Alex's footsteps echoed through the wide hallway. There were only a few other workers there, all wearing similar clothes to him, along with a mask. He didn't get why he and the others had to wear faces masks; he was sure this wasn't a disease, but was just a hallucination.

Years ago, Alex wanted to be a doctor. He went to college, got his degree, and got his license. For a while, everything was perfect. All of his family and friends were proud of him.

He was twenty one at the time, when he graduated.

He was twenty one at the time, the same time he was in love with someone. She was beautiful, like a goddess. She was in love with him, too. They planned to get married during the summer.

But then he woke up in a strange place. The room was white, all white, with nothing but a bed and a bedside table. There were no windows, no clocks, nothing. He had tried the door, but it was permantly locked from his side.

He screamed for a long time. He screamed for help, for Angelina, for somebody, anybody, to save him from this place. It was too bright, to empty. It made him feel so alone.

His hair had grown. It now was past his shoulders, making him look almost feminine. Nobody had talked to him the months he had lived in this place. He thought he was getting used to it.

There was a window-looking thing at the door, almost like a school door. One day, he heard yelling and shouting. The noise startled him. He hadn't heard sounds in a long time.

When he looked out the window, he saw somebody who looked his age--another boy, with buzzed gray-black hair close to his scalp. He had two piercings on his right eyebrow. He looked terrifying. But also afraid.

Alex returned to his bed, starting to doze off. Maybe that boy was a dream. Maybe he was just in a very deep dream, and was waiting to wake up.

He snapped back to reality. He hadn't noticed that he stopped walking. He approached the room he was assigned to. He couldn't hear anything from the outside; that was normal.

He opened the door. The redhaired girl sat on her bed with her back to the door. Alex quietly walked over, repeating his words for the millionth time.

"I'm going to inject you with this, okay? It's part of the procedure, but you'll be fine. Don't worry--"

He got startled when she looked up. her face was sunken. Deep purple shadows pooled underneath her green eyes. Wasn't she a teenager? Wasn't she supposed to be full of life, happy and energetic?

Was this how Angelina looked when he disappeared? Emotionless, almost dying, someone who gave up?

This was the first time he wanted to help someone in this facility.

He needed to help her.

A little kid and his mother are trick or treating in another city, perhaps at some kind of event rather than knocking on doors, and the kid is dressed as Phantom. It’s very adorable, with his little ghost-shaped bucket and clearly homemade and already stained costume—listen, white only works if you can just fly over street grime or phase it out of your clothes—and his slightly I’ll fitting wig. The kid is SO happy to be out and about dressed as his favorite, and maybe even showed it off to Phantom back in Amity Park before his family left.

The hero, insert whoever you wish here, is probably in civvies and just enjoying the event. The kid, meanwhile, is so glad when people ask who he is so he can explain, and so- the hero gets to hear ALL ABOUT the local town hero who is probably pretty small time despite the kid’s clearly exaggerated stories. The hero certainly never heard of him, but the kid’s mom confirms that Phantom really was the town hero, despite some mixed reviews of the poor guy.

“Did you manage to show him your costume?” the hero asks.

“Yeah! We went down to the cemetery to leave flowers and I got to show him my costume.”

Wait. Cemetery? Maybe it was part of theme, because Phantom had to be named that for a reason, but… it sounded like…

The kid ignores the suddenly VERY still hero and instead turns to his mom. “Momma, do you think we should bring him candy? He doesn’t get to trick or treat like we do, and I can work super hard to get him a bunch!”

The kid’s mom just smiles. “We could, but maybe we should bring him something homemade. I bet he’d like something more filling, teen boys like him have a hollow leg.”

The kid wrinkles his nose. “Like Vernie with the pizza bagels?”

“Like your cousin, yes. We can make some cinnamon rolls and take them to his memorial, maybe bring some of the apples from your grandpa’s garden…”

The hero is pretty much forgotten as the two-part family wanders off, not quite intentionally forgetting the hero is there so much as the hero somewhat accidentally ended the conversation when they just froze and didn’t ask anything further.

Not that the hero didn’t want to. But they’d learn something very serious.

One—there was a small town hero they’d never heard of. Two—that hero was apparently a teen. Third—most pressingly, the teen hero was both beloved enough to have kids dressing up as him and dead enough to have a grave.

This… might require some phone calls.

Couldn’t stop thinking about Dust being able to pass as Classic. So I had an idea where Dust replaces Classic in a timeline and steals(?) his partner.

He gets conflicted when he starts actually caring about you… But denial is an easy road to take when there’s seemingly no consequences to your actions.

The reveal i guess. Most normal reaction to learning your partners been replaced for god knows how long and you have no clue where he is.

Now that I think about it I might’ve gotten some inspiration from that one chapter of IJAG by @htsan (iykyk) only a lil bit tho

Danny is just a kid ya know? Like he is just a little guy. A baby really. 14? Tiny child! Look at him, he needs to be protected. Someone has to help this poor little dude. I mean he forgets to use his own powers to avoid attacks all the time.

Anyway cut to Batfam not knowing all of Dannys power set cause the lil dingus keeps forgetting he can do that stuff in the heat of battle.

Danny uses his invisibility all the time… to avoid being followed. But in a fight? Oopsies hes too busy thinking of funny one liners to realise he could do that.

Intangibility? Give the guy a break. I mean who calls themselves condiment king. Even he was stunned.

He so rarely actually uses his biggest advantage powers that the League doubt he actually has them. He, like any naive child, trusts them and reported fully on his power set. Instead of just asking him to demonstrate his powers they instead start watching him and try to find evidence of his powers.

At least they know duplication was true since they watched him make a copy of himself to go to the bathroom and not miss any of his fav tv show.
