Volkner could certainly said he had met enough people ( and ‘mons, really— ) through his life. Most likely he hasn’t seen it all just yet, but at least he’s seen enough as far as life experiences go. ( enough shit, even, he’d say if he was tired enough and it was already the darkest hours of night with nothing but dubious drinks to power through whatever insanity he was putting to paper and later on into parts and wires. )

By all means, the kid was one of the most normal people he’s seen, slightly more interesting choice of clothes aside. Most definitely more seemingly normal than most people he’s seen, especially when some villain teams come to mind. And yet. And yet.

“So...” just a tiny bit awkward as he tries to say just about anything. ( and then he said he didn’t need to work on his people skills. ) “Um... Sora, was it? Why are you around here?” ... Well, that’s one way to ask. Can’t say he didn’t try, even when Luxray stops trying to pinpoint what exactly this stranger smells of to stare at his trainer. He’s trying his best to have a semi normal conversation here, okay. “I mean��� haven’t really seen anyone like you around here, doesn’t seem like the kinda place you’d be in, I guess? Or something like that. People usually only travel around for the gym challenges or contests, I think?”
