With Kamala/Walz going up DAILY, I've seen more people talking about voting third party/Jill Stein (EW) and I believe the above screencaps from @three--rings can explain WHY Third Party votes NEVER work NOR is this the election to screw around in.

So - just a general idea of the conclusions I'm coming to with the polls so far (and there's still just under two days to vote, so please vote!):

It's in the goals, there's an overwhelming yes towards having a fic to look towards to every Monday, and I'm planning on continuing this. The poll is affirming what I suspected and reinforcing the decision to do something I was planning on doing.

Friday is actually winning just barely the additional weekly update poll (it looks tied with No Preference, but that's because my vote is there, and in the case of a tie with this, I would let the other option edge out my vote). I like this, because Thursday (which currently has a vote) is where the second OAFC chapter goes when I double chapters, which leaves Fridays open for other stuff. We'll get back to this below.

Going to do this out of order and look at the fandom stuff first, the important thing for me is that there is an overwhelming preference here. (In fact, the sole No Preference vote is mine, so that I could see the results.) All of you are here for a specific fandom of some sort, but an overwhelming amount of you (so far) are here for Danganronpa content.

Continuing the out of order, there's also more votes for No Preference when it comes to weekly scheduled stuff vs. stuff going up immediately. Where there is a preference, it's slightly for weekly scheduled stuff, but only by one vote. My preference is also for weekly scheduled stuff, so it's likely I'll go in that direction - and as a result, given the current trend of the second poll, those would go up on Fridays.

Overwhelmingly (so far), there is No Preference on voting for the weekly update. (That said, no one disliked this option. Which says something, too!) This one is important in light of specifically the fandom poll - because there is an overwhelming amount of you here for Danganronpa stuff, in a poll where something Danganronpa goes up against anything else, it becomes significantly more likely that the Danganronpa stuff will win. Given that I've already currently got weekly DR stuff going up (re: OAFC) and have DR stuff planned (Junkan Week and Femslash February both in February), I think that if I set up a poll, it'll probably be when you're choosing between DR content (or between stuff that isn't DR content). I think in sense of fair/even playing field, that's the best decision here.

And then the original writing poll is just for me. I'm super happy to see that right now all of the answers have been positive (I understand it depending on the story; there are some stories, even written by people I really like, that I wouldn't read) - but none of you said no and none of you don't have a preference, which is. thanks.

TL;DR - IF CURRENT POLL TRENDS CONTINUE, weekly updates continue on Mondays; if posting a second scheduled thing weekly (outside of fandom events), that should go up on Fridays; polls for Friday posts only if between nothing Danganronpa or all Danganronpa.

I don't know if I'll wait until Fridays to post one-shots or if I'll post them when they're done. I might. We'll see? I think I would rather plan on bulking them to get ahead for Friday stuff (like I did with Monday updates last year), but I've enjoyed posting stuff as it's done, too. Especially with one-shots. So we'll see on that.

It is possible that I get ahead enough on another multi-chapter fic project to run stuff on Mondays and Fridays, but it will be a while before that happens. I want to finish the rough of OALH before focusing on another multi-chapter fic, and I'll probably run a poll about that when we get closer to that moment.

If I get that far ahead, then I'll probably look at Saturdays for the additional posting (given that Thursdays are occasionally OAFC (or eventually OALH) chapters), but. that's super far in advance.

Why do I keep seeing transmascs and trans men insisting or implying that all trans men are "female socialized," or "understand the female experience," or "navigated the world as a woman." Because yeah, sure, that can be true for some people. especially if you weren't gnc at all as a kid and didn't crack your egg until well into adulthood, it makes sense.

But they don't stop at saying they had that experience. It always comes with an addendum that trans men, as a group, all can relate to this experience. I don't know about the entirety of my demographic, but I never got even a little bit of what some of them talk about. I didn't even believe that women were scared of going out at night until I kept consistently seeing them say it, online or wherever, for years. I never realized catcalling was a thing until I saw some women complaining about it on reddit.

But they posit it as some sort of, you're safer than cis men, right? You know what it's like? Which, on top of being patently, demonstrably false in the case of myself and many other trans men, holds some unpleasant and often outright hostile implications about trans women. And they always deny it, but if you can't even conceptualize someone like me who grew up gnc, and never got the bulk (or any?) of whatever we consider to be 'female socialization,' what does that say about what you think trans girls went through, growing up? I don't want to speak for them, as I've never experienced that firsthand, but I can guarantee that (if you're even a little bit obviously trans) people don't treat you like a cis kid of the opposite gender. By and large, they don't get treated like cis boys.

It just makes me mad that we're taking this inaccurate framework that (ever so conveniently) puts trans people into the box of our assumed birth gender, and trying to fancy it up and use it with a faux-progressive veneer; never mind the way that transphobes use it to bar trans women from being athletes, or using the bathroom, or having access to any gendered resources they need. It would be bad enough to try and dust it off and use it even if it were largely accurate, due to the aforementioned connections to outright transphobia, but it literally is patently false. Not in all cases, obviously, but why are we trying to revamp this untrue, inaccurate generalization and pretend that we can make it 'trans-inclusive?'

If you're on the fence at all about whether or not you should vote in the upcoming election, or if your mind is pretty made up that you're not going to vote, I absolutely beg of you, please vote. No your one vote probably won't change the course of history and swing the election one way or the other, but if you're considering not voting because you don't think it's important, think about how many other hundreds or thousands of people in your constituency are thinking the same. Those votes collectively can and will impact the result. I understand that the possibilities for pm are all shit, but remember that you're voting for your member of parliament, to represent you, not voting for a prime minister. Look at who the people running in your constituency are and choose whichever of them you most want to represent you in parliament, even if it's not the most tactical vote for getting the Tories out. What's important is that you use your right to vote - voter turnout is always shockingly low, especially with young people, do what you can to help those figures go up and also to have someone you agree with representing you in parliament

If you hear Republicans speak to other Republicans, you'll hear a lot of them say that they really don't like Trump for whatever reason (many of them aren't fans of the felony convictions, his personal manner, his business dealings, his family life, or whatever else) but that they'll still be voting for him because he'll get them closer to what they ultimately want. They're pragmatic; they don't demand purity in their candidate. They recognise him as their strategic choice so they'll set aside the issues they have with him and vote as a bloc. That's what makes them effective at getting their way. That's how they win elections.

And boy I wish we had more of that attitude on the left. Imagine what we could get done.

I live in a neighborhood I generally regard as safe for queer people. I live in a city pretty well known for being progressive, liberal, open to minorities. I live in a place I actively chose because it felt safe for me, my wife, my queer siblings, my friends of color. A place where there are endless Love is Love placards, pro-science measures, pro-Gaza notices in public windows. A place I love dearly for all of these reasons.

There are still Trump signs here. There are still proud bigots, loudly announcing they’re going to vote for that piece of shit. Here. In my safe neighborhood, in my liberal city. Here, where I can’t not see them. Here, they are still trying like hell to take away democracy. My liberties. My safety. Everything I hold dear, every reason I moved here in the first place.

The polls don’t matter. The registration numbers only count if the registered actually come out when push comes to shove. Do not rest on your fucking “oh, it couldn’t happen again” laurels, do not get complacent. Do not let your guard down. Vote. It is more critical than ever.

I find this just ironic because if you all don’t know; back in 2020, there were 2000 lost ballots for Joe Biden!
