My mom used to call me a squirrel as a joke (I displayed a lot of squirrel-like behaviors growing up, which is partially how I figured out that theriotype) and lately I've decided to lean into it, now whenever she calls me a squirrel I just respond with "damn right I am" and she never questions it

I love being able to be honest without telling the full truth.

Like, I’ve just decided to run with it and just start calling myself my kintypes without saying they are that thing and istg no one bats an eye.

Someone: “Why did you tattoo gills behind your ears?”

Me: “Because I am fish.”

Someone: *nods in understanding and moves on.*

LIKE IT HAS NEVER BACKFIRED FOR ME LOLOLOL

Reject humanity potions

If no marten is here, I choose the squirrel potion (though squirrels are prey, confusing yes, but it would be interesting to see the world from their POV, and we're both arboreal, so a big plus!)

The second close option would be the otter one (a fellow mustelid! but water isn't my element and here it is important)

Recently went to a museum with some animal models, figured some of my fellow animals would enjoy the photos I took. (Note: there’s a couple dinosaurs in the mix)

It is kind of sad being a squirrelkin in a community full with lots of strong, bigger, predator kins around.

From Therian Guide: Many members are often pressured to fit in with the rest of the group. For example, a therian who has always identified a mouse, but feels underestimated or casted aside because most people would laugh it off “Ha? a mouse? ...well, my theriotype is a tiger” now, who wouldn’t be fascinated by a tiger?

Me, I'm a simple squirrel. I just want to forage for food to cache it, and hide from predators in a cozy nest up a tree.

I guess such experiences aren't very interesting, compared to a wolf describing their howl urges or a bear writing about their preparations to hibernate.

Little everyday things that give me species euphoria

Watching my pupils expand and contract in the bathroom mirror while I flick the light on and off.

Tilting my head to read, because a few pages of the pdf I'm reading through are sideways- a perfectly acceptable excuse to use an animalistic gesture in public.

Sharing my perfume with my friends. Now they smell like me, clearly marked as part of my pack.

Listening to asmr to fall asleep, and suddenly the tingly feeling along my spine spreads to my phantom wings.

Digging my teeth in and yanking back to take bites out of the tough crust of the cheap mini-pizza I had for lunch.

Turning all the pillows and blankets on my bed into a perfectly constructed nest, safe and cozy <3
