*Takes you by the shoulders* I ADORE character profiles and character trivia and likes and dislikes sections. I love knowing this ruthless, heartless, cruel man of a character has a childish dislike for mandarin oranges. I believe in the inherent beauty of all characters, no matter the background or moral stance, being made fundamentally human by assigning them insignificant culinary preferences. I stand by the supremacy of humanizing villains by giving them relatable tastes and trivial interests and ordinary hobbies. I treasure the hidden reminders that everyone is inherently human even when everything else we know about a character might suggest the contrary.

xialing's gaze lingered on the girl or a long, quiet beat, as if she were weighing something that couldn't be said out loud. there was a kind of understanding in the woman's words. one xialing hadn't expected. belonging. possession. protection. those were things she knew well, even if she rarely admitted it. but the dragons... they made it look different. less a chain, more a choice. her eyes flicked up to the big one, then the smaller one, taking in their tense readiness with a detached sort of calm. "i'm not here to take anything that isn’t freely given," xialing said finally, her tone cool but not cold. "and i'm not stupid enough to make a move with those two watching." she let that sit, shifting her weight slightly. then, with a faint nod, she added, "i'm looking for people. people who don't shy away from risk. who can handle themselves in a fight." her gaze sharpened again, landing fully on the other this time. "you know the type." xialing took a slow breath, her expression unreadable but just soft enough to not be a threat. "youre offering help. i'm offering opportunity. maybe we both get something out of it."

"To them, it means the same thing." She was theirs and they were hers, they were interconnected on such a deep level that she knew not many on this island would truly understand. "They weren't chosen Silver One." Tarin mused in her head, an all too painful reminder that her inner most thoughts were once again not her own. "Can I help you find what you need?" Violet questioned taking a single step forward, met by both Andarna and Tarin maintaining an extremely close distance between them. Ready to pounce if needed.

she tilted her head slightly, the corner of her mouth tugging into something that wasn't quite a smile, more like a quiet dare. "mm. you say ridiculous like it's a bad thing." her accent softened the edges of the word, but the sharpness in her tone was unmistakable. she let her gaze drift to the coin in his hand, then back up to his face. "ridiculous is usually when things get interesting." yelena shifted her weight, resting a hand casually on her waist. but there was nothing casual about the way her eyes stayed locked on him. "people can assume whatever they want. makes it easier to surprise them later." she gave a small shrug.

Well, at least she was interesting. That couldn't be said for most of the people around here. However interesting could also prove to be a problem in the long run. Not that he had a plan yet, but that was just a matter of detail. First was keeping himself alive, which was easier said than done what with Jedi being here. "That is a lot of words of assumption right there" not like that was a bad thing, better to let people assume then try and fool them. It worked so much better. At that he caught the coin, "definitely have been practicing enough if it looks like magic" and also never talk about the Force. "Has all been very ridiculous though".

Thor pursed his lips in a small smile when the princess said it was all good. He put on his t-shirt--if he hadn't been that sleep deprived he probably would've cared about maybe embarrassing her but at the same time he was pretty certain she had seen men without their shirt on before.

He reached for the water bottle he had opened before and took a sip and then downed one of the sandwiches as she kept reading. He noticed there were a few more books in the room--he should've checked before for any hidden cameras, he was definitely tired so he did that now. Thankfully there were none--he checked the roof and the mirror. All good. Just a regular nice, cheap room. He could stop being paranoid for maybe 5 hours now and get some sleep.

He did pick up a book from the shelf, it was an old Dostoyevski translation--probably a lousy one but it'll do. Grabbing the blanket, he set it on the floor beside the bed as if it were a sleeping bag and then tossed the pillow, givign her a little smile if he met her eyes at some point. Looking on his bag's top pocket, he got his reading glasses. "Please don't tell anyone I wear these, I'll never hear the end of it."

“ I see, I see. Just give me a handbook and I'll fit right in. ” The urge to salute was there. Tempted to goof off and play along. But last minute she hesitated and changed her mind, retreating back within her shell. Too much too soon. Rather to keep her mouth shut and a gentle princess smile on her face. While he was in the shower she nibbled on the food that was prepared, finishing her water fully. Charlotte found a book on the shelf, a historical fiction that she'd read in the past but it would help pass some time. She didn't hear the water turn off or the door open for Thor to leave the bathroom. But she did look up just accidentally enough to see skin and ( hello handsome ) she shoved her nose back in the book. Her face was beet red, as the image of the sculpted god-like man was now carved in her brain intensely. “ Holy shit, ” she ghost whispered into the pages of her books, her eyes bright and wide. Hopefully Thor didn't notice that she glanced up. Charlotte was praying to anything that heard her that all he believed was she was reading her book. Nothing else, of course not. She cleared her throat, forcing herself to answer him from her position on the bed. “ Good. I'm good. Everything is good. ”
