the fact that alfred was the one to put up jason's memorial is so important to me

#alfred's military background and his sudden shove into parenthood are things i think about a lot #alfred using the term 'soldier' as something honourable. as something to take pride in.#alfred putting 'a good soldier' on jason's plaque to show his care #the voice in bruce's head referring to his children as his soldiers sounding suspiciously like alfred's #bruce initially refusing to acknowledge jason's existence after his death bc it's the only way he can keep going #& alfred saying 'i will not let you do this. if you will not acknowledge him in your daily life i will make you do so every night'#because alfred doesn't know how to acknowledge the absence of a child either #besides going about your life and praying hoping wishing that they return somehow safe and sound #but he knows how to honour fallen soldiers.#and he will help you in the only way that he can.#sorry i just have so many thoughts about this #(justice league 19)#alfred pennyworth #jason todd #red hood #bruce wayne #batman

#avatar aang #atla katara #atla toph #atla sokka #atla suki #atla #avatar the last airbender #modern avatar #atla modern au #my art #atla fanart #kataang #CAUSE THEY ARE IMPORTANT IN THIS AU #lots of inner debates on how to deal with aang's tattoos and if to make him say an actual buddhist #decided that he and monk gyatso (plus a handful of others) are/were part of a largely dying religion of a nomadic group #from the himalayan/tibetan plateau region that's a mix of buddhism hinduism and other religions (plus air nomad culture)#due to the politics of region aang and gyatso traveled around the world which is how he met katara and sokka #who were on a fieldtrip in the south (of canada)#they live in the Qikiqtaaluk Region originally in a smaller northern town but to continue their schooling they moved to iqaluit #Toph is from China and she met the gaang during the first big trip sokka katara and aang took together (at aangs begging)#meet her the summer before katara's first semester of college (so she was 18 aang 16 sokka 19 toph 16)#also by 16 aang is his own guardian cause of gyatso's death so he just does whatever p much #suki from okinawa and they meet briefly another summer of college when traveling to a bunch of islands in the pacific #suki specializes in and teaches ryukyuan martial arts (she's ryukyuan)#all reunite after sokka and katara's graduation (katara graduates a year early) during aang sokka and kataras celebration world tour #where they come into full actual contact with the fire nation crew #they are all in their twenties in these expect for monk aang who is a teen #hehe i cant wait to make more for this auuuu

My less popular opinion (and what I believe to be implied by the art in Lost Days) is that rather than waking up in a fully grown body Jason didn’t actually complete his puberty until after his Lazarus pit dip while he was on his murder tour. Imagine you’re tied up in a basement in Berlin getting interrogated by a teenager and his voice is cracking the entire time and if you laugh he’s going to shoot you

#Late puberty Jason truthers rise #Egon calling up Talia like ‘did you send me a middle schooler what is this’. ‘He’s technically high school aged actually’#he would’ve been like 18 when he finally regained consciousness but the way he’s drawn could easily be mistaken for 15 #I know people love the body dysmorphia angst of Jason waking up big but I offer you this: Jason wakes up looking basically the same to a #world that has moved on without him and is unrecognizable. His death/injuries stunted him he existed for years in a state of suspension #while the world passed him by. He was on pause while everyone kept moving on and he didn’t get unpaused until the Lazarus pit and he has #to scramble to catch up. He’s actually 18 but the last thing he remembers is being 15 and his body reflects this state #and then once his mind is finally back online puberty hits him like a truck. Just look at the difference between how Jason is drawn #immediately after his dip in the Lazarus pit vs the end of lost days when his training arc is over #It implies it could’ve been multiple years but in order to fit with the timeline of other comics I personally don’t think it #would’ve been that long. I think he just sprouted up like a weed #Jason Todd #dc #I think Jason is technically still growing by the time he’s red hood. Saw a twitter post about Near and L with the "do I look like him?" caption and it got me to feel so viscerally sad because... he does. He does look like L. The similarities are so uncanny that, had I not known they're not related, I would have guessed they are. And not just appearance too... some of his mannerisms, the way he speaks and reasons... all of Near is haunted by the traces of a man he has never even met.

It's not really surprising: he was groomed by Wammy's to be just like L. He never really rejected that notion, either; he just embraced it as something that has always been part of him, because how could he refuse something that was there from the beginning? He was just a kid. A very young one at that.

But someone who did reject that was Mello. Or, rather, he felt rejected by that system, so he turned his back on it -- at least partially. The effects of it are still felt even in its rejection - his visceral hatred of Near being a lampant example. But I wonder if that rejection, that search for individuality, is what made Near so endeared to Mello in spite of the other very openly hating him.

Mello became his own person and Near, forever bound to be one of two parts of L, admired that. Because he couldn't do it.

Tango was so happy energetic.

And from Tango calling Etho's storage system cute and Etho in gamechat going "CUTE?!" (00:41:07). To the razzing (and laughing) over shops (00:49:00 and 01:03:49). Etho taking Tango's head twice, and it all being so playful (00:58:11). Etho using Tango's catchphrases 🥹🥹🥹 It gets me every time! "porkchop power" "flee with extra flee!" And the way he said it was the cutest, and Tango's giggle about it too (01:00:59). Etho offering to give the tour Tango wanted. More mail talk and laughing guilt and planning and razzing and teaching Etho to do the stamps. Tango complimenting the path (and that Etho showed it to him when he first came back when Etho came to say hi) (01:15:41). They still plan on doing their sand-collection-off (01:35:06).

And of course the whole TNTificating with Etho's new "boom boom tech" (01:39:43--02:15:17) was just…the most fun. They are having the most fun together...it's an absolute joy. (And it's also them collaborating on how to figure out a redstone thing together which is just so satisfying.) Just...TOO MANY (!!!) (so many) fun moments in that whole TNT section that I can't even start on highlighting them all 😭 I'd need another mammoth paragraph...

I try not to idealize even my favorite historical figures. Especially if these figures are military men.

Ney punished the Spanish guerrillas very cruelly during the Peninsular Wars, and this cannot be denied. So I wanted to draw this.

This does not mean that I do not like the historical figure I have chosen. Ney is a very important person for me, who has seriously influenced my life, but I try not to idealize him.
