The phenomenon op is talking about it definitely real. I’ve definitely seen those hypotheticals cited multiple times (especially that “knight and convent” one). But this reading of Good Luck Babe does feel a bit like confirmation bias. I don’t think it reads like those other examples at all. I could be wrong but that’s how it seems to me.

Problem 9968
It’s usually the weird or dramatic language that not often but sometimes accompanies it when a character shows heterosexual tendencies that icks me out. Like it’s this pervasive illness that taints you and your sense of empathy forever or that it’s just this horrible thing that’s only performed because you’re secretly traumatized and repressed by society every waking moment. It’s already bad enough that I’m thought to be dirtied for life from being bi and not a lesbian by political lesbians, I don’t need that same type of language in fandom telling me that all my fav female characters are trash for having high school crushes on guys or that every guy can’t possibly like women because they… treat women with basic human decency.

If you don't see kink tags and the writer used CNTW, it's really on you to pass on the fic.

Literally happened to me, and I wasn't only misgendered and called cis, but told I should die. I want to know what world that asshole anon is living in where they think "but but, you're on the gay site" can justify that kind of shit towards other people.

Yeah, they know what you said. It’s just really dumb.
Yes yes, the site has a large queer demographic and a lot of non-queer people into shipping are probably fujoshi and himedanshi folk. This doesn’t mean it’s ok to shit all over m/f pairings.
For one, it’s got the “bi people are only welcome if they only engage in their same sex attraction” and “aro/ace people aren’t valid if they’re on the side of either spectrum that is into the opposite gender” brands of discrimination but also, society being cis/heteronormative doesn’t actually make cis or het people “the enemy”. Some people love to treat queer spaces like it’s the space where you get to discriminate against cishet people the same way society discriminates against you rather than a place where NO discrimination is allowed and we fight against it. Being part of an oppressed group and them not being so doesn’t make you any less of an awful person for doing this.

9958: I spent my whole childhood being bullied by other girls, so based on my own experiences and what other victims of bullying have said, I would question if pick me girls are or were ever a real thing. Every time I've encountered the term it's a bully using it to make people support them instead of their victim: "I'm not being mean to her for no reason, she's one of those awful pick mes!"

Fandom Problem #9972:
Love how people have "--- don't interact" now but they can't even define it and flat out refuse to educate themselves about it. Oh sweet summer children you are both pathetic and lazy as all fuck! It would be hilarious if these people didn't have the ability to vote and decide on people's humanity and policy. It's terrifying. But then again they're probably going to refuse to vote to stick it to the dems and then in so doing help hold the door open to someone they claim to hate who will make things worse for those they also claim to care about. Amazing activism!

Fandom Problem #9971:
First I wanna say this isn't AT or AGAINST Chappel Roan, who I enjoy as an artist and seems like a good person (knock on wood she doesn't end up cancelled before this posts). This isn't even AT the song, which I enjoy as well, but more about the conversation and around and common interpretation of the song -- "Good Luck Babe". People are propping it up as an important song about compulsive heterosexuality and repressed lesbianism. But in the context of the song itself it just sounds like the girl wasn't as into her as she thought.
(When my crush doesn't like me back) "Wow I can't believe compulsive heterosexuality would do this :/"
(When the situationship doesn't work out) "Okay but what if you were a nun and I was a knight and I burned your convent down so we could run away together? What then, huh?"
Overall I read it as more like a venty cope song than the important statement they're trying to make it out to be. Which I don't mean in a bad way because "venty cope" can make some of the best music.
(I can say this having personal experience, being a lesbian who'd had a crush on a bi girl for years who eventually went with a guy and I spent way too long going all "boo hoo woe is me" about it. Sometimes it's not compulsive heterosexuality's fault that the bi girl didn't pick you.)

Fandom Problem #9970:
"AnImE iS fOr PeDoPhIlEs!" "ShE's A mInOr!!" "I'm CaLlInG tHe FbI!!!" Okay let's ignore the fact that every single person who says this kind of shit is either a stupid minor who shouldn't be looking at sexy things anyway or more commonly a genuine pedophile who will be outed within two weeks. Let's put aside the factor that these """Minors""" are not real and every second you waste screaming about anime fans is a second you could've spent A) going after an ACTUAL Child molester or B) minding your own goddamn business. Hell let's even ignore the inherent hypocrisy of how none of these annoying dickheads EVER complain about fujoshi thirsting for young boys.
The thing that really gets me on this topic that I don't see a lot of people talk about, the really REALLY annoying cherry on top of this shit sundae?
99% of these complaints are directed towards girls with at least somewhat mature proportions (ie Very visible, very noticeable BREASTS that are D-cups at minimum) that if you looked at them and knew nothing about the characters at all, you could at least make a REASONABLE ASSUMPTION that they're young adults. For fuck's sake look at the Female cast of MHA, Eri's like the only little girl character, damn near everyone else is stacked enough that their age is almost totally arbitrary. If you saw someone with Momo's proportions in real life you wouldn't think that was a minor, you would reasonably assume that was a young adult, like 17 at the barest minimum.
Uzaki-chan is both the most egregious example of this effect and the number one smoking gun that the "Pedo hunter" antis are and always have been full of shit because not only is she canonically a 20 year old college student, that didn't fucking stop ANY OF THEM for calling people even remotely attracted to her "pedophiles" because God fucking forbid women be short or have cutesy faces EVEN WHEN THEY HAVE TITS AS BIG AS THEIR HEADS, WHICH ANYONE WITH A MODICUM OF SENSE WOULD SEE AND GO "OH MAYBE THIS *ISN'T* A CHILD!"

Fandom Problem #9969:
Writer: "I wanted to write an episode where the main character notices that they gain super strength from drinking gasoline, and starts a havoc in the city but I only could write the premise, I didn't know how to go about the plot."
Some fans: "People are sleeping on that the character can canonically drink gasoline. Why aren't more fics about that?"
Okay, I know this show's canon is kinda muddy. Since it got canned some episodes only have audio recordings and no animation, most of the fandom considers that canon since they have finished scripts by the show writers and voiced by the show's official voice actors and they were supposed to air later.
But this one isn't that! It was just an idea a writer wanted to do, but didn't know how, so they didn't. It doesn't even have a finished script. And this isn't the only episode idea that didn't make it beyond an idea. Are those "episodes" are also canon now?
Don't get me wrong, if you want fanfics based on that idea, there is nothing stopping you for commisioning it or writing it yourself, but can you not call it canon, please? It is not. There was no indication/sign for that in the aired episodes, the unaired episodes, the special and the comics. Granted there was nothing to disprove it either, so if the writers decided to continue the series someday and they figure out how to write that episode, than it'll become canon. But so far it's not, currently it's just a headcanon.
(The episode premise isn't actually that don't worry, I just made up a different plot, so most people don't realize which cartoon I'm talking about)

Fandom Problem #9968:
I really really hate "m/f ships are inherently unhealthy and/or boring (unless they're queer or gender-nonconforming in some way then ig it's alright)" mindset because warmth and tenderness and affection are so often viewed as being antithetical to masculinity so seeing a hetero man openly exhibit that is. cool i think.

Fandom Problem #9967:
I write for a couple of small fandoms, and sometimes it gets really tiring. It's not because of lack of interaction, when taking into account the size of the fandom, I actually get a higher percentage of comments then I usually get in bigger fandoms. Instead, it's the fact that hardly anyone but me is writing fics for the fandom.
Every once and a while they're might be a new fic by someone else, but the vast majority of fics in these fandoms are written by me. I write and I write and I write, but there's hardly ever anything for me to read. I guess there was a part of me that thought if I just worked really and wrote a bunch of fics for these fandoms, then it would inspire other people to write.
It didn't though, and now I'm just worn out.

Fandom Problem #9966:
Saying "proships" under your commission guidelines is vague as hell and helps no one.
For starters, the word "proship" describes people, not content.
Second, the "pro" in proship follows the same basic convention as words like "pro choice", "pro gun" or many other compound words with "pro" as a prefix.
And third, if we're going with the definition "problematic content" just for kicks, no one bloody knows where you draw the line between "problematic" content and not... Especially if your other "will"s and "will not"s in your commission page are so vague that it provides no clues.
Say what you're damn well talking about, specifically, or don't do commissions. Because if you can't even articulate basic shit like this, you're not mature or intelligent enough to be taking on work for other people. Then again, the use of "proships" should be another clue that people should avoid you because it means you've swallowed an anti, purity culture, moral panic shibboleth and aren't safe to even float possible commission requests to. I don't have what you'd consider "taboo" ships, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to even risk someone lashing out at me for asking if they would draw two old adults with a 10-year age gap. Which, yes, I have seen artists flip out about.

Fandom Problem #9965:
Some of you guys that treat headcanons like they’re canon (they’re not), shoving headcanons down people’s throats, or harassing someone over headcanons you personally do not agree with just makes non-fandom people think that shipping and headcanons “ruin everything,” and look at the toxic side of shippers and people who make headcanons and think that EVERY shipper or person who makes headcanons are like this.

Fandom Problem #9964:
People who use "trigger" when what they really mean is "squick" or "turn-off". It's like they think "being momentarily grossed out a bit" is tantamount to an emergency situation that must be avoided at all costs, rather than an inevitable inconvenience that everybody agrees to by choosing to go onto the damn internet in the first place.
"I just happen to find this icky / annoying / unsexy" =/= "This puts me back in the state of mind of an extremely traumatic event I've experienced and may cause me to spiral into a panic attack." It's like telling everyone you have a deadly shellfish allergy when really you just think seafood has an unpleasant texture.
I don't wanna hear any "uwu but language is constantly evolving though~" bullshit because you have plenty of other terms you could choose from and instead you make a conscious decision to water down the one with a very specific meaning. Being deliberately misleading is not an example of "language evolving".

Fandom Problem #9963:
People complaining about the AxB ship by claiming B was "reduced to a prize for A"... only to then turn around and go "B should CLEARLY be with C, because C did more to deserve B's love" in the same fucking breath.
Do you even hear yourself?
