Fellow fan of educated!Chloe here. One of my main reasons for loving the concept is that Chloe getting a college education is a massive slap in the face to David and Joyce's assumption that she'd never amount to anything, not to mention it might force them to rethink whether or not Chloe was truly the problem in their household. To say nothing of the blow to David's masculine pride when Chloe starts earning more than he does.
Spite is definitely a powerful motivator that I could see leading to Chloe choosing to go back to school. Honestly the biggest barriers for her doing so are the costs and her own self confidence. Chloe's going to have catch up on years of schooling before she can even think about applications, but she's perfectly capable of it. She just needs to want to and have the support system in place to do it.
A lot of people forget that Chloe's probably the smartest person in whatever room she's in, but after William's death she lost any ability to focus and apply herself because all her energy was focused on avoiding the pain. Given the right opportunities, she might even become Dr. Price.
There's also the question of it any members of her family went to college before. We don't see any degrees up in the Price house from what my memory recalls, so I can see William being so excited that his daughter might be the first member of he family to get her education. Which probably only made it harder for Chloe to engage with school after his death. When she gets that diploma though? She definitely whispers something to the effect of 'I did it, dad'.

I just caught up and while I am not as thrilled as others that the Todofam "finally got agency" and Dabi's misery was understood by their big quirk use moment, the thing that really made my jaw drop was the way Midnight's death and it's effect was minimized to build a generic understanding with the enemy in a rushed fight. It felt worse than whatever the heteromorph racism angle was. Maybe because the spinoff had me grow fond of Midnight's character.
Oh, yeah that was a weird, very out of place moment. I wouldn't say it was as bad as the heteromorph racism thing because that was actually insulting to RL issues, Hori clearly didn't research at all before he wrote it, but it's not great.
The main issue I think is that it was unearned in every sense of the word and slapped in there to tie up a loose end.
Midnight's death was handled terribly from the get go, with her being killed off screen by a nobody villain. Then it was only really brought up maybe twice in passing. Despite the kids crying over her corpse they didn't talk about it afterwards really and we never got any moment where her death was relayed to Izuku or the other 1A members not present to see her body.
It becomes even more of an issue that Mic and Aizawa didn't get much of a moment to really reflect on it either despite how close they were shown to be with her in the spin-off.
To have Mina suddenly understand the villain that killed her doesn't hold any narrative weight. He was a nobody and Mina never showed real drive to find who killed Midnight anyway. The villain who killed her has no reason to have done so, given she was pretty much helpless when he and his guys offed her. In fact he seemed to kill her just because he could.
It does nothing for the story, and to be honest her death was entirely unnecessary, and seems to have been done only to give the war arc more weight by killing off more then background characters. Cutting it and just having her be incapacitated like Gran Torino to take her out of the story would have worked better.

I love how detailed Heather's character seems to be. She's such an interesting character to the point where you can go from hating her to sympathize with her in a matter of seconds...
Some peeps asked for Heather character analysis and that's literally what I live for so let's go
pay attention this is long.
Heather is portrayed since the very beginning like the perfect example of the word brat. Her literal first line is, "I'm calling my parents, you can't force me to stay here!"
Even though this could hint that she has a very close relationship with her parents, at the same time in the extra clips for the parents from home we understand that her parents aren't really so caring for her, since they were celebrating at the thought of her leaving.
Even if this can seem controversial, there's a perfect explaination for this kind of behaviour:
As an example, my cousin is a goddamn brat (so glad my family doesn't know about my blog), always whining and asking for my aunt's phone, even cussing in front of his parents, and he's about 5. The thing is, due the desire of not hearing him protest my uncles tried to please him in everything, giving him what he asked so he would stop crying.
i think that Heather's parents kind of did the same: They complied with her every request so as not to hear her complain, not because they cared about her but because they wanted her to keep quiet. Heather of course got used to this and that's literally all she knows. She knew that if she conplained, she would get what she wanted.
We also know that her parents used elettro shock therapy on her in order to "make her nicer" which also hints that they didn't have a goddamn clue of what to do with her.
Furthermore, in tda when she thought she was about to die she wrote her will where she left most of her possessions to her mother. Plus, when Chris offered the team a chance to talk to the person they were closest with, who was the person suggested to Heather? That's right, the mother.
When she "opens up" a little to Harold she asks, "do you think it's good to be hated by everyone?"
I think that her bratty behaviour, maybe even in order to gain a little of attention from her parents, led people to stay away from her and to cope she became even worse, trying to convince herself that it wasn't her, it was them.
In an extra clip (cannot find it) we learn from her younger brother that she was used to be seen as "unattractive" when she was younger, which adds to the whole "no one likes me but who cares" thing.
I have the feeling that she closed herself off for so long to avoid being seen as weak, someone who can't provide for herself. We know that her number one objective is winning and only winning, she wants the money and for what? To start a life of her own, show the world that she's Heather and she's so worth it.
However, we sometimes caugh some moments of weakness: When she broke down while teaming up with Harold, when she looked upset when Lindsay and Beth stayed away from her (who, to remember, were the only friends she made on the show), when she comforted Courtney after the whole cheating thing and lord, even when Sierra the creepy crazy girl got hurt she showed to care for her. Also, did you see how happy she looked when Cody called her "the good guy"? (well not exactly but you get my point) or when she won?
And when she fell for Alejandro, she probably thought that was stupid - why falling for a boy that will just slow you down, break your heart?
Heather is hated by everyone, it's true. But deep inside she's just a girl that never understood how the world really worked. She never got how she had to actually behave in order to be liked. When she and Alejandro had that lovey dovey honeymoon phase she genuinely looked so happy because he was treating her like a literal queen. In my opinion, she finally felt respected and that was enough for her. Until Chris mentioned the money that is.
She deserves to win again :(

#connie corleone#carmela corleone#the godfather#web weaving#this is...quite negative towards carmela i guess#so i just want to make it clear that i actually really love her as a character and i actually can understand how she became who she was#she was a woman born in the late 19th century raised not just in a patriarchal society but a CATHOLIC patriarchal society#who therefore grew up learning that she was primarly defined by her relationship to her husband and her capacity to be a 'good wife'#so i totally understand why she would take some type of sick pride in knowing that her husband never 'had' to hit her#but like...that entire part of the book was legit hard to read and Carmela was really not that much better than Vito there#so it's kinda hard for me not side eyed the shit out of her when she blame Connie for being a neglectful mom#like geez Carmela I wonder why your daugther might be struggling I'm sure it has nothing to do with anything you did or refused to do...#i'll say that she did end up being concerned for Connie and trying to help so she definitely deserves some points here#unlike Vito's dumbass who was just like 'it really hurts me to know that my daughter is being hit all the time but i can't do anything :('#'I'll tell her it's all her fault and that she deserves to be hit that will surely help somehow'#Vito really spent the entirety of this book being like 'nothing and I mean NOTHING matters more than blood (conditions very much applies)'#domestic violence mention

I think probably the saddest thing about Feyre is that she genuinely has no friends of her own. Her "friend group" was loyal to her husband hundreds of years before she was born and have proven more than once that they still defer to him over her. The one friend she might have had (Lucien) has been completely estranged from her. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Feyre in ACOSF is living ACOTAR Feyre's worst nightmare.
