Small Annoyances as a Polyfragmented System
There are certain patterns and events that we see in our life (mainly in system spaces) that get under our skin as a polyfrag system that smaller systems don't seem to be able to relate to. In an attempt to spread information on what it's like to be a polyfrag system – because goodness knows it's hard to find that – we've created this list of those annoyances, along with examples and explanations of why we find them annoying. Although, this turned into a vent post by the end, so... you have been warned!
Disclaimer: this post mainly applies to our personal experiences. We're sure that other polyfrag systems (and probably other large systems) may be able to relate to some of the things here, but you don't have to relate to any or all of them to be a real polyfrag system.
Polyfragmented Annoyances:
Most system tips do not work with our system because they're based in having a small member count. Anything that starts with "Have every system member..." is a no-go, because it is impossible for us to include every system member in system activities. There's a bunch of people in dormancy, whole sidesystems that we've barely explored, and even counting only the members we know could potentially participate, that's still hundreds of people to go through. It's not gonna work out. "Every system member" is not an achievable goal.
Blurring and other identity confusion happens a lot more often than you'd think, since a lot of us are fragments or otherwise not "full" headmates. When you don't check all the boxes to be a fully independent system member and constantly need at least one other member around to get even basic stuff done, it can be easy to lose track of where the line between you and another system member is.
On that note, co-fronting is a necessity and people outside the system (whether system or singlet) don't seem to understand that very often. We need to have multiple people in front – our system is not designed to have only one person alone controlling the body and aware of what's going on. Whereas most other systems experience negative side effects if they have too many headmates fronting, we more often experience negative side effects if not enough headmates front, and that can create a lot of estrangement when the former is usually the only example of fronting arrangement issues you can find. In addition, people outside the system (mostly singlets, but some systems too) don't seem to understand the implications of "We usually/almost always have a crowded front." Any interactions you have with one of us are going to be overseen, filtered through, and influenced by everyone else in front; if you're building a relationship* with one of us, you're probably building a relationship with several others, too.
Having to do so much more work to keep track of everyone. Organizing headmates by sidesystem, subsystem, etc can be a hassle, and system mapping becomes a lot more difficult when you've got a lot of people to include in your map. You not only have to frequently register new members in things such as Pluralkit and SimplyPlural, but you have to update that data as they learn more about themselves and the system develops, so we end up taking hours to just sit down and go through as many headmates as we can. Simply put, keeping any records of our system is so much more complicated because we're polyfragmented, even if it's just something basic like writing down everyone's names.
Introjects often face a name struggle that they wouldn't if we were a smaller system. Because of how often we get multiple introjects of the same character or person, every introject is expected to take up some kind of nickname so they can be more easily identified and identity issues aren't too frequent, which is its own troublesome process. Especially when we see small systems who don't need to do this... it can make us a bit jealous at times.
It's difficult to find anything about systems of our size. Most systems on platforms like TikTok and YouTube are small, so it's hard to find videos about larger systems. Most systems in fiction, whether they're positive representation or the usual stock-horror serial killer stereotype, have a small number of members so audiences don't get lost or confused. Even within the system community in settings like on Tumblr, it can be hard to find other large systems talking about their own experiences and how they differ from smaller systems – in fact, the experiences of small systems are seen as the "right" experiences in some cases, so if a large system goes outside of that, they are seen as "faking," "promoting unhealthy behavior," etc. We just want to find posts about us that go beyond one-sentence shout-outs, c'mon.
Related to that second-to-last bit, common polyfrag experiences are treated as automatic signs of "faking." Oh, you have a lot of headmates? Faker! You have more than one introject of or from the same source? Faker! You gain new members easily? Faker! Your headmates have highly specific roles? Faker! Some headmates don't have roles because others already handle those jobs? Faker! You often have multiple people in co-front or co-con? Faker! JFC, why is my existence automatically seen as a lie?! A lot of these fakeclaimers supposedly "support" polyfrag systems, too, but then the second a polyfrag system is, y'know, polyfrag, oooohhhh noooo, time to write a call-out about how they're "obviously faking it."
*"Relationship" is used as a general term here and does not refer solely to romantic relationships.
In conclusion, being polyfragmented comes with a lot of small annoyances that aren't helped by how, even in system spaces, we're often misunderstood, mocked, and fakeclaimed. It'd be nice to find more content or resources about/for polyfrag systems, but I'm not holding my breath.

Being polyfragmented is SO WEIRD. It is like a pretty unstable form of regular DID. I say this with my own experience in mind, and having seen other people's experiences.
Like, it doesn't present at all like its got a million dissociative barriers, and the barriers between some alters are thinner than others.
I can't help but notice that those who are polyfragmented tend to have trauma surrounding being gaslit and have a hard time accepting themselves in any capacity. Like there is no singular self state that they can look to and say "That is real". Its always more than one, or a changing self state, a swirling pot of attributes.
I wonder if being gaslit or made to feel like you're crazy, any way links up to the development of one's disorder. Because being gaslit isn't just being lied to, it makes you feel like you are not the one being honest, like you are overexaggerating or lying or denying something or the one who is crazy, that you are not trustworthy to see reality.
I don't think every polyfragmented system has this, but it is quite a lot of them, to which has an incredibly unstable self-state. Including myself. I not only have two co-hosts (three in total), but I also have many, MANY self state fragments and introjects, forming my own sort of collective. I feel the large amount of alters and fragments are to help strengthen the self state, and the dissociation exists within the self too, not just with the other.
And this is not to say that's not how all systems work. Technically all alters are part of the self and exist within the self. But for most systems, that's not how it actually presents itself to be. There is you and other alters, there is you and other parts.
Within polyfragmented systems, however, there is not just you and other parts, but different parts within the part that is you. Different self states within your main self state. Even though other alters are also technically part of you, they are different from self parts and fragments that make you up. Almost every separated alter, in my system, has some self state part within them. I refer to those self state parts (usually fragments) as asteroids and every separated alter to be planets. And any subsystem alter to be a moon.
And that adds up to be many, many alters. The original definition of polyfragmented happens to be "100+ alters", but never explains why. And polyfragmented systems seem to be structurally different from regular DID, so polyfragmented doesn't make sense that its left as "big system" as the main definition. In fact, big systems won't always have this unstable structure of systemhood.
And I do find it to be unstable. Many polyfragmented systems that I've met have had an internal rearranging and reforming of different alters, ending up with an unstable self, able to change at any sign of danger. But there are other polyfragmented systems like me, who create collections of alters, adding more when there is more stressors. And instead of reforming, each alter gains more. Each subsystem grows larger, each collection becomes bigger. And yes, there will be some alters that don't exist within other's orbit, but are not connected specifically. These alters will eventually form their own orbit at some point. Odds and ends have their uses.
And I don't know if there is a structural form of dissociation beyond tertiary, and its possible that polyfragmented systems are unstable because they have two structures on top of one another.
And this may explain why polyfragmented systems present similar to systems with no amnesia. Because they are a mix of multiple dissociative structures, causing them to have a more unique or unstable experience.
And this is not to say this makes those who are polyfragmented, to have more severe trauma. I doubt that is the case. Even though ritual abuse or religious abuse is common in those who have this type of dissociative disorder. I feel like the reasons for that is because of how ritual abuse manipulates its victim, to alter their perceptions and control their perceptions. Similar to how people, who are victims of gaslighting, have altered perceptions due to the way that they were abused.
And I feel as though those with polyfragmented systems have inconsistent perceptions due to that trauma. Even if different alters hold different memories, its precisely why, that we have such an inconsistent perception and memory. Even within one's own self state, there is inconsistencies for a reason. And it's trying to combat the specific type of abuse/trauma that they faced.
So, I don't obviously have a bunch of sources, this is all just conjecture. Stuff I've learned via my own experiences, research, what people have told me, and posts I've read within this community. But, this may be an important post for people to think about, build upon or look into. I surely do not have all the answers, but I recommend anyone reading this, to look into things I've mentioned further. Hopefully, as a community, we can figure things out together.

I like thinking about how plurality changes and functions depending on the neurodivergencies a system has.
Not only CDD based plurality, mind you. We've seen countless of times how ADHD and Autistic hyperfixations and Sp/Ins can cause a lot of introjects to appear. Same goes for any obsessions. Our Autistic obsession caused a big introject explosion, raising our numbers to 100 in comparison to our usual 30-40.
We also came to a conclusion that several of our headmates appeared just due to a person being close to us. As if in search for attention like "Hey look I am your fav character, love us". NPD likes to do that.
Our BPD still comes with it's own share of identity disturbance and it forces on us a lot of completely random fragments used as "masks" for a short period of time or until we wear them again.
It's interesting, for us at the very least.

Note
polyfrag culture is when you start out believing you have p-DID with three alters because the host never switched out but there were fictives causing passive influence.
then you believe you have OSDD-1b with 20+ alters because you don't experience amnesia between switches and no general amnesia.
then your general amnesia increases greatly after your host switches out more frequently and you believe you have DID with 50+ alters.
and suddenly a gatekeeper/manager from a random sub/side system fronts and logs thousands of fragments in their system (not separately, just roughly guessing the number), several other gatekeepers, a clear hierarchy, at least two more separate inner world spaces, a memory holder fragment that's always in front (explains the low amnesia), certain rules that apply to certain inner world areas, etc. etc..... also we have no host anymore and amnesia is at an all time high
and we're STILL in denial every other day. introject heavy? denial. low splitting tolerance? denial. trauma? not bad enough for polyfrag, so denial. but also trauma? probably not even real. so: the system is also not real = denial.
doesn't help that we have designated denial holders who are sometimes sent to flood the front whenever someone's digging too far into our trauma history.
but we also don't feel polyfrag enough to be polyfrag. we're still relatively small in comparison to other polyfrag systems. we don't split more than three alters at once unless they split far away from front where no one notices it. we don't have layers unless we don't know about them. we have 1-3 subsystems from which one of them acts like a side system in a way.
we're medically recognized with DID with a complex structure (so basically C-DID), so where does all this denial come from 😭
oops that post was longer than intended
can we claim🖤🌷?
Yes you can!

All of my DID Research for FOOL's MATE So Far
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CRITQUE THIS IF YOU ARE A SYSTEM! IF THERE'S ANYTHING YOU THINK I SHOULD ADD, PLEASE TELL ME IN ETHER THE COMMENTS, REBLOG THIS, DM ME OR THROUGH THE ANNONOMOUS FEEDBACK FORM.
Taken from the FOOL's MATE research doc
Introduction
Mikoto has Dissociative Identity Disorder. This means that he has multiple personalities/identities called “Alters”. DID is developed by repeated trauma typically before the age of 9 or 10 while one’s identity is not fully formed yet. In order to keep the host safe and functioning, the brain dissociates from those experiences and amnesia walls are put up. These walls interfere with the identity from fully integrating, and because of that, multiple identities are created. DID is the most severe form of PTSD.
Terminology
General
Alter: An individual “personality”. Alters are their own entities with their own consciousness, opinions and free will. They are each their own person, not a personality. They have their own names, genders, sexualities, ages or other identity traits. Alter is short for “Alternate Stare of Identity”.
System: The group of alters in one’s body. Sometimes, the system gives itself a name. For simplicity's sake, I will be calling Mikoto’s system the “Kayano System” or "Kayano Sys".
Inner World: A world that the mind has made for all the alters to live and communicate in. This is sometimes called “Headspace”.
Integration/Fusion: The act of 2 or more alters becoming one. This can happen randomly, when an alter is unneeded or from an alter coming to terms with or processing trauma. The new alter may change genders or names.
Split(ting): The formation of a new alter.
Switching / Fronting
Switch: The act of the alter who is in control of the body changing and switching to another. They can look slow, fast, immedient, very dissociated or many other things. They can also be intentional or unintentional.
Front(ing): The alter who is in control of the body.
Co-Fronting: When multiple altars are in front at once. This can differ from system to system.
Triggered Switch: These switches are not desired by any of the alters involved and occur when a stimulus has been registered that forces out an alter who can better handle it.
Co-Conscious: When one alter is close enough to the front to know what’s going on in the outer world but isn’t in front. This is often called “Co-Con”.
Think of being able to tell what’s going on outside like a house. Someone is talking in a room and the closer you get to them (front), the more you can hear.
Roles
Host: The alter who is in front the most and handles day-to-day activities. This is seen as the main alter. These are not necessarily the “original” alter. However, it’s very common for the host to be the alter that has been around for the longest. Co-Hosts can also exist.
Protector: The alter who’s job is to protect the system from more harm whether it be physical, mental or emotional. There are many possible types of protectors like personal, primary, sexual, physical, spiritual, emotional and more. Protectors can slightly manipulate who is in front.
Gatekeeper: The alter who is essentially like the administrator for the system. They can choose who fronts and manages/has access to all the memories in the system. They help the system stay organized and make sure nobody is remembering trauma they can't handle.
Caretaker: They take care of and comfort the system or body.
Fragment: An alter that is not fully differentiated or developed. They may exist to carry out a single function, to hold a single memory or to represent a single idea. It’s possible for fragments to develop into more elaborate alters if the need arises or with further use.
Types
Trauma Holder: An alter who holds trama.
Non-Human: Sometimes, alters may appear as something other than human.
Introject: An alter who is based on a real person. The amount that they are based on someone can vary.
Fictive: An introject of a fictional character.
Little: A child alter. They stopped developing during the initial trauma or they extant to retain a type of childhood that the system was unable to experience.
Others
Dissociative Amnesia: Not necessarily a DID thing and is really only a symptom. This is caused by someone unconsciously repressing traumatic or stressful memories as a coping mechanism.
Singlet: Someone who doesn't have DID.
ANPs: Apparently Normal Parts have little knowledge of trauma. They are the rational, present-oriented and grounded parts of the system that handle daily life.
EPs: Emotional Parts have awareness of trauma. They are the parts that represent dissociation and are often drawn to the front by reminders of trauma and may not experience much of everyday life.
Notes
Physical reflexes can differ between alters.
The debated average number of alters in a system is around 10-20 but you only need at least 2 alters to have DID.
Switching can also cause headaches and migraines.
DID is the most extreme form of PTSD.
PTSD > CPTSD > DID
Medication cannot help DID it’s self. It can only manage symptoms such as anxiety or depression.
Some alters may be neither apparently normal nor emotional parts but a combination of both.
Stress alone or in combination with genetics is not enough to cause PTSD.
Misconceptions
What it is & How it’s formed
Someone can develop this but not have any symptoms until they are older. That is likely the case with Mikoto.
Not all alters have trauma.
DID isn’t always formed from abuse but it’s the most common way it’s formed. It’s not linked to a certain type of abuse.
It’s not a personality disorder. It’s a trauma disorder.
What are people with DID like?
People with DID can do anything someone without it can.
Not all systems or alters are dangerous.
Alter Relationships
Alters can be in any type of relationship.
It's not always fun to have multiple people in your head. It's like a roommate you can't escape.
All alters are responsible for each other’s actions.
Alters can get into arguments and have their own opinions of other alters.
Kayano System
Roles
Mikoto: Host
John: Protector (ex-fragment)
Midokoto: Gatekeeper
Notes
They’re communication is horrible, if not non existent.

Hi! Not sure if this falls into the kinds of questions you answer but I thought it was worth a shot anyway. I totally understand if this isn’t something you can help with though, and sorry in advance this is probably going to be to be pretty long^^
So we have a friend who’s a system, and they’re our closest friend. In the past we’ve gotten several headmates that were based on/shared an aesthetic with our friend (like the colors and types of images they use in their online profiles, that’s what I mean by aesthetic). I’m guessing this is because these headmate were forming and needed some material/something to latch onto and that was already in our mind because of our friend, but no problem, no one owns aesthetics. The issues is recently we introjected someone from their system, someone who happens to be very complicated. Their source is a horror media we can’t engage with for mental health reasons, but we know enough to know that the character they’re sourced from isn’t a good person, they are quite literally the most bad a person can be (I know probably doesn’t make sense but I don’t want to explain more for privacy reasons). And the introject in our friends system, while genuinely being a good enough person, has caused issues for that system internally and it’s still very much affecting their whole system. Our introject of them seems to be alright in that regard, and besides we can handle anything internally very easily so there are really never any serious problems, but we’re more worried about the external consequences. We can’t remember exactly but we are pretty sure our friend isn’t comfortable with sourcemates or doubles or most people knowing their sources so I doubt they’d be comfortable with an introject of That Guy. So this stressed us out but we waited a while to see if our introject would stick around, because we are polyfragmented so we often have fragments that come and go, but no, it seems that they are here to stay. We’re paranoid of our friend finding out so our introject can’t speak as themself anywhere online, but the only space they’d feel comfortable speaking as themself is our friends server anyway. They can’t use another name or profile picture or anything because anything related to them is very distinct and because our friend literally has the Guy too I feel like it’d be an obvious give away. Plus they have a very distinct typing quirk and way of talking. So why bother hiding all this to be themself when it’s the same as just masking as the collective anyway? So they can’t do anything online or unmask offline so they’re trapped and it sucks. And beyond that, our guy feels a bit guilty for existing and we’re all stressed out about this. Our friend is really cool and we have no doubt they’d be understanding about this, but we know it would make them uncomfortable and especially for those hurt by that systems introject. So we want to be honest about this with them because lying isn’t great, and suppressing our guy like this isn’t fair to them, but is it worth it knowing it will upset our friend??
So I guess this isn’t so much a question as a ‘this is the situation, advice would be appreciated’, but thanks for even reading this if you’ve made it this far!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh wow anon that is a lot/not neg/nbr
We are so sorry that you are feeling so anxious/gen
And we hope that the Introject is doing ok/gen
Honestly…we think that you should just tell them
Maybe bring up the reasons why you did not want to and the fact that you feel anxious/gen/nf
But as a system that has some Introject that do not like sourcemates/doubles(Specifically me as I’m a (mainly) Link fictive and I’m very uncomfy with Link IRLS, Fictives and Fictionkin) but we know that…if someone we were friends with Introjected a Link fictive  we would NOT BE UPSET or hurt cuz you CANNOT CONTROL THOSE THINGS
Now I personally would not want to interact with that fictive(mainly due to the fact that it would trigger my NPD) BUT the rest of the members are totally ok to talk to em-
We think that if your friend is a good friend they will not blame you(they may at first but they shouldn’t take that out on you)
Also a quick note it’s a bit (concerning) that they would (hypothetically) not be able to understand the fact that those two individuals are SEPARATE BEINGS and will NOT BE THE SAME as the other one- ( for example we have a fictive that has hurt others in the system but if we met another fictive of him we would NOT get uncomfy with them cuz they are SEPARATE BEINGS)
But again this is just our thoughts and we are just one perspective on this/gen
We do hope that everything will go smoothly/gen

hi! on anon because im paranoid + this might be triggering
i saw your post abt splitting and de ided to give my two cents because i formally had a low split tolerance but since devloping better coping mechanisms i rarely split anymore but i do have a large headcount from the years i spent easily splitting
my trauma started in the womb, as in my mother was being abused while pregnant with me and i was then born into that same environment. basically i was screwed from the start with zero development of coping skills outside of dissociation. i was being traumatised daily until i was 16 when my parents divorced amd things settled down. i dont remember what splitting was like back then but i did fall down the did trend pipeline and would exaggerate my alters and create source memories for them to fit in with everyone. looking back it was regular person introjection i mistook for did introjects because of how the community showed it to be a quirky fun thing
im a young adult now and splitting is pretty painful for me, i typically split in groups of one main alter and a bunch of fragments, tho the last time i split was several months ago now and theyre "brainmade" alters (hate that term but used to explain) , i only have two proper fictional introjects - both from childhood, i have far more abuser introjects which are the most commonly split introjects i have.
richard klufts paper 'phenomenology and treatment of extremely complex mpd' goes over polyfragmention if you havent read it before! its my favourite paper that properly goes into what it is with so much misinfo online:)
Thank you so much for sharing this! I don't have much to add here but I think people need to hear it.
I hope you're doing much better now!

Dress up fragment/Costumed Fragment/Cosplay fragment
Look, I had several name ideas. The second two are obvious but the first is actually dress up games.
Flag is meant to be redesigned if desired
Fragments that aren’t formed enough to hold onto identities, but will periodically try on introjected identities before losing them.
(This Blog was created to repost terms for the convenience and comfort of others. If you remake a reclaimed flag please tag me.)

pls…pls infodump about ur system and the innerworkings of it….do it for my hyperfxation 🦅🦅🦅
OKAY, INFODUMP BUPIS
How did we choose our collective names? Because they cringy
-Because it sounds nice Nana
PD: We have another collective name, Zuki, and we pulled that one out of our asses
How many are we?
-We are more than 200 now, most being trauma carriers, alters busy with protection, protection in specific situations and some non-humans
What is our hierarchy system like?
In order it would be:
-Main host
-The superiors
-Advice
-Zone caretakers
-the rest xd
Extras (I love to talk):
-There have already been 8 fusions, and several sleeping alters
-We knew from shortly before we were 11 that something was wrong with our memory, and at 12 we realized that there are more than one of us BY LETTERS (and because Kate made us reflect)
-We were 3 hosts at the moment, Host Anon (he plans to change his name and doesn't want to remember when he was a host), Nyo (a very problematic 12-year-old boy and we will soon be in the process of being diagnosed with BPD for him) and me, , host since last year I think, and surely the best known, since I am the one who currently manages the accounts and I am the one who introduces us to the world before (don't judge)
OUR inner world
Our inner world is an underground forest. In the middle of everything there is a mansion that over time and fragmentation has grown and has been transformed into a castle (although we still call it a mansion because it sounds better tbh)
There are several, but truly, SEVERAL areas in which different identities are distributed, such as in the cave area and similar places that contain water, marine alters normally live there.
The internal world expands and changes often, but something that does not change is a large wall that some exploring Alters still do not know what it is for, and no matter how much they try to overcome it, something always happens that interrupts them and does not allow them to finish investigating.
Also deeper there is a hospital (which, before being a hospital, is a house) inhabited by several introjects who do not feel comfortable in the main mansion, although they still visit regularly to hang out.
In the main area there is Dum's bus, littles' play area, Lilith's greenhouse, Nurse's study/infirmary and more.
I don't have much of an explanation because I don't remember anything haha (I'm in frontstuck, help)

as someone with DID, i will admit that self-diagnosis in online communities based on little research and a desire for community IS an issue. as someone just finding out and learning about this disorder i had, i ended up surrounded by people whose experiences i did not relate to and could not no matter how hard i tried, because i was in circles where people blindly self-diagnosed based on very little. i tried so hard to make myself relate to them that my symptoms worsened and my alters fragmented themselves more. i outright lied about experiencing certain things. it was awful.
HOWEVER. it is disgusting that you people are making unsubstantiated claims about fictional introjects and the disorder as a whole. DID affects an estimated 2% of the population. that's one in 50 people.
you know someone with DID. that is a certainty.
we hear you and you make us ashamed of this disorder that we cannot hide and that we cannot get rid of. even if we have no introjects, or our introjects are only of abusers, or we don't have more than the average amount of alters, or our dissociation is severe and our memory problems worse. we hear you talking about how "everyone online is faking DID" and sure, there are "good ones." but am i one of the good ones to you? i'm not looking to find out.
introjects (fictional or otherwise, but i will admit this issue trends toward fictional ones) are so common as to be noted in any informative text about DID that explains any kind of ins or outs or tries to classify dissociative parts in any way. alters can split at any time once that is recognized as a coping mechanism by the brain, and as often as the brain deems it necessary (which, if you're actively in a hostile home situation like many young people with DID who can't access professional diagnosis are... can be very fucking often.)
you people are vile. just because people who are a little too quick to jump the gun on self-diagnosis tend to have common traits like fictional introjects from recently-popular things doesn't fucking mean that everyone WITH those traits is a faker.
and if someone has falsely self-diagnosed, they will realize it with time and maturity. you shaming them is not helping any of us.
Posting since this is a response to a previous ask.

Aita for encouraging my (in system) partner to not openly identify himself as a fictive to our singlet friend?
Recently we've come out as a system to a friend (I was. Heavily against this but I've been trying to reflect on it a lot. And things have been patched up) this friend is a singlet and I care about them a lot. But i get really anxious about losing them if we act too system like (something I'm trying to work on) therefore i normally just present as if I'm just the host. And I'm not the only one doing this.
I am also a fictive, and in a relationship with two other fictives in the system. I consider myself disconnected from my source. (I was a non-fictive fragment for a while before I started latching onto my source.)
But both of them are a lot more connected to it. Especially B.
I've, discouraged B from directly telling our friend they are a fictive. (Somewhat accidentally. Thoughts are very easily overheard in our system and B and I co-front a lot) and B agreed. He isn't masking or anything. (That would be too far. I think xey has a right to express themself.) Just not explicitly stating that he isn't the host.
Another layer of anxiety is that the character b is a introject is a fairly recent addition to the piece of media he's from. And that character is also one of the friends favorite. And we just arent actually sure how good they are about fictives (they were really accepting when we told them, and they do have other system friends but we've never seen them interact with another system. And I'm a anxious mess)
B is entirely fine with this situation. Xey has stated multiple times that it's their choice and if they wanted they would actively identify themself to this friend. And they understand my reasoning (and A, our other in-sys partner agrees) but. I have a bad history of being really shit about the fact that we are a system (I've actively gotten in several fights with the host in the past.) So I'm worried I'm just being irrational and stopping my partner from fully being themself for like. No reason.

Can alters like...unintentionally faceclaim? I have several alters who cant imagine what they look like at all, they just know they dont vibe with the body. Recently one of them started being able to see themselves but as a character of a show we only recently watched. Whenever they think of themselves they see this character. Theyre pretty sure theyre not a fictive since theyve been around awhile and we only saw this show 3-4 days ago. But a lot of people say faceclaiming is intentional and theres nothing intentional about this, it just happens. Idk if this explains it very well
Hiya! We definitely do think something like this could happen! >w<
It’s worth noting that I (Ralsei!) existed in my system long before Deltarune (my source) came out… but I still totally identify as a fictive! I was more of a fragment before I unconsciously latched on to Ralsei from Deltarune, and it was 100% unintentional. It just sorta happened quite suddenly and involuntarily!
Honestly we’re not really sure what “faceclaim” means… like you claimed the face of someone else? And it has to be intentional or else it’s something different? Sorry, we’re not too knowledgeable about that term specifically, but as a fictive I can confidently say that something really similar happened to me!
Of course, your alter might choose not to identify as a fictive or an introject at all, and that’s totally okay!! They might be fictionkin or fictionhearted or just really identify with that character! We just wanted to say that what I went through when figuring out my identity sounds kinda like what your alter is going through :3 so it surely can happen! And it’s okay for stuff like this to happen! Even if other folks say it can’t… what do they know about you and y’all’s system, really? >w<
💚 Ralsei and 🌷 Corrie (mostly Ralsei though hehe :3)

alright SO if you've been following this blog for a while you likely know that it's run by a system, but we've never properly Gone Over That or introduced people or anything, not that we need to or have to, but i for one would like to. we need to socialize more. also apologies if this post has actually been made before, it's totally possible a different headmate posted it and i didn't know about it. we don't have the best communication.
anyway, some basics: we do not like the term alters, nor personalities. we are all people sharing the same body, and none of us identify as/with the term fragments. so headmates please and thank you <3. we are a median system--specifically, we all feel like we are complete people, but there is incomplete amnesia between us. what this means in practicality is that, generally, you can assume that we remember conversations we've had with you, regardless of who was fronting, because some of us have decent shared memory, but don't be surprised if we have no idea what you're talking about, because some of us have very slight or no memory of what other headmates do, and communication, again, is difficult for us. collectively, we use they/them pronouns. and lastly questions about us or systems in general are 100% fine and welcome!
ok so. now. the system:
jackal, 24, it/its - hi that's me!!! i'm probably the one that most of you know if you've ever messaged us. or if we know each other irl. i have been here the longest, at the very least i remember things from when the body was two.
percy, he/him - hi. i'm a percy de rolo fictive, i think my sourcing is a blend of the stream canon and the fanfic afk, so my pseudomemories are a bit blurry and weird. i don't think i'm very much like my source and may change my name to better reflect myself here, but nevertheless i am still a fictive. i am the newest as i only formed a few months ago.
vax, 26, he/him - (vax is having trouble fronting right now so jackal is writing this.) a vax'ildan fictive with the source of the og stream, he has been around since the body was 6 or 7 and has had several different identities and names from then until now. if you know us irl there's a good chance you've encountered him without knowing it.
wulf, he/him - (refuses to front, again this is jackal) eadwulf grieve fictive, protector, not very present
fallow, somewhere in the 100s but i can't decide, she/any - hi : ) i am i believe what you'd call a mixed source introject? the technical term doesn't interest me too much. it would be nice to talk to some of you : )
loki, doesn't matter, all please. the only person i'm going to talk to is bubbles.
jinx, she/her - (again this is jackal. i just want to acknowledge that she's here. i would Not like her to front)
october, 6, he/him - (jackal--i don't let my littles on the blog. maybe if they were teenagers.)
luna, 3, she/her - (jackal again--same as october.)

hahaahah im changing my lil link in my pinned so heres the explanation for whatever the fuck type of disorder I have.
People know jack shit on whether or not they have DID or OSDD, because they don't get diagnosed properly, so as someone who has not sought diagnosis because personal reasons, it's even less likely I'll know through osmosis
Hahahaha apparently I have repressed memories and I do experience amnesia, but the nature of what I have hides it. Front usually less amnesia, but there's a lot of dissociation between the ANPs and the people who barely front. So, it's kind of bullshit that I cannot recognize what's a memory gap or not, because the further the memories are from present day, the less I'll remember..
So classifications between DID and OSDD are kind of difficult to decipher, because it's based on observed symptoms, and guess what, if you cannot remember what you observed, then it's impossible to tell. I don't fucking know what's going on.
If you asked me to choose one, I'd get mad. It's not my fault that I don't know. And I think people insinuating that those with OSDD are lesser, is a shitty thing that people do. I feel connected to both because my symptoms are atypical for most DID systems, because they can observe their amnesia. For me, I deny it happened, that it's just my ADHD or whatever. I just don't think it's fair that there's such a divide, when it's difficult to identify as it is.
I still think the TOSD is kind of dumb in that,, if more complex versions present as less complex versions, it needs to account for that. People need to be more critical of the information that we know of, and account for how this works. Not for only what's stated.
On the manner of polyfragmention, yeah, I am polyfragmented. That's the only thing I understand about this disorder.
I have more than one ANP, clearly something is up if I have more than one. I didn't know that implied that what I'm experiencing is more complex. It's just weird.
Quite a number of our alters are made up of little individual parts, making each alter fragmented. Especially the main host, where she has several fragments that are a part of her. Not fused, just existing within her. Many of our alters are like that.
Along with the last point, many of our introjects have multiple sources. Such as Alyce, who has sources from many different alice in wonderland medias, but they make up who they are as an alter. Not all of our introjects are like this, but whether or not this is true, we cannot tell.
Our innerworld is a whole universe, it's massive, it's realms stacked on top of/next to each other. There's many layers and many alters that exist within our mindspace. This isn't true for every polyfrag system, but it's true that ours is insanely big. So much so that I'm sure there's alters that don't even know front that well.
If you haven't heard, the 100+ alters thing is kind of bullshit, it changes via too many factors and large systems are not inherently polyfrag. Along with that, the pf systems I've met and interacted with tend to have unique symptoms that get mistaken or misunderstood fairly easily. If people choose to use the "its a large system" definition, I personally think it's kind of dumb, but you do you. I use it to mean fragmented alters and layers of trauma, but whatevs.
Misc thoughts...
We got... lot of trauma too. As to what. Fuck if I know. But we have it. All systems have it even if they do not know. I do not know jack shit about mine.
all systems have dissociative disorders, i will not be taking any other opinions at this time.
anyway if i have more thoughts ill add them. but heres to not knowing whether or not I have DID or OSDD. thanks. its probably one of them, most likely, but im still denying so much. ya.

ALTER LIST!
I’m specifying which parts are more developed and which are more fragmented, but I won’t specify roles quite yet (I may have mentioned them in previous posts) also alphabetical because I’m using our simply plural as a reference. (There’s a lot of us okay? I can’t always remember everyone.) also, I will be using littles names here but I won’t be specifying who is a little.
Developed (more than fragmented. Some are still a bit floaty.)
April
Aria
Astra
Bee
Bunny
Cassie (it’s short for Callisto!)
Charlie (mum says we used to call him tato)
Clover
Draco
Ghost (actually a ghost! But she’s less poltergeist haunt a Victorian manor now.) (she used to be) (it’s funny)
Hestia
Izzy (convinced this is our only introject of a real person but it’s so long since I saw her) (she may also be an introject of a plushie we named after aforementioned person) (that’s more likely)
James
Jem (cutie patootie)
Kat
Kitty (you would think she’s an animal introject, but no! She’s actually an EAH fictive.)
Lily Elliot (thinks spooky things are funny. Waved at prop skeletons on a ride. Several times. She kept riding it just so he could wave to the skeletons. May actually be twins)
Marinette
Mouse
Oscar
Pippin
Poppet
Raven (me)
Sasha
Saturn
Sophie
Teddy
Willow
Honourable mentions are Adrien, Akutagawa, Hunter, Chuuya and Dazai. Mostly formed, but don’t really show up often anymore (they’re very independence and system oriented. They’re needed less when we have more support)
More fragmented alters (some still have distinct personalities, but very fuzzy and less self actualised)
Arno
Atsushi
Berry
Doctor (10 and 11 why did we get two of him??)
Amber
Jamie Lee (imma be fr I don’t know who he is. Never met him. White rooms guy.)
Kyu
Light (has a weird enjoyment of homework, the sea and psychology. And taking a chip… and EATING IT!) (sorry dude)
Lina (lovely lady, sorry I keep being rude and ignoring your advice.)
Maddie (she was fuller once. I hope she gets to be again one day)
May (working on herself! Go girl!)
Monochrome
Narrator (he has a nice voice)
Nebbie (chaos)
Neo (she’s really nice she just doesn’t get much time to be out because she’s nonverbal and that’s usually not helpful)
Papyrus (specifically from hand plates.)
Penny
Ranpo (he’s gonna be mad I put him here but come back when you’ve evolved buddy)
Robin (poor girl didn’t get a chance to develop)
Tobey ‘ickleast’ (we go through a phase for a few months and we get this? No fair.)
