Sephiroth won best video game character of the year at the grand game awards. I'm so happy. He had a lot of competition in my opinion but he won regardless. 😩🥳🥳🥳

That's awesome! Sephiroth was also among Tumblr's most popular character tags this year too!

Hopefully 7R3 (and FS when it picks up more traction) can continue garner him new fans and appreciation.

You'd think from the OG FF7, he'd wouldn't develop into such a complex character, considering that he was mostly just your standard doomsday villain imo. Nope. Look at our boy now.

They would all care for their darling with the same devotion and love. Though some Sephiroths can do it best.

Dissidia Sephiroth: He's Husband material like Fluffy Sephiroth. Really helps that he is one with his darling already. Kinda a cheat. If Darling is in need of something or wants it? He can use his godly abilities to obtain it for her, if not will it into existence. Unlike his counterparts, he has a remarkable self-assurance in his love for darling, thus no jealousy or possessiveness whatsoever.

Crisis Core (Nibelheim Incident) Sephiroth: Does a good job of taking care of darling too. A little too good. He practically hover overs Darling and their child obsessively. Not even allowing himself to sleep because even a fleeting second with his newly family is precious to him. Darling has to slowly find a way to coax him to sleep. He's also terrified of somehow losing Darling.

Fluffy Sephiroth: He's bit of a nervous wreck internally but tries to keep it together for darling's sake. He hyper prepared himself before the birth and during his darling's pregnancy and even then, it's a difficult road for him. He knows in the postpartum period, it can be a dangerous time for mother and child so his intense vigilance is on high alert. Though sometimes, when darling and their newborn child is asleep, Sephiroth quietly cries to himself, either out of uttter sorrow for what he once lost or utter happiness of what he has now.

Idk... I think it would be cute if they gave Sephiroth a love interest. Though it would definitely rub his fangirls the wrong way, a lot of them ship him with Cloud too. So I think even if it does become a thing, it will be very short-lived. 😂😂

I don't have a problem with the idea myself! I'm always happy about learning new sides of canon Sephiroth. New interactions including Sephiroth = More we know him. And as you said, it'd be short-lived anyways. Sephiroth is just destined to suffer no matter what.

I think everything will eventually lead us to see why he fell to the path of darkness and why he put it all into JENOVA.

But oh goodness, I don't even wanna think of how twitter would react if the love interest thing happens...

I think poor Sephiroth is just desperate for any sense of comfort and nurture in this hellish life he's living at his age.

People are really starved for the idea of canon Sephiroth shipping, but the implications here aren't what they THINK they are lmao

Sephiroth isn't attracted to Alissa because of any inherent physical or romantic feelings.

Other than mayhaps Yuffie, I'm seriously struggling with this question. I think everyone has such an important role to play in the FF7 narrative. I guess... The Before Crisis Turks (not Cissnei) because some of them don't show up again??? Maybe my opinion on this will change after finishing Traces of Two Pasts.

The writers for ever crisis are so lazy. All they are doing is recycling content... Masamune basically burned down a village and killed all its residents... just like Sephiroth. I have no more hope for this game. I saw on Twitter that the game has been losing money since the beginning of the year. I don't think they will make it to the end of Sephiroth'a story. I see this game shutting down very soon. 😞

I always wondered why they put out two FS chapters back in May. Game was in danger of being EoS'd back then too? Idk. As long as there are whales, game will probably sustain for a little while. Where did you see on twitter that the game is losing money? I don't doubt you, but I'm curious.

But yes, the tropes are quite hamfisted. Parallels and Generation Xerox everywhere, from Masamune and Nibelheim to Jenova/Lucrecia in the field with Sephy/Vincent. We understand, writers.

I'm holding out for something to be revealed about Alissa that none of us were expecting. This chapter just makes it plainly obvious that she's nudging Sephiroth (and mayhaps) Angeal towards a very specific path. And the way she phrases her questions and responses just sounds like how your typical mimic trying to learn the world around them. Then again, with what I talked about previously, it may just exactly be what we're expecting.

It wouldn't shock me if she was a true human but a spy in SOLDIER deliberately styled to resemble Lucrecia too.

I'm about to stop following FS updates tbh. This new arc is already dragging on. Updates are not consistent since there are two other stories. I'm not waiting months for tiny new and interesting lore updates amongst the snoozefest. You guys are still welcomed to discuss with me, of course.

Just finished the new chapter and omg it was exactly as you predicted. They did nothing but walk around and learn about the history of wutai. They also seem to be trying to get Sephiroth and Alissa together, while throwing angeal in the mix. I really don't want any love triangle fuckery. The only good part was the last bit with Sephiroth and Lucrecia (Jenova). It really put in perspective why Sephiroth does what he does. I unfortunately feel that Sephiroth will fall for Alissa and something will happen, he has a soft spot for her and the cameraman even calls it out... oh man... poor Sephiroth 😭

Saw some of it myself. I expected little and still rather somewhat disappointed with the lack of plot development.

Love how the second Lucrecia dream soft-confirmed my headcanons of Sephiroth being clingy with a mother figure.

Sweet boy refuses to sleep because he thinks it will waste the precious time left he has with her 😭

Also FUCK how they are making these fights in the chapter so damn difficult just to bait people into sticking around longer. I hate every little thing about this predatory gatcha game the more I think about it.

It's painful to know that aside from 7R3, this shitty gatcha game will just be the sole source of FF7 content...

I bet that next month won't be a FS chapter. Yet again another OG or CC update. They are going to keep this on for long as possible.

Me neither. It's the second chapter of a new arc they just introduced, of course designed to keep you on edge about who/what Alissa could be. It's gonna be awhile before any worthwhile plot development come out of it... Can I guarantee this? No. I hope I'm wrong. But yeah.

This is just one of my few: I'm reading Traces of Two Pasts right now. Tifa wants to be seen more than "the hot girl" yet the EC devs keep giving her these sexy and revealing skins? Nothing wrong with that itself, but why can't she get something cutesy for once and let Aerith get a sexy skin?

Mayhaps Yuffie. Or at least her appearance in CC. Just don't see much point with her character.

Vincent being Sephiroth's father. Not sure why folks want Vincent to be a horrible father on top of everything else. Is it not tragic already that both of Sephiroth's parents willingly experimented on him and that he was born and raised to such conditions?

And I doubt Vincent would willingly submit himself to the coffin if he knew Seph was his son.

Sephiroth's mental breakdown was nailed perfectly. The raw emotions and him realizing Gast was no better than Hojo... Oh man... Rebirth is gonna be amazing

Game isn't even out and it's already one of my favorite scenes. The music. The buildup to it. THE JENOVA CLOSEUPS. The superb voice acting. (yes, I think Tyler Hoechlin does a fine job)

The only thing that seemed iffy was cutting out some of Sephiroth's monologue about the Cetra and traitor thing.

And you know what, I like Rebirth's slight retcon. In this version, it's much more about Sephiroth, providing a clearer understanding of why he succumbed to darkness. This man and boy (since young Sephiroth is his inner child that's always with him) finally discovered the ugly "truth" about the twisted experiments that made him and the other monsters. He always wondered about his purpose, and this was it. All those years of abuse and exploitation... were done at his expense because he's a monster. The few people that did love and support him? No, no such thing. They're no different from his tormentors. He felt so alone and lost.

The Nibelheim Incident is pretty much his trauma reaching a breaking point. I can see how difficult it was for some to discern for some this nuance in the OG (and even in CC) because they focused more on Sephiroth developing an ego complex from more obviously, outdated information. This retcon is more closer to the truth, the only erroneous thing being that Jenova was an ancient. It's an amazing fix and does a great job in humanizing Sephiroth. I absolutely loved how they used the Jung Shadow. I'm a psychology nerd. You basically watched the death scene of Sephiroth's old identity, especially notice how prominent his shadow is. It's meant to show his inner conflict and then his transformation.

He became exactly what he never wanted to be.

Anyways, another thing to note: what was a bit weird in the original game and the compilation is the strange shift in Sephiroth's beliefs and motivations. At first, he believed himself to be a Cetra and had a divine right to rule over the planet. Then, he transitions to wanting to destroy the planet at the beginning of FF7, seemingly abandoning any claims to Cetra heritage. We know why his motivations changed, but it feels odd not getting more expansion on it after they just suddenly threw that bit of information at us. I believe this retcon should help smooth out that awkward transition. It's a great feeling that one item from my wish/check list might be addressed.

And you know another thing I fucking loved Rebirth's portrayal of the Nibelheim Incident? They didn't back off from Sephiroth's villainy and sadism. I already made a post about it here, but holy fuck. He is out for blood. Everyone and everything in his path had to suffer, just like he did. They don't deserve to continue to live life so happy and normal.

Sephiroth really did not deserve any of the shit he was put through, but that will never not excuse the atrocities he committed in Nibelheim. I was honestly scared to see how the writers would humanize Sephiroth, but so far, they seem to do a great job of it. Hopefully, the full game can keep it up.

The demo still has some issues with Sephiroth and how the gameplay works, though.
