(Co-)writing married characters again and "He snugged in close behind his wife" WHY. WHY WOULD HE DO THAT. Posts from dudes on the interwebs "I wanna be the small spoon sometimes :(" and, like, fair, I guess. But. Objectively speaking. Spooning is the Objective Worst sleeping position with one's spouse. The height difference has to be very precise or someone is ending up with a crunched spine, someone's got a mouth full of hair, or got their face pressed into a back, or neck if you're lucky, and you better hope you don't have bad breath or you'll be miserable immediately but either way your breath is bouncing off their body and you're eventually breathing in your own carbon dioxide or you gotta sleep with your head thrown back (ow, crick) not to mention if either of you has to MOVE it wakes the other one up and what do you do with your arms????

But! There is an objectively good sleeping position for you and your spouse: back to back

Warm

Supportive (physically and emotionally)

Not rebreathing your own air

Mouth full of pillow, not hair

So much room for your arms!

- nobody's arms are going numb from being lain on

Won't wake spouse up if you need to shift in your sleep

Already in optimum fighting position when enemies attack

In short, leave the spoons in the flatware drawer where they belong and sleep back to back with your spouse

at one point i didn't like caduceus' epilogue, that he just stayed home for a long time and eventually travelled again and eventually calliope joined him too. but i think actually i love it. something so gentle about him returning home to a temple that was once empty and lonely but is now healing and full of family who he loves so much. and to not have anything particularly asked of him apart from tending the garden and his small routines. especially thinking about how tired and sad he is by the end of the campaign, compared to the beginning when hes so giddy to just be interacting with people and seeing things he's never seen before and to have guidance from the wildmother. and then later, after aeor and so many more horrible things have happened, he admits to calliope that its too much and the outside world is scary and big and he's so so tired and he keeps saying how tired he is. so basically ideal ending that he gets to go home and get better and heal enough to be excited when he heads out into the world again

Why isn't anyone talking about the fact that Pluto's flashback came from this awful feeling of hopelessness when he pulled the trigger of that gun and realized he couldn't get rid of Montresor because there were no bullets?

And his brain went "oh yeah like that one time where you really really though you were going to finally escape and experience freedom and rebuild everything far away but at the very last time your dad trapped you and ripped everything away from you" ?

He though finally there were light at the end of the tunnel, just to see it falter and die right in front of his eyes. Now I want to cry. Again.
