Belated VVW25 Contribution #2: Sin/Coffin

Vincent staggered towards his coffin, which he thought of as “bed” now.

I’ll sleep this off, he told himself, barely able to bend down to pick up the lid. Gods, he was so sore. The Beast had torn his skin, ripped his muscles, snapped his bones, to adjust his body around its shape.

And then those asshole intruders had beaten the living shit out of him.

That insolent blond, the confounding little robot… cat?, and the Wutai ninja who had moved even faster than the Beast’s eyes could track. Plus that giant man with a gun for an arm and the magician, shooting bullets and spells at him from the backline.

It was comforting to know he could be put down.

There had been so many of them… there was a fire-lion and the girl with the bright red shoes, too. They hadn’t even really participated in the fight.

Why? Why not defeat him as fast and hard as possible? Did they have some sort of code of honor?

Vincent shook his head, climbing with some difficulty into coffin-bed. You’re such a damn sentimental idiot. It would have just cluttered the field of battle too much. Hampered the ninja’s movement and the arc of the boy’s sword. Plus that cat liked to scatter traps everywhere. That’s all. They’re not special. They’re probably not even good people.

“There’s a reason why you’re alone in the dark down here… You might want to come with us… Is this how you want your story to end?”

The cat’s little speech didn’t sound like something a complete asshole would say.

Unless that was exactly what he wanted him to believe. Don’t fall for it. You’re such a gullible idiot and always have been. Now apparently the whole world is in danger because of it.

He cocked his head slightly at the sound of their conversation drifting to him. He winced at the twinge that caused in his neck.

“Think there might be top secret materia hidden somewhere here?” he recognized the same glee in the ninja’s voice as when she had landed a kick to his face.

“Ugh, is that all you ever think about?” The man who had called him a sick freak.

Asshole.

Vincent sighed, sagging a little. No, he’s right. I am a freak. That was a decent person’s response.

He flopped back into bed, groaning as the hard wood jarred his aching bones.

They’re trying to fix what I let happen.

They’re decent people.

Atoning for my sins.

“Is this how you want your story to end?”

Vincent closed the lid.

It looks like Vincent beat Omega-Weiss at the limit of his abilities, yes, so we have to take the average amount of power they use in battle, without much damage to themselves. I really don't know who is stronger, Sephiroth, Weiss and Vincent. I agree with you, they seem more or less equal in power, however, Sephiroth relies on tricks and cunning (and activation of Jenova cells + godlike transformation), Vincent on transformation and the power of Chaos, which greatly exhaust him, and Weiss on his raw physical strength and speed, plus Omega + Nero, who support him. But if we take only physical strength, without tricks, magic and transformation, then it seems to me that Weiss could have easily won. However, this is FF7 world, where the strongest being in the universe Sephiroth is defeated by a village boy few times… and this ruins the entire system of powers. This is not logical. I also found it funny to read that Tifa's punching power is equal to Vincent and Nero's. Like, Tifa isn't a super soldier experiment trained specifically as a weapon or a host of super-strong god-like beings, why the hell does she have that much power? She's just a village girl who learned martial arts. But if the writers want, even a simple village boy or girl can suddenly become so strong and defeat powerful super-soldier like Sephiroth or Weiss, and it won't be explained in any way. Or explained like "he revealed special potential due to willpower." So we won't take Cloud and other protagonists into account because of their plot armor. I just hope that in the future, the full potential of Weiss, Vincent and Sephiroth's powers will be revealed to us. (btw, I also read that Vincent and Nero are equal in row strength. And that Nero's darkness is so deadly that only Weiss and Vincent are immune to it. I remember the question was asked on the ff7 forums, are Sephiroth and Cloud immune to Nero's darkness? It seems like Jenova and Nero's darkness are each other's adversaries, since Nero's darkness and Vincent's Chaos are of the same nature and part of the Lifestream and Omega, while Jenova is an alien parasite that wants to destroy them. So many questions, but no answers...)

alto i confirmed that weiss is only 6’2. you can see it in the dirge guide and its on the wiki. sephiroth wins the height contest. nobody be dwarfing him. except the size of his post-nibel ego and his love for cloud.

They retconned Sephiroth's height for the R trilogy so the same miiiight be said for Weiss as well. I remember there was a pic out there of Sephiroth's model next to Weiss' and Weiss completely towered over him. So it's really hard to say.
