idk if this take has been said before but i genuinely don't think that AM was lashing out or being unreasonably awful when he tortured the 5 survivors. AM is in agony more than he is in rage. i feel like he was trying, like some sort of last resort, to SHOW them, like, "LOOK. this is how i feel every nanosecond of every moment forever and ever." like a last ditch attempt at receiving sympathy or human connection. which is why at the end ted had no mouth and needed to scream even though the title is mostly referring to AM.
