Okay maybe this is a known thing and I’m just spouting nonsense or both Idek it’s half one in the morning and I was meant to be getting an early night but YOU GUYS I was just listening to my Soc audiobook and in chapter 18 when Kaz is remembering the coffee shop and the Hertzoon scam we learn that the first trade major trade Jordie and Kaz were privy to and I’m pretty sure Jordie put a little money into was A CHANGE IN THE SUGAR MARKET.

And of all the things Kaz might have been able to manipulate the market for to try and profit off Van Eck’s destruction at the start of crooked kingdom HE CHOSE SUGAR.

The failure of the Sweet Reef job doesn’t only represent, to Kaz, the foolishness at being hoodwinked by Rollins again that he describes as causing such anger within himself whilst at the Van Eck house but also LITERALLY REFLECTS AND PROBABLY SERVES AS A CLEAR CUT REMINDER OF THE HERTZOON SCAM. We know Kaz is a pretty big on poetic justice (see Fillip and the wind up dogs torture/murder, stealing from the bank that was involved in the scam, the use of Alby against Rollins, etc) and I can’t help but wonder if that’s what this was intended to be in his mind, but there’s also the possibility that this wasn’t an active decision he made and only occurred to him afterwards when he saw Rollins and had that strange “sense of doubling” and saw both situations and both failures so clearly reflected and

i also think by fridging tante heleen they took a lot away from inej’s personal journey, the manipulation and abuse she experienced, the horror of being caught back in those fake silks, the triumph stealing the jewel right off her neck, all these things inej worked through herself and did for herself in the books become something solely for kaz to save her from, and sure he’s always played a part in her freedom but those steps were really important for inej to work through her trauma originally. consolidating inej’s trauma from heleen/the menagerie and his own into the one villain who was already always his to vanquish was such a bad move

Kanej - Orpheus & Eurydice AU

Hi lovelies, this is the third time trying to upload this so hopefully it works this time (and sorry to everyone who got tagged in posts that didn’t work properly and/or didn’t exist by the time you saw the notification), I am so incredibly excited to tell you that the first two chapters of my new Kanej fic “Somehow, Through the Storm” will be released on tumblr and AO3 THIS MONDAY (16th Sept)

This is a Hadestown-inspired take on an Orpheus and Eurydice reimagining, casting Kaz and Inej as our main characters. It will be a kanej centric fic but feature all of the crows, as well as aspects of wesper and helnik relationships, set in an alternate version of the Grishaverse with an adapted magic system. I’m so excited and I may or may not have gone a teensy bit overboard so with that in mind and with three days to go, please enjoy this trailer I made for the story!!

So, it’s clear that Sky Chime, Dinky, and Rosey won’t all be getting the same cutie marks as the CMC did in canon. Especially since Sky Chime already has her cutie mark. Will Dinky and Rosey get their cutie marks at the same time though like the CMC did? If they did it would probably make Sky Chime feel more isolated. Also, do you have any plans for their cutie marks? 

Very true! One of the things I dislike in Friendship is Magic was the CMC all getting their Cutie Marks at the same time. Giving Sky Chime her secret Cutie Mark was a way to be able to prevent that from the jump - in addition to my narrative reasons of course.

So no, Dinky and Rosy won’t be getting their marks at the same time. It’ll be a plot point going forward and their attitude will be ‘None of us have our Cutie Marks until we All have our Cutie Marks’. Sky will have some anxiety about the girls finding out her secret and you’ll see that in future drawings.

As for their talents, I do have plans for those, and I wanna publish the drafts to show where I’m going with them, but idk, should I spoil it or make it special? Y’all’s can tell me what you think I should do regarding updates.

A hint to it though, is that for Rosy, Sky and Dinky their Cutie Mark stories reflect an aspect of growing up within hints I already gave to what they struggle with. So I have actually put in subtle seeds for the answers, but I will elaborate more as I draw more things!
