the remnants of a shattered dream, the life with Sephiroth you'll never have.

So you'll cherish every moment spent with them, and hoped that somehow, in their innocent existence, you could find solace for what was lost...

You know it kinda shocks me that Hojo never tried to get Sephiroth to reproduce with anyone. You'd think he'd want to produce more soldiers like Sephiroth.

I once thought the same, but either the writers didn't want the story to get too dark or just wanted things to stay simple. It does seem like one of those lore questions that should've warranted some in-depth discussions.

I think the closest is in 7R where Hojo wanted Sephiroth to "meet" Aerith, probably for not so family friendly reasons.

Would (Pre-Nibelheim) Sephiroth be willing to reproduce on the behalf of Shinra? Nah. If he wouldn't take orders from Heidegger, then he sure as hell wouldn't do anything like that for Hojo. Even if he had a darling, because he wouldn't want his children to be raised in that environment.

As for the idea of creating more soldiers like Sephiroth, that's what Hojo tried to do after the Nibelheim incident and eventually probably his plan for everyone else in SOLDIER, eventually. Remember that SOLDIER has strict requirements to join, especially because of the JENOVA Cells that will be implemented within them, so its a matter of finding worthwhile candidates and bypassing getting authorization from Shinra to keep doing the experiements to have the next Sephiroths.

Funny question, does the Shinra Family had Thing after Morticia! Darling was married into the family? How does Rufus feel about the walking and alive disembodied hand? Maybe Wednesday scaring everyone else with it? For example, her telling Thing to give Scarlet a scare. And how does the executives feel whenever they see her smile?

They panic whenever they see Wednesday smile. Even Hojo becomes deathly aware and serious when Wednesday is in that *that* mood.

I wonder how Thing would manifest differently in this AU. Maybe he did come along with Mortica!Darling while she was studying the Lifestream in school.

Rufus would probably be curious about Thing at first but I'd think he'd get used to it. So would the Turks, through Reno and Rude would sometimes try to see if they can catch Thing in a contest of the fastest.

Thanks! I think Sephiroth would be just be flabbergasted. He and Darling were already half-expecting another pregnancy, a result of their passionate night in the woods after a week ago. What he certainly wasn't expecting was her sudden visit to the village clinic with her village girlfriends. She was convinced by them to see if she's pregnant. And when she got home and told Sephiroth excitedly, he's flabbergasted but not disappointed.

Triplets!? He didn't think he'd get a heavy load of kids this time. And nevermind the gender of his unborn children, how on Gaia is he going to manage three more gremlins? Despite already proven himself as a good father, I think he would silently panic, though Darling would reassure him he'd do a great job as he always been doing.

If you thought he was already a hyper-protective, worried mother hen when Darling was just pregnant with their firstborn, it's tenfold when she's holding triplets. He's around her 24/7, helping her out of bed even.

Seeing Darling's pregnant belly get even bigger than ever did get him going 👀👀👀.

But it doesn't matter how many more maternity books he read and secondhand experiences he heard, he couldn't be fully prepared for the coming years as the wild triplets grow up...

Honestly, this would be interesting to explore in the inside out AU.

Well, depending on if we're talking Yandere Female Sephiroth or Fluffy Female Sephiroth, it happens at different times, but for both? Yes!

It took some time for Fluffy Female Sephiroth to get accustomed to the idea of lingerie. She always wanted to try it, but felt herself get so flustered at the very thought of it. Though her darling never pushed her, always giving her the space and time needed it! I like to think she was never truly comfortable with Shinra's subtle sexualization of her image, so when she was finally with darling, it made her happy to reclaim that autonomy.

For Yandere Female Sephiroth, it's a similar thing being able to reclaim herself, but she isn't shy about it like her Fluffy counterpart. She's more than happy to show off to Darling and Darling alone.

Personally, I'm tempted to say no since it was actually deconfirmed BEFORE Rebirth released. Though, apparently there's been a history of SE going back on their word on no DLC in their games. FF16 was denied to have any DLC and well, we got it anyways.

I think the least likely option is getting more news on part three. Far too soon. We have to remember that Rebirth released this year. Though Rebirth PC port? Hell yeah, I'm expecting to hear a peep at least.

From what little you knew of his childhood, he told you he wanted the opposite for you - for you to be "free". Yet, both of you knew that your current reality was anything but free.

༻❁༺ Yet he genuinely doesn't realize that he's obsessive, overprotective and patronizing towards you. Why would he? He provided you with what you needed and granted your desires. It's clear that he is the only one for you. No one, be it a friend or a boyfriend, can love and appreciate you as deeply as your beloved father does.

༻❁༺ Even though you've already experienced and carried out such terrible deeds for him, he still obsesses over maintaining your purity, whatever that may entail. He took extreme steps, ensuring that nothing or no one can strip it away from you. If so, your purity will only be taken by him, should the moment ever come.

༻❁༺ He consistently lavished you with affection, usually wearing a gentle, affectionate smile around you. Headpats or stroking your cheek seemed to be his favored method of delivering this. But through his slit eyes, you sensed his twisted darkness, albeit mixed with genuine affection for you. His traditional, malicious smirk was usually saved for his enemies and other lesser beings.

༻❁༺ ...And for you, in the few rare times where you have crossed the line. If he even detected the slightest hint of doubt about your origins or you leaving his side, you'll be corrected quickly. He'd never, ever physically hurt you. But he'd drown you in a sea of remorse and shame. How could you question or disappoint your perfect father, sweet girl?

༻❁༺ It pained you greatly to even consider hurting your father or letting him down. However, as one of your past adversaries pointed out, you need to live for yourself. You need to discover your own purpose. Ever since your childhood, the regret of killing them has haunted you. They were the closest thing you had to a connection outside of Sephiroth. And you repaid them with betrayal and blood as your father urged you to eliminate them. Afterward, he told you there was nothing to be sad about. You were a princess of a legend and they were a worthless human parasite. You wanted to think like that too, but you couldn't...

༻❁༺ After the memory of your lost friend persisted in your thoughts longer than usual, you mustered the courage to ask him about your origins. You needed to do this. You don't even know who your mother is. He typically stonewalled whenever you bring this up, but this time, you stayed persistent.

༻❁༺ You refused to back down and ignored your growing fear. His familiar, malicious smirk emerged on his face as you continued to persist on this grating topic. A dark chuckle slipped from him as he finally revealed her name: JENOVA. ...His mother!? Who he is already one with???

༻❁༺ Without warning, he grabbed your chin with a firm grip. He made sure your eyes locked onto his slit eyes. He leaned in so close that you felt the warmth of his breath against your lips.

༻❁༺ "That's enough," his velvety voice turned to pure ice. Tears cascaded down your cheeks as you relented and apologized profusely to him. You made your precious father upset.

༻❁༺ But as you blinked, his typical gentle, affectionate smile had already reappeared. He cupped your cheeks, gently wiping away your tears.

༻❁༺ "Come, my sweet girl. Let's watch the stars together," he whispered. You nodded, resting your head against his chest. His arms embraced you as he flew you towards the destination.

༻❁༺ After that incident, you found other subtle ways to rebel. Any direct confrontations with your father won't work now. In your search for the truth, you discovered your father had a trophy room where he collected certain souvenirs. It turns out he hadn't utterly destroyed some worlds after all.

༻❁༺ This intrigued you, as you hoped to uncover clues about your origins. During your brief moments of free time, you'd explore the room, eager to read and learn as much as possible.

༻❁༺ Sephiroth knew exactly what you were up to. He went through this situation himself, a long, long time ago at the same age. He saw this as an opportunity to finally gain complete control over you.

༻❁༺ He orchestrated a path for you, leading you from one clue to another to foster the illusion that you're closing in on the truth, and indeed you are. But it'd be his truth that awaited you.

༻❁༺ He observed your journey closely, feigning ignorance of it as the two of you continued to conquer the omniverse, part of his overarching mission to conquer reality itself. You will be his sweet and obedient girl one day.

Oh this is going to sound so silly but imagine the rivalry between Vincent (father figure) and Sephiroth (the son) over their momma darling in your surrogate au.

Behind the darling's back:

"...that's your mother."

"Precisely. MY mother."

"...what is wrong with this boy." The man needs a hard drink.

From comedy to very dark real fast, especially when or if Vincent somehow gets the Chaos implanted in him.

You mean from this AU right? In this situation, it'd be an AU of an AU. Is there even a term for that? 🤣

But yes, I absolutely love this! Vincent would very much be in tune with changes to Sephiroth's aura, already picking up the signs from the earliest point. He didn't think much of Sephiroth's clinginess to Mother Darling when he was a young boy, but when Sephiroth became a teenager, his concern came to the surface.

Sephiroth becoming more aggressive towards him, even during their sparring sessions. His possessiveness coming out in shades with Darling at dinner.

I think he'd be honest with Mother Darling immediately and pull her aside for a heart to heart conversation about him. MD would hear him out and understand but might just try to justify the strangeness by saying it's the teenage blues, and also the fact he's still trying to understand himself.

There would be a lot of interesting implications in this sub AU for sure. For starters, how would MD and Vincent even begin to tell Sephiroth about his origins? I think they would tell him what they knew but there would still be immense gaps, leaving Sephiroth still feeling isolated and unsure of his identity like in canon BUT probably not in the same extent.

I do think there is still a possibility of him going down the dark path like in canon because of this identity complex and also the fact that both JENOVA and Shinra are still out there, looking for him (and MD probably).

I propose an idea. Sephiroth, barely turned adult, snuck out from his tightly secured home to find his caretaker (his "parental"/"mother" figure) he'd been obsessed with for years, maybe planning an 'ambush'? and learned that they were with a partner he didn't know about. Might've even had a family with them!

Boy, he'd be furious.

Yes! The "betrayal" (in his eyes) would be their ultimate sin. How could they? To built up such relationship with Sephiroth, ever since he was a mere boy. His world shatters when this revelation comes out of the left field. And it's not like they talked much about their life outside of him whenever they were on their job. They were solely focused on him. Making sure he got the proper nurture, care and affection one would need growing up. Technically, they did everything right.

Maybe too "right". Because now, Sephiroth felt like they were bound to him and him alone. And it should stay that way. His struggle to block out the dark thoughts only grew over time. Those Jenova instincts clawing at his mind to force him to acknowledge his dominance over them. How easy it could be. But he had to hold himself back. Keep the mask on for a bit longer so his perfect plan to get what he wants will come to fruition.

And his dear caretaker sensed there was something off about Sephiroth. How every affectionate touch they normally shared (in privacy) lingers a bit longer. And the subtle hesitancy in his body language whenever Sephiroth forces himself to pull away. And there's that slight dark shift in his pupils whenever someone steals their attention from him. They've brush it off, attributing to Sephiroth being in his typical grouchy mood.

They just have no idea of what's to come when they go to Nibelheim with Sephiroth...

Do you think Vincent is Sephiroth's Dad? I personally don't think so. Lucrecia and Aerith share traits but they're not related. I think they just used Sephiroth's model to make life easier. 😂

Nope! I actually feel the same anon. Following is just my opinion by the way.

I believe that Vincent being Sephiroth's father takes away from Sephiroth's tragedy. I think a big part of the point is that he was dealt a shitty hand. And what made that hand shitter is that his parents, not just one, but BOTH of them, opened a path to the abuse and trauma he will suffer for the rest of the life. And Sephiroth's father, the man that is supposed to love him, protect him and guide him... He deliberately went a step further than Lucrecia by conducting more and more abuse consistently until Sephiroth reached his breaking point. It would bother me to see this important piece of Sephiroth's backstory be changed in favor of more romanticized tragedy, even though the original story already does this well enough. It honestly gives me the same vibes of folks trying to force a redemption arc on Sephiroth to make him "work". Sephiroth and his backstory are immaculate as it is.

And to give you a deeper look into my bias: This aspect of Sephiroth along with others makes him relatable to me and maybe even to other survivors of childhood abuse. My own father also treated me so horribly and used me for his own gain. And honestly, I don't really consider him my father beyond just being biologically related nowadays.

Now, all that aside: It would be pretty interesting to dive into Vincent's feelings about Sephiroth and the man he's become. I would fucking love to see him reflect on it; On what he could've done. The "dream" he would've liked to have rather than the cold, hard reality he's presented with now.

And you know, I think the theme of wishing vs reality comes up a lot in the FF7 franchise. There's a lot of examples like Zack and Cloud wishing to be a hero. Lucrecia wishing to take back what she's done... But reality hit them all in the face. It doesn't turn out how they wanted. They get the hand they have been dealt and can only try to make the best of it by shuffling it around...

Sure, here some Domestic AU headcanons.

The triplet boys are practically attached to the darling's hips whenever they go on a visit to the village.

They will gladly do whatever she needs, whether it is getting or carrying things for her. Not to only compete for her affection, but they also genuinely want to help their precious mother.

Grocery shopping is almost always a breeze because of the many helping hands for the darling.

Now with Sephiroth? They can get pretty mischievous but yet, life wouldn't be nearly as interesting if they weren't.

Kadaj believes he can go off on his own because he's the leader of the bunch and leaders have the power to do as they please! At least until Sephiroth reminds him that as long as he's around, he'd always be the man of the house.

Loz's desires hinged on his ever-changing mood, and he CONSTANTLY begs Sephiroth to buy him treats from the village bakery. And of course, Sephiroth always tells him that there's treats at home. Except for rare times he caves because he's so tired of his crying.

Yazoo would put his mind game skills to the test, as he quizzes his father's knowledge of the world (and his patience) during their shopping trips.

Also, expect him to embarrassingly ask Sephiroth if he'll buy that pretty lingerie for darling during their clothes shopping while a bunch of other villagers are around. Darling's village girl friends told her about this funny incident later.

Sephiroth still treats the boys to occasional outings, despite being driven insane by them.

He knows his boys love Chocobo riding, so he'll motivate them to improve their skills.

The boys made a bet, staking their claim as the "man of the house" if they ever won the races so naturally, Sephiroth couldn't go easy on them.

And he never stopped being a hardass, anyway. It's a trait from his SOLDIER upbringing that he couldn't rid of even if he wanted to.

Whenever they come home, Sephiroth faceplants into the darling's lap, like a tired kitty. It's his way of claiming her before any of the boys can.

Sephiroth's Madness...

Going through OO again before it shuts down on Rebirth's release day. And seeing this quote by Sephiroth reminded me of a musing I had about his madness.

I know I'm probably preaching to the choir once again, but it's really no wonder why he's so twisted after Nibelheim. Witnessing and enduring the absolute worst of what the planet and humanity offered would undoubtedly make almost anyone (besides Aerith) harbor extreme hatred and insanity, especially on top of what Sephiroth suffered in Crisis Core. He must have seen some good amidst the darkness, but as humans, our brains are wired to remember negative experiences more vividly. Negative experiences inflict both physical and emotional pain, prompting us to avoid them and develop coping mechanisms if we were constantly exposed to them. Unfortunately, Sephiroth chose one of the most destructive ways to cope with this trauma, if not the worst.

Obviously, this doesn't justify the awful shit he's done and WANTS to do. He needs to look at some flowers (Aerith's preferably). But I think the important takeaway is what makes him evil isn't his trauma or delusions. It's that he deliberately manipulates and hurts others to get what HE wants. In his moments of lucidity, he takes pleasure in perpetuating horrific pain, some of it being the same as he saw in those memories... And yet, in those delusions, he sees himself as a savior. The liberator. He is giving everyone mercy by letting them become "one" with him. He is the judge, jury and executioner.

I really hope Rebirth and EC maintain the complexity of Sephiroth's villainy and build on the masterpiece he is.
