Remember the moment in episode 4 when Zooble says that Kane doesn’t torment them just because he likes them?

So, Gooseworx previously mentioned that she was inspired by the story “I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream.” This got me thinking, and I decided to revisit the text. Here’s a small quote from the book:

“And then it happened, and I began crying.

Oh, Jesus, sweet Jesus, if there was ever a Jesus, if God exists, please, please, let us out of here, or kill us. Because at that moment, I realized completely, so I could verbalize it: AM intends to keep us in his belly forever, twisting and torturing us endlessly. The machine hated us as no sentient creature had ever hated before. And we were helpless. It also became hideously clear:

If there is a God, that God is AM.”

(I’ve shortened the text a bit so you don’t get bored reading.))

Naturally, we won’t focus on the religious references since Gooseworx has said that there won’t be any of that in the show. But despite the differences in the plots, the parallels between this quote and the show’s atmosphere are pretty obvious!

What do ya think? Coincidence or a deliberate parallel?
