I am currently reading moominpappa at sea for the first time and i love it so much! moomins just have something so soft in their writing. I can also recommend the comics if youre interested (i used to read them back when i was working as a librarian and had them constantly at hand). they are really amusing and a lot of them are about someone falling for some temptation of modern life (money, success and such), fumbling with it for a bit and then abandon it for the good old peaceful moomin life and its such a fun comfort. who will comfort toffle is a gem that could make me cry anytime i love it so much.

I loved the moomin books as a kid! I have such vague memories of the stories though I couldn’t say which was my favorite. Which one is your favorite?

my usual answer is moominpappa at sea, but i would need to reread because its been a while, to double-check. i read them chronologically from the moomins and the great flood -> moominvalley in november. i do rly like moominpappa at sea though, it's got the groke in it a lot and i like her. moominvalley midwinter has too-ticky and i like her. comet in moominland is just rly cool and interesting, have an old copy that belongs to my mum (and of a couple other of the books).. i dont remember the others' plots super well. but i remember moominsummer bc theres the flood and they run from the cops lol. and also tales from moominvalley because it has the story about the little dragon and snufkin and moomintroll catching it because it was a book my parents gave us when i was like 4 so we got read that story from it a lot bc its the first one in the book. we also read who will comfort toffle? and the one about finding little my a lot. . i love who will comfort toffle

im not sure for ava, in my brain she just kind of existed at some point. maybe she was an owl before she was like 16

una was just like a cool kid growing up , had a brother or two and she drew and read a lot of comics and rode around on skateboards and wasnt scared of falling off things or getting hurt. her parents are chill and let her do her thing as long as she was ok. she wore big tshirts and big shorts and stood up for what she believed in (still all pretty true except she doesnt rly want to fall off skateboards much anymore and washes her face now)
